  Jollywood Nights, our brand new event at Disney World, and also

  Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

  Kind of a comparison of like which one might be better for
• 0:26
  your family. And we're just we're not going
• 0:28
  to tell you what to do, but we are going to give you some
• 0:30
  information so you can make an informed decision about what you
• 0:33
  would like to do, which event might work best for you, or if
• 0:36
  you want to do both of them. So that's what's headed headed
• 0:40
  for tonight. Jackie, where shall we start

  this evening? I think we're going to start in
• 0:46
  Hollywood studios with some of the new stuff and I'm excited to
• 0:49
  talk about them. Kate has just returned from a
• 0:53
  trip where she visited both of these parties and I am actually
• 0:56
  gearing up for a trip to go and visit both of these parties.

  So I think we both have some insight because Kate kind of
• 1:03
  went solo mom without kids and I'm going with my kids.
• 1:07
  So we'll, we'll kind of give you guys our different perspectives
• 1:11
  as we go through, like Kate said, to kind of give you guys
• 1:13
  the information so that hopefully you can decide what
• 1:17
  you'd like to do for your party. And yeah, I think we're going to
• 1:20
  start over at Jollywood's, if that sounds good to you, Kate.
• 1:24
  Yes, I think that's the hot topic, right, that everybody's
• 1:26
  talking about right now. Jollywood and I did get to go to
• 1:31
  the very first night of Jollywood, which is of course
• 1:34
  giant Disney creator fest. Every Disney creator on the face
• 1:37
  of the planet was there, which is always so funny.
• 1:40
  And I was like looking at those like, wait, I know them.
• 1:42
  Like, no, I don't know them personally.
• 1:43
  I just know their face. And I was like so.
• 1:46
  I don't lose any more. So Dollywood Nights, to put it
• 1:51
  in a nutshell if you haven't heard about what it is, is
• 1:54
  basically a more adult centered upscale event that's kind of
• 2:01
  vintage feel to it. So they encourage people to
• 2:05
  dress up in vintage clothing and has a lot of the things that are
• 2:09
  inside it are very much like vintage themed.
• 2:13
  So do you want to talk a little bit about when and where and all
• 2:18
  the details there? Yeah.
• 2:19
  So like we kind of mentioned, we're just going to kind of give
• 2:22
  you guys all of the information that is out there and available
• 2:25
  based on what the website has to say, what the maps have said for
• 2:29
  the event, and then we'll just kind of give our two cents here
• 2:31
  and there. But this is mostly meant to be
• 2:34
  kind of informative for you guys to get all of the information
• 2:37
  kind of in one place so you can make those decisions.
• 2:40
  So this year Jollywood Nights is select nights November 11th
• 2:46
  through December 20th. Now I will say I think it was
• 2:49
  only 10 total nights that they announced for dates for this
• 2:53
  event. So it is a much more limited
• 2:55
  event than you will see. When we get to very merry they
• 3:00
  only had. Those 10 dates, the time of the
• 3:04
  party is 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM. So it is a very late night
• 3:10
  party, a little bit different hours than you think of when you
• 3:13
  think of kind of the other offerings that they have with
• 3:16
  that ticket. You can get into Hollywood
• 3:18
  studios starting at 7:00 PM. So they always have that little
• 3:22
  bit of extra early time that you can get in.
• 3:25
  This one is a shorter window than what you will see when we
• 3:28
  get to very merry. But it does have that extra 7:00
• 3:32
  AM early entry time. Ticket prices range from
• 3:36
  anywhere from 1:59 to 179 before tax and annual pass holders and
• 3:41
  DVC do get $10 off of those. And I will also mention that you
• 3:46
  will have to kind of take a look at prices because they do vary
• 3:48
  by day and they vary by like adult versus child tickets.
• 3:53
  So the children tickets are typically 10 to $20 cheaper than
• 3:56
  the adult tickets, depending on what you're looking at.
• 4:01
  Yeah. And to add a little bit of
• 4:02
  context of, of experience into this that that's kind of the
• 4:06
  facts I have kind of like what I experienced.
• 4:09
  We showed up, I was with two friends of mine and we showed up
• 4:13
  probably, gosh, what's 6:00 is when I showed up to line up.
• 4:18
  And so we were outside the gates and probably four or five people
• 4:24
  deep into that line there and we got through pretty quickly once
• 4:28
  they opened it. I think it's 630 is when they
• 4:31
  started letting people into the park for that event, even though
• 4:33
  they said seven. So maybe get there a little bit
• 4:36
  earlier than what the time says. And we did get through fairly
• 4:40
  quickly. Now, however, people who were in
• 4:42
  the park already, they had the chance to go and get there.
• 4:47
  You get a wristband this says Jollywood nights and it's might
• 4:51
  be different colors depending on what night.
• 4:53
  I'm not sure. That's what they usually do for
• 4:55
  very Marys. They do different colors and
• 4:57
  then there's also a lanyard that they give you that they did tell
• 5:00
  us you don't have to wear this, but it doesn't help them kind of
• 5:03
  know who's part of the event and who they're supposed to, like
• 5:06
  kick out of the park. You know, when it closes, they
• 5:09
  get. Out of here.
• 5:10
  But I was like I was. I find these a little bit
• 5:13
  frustrating when you're dressed up because you don't want to be
• 5:15
  wearing this over your nice outfit.
• 5:18
  So luckily you don't have to wear this all night.
• 5:20
  But it is. It does have AQR code on the
• 5:22
  back, says Dollywood Nights. And then it has AQR code to all
• 5:25
  kind of the event information. So that's handy to have.
• 5:28
  So they give you those two things.
• 5:29
  So if you are inside of the park, they were distributing
• 5:32
  them. I think it was at the, what was
• 5:34
  it, the Mickey Theatre, The Vacation Shorts Theatre, I think
• 5:37
  is where they were doing it. I think that sounds right.
• 5:40
  I I didn't obviously went to the outside option, but I heard that
• 5:43
  the wait for that was like an hour ish.
• 5:46
  It was a long wait. So you might be better off going
• 5:50
  out of the park and getting in that line to get through it
• 5:52
  faster. Then if you're already in the
• 5:55
  park, you're trying to get it at the distributions point there.
• 5:58
  I will say though that knowing Disney, they will probably
• 6:01
  manage that in the next couple events to make that more
• 6:04
  streamlined because that's usually how that happens.
• 6:06
  So they, if they know that there's a bottleneck or
• 6:09
  something, they usually get pretty quickly on that to fix it
• 6:13
  for subsequent events. So take that information for
• 6:16
  what you will. Yeah.
• 6:18
  And I know I also will say that I did see again this is all the
• 6:21
  information we have seen online or the Kate experience from that
• 6:24
  first party. So very limited amount of
• 6:27
  information that we have right now just because of that.
• 6:31
  But I did also see that those people that arrived kind of
• 6:34
  right at or right right before that 7:00 PM time that the line
• 6:38
  outside at that point had gotten very, very long too.
• 6:42
  So I think again. Hoping that Disney will be able
• 6:45
  to manage that a little bit better, knowing that that was an
• 6:49
  issue that first that first night, but you never know.
• 6:52
  So definitely plan to arrive early and be patient and you
• 6:57
  know, hope for the best and hope for quick moving lines when it
• 7:00
  comes to getting your wristband. And I will say that I am glad
• 7:03
  that I, the lanyard thing was an interesting choice.
• 7:06
  I think that Disney made, but I am very glad that.
• 7:09
  That's not the only way that they have to indicate that
• 7:12
  you're going to be at the party. Because there is absolutely no
• 7:14
  way my kids would leave that lanyard on all night.
• 7:17
  No. And it's it's quite annoying.
• 7:19
  It's actually pretty large. Yeah, they did this too for
• 7:24
  Throwback night and then Disneyland.
• 7:26
  They were like, no, you have to wear it at least until like the
• 7:29
  party, like the regular guests clear out and then you can
• 7:31
  probably take it off. And so that's what I did there.
• 7:33
  But it was it was a little frustrating, but luckily you
• 7:36
  didn't have to leave it on the whole time.
• 7:37
  I will say a lot of people didn't know that they had these
• 7:40
  maps that are there mine's mine got rained on so mine looks a
• 7:43
  little rough and it was shoved in my tiny little purse.
• 7:45
  So just it looks better in person.
• 7:48
  But there is this really cute map and it is like it's even
• 7:52
  like holographic on the inside. It's super pretty.
• 7:55
  So I would recommend making sure you grab one of these maps on
• 7:59
  your way in because a lot of people didn't even know they
• 8:01
  existed. And if nothing else, they're a
• 8:03
  super cool souvenir. But they do list all the places
• 8:06
  you can find all of the attractions, just like at any
• 8:09
  Disney event attractions and food and all the the things.
• 8:12
  So make sure you grab one of these maps because they are
• 8:15
  they're worth having. Yeah, I know my kid was going to
• 8:18
  be super excited about that shiny map.
• 8:20
  He already loves maps. He.
• 8:21
  Like every time we walk into a park, he picks up a map.
• 8:24
  I'm like Buddy. You have so many maps in your
• 8:27
  room at home. He's like a film, like, OK,
• 8:30
  that's cool, but he's going to be really excited about that
• 8:33
  one. So I have a feeling that I will
• 8:35
  be like bringing a plastic bag to stick them in.
• 8:38
  So that way if it rains or whatever may happen, we have one
• 8:41
  for him to have at home. That way he's happy with that.
• 8:46
  I will mention about dress. I mentioned that it's kind of a
• 8:50
  vintage feel and I think that it's way more fun to dress up
• 8:54
  for these things than not. But I will say that I saw a fair
• 8:57
  amount of people that didn't dress up at all that were just
• 8:59
  regular park clothes that so it's not required.

  I think it definitely adds to the atmosphere to be dressed up,
• 9:06
  but if it's not in your budget or it's not like you just can't,
• 9:11
  that's OK You can still go to the event and experience it.
• 9:13
  So keep that in mind. I do have a picture of us there,
• 9:18
  well dressed, a look finest. We did the little outfits, we
• 9:23
  did the Three Caballeros theme. So that was real fun for us.
• 9:26
  Yeah, it was fun to see some of the outfits that people came up
• 9:29
  with, I feel. Like, you know, it's it's one of
• 9:31
  those events that it, like you said, it kind of adds to it when
• 9:35
  you get super dressed up. But again, it's not necessary.
• 9:37
  But you know, more people are going to dress up at an event
• 9:41
  like that than they would at like very merry.
• 9:42
  Although you do see people dressing up at very merry, but
• 9:45
  it's not as frequent. I feel like well, very merry.
• 9:48
  There's like a lot of pajamas. Like, yeah.
• 9:50
  You know, it's more like more cozy.
• 9:52
  Yeah, Cozy Casual Christmas instead of like vintage Fancy
• 9:57
  Christmas fancy Pants. Yes, exactly.

  Well, let's talk a little bit about the food because this, I
• 10:03
  feel like was one of the main draws that that Jollywood had
• 10:08
  for a lot of people was the food.
• 10:11
  So they had a ton of offerings. Before you dive into anything
• 10:17
  specific, I'll just mention that they did not at the, as of the
• 10:23
  first event, they did not serve any food until the event
• 10:26
  actually started. So just keep in mind that if you
• 10:29
  arrive on the early side, there's no food for you to get.
• 10:33
  That's party food. You can get like regular food,
• 10:36
  but like we we went in and we're like all hungry and we're like
• 10:39
  ready for eating and there was no eating to be had.
• 10:42
  That was for Jollywood. So if you go early, know that
• 10:47
  the only thing you can do is you can go on rides, but they still
• 10:51
  have regular guests there and you can.
• 10:54
  You can't eat, but it's just regular food and you.
• 10:57
  But the really the only thing you could do is maybe take a few
• 10:59
  photos and they don't even have all the event stuff out yet to
• 11:01
  take photos with. So it's almost an event I
• 11:04
  wouldn't recommend going super early for unless you just really
• 11:07
  felt like going on rides with regular guests.
• 11:10
  You know that's that's the only benefit of that.
• 11:13
  Yeah, I mean it's it's hard because we just talked about
• 11:15
  getting there early so you don't have to wait in that super long
• 11:18
  line to get in. But I feel like, yeah, I would
• 11:21
  have have in mind what you want to do between when you get in
• 11:26
  and when the party actually starts so that you're not just
• 11:28
  like, what? What do we?
• 11:32
  Yeah, 'cause there was a lot of standing around waiting at the
• 11:35
  beginning because there wasn't much for us to do.
• 11:37
  Like, yeah, Lem was magic bands and trash Cans was with us.
• 11:40
  And he said to show up at 8:00 PM, like, because it's it really
• 11:43
  is not something where you can go in and and do a whole bunch
• 11:47
  of things ahead of time. So that's that's my
• 11:50
  recommendation anyway. Let's get back to food.
• 11:53
  Yes, so let's talk about food. They have an extensive food list
• 11:59
  for this party. And it is a ton of event
• 12:02
  exclusive food that you have the option to partake in.
• 12:06
  I will say that the menu here had a lot better of a mix
• 12:10
  between like savory and sweet than some of the other events
• 12:14
  that we have seen in the past, especially at Disney World.
• 12:17
  And we've talked about that a lot on her podcast before, how
• 12:20
  Disneyland gets a lot more savory options typically than
• 12:23
  Disney World does. But this event I feel like did a
• 12:25
  good job of kind of giving equal amounts of both.
• 12:29
  A lot of the food here has kind of a Mexican or Hispanic palate
• 12:36
  when it comes to flavors. Not all of it, but a lot of it
• 12:39
  does have that kind of flair to it.
• 12:42
  So I'm not going to go through and read these because like I
• 12:45
  said, it is an extensive list, something like 60 some items
• 12:49
  that they have. So Kate is showing us some
• 12:52
  photos of what you sample. Do you want to tell us what you
• 12:55
  tried, what you liked, what you didn't like?
• 12:58
  Yeah, this is the empanadas that were at ABC commissary and the
• 13:03
  corn was like, meh, but the empanadas itself were good, they
• 13:07
  were just tiny. So then I'm showing you actually
• 13:09
  like 2 orders. We put them on the same plate,
• 13:11
  so they just come with two little ones plus some corn.
• 13:14
  But the prices were low. So it's like, you know, it
• 13:17
  wasn't like I paid $10.00 for those two or anything.
• 13:21
  We also had the Berea Taco that had the OR the that had the like
• 13:26
  dipping consume with it. And actually this was very good,
• 13:30
  especially if you added the lime to it.
• 13:32
  That really made it, gave it a little extra flavor.
• 13:34
  The consummate was a little bit bland.
• 13:36
  But overall, both of those food items I would probably still
• 13:40
  purchase again and eat again. And we did have, I don't
• 13:44
  remember what this is called. Help me out like this is this
• 13:47
  has a name I couldn't pronounce, but it's like a little rice, I
• 13:52
  don't know, dessert that's kind of like it's almost like a
• 13:54
  sponge cake temblaque. Yeah, that's my guess.

  I don't wear a rice pudding. I think it, what was it?

  Kirk from Walrus Carp said. It was kind of like eating a
• 14:08
  squish mallow, I think, and I think that that was accurate.

  Jackie, you're like anti weird extra person that would be not

  in your real house. Oh, that's not even on my list.

  It wasn't, like, awful. It was just like, I just

  probably wouldn't purchase that one again.

  But they did have some really solid options at ABC Commissary

  for for that menu, and I really enjoyed those, Yeah.

  Now I will mention before we kind of jump on a little bit
• 14:40
  more of the food here that there as of the first event there was
• 14:44
  no mobile order option during the party.
• 14:47
  So be prepared to wait in lines and I'm sure if any of you have
• 14:50
  seen any of the. Reports coming out of those who
• 14:53
  went to Jollywood, that was one of the biggest issues that
• 14:56
  people had was having to wait in those really long food lines.

  So just be prepared, scope it out a little bit, have a plan,
• 15:04
  maybe divide and conquer a little bit, but kind of figure
• 15:07
  out what you want when it comes to food and check those lines
• 15:11
  out and kind of just plan accordingly.

  Hopefully, like we have mentioned with the some of the
• 15:15
  other lines, Disney will maybe have a little bit of an altered
• 15:18
  plan for the future events, but we don't know until that
• 15:20
  actually happens. It's true.

  There was a lot of lines that's true.

  I do, I do want to say that Fairfax Fair actually had a
• 15:31
  pretty good menu overall. I really, I thought that the
• 15:34
  Turkey pop over that they had was probably one of my favorite
• 15:37
  things that I ate there at the party itself.
• 15:41
  So it looks like this. It's basically like, you know,
• 15:44
  you're like your Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich and it's got the
• 15:46
  cranberry and the Turkey and the mashed potatoes and the gravy.
• 15:50
  That's pretty much what it is. And so I recommend that one.

  I don't necessarily recommend the Mac and cheese one that had.
• 15:58
  I think it's collard greens on top, but this the Mac and cheese
• 16:01
  itself was not not very flavorful, so that probably and
• 16:06
  I had. I think I had bacon in it too,
• 16:07
  but. Ham, Mac and cheese with collard
• 16:11
  greens and ham. Some something that came from a
• 16:13
  pig in it. I mean it sounded like it would
• 16:19
  be good, but it just wasn't my it wasn't for me.

  Maybe. So you can give it a try if you
• 16:22
  want, but I will say I also got this.

  I want to say it's a banana shake.

  Is that? Do you have a list up?

  Yes, it is. Frozen banana and white

  chocolate with caramel swirls topped with a macho whipped

  cream and sprinkles. So it's got The Muppets on top.

  It's got Carrot and Foss. Super cute.

  Yeah, it's adorable. I think Lem from matcha Bass and
• 16:46
  trash cans, he really enjoyed this one.

  I I couldn't taste any of the banana flavor.

  It was very heavily matcha. So if that is your vibe and
• 16:55
  you're all about the matcha and kind of maybe white chocolate
• 16:58
  versus the banana flavor, that might be for you.

  It for me it was it was probably not my favorite drink just
• 17:05
  because I'm not a huge matcha fan and that's maybe on me so.

  I know, I think there was some texture discrepancies across
• 17:11
  those milkshakes as well that I think made a difference in
• 17:14
  flavor too. So you know it.

  It's hard at events like this when they're cranking out as
• 17:20
  much as they can, as fast as they can, especially the first
• 17:23
  night of something, for them for everything to be consistent and
• 17:26
  correct. And you know, things happen, but
• 17:30
  just be be warned that you never know some of the other options
• 17:36
  they had. Quite a few different like
• 17:38
  funnel cake options, but they weren't like the sweet funnel
• 17:41
  cakes that you typically think of.
• 17:43
  So over at Epic Eats, they had like spicy Korean chicken funnel
• 17:48
  cakes and a brisket Reuben funnel cake.
• 17:50
  This one had S'mores funnel cake.
• 17:51
  So that was one of the areas that looked really interesting
• 17:56
  that they just had those kind of savory funnel cake options.
• 17:59
  Again, a lot of really unique flavors coming out of this
• 18:03
  event, I feel like, but I feel like it was good because it's it
• 18:06
  was. A couple different, you know,
• 18:08
  pallets and a couple different things that they had to offer
• 18:11
  that aren't your standard sweet options that they typically
• 18:14
  offer at their Christmas events. Yeah, man, I think that one of
• 18:18
  the most popular things that people got was the Gertie
• 18:21
  cookie. So Gertie's the dinosaur.
• 18:24
  If you don't know who Gertie is just based off of an old
• 18:27
  animation from the 1920s. So there's a little Gertie with
• 18:31
  a little Christmas hat. OK, but those cookies are so
• 18:34
  cute. They're so cute.
• 18:36
  I wouldn't say that the cookie was like the best cookie I've
• 18:39
  ever had, but honestly, it was good and it was like, it was
• 18:44
  just really adorable. For photos that, I'll say it's
• 18:47
  an Instagram cookie. It's an Instagram cookie.
• 18:52
  Like we had so much fun, like posing with this cookie and and
• 18:57
  just like enjoying ourselves. So get the cookie just for the
• 19:02
  the fun aspect of it. I think it was less than $5.00
• 19:04
  so it was not bad and we didn't wait in a terribly long line for
• 19:07
  it, but we did go later in the evening to get it so.

  That in mind, they do also have that available.
• 19:13
  I think they were out by the time you guys got there, but
• 19:15
  they do have a mint soft serve that you can opt in to do if you
• 19:19
  choose to. You know they were out by the
• 19:22
  end of the night, so like you risk that of it running out.

  That was always a possibility. There was another place we
• 19:28
  didn't we didn't get to, which was the brown Derby had food.
• 19:33
  It actually looks really good and they had live music, but we
• 19:37
  didn't want to because it was only a four hour event.
• 19:40
  We didn't want to sit down for a good hour long meal, if that
• 19:44
  makes sense. Yes, absolutely.
• 19:47
  And we will just quickly mention the way that the Brown Derby is
• 19:49
  doing seating during the event. They are doing like a virtual
• 19:54
  walk up queue essentially where you have to kind of sign in and
• 19:58
  do it through your phone and you have to, I think you have to be
• 20:01
  like basically outside the restaurant to sign in to that.
• 20:05
  I know the first night again it was like instantly filled and
• 20:10
  packed wall to wall in there, which is to be expected,
• 20:13
  especially the first night. You may or may not find that at
• 20:17
  the the future parties it may not fill up as much.
• 20:20
  I do anticipate it's still going to be a popular spot, but yes,
• 20:23
  definitely keep in mind that it it's a sit down, so it's going
• 20:26
  to take up a significant portion of your evening if you do choose
• 20:30
  to go there. Yeah.
• 20:31
  And I think it's important to note that any of the experiences
• 20:35
  that I had was also kind of on an unusual night for the party
• 20:39
  because it had so many content creators and influencers there.
• 20:43
  Yep. So they will want to do
• 20:45
  literally everything and 1st. So it's going, everything's
• 20:49
  going to fill out very, very quickly.
• 20:51
  Although the lines will be busy very early in the event where
• 20:54
  that might not be the case for the future parties.

  So just take that into account. I will say that of a couple of
• 21:00
  the place food places we went to, there were sold out food and
• 21:04
  it wasn't always late into the evening.

  I think ABC had something sold out within an hour into the
• 21:11
  party. They were out of something, so.
• 21:14
  Hopefully that's something that you know Disney now will know
• 21:16
  this was the popular item and they'll they'll order
• 21:19
  accordingly and hopefully that won't be an issue in future
• 21:22
  parties. But if you're something you
• 21:23
  really want to get, get it first.
• 21:26
  That's my best advice for always for these parties is get it
• 21:29
  first because it's always possible that it might sell out.

  Yes, very true. I'm another popular place that
• 21:36
  we saw a lot of people flocking to was the Tip Top Club over at
• 21:41
  Tower of Terror. And again, I'm sure if you
• 21:43
  haven't seen you know, do a quick Google search and you'll
• 21:46
  see some of those images that people had of it being
• 21:49
  absolutely packed in there. You know, definitely a a very
• 21:53
  popular spot for people to go and get drinks.
• 21:57
  It is in the kind of like courtyard area of Tower of
• 22:01
  Terror. So it's not a super large open
• 22:03
  area. So keep that in mind.
• 22:05
  If that's something that you're wanting to do and they do have
• 22:07
  several drinks that they're offering there and there is live
• 22:10
  music up in that space as well. So if that's what, if that's
• 22:14
  fine with you and you want to head that way and you're OK with
• 22:16
  being, you know, with a ton of other people up there, then you
• 22:20
  know that that is totally fine. I know Kate, you guys went
• 22:23
  towards the end of the night and had kind of a better experience,
• 22:27
  although the weather did play a little bit of a factor.

  went, a lot of people were not going for the rides, they were

  going for the shows. They were going for the the food

  and the drink and the atmosphere and that type of thing.

  mention about the attractions is that if you are going and you
