- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swahili with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 122! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know, we've come a long way. Today, we're going to order breakfast at a café. Luna: Oh, I love breakfast. We already learned how to order chai and mkate before, right? Lucas: Exactly. In episode 117 we covered chai and mkate. But today we're going bigger. Eggs, coffee, the works. Luna: Sounds good. I'm hungry already. What's the first phrase? Lucas: Let's start with 'I want eggs.' In Swahili: 'Nataka mayai.' Say it with me: Nataka mayai. Luna: Nataka mayai. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want boiled eggs, you say 'Mayai ya kuchemsha.' Let's try that: Mayai ya kuchemsha. Luna: Mayai ya kuchemsha. That's boiled eggs. Lucas: Yes. And if you want fried eggs, it's 'Mayai ya kukaanga.' Repeat after me: Mayai ya kukaanga. Luna: Mayai ya kukaanga. Fried eggs. I love fried eggs. Lucas: Me too. So you can say 'Nataka mayai ya kukaanga.' Let's practice the full phrase: Nataka mayai ya kukaanga. Luna: Nataka mayai ya kukaanga. Lucas: Excellent. Now, bread. We already know 'mkate' from episode 117. But let's review: 'Nataka mkate.' Say it with me: Nataka mkate. Luna: Nataka mkate. Lucas: Good. And coffee. 'Nataka kahawa.' Repeat: Nataka kahawa. Luna: Nataka kahawa. Lucas: If you want coffee with milk, say 'Kahawa na maziwa.' Let's try that: Kahawa na maziwa. Luna: Kahawa na maziwa. That's coffee with milk. Lucas: Exactly. So you could say 'Nataka kahawa na maziwa.' Let's put it all together. Imagine you're at the café and you want fried eggs, bread, and coffee with milk. How would you say that? Luna: Umm... Nataka mayai ya kukaanga, nataka mkate, na nataka kahawa na maziwa. Lucas: Perfect! That's a full breakfast order. You can also just say 'Nataka mayai ya kukaanga, mkate, na kahawa na maziwa.' It's natural to drop the second 'nataka' after the first. Luna: Oh, that's easier. Nataka mayai ya kukaanga, mkate, na kahawa na maziwa. Lucas: You've got it. Now let's do a quick practice. Luna, I'll be the waiter. You order. Luna: Okay. Nataka mayai ya kukaanga, mkate, na kahawa na maziwa. Lucas: Nzuri sana! That was excellent. So now you can confidently order a breakfast in Swahili.
