- 0:00Speaker 1: Katie, can I see you in my office for just
- 0:02Speaker 1: a minute. It's one more thing. I'm strung, one more thing.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Before we get to Katie's story. Yes, Joe, I was
- 0:13Speaker 2: gonna say, you know, I'll wait, you got something. I'll
- 0:18Speaker 2: use this as a prelude to Katie's tale of Okay something.
- 0:22Speaker 3: So yesterday we got on the topic of the fact
- 0:25Speaker 3: that I take my coat off like a woman. As
- 0:28Speaker 3: my son said, you take your coat off like a girl. Confirmed.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I checked with a friend who's known me for twenty
- 0:34Speaker 3: five years who said, yeah, you do take your coat
- 0:36Speaker 3: off like a girl. Thought, really, okay, that's interesting. Then
- 0:39Speaker 3: yesterday took off my coat during the show for Katie.
- 0:41Speaker 3: She said, you absolutely take your goat. It's the way
- 0:43Speaker 3: I rolled my shoulders, apparently. So we made a video
- 0:45Speaker 3: of it and put it up for a vote, and
- 0:47Speaker 3: we posted on Twitter, and it's running sixty about two thirds. Yes,
- 0:52Speaker 3: I lack authority and otherwise in other words, I take
- 0:55Speaker 3: my coat off like a girl, or know about a third.
- 0:58Speaker 3: So most people seem to agree a lot of comments
- 1:00Speaker 3: on the video. For instance, Dave, who weighed in he
- 1:04Speaker 3: may take his coat off like a lady, but he
- 1:05Speaker 3: takes his pantyhose off like a man. Okay, thank you
- 1:07Speaker 3: for that. It's the way he puffs out his boobs.
- 1:11Speaker 3: That's what my son said. It's like you're trying to
- 1:13Speaker 3: push out your boobs but you don't have any. Okay,
- 1:16Speaker 3: you're like a Ponzi hairdresser. This person said, Oh, Karen Henriddy,
- 1:21Speaker 3: who's the insults?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Huh?
- 1:22Speaker 3: Karen Henriady a fabulous human being in a long time.
- 1:27Speaker 3: A friend of the Armstrong and Getty Show said, Michelangelo
- 1:30Speaker 3: is a national treasurer. That's for Michelangelo's participation in the
- 1:33Speaker 3: video in which he takes his jacket off like a
- 1:35Speaker 3: man compared to my taking it off like a girl.
- 1:41Speaker 3: I went into this wanting to back you, Jack, But
- 1:43Speaker 3: yet you do huh.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Big popular vote that your jacket's too small?
- 1:51Speaker 3: Yeah, well it wasn't when I bought it.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Did you see Jamie's comment, our beloved former newswoman Jamie Coffee,
- 2:02Speaker 2: I did not, She said, not sure. It's like a girl,
- 2:05Speaker 2: but definitely more fluid and more flair than Michaelangelow's cave
- 2:09Speaker 2: man esque disrobing of his coat. So and you do
- 2:12Speaker 2: you boo boo? She writes, that's a very Jamie thing
- 2:15Speaker 2: to say. Yeah, so Michael coming in for a little criticism.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know why I rolled my shoulders like that.
- 2:23Speaker 3: It's really made me think a lot about a lot
- 2:26Speaker 3: of things, giving you a caplex.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I have been a flaming heterosexual since early in my life.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I just knew it's girls for me from a very early,
- 2:38Speaker 2: you know, point in my life, and I have observed
- 2:43Speaker 2: girlishness and femininity in many, many different pursuits.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I've never thought about there being.
- 2:49Speaker 2: A feminine way to take off one's coat.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Now until people started posting gifts of women taking off
- 2:56Speaker 3: their coats. And that's the way I take my coat off. Huh, Jack,
- 3:00Speaker 3: He is an effeminate man who seeks recognition and approval
- 3:02Speaker 3: from others, especially the opposite sex, for self esteem fulfillment.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Okay, well, good psychoanalysis.
- 3:08Speaker 3: That's no charge either. It's the shoulder roll, everybody says,
- 3:12Speaker 3: so I'll work on it. I guess it's more of
- 3:16Speaker 3: a shimmy. I don't know what to do about that. Okay,
- 3:21Speaker 3: So tell us your story, Katie or Joe has a
- 3:23Speaker 3: prelude to Yes, Joe had something.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Well, I was just gonna say we, uh, I'm not
- 3:28Speaker 2: even sure this person's with us anymore. Are our first agent.
- 3:35Speaker 2: We were not thrilled with the job he did, and
- 3:38Speaker 2: indeed we asked him to take his leave in favor
- 3:42Speaker 2: of Eric, the world's greatest agent. On the other hand,
- 3:46Speaker 2: the one thing that he did that I really appreciated,
- 3:48Speaker 2: he'd say, guys, call me, it's urgent. It's a good thing. Yes,
- 3:53Speaker 2: So he would always make it clear, hey, I got
- 3:55Speaker 2: to see you. Don't worry. Everything's cool, because he knew
- 4:00Speaker 2: that anybody who gets that summons is.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Like, holy crap. So, bosses, I've always wondered this, when
- 4:07Speaker 3: you say I'd like to see in my office at
- 4:11Speaker 3: one o'clock, do you get a kick out of people
- 4:16Speaker 3: being scared to death? Or does it or does it
- 4:19Speaker 3: not occur to you that unless you say it's a
- 4:21Speaker 3: good thing, everybody's worried they're about to be fired or
- 4:25Speaker 3: something bad. Every time, not sometimes, not occasionally, every time, bosses,
- 4:31Speaker 3: you say I need to see in my office, you're
- 4:33Speaker 3: scared to death. You're losing your job. So if it's
- 4:35Speaker 3: not bad, and unless you get a kick out of
- 4:38Speaker 3: them being freaked out, you should say, as our agent
- 4:41Speaker 3: used to say it's a good thing, yeah, or.
- 4:45Speaker 2: It's no big deal. We just got to deal with something.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Of course if they were going to sack you and
- 4:50Speaker 2: row in your life and cast you out into the poverty,
- 4:54Speaker 2: they wouldn't tell you that, all right, of course, real
- 4:59Speaker 2: quick here.
- 4:59Speaker 1: But if you call your agent, he says it's a
- 5:01Speaker 1: good thing, and he says, guess what, guys, I got
- 5:04Speaker 1: a new car.
- 5:06Speaker 3: That doesn't help you.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I'm watching the video. I hadn't watched the whole video yet.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I had a crazy busy days. Michael taking his that's
- 5:17Speaker 2: not cave vanaged. That's a man taking off his coat. Michael,
- 5:20Speaker 2: I apologize for even report repeating that that idiotic criticism.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Jack is going to take off his coat. It's uh,
- 5:30Speaker 2: it's it's PONSI. It's hard to describe why, but it's.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I know, I'm wondering how I picked that up. Weirdly deliberate,
- 5:41Speaker 3: that's exactly that's funny. That is really weird. Let me
- 5:45Speaker 3: read the quote from and this is somebody who hadn't
- 5:48Speaker 3: seen me take a jacket off in twenty five years.
- 5:52Speaker 3: And I ask them, I mean, it's just weird that
- 5:54Speaker 3: they'd have any memory whatsoever. If somebody from who I
- 5:57Speaker 3: haven't seen take a jacket off in twenty five years
- 6:00Speaker 3: texted me and said, do I take my jacket off
- 6:03Speaker 3: in an effeminate way, I would say, what the hell
- 6:05Speaker 3: are you talking about? What I said? Yeah, you're very
- 6:09Speaker 3: particular and intentional when removing your jacket, very feminine. They
- 6:12Speaker 3: use the very word that you used. That's so strange.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I know it is. This is this is a topic
- 6:19Speaker 2: I have never spent a single second thinking about. No
- 6:22Speaker 2: in my many decades on this planet. But you're in
- 6:24Speaker 2: agreement with two thirds of people. Okay, whatever, you know.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I've got to admit I was I was tasked with
- 6:32Speaker 2: having because I bolted after the show yesterday. But I
- 6:35Speaker 2: was tasked with having Judy videotape me taking my coat off.
- 6:38Speaker 2: But she was insanely busy yesterday and we never got
- 6:40Speaker 2: it done. And now I'm a really curious about my
- 6:44Speaker 2: coat removal style, although nobody's ever mentioned it to me,
- 6:49Speaker 2: so it's probably more normal. But I'm also totally aware.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Now I'll be hyper aware I won't be able to
- 6:56Speaker 2: do it naturally.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I wonder if I've ever ce blocked myself. If you'll
- 6:59Speaker 3: part in the expression having met a woman who's kind
- 7:04Speaker 3: of interested in me, and then I take my coat
- 7:06Speaker 3: off and it's a deal breaker. It's like, no way
- 7:08Speaker 3: I could be with that guy.
- 7:10Speaker 2: And maybe she's not even conscious of why. She's like,
- 7:14Speaker 2: I'm not a lesbian.
- 7:18Speaker 3: There's probably a dozen beautiful women out there, Jack that
- 7:21Speaker 3: this has happened. It was like, I can't be with
- 7:23Speaker 3: a guy who takes off his jacket like me. They
- 7:25Speaker 3: thought to themselves.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Anyway back to Katie, this is this is just a
- 7:30Speaker 1: silly story that I had actually forgotten about until this
- 7:34Speaker 1: conversation came up. One of my top favorite bosses of
- 7:39Speaker 1: all time, and I think you know him, Paul Hawsley.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, Paul.
- 7:43Speaker 2: What a good dude.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I love him.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So I get off the air in San Francisco and
- 7:48Speaker 1: he comes into the into the studio and he goes, hey, Katie,
- 7:50Speaker 1: I need to talk to you in my office for
- 7:51Speaker 1: a second. And he is stone serious, and I'm thinking,
- 7:55Speaker 1: oh boy, what did I say?
- 7:56Speaker 3: What did I do? Whatever?
- 7:57Speaker 1: So I go into his office and he sits me
- 7:59Speaker 1: down and he goes, so, so what is going on
- 8:02Speaker 1: with your car?
- 8:04Speaker 3: What? Yeah?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Exactly my reaction. I'm like, what what are you talking about?
- 8:09Speaker 3: You get out of your car like a dude, and
- 8:11Speaker 3: it's just weird. Yes, it's off. Yeah, that was it.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And he goes, you're the pictures on your car and
- 8:21Speaker 1: I'm like, the pictures on my car? The only thing
- 8:23Speaker 1: I have on my car is a blink one eighty
- 8:24Speaker 1: two sticker on my window. And he goes, Okay, let's
- 8:27Speaker 1: let's go to the garage.
- 8:28Speaker 2: So in the license plate.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah. So we walked down to the garage and we
- 8:33Speaker 1: go to the back of my car, which is parked
- 8:36Speaker 1: right next to the elevator, and at this time it
- 8:40Speaker 1: shows so this is like ten thirty in the morning, Okay,
- 8:43Speaker 1: all over the back of my car, below the windshield
- 8:47Speaker 1: or below the windshield so I couldn't see it, are
- 8:50Speaker 1: triple X porn photos ripped out.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Of the magazine.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Oh like like oh there taped to the back of
- 9:00Speaker 1: my car like Blowey's and Handy's and and we know
- 9:04Speaker 1: what sex is, ask play. I mean, oh boy, hans yep, sorry, Hanson's.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It went all the way up to just about as
- 9:15Speaker 1: triple X as you can get. And mortified, I'm I
- 9:19Speaker 1: looked at him on like Paul, I have keep in mind,
- 9:23Speaker 1: my drive to San Francisco was about thirty five minutes.
- 9:26Speaker 1: So I drove from home over the bridge into San
- 9:30Speaker 1: Francisco with this.
- 9:31Speaker 3: On the back of my car. Oh okay.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So I go into my text messages because I hadn't
- 9:39Speaker 1: checked the people used to text message me at ungodly hours,
- 9:42Speaker 1: and I see a text from one of my friends
- 9:44Speaker 1: that says, hope you have a good work morning. And
- 9:47Speaker 1: I knew I from this the second I saw it
- 9:49Speaker 1: and went this, dick, it was him. He came home,
- 9:51Speaker 1: he walked to my house and he taped these things
- 9:54Speaker 1: to the back of my car. So Paul and I
- 9:56Speaker 1: had a little bit of a laugh about it. We
- 9:57Speaker 1: go back up into his office and Paul goes, hey,
- 10:00Speaker 1: let's call your friend. I'm like, okay, So I call him.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I call him and I start, you know, fake crying.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I'm like, Ryan, dude, my boss, really, my boss would
- 10:13Speaker 1: like to talk to you.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Really. Oh my god, this is the appropriate vengeance. This ismfortable,
- 10:19Speaker 3: this is justice.
- 10:20Speaker 1: So Paul has him on speaker phone and he goes, Hi, Ryan,
- 10:24Speaker 1: this is this is Katie's program director here in San Francisco,
- 10:27Speaker 1: and I just wanted to discuss the images that you
- 10:29Speaker 1: put on the back of her car. We actually have
- 10:31Speaker 1: security from the building here as well, and you can
- 10:34Speaker 1: hear Ryan going no, no, no, and then Paul start busting
- 10:37Speaker 1: up laughing. But anyway, that that's pretty good. The reason
- 10:40Speaker 1: this story came up is because we were talking about
- 10:42Speaker 1: the weirdest reasons we've ever been called into our boss's office,
- 10:45Speaker 1: and my brain went, oh, my god, that happened.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Oh that is that is a good way to get
- 10:49Speaker 3: back at somebody though. That's good.
- 10:51Speaker 1: God, Oh it was mortifying.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Anyway, if you are doing this job and you get
- 10:58Speaker 2: called into the boss's office and you're not fast forwarding
- 11:02Speaker 2: through everything you said in your head, you're not doing
- 11:04Speaker 2: the job right.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Right. It was a short walk to Paul's office.
- 11:09Speaker 1: But I'm going, Okay, what did I I did this
- 11:11Speaker 1: news story a common I'm like, I had no idea
- 11:13Speaker 1: at all.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, we've like had serious stressful
- 11:20Speaker 2: issues with people completely freaked out and pissed off some
- 11:26Speaker 2: of them performatively about things we've said. And I'd say
- 11:30Speaker 2: two of the three I never saw it coming.
- 11:33Speaker 3: No, I was gonna say every time I've gotten in
- 11:35Speaker 3: trouble for saying something. It's like something I didn't even remember.
- 11:38Speaker 3: I say edgy things sometimes and they go, oh boy,
- 11:41Speaker 3: that might get me in trouble. That's not the one.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It's the thing I didn't even think of for some
- 11:45Speaker 3: reason that usually ends up with the TV cameras outside
- 11:48Speaker 3: the radio station.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And then there is I need to come up with
- 11:52Speaker 2: a name for it. It's like my white whale. It's
- 11:56Speaker 2: the one thing I said once that I thought, that's it.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I've been in my career. I shouldn't have said that. Whoops,
- 12:04Speaker 2: And I was.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I was.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I was virtually certain it would be devastating and nothing
- 12:09Speaker 2: ever came of it. And you can ply me with booze.
- 12:13Speaker 2: You can put me on the rack, give my boy,
- 12:17Speaker 2: you can, or a handy or the other thing. Well,
- 12:21Speaker 2: the other thing might get me. I don't know. Try it,
- 12:23Speaker 2: but I gotta go to church. I need to get
- 12:29Speaker 2: to go to church and have my ears washed out.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And I will never admit it. I will never repeat it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It will not be repeated.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Had one time we angered the Asians, and every TV
- 12:37Speaker 3: station sent their Asian girl reporter to the radio station too,
- 12:41Speaker 3: and that was.
- 12:42Speaker 2: The funny part of it. And we've seen that sort
- 12:45Speaker 2: of thing. If you say something insensitive about like affirmative
- 12:49Speaker 2: action for black people or something like that, all of
- 12:51Speaker 2: a sudden you find out every every station in town
- 12:53Speaker 2: happens to have a black reporter too. Wow, and they're
- 12:56Speaker 2: reporting on this story. It's hilarious once you become aware
- 12:58Speaker 2: of it. It's it's like a hundred percent Italian Americans
- 13:03Speaker 2: are angered at the cancelation of the parade.
- 13:05Speaker 3: We go to Luigi Praconi for a report. Come on, well,
- 13:15Speaker 3: I guess that's it.
