Transcript
- 0:00A and I were home all day yesterday, and it was
- 0:02really nice. We watched two episodes of Heated
- 0:04Rivalry. Two? Wow, big day. Big day. So we're
- 0:07on episode five now. We're going to start episode
- 0:09five tonight. Nice. We watched a documentary.
- 0:12What did you watch? Edie and Thea. Do you know
- 0:15who Edie Windsor is? No. She was a very famous
- 0:19lesbian rights advocate, and she was in that
- 0:23Supreme Court case, Windsor v. United States,
- 0:26because her partner, who she was legally married
- 0:29to in Canada and was recognized in the state
- 0:32of New York. Her partner died in 2009, so before
- 0:36gay marriage was legal in the U.S. But because
- 0:38it wasn't recognized federally, she wasn't able
- 0:41to get, like, the estate. Or she was able to
- 0:44get the estate and whatnot. But she had to pay
- 0:47federal tax on it, like over $300,000. Like
- 0:51as if it was an inheritance? Yeah. Versus? Like
- 0:54a spousal deduction. So she sued and she won
- 0:58because they were like, the Defense of Marriage
- 1:01Act is unconstitutional. So work Edie, you rock.
- 1:04But I thought the documentary was going to be
- 1:06about that. But it's literally just about their
- 1:09love. And this was before her partner died. And
- 1:11it was like how they met and life in New York
- 1:14in the 50s and 60s. It was really sweet. It's
- 1:17on Amazon Prime and Tubi, if you guys are interested.
- 1:20Shout out to Tubi. People really make fun of
- 1:23Tubi, but it is free. It's just, there's so many
- 1:25stupid names. Do you know that meme that's like,
- 1:27it's literally on boobie? Yes. That's my whole
- 1:30job is being like, guys, it's on boobie. It's
- 1:32on poopoo. Fubo is real. And Mubi. Shout out
- 1:36to Fubo. Yeah. Fubo, Mubi. Die My Love is literally
- 1:40streaming on Mubi, guys. It's fake. It's so insane.
- 1:43It is fake. Oh, I wanted to bring up in the last
- 1:47episode, we were talking a lot about Emmett fixing
- 1:50up the bike with his dad. And I just missed an
- 1:53opportunity to acknowledge the Twilight parallels
- 1:55there because Jacob Black builds motorcycles
- 1:58in New Moon. Thank you. Yeah, that's all. Cool.
- 2:02Just wanted to talk about it. And they're going
- 2:04to build another motorcycle. Yeah, it's relevant
- 2:06in this episode. And I want to celebrate that
- 2:10we are halfway through season one. Oh, my God.
- 2:12Huge. So exciting. Speaking of the episode, you
- 2:16want to start? We are now on season one, episode
- 2:3215, titled Expulsion from the Garden of Eden,
- 2:36which aired January 31st, 2012. The first painting
- 2:40that came up for me was a fresco by Masaccio.
- 2:44It's Masaccio? Yeah. Okay. It's interesting.
- 2:48It's kind of blurry. Oh, yeah. They loved this
- 2:50style. They. Back in the day. You know what I
- 2:53mean? Early Italian Renaissance. They. Yeah.
- 2:57I think Adam and Eve look a little scary. Eve
- 2:59looks terrifying. Eve has like a really blurry.
- 3:02I like this one better. Oh, that's cool. By Thomas
- 3:04Cole. Yeah. That's a good one. I kind of like
- 3:07that back then they were just like, well, this
- 3:09is the name of the painting category. You guys
- 3:12all do it. Like the creation of Adam or anything
- 3:14biblical. You know, I don't really know about
- 3:16that stuff. This is one of those paintings that
- 3:19is relevant to this episode, though. How so?
- 3:21Explain it to me like I'm five. So Adam and Eve
- 3:24were expelled from the Garden of Eden because
- 3:26they were tempted by Satan and they ate the apple.
- 3:29Oh my God, are Regina and Angelo Adam and Eve?
- 3:33I think it's mainly about Angelo because it's
- 3:36about like the fall of man. It's kind of like
- 3:39a transition from innocence to disobedience.
- 3:43And this whole episode is like about, I would
- 3:46say it's mainly about Angelo and them finding
- 3:48out that he is a disobedient man, a fugitive.
- 3:52True. And then he's literally expelled at
- 3:55the end. Wow. Plus, I think there's a second
- 3:58layer to this one. Go on. Because this is the
- 4:02episode where Emmett moves from his mom's house
- 4:04to his father's house. Yes. And his father clearly
- 4:08represents a more hedonistic lifestyle because
- 4:11of the bong and the girlfriend who's like constantly
- 4:14making sex jokes. And skipping school. And skipping
- 4:17school and is like supportive of Bay and Emmett's
- 4:20sex life that doesn't exist yet and I feel like Bay
- 4:25is really freaked out by that but it's kind of
- 4:27like. It's the opposite of Melody. Emmett ate the
- 4:29apple. He committed a crime and he ate the
- 4:32apple. Yeah. Well the episode starts off with Bay
- 4:35helping Emmett move into his dad's apartment.
- 4:38And we meet dad. Yeah and she looks so cute I
- 4:41really like her outfit and like her ponytail.
- 4:44She has a cute little curly ponytail. She's carrying
- 4:47a laundry basket full of things that don't look
- 4:48heavy. Yeah, I'm sorry I cut your ponytail journey
- 4:52out of our last episode. That's totally fine.
- 4:54Just because I felt that you wouldn't want it.
- 4:57But I do feel like we got some positive, curly,
- 5:01cute ponytail representation right away in this
- 5:03episode. She has such beautiful hair, but that's
- 5:06only because hair and makeup were done in for
- 5:08like four hours. I think that is just what Vanessa
- 5:10Marano's hair looks like. But we meet Emmett's
- 5:12dad, who is played by Anthony Natale. He was
- 5:16in Jerry Maguire. And then he was also in Mr.
- 5:19Holland's Opus, a movie that I hate. He was also
- 5:22the ASL coach for the show, which I think I mentioned.
- 5:24Yeah. He was like the ASL coach for the show.
- 5:28Cool. And then I read online also that when Daphne
- 5:32was watching Deafenstein. Like many episodes back,
- 5:36he was playing Deafenstein. Oh my god. Aww. I
- 5:40really like that they were clearly just looking
- 5:42for ways to include him. Yeah, I bet they were
- 5:44like, well, we need someone to play Cameron.
- 5:46How about you, Anthony? So we're going to see
- 5:48him for a bit. But welcome to the show. Happy
- 5:51to see you. He's very friendly. Very friendly.
- 5:54Touchy. I think I'd be freaked out. I don't feel
- 5:57like I was freaked out until Emmett seemed freaked
- 5:59out. Sure. Like, I thought, I was like, oh, it's
- 6:02so nice. It's such a counter to how Melody is.
- 6:06Yeah, that's true. And, like, how beautiful is
- 6:07that? And then he's also slowed down his signing
- 6:10quite a bit for Bay, which is, again, so nice.
- 6:13Like, Bay catches everything he's saying, but
- 6:14he's going quite slow. But he says very slowly,
- 6:17like, wow, you're gorgeous. And Emmett is like,
- 6:21stop. Settle down. Yeah. Yeah, he gives Bay a big
- 6:24kiss on the head. And she's like, oh. Oh. I just
- 6:27met you. Okay. Sure. And then they're talking about
- 6:29moving. And they're saying, oh, we had to park
- 6:32really far because someone who has a really small
- 6:35penis parked their blue convertible poorly. Yeah.
- 6:38And took up two spots, I guess. Oh, do you think
- 6:41Bay was just emboldened by the hug to be like,
- 6:44I'm going to be so myself. I'm going to show
- 6:46that I just learned the sign for small penis.
- 6:48I think, yeah, I think she was like, well, he's
- 6:50not a regular dad. He's a cool dad. Yeah. So
- 6:53I feel fine to sign penis in front of him. Bay
- 6:56does love also to just like say the wrong thing
- 6:58at the wrong time. It goes over quite well in
- 7:00this situation. It does. But I think this is
- 7:02the only situation where that would be possible.
- 7:05Also, simcom alert because Bay is speaking
- 7:08English at the same time in front of two fully
- 7:11deaf people. Yeah. But it's okay because a hard of
- 7:13hearing person enters the picture. Which she
- 7:15didn't know. But she didn't know. She's very surprised.
- 7:19Yeah, a woman comes in and it's Cameron's much
- 7:22younger girlfriend, Olivia. Okay, multiple people
- 7:25in the episode also comment on the fact that
- 7:27she's much younger. I thought she looked the
- 7:29same age as Cameron. Clearly, I'm in the wrong
- 7:32because it's in the script that she's much younger.
- 7:34Yes. But I did not clock that. Maybe Cameron
- 7:37looks young to me. I was just like... Maybe the
- 7:39actor herself is not that young. Like,
- 7:42she just had a cool haircut. Yeah, but it's such
- 7:45a divorced dad thing to, like, get... To get
- 7:47the younger girlfriend. Totally. Yeah. Anyway,
- 7:50she comes in, and she's like, that blue convertible's
- 7:52mine. Don't worry about it. I'm not offended.
- 7:54She's speaking, and then Bay is a little confused
- 7:57and asks if she's hearing. She says, no, girl.
- 7:59Hard of hearing. Started losing my hearing
- 8:01in high school. Among other things. Among other
- 8:05things. She's promiscuous, guys. She's, like,
- 8:07so promiscuous with these teenagers. It's very
- 8:10weird. She's getting ahead of herself. It's a
- 8:12lot. Ahead of herself? I don't think she should
- 8:14get there to begin with. Get anywhere. You're
- 8:16right. You're right. But anyways, Olivia is played
- 8:18by T.L. Forsberg, who is actually hard of hearing
- 8:21in real life. Thank God. She was also in that
- 8:23documentary, See What I'm Saying, which was,
- 8:26like, that documentary about deaf actors that
- 8:28Daphne had a poster of many episodes back. She's
- 8:31in that documentary. Wait, that's kind of meta.
- 8:33It is, isn't it? That's so funny. Yeah, I thought
- 8:36it was a nice touch. But do her and Daphne ever
- 8:38meet? Could it canonically? But she's like not
- 8:41playing herself, right? No. Oh. That'd be so
- 8:44funny if Daphne was like, you look so familiar.
- 8:46Yeah. I can't put my finger on it. And then I
- 8:49looked at T.L. Forsberg's website. She hasn't
- 8:51done anything since Switched at Birth, really.
- 8:53Or nothing TV-wise. She mainly does plays, but
- 8:56she also works as a creativity doula. You know. Which
- 8:59basically is kind of just like a strategist to
- 9:02help people with like their plays and writing
- 9:05and whatnot. Sure. She works with artists to
- 9:08birth their stories, their story magic to the
- 9:11world. Okay. I think the actor is very much in
- 9:15line with this character. I feel like she didn't
- 9:17have to do that much acting. She's kind of herself.
- 9:20She is kind of playing herself. Yeah. Looking
- 9:22at the website, I was like, this is just her.
- 9:24Guys, I was homeschooled, but I think Creativity
- 9:26Doula might be a step too far for me. It was
- 9:29a lot. The website's insane. Sorry to TL. But
- 9:33again, some weird sexual innuendos. She's very
- 9:37laid back. And she's a cool girl. And then she
- 9:39says, oh, you can put the boxes over there. And
- 9:41Bay sets them down and notices a gigantic bong.
- 9:46This is the biggest bong I've ever seen. Which,
- 9:48okay, even at the time, I remember being like,
- 9:50why is Bay freaking out when I was watching this
- 9:53in real time? Now I understand as an adult that
- 9:56outside of Southern California, that was not
- 9:58normal to have in your house. She, later says,
- 10:01is the size of the space needle. And she's correct.
- 10:04It's quite big. I've never had a bong that big.
- 10:07No. It's insane. And then cut to Angelo and Regina
- 10:11are fucking. Well, they're not fucking. They're
- 10:13in bed together. But they just were. They're
- 10:16post-coitus. Post-coitus. Is that the right?
- 10:19Coitus, yeah. Coitus or coital? Coital. No, post
- 10:23-coitus. Post-coitus. They're in bed post-coitus.
- 10:25Yeah. And apparently they've been in the apartment
- 10:27all day. Fucking all day. Because it's 4 p.m.
- 10:30now. And Regina needs to go home. And you know
- 10:33what? We get to see a lot of Angelo this episode,
- 10:36and I understand. Abs. Yeah. They're crazy. Yeah.
- 10:40My God. This and Heated Rivalry is so many, so many
- 10:44shirtless men these past few days. But she was
- 10:46like, Daphne can't find out about this, so she
- 10:48runs out of the apartment. And then we're at
- 10:51the Kennish house. John and Kathryn are with
- 10:53Craig, the lawyer. Craig Tebbe. They say his
- 10:57full name. It's a fun name. That's the kind of
- 10:59name you have to say the full name every time.
- 11:01Craig Tebbe. Craig Tebbe. There's some people
- 11:03like that. It's like Joseph Gordon Levitt. You're
- 11:05never going to just be like, that's Joseph. Craig
- 11:08Tebbe. A trial date has been set. Yay. Did Kathryn
- 11:11change her bangs? They look good in this episode.
- 11:14I did not notice. Her hair looks quite good.
- 11:16Good job. Yeah. He hires a PI. He finds the name
- 11:20of a PI that the hospital is using to dig up
- 11:22information on John and Kathryn. And then Craig
- 11:24is like, well, I'm going to use that same PI
- 11:26to dig up information on you as well. So there's
- 11:29no surprises when the trial starts. And then
- 11:32Wilke and Daphne are taking a joyride on a golf
- 11:35course. They're on their first date. Driving
- 11:37very fast. Yeah. Daphne crashes them into a
- 11:40sand trap. Yeah he says watch out for the sand
- 11:43trap but it's dark and she can't hear him. She
- 11:45falls into the sand trap and Wilke flies out
- 11:48of the golf cart. This is obviously a stuntman
- 11:50but he like tumbles out. Yeah. And Daphne instead
- 11:53of saying are you okay starts laughing. Yeah. I
- 11:57guess Wilke but then he's like I have a bad
- 12:00back and I just wrote romantic scoliosis moment.
- 12:03Daphne says but boys can't get it, newsflash they
- 12:06can. Girls are just like 7 to 10 times more likely
- 12:10to have scoliosis. But boys can get scoliosis.
- 12:12God, Daphne. You know what they say about assuming.
- 12:15You make an ass out of you and me. Exactly. Yeah,
- 12:17she's really like mean to him about it for a
- 12:20second. And then she's like, oh, no. Oh, I'm
- 12:23sorry I bullied you a little bit. And then they
- 12:25make out. Yeah, she loves this story. I really
- 12:28like that he was like, you thought my life was
- 12:30just one giant keg stand. He's not like other
- 12:33boys. He has scoliosis. And he's so cute on this
- 12:36date. It would work on me. Daphne is wearing
- 12:40a thick peach quarter-sleeve cardigan with a
- 12:43floral tank top underneath it, cuffed above the
- 12:46ankle jeans and blue Keds. And blue what? Keds.
- 12:50Oh, my God. Remember Keds? Oh, yeah. Never wore
- 12:53them. Me either. They made my feet look so tiny.
- 12:56They're just, like, nothing shoes. I like a really,
- 12:59like, ugly shoe. In, like, a statement-making
- 13:02way. I get that. Not in an ugly out of necessity
- 13:05to be minimalistic sneaker way. I think we
- 13:08need Daphne out of the pinks and oranges. Yeah,
- 13:11I would love... Well, later she wears, like,
- 13:13a blue v-neck for, like, the rest of the episode,
- 13:15which is fine, I guess. I didn't like that one.
- 13:17Me neither. But she does look much better. The
- 13:19bright blue is much better on her, yeah. They
- 13:22make out in the sand trap, and that's hot. Yeah.
- 13:24Now we're at the farmer's market, and Kathryn
- 13:27is there smelling some fennel. I don't like fennel.
- 13:30She spots Angelo there and she's immediately
- 13:32like, oh, no, I need to avoid him. I half believed
- 13:35she was going to like duck under the beef. She
- 13:38really wanted to get out of there. And he sees
- 13:40her and he's like so excited. His whole face
- 13:43lights up. He goes, hey. And he says, what are
- 13:46you making? And she says, risotto. And then you
- 13:48offer some unsolicited advice and says you should
- 13:51add some pastis, which I Googled. And it's just
- 13:54like an anise flavored spirit, which. To me,
- 13:57sounds really, really strong to add both an anise
- 14:00spirit and fennel. I think I just don't like
- 14:03fennel that much. So I'm like, that sounds insane.
- 14:06That's a licorice risotto. Yeah, that does sound
- 14:09bad. And she's not interested in this. She's
- 14:12like, well, it's a family recipe. I can't mess
- 14:15with it. And he's like, oh, your grandmother
- 14:18was Italian? Yeah. And then apparently yheir
- 14:21ancestors were from a town close to one another
- 14:25in Italy. And Kathryn finally turns around
- 14:28because she was facing away from him this whole
- 14:29conversation. Yeah. She finally turns around,
- 14:32looks at him and goes, oh, my God, your eyes
- 14:34really remind me of Bay's. And his whole face
- 14:37lights up again. That makes him so happy. She
- 14:39has like a soft spot for him. Yeah, I think.
- 14:42Have they like encountered each other a lot before
- 14:45now? Not really. Not really. Well, this is definitely
- 14:47the first time they've been one on one. So yeah,
- 14:50she's really, she's charmed a little by him and
- 14:52also she warms to him a little. She does. Now
- 14:56we're at the car wash and I guess Daphne is working
- 14:59there now? Yeah, I think it happened off screen
- 15:02and they decided that was maybe like her punishment
- 15:05for the hearing aid thing. Oh. I just assumed
- 15:09that would be like mentioned. Because it doesn't
- 15:11say she needs money or anything or just wants
- 15:14a job. It doesn't make any sense, really. Well,
- 15:16now she's working at the car wash. John gives
- 15:18her some paperwork. He leaves the room and then
- 15:21a very pretty lady comes into the workplace.
- 15:24And it's Sarah Lazar, who has been mentioned
- 15:26many episodes ago when the old lawyer was doing
- 15:31a fake deposition with John and Kathryn. Yes,
- 15:34and she brought up Sarah. And John and Kathryn
- 15:38were testy about that. Didn't explain why. And
- 15:42we still don't know why. But Daphne is very skeptical
- 15:44about the Sarah Lazar girl. Yeah, right away.
- 15:47And then John makes it worse by being like, can
- 15:50you give us some time? And kicks her out of the
- 15:52office, basically. Now we're at Regina's place.
- 15:54And Kathryn comes in to tell Regina that, by
- 15:57the way, I ran into Angelo. And Regina immediately
- 16:01is on the defensive. Okay, if you're guilty,
- 16:04do not immediately say, what did he say? What'd
- 16:08he say? We're not dating. I can't prevent him
- 16:10from buying fruits and vegetables. Just be chill.
- 16:13Just be normal. Just be normal. She is panicking.
- 16:16This reminds me of the time when she was trying
- 16:18to hide the guitar case and she could not fit
- 16:20the guitar. Yes. She can't be chill about anything.
- 16:23No. Also, Regina, this bothers me. They always
- 16:26put her in exercise clothes. She's always wearing
- 16:29like a Lululemon zip up. Yeah, but we never see
- 16:32her work out. Never. And also, she's like an
- 16:34artsy mom. I would expect her to dress more like Olivia,
- 16:38the girlfriend. Yes, totally. She's got like
- 16:41an artsy spiritual side, kind of. Free spirit.
- 16:44Similar to the way they're always putting Daphne
- 16:47in orange, they're always putting Regina in like
- 16:49a royal purple. She looks nice in purple, though.
- 16:51She does. I'm not, but I'm just like, let's mix
- 16:55it up a little. I know. Yeah, she's wearing skin
- 16:57tight exercise clothes. For what? I don't know.
- 17:00Anyways, Kathryn comes in and she's like, I
- 17:03have an idea. What if we invite angelo to
- 17:06dinner? And Regina's like okay let me check in
- 17:09with Daphne. And Kathryn says let me check in
- 17:11with John. I feel like they could have started
- 17:13with like coffee. Dinner feels like big. That's
- 17:17true and she's gonna cook for all of them. No
- 17:19one's gonna help her. Also it's happening immediately.
- 17:22It's like the next day. It's yeah well yeah
- 17:25that's how the show works. I know. God forbid they
- 17:27wait a week. God forbid they just do a time jump.
- 17:30I know. Then Daphne goes to see Toby in his garage
- 17:32to ask about the situation with Sarah Lazar.
- 17:35Yes. And she has changed her shirt here. She's
- 17:39wearing this green striped top and the colors
- 17:41are much better on her. Okay. But the neckline
- 17:43has like an accumulation of bonus fabric, almost
- 17:47like it should be a mock neck, but it's not.
- 17:50Like rolled down and clustered. Okay. I know
- 17:53what you're talking about. Very modestly at her
- 17:54collarbones. And it's, I hate it. So, and a long
- 17:58statement necklace that comes down to like her
- 18:01belly button. Interesting. Yeah. Okay. She asked
- 18:04Toby about Sarah Lazar. And he says, oh, she's
- 18:07like a news reporter for the Kansas City Herald.
- 18:09And immediately gets defensive about it. He just
- 18:13goes, well, there's bound to be some rumors.
- 18:14I don't know what you've heard, but it's not
- 18:16true. He's kind of mean to her about it. Gets
- 18:18extremely defensive. Does not want to hear anything
- 18:20Daphne has to say. And he kind of just leaves.
- 18:24So don't know what that's about. We're back at
- 18:26Cameron's house. Bay has been helping Emmett
- 18:29move in the whole time. Very nice girlfriend.
- 18:32And they're talking about decorating and Emmett
- 18:35wants to turn a selfie of them into wallpaper.
- 18:37Do you think that was like exciting new technology
- 18:40that had just come out? Maybe. It felt so random.
- 18:43It reminds me, did you ever see those commercials?
- 18:46You could get wallpaper, like life-size wallpaper
- 18:49of like a football player. Like the figureheads.
- 18:52No. I don't think I would have been the audience
- 18:55for that. They're talking about decorating and
- 18:58whatnot. But then, oh, also, Bay is still simcoming
- 19:02to Emmett. Again, please stop. But then Olivia
- 19:04comes in and she sees Bay's art and she really
- 19:07admires it. And she asks to buy it and then takes
- 19:11it on the spot. So, she's supportive of Bay's art in
- 19:14a way that Melody, I don't think, was. No. So
- 19:17that's another difference. And then she's like,
- 19:19by the way, you are welcome to stay overnight
- 19:21because I'm not a regular mom. I'm a cool mom.
- 19:24I'm a stepmom-ish. So does she live there? Yes.
- 19:28How long have Cameron and Melody been? They have
- 19:32not shared. Because Melody tells, hold on, let's
- 19:35do a timeline check. Melody tells Emmett, tells
- 19:38Regina that her and Cameron are splitting in,
- 19:40like, episode three before she tells Emmett.
- 19:43Yes. And this is episode 15. So, like, six months
- 19:48max. Are they fully divorced? No, they're separated.
- 19:52They're not fully divorced yet. Well, maybe they
- 19:55are because... But divorces take longer than
- 19:58six months, don't they? Well, I think it depends
- 20:00on the type of divorce and, like, how long you've
- 20:03been married, etc. But Melody does make some
- 20:06comment like the divorce cost a lot of money
- 20:09so maybe it's done but even if it's done six
- 20:13months is like pushing it like I almost, I
- 20:15want to say it's more like four. It feels like
- 20:17three or four. Yeah well he's moved on very fast
- 20:20from Melody to Olivia. Anyways Olivia's like you are
- 20:23welcome to stay overnight. Please have sex in
- 20:26my house. Please have sex in my house oh my god.
- 20:29I would love it. And Bay's kind of weirded out and
- 20:33then how'd you feel about that? About which part?
- 20:36When she was like, please have sex in my house.
- 20:39I'd much rather you do it here than like the
- 20:40back of a car. Yeah, the way she says it is
- 20:43also is like, you're welcome to stay over. You
- 20:46know, a bed is a lot more comfortable than a
- 20:49backseat. Right. That's what she says before
- 20:50she leaves. I think if she wanted to make that,
- 20:53first of all, I don't think she should be the
- 20:55one making that statement because even if it
- 20:57is half her house, not her kid. It's not her
- 20:59child. That's true. So it's odd. But I guess
- 21:01the assumption is that she's communicating as
- 21:04the mouthpiece for her and Cameron. So even,
- 21:07let's just say that. Let's say Cameron's on board,
- 21:09whatever. Okay. I feel like maybe a conversation
- 21:12could have been like, hey, we want to be supportive
- 21:15of your relationship. We don't want you to feel
- 21:18like. You have to hide anything from us, I guess.
- 21:21I just think this would have been a great conversation
- 21:24to have maybe like a few days or a few weeks
- 21:27later. Maybe not like a few minutes after meeting
- 21:30Bay. Cameron must know that part of the reason
- 21:33Emmett is moving out of Melody's is that she is
- 21:35not supportive about this relationship. Right.
- 21:38So maybe he's just like, let me get right out
- 21:41in front of it. You don't have to sneak around
- 21:43or lie or like hide anything. Right. And I think
- 21:46they're also assuming that they're probably having
- 21:48sex because they're 16. And then Bay's... Bay
- 21:51is very freaked out by this. I was kind of like
- 21:53surprised by that. Also because she was like
- 21:56seconds away from sleeping with Ty after knowing
- 21:58him for two weeks. But it seems like she and
- 22:00Emmett have never talked about it. Which I guess,
- 22:02you know, she barely speaks the language. Yeah,
- 22:05how can they have full talk about intimacy and
- 22:07consent and whatnot? Yeah. I don't know. Yeah.
- 22:09But it's funny how freaked out she gets. If you
- 22:13had a child who was 16, would you let their partner
- 22:15stay over? It would probably depend on the partner
- 22:18and, like, if I felt that their relationship
- 22:19was healthy. But, yeah, I would support them.
- 22:22I think I would, too. I think I would have them
- 22:24ask me instead of me being like, and here's the
- 22:28bedroom for you to fuck on. Right. Just for the
- 22:31pure reason that, like, it's kind of gross. To
- 22:34do that. And again, this is the girlfriend. I
- 22:36know you said she's the mouthpiece for Cameron,
- 22:38but I'm like, who are you to say that? Now we're
- 22:41back at the Kennish house and John is complaining
- 22:44because Craig Tebbe apparently emailed him true
- 22:47dat. That's kind of funny. That is so unprofessional.
- 22:51It is. Not to be a boomer, but I was like, that's
- 22:54crazy. Yeah. Also, before he asks about the
- 22:58email. He comes into the kitchen and Kathryn
- 23:00is reaching for a bowl on a high shelf. And he
- 23:03narrates himself going to pick up the bowl for
- 23:07her like he's a sports broadcaster. And I hated
- 23:10it. I thought it was cute. Anyway, Kathryn
- 23:13is wearing her classic squirrel apron. Love. Beautiful.
- 23:16And then she tells John that she wants to invite
- 23:19Angelo for dinner. Yes, but the way she does
- 23:20it is so funny. She's like, I'm thinking about
- 23:23what I should make tonight. Maybe Italian, maybe
- 23:27French, maybe both. Whatever you want. And she's
- 23:31like, well, what I want is for Angelo, who's
- 23:34Italian and French, to come over for dinner.
- 23:37It's so strange. And he's like, oh, um. I guess.
- 23:40Yeah. Damn. And then. Cut to the next scene.
- 23:44Regina asks Daphne the exact same thing. And
- 23:46Daphne is like, yeah, sure, whatever. Yeah, but
- 23:49what she says is, if John and Kathryn can survive
- 23:52a dinner with Angelo, then so can I. John and
- 23:55Kathryn don't have any history or beef with
- 23:58Angelo the way Daphne does. I think she's also
- 24:00just in a good mood because she just made out
- 24:02with Wilke. True. She's come so far. She has.
- 24:06But Adrianna is in the back, arms crossed. They
- 24:10brought Adrianna back just for this episode. So
- 24:12she can brood in the background. So irrelevant
- 24:14lately. And they said, background of every scene,
- 24:17Adrianna looking disapprovingly. Nuh uh, she's like
- 24:20shaking her finger, wagging her finger. And Daphne
- 24:24leaves the room and she immediately is like, he has
- 24:26an agenda. Also, you guys are sleeping together
- 24:28and I know it. Yeah. And Regina doesn't even
- 24:31try to lie. For the record. No. Well, she, her
- 24:34mom knows her. She just like freezes, turns around
- 24:36and goes, and what? It's like that Rick and Morty
- 24:39clip. So what if he's the devil? You haven't
- 24:41seen that? Why would I look at a Rick and Morty
- 24:43clip? Rick and Morty is a good show. Sorry, I've
- 24:46never seen it. I know that men like it in a way
- 24:49that sucks. Don't let men ruin it. Okay, I'll
- 24:52allow it because you're not a man. It's pretty
- 24:54tight writing. But there's an episode where Summer,
- 24:57the older teen sister, is like complaining that
- 24:59there are no good boys around. And then she meets
- 25:02the Devil and she starts dating him knowing he's
- 25:05the Devil. And her grandpa is like, you can't
- 25:08date him. He's the Devil. And she's like, so
- 25:10what? So what if he's the Devil, Rick? At least
- 25:12the Devil has a job. Well, in this case, Angelo
- 25:15doesn't even have a job. No, Angelo is unemployed.
- 25:17He's worse than the Devil. Now we're at Buckner.
- 25:20Oh, yeah, Daphne finds out that Wilke takes
- 25:23every girl to the golf course. Also, Daphne,
- 25:25love you, girl, but you look so dorky, like,
- 25:28describing the date. She's like, he was so romantic.
- 25:31Like, it's so... I hated it. Right. Now we're
- 25:35back at Cameron's. Emmett and Bay are parked
- 25:38outside. Yeah, they are spending a lot of time
- 25:41now, like, immediately at Cameron's place. Maybe
- 25:45Emmett just has so much stuff to move. I don't
- 25:47know. I think maybe it's just like they finally
- 25:50have a place where no one's going to bother them.
- 25:52Yeah, that's true. Which is quite nice. Yeah.
- 25:55They parked outside and Bay says, I think Olivia
- 25:58thinks that we're sleeping together. And then
- 26:01she says, but by the way, I'm a virgin. But instead
- 26:04of virgin, she accidentally signs vegetable.
- 26:06The signs are quite similar. Yeah. So, teacher
- 26:10moment. Vegetable is V. And it's shaking against
- 26:13your cheek. But virgin goes from the top of your
- 26:16head down to the bottom of your head. Almost
- 26:19like the sign for deaf with a V. Yeah, basically.
- 26:22And then Emmett drops that he's not a virgin.
- 26:25No. And they have this whole conversation using
- 26:27food metaphors, which I hate. Yeah, that's fair.
- 26:30She goes, did you have sex with? And he immediately
- 26:33interrupts and says no. But that he doesn't peel
- 26:36and tell. Ha ha. Ugh. Yeah. Now we are at Angelo's
- 26:41apartment. And he answers a phone call in Italian.
- 26:44And the only thing we really find out is that
- 26:46he has a false passport and that they... Which
- 26:49is super illegal. Yes. People are not focusing
- 26:52on that part enough. No. That part's crazy. Like,
- 26:55he very casually later on is like, well, I needed
- 26:58a different name for my work visa. Why'd you
- 27:00have to... You can't just put a different name
- 27:02on your... On your government documents, right?
- 27:05But I think because the PI is now digging
- 27:07into him, I think it raised some flags with whoever
- 27:11his friend is. And then they called him and then
- 27:14he yelled in Italian. So there's that. We're
- 27:17at the car wash now. Wilke comes in to see Daphne
- 27:20and he's like, hey, do you want to go on date
- 27:22number two? And Daphne's like, oh, are we going
- 27:24to do the same dates that you do with everyone
- 27:27else? He makes his case worse because she knows
- 27:29that he takes girls to World of Fun next. And
- 27:32he goes, oh, there's a new roller coaster at
- 27:35World of Fun. And he's like, there's only so
- 27:37much we can do. Right. She's like, and what,
- 27:40we're going to hook up on the Gravitron? How
- 27:42would you hook up on the Gravitron? Isn't that
- 27:44the one that spins you? And you're stuck to the
- 27:46wall. And you're stuck to the, oh, I guess you'd
- 27:47be stuck to each other. Oh, yeah. She can go
- 27:50on top of him. Okay. That could be fun. That
- 27:53could be. Aw. Kind of romantic. Yeah. See, like,
- 27:57why is she... What is there to fucking do in
- 28:00Kansas City? Yeah, that's true. And that's what
- 28:02he says. He's like, I've been out with a lot
- 28:04of girls. There's only so many good dates to
- 28:06take them on. Sorry for hitting the classics.
- 28:09And she kind of slut shames him. Yeah, she does.
- 28:12Not nice. Then Emmett and Bay are making out
- 28:15on the couch at Cameron's. I hope Cameron and
- 28:18Olivia aren't there. Yeah, they're just, like,
- 28:20making out in the living room. In the living
- 28:22room. Very bold. And Emmett drops, oh, by the way,
- 28:25I skipped school today to go to the salvage yard
- 28:28to hunt for motorcycle parts for my dad. Yeah,
- 28:30but he doesn't drop it unprompted. They're kissing,
- 28:33and she pulls her hand back from his neck, and
- 28:35she has, like, a single speck of grease paint
- 28:38perfectly on her finger, and there's none on
- 28:41him. And he's like, oh, yeah, it's from the junkyard.
- 28:45And she goes, junkyard, what are you talking
- 28:46about? And then he goes. At least make him a
- 28:48little dirty. I know. That's the story. It's
- 28:51just, yeah, I guess it was behind his ear or
- 28:53something. How did it get there? It's for the
- 28:56story. It's for him to say, dad wrote me a note
- 29:00to skip school. And Bay is weirded out by that.
- 29:04I think I would be too. Yeah especially because
- 29:06he's still failing. He's failing school. You played
- 29:09hooky but at least you were doing well. Yeah I, oh,
- 29:12I really cared about my grades. I just did not
- 29:14want to physically be there. Yeah but he is failing
- 29:17and that's worrying. Very much the opposite of
- 29:20Melody. How were she and Cameron ever together? Clearly
- 29:23he's going through some midlife crisis stuff.
- 29:26Maybe he was different before this. Bay invites
- 29:29Emmett to dinner. And he says no. He says no. In
- 29:33his defense, she's like, this really important
- 29:35dinner is happening. It's tonight. But he goes,
- 29:38we're hunting for a motorcycle at the salvage,
- 29:40not a motorcycle, an engine at the salvage yard.
- 29:43Yeah. You can do that any other time. I feel
- 29:46in my heart of hearts that he just doesn't want
- 29:48to go to what he is positive is going to be a
- 29:51disastrous dinner where eight out of the ten
- 29:54people there don't sign. That is very fair. If
- 29:57there's going to be drama and he can't even know
- 30:00what it is. Like, why does he need to be there?
- 30:02But also, if he was being a good friend, he would
- 30:06go because Daphne is also going to be there.
- 30:09But I guess Daphne didn't ask him to go. I don't
- 30:11know. I did think it was kind of shitty on his
- 30:13part. I did not like that. I think he should
- 30:15have went. Yeah. But he says, I'm going to look
- 30:18for an engine, but you can come stay over after.
- 30:21Yeah, you can come so we can have sex afterwards.
- 30:23I don't want to go support you, but afterwards
- 30:25we can have sex. Yeah. And Bay's like. That's
- 30:28so 16 to be like, you know when I should lose
- 30:30my virginity is after this super dramatic family
- 30:32dinner. Absolutely. Perfect. Great timing. We're
- 30:36at the Kennish house now and Toby and Kathryn
- 30:39are covering their ears because the house alarm
- 30:41just went off. Yeah. And Kathryn doesn't know
- 30:43the code to shut it off. And Toby has a book
- 30:46that is clearly like written about John's career.
- 30:49They're trying to figure out the code. They're
- 30:51like, maybe it's the RBI stats. Maybe it's the
- 30:53on base percentage. I just love the concept
- 30:55of like flipping through your dad's biography
- 30:57to be like, what is the clue? Yeah. And then
- 31:01Kathryn's on the phone and she says, we're
- 31:03all going to go deaf here. And Toby does say,
- 31:06mom. And she goes, oh. Oh, silly me. Now we're at
- 31:09the car wash. Kathryn is looking for John because
- 31:13she's like, hey, the house alarm is going off.
- 31:15What is the goddamn code? But he is nowhere to
- 31:18be found. One of the employees asks Daphne. Daphne
- 31:21doesn't know. But then Daphne looks at his calendar
- 31:24and she sees that he has like a 12 o 'clock at
- 31:28a cafe. So she decides to go and spy on him.
- 31:31And he is at this cafe with Sarah Lazar. And
- 31:33they don't look cozy, but they do look friendly.
- 31:36They're having a friendly chat. Don't know what
- 31:38it's about yet. But Daphne's not happy, and she
- 31:40angrily walks away. And then Toby and Wilke
- 31:43are rehearsing. They're jamming. In the garage,
- 31:46and Wilke asks Toby for a favor, and we get
- 31:49another capybara mention. I told you, if you
- 31:52got a rash from the capybara, that's your problem.
- 31:54I wrote that word for word. Me too! I just, they
- 31:58really, they wanted to stretch that bit. But
- 32:00Wilke's like, no, man, I need your help with
- 32:03Daphne. I like your sister. Yeah, she thinks
- 32:05I'm this huge man-slut. And Toby's like, and?
- 32:08But I feel bad for Wilke. He keeps saying like,
- 32:12I really like her. I'm genuinely interested in
- 32:14her. And Toby really does not believe him.
- 32:17Or like care about the outcome of this. I don't
- 32:21feel like they're very good friends to each other.
- 32:24Daphne, after going to the cafe, comes home and
- 32:26sees Regina. And it's simcom time. She asks Regina,
- 32:31do you think that John would have an affair?
- 32:33And Regina is like, I don't know, but you should
- 32:35stay out of it. Yeah. Which I think is correct.
- 32:39Me too, but I was kind of surprised that that's
- 32:41what she said. Because she's also hiding that
- 32:44she's seeing Angelo. So I think she's speaking
- 32:47for herself. For being like, it's not your business.
- 32:50It's not your business, stay out of it. Yeah,
- 32:52but it kind of is Daphne's business who Regina
- 32:54is sleeping with in this case. That is true.
- 32:57But... She's being very defensive though. I think
- 33:00she, I mean, she does say like, even if John
- 33:02is having an affair, it doesn't mean he doesn't
- 33:04love Kathryn. And like, there could be more
- 33:06going on there than you know about. Yeah. Which
- 33:08I think is true. It's true. She's just like,
- 33:10there's so much more. It's not black and white.
- 33:13Yeah. This does not comfort Daphne at all, by
- 33:15the way. No. She's still going to go on the hunt
- 33:17later. And then downstairs, Angelo has gotten
- 33:20to dinner early. Yeah. And he sees Bay in her
- 33:24art studio while she's quickly trying to put
- 33:27condoms in her red purse. Do you think she just
- 33:30like went out and got those immediately afterwards?
- 33:32Also, why did she buy them? The man should buy
- 33:35the condoms. I think they should both have them.
- 33:37But, like, I feel that the man should buy them.
- 33:40Right. It's for him. Yeah. Sure. But extremely
- 33:43awkward to be shoving condoms into your purse
- 33:46when your biological father walks in. He doesn't
- 33:49see that, right? No, but he's, like, about to.
- 33:52And she frantically, like, shoves them into her
- 33:54bag. Bad timing Bay. Maybe because this is not
- 33:57a good night for you to have sex for the first
- 33:59time. No. And then Angelo's like I want to
- 34:02meet your boyfriend. I want to know that his
- 34:04intentions with my daughter are honorable. And
- 34:08she goes, they're honorable-ish. I hate this.
- 34:11I hate that thing. I hate it when any father
- 34:15is acting like that, but especially Angelo, who
- 34:18isn't even really a father figure yet. It's been
- 34:21like two weeks. Yeah, he does not know her enough
- 34:23to be like, I'm concerned about, quote, your
- 34:26honor. You don't even know sign. What are you
- 34:28going to talk to Emmett about? Right. That drove
- 34:31me crazy. I don't think he even knows that Emmett
- 34:33is deaf. He doesn't. It drove me crazy. It's
- 34:35just like weird patriarchal bullshit. I hate
- 34:38that shit. Yeah, you're right. He's also, he
- 34:40and John are dressed very nice. They're wearing a
- 34:43button up and a suit for this dinner. Yeah. Yeah.
- 34:46High stakes. Anyway, it's dinner time. We're
- 34:49going to eat that fennel risotto now. They're
- 34:51all sat. And then Daphne and Adrianna walk in
- 34:54and make a very dramatic entrance. Adrianna, again,
- 34:56is doing the scowling face and like the wagging
- 34:59the finger. Like, I don't want to be here. She
- 35:01is pissed. And Daphne's like. She's being polite.
- 35:05She's being very polite. She's just sitting down
- 35:07eating her bread. Whatever. Oh, John and Kathryn
- 35:10have the most white country club couple exchange
- 35:14where she's like, well, I called you at the club
- 35:17earlier because I couldn't figure out the code
- 35:20and they said you weren't there. And he's like,
- 35:22well, I didn't check in at the front desk because
- 35:25I didn't want to talk to the caddy for 30 minutes
- 35:27about how I need to invest in his business opportunity.
- 35:31And Daphne's in there knowing he is fully lying.
- 35:33Right. But also just like, we don't actually
- 35:36see them be like John and Kathryn Kennish that
- 35:39often but it really popped out at the dinner.
- 35:41It really did, the class. Yeah. Really popped out
- 35:44with that conversation. Everyone's saying this
- 35:46risotto is fantastic and she says thank you, I
- 35:49listened to Angelo and added the pastis. And he
- 35:52gives her a little wink. He does. Cheeky little
- 35:54wink. And then the phone rings. Wonder what that's
- 35:56about. Toby answers and it's Craig Tebbe and he
- 36:00wants to speak to specifically Kathryn. John
- 36:02starts to get up. And he goes no no no this is
- 36:05for Kathryn. Gives the phone to Kathryn. Kathryn
- 36:07leaves the room. Also, I noticed Angelo refused
- 36:10to drink. I guess in solidarity with Regina.
- 36:13Yeah. At the table. Ally. Ally. And Craig Tebbe
- 36:17says, Kathryn, Angelo's a fugitive. That's
- 36:20exactly how I feel that he said it too. Angelo's
- 36:23a fugitive. There's a warrant out for his arrest
- 36:25in Italy. We don't actually hear him say anything.
- 36:28We don't. But I do feel spiritually that that's
- 36:30what was said. No, immediately John, Kathryn,
- 36:33and Regina leave the dining room. They go into
- 36:36the kitchen and they confront Angelo. And they
- 36:39start yelling at him. But then one minute later,
- 36:42Toby and Adrianan? Yeah, I guess she's there too.
- 36:46Bay comes in and she's like, so we all hear
- 36:48you yelling. Except for Daphne. Except for Daphne.
- 36:51So you might as well include us. Yeah, all the
- 36:52hearing people hear you yelling. So you might
- 36:54as well include us. Access. Access. Thank you.
- 36:57And Angelo immediately confesses. Yeah. Yeah,
- 37:01you're right. What happened was. So what happened
- 37:03was he was engaged. Which Regina does not like
- 37:07hearing. Yeah, she makes a little face. Yeah.
- 37:09Little jealousy face. And one night, they don't
- 37:12say when this was, which bothered me, but we'll
- 37:15get to it. He was engaged and one night he was
- 37:17celebrating his engagement. Probably like his
- 37:20bachelor party or whatever. Yeah. And his friend
- 37:22admitted to sleeping with his fiance. And Angelo
- 37:25was really drunk and he beat up his friend really
- 37:28badly. And the next morning he ended up in jail.
- 37:31The friend that he beat up, that friend's father
- 37:35was the prosecutor and he was out for blood,
- 37:38so Angelo had to flee the country. So he creates
- 37:41a false passport under the name Adam Sorrento.
- 37:44So he commits more crimes. So he commits more
- 37:46crimes, so he can get a work visa, and he flees
- 37:49to America. Yeah, to Chicago, I guess. Yes. To
- 37:53his sugar mama situation. Is that part true,
- 37:55though? Well, if we are to believe that part.
- 37:58So we know that he's been missing for two years.
- 38:01Are those two years in Chicago? Yes. Okay, that's
- 38:05what I think, too. Anyways, that's what happened.
- 38:08Regina is immediately on her side. Yeah. She's
- 38:11like, well, we can get him a good lawyer that's
- 38:14going to help him stay. I don't know, if you're
- 38:15a fugitive, that's really hard. Yeah, and Angelo's
- 38:18like, well, all my money is tied up in the salon.
- 38:21And she's like, great, we'll sell the salon,
- 38:23which does not work out later on. She tries to
- 38:24call, like, the landlord, and the landlord won't
- 38:27let her sell. She's tied to the lease. Okay,
- 38:29this is the second time in two episodes that
- 38:32she has tried to get out of this lease. This
- 38:34landlord's like, I'm fucking sick of you. You
- 38:36signed a contract, you're stuck for a year, or
- 38:39however many years. Right, because the first
- 38:40time, the landlord was like, sure, I'll let you
- 38:42out of the lease, you just have to pay one month.
- 38:44And clearly she went back and said, just kidding.
- 38:47I'll keep the lease. This landlord is sick and
- 38:49tired. And that was like last week. That was
- 38:51like one week ago. Yeah. So that's done. Angelo's
- 38:55out. And then John and Kathryn are talking
- 38:57and John is like, I'm so angry. I could just
- 39:00call and have him deported. And Bay's like, if
- 39:02you do that, I will never forgive you. Don't
- 39:06snitch to immigration. Don't fucking snitch.
- 39:08But you know what? John Maybe-Cheating-On-His-
- 39:11Wife Kennish, who likes to play at the golf club
- 39:14and ignore the caddies, he would fucking snitch.
- 39:17He would. This tracks with their character. I
- 39:19don't think Kathryn would call, but John would.
- 39:21It was just very timely considering the events
- 39:24going on. I just was like, ugh. Anyway. Yeah,
- 39:26Regina calls to try to get out of the salon lease
- 39:28and the landlord's like, fuck you, you're stuck.
- 39:31Basically, we don't hear this call, but this
- 39:33is my assumption. And Daphne overhears her trying
- 39:37to do this. And she's like, so why do you care?
- 39:40Why do you want him to stay? And then she realizes
- 39:43that they're, like, back together. Yeah, Regina's
- 39:46down bad for him. She says, I never fell out
- 39:49of love with him. Ooh, yeah. And then Bay, I
- 39:53guess Bay just, like, fled and went to Emmett's
- 39:56place. Emmett's dad's place. And Emmett is like,
- 39:59well... I understand why John and Kathryn want
- 40:02him out of the picture. He is a felon. Yeah.
- 40:05No, assault and battery is not a small crime.
- 40:09It seems pretty serious. Your parents are trying
- 40:11to protect you. Says Emmett, who was just recently
- 40:14arrested. But it's very different. Vandalism
- 40:17is so different. And also, he never fled the
- 40:20country. I feel that if Emmett were smart, he
- 40:23would have simply said nothing. She's pacing
- 40:26so much, I'm like he is definitely not catching
- 40:28everything she's saying because she's not signing
- 40:30all of it. He should have just done what he did
- 40:32several episodes ago, sat in a sandwich. Yeah that's
- 40:35what that was the problem, he didn't have an emotional
- 40:37support sandwich. Exactly. But then Bay turns it
- 40:40into. Yeah she's like don't like attack my dad.
- 40:44What about your dad? Yeah, she blows up at him
- 40:47over his dad and girlfriend, who is trying to
- 40:49mate them like they're giant pandas. I like that.
- 40:52That was a funny line. That is sort of how it
- 40:53felt. Yeah, and they have a giant bong that's
- 40:57the size of the space needle. She's very judgmental
- 40:59about the bong. Very judgmental. The bong is
- 41:01fine, guys. They're not forcing you to smoke
- 41:04it. In fact, it's good for parents to smoke weed.
- 41:06It chills them out. Yeah. Let them relax. Let
- 41:09them relax. Being a parent's stressful. And Emmett,
- 41:12to his credit, I think is like, OK. And he kind
- 41:15of pacifies her. He's not going to fight back
- 41:17about Emmett yelling at him about his dad and
- 41:20girlfriend. Yeah, he doesn't. That doesn't seem
- 41:23to bother him. He's just like, OK, whatever.
- 41:25And then Bay's like, that's it. We're not having
- 41:27sex tonight. Well, because do you think his motivation
- 41:30for being like, OK, I'm going to ignore you attacking
- 41:32my parents. Let's just kiss and make up is so
- 41:35that they can sleep together? Yeah, probably.
- 41:36And then she says, if you think we are sleeping
- 41:39together tonight, you are higher than your dad.
- 41:42Girl, what is your problem? You need to smoke
- 41:45a little and just, like, relax. Yeah, she needs
- 41:47to smoke a little. I know. Then Daphne is exterior
- 41:50driveway. Exterior driveway. We haven't had exterior
- 41:53driveway in a bit. I know. I was so excited.
- 41:56Yeah, she's angrily dribbling a basketball. And
- 41:58Wilke shows up to apologize. I kind of love
- 42:02that there's so much going on and Wilke's, like,
- 42:04not looped in at all. Not at all. Is now a good
- 42:07time for us to talk about our relationship? Yeah.
- 42:10Daphne accuses him of lying about the scoliosis
- 42:13story. And he's like, no, girl, that's true.
- 42:15I had surgery. Yeah, and she just blabbed it
- 42:17to Toby. And he's like, well, no one knows about
- 42:20the story because you're the first person I told
- 42:22that story to. Because I like you and I trust
- 42:24you. Also, I really like you. We're good together.
- 42:27Like ketchup and eggs. Do you like ketchup on
- 42:30your eggs? No, but my wife does. Okay. See, I
- 42:33don't and Paolo does. Yeah. So not everyone
- 42:36gets it. Yeah. Just like them. So that's beautiful.
- 42:39But he's won her over. She's smitten again. Yeah.
- 42:42They basically kiss and make up and then she's
- 42:44like, hold on one second. Let me go confront
- 42:47my bio dad about his maybe affair. Yeah. Because
- 42:50literally the next scene, she's just like, hey,
- 42:53John, don't, one, don't deport Angelo. Yeah,
- 42:57she was like, don't deport Angelo because he
- 42:59makes Regina really happy. How does she know
- 43:01that? Yeah, she, first of all, she doesn't. But
- 43:03also, like, why is she saying that in defense
- 43:06of her mom? Don't deport Angelo because he's
- 43:09Bay's dad. Yes. And John says he doesn't have
- 43:12a choice. Does he not? I was thinking maybe he
- 43:15doesn't have a choice and that it would affect
- 43:17the hospital lawsuit if he kept it a secret.
- 43:20If he knew and kept it a secret. But he could
- 43:22also just talk to his attorney. Like, please
- 43:25don't call ICE, basically. And he's like, I don't
- 43:28have a choice. Yeah, you definitely have a choice,
- 43:30John. You do, John. And he exercises that choice
- 43:32because then he doesn't, for the record. That's
- 43:35true. And then Daphne goes, okay, so who's Sarah
- 43:37Lazar? Are you guys fucking? She says, and another
- 43:39thing. And another thing. And John goes, so,
- 43:43Sarah is writing a book about the switch. Again,
- 43:45another person from the Kansas City Herald wants
- 43:48to exploit the family and write a story about
- 43:50the switch. I'm just kind of confused. Do you
- 43:52think they were just like, we got to get this
- 43:54other random reporter character out of here?
- 43:57She comes up later in like future seasons. Okay.
- 44:00I just feel like we're spending a lot of time
- 44:02with employees of the Kansas City Herald. Yeah,
- 44:04I don't know. But basically, Sarah is writing
- 44:07a book about the switch. Because he doesn't
- 44:10want her to compete with Kathryn. She has more
- 44:12sources and whatever. If I were a reader, I would
- 44:16way rather read the book written by the person
- 44:18it happened to. The mother. And not some random
- 44:21journalist. Especially not some random journalist
- 44:23who covered it unsanctioned. Yes. Unauthorized.
- 44:27If no one else from the story is going to talk
- 44:29to her either. Yeah. Daphne is not convinced
- 44:31by John's story. Yeah, and then she really crashes
- 44:34out. Yeah, she vents to John about, like, losing
- 44:37faith in the ideal of a perfect family. She was
- 44:42denied a perfect family unit growing up. And
- 44:44I think she put all these expectations onto the
- 44:46Kennish family. Yeah, and then she says, basically,
- 44:49I'm just waiting for you to screw up. I got a
- 44:52new dad, and I don't want him to be a loser like
- 44:54Angelo was, too. Fair enough. But then John says
- 44:57this really sweet thing. He was like, I'm not
- 44:59perfect. I'm going to make mistakes and disappoint
- 45:01you, but I'm not going to lie to you and I'm
- 45:04not going to leave. Yeah. Some really good acting
- 45:06by D.W. Moffett. Yeah. And this makes Daphne
- 45:10cry and they have a sweet hug. Really good scene.
- 45:13This really heals something in her, I think.
- 45:15That was nice. Good job, John. Yeah. No deporting
- 45:19and you're nice to your daughter. Good job. King.
- 45:21Then Bay goes to Angelo's apartment. She's hopping
- 45:24around the city tonight. Yeah, she's really on
- 45:26the loose. But he's gone. He's gone and the door
- 45:29is visibly kicked in. And she immediately goes
- 45:31back home and confronts John and Kathryn. She's
- 45:34like, where the hell is he? Did you guys turn
- 45:36him in? And they're all arguing. Exterior driveway.
- 45:40Exterior driveway. And all are stunned when Adrianna.
- 45:43She jumps out of the shadows. And it's like,
- 45:46I turned him in. It's me. Like, that's literally
- 45:50her. She steps into the room. So if you care
- 45:52to find me. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Angelo has been expelled
- 45:55from the Garden of Eden. I really like this episode.
- 45:57Also, Adrianna is such an underused character.
- 46:00So it was nice to finally have her do something.
- 46:03Her villain arc is here. I love it. Daphne also
- 46:06had a good episode. No, I think she's free from
- 46:09the despair that's been looming over her head
- 46:12these past few episodes. And she's having fun
- 46:14with Wilke. Wilke was used quite well in this
- 46:16episode, too, to lighten the mood. I think any
- 46:19episode where Daphne is cry acting is a good
- 46:22one. She's really good at that. Why do we think
- 46:25Bay is so weird about sex? I think she's just
- 46:28a virgin and uncomfortable and she's not ready.
- 46:30Yeah, I feel that she's definitely not ready.
- 46:32But it's like a really big plot point for her
- 46:34character throughout this whole season. No one
- 46:37is making you have sex at 16. No one. No one
- 46:39should be. No. It's really not necessary. Yeah.
- 46:43Because, I mean, that was like a huge plot point
- 46:45with Ty. I know. But he was also older. Yeah.
- 46:49And she was like trying to catch up, I guess.
- 46:51Yeah. I think that if Bay wants to have sex,
- 46:55she absolutely should. First of all, Emmett's a
- 46:57cutie. Yeah. Second, now she has a safe space
- 47:00to do it. Yeah. Great. Not going to be like you
- 47:04know because yeah when you're a teenager I mean
- 47:06as gross as it was for Olivia to be so like forward
- 47:10and kind of pressury about it I do think that
- 47:14her heart was probably in the place of like, I
- 47:17don't want you guys having sex in a car somewhere
- 47:20in the like somewhere random, like that feels
- 47:23unsafe. Yeah it could be dangerous. Yeah it could
- 47:25be dangerous like you could be like people could
- 47:27see you when, you could get arrested whatever.
- 47:30So I think that she's in the right for giving
- 47:33them that space. And I feel like if they wanted
- 47:36to take advantage of that, she should. But I
- 47:39really feel that she is not ready. Not in the
- 47:42slightest. No. So I hope that she accepts that
- 47:46about herself soon. Also, there are other things
- 47:49that are not penetrative sex. This was the same
- 47:53thing with Ty. This was the same thing with Ty.
- 47:55Yes. When they didn't have condoms, they were
- 47:57like, well, there's nothing we can do. Yeah.
- 48:00No railroading. We didn't get this far yet with
- 48:03the shows. They said there's only one type of
- 48:05sex. I guess so. And it's penetration. Well,
- 48:08I do. Like, when I think about, like, all the
- 48:11media I consumed, like, for teens about sex,
- 48:14it was always just, like, they either had sex
- 48:16or they didn't. Yeah, and there's always penetration.
- 48:19It's like, guys, sex is a spectrum. There's all
- 48:21kinds of things you can do. Yeah. And as a teenager,
- 48:24you should not just jump right to the main thing.
- 48:28No. You should do all the things. That's why
- 48:30there are bases. John knows all about this.
- 48:33Bay should know about this. Right. Her father
- 48:36should have imparted that baseball wisdom to
- 48:39her. Yeah. So yeah, that makes me worried for
- 48:43her. But I don't know. I'm glad Regina got laid
- 48:45just because like Angelo and his gorgeous abs.
- 48:48I feel like she was kind of happy. Yeah. Okay,
- 48:51cool. You're like, I don't have anything to say
- 48:53about that. No. Okay. I don't really care about
- 48:56Regina's feelings. Me either. But for me personally,
- 49:00I feel that I would like to see Angelo's abs
- 49:02more. Right. That's fair. So I'd like to keep
- 49:06him in the show and also not have him in ICE
- 49:08custody. Yeah, that's messed up. Fuck ICE, guys.
- 49:12Yeah, fuck ICE. We don't really talk about politics
- 49:14on this show because we record so far in advance
- 49:16that, like, who knows what nonsense is going
- 49:19to be going on in the world when this episode
- 49:20comes out in three and a half weeks. But this
- 49:24will remain relevant. Fuck ICE. Yeah, fuck ICE.
- 49:27Bye. Bye.
