Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Now on The Voice of New York, it's the Mark
- 0:04Speaker 1: Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Well, a lot to get to today. We'll go over this,
- 0:19Speaker 2: whatever that was last night. They call it a midterm convention.
- 0:23Speaker 2: It was a bit of a mess. We'll get to that.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Oil prices are spiking. Apple announced all kinds of new
- 0:30Speaker 2: products yesterday. We'll go over them. Jimmy Kimmel lashing out.
- 0:34Speaker 2: We'll get to him. We'll get to Crazy Mom Donnie.
- 0:37Speaker 2: The U.S. Open and more. It's Thursday. It's the day
- 0:42Speaker 2: before 9-11. Tomorrow, the ceremonies will take place. And by
- 0:47Speaker 2: the way, you don't want to be driving anywhere around
- 0:51Speaker 2: lower Manhattan. There's going to be a lot of street closures.
- 0:53Speaker 2: In fact, below Canal Street, almost everything will be closed.
- 0:58Speaker 2: They'll be fencing all around the areas where the ceremony
- 1:01Speaker 2: will take place. It's going to be extremely high security.
- 1:08Speaker 2: It looks like J.D. Vance, the vice president, will be there.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Some ex-presidents will be there. George W. Bush, Obama. Who
- 1:20Speaker 2: else will be there? Bill Clinton will be there. Luckily,
- 1:24Speaker 2: not an ex-president, but some crazy woman who always wanted
- 1:27Speaker 2: to be president. Hillary Clinton will be there. She's sometimes
- 1:32Speaker 2: had some bad episodes at those 9-11 ceremonies. Remember the
- 1:35Speaker 2: time she passed out? Just passed out right there, had
- 1:38Speaker 2: to be carried away. But it'll be very high security.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Mayor Mamdani, and also tomorrow night's Rosh Hashanah. So Mamdani... Too.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Many of our neighbors have been the victims of anti-Semitic
- 1:51Speaker 3: hate crimes. And too many are understandably afraid to come
- 1:54Speaker 3: together and celebrate openly. I want to speak directly to
- 1:57Speaker 3: our Jewish New Yorkers now Your safety during these sacred
- 2:00Speaker 3: days is of the utmost importance to our administration, and
- 2:04Speaker 3: we will work tirelessly to ensure that you can observe
- 2:07Speaker 3: the holiday securely.
- 2:08Speaker 2: All right, that's very bizarre. The biggest anti-Semite of all,
- 2:12Speaker 2: a guy who ginned up these hate crimes, is working
- 2:15Speaker 2: to prevent these hate crimes. It's a little bit of
- 2:18Speaker 2: a catch-22 there, but okay. Now, 9-11 security.
- 2:22Speaker 3: The NYPD and Secret Service will be implementing heightened security measures.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Fencing will be installed to surround the memorial site and
- 2:29Speaker 3: other locations in Lower Manhattan. There will be security screening
- 2:32Speaker 3: for anyone invited to the memorial. And please remember that
- 2:35Speaker 3: this event is not open to the general public.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Wow. Police Commissioner Tisch.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Preserving that history also means preserving its moral clarity. The
- 2:45Speaker 4: men who attacked this city.
- 2:47Speaker 5: were terrorists.
- 2:48Speaker 4: The men and women who ran into the towers to
- 2:51Speaker 4: save innocent lives were heroes. 25 years cannot be allowed
- 2:57Speaker 4: to blur that distinction and shame on those who do.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Well, so there'll be very, very heavy security and a
- 3:04Speaker 2: traffic nightmare lower Manhattan tomorrow. The ceremony will take place,
- 3:10Speaker 2: things start about 8.30, and it's the 25th anniversary, so
- 3:14Speaker 2: it'll be a little bigger than previous years. That's why
- 3:17Speaker 2: you have all these ex-presidents coming in for this. Now,
- 3:23Speaker 2: the convention last night, whatever it was, I don't know
- 3:27Speaker 2: what it was last night. It was supposed to be
- 3:29Speaker 2: a midterm convention. You got a couple of problems. One,
- 3:33Speaker 2: the political convention in the presidential year, Democratic convention, Republican convention,
- 3:38Speaker 2: used to be a big deal. Three nights on television,
- 3:41Speaker 2: full primetime coverage. Well, there's no such thing as primetime
- 3:45Speaker 2: in television anymore. People don't watch network television like they
- 3:48Speaker 2: used to. And even if you're on in prime time,
- 3:51Speaker 2: you're not getting a lot of viewers. Not a lot
- 3:53Speaker 2: of people are seeing you. You're lucky if you're getting
- 3:55Speaker 2: 2 million people. Hannity's getting 3.5 million. So you're getting
- 4:02Speaker 2: beaten by cable news. Now, a few years ago, it
- 4:08Speaker 2: was about eight years ago, the network stopped covering the
- 4:11Speaker 2: conventions from 8 to midnight. Then it became 10 to 11, maybe.
- 4:17Speaker 2: some nights and it became just the final night. So
- 4:19Speaker 2: the idea of doing the convention is a little outdated
- 4:23Speaker 2: as far as getting attention, but they did it yesterday.
- 4:26Speaker 2: President Trump came up with this idea for a midterm convention.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I don't know who scheduled it, but somebody needs to
- 4:33Speaker 2: get yelled at. They scheduled it against the NFL opening game.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Not just any game. It was the Super Bowl teams rematch,
- 4:43Speaker 2: you know, rematch. It was a big deal. So it
- 4:47Speaker 2: was a total disaster as far as scheduling. And then
- 4:51Speaker 2: the president made a speech, but normally if you can
- 4:57Speaker 2: do a convention speech, it's a very tight, focused, well-written speech, powerful,
- 5:03Speaker 2: you know, makes a lot of impact. This was rambling.
- 5:07Speaker 2: It was way too long. It was an hour and
- 5:10Speaker 2: 47 minutes. It just went on and on. You can't
- 5:14Speaker 2: do a one-hour, 47-minute speech. You just can't do it.
- 5:18Speaker 2: The convention hall was packed. I know they're going to
- 5:20Speaker 2: try to tell you there were so many empty seats.
- 5:23Speaker 2: If you look at those pictures, they're early in the evening.
- 5:25Speaker 2: It eventually did fill up. But again, the speech was
- 5:29Speaker 2: way too long. The big shock of the night was
- 5:33Speaker 2: a Democrat appeared, John Fetterman. John Fetterman all of a
- 5:37Speaker 2: sudden made an appearance, and that was on video. There
- 5:39Speaker 2: were a number of Republican speakers, and one was going
- 5:42Speaker 2: to be Senator Dave McCormick, the other Pennsylvania senator who's
- 5:46Speaker 2: become a good friend of President Trump's, but to introduce
- 5:49Speaker 2: him instead of somebody coming out to introduce him, a
- 5:52Speaker 2: video started and there was Fetterman, the Democrat. At the
- 5:57Speaker 2: Republican convention.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Yes, I'm Senator John Fetterman, Pennsylvania. Yes, I'm a Democrat.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Why am I here.
- 6:04Speaker 7: Talking to you today? Because, well, I'm a common sense Democrat.
- 6:09Speaker 7: I'm always going to stand with America. I'm always going
- 6:12Speaker 7: to reject the extremes and socialism and that anti-American way
- 6:17Speaker 7: of life.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Well, I don't know what the backlash was going to
- 6:20Speaker 2: be from his fellow Democrats. It was quite a surprise.
- 6:23Speaker 6: Dave McCormick is the kind of senator that gets the
- 6:27Speaker 6: job done and he's going to fight for Pennsylvania. I'm
- 6:31Speaker 6: proud to count him as my friend.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Right back over my shoulder. That's the iconic U.S. Steel Mill.
- 6:39Speaker 6: And that's exactly the kind of thing that we'll work
- 6:42Speaker 6: together and we'll work with President Trump to fight and
- 6:45Speaker 6: defend the steel way of life right here in the
- 6:48Speaker 6: Steel Valley. I have this opportunity to introduce this great American,
- 6:53Speaker 6: a great senator. And yes, he's in a different party,
- 6:56Speaker 6: but I'm proud to count him as my great friend.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a big deal in Pennsylvania, the steel industry
- 7:02Speaker 2: saving it. And these two guys did everything they could
- 7:05Speaker 2: to save it. So President's speech. Listen, there were some
- 7:09Speaker 2: great moments in that speech, some really great moments. But
- 7:12Speaker 2: just moments. It was an hour and 47 minutes. Way
- 7:16Speaker 2: too long.
- 7:18Speaker 8: Who feels Iran should not have a nuclear weapon? You know,
- 7:27Speaker 8: it happens to me all the time. Guys come up.
- 7:29Speaker 8: You know, I wish you didn't do the war in Iran.
- 7:31Speaker 8: Gasoline's up. And I say, well, let me ask you
- 7:35Speaker 8: just smart people. Let me ask you, not too many
- 7:38Speaker 8: of them, by the way. Let me ask you one question.
- 7:40Speaker 8: Can Iran have a nuclear weapon? Absolutely not. Well, then
- 7:45Speaker 8: I'm right that I win.
- 7:46Speaker 9: Okay.
- 7:46Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It's still tricky. Gas is actually spiking right now. It
- 7:51Speaker 2: was up a little with the straight or Hormuz partially closed,
- 7:54Speaker 2: but now it's spiking. It's at, let me get the latest.
- 7:57Speaker 2: It was at 100. You know what? As we're speaking,
- 8:02Speaker 2: it dropped a little. It's 99, but still close to 100.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Brent crude. near 105. That's not good. So average gas
- 8:11Speaker 2: prices in America are up 13 cents from last week.
- 8:14Speaker 2: So there is a bit of a spike. Now, the
- 8:17Speaker 2: president now changing his tune a little in that he's
- 8:21Speaker 2: saying it's not going to come down until after the midterms.
- 8:24Speaker 2: He's probably right. And he explains that Iran, the only
- 8:31Speaker 2: strategy they have is keep this thing going through the
- 8:34Speaker 2: midterms and pray that the Democrats win. Because if the
- 8:37Speaker 2: Democrats win, they'll stop the war. They'll let Iran do
- 8:40Speaker 2: whatever the hell they want. And that's what Iran is
- 8:43Speaker 2: holding out for. They're getting killed militarily. They're getting crushed economically.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Why keep going? That's their hope, that Democrats will win
- 8:52Speaker 2: the midterm and go very easy on them and leave
- 8:55Speaker 2: them alone. But the president, again, long speech, got to
- 8:59Speaker 2: the Strait of Hormuz. The Hormuz Strait.
- 9:01Speaker 8: I think we should call the Hormuz Strait home.
- 9:05Speaker 2: We should call it the Trump strike. I should get
- 9:07Speaker 2: something out of it. The Trump strike. All right. Yeah, listen,
- 9:12Speaker 2: to the crowd in the room it played. I don't
- 9:14Speaker 2: know if that plays across America.
- 9:15Speaker 8: No matter how well you're doing, we seem not a president,
- 9:19Speaker 8: Democrat or Republican, almost never wins the midterms. We've got
- 9:23Speaker 8: to change that because we have something going that's so good.
- 9:27Speaker 8: We can't let that string be broken.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So I'm asking you to pretend that I'm on the ballot.
- 9:38Speaker 11: I'm on the ballot.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know. The problem is it's a rally speech.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It's a campaign speech. It's not exactly what you needed.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Fired up the crowd in the room. I guess the
- 9:51Speaker 2: purpose of that is these are all delegates. These are
- 9:54Speaker 2: the people you need to go back home and work
- 9:56Speaker 2: their ass off getting the vote out. They got to
- 9:59Speaker 2: work the phone. banks, knock on doors. So it's to
- 10:02Speaker 2: fire up the crowd in the room, get them really
- 10:05Speaker 2: hustling for the next couple of months in the election.
- 10:08Speaker 2: As far as getting votes, I don't know who saw this.
- 10:12Speaker 2: It was on Fox News. They weren't great about carrying it,
- 10:15Speaker 2: but you sort of preach into the choir there. I
- 10:18Speaker 2: would assume you already have those voters. As far as
- 10:22Speaker 2: independents seeing it, other voters seeing it, I don't know
- 10:26Speaker 2: where they're going to see it. I don't know how
- 10:27Speaker 2: they're going to see it. So overall, you've got to
- 10:31Speaker 2: say this whole thing was a bit of a dud.
- 10:33Speaker 2: There's a night two tonight. J.D. Vance will speak tonight,
- 10:38Speaker 2: but we'll get back to that. So 9-11, big ceremonies tomorrow.
- 10:45Speaker 2: The EPA files, the environmental files were released by Mom Donnie.
- 10:51Speaker 2: It's getting a little coverage. It's not getting the blockbuster
- 10:54Speaker 2: coverage you'd think it'd get. These files show that they
- 10:59Speaker 2: absolutely knew that the air was poisonous, toxic, that it
- 11:04Speaker 2: was going to hurt people, get them very sick, maybe
- 11:07Speaker 2: kill people, and they covered it up. They covered it up,
- 11:11Speaker 2: and it looks like they just were worried about liability,
- 11:15Speaker 2: that they didn't want to bankrupt the city with the lawsuit,
- 11:18Speaker 2: so they pretended the air was clean. It looks bad.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Mamdani might look like he did a noble thing, but
- 11:24Speaker 2: he did it for all the wrong reasons. He is
- 11:27Speaker 2: trying to just destroy the reputations of the Democrats, the Republicans,
- 11:31Speaker 2: the traditional guys, the Bloombergs, the Patakis, the Julianis, all
- 11:36Speaker 2: of that. This is to destroy their reputation. But the report, very,
- 11:40Speaker 2: very damning.
- 11:41Speaker 12: The city was making a fiduciary choice to prioritize the
- 11:44Speaker 12: economic stability of Lower Manhattan over the health and safety
- 11:47Speaker 12: of the firefighters, the police officers. the construction workers, and
- 11:51Speaker 12: the children that went back to school down there.
- 11:54Speaker 2: So they just wanted everybody to keep working and covered
- 11:58Speaker 2: it up. So now we'll see how big this story gets.
- 12:03Speaker 2: It's out there. It's getting covered, but just barely, just barely.
- 12:08Speaker 2: So we'll see if it mushrooms into something bigger. Hey,
- 12:11Speaker 2: you know, this Hunter Biden, this scamming, scheming, influence-peddling son
- 12:16Speaker 2: of the former president, Hunter Biden, His latest scheme was Bitcoin,
- 12:21Speaker 2: not Bitcoin, but it was a crypto coin. And he
- 12:24Speaker 2: released his crypto yesterday. And if you'll notice over the
- 12:28Speaker 2: last week or two, he's done a million interviews. He's
- 12:30Speaker 2: been going on every show he can get on promoting
- 12:33Speaker 2: this crypto that he was launching yesterday. And he launched
- 12:37Speaker 2: it in lots of people. I don't know who would
- 12:39Speaker 2: be this nuts, but they jumped in and bought the crypto.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Lots of people bought it. And by the end of
- 12:44Speaker 2: the day, they all got wiped out.
- 12:46Speaker 11: Anyway.
- 12:47Speaker 2: It was up to $ 300, and then it went down
- 12:49Speaker 2: to about $ 3. It was down, if you invested big,
- 12:53Speaker 2: you lost 99% on this Hunter crypto. Now, he could
- 12:58Speaker 2: have made a fortune. We don't know. His share, he's
- 13:03Speaker 2: given 33% of the coins. It's under lockup. He can't
- 13:07Speaker 2: sell it for six months, but... But under other names,
- 13:11Speaker 2: he might have jumped in and bought some. They are
- 13:13Speaker 2: looking at certain trades. Somebody jumped in at exactly the
- 13:17Speaker 2: right moment, jumped in with about $ 200, 000, caught the wave,
- 13:23Speaker 2: sold it for a million, and after fees, made about
- 13:28Speaker 2: an $ 850, 000 profit in one day. We don't know who
- 13:30Speaker 2: that was, but he could have done something like that.
- 13:33Speaker 2: But all the investors, most of them, almost all of them,
- 13:36Speaker 2: got completely wiped out. So, hey, Apple made the big
- 13:40Speaker 2: announcement yesterday, unveiling all these new products, the new iPhone
- 13:45Speaker 2: Pro 18. Incredible iPhone. It'll be the greatest phone ever.
- 13:50Speaker 2: All kinds of improvements. Huge battery life. They got a
- 13:54Speaker 2: battery that now can go about 35 hours, even watching video,
- 13:58Speaker 2: 40 hours. So huge development there. Real serious improvement in
- 14:05Speaker 2: the camera, which was already pretty phenomenal in the current iPhone.
- 14:10Speaker 2: So really improved camera. The big color will be the
- 14:14Speaker 2: dark cherry, the burgundy one. Screen is much better. They've
- 14:18Speaker 2: made it tougher than ever. The glass, the case. In fact,
- 14:21Speaker 2: they're telling you you don't need to even put a
- 14:23Speaker 2: case on it. It's so strong. Price is up, not
- 14:27Speaker 2: as bad as everybody thought. It's about $ 1, 300 for the
- 14:30Speaker 2: Pro Max, the biggest one. The new Apple Watch, they claim,
- 14:35Speaker 2: has much better health tracking. If you're using your Apple
- 14:38Speaker 2: Watch to track things, it's pretty good with the heart
- 14:42Speaker 2: and the pulse and the blood oxygen. It stinks with
- 14:45Speaker 2: the sleep tracking. It's really off with the sleep tracking.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But the new Apple Watch will have a much better
- 14:50Speaker 2: sensor on it, so hopefully it's going to be more accurate.
- 14:54Speaker 2: The big announcement was this flip phone that you could
- 14:57Speaker 2: open up, this folding phone. So the iPhone folds open
- 15:02Speaker 2: into two halves, and it's a big screen. But it's basically,
- 15:06Speaker 2: when you open it up, exactly the same size as
- 15:09Speaker 2: the mini tablet. Exactly the same. So you've got the
- 15:11Speaker 2: mini tablet. That's all you need. Most critics looking at
- 15:16Speaker 2: all this said, get the new iPhone Pro. It's incredible.
- 15:22Speaker 2: You might want to avoid the folding phone. It's really
- 15:24Speaker 2: not that useful. Critics that have used it for a
- 15:26Speaker 2: couple weeks said, You'll really get tired of it after
- 15:30Speaker 2: a while. It's gimmicky. It's novel. It's great. Again, if
- 15:34Speaker 2: you want to watch movies, if you want to watch video,
- 15:37Speaker 2: just get the mini, the tablet, the mini. It's exactly
- 15:41Speaker 2: the same thing. The other problem with that foldable phone,
- 15:45Speaker 2: the inner workings of it, the battery is split into
- 15:47Speaker 2: two halves, one on each side. It makes it a
- 15:49Speaker 2: little less stable. It's thinner. It doesn't have the battery life,
- 15:54Speaker 2: but the iPhone... Pro-18, that's the one you want to get.
- 15:58Speaker 2: It's phenomenal. Hey, Benjamin Netanyahu suing an Israeli newspaper. You
- 16:04Speaker 2: remember that story came out that he was warned about
- 16:07Speaker 2: the October 7th attacks. He knew about it ahead of time.
- 16:10Speaker 2: He did nothing well. We got fake news here. They
- 16:13Speaker 2: got fake news over there. And the fake news hates Netanyahu.
- 16:17Speaker 2: They have Netanyahu derangement syndrome in the left wing over there.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And this is a left-wing newspaper, The Prince. So he's
- 16:23Speaker 2: suing them. He's filed a libel lawsuit against this left-wing
- 16:27Speaker 2: newspaper going after him. It's kind of what you have
- 16:31Speaker 2: to do now since we went into this fake news
- 16:34Speaker 2: era when Trump came along 10 years ago, and it
- 16:37Speaker 2: didn't stop 11 years ago, and it kept going. They
- 16:40Speaker 2: just feel free to run all kinds of fake news.
- 16:42Speaker 2: New York Times gets caught all the time. ABC, NBC,
- 16:46Speaker 2: they get caught with fake stuff. So what can you
- 16:49Speaker 2: do about it? You can have the FCC try to
- 16:51Speaker 2: go after him. We'll get to that a little later, but...
- 16:54Speaker 2: Trump has been suing. He collected $ 15 million from ABC.
- 16:58Speaker 2: He got like $ 20 million from CBS. He's going after
- 17:01Speaker 2: NBC now. All he can do is keep suing them
- 17:03Speaker 2: and taking money from them just so they realize it's
- 17:06Speaker 2: a dangerous business model for them. That's the only thing
- 17:09Speaker 2: that's probably going to stop him. Anyway, we've got a
- 17:11Speaker 2: lot to get to. We'll get to Jimmy Kimmel and
- 17:14Speaker 2: his angry ranting. We'll get to the U.S. Open and more.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Coming up, Mark Simone here, 9 to noon. It's three
- 17:22Speaker 2: hours every day. 9 to noon every day here on 710WOR.
- 17:28Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Wow. Now, it's still summer. In fact, it's going to
- 17:39Speaker 2: be a hot day today. It's going to be upper 80s.
- 17:41Speaker 2: It's going to be humid. It's still summer. I know
- 17:44Speaker 2: it doesn't feel like it, but it's still summer until
- 17:47Speaker 2: about two weeks from today. Well, actually, two weeks from
- 17:50Speaker 2: yesterday is the first day From fall, two weeks from yesterday,
- 17:54Speaker 2: first day of fall. So it's still summer. Enjoy it.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I'm on Instagram. You know, you see all these influences
- 18:03Speaker 2: telling you, six things to do this summer, six things
- 18:05Speaker 2: to do on the beach. All right, now you go
- 18:09Speaker 2: on Instagram. It's all the fall stuff. Here's where to
- 18:12Speaker 2: go apple picking. Who the hell wants to go apple picking?
- 18:16Speaker 2: This is a big thing in the fall. You know,
- 18:18Speaker 2: if you go to Whole Foods, go to Wegman's. Go
- 18:22Speaker 2: to any supermarket. You walk in, there's 17 kinds of
- 18:26Speaker 2: apples right there in the front. Go apple picking there.
- 18:29Speaker 2: You don't have to drive out to the North Fork
- 18:31Speaker 2: of Long Island or way up to Westchester to go
- 18:34Speaker 2: apple picking. The other one is pumpkin picking. If you
- 18:38Speaker 2: live in the suburbs, as soon as you get to
- 18:39Speaker 2: the supermarket, right in front, there's a display of pumpkins.
- 18:42Speaker 2: You can pick them right there. Well, it's fun to
- 18:45Speaker 2: go actually pick your own apples. No, it's not. Let
- 18:49Speaker 2: a professional, let a professional pick them and clean them
- 18:52Speaker 2: and put them, you don't realize they have wax in them.
- 18:55Speaker 2: They look much better that way than if you actually
- 18:56Speaker 2: pick them up with, they got bugs crapping all over them. Anyway, so, hey,
- 19:01Speaker 2: speaking of Instagram, the administration, the Mamdani administration, the crazy
- 19:07Speaker 2: little Mamdani administration, there's an office, a city office that,
- 19:12Speaker 2: I forget what they call it. It's the press office.
- 19:16Speaker 2: And they're the ones that give out the press passes.
- 19:19Speaker 2: So when you go to an event where there's a
- 19:21Speaker 2: police line or something, if you got that press pass,
- 19:23Speaker 2: you can cross the police line and they give it
- 19:26Speaker 2: to the reporters of Channel 4, Channel 5. They give
- 19:29Speaker 2: it to WOR reporters. They give it to the newspaper reporters.
- 19:33Speaker 2: They have these press passes. They're hanging around in it. Well,
- 19:36Speaker 2: it turns out there's a little bit of a scandal brewing.
- 19:39Speaker 2: The Mamdani administration, instead of handing them out to real,
- 19:43Speaker 2: actual professional reporters and journalists, they've been handing them out
- 19:48Speaker 2: to Instagram influence. you know, like goofy 20-something influencers who
- 19:54Speaker 2: happen to like Mamdani. Most of these, there's some serious
- 20:00Speaker 2: influencers out there, but many of them are just goofy
- 20:03Speaker 2: 20-something women. And it turns out, you know, the Luigi
- 20:08Speaker 2: Mangione trial, they got these Luigi fangirls who are absolutely nuts,
- 20:13Speaker 2: many of them showing up with official New York City
- 20:17Speaker 2: press passes around their neck, able to cross the police lines.
- 20:21Speaker 2: This is thanks to the Mamdani administration. So City Council
- 20:26Speaker 2: Julie Menon, very powerful City Council speaker. And you know what?
- 20:31Speaker 2: She used to run the press office years ago. So
- 20:34Speaker 2: she knows about this stuff. She is pushing back on this,
- 20:37Speaker 2: cracking down on this. So you may see some action
- 20:41Speaker 2: taken against Mom Donnie. Now, Jimmy Kimmel, he's out. He's gone.
- 20:50Speaker 2: He's going to finish up this season. Remember they used
- 20:53Speaker 2: to have TV seasons? Remember you'd watch TV? Coming this
- 20:57Speaker 2: fall to ABC. Season premiere of this. Well, there is,
- 21:02Speaker 2: but nobody notices anymore. Did you know it's a new
- 21:04Speaker 2: TV season? Yeah, it actually started this week. So it's
- 21:08Speaker 2: the new season of TV shows, including Jimmy Kimmel. And
- 21:12Speaker 2: the season ends in May. And then that's the end
- 21:15Speaker 2: of Kimmel. He'll go away. They're not giving him a contract.
- 21:18Speaker 2: ABC is trying to half deny this is what's happening.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But it's true. He will not be back. He's wrapping
- 21:25Speaker 2: up his final season right now. So he's back and
- 21:29Speaker 2: last night went into a tirade. Believe it or not,
- 21:34Speaker 2: this guy's been on 24 years. It's hard to believe. Actually,
- 21:37Speaker 2: it's almost 25 years. He's done 4,000 shows. So he
- 21:41Speaker 2: came out swinging last night. He said, we've done 4,000
- 21:44Speaker 2: of these. That's a lot of shows. According to this
- 21:47Speaker 2: White House, it's too many shows. There are those who
- 21:51Speaker 2: said we would never last this long. Well, okay, you
- 21:55Speaker 2: did 24 years, but you also went from regular late
- 21:58Speaker 2: night ratings to the lowest ratings in the history of
- 22:00Speaker 2: late night. You really, really, really took the viewership down
- 22:05Speaker 2: to the lowest numbers ever in the history of late night,
- 22:08Speaker 2: which is why they're not renewing it. So he forgot
- 22:11Speaker 2: to mention that. He said, there are those who would
- 22:13Speaker 2: never think we'd stay on the air. There are even
- 22:16Speaker 2: those who use the regulatory might of the FCC to
- 22:20Speaker 2: unconstitutionally try to make sure we didn't last well past.
- 22:24Speaker 2: This guy's not exactly a constitutional scholar, so don't take
- 22:28Speaker 2: his word for that. But we did it the hard way, Brendan.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I don't know what the hard way was. He did
- 22:35Speaker 2: it the same as every other late night host. And
- 22:38Speaker 2: we are still here. Well, actually, you just got canceled
- 22:40Speaker 2: pretty much. You're wrapping up your final season. Kimmel went
- 22:44Speaker 2: after Donald Trump. He said, you know, Donald, you and
- 22:48Speaker 2: I have one thing in common. We both accomplished nothing
- 22:51Speaker 2: all summer long. Kimmel was on vacation all summer. He
- 22:56Speaker 2: went after inflation, Trump's approval numbers, the reflection pool, the
- 23:00Speaker 2: war in Iran. Well, this is why he took it
- 23:02Speaker 2: down to the lowest numbers in history. He's supposed to
- 23:06Speaker 2: do comedy. It's 1130 at night. See, the whole idea
- 23:09Speaker 2: that when they created The Tonight Show, Steve Allen created it,
- 23:12Speaker 2: Jack Parr, Johnny... The idea was you have some laughs,
- 23:16Speaker 2: it's entertainment, lighthearted, you laugh just before you go to sleep.
- 23:22Speaker 2: This guy in Colbert changed it into... Screaming, angry, vicious, political.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Let's get you riled up. We want you as mad
- 23:28Speaker 2: as can be before you go to sleep. The formula
- 23:31Speaker 2: didn't work. Colbert canceled, no ratings. Kimmel, in his final season,
- 23:38Speaker 2: having to wrap it up. So when Colbert went off,
- 23:41Speaker 2: they put on Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed, which is actual
- 23:45Speaker 2: comedians just doing comedy, just getting laughs and funny. It's
- 23:49Speaker 2: crushing comedy. Kimmel and Fallon in 18-49. That's the demo
- 23:54Speaker 2: they want, 18-49. It's crushing them in the ratings, so
- 23:58Speaker 2: look for ABC to do the same thing. Hey, we've
- 24:01Speaker 2: got a lot to get to, and we'll take some
- 24:02Speaker 2: calls coming up on 710WOR.
- 24:06Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Mark Simone?
- 24:09Speaker 5: Three!
- 24:10Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show, now nine till noon weekdays, 710WOR.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Hey, we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. 800-321-0710.
- 24:25Speaker 2: So the U.S. Open underway. It's on until the 13th.
- 24:32Speaker 2: When is that? I think that's Sunday. And I can't watch.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I like playing tennis. I can't sit there and watch
- 24:42Speaker 2: it on TV. He hits the ball. This guy hits
- 24:44Speaker 2: the ball. That guy hits the ball. It just keeps
- 24:46Speaker 2: going back and forth. Oh, there's exciting moments, but then.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Uh, now the most exciting moment yesterday, uh, the player,
- 24:54Speaker 2: she stops and starts yelling at a fan. Will you
- 24:58Speaker 2: stop smoking that weed? I don't want to get high.
- 25:01Speaker 2: You know, you're living in a different world right now.
- 25:04Speaker 2: You walk down the street, even right over there, 57th street,
- 25:07Speaker 2: walk up the block. Luckily I have allergies. I can't
- 25:10Speaker 2: smell a thing, but everybody tells me the whole block
- 25:12Speaker 2: smells like weed. Everywhere you go, the smell of pot
- 25:16Speaker 2: in the air. So apparently, uh, It was all over
- 25:18Speaker 2: the court at the U.S. Open, thanks to these people smoking. And, again,
- 25:22Speaker 2: she's a top athlete, doesn't want to get high while
- 25:24Speaker 2: she's playing, stops to scream at the fans. And they
- 25:27Speaker 2: said they'll put it out. They'll stop. Let's take some calls.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how are you doing?
- 25:35Speaker 11: Good morning, Mark.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Yes, Mike. We get excited here, or we get upset
- 25:38Speaker 2: when the summer's over. If you're in Florida, it's a
- 25:41Speaker 2: great time, right? Because now it's not 100 degrees.
- 25:44Speaker 10: I'm counting the days until it's below 90 degrees.
- 25:48Speaker 2: See, they're happy when the summer's over. But what do
- 25:50Speaker 2: you want to say, Mike?
- 25:52Speaker 10: Well, two quick things. One, last night's event, I think,
- 25:56Speaker 10: you know, if we think of it in terms of
- 25:57Speaker 10: a convention, that's just a word. You know, it's really,
- 26:00Speaker 10: it's a rally. And you've mentioned it before. Getting Republicans
- 26:03Speaker 10: out to vote is the biggest problem. And I think
- 26:05Speaker 10: that's why they're doing it. You need to get them
- 26:07Speaker 10: out to vote. Forget about the other side. You know,
- 26:09Speaker 10: they're going to do what they're going to do. It's
- 26:11Speaker 10: our side, the Republican side, I should say. You know,
- 26:15Speaker 10: they're lazy about getting out to vote, good times or
- 26:17Speaker 10: bad times. So I think it was really more like
- 26:19Speaker 10: a pep rally than it is.
- 26:20Speaker 2: All right, well, that's a good point.
- 26:22Speaker 10: I'm not going to call it that.
- 26:23Speaker 2: People say it didn't really get seen anywhere except Fox,
- 26:26Speaker 2: and they already have those. But you're right. It's to
- 26:28Speaker 2: get them out to vote. And the people in the
- 26:30Speaker 2: hall are the delegates. You need them to really go
- 26:32Speaker 2: work their ass off.
- 26:32Speaker 10: Exactly. They have to go back and pound the pavement,
- 26:35Speaker 10: as you said. You know, you've been on that forever
- 26:37Speaker 10: about this. Republicans low turnout to begin with. And the
- 26:41Speaker 10: other thing about these EPA, EPA, EPA files that Mamdani
- 26:45Speaker 10: is going to release or has released, I think they're
- 26:48Speaker 10: waiting till after the nine 11 events, obviously, because it's
- 26:51Speaker 10: a solemn occasion. And, and then, you know, in like
- 26:55Speaker 10: mid October, as it gets closer to midterms, they're going
- 26:57Speaker 10: to find the connection between Julia, you know, because Giuliani
- 27:00Speaker 10: is going to end up being the bad guy. You
- 27:02Speaker 10: know that even though they're all Democrats in power, you know, uh, Julia,
- 27:06Speaker 10: and they're going to connect that to Trump and blah, blah.
- 27:08Speaker 10: You know, you can see the dominoes being lined up
- 27:10Speaker 10: so they can knock over the first one and make Republicans.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah. But yeah, remember just as much blame will go
- 27:15Speaker 2: to the state. That's George Pataki. Just as much blame
- 27:18Speaker 2: will go to the federal government. They're the EPA and
- 27:20Speaker 2: the EPA commissioner at the time, Christy Todd women made
- 27:25Speaker 2: that statement. Don't worry. The air is safe. She's, Since apologized,
- 27:28Speaker 2: but that's going to haunt her for the rest of
- 27:30Speaker 2: her life.
- 27:30Speaker 10: But we shouldn't forget that there were many Democrats, you know,
- 27:33Speaker 10: all the senators from New York were Democrats, you know,
- 27:36Speaker 10: the governor, you know, Cuomo was a governor, you know,
- 27:39Speaker 10: Obama was president, you know, so there's lots of, but,
- 27:43Speaker 10: you know, they're framing it so the Republicans are going
- 27:46Speaker 10: to be the bad guys. I can see it coming.
- 27:48Speaker 11: Yeah. All right.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Thanks for calling. I just think Mom Donnie wants to
- 27:52Speaker 2: bring down all of them. Giuliani... Bloomberg, all the establishment, Pataki.
- 28:00Speaker 2: It just wants to destroy them all. So the crazy
- 28:02Speaker 2: socialists will, by comparison, they always suffer when compared to
- 28:07Speaker 2: these great establishment leaders. So he's trying to destroy them.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Let's go to David in Manhattan. David, how are you doing?
- 28:15Speaker 11: Good morning. Thank you very much, sir. I just wanted
- 28:17Speaker 11: to hear your opinion on President Trump saying how great
- 28:20Speaker 11: the neo-Nazi party in Germany was. It seems advance, musk,
- 28:25Speaker 11: and Rubio have a soft spot for them, too.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Well, nobody has denounced Nazis, neo-Nazis, more than Donald Trump.
- 28:31Speaker 2: You can check the record. Nobody's denounced him more than
- 28:33Speaker 2: he has.
- 28:34Speaker 11: Yeah, but he said that the party's going to make.
- 28:36Speaker 2: This is like a Charlottesville all over again. Remember when
- 28:38Speaker 2: they doctored up the tape where he said, there's very
- 28:41Speaker 2: fine people on both sides. And that was it. They
- 28:47Speaker 2: cut out the next sentence where he says, I'm not
- 28:48Speaker 2: talking about the neo-Nazis. They're to be totally condemned. Nobody
- 28:52Speaker 2: has denounced Nazis, neo-Nazis, Nobody has denounced David Duke more
- 28:57Speaker 2: than Donald Trump. You can check the video, as they'd say.
- 29:02Speaker 2: And nobody has fought, no president has ever, ever, ever
- 29:06Speaker 2: fought harder for Jews, for Israel, than Donald Trump. Let's
- 29:10Speaker 2: go to Joseph in Manhattan. Joseph, how are you doing?
- 29:15Speaker 13: Okay, Mark. Good morning to you. Mark, there was no
- 29:18Speaker 13: World Trade Center tower security. Remember Philippe Petit, the French president?
- 29:24Speaker 13: high-wire stunt, their little walker, his group was allowed to
- 29:29Speaker 13: get their equipment into the World Trade Center towers, hook
- 29:33Speaker 13: up the wires between the towers.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Tremendous amount of world trade security. You know, there were
- 29:38Speaker 2: 25 cops assigned to the perimeter of at all times
- 29:41Speaker 2: back then. 25 cops.
- 29:44Speaker 14: But he got in!
- 29:46Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you're talking about an incident in, what, 1973?
- 29:48Speaker 2: And there were no.
- 29:51Speaker 13: Security cameras on top of those two roof towers showing them?
- 29:55Speaker 2: You're talking about an incident in 1973 where One incident
- 29:59Speaker 2: in 40 years. That's a pretty good track record for
- 30:02Speaker 2: the security. That's a very good track record.
- 30:06Speaker 15: It should have been stopped.
- 30:09Speaker 2: That's why I always tell you, don't debate anybody. Don't
- 30:12Speaker 2: argue with anybody. There's nothing you can say to this guy.
- 30:15Speaker 2: He'll just keep parroting this. He'll just keep repeating over
- 30:17Speaker 2: and over. He'll keep repeating the same comment. Again, if
- 30:20Speaker 2: you had one guy, and that was a harmless guy.
- 30:24Speaker 2: It was just a stunt. But that was one incident
- 30:26Speaker 2: in 40, 50 years. It's not a bad track record.
- 30:28Speaker 2: There was a lot of security in the World Trade
- 30:30Speaker 2: Center that day. And there were 25 NYPD officers assigned
- 30:36Speaker 2: to patrol the perimeter of the World Trade Center. And
- 30:38Speaker 2: that's why terrorists, after carefully studying the thing, they plotted
- 30:43Speaker 2: this for a couple of years. That's why they realized
- 30:45Speaker 2: they'd have to do it from the air. That's the
- 30:47Speaker 2: only way they could pull it off. So tomorrow, 9-11, very, very,
- 30:53Speaker 2: very sad day. I don't like going through this every year.
- 30:56Speaker 2: And remember, I've asked on the program a number of times,
- 30:58Speaker 2: when does this stop? When do we stop reliving this? Well,
- 31:02Speaker 2: I checked with people in Hawaii. Apparently, they still do
- 31:05Speaker 2: it every Pearl Harbor anniversary. They still do a huge,
- 31:09Speaker 2: solemn ceremony. It's a big deal in Hawaii. It's on
- 31:12Speaker 2: television all over the place in Hawaii. In fact, they'll
- 31:17Speaker 2: do it this December 7th. It'll be the first year
- 31:20Speaker 2: that there's not a single survivor left. It's 85 years later,
- 31:24Speaker 2: but they'll do it. Do it this year. You know
- 31:26Speaker 2: that actually Japanese leaders fly in for that ceremony? They
- 31:30Speaker 2: offer apologies and all sorts of stuff, but they participate
- 31:34Speaker 2: in it. It's every year. So this 9-11 ceremony, I
- 31:37Speaker 2: guess if that's Pearl Harbor is the example, we'll be
- 31:40Speaker 2: doing this forever. Hey, we got a lot coming up.
- 31:44Speaker 2: We got two more hours to go and a lot
- 31:45Speaker 2: to get to. You know, this is WOR with the
- 31:49Speaker 2: best lineup in talk. We have the biggest names in
- 31:52Speaker 2: talk radio. literally the most listened to talk show host
- 31:55Speaker 2: in the world. Buck and Clay coming up at noon.
- 31:58Speaker 2: You know, they got up 10 million listeners. Did you
- 32:00Speaker 2: see the huge article in the Wall Street Journal about them?
- 32:03Speaker 2: Then you got the single most listened to radio show
- 32:06Speaker 2: on earth, Sean Hannity, 16 and a half million listeners.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Sean Hannity at three. You got Jesse Kelly at six.
- 32:13Speaker 2: You got Jimmy Fallon, one of the best known names
- 32:15Speaker 2: there is out there. Great comedian. Actually, he'll be with
- 32:18Speaker 2: us later in the show, but he's on nine to midnight.
- 32:22Speaker 2: And I'm on 9 to noon now, 9 a.m. to
- 32:24Speaker 2: noon every day here on 710WOR.
- 32:28Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Mark Simone?
- 32:31Speaker 5: Three!
- 32:32Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show, now 9 till noon weekdays, 710WOR.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Well, hey, it's going to be a hot day today.
- 32:43Speaker 2: It's going to be maybe in the upper 80s. It'll
- 32:46Speaker 2: be humid. There's a little chance of rain very, very
- 32:49Speaker 2: late tonight. But then it's going to be nice most
- 32:51Speaker 2: of the weekend. Friday, Saturday, it'll be about 80 degrees
- 32:54Speaker 2: and sunny. Could be some rain on Sunday. Hey, we've
- 32:58Speaker 2: got a lot to get to in the next hour.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Don't forget, it's three hours now, 9 to noon every day.
- 33:04Speaker 2: 9 a.m. till noon every day. And then... Coming up
- 33:09Speaker 2: in the next hour, we've got a lot to talk about.
- 33:11Speaker 2: We'll get to those crazy Mamdani grocery stores. We'll get
- 33:14Speaker 2: back to Apple. We'll get to the convention or whatever
- 33:19Speaker 2: it was last night, convention slash rally, and more coming
- 33:23Speaker 2: up right after the news. Mark Simone here on 710WOR.
- 33:28Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show continues on 710WOR.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Well, hey, it's hour number two. That's right. That's right.
- 33:38Speaker 2: It's three hours now, in case you don't know. It's
- 33:41Speaker 2: nine to noon. So if you just tuned in, you
- 33:44Speaker 2: missed the first hour. A lot to get to today.
- 33:47Speaker 2: So whatever it was last night, they call it a convention.
- 33:51Speaker 2: It was more of just a big rally. But you're
- 33:54Speaker 2: going to hear these stories. And if you read the
- 33:57Speaker 2: fake news, they're going to say, well, empty seats, a
- 33:59Speaker 2: lot of empty seats. And you're going to see this
- 34:02Speaker 2: one picture that keeps showing. Somebody went way up in
- 34:05Speaker 2: the back in the furthest end of the bleachers. And
- 34:08Speaker 2: there's some empty seats there. And they took a picture
- 34:11Speaker 2: where the place is clearly packed. But in the back,
- 34:14Speaker 2: there's a section of empty seats. But zoom in on
- 34:19Speaker 2: the picture. Zoom in on the stage, on the podium.
- 34:21Speaker 2: You'll notice there's nobody on the podium. There's nobody up
- 34:24Speaker 2: on the stage. It's pretty clear if you zoom in
- 34:27Speaker 2: and look. This is way before the thing started. People
- 34:31Speaker 2: tell me that once it started, the place was packed.
- 34:33Speaker 2: But if you zoom in there, you'll notice nothing is
- 34:36Speaker 2: happening yet. No one's on the stage. Nobody's on the
- 34:39Speaker 2: side of the stage. It's way before the convention began.
- 34:45Speaker 2: The big shocking part of this, first of all, the
- 34:48Speaker 2: president's speech was an hour and 47 minutes. Nobody can
- 34:53Speaker 2: watch one speech for an hour and 47 minutes. You
- 35:01Speaker 2: might say, hey, you're on three hours. Well, yeah, but remember,
- 35:04Speaker 2: we take breaks. We have a newscast. We got a
- 35:09Speaker 2: weather forecast. We take another break. We talk to a guest.
- 35:13Speaker 2: It's not just me for one hour and 47 minutes
- 35:16Speaker 2: talking straight. You can't do that. It's way too long.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Even if you're the biggest Trump fan, an hour and
- 35:24Speaker 2: 47 minutes? You know, after about 48 minutes, you're kind
- 35:28Speaker 2: of saying, well, I think I got the point. So
- 35:31Speaker 2: it's an hour and 47 minutes. You're on against the
- 35:34Speaker 2: NFL opening game, which happens to be an incredible matchup.
- 35:38Speaker 2: It's the two Super Bowl teams playing again. So you're
- 35:41Speaker 2: on against that. It's like one of those idiots like
- 35:46Speaker 2: Bruce Springsteen that do these concerts three hours. Three-hour concert.
- 35:50Speaker 2: There are people that do that. I mean, I don't
- 35:54Speaker 2: care how much you like the artist. Do an hour.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Do your greatest hits. It's enough. All right.
- 35:59Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Maybe if you're a big, big, legendary superstar, okay, maybe
- 36:04Speaker 2: you could do two hours. Three hours? Nobody wants three
- 36:08Speaker 2: hours of this stuff. Speaking of concerts, Billy Joel. You know,
- 36:12Speaker 2: he's been suffering some medical problems and he had to
- 36:16Speaker 2: stop touring and he's supposedly coming back. But he finally
- 36:20Speaker 2: revealed it was more serious than we thought. It was
- 36:23Speaker 2: actual brain surgery. Billy Joel actually had.
- 36:28Speaker 2: It's excess fluid in his brain. It's called NPH. It's
- 36:34Speaker 2: a very scary thing. They had to implant a shunt
- 36:37Speaker 2: to drain excess fluid from inside his skull. He first
- 36:42Speaker 2: noticed his balance wasn't good. He had this sense of
- 36:45Speaker 2: being on a boat and rocking. Went to all kinds
- 36:48Speaker 2: of neurosurgeons. Had to have brain surgery. It's pretty serious stuff.
- 36:52Speaker 2: And he got through it okay. That's the tough part.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Now he has to go through physical therapy. Doctors will
- 36:58Speaker 2: keep an eye on him, and he may be touring
- 37:00Speaker 2: again pretty soon. Here he is. Next gen, next gen.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Let's try it again.
- 37:07Speaker 16: Because of my job, which is playing rock and roll
- 37:11Speaker 16: music very loud, that it was giving me something like
- 37:15Speaker 16: a concussion every time I did a show. It was
- 37:18Speaker 16: causing damage to my brain nerves, and I could be
- 37:23Speaker 16: losing more brain cells than The more I played, the
- 37:27Speaker 16: more shows I did. And I realized that means I
- 37:31Speaker 16: shouldn't be doing this right now.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I got to improve.
- 37:34Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 2: That's the other thing about these concerts. Too loud. Way
- 37:40Speaker 2: too loud. I mean, if you love the artist and
- 37:43Speaker 2: you love their music and you put on their music
- 37:45Speaker 2: at home, you wouldn't turn it up that loud. And
- 37:47Speaker 2: who are these people that sit right in the front
- 37:49Speaker 2: next to the speaker?
- 37:51Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Too loud. It's too loud everywhere. Like when there's a
- 37:54Speaker 2: DJ somewhere in a restaurant or in a bar. Too loud.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Even when you're in a restaurant and they've got background music,
- 38:02Speaker 2: it's always too loud. Now, that's different. That's deliberate, believe
- 38:05Speaker 2: it or not. When you go to a restaurant, you
- 38:07Speaker 2: think things are just there. No, it's all very scientific
- 38:12Speaker 2: in a restaurant. Very scientific. The menu is laid out
- 38:17Speaker 2: in a scientific way to get you to buy certain things.
- 38:19Speaker 2: If they want you to order certain things, They put
- 38:22Speaker 2: them in certain spots on the menu. They know where
- 38:24Speaker 2: the eye goes. They also, if you look at a menu,
- 38:28Speaker 2: there's a list of things. And the first one is
- 38:30Speaker 2: very expensive. The first appetizer, the first entree, the first
- 38:35Speaker 2: entree is like $ 99. You go, what? No, it's deliberate.
- 38:40Speaker 2: They don't expect you to buy that. They don't expect
- 38:42Speaker 2: you to order that. It's to make the rest of
- 38:45Speaker 2: them look very cheap. So then when you look down
- 38:46Speaker 2: and you see $ 49, you go, whew, that looks cheap.
- 38:49Speaker 2: But if you just started, nope, just said $ 49, it
- 38:52Speaker 2: sounds high. And then the music is very carefully scientifically calculated.
- 38:58Speaker 2: It depends what they want you to do. Some restaurants,
- 39:00Speaker 2: they got big turnover. They want you to eat fast
- 39:03Speaker 2: so they can get the table back so they have
- 39:05Speaker 2: actual music that's much faster. It's a much faster beat.
- 39:09Speaker 2: It's to increase your rhythm, get you to eat faster. Hey,
- 39:12Speaker 2: speaking of restaurants, Carnegie Deli, Opens Tuesday, I hear. Tuesday,
- 39:18Speaker 2: it's going to open the brand new Carnegie Deli. It's
- 39:20Speaker 2: been gone for 10 years, and it's not going to
- 39:24Speaker 2: be in the exact same spot it was because something
- 39:27Speaker 2: else opened there. I think it's a... luggage store or something,
- 39:31Speaker 2: or a florist or something. Anyway, they're doing very well.
- 39:34Speaker 2: So they couldn't get the space back, but they're going
- 39:36Speaker 2: to move one block south of there. And believe it
- 39:43Speaker 2: or not, the place they're now in was the location
- 39:46Speaker 2: of the old stage delicatessen. which for like 40 years
- 39:50Speaker 2: was the big rival of the Carnegie Deli. The stage,
- 39:54Speaker 2: in fact, had been the deli of New York, the
- 39:56Speaker 2: most famous deli, the biggest deli in the 50s and
- 40:00Speaker 2: the 60s. There was an owner called Max Asness, and
- 40:04Speaker 2: he was famous. They'd introduce him on the Ed Sullivan show.
- 40:07Speaker 2: They would have him on the Tonight Show. He was
- 40:09Speaker 2: the mystery guest on What's My Line. This guy was
- 40:13Speaker 2: the deli owner famous in America. Then in the mid-70s,
- 40:17Speaker 2: Two guys bought the Carnegie, Leo Steiner, Milton Parker. Leo
- 40:22Speaker 2: was like the new Max Astin. He was all over television.
- 40:24Speaker 2: He was funny. He was a loud mouth. He was
- 40:26Speaker 2: a great guy. And all of a sudden, the Carnegie
- 40:29Speaker 2: became the number one. Also, they had much better food.
- 40:32Speaker 2: And 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, Carnegie was the deli. So
- 40:37Speaker 2: it closed all kinds of rent problems, legal problems, building problems.
- 40:42Speaker 2: It's been gone 10 years. It'll reopen on Tuesday.
- 40:45Speaker 5: Okay.
- 40:46Speaker 2: 7th Avenue, new location would be about 54th, 53rd, where
- 40:50Speaker 2: the old stage deli was. It'll be back. So, hey,
- 40:53Speaker 2: last night's convention, whatever the hell it was with Donald Trump,
- 40:56Speaker 2: the other thing is speech was way too long. Somewhere
- 41:00Speaker 2: in there, he promised to, you know, if you reelect
- 41:03Speaker 2: the Republicans, we'll give you $ 5, 000 in cash. Everybody will
- 41:08Speaker 2: get $ 5, 000 in cash. Now, of course, the fake news
- 41:12Speaker 2: going nuts. I'm looking at MSNBC right now. They're all
- 41:15Speaker 2: over this. Trump tries to bribe voters. The Drudge Report,
- 41:19Speaker 2: which is now a left-wing thing. Drudge doesn't run it anymore,
- 41:22Speaker 2: but the people that run it now made it a
- 41:24Speaker 2: left-wing thing. Trump tries to bribe voters. Well, it's a
- 41:30Speaker 2: Democratic tactic. You know, he's borrowed from the Democrats. They're
- 41:33Speaker 2: always bribing voters. Remember Biden with, I'll forgive your student loans.
- 41:36Speaker 2: I'll let you go on the student loans, which is
- 41:39Speaker 2: a bribe. Remember Obama, I'll give you a free phone.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Everybody who votes for me gets a phone. It's a bribe.
- 41:45Speaker 2: So he kind of stole their idea. Now, how would
- 41:49Speaker 2: you do that? Give out $ 5, 000? Nobody knows. Just like
- 41:52Speaker 2: the forgive the student loans. Nobody knows how you'd actually
- 41:55Speaker 2: execute that and make it happen. But Trump explains it.
- 41:59Speaker 2: He said the economy will boom under Republicans. It already
- 42:02Speaker 2: has to a certain degree. But if we're reelected and
- 42:05Speaker 2: we've got two more years, we'll really make the economy boom.
- 42:10Speaker 2: And he said, you'll get a dividend. That's what they
- 42:12Speaker 2: do in big, big companies. If they have an incredible,
- 42:15Speaker 2: unbelievable year, they give stockholders a dividend. So, I mean, logically,
- 42:20Speaker 2: it makes sense. Practically, I don't know if it's even possible.
- 42:24Speaker 2: And again, the speech too long. Gimmicks like that don't help.
- 42:29Speaker 2: But we'll see. We'll see what the fallout is for it.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Oil prices, let me just check again. They have been spiking. Yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 2: $ 100 a barrel. That's high, very high. Brent crude, $ 105
- 42:45Speaker 2: a barrel. That's very high. So the president also explained
- 42:49Speaker 2: last night Iran will not cave in until after the midterms. Now,
- 42:54Speaker 2: once this stuff ends, we've been through this before, where
- 42:57Speaker 2: every war that closed the Strait of Hormuz happened during
- 42:59Speaker 2: the Iraq war. They closed the Strait of Hormuz. Oil
- 43:02Speaker 2: goes to $ 110 a barrel. It gets crazy. As soon
- 43:04Speaker 2: as it's over, Not only does the gas price come down,
- 43:11Speaker 2: it plunges. In fact, after the Iraq war, when it
- 43:14Speaker 2: was all over and it plunged, it went down to
- 43:17Speaker 2: $ 40 a barrel. It got incredibly low. So you'll see
- 43:20Speaker 2: that happen here. But the president now saying it may
- 43:26Speaker 2: not happen until November. Now, the other thing is we've
- 43:29Speaker 2: got this fight with Canada tariff battle. We put a
- 43:33Speaker 2: tariff on them. They're putting a tariff on us. They
- 43:36Speaker 2: fought right back. So President Trump now banning Canadian alcohol brands.
- 43:42Speaker 2: And now the fake news is trying to get everybody
- 43:44Speaker 2: upset about this. But let's be honest. When you go
- 43:49Speaker 2: into a bar or you're ordering drinks, do you really
- 43:51Speaker 2: care if it's from Canada? If they ban champagne, that'd
- 43:55Speaker 2: be one thing. If they banned all the top vodkas,
- 43:59Speaker 2: which are generally from Russia or someplace, but no Canadian alcohol.
- 44:04Speaker 2: It doesn't sound too bad. It doesn't sound too bad.
- 44:06Speaker 2: They do make malt beer, sparkling wine, vermouth, and cider.
- 44:14Speaker 2: I can live without cider. I don't need any vermouth.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Keep your sparkling wine. Malt beer, I don't need. Now,
- 44:22Speaker 2: there is Canadian bourbon, rum, gin, vodka, and tequila. They're
- 44:27Speaker 2: banned too, but I don't think anybody cares. There's nobody
- 44:30Speaker 2: ever in history that ever said to the waiter or
- 44:33Speaker 2: the bartender, Make sure it's Canadian vodka. Don't you have
- 44:38Speaker 2: any Canadian vodka? It doesn't even sound good. Now, Speaker
- 44:44Speaker 2: Mike Johnson, last night, also, he's going to speak tonight
- 44:50Speaker 2: at the convention, but he talked to reporters last night,
- 44:53Speaker 2: pointing out, if you're Hakeem Jeffries, if you're Chuck Schumer,
- 44:56Speaker 2: you're going to get done in by these crazies. You'll
- 44:59Speaker 2: let them take over your party. Mamdani, El-Sayed, Ocasio-Cortez, And
- 45:05Speaker 2: you keep bowing to them, catering to them as if
- 45:08Speaker 2: you'll all get along. Mike Johnson pointing out, they're going
- 45:12Speaker 2: to eat you alive. These crazies, these socialists, if they
- 45:17Speaker 2: win a lot in the midterms, they're going to throw
- 45:19Speaker 2: you the hell out. First thing they're going to do
- 45:21Speaker 2: is get rid of Hakeem Jeffries as speaker. They're going
- 45:25Speaker 2: to primary Chuck Schumer right out of the race. These
- 45:29Speaker 2: Schumers and these cowards, the Pelosi's bowing and catering to
- 45:33Speaker 2: these socialists don't realize... They're the first ones that are
- 45:35Speaker 2: going to get eaten alive by these people. Hey, Lindsay Clancy,
- 45:40Speaker 2: I don't talk about the case too much, only because
- 45:43Speaker 2: I can't figure it out. I just can't figure it out.
- 45:45Speaker 2: There's a lot of sympathy for her out there. Eleven
- 45:49Speaker 2: jurors would not convict her. Even in the public, there's
- 45:53Speaker 2: a lot of support for her. I don't know. What
- 45:56Speaker 2: am I missing? If you strangle your three children to death,
- 46:02Speaker 2: I I don't know where you get any sympathy for
- 46:05Speaker 2: somebody who did that. I know she went through psychological
- 46:08Speaker 2: trauma and psycho whatever, but strangling your kids to death,
- 46:14Speaker 2: choking even your baby to death. Could you imagine doing that?
- 46:18Speaker 2: So this lawyer is pretty good. This Kevin Reddington, the
- 46:22Speaker 2: old guy with the glasses. Now, he doesn't have a
- 46:24Speaker 2: great track record. He's lost a lot of cases, but
- 46:27Speaker 2: he's pretty much at the end of his career. He's 75.
- 46:31Speaker 2: This is a big, strong way to end his career.
- 46:33Speaker 2: He looks pretty good here. He is on a media
- 46:36Speaker 2: blitz all over the place. He called for President Trump
- 46:39Speaker 2: to pardon her. That's not going to happen. He's all
- 46:42Speaker 2: over television, all over the media, all over radio, talking
- 46:46Speaker 2: about how bad Lindsay is doing right now. She's currently
- 46:49Speaker 2: being held at a state-run psychiatric facility, Tewksbury Hospital. She's
- 46:55Speaker 2: crying all day and night. She's in a very dark place,
- 46:57Speaker 2: he says. He says she was an incredible person, an
- 47:01Speaker 2: amazing mother, except for the killing the kids, an amazing mother.
- 47:07Speaker 2: And he said that she keeps asking for her kids.
- 47:11Speaker 2: I want my babies. She keeps saying, I want my babies.
- 47:17Speaker 2: This sounds great, but you choked him to death. You
- 47:19Speaker 2: killed them. You methodically killed your three children. You murdered them.
- 47:23Speaker 2: You killed them. But the reason he's doing all this,
- 47:26Speaker 2: this media blitz, he's trying to get a deal with
- 47:29Speaker 2: with the prosecutors. Prosecutors have to decide if they want
- 47:33Speaker 2: to retry her. Now, look what just happened when they
- 47:35Speaker 2: tried to try her. It backfired on them. So they
- 47:39Speaker 2: might be afraid to try it again. He's trying to
- 47:41Speaker 2: get them to make a plea deal. He wants a
- 47:43Speaker 2: plea deal that involves not one day in jail. That's
- 47:46Speaker 2: all he's after, just that she not go to jail. Now,
- 47:49Speaker 2: if he pulls this off, well, you got to give
- 47:53Speaker 2: the guy credit. That's pretty amazing. Anyway, we've got a
- 47:56Speaker 2: lot to get to. We'll get to Mamdani and his
- 47:58Speaker 2: crazy grocery store scheme, which will never happen, by the way,
- 48:02Speaker 2: because there's another obstacle here. We'll get to that. We'll
- 48:05Speaker 2: get to Apple, everything they introduced and more. We'll take
- 48:09Speaker 2: some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number. 800-321-0710. 3, 2, 1, 0, 7, 10. No.
- 48:19Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show. 9 till noon weekdays. More Mark. 7.
- 48:26Speaker 2: 10, W-O-R. Hey, let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. 800-321-0710.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Let's go to Lou in Oyster Bay. Lou, how you doing?
- 48:40Speaker 15: Mark, love your show.
- 48:41Speaker 11: Love you.
- 48:41Speaker 9: Talked to you last time about Sean Hannity and the
- 48:43Speaker 9: steak at Rothman's.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Rothman's, great restaurant. The Sbarro family owns it now, and
- 48:50Speaker 2: they just opened a new one in Smithtown called Chaz.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I know all about it.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Oh, you do?
- 48:56Speaker 9: But anyway, a little pet peeve, a little pet peeve. Listen,
- 49:00Speaker 9: I'm a retired Port Authority police officer. My brother was NYPD,
- 49:03Speaker 9: retired also, second-grade detective. And God bless him, my son,
- 49:08Speaker 9: three months out of the academy, NYPD.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Very good.
- 49:12Speaker 9: I say this with all love and respect, nothing against MPD,
- 49:16Speaker 9: but the Port Authority has got to protect its house.
- 49:18Speaker 9: And you had said earlier that there were 25 NYPD
- 49:21Speaker 9: cops on the grounds of Port Authority. And God bless.
- 49:25Speaker 9: NYPD also lost officers that day. So, again, this is nothing.
- 49:28Speaker 9: It's just they were Port Authority runs the World Trade
- 49:31Speaker 9: Center and there were 25 police. Port Authority cops there.
- 49:34Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 49:35Speaker 2: And NYPD also has cops. They don't work in the building,
- 49:37Speaker 2: but they work what they call the perimeter.
- 49:39Speaker 11: They do.
- 49:40Speaker 9: Absolutely. But I just wanted to give them the recognition,
- 49:43Speaker 9: the department, because we're always living under the shadow of
- 49:46Speaker 9: the NYPD.
- 49:47Speaker 7: You know that.
- 49:47Speaker 9: You're from New York.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Port Authority police.
- 49:49Speaker 9: You're a cop in New York.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Port Authority police are great, but they're not the real NYPD.
- 49:54Speaker 2: They're not Andy Sipulis.
- 49:56Speaker 9: I was just going to say that.
- 49:57Speaker 15: I was just going to say that.
- 49:58Speaker 17: They're not Jamie Reagan.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Let's be honest.
- 50:02Speaker 9: Yeah, well, if you're not a cop.
- 50:05Speaker 2: They're not Danny Reagan.
- 50:07Speaker 9: And you're not in NYPD. You're just not NYPD. So
- 50:11Speaker 9: we've got to give our little shouts out once in
- 50:13Speaker 9: a while.
- 50:13Speaker 18: All right.
- 50:13Speaker 2: Thank you, Mark.
- 50:14Speaker 15: Great show.
- 50:14Speaker 2: They're not square badges, but they're not Danny Reagan.
- 50:18Speaker 9: Well, we did lose 37 guys on 9-11.
- 50:20Speaker 2: No, I know. I know. Port Authority police are very good.
- 50:24Speaker 9: We still wear the badge. We still wear the shield.
- 50:26Speaker 9: And I have this conversation in Baltimore. break-in with my brother,
- 50:29Speaker 9: and now my son is going to bust my chops now, too.
- 50:32Speaker 2: I've got to be honest, Lou. You're a little touchy.
- 50:35Speaker 2: A little touchy. I want you to go to Rothman's
- 50:37Speaker 2: tonight and have a drink.
- 50:39Speaker 11: I will.
- 50:40Speaker 15: Have a great show, as always.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Go across the street. Christina's Market, one of the best
- 50:44Speaker 2: supermarkets in the world. Let's go to Jim in New Jersey. Jim,
- 50:48Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 50:50Speaker 11: Hi, Mark.
- 50:51Speaker 15: I want to let everybody know why Republicans don't want
- 50:54Speaker 15: to vote. One of the big issues is they don't
- 50:57Speaker 15: want to get on jury duty. You go to vote.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Well, I hate to break it to you. I don't
- 51:03Speaker 2: mean to bring up reality here, but it's not 1973 anymore.
- 51:06Speaker 2: They don't use the voter rolls for jury duty. They
- 51:08Speaker 2: use motor vehicles. They use leases, rents. It's not based
- 51:13Speaker 2: on who votes anymore. Well, that's good to hear. The
- 51:19Speaker 2: reason they do that is over the years, less and
- 51:21Speaker 2: less people vote. So take this last mayoral race, you know,
- 51:25Speaker 2: like 12 percent of the public vote. So they can't
- 51:28Speaker 2: rely on the voter rolls to look for names anymore.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Let's go to David in Queens. David, how are you doing?
- 51:35Speaker 15: Hey, Mark.
- 51:35Speaker 19: Good morning, Mark.
- 51:36Speaker 20: With all due respect, I don't believe that radio hosts
- 51:40Speaker 20: or anyone in like media should be commenting on the
- 51:42Speaker 20: Clancy case.
- 51:44Speaker 2: OK, we'll stop. Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn.
- 51:48Speaker 19: Vincent, how are you doing? Good morning, Mark. Mark, I
- 51:53Speaker 19: just want to comment on Lindsey Clancy's lawyer.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I'm sorry, you're not allowed to. Word came down from
- 52:00Speaker 2: Dave and wherever the hell he was.
- 52:02Speaker 11: Well, hey, Dave.
- 52:04Speaker 19: I used to throw bums like that. That guy looks
- 52:08Speaker 19: like some old rummy that routinely I would send one
- 52:11Speaker 19: of the bouncers in the club to throw in the street.
- 52:16Speaker 19: That guy is 75 years old. Well, I begged the
- 52:20Speaker 19: public to go on Instagram in January 2024. There's a
- 52:26Speaker 19: photo of Mark Simone and myself in the iHeart Studios,
- 52:31Speaker 19: the WOR Studios. And at the time, I was 75
- 52:35Speaker 19: years old.
- 52:36Speaker 2: Really? You're kidding.
- 52:38Speaker 11: What?
- 52:39Speaker 2: You're kidding. You don't look it.
- 52:41Speaker 19: Well, that's what I'm saying. That guy looked like old
- 52:44Speaker 19: rummies that I would routinely have to throw out because
- 52:48Speaker 19: they'd overstay their welcome or they'd have their hands in
- 52:53Speaker 19: the wrong place in the club. So, anyway, I could
- 52:58Speaker 19: see how that one holdout wanted a pinup for murder.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Well, listen, Vincent, I like when you use those old-fashioned
- 53:07Speaker 2: terms like a rummy, a rummy. That's like, look here,
- 53:10Speaker 2: you mugs.
- 53:11Speaker 19: An old drunk, man. How about that? But this woman
- 53:16Speaker 19: should be sent either. Is Creedmoor still in operation, Mark?
- 53:20Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 53:22Speaker 19: Well, they should send her. I know Kings Park out
- 53:25Speaker 19: in Long Island, that nut, St. Louis Island, is still
- 53:29Speaker 19: in operation. They should send her to the equivalent place
- 53:34Speaker 19: up in Massachusetts, and she could practice her Bostonian accent
- 53:39Speaker 19: as she speaks to the walls. This woman should never
- 53:44Speaker 19: see the light of day again. And this is a
- 53:47Speaker 19: true story. In Italy, they learned from the Americans, and
- 53:51Speaker 19: the criminals were pulling that criminally insane stuff over there.
- 53:55Speaker 19: Then they changed the law. unless you have a track
- 53:58Speaker 19: record where you were seeing a shrink, you were on meds,
- 54:04Speaker 19: you were hospitalized. If you go out and whack somebody,
- 54:07Speaker 19: they're not going to take the insanity.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Well, didn't she have a record of that? Wasn't she
- 54:11Speaker 2: under psychiatric care?
- 54:13Speaker 19: No, I'm saying in Italy they're doing that. But, Mark,
- 54:18Speaker 19: you don't... To choke out three kids like that takes time.
- 54:25Speaker 19: And you go from one to the other. Well, what
- 54:28Speaker 19: are you going for? All right.
- 54:30Speaker 2: I agree with you. I agree. That's why I can't
- 54:32Speaker 2: have any sympathy.
- 54:33Speaker 19: For this woman.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Great call.
- 54:35Speaker 19: Go away, Mark.
- 54:36Speaker 2: I agree. Thanks for calling. Hey, when we come back,
- 54:39Speaker 2: the hunt for Steve Moore. I think he'll be here
- 54:41Speaker 2: this time. We'll talk to Steve Moore next. on 710WOR.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Live from the WOR Life Fact Studios, The Mark Simone Show.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Well, Steve Moore, the brilliant economist, best-selling author. You should
- 54:57Speaker 2: get his book, The Trump Economic Miracle. You'll learn a
- 54:59Speaker 2: lot about all of this from that book. And make
- 55:03Speaker 2: sure you sign up for... He runs the Committee to
- 55:05Speaker 2: Unleash Prosperity, and every day they put out the best
- 55:08Speaker 2: daily newsletter and analysis. It's News Issues Analysis. You'll really
- 55:13Speaker 2: love it. It's free. It comes right to your email.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Just go to UnleashProsperity.com and sign up. UnleashProsperity.com. Steve Moore,
- 55:21Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 55:23Speaker 15: Well, good morning, Mark. I am in Dallas for the
- 55:26Speaker 15: big convention, and I'm getting very excited about my $ 5, 000 check.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Yeah, well, but now they're calling it a bribe, as
- 55:34Speaker 2: is discussed, but every president candidate does this. Obama with
- 55:38Speaker 2: the phones. The Obama phones, right?
- 55:40Speaker 15: I forgot about that.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Biden with the student loan forgiveness. They all do this,
- 55:44Speaker 2: but how would you actually.
- 55:47Speaker 15: We shouldn't, as Republicans, try to outbid the Democrats, because
- 55:50Speaker 15: you know what? The Democrats are going to say, you
- 55:52Speaker 15: vote for us, we'll give you $ 10, 000.
- 55:54Speaker 2: How would you actually execute that? You can't actually do that.
- 56:00Speaker 2: What's that? How would you actually execute that?
- 56:03Speaker 15: Yeah, well, it would cost a trillion dollars if you
- 56:05Speaker 15: did the $ 5, 000... you know, bonus. But look, I think
- 56:11Speaker 15: the economy is decent speech by the president. The economy
- 56:14Speaker 15: really is strong. It's much, much stronger than the media
- 56:17Speaker 15: is portraying it as. Now, I am nervous about the
- 56:21Speaker 15: oil price. It continues to rise. We're up about, let's see, oh,
- 56:25Speaker 15: $ 100 now. That's a bad, bad, bad, bad, bad sign.
- 56:28Speaker 15: The first thing I usually look at when I get
- 56:29Speaker 15: up in the morning is what's happening to the crude
- 56:32Speaker 15: oil price, because we can't see inflation come down until
- 56:35Speaker 15: that oil price comes down. So That's disturbing. But, you know,
- 56:41Speaker 15: everything else in the economy is going so well. That's
- 56:42Speaker 15: what's so frustrating. I mean, we've got more jobs. I
- 56:45Speaker 15: don't think I've talked to you since we came out
- 56:46Speaker 15: with the jobs report last Friday. That was a blockbuster number,
- 56:50Speaker 15: really good number. And we have more jobs available than
- 56:54Speaker 15: people willing and looking for work. So, you know, it
- 56:57Speaker 15: depends on what your profession is, obviously. But it is
- 57:00Speaker 15: a situation where all the investment money around the world
- 57:04Speaker 15: is coming to the United States. So that's a good thing.
- 57:06Speaker 2: Isn't this one of the few job reports where it's
- 57:08Speaker 2: way up in its actual private sector? It's not government jobs?
- 57:12Speaker 15: There were some added government jobs, although Trump has really
- 57:16Speaker 15: drained the swamp. He's reduced the federal employment level to
- 57:20Speaker 15: its lowest level in like 50 years.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Did you know that?
- 57:23Speaker 5: No.
- 57:24Speaker 15: So he has been draining that swamp, and that's been
- 57:27Speaker 15: a good thing. There was a slight tick up in
- 57:29Speaker 15: state and local hiring in the last report, but it
- 57:31Speaker 15: was almost all private sector jobs. By the way, we
- 57:33Speaker 15: have something in our hotline, and I know you read
- 57:35Speaker 15: it very religiously.
- 57:36Speaker 11: I do.
- 57:36Speaker 15: You probably haven't seen it yet because it just came out.
- 57:38Speaker 2: I just saw it.
- 57:39Speaker 15: But do you know what the premium is for government
- 57:42Speaker 15: employees over what private sector workers make?
- 57:46Speaker 2: Well, you see, I get the hotline every day.
- 57:48Speaker 15: You haven't seen it yet.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Forty percent.
- 57:51Speaker 15: Forty percent.
- 57:51Speaker 2: I read it in your hotline just now.
- 57:53Speaker 15: There you go. That's amazing. I mean, I just want
- 57:56Speaker 15: to make sure people understand.
- 57:58Speaker 20: Okay.
- 58:00Speaker 15: When you look at, you know, equally skilled people like
- 58:03Speaker 15: a carpenter who works for the government versus, you know,
- 58:05Speaker 15: a carpenter in the private sector or an accountant who
- 58:08Speaker 15: works for the government and an accountant in the private sector.
- 58:10Speaker 15: So comparing apples with apples, the private sector worker is
- 58:15Speaker 15: paid about 25% less than the government worker. But you
- 58:21Speaker 15: know where the real disparity is?
- 58:23Speaker 9: No.
- 58:24Speaker 15: The benefits.
- 58:25Speaker 2: The benefits.
- 58:26Speaker 15: So you get That's lavish benefits. First of all, there's no,
- 58:30Speaker 15: virtually no one gets, until Trump came around, nobody ever
- 58:33Speaker 15: gets fired from the government. And then you have all
- 58:36Speaker 15: these other, you know, things that are going on as well,
- 58:39Speaker 15: you know, like lavish retirement benefits. So those are about 70% higher.
- 58:43Speaker 15: So the problem with this is that, you know, who
- 58:47Speaker 15: pays the government workers, the private sector workers? You can
- 58:50Speaker 15: only have a government worker if you have somebody in
- 58:52Speaker 15: the private sector working to pay their, so that's just
- 58:54Speaker 15: not fair. I mean, that we're so overpaying these folks
- 58:59Speaker 15: who are working for what I call club fed.
- 59:04Speaker 2: I like that. Also, the manufacturing boom that we have
- 59:10Speaker 2: going on now, that's great. Very real.
- 59:14Speaker 15: That's another story that isn't being reported. We're in a
- 59:18Speaker 15: manufacturing boom again. Remember, all these presidents always say, we're
- 59:22Speaker 15: going to bring back the good-paying jobs in manufacturing. They're back.
- 59:26Speaker 15: In fact, there's been a big surge in employment and
- 59:28Speaker 15: a big surge in pay for construction workers and manufacturing workers.
- 59:33Speaker 2: By the way, you know one of the.
- 59:34Speaker 15: Biggest new sources of new jobs is? No. Data centers.
- 59:40Speaker 11: Oh, of course.
- 59:41Speaker 15: Data centers. They're hiring like crazy. And the idiot governor
- 59:45Speaker 15: in New York says, no, we don't want data centers.
- 59:48Speaker 15: She's saying, we don't want the jobs. We don't want
- 59:50Speaker 15: those jobs. Meanwhile, she wants to have 10,000 acres of
- 59:52Speaker 15: wind farms, but no, we can't have data centers. By
- 59:59Speaker 15: the way, there are data centers throughout New York. People
- 1:00:01Speaker 15: don't even realize they're there, but they're major sources of
- 1:00:05Speaker 15: tax payments. They're major sources of jobs, and they're major
- 1:00:08Speaker 15: sources of blue-collar workers. So I don't understand why Kathy
- 1:00:13Speaker 15: Hochul says no, no data centers.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Well, they did this with nuclear power plants.
- 1:00:19Speaker 21: Exactly.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: It's the same thing.
- 1:00:21Speaker 15: So let's hope that analogy doesn't hold true because– Do
- 1:00:25Speaker 15: you remember that movie, The China Syndrome?
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:28Speaker 15: With Jane Fonda?
- 1:00:28Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:00:29Speaker 15: Well, that movie shows how culture can change things. I mean,
- 1:00:32Speaker 15: that movie almost single-handedly destroyed the nuclear energy industry. You know,
- 1:00:36Speaker 15: for 25 years after that, we didn't build any nuclear plants.
- 1:00:40Speaker 15: And now, I think another analogy, Mark, is the fracking revolution.
- 1:00:45Speaker 15: Remember when fracking started?
- 1:00:46Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:00:47Speaker 15: Oh, we're going to have earthquakes. All the water is
- 1:00:49Speaker 15: going to be polluted. Oh, no, your water is going to–
- 1:00:52Speaker 15: they would light the Bic lighter next to the water
- 1:00:54Speaker 15: from the faucet and would light up all these bogus– well,
- 1:00:58Speaker 15: we've created a $ 5 trillion– thank God we didn't listen
- 1:01:02Speaker 15: to the fear mongers because the U.S. economy has benefited
- 1:01:04Speaker 15: by $ 5 trillion from fracking. But they tried to make
- 1:01:09Speaker 15: it a dirty word just like they're making data centers
- 1:01:11Speaker 15: a dirty word.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: So these data centers, they figure out how to recycle
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: water so they don't need too much water. They'll figure out.
- 1:01:17Speaker 15: Most of it is recycled, yes.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: They'll figure out.
- 1:01:19Speaker 15: I went to a data center, Mark. I think I've
- 1:01:21Speaker 15: told you this. You know, I was out at the
- 1:01:23Speaker 15: big one in Loudoun County, one of the biggest and
- 1:01:26Speaker 15: first big data centers in the country. And first of all,
- 1:01:28Speaker 15: I never saw so many construction workers in my life.
- 1:01:31Speaker 15: You know, they say, oh, these are just temporary jobs. No,
- 1:01:33Speaker 15: they're not because they're constantly expanding, improving the facilities and
- 1:01:35Speaker 15: so on. You know, trucks coming in and out and,
- 1:01:38Speaker 15: you know, the hard hat workers and they're making, you know,
- 1:01:40Speaker 15: $ 7, 500 an hour. And then, you know, you see how
- 1:01:45Speaker 15: much they're paying in tax. They pay property taxes. They
- 1:01:48Speaker 15: pay huge, you know, bills for the– they pay income taxes,
- 1:01:53Speaker 15: et cetera, et cetera. So they are real boons to
- 1:01:57Speaker 15: the local communities. But people don't really realize that.
- 1:02:01Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: Well, so they figured out the water problem. They'll figure
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: out how to power themselves. So that solves the electricity problem.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: The problem is the noise.
- 1:02:08Speaker 15: Remember, that's what they said about the tracking. Oh, the
- 1:02:11Speaker 15: water is all going to get polluted. Now, most of
- 1:02:13Speaker 15: what you see in the data centers is that they're
- 1:02:16Speaker 15: recycling most of the water. They are net users of water.
- 1:02:21Speaker 15: But look, we're not running out of water. We have
- 1:02:24Speaker 15: plenty of water. But most of it just is recirculated
- 1:02:28Speaker 15: through the system. And by the way, just so people understand,
- 1:02:32Speaker 15: the reason they need the water is, you know what
- 1:02:34Speaker 15: they need it for?
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: To cool things down.
- 1:02:37Speaker 15: Yeah, exactly, Mark, because those computers, I mean, you see
- 1:02:40Speaker 15: like football fields long of computers. That's what they're doing.
- 1:02:44Speaker 15: They're processing all this data, you know, billions of transactions.
- 1:02:48Speaker 15: Every time, I wouldn't be talking to you on the
- 1:02:50Speaker 15: cell phone right now if it weren't for data centers.
- 1:02:53Speaker 15: That's what's so crazy.
- 1:02:54Speaker 9: People are like, I hate data centers.
- 1:02:56Speaker 15: I don't want data centers. They're terrible. Well, do you
- 1:02:58Speaker 15: like your cell phone? Yeah. Do you like your internet?
- 1:03:01Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:03:01Speaker 15: Do you like your GPS system?
- 1:03:03Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:03:03Speaker 15: Do you like the fact that we have a system
- 1:03:06Speaker 15: of radars that we can detect missiles coming in?
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:09Speaker 15: None of that works without data centers.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: So the only problem is the noise. The big turbines
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: make this noise. But Elon Musk has announced he's going
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: to figure out how to build his own turbines. Knowing him,
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: he'll figure out how to make them quiet. And then
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: what's the objection after that?
- 1:03:25Speaker 15: Also, he wants to build them in space.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 15: So who cares how loud they are in space? It's
- 1:03:30Speaker 15: the old thing, you know, in space, nobody can hear
- 1:03:32Speaker 15: you scream.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: So, well, the Democrats always have to create a boogeyman,
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: something to be afraid of, whether it's the nuclear plant.
- 1:03:44Speaker 15: But you know what I don't understand is why they
- 1:03:46Speaker 15: would do that, because these are blue-collar jobs. I thought
- 1:03:48Speaker 15: the Democrats wanted more jobs. I thought they wanted the
- 1:03:50Speaker 15: high-paying jobs. I thought they cared about the middle class.
- 1:03:53Speaker 15: These are people making $ 75, 000, $ 80, 000, $ 100, 000, $ 125, 000 a year.
- 1:03:57Speaker 15: And they're getting overtime. Some of them are making $ 150, 000.
- 1:04:01Speaker 15: That's not bad pay.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: No, but they're Democrats like Schumer and Pelosi. They care
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: about getting reelected. Whatever they got to do to get reelected.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: There you go. The convention, you're going to be there
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: for two days? You'll be there tonight?
- 1:04:14Speaker 18: Yeah, I'll be.
- 1:04:14Speaker 15: Well, I was here last night. I may sneak out
- 1:04:17Speaker 15: a little early today. I think Trump is speaking again tonight.
- 1:04:21Speaker 15: Have you heard that?
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:23Speaker 15: But you know what the temperature is here because of
- 1:04:25Speaker 15: climate change?
- 1:04:27Speaker 9: 100?
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: 101 degrees. Okay.
- 1:04:31Speaker 15: We need more windmills to stop that warming trend.
- 1:04:34Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Hey, the whole idea here at the convention, all these
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: people in the room are delegates. You've got to fire
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: them up, make sure they get out there and work hard.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Do you feel that spirit in the room when you're there?
- 1:04:46Speaker 15: People are nervous, and they should be. You know, look,
- 1:04:50Speaker 15: the pattern is very clear. In almost every midterm election
- 1:04:53Speaker 15: for the last 40 years, the party out of power,
- 1:04:55Speaker 15: which would be the Democrats, picks up a lot of seats.
- 1:04:58Speaker 15: I mean, I was there in 94. Remember, Republicans picked
- 1:05:00Speaker 15: up like 60 seats or something like that. So, you know,
- 1:05:03Speaker 15: I think they're nervous, and they should be. because I
- 1:05:08Speaker 15: think the party is a little bit off message. You
- 1:05:10Speaker 15: know the only thing Republicans have going for themselves right now?
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: Donald Trump. Democrats. Democrats.
- 1:05:18Speaker 15: The one thing that the voters are more afraid of
- 1:05:20Speaker 15: than Republicans, and that's these crazy socialist Democrats.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: They say no matter how bad Republicans get, Democrats can
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: make themselves worse, and they've done it again. There you go. Well,
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Steve Moore, great stuff. Everybody get his book, The Trump
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Economic Miracle, and sign up for the hotline, UnleashProsperity.com. Go

- 1:06:10Speaker 2: Jimmy Fallon. At 9, actually, he'll be with us in

- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Well, yeah, hot today. Hot and humid today. It's still summer.

- 1:07:09Speaker 2: streets will be closed. A lot of people coming to this,
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: so there will be extra security beyond what we would
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: usually do on 9-11. Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush,
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Barack Obama. And Joe Biden are expected to attend. Joe Biden.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: He's been suffering a lot lately with his cancer, but
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: he's expected to be there. We'll see. Former Secretary of
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: State Hillary Clinton. Former First Lady Laura Bush expected to attend.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Michelle Obama not on the list. What else does she
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: have to do? Who knows? Probably one of those ridiculous
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: podcasts that she does. This is, believe it or not,
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: The one-year anniversary of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. That
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: terrible day, which seems like a few months ago, but
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: it's one year ago today. Just an awful day that was. Now,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: we're going to get to this 9-11 thing. That's going
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: to be a lot of traffic problems. It'll be a
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: major gridlock alert day tomorrow. And then, not next week,
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: but the week after, you're going to have a big
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: problem with that UN General Assembly. The UN General Assembly,
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: where all the world leaders come to New York, is
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: going to be an absolute mess. It's actually September 22nd
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: through the 28th. So it's six years of that, six
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: days of that stuff that you're going to have to
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: go through. Remember, it's not just around the UN. These
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: world leaders stay at hotels all over Manhattan. So it's
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: going to be all over the place. So I got
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: a really busy day today. I want to get one
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: thing after another. It's just all day long. So I'm
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: on the air now two hours. Every second I get
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: another text. Sorry, but I have to cancel today. every
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: single thing got canceled which is great they send these
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: long texts apologizing i'm so sorry please forgive me i
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: have to move reschedule great great i don't want to
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: send back a big smiley face thank god thank you
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: for canceling so um U.S. Open continues. Now, you know,
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: they have this thing there where you pay a lot
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: of money for these tickets to the U.S.
- 1:09:24Speaker 15: Open.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: You pay a fortune. And then you get in there
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: and they try to rob you every which way with
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: the concessions. You know, they have that honeydew melon, whatever
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: the hell that thing was. That's like a drink that's
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: like 80 bucks. And then there's always one new thing
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: that takes off. This year it's the $ 38 sandwich that
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: people line up for. They just can't wait to get it.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: This is the hottest thing there this year. Where is
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: it here? It's a prime rib sandwich topped with onions, aioli,
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: and provolone.
- 1:09:58Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: You can't get that anywhere except every 10 feet in
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: New York. I can think of 14 places on this
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: block where you could get that. I don't know why,
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: but the prime rib sandwich took off in the last
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: couple of years. And the French dip sandwich, every restaurant now,
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: every restaurant. French dip sandwich. It's very big. But that
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: prime rib sandwich, they got that all over the place.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: Speaking of food, Carnegie Deli reopens next week. They say Tuesday.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: I'm going to walk by there later and check and
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: see how it's going. But they're supposed to open maybe
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: on Tuesday. Now, a little local news here. Let's go
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: to Huntington, Long Island. This woman goes to a spa
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: in Huntington, Long Island. And she gets a massage. This
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: is a big thing with women, going to the spa.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: They have spa days. They go to a spa. No
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: man ever goes to a spa. Once in a while
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: you see a man there, but he's only there looking
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: for women. But she goes to the spa, hunting in
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: Long Island, getting a massage. The masseuse, a guy from Syosset.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: Now look at the picture of this guy. This guy
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: looks like one deranged maniac. He looks like Bill Murray
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: playing a... an assassin. It looks disdainful. Anyway, she's getting
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: a massage when the masseuse forcibly touches her in a
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: spot you're not supposed to touch. Well, it says the
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: name of the spa. It's on Walt Whitman Road. We
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: don't even need to mention it. He inappropriately touched the
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: woman as she lay on the massage table about noon,
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: police say. So, she went to the massage. She didn't
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: report it. She decided not to call the police. I
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: can understand. She didn't want to hold, you know, be
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: involved with the police. And so she just went home
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: later that night on Facebook, the masseuse contacts her, looked
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: up her.
- 1:11:57Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: He knew the name. He knew where she lives. He
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: found her Facebook page and send her a message. Uh,
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: in fact, apparently he was moving to a new place
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: to do massages. And, uh, Well, she got all alarmed
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: when he contacted her on Facebook. She called the police.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: That's when the police showed up. They've arrested the guy.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Desk appearance ticket. Scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: You see, you get a little pushy. It's bad enough
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: to do what he did. But then you contact her
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: on Facebook. Really bad. Hey, yesterday, the big Apple show
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: where they unveiled all their new products. The new iPhone
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: is phenomenal. The new iPhone 6. iPhone 18 Pro, the
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: most amazing phone ever. They've got a battery in there
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: that goes 39, 40 hours. The battery can last almost
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: two days. Unbelievable. The camera development, the advancement on the
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: camera is amazing. The speed, all that stuff. They've hardened
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: the case and the glass. In fact, they say with
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: this new iPhone Pro 18, don't even need to put
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: a case on it. You can drop it all you want.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Nothing will happen to it. The new Apple Watch. That
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Apple Watch is not very good at sleep tracking and
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: some other things. They're claiming they have fixed the sensor.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: The sensor on the watch that's against your wrist is
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: going to be so advanced, it'll track everything. The new
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Apple Watch looks pretty good, too. The new iPhone, $ 1, 300. Now,
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: the big thing is the Duo. This is the foldable phone,
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: where it looks like an iPhone, then you fold it open,
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: and it's as big as a tablet, a mini-tablet. it
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: seems kind of useless. In fact, most of the reviewers
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: that used it said it's great to unfold it to
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: get the big screen, but after a while, it's kind
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: of gimmicky and they didn't really use it. And if
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: you really need that, just get the mini tablet, easy
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: to carry around. It's going to be expensive, that foldable phone.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Start at $ 2, 000, go to almost $ 4, 000. So all of
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: the products, you can go online, you can buy them now,
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: but they're not going to be delivered. I think the watch...
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: will come a week from now. You can't order the
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: new phone yet. You can pre-order, but not really order,
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: because then they'll send you a note. It's complicated. On Saturday,
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: then you can start ordering. On Saturday, that's when you
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: can really order. So Mamdani and his crazy grocery store scheme.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: It's the stupidest idea ever. It sounds good. I'm going
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: to open government grocery stores where everything will be 30% cheaper.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: Sounds great. And the only problem is you're the government.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: You haven't got a clue as to how to run
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: a grocery store. And you're not just the government. You're Mamdani,
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: who's not even experienced in government. He's brand new. He's
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: a kid. He's 34, never had a job. Has no
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: clue how to run a grocery store, how to even
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: open a grocery store. He said it'll cost $ 30 million
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: for each grocery store. They're building a Wegmans over on
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: the Upper West Side. That's costing $ 2 million to build it.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: They built these groceries. They built a beautiful Uncle Giuseppe's
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: in Greenvale, Long Island. It's magnificent.
- 1:15:08Speaker 10: Huge.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: You never saw a grocery store so big. Two million.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Mamdani with his little broken down bodega. 30 million to open.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: It's ridiculous. But the idea is you could sell things 30% cheaper. Well,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: if you talk to all the big supermarkets in New York, Gristiti's, D'Agostino's,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: you talk to all the big supermarket chains, they'll tell you,
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: That they could sell everything 30% cheaper. Just like that.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: They could do it tonight. All you have to do
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: is drop the property tax. Drop the congestion pricing. Drop
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: the property tax and all that. And, you know, help
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: them with their rent. And they'll make everything 30% cheaper.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: It's easy to do. If grocery prices are high, it's
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: because they're paying massive property tax and high rent.
- 1:15:57Speaker 11: So.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: You just do that. You got the problem solved. Everything's 30%
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: cheaper right then and there. You don't have to do
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: it anywhere. Pick the neighborhoods where you think you need
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: a cheap grocery store and just do it in those neighborhoods,
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: on those stores. And you'd save, whatever he's talking about,
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: spending $ 120 million on these grocery stores. They'll never happen. Now,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: the next obstacle he's got, the National Supermarket Association is
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: now suing him. He was getting sued by the bodega owners.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: They have an association. They were suing to block him.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Now the National Supermarket Association has asked a judge to
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: delay the whole thing. There's a bidding process because it
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: turns out, as I said, Mom Donnie and the government,
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: they've got no clue how to run a grocery store.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: So they put it out to bid government contracts by
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: October 16th. But the National Supermarket Association asking the judge
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: to delay the whole bidding process. Now here's the other thing.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: If you're a grocery store operator, are you going to
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: bid to run a Mamdani grocery store? Not going to
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: be a lot of profit in it. And you got
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: to deal with the government. That's one problem. Here's the
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: other problem. In this lawsuit, National Supermarket Association lawsuit, they
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: have now warned everybody they will sue any winning bidder.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: Whoever wins the bidding, they will sue. They will sue
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: for predatory pricing.
- 1:17:25Speaker 11: Ha ha.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: So I don't know if anybody's going to be bidding
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: so fast on that. Hey, we mentioned before Billy Joel,
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: who had to stop touring. He had some kind of
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: medical problem. Well, he's explained it was brain surgery. He
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: had a problem in his brain. He had brain surgery,
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: pretty serious stuff. He's recovering now. Here he is talking
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: about it.
- 1:17:46Speaker 16: I'm doing physical therapy. I'm doing whatever it is they
- 1:17:51Speaker 16: tell me to do because I don't want to lose it.
- 1:17:55Speaker 16: So I'm always testing myself. I know people have heard
- 1:17:58Speaker 16: he's got a brain disorder. And I'm okay. I just
- 1:18:01Speaker 16: want people to know, don't worry about me. I'm not
- 1:18:04Speaker 16: going anywhere.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: I'm here. I'm still here. All right. So he got
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: through the hard part. It's physical therapy, a brain disorder. Hey,
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: Bruce Springsteen, we get that brain of yours checked. Maybe
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: have somebody take a look at it just to be sure.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Jimmy Kimmel canceled again. Gone. That's it. This is the
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: final season. We're in a new TV season. He'll wrap
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: it up in May. He was on this week. Oh,
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: is he angry? He is more angry than ever. He
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: was yelling and screaming about Trump, vicious about Trump. I
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: know it bothers you. You know what? You should enjoy it.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: I actually kind of enjoy it. It makes me feel
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: good to see him really upset, really miserable. He's supposed
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: to be a comedian. It's supposed to be a comedy show.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: It's late night TV. He does what's called a monologue.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: It's jokes. You're supposed to come out. The guy comes
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: out angry, vicious. Imagine you go to a comedy show
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: or you put on a comedy show. I'd like to
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: have some laughs. Let me put this on. The guy
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: comes out snarling, angry. You can see it in his eyes.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: He wants to kill somebody. He's so angry Hey, well,
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Jimmy Fallon will be with us later this hour. He
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: does the best late-night show on television. We'll talk to
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: him about it. You know that Amazon jet, big, whatever
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: it was, 737, crashed in Miami. It kind of missed
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: the runway. It's flying in, and you're supposed to land
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: at this part of the runway. It went too far,
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: landed like in the middle of the runway, which doesn't
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: give it enough time to stop, because you're going 180
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: miles an hour on the runway. There's no Not enough
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: runway left to stop the plane. Now, what you're supposed
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: to do if you find yourself in that kind of
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: crisis is don't land. Pull up. Even though you're going
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: down the runway, pull up and take off again. And
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: go circle around and come back. It's pretty embarrassing, but
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: it's the safest thing to do. Maybe once or twice
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: you've been on a plane where that happened. The pilot
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: was landing, all of a sudden pulled up again. Saw
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: he didn't have enough runway. So terrible, terrible pilot error.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: It ended up killing people. Now, it turns out this
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Amazon plane, it was contracted out to a company called
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: 21 Air, North Carolina-based operator. And they were operating these
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: Amazon planes. And according to this story, numerous senior staff
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: members had filed complaints against 21 Air. Numerous whistleblowers had
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: complained about their safety record, their standards. saying something like
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: this could happen. They feared a tragedy like this would happen.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: Lots of whistleblowers, lots of complaints. So this company looks
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: pretty bad, but Amazon looks pretty bad for hiring a
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: bad company. And you're going to see a lot of
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: liability here. You're going to see a lot of lawsuits
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: all over the place over this. It's not going to stop. Hey,
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Chris Rock, you remember, was it Will Smith? Who's the
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: guy who got up to punch him? Well, it says,
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: Chris Rock says he was doing another Oscar show where
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: he was really going after Jude Law, making jokes about him.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: And then later he ran into Jude Law and it
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: got pretty ugly. Pretty ugly. Law was very upset. He
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: went a little too hard on me and it got ugly.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: He said, we're fine now. But remember, he was not
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: having any of it. You know, the problem is it's
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: a different world now. Everything changed. You know, it used
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: to be you could make fun of anybody. Go watch
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: on YouTube. Go watch Don Rickles on The Tonight Show
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: or on Letterman.
- 1:21:36Speaker 18: Vicious.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: It wasn't really vicious. He was joking. It's just jokes.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: They make jokes about anything and everything and everybody. People laughed,
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: but people are just sensitive now. It got too politically correct.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: People are getting canceled. Everybody's just too sensitive about jokes.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Jimmy Fallon will be listening later. We'll ask him about this.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: We'll ask him about Jimmy Kimmel. We'll take some calls next.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number. 800-321-0710. Mark Simone. Mr.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: New York. Now three hours every weekday from 9 till
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: noon on 710WOR.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: Hey, we'll take some calls. Some new callers. We always
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: love new callers. If you haven't called before, give us
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: a call. 800-321-0710 is the number. 800- 321-0710. Let's go
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: to Richard in Bayshore. Richard, how are you doing?
- 1:22:38Speaker 22: I'm doing well, Mark. Good morning. Mark, if that $ 1. 35
- 1:22:43Speaker 22: trillion that Trump proposed spending on the $ 5, 000 per were
- 1:22:48Speaker 22: applied to Social Security, it would be secure for another
- 1:22:52Speaker 22: seven to eight years, even at an uncompounded rate.
- 1:22:56Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:22:57Speaker 22: I think giving people $ 5, 000 apiece is probably inflationary. It's counterproductive.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: Nobody's actually giving anybody $ 5, 000. You just say it in
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: a speech. It's like Biden forgiving student loans. It never
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: actually happens. You can't actually execute it.
- 1:23:12Speaker 22: Well, he actually tried. He tried awfully hard to ignore
- 1:23:15Speaker 22: the courts on that.
- 1:23:16Speaker 11: No, he didn't.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: He just pretended he was trying. He didn't try at all.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Let's go to Andrew in Newark. Andrew, how are you doing?
- 1:23:25Speaker 18: Hey, Mark.
- 1:23:25Speaker 11: How you doing, man?
- 1:23:26Speaker 9: Good.
- 1:23:26Speaker 18: I wanted to say I really strongly disagree with you.
- 1:23:29Speaker 18: You just said that Mamdani's grocery stores was the worst
- 1:23:33Speaker 18: idea in all of history.
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: I didn't say that. I never said anything like that.
- 1:23:37Speaker 18: You didn't say that it was the worst idea?
- 1:23:39Speaker 11: No.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: I said they were a terrible idea. I didn't say
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: the worst idea.
- 1:23:43Speaker 18: Yeah, I said they were. I'm just saying, I think
- 1:23:45Speaker 18: in all of history.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: Well, you've got to stop with this all of history.
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: They're a dumb idea. I said they were a scheme
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: of dumb ideas. Stop with the worst in history.
- 1:23:52Speaker 18: There's got to be at least 100 worst ideas in
- 1:23:53Speaker 18: all of mankind. But yesterday, the thing with the trial
- 1:23:58Speaker 18: with the Nancy, with the children.
- 1:24:00Speaker 14: Huh?
- 1:24:03Speaker 18: Yeah, yesterday, we're talking about the, this woman called up,
- 1:24:06Speaker 18: I couldn't believe it, the trial with the woman that
- 1:24:08Speaker 18: killed the children, Nancy Clark or whatever.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: Oh, the woman that killed the children, yeah.
- 1:24:13Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: You don't know her name? You're the only guy in
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: America that can't remember her name?
- 1:24:17Speaker 15: I don't understand.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: You forgot her name?
- 1:24:21Speaker 10: You forgot the husband.
- 1:24:22Speaker 18: You didn't know the husband's name yesterday when this lady
- 1:24:24Speaker 18: called in.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: No, I didn't know the husband's name. All right. Well,
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: thanks for mixing this up here. Let's go to Philly. Philly,
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: Mark?
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: Yeah, who's this? Is this Philly?
- 1:24:38Speaker 20: Yeah, this is Rich from Philadelphia.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: Oh, it just says Philly. Okay, sorry.
- 1:24:42Speaker 20: Yes, Rich from Philadelphia.
- 1:24:43Speaker 22: Philly.
- 1:24:44Speaker 20: The president's talking about giving $ 5, 000 for every taxpayer. I'm
- 1:24:49Speaker 20: still waiting for my $ 2, 000 that he promised a year
- 1:24:52Speaker 20: ago or two years ago.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: Well, we all got it. You didn't get it.
- 1:24:55Speaker 20: No, I still didn't get it in the mail.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: I think it's something personal with you and him, because
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: we all got a nice big check for $ 2, 000. We
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: got a note from him. You didn't get it.
- 1:25:05Speaker 20: Okay, I'll quote Fetterman. senator called fennerman to tell him
- 1:25:10Speaker 20: i want my two thousand dollar check you have a
- 1:25:12Speaker 20: great day.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: Mark all right thanks for calling this listen it's a
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: gimmick five thousand dollars to everybody yet couldn't actually pull
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: it off now what he was saying was it would
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: come from a massive increase in the economy which could
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: happen you got a manufacturing boom going on right now
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: uh if you Things get settled in Iran. Oil comes
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: crashing in. You could have a massive boom in the economy.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: And what he was saying was, like most companies when
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: they have an incredible year, they give dividends out to
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: the shareholders. That's what he was talking about. You can't
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: actually do it, though. Let's go to Mike in St.
- 1:25:50Speaker 21: James.
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: Mike, how are you doing?
- 1:25:53Speaker 13: Good morning, Mark.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: Yes, Mark.
- 1:25:54Speaker 10: Hey, Mark.
- 1:25:56Speaker 15: Donald wants to bring factories back to America.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Well, he's already done it.
- 1:26:01Speaker 15: Well, isn't it a problem that the workers here want
- 1:26:04Speaker 15: $ 40 or $ 50 an hour compared to China?
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Well, I hate to break it to you. He's already
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: brought a lot of factories back. A ton of manufacturing
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: has opened up in the last couple of years here.
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: A ton of manufacturing. Huge manufacturing. He already did it.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: It's actually happened. So you can't argue. It's working. You
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: can't argue against it. That would have been a good
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: call two years ago before he brought it all here.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Let's go to Joel in Connecticut. Joel, how are you doing? Joel? Joel?
- 1:26:37Speaker 21: Yes, sir.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: I don't mind you having the radio on, but it
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: seems to be on a different station. That's the problem.
- 1:26:41Speaker 17: No, no.
- 1:26:42Speaker 21: Mark, I'm only calling to tell you, Lindsay Clancy.
- 1:26:46Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:26:47Speaker 21: Whenever they got her Irish up, Clancy lowered the boom.
- 1:26:50Speaker 20: Boom, boom, boom.
- 1:26:52Speaker 21: That's what I was listening to, Mark. That old Bing
- 1:26:56Speaker 21: Crosby and Dennis Day song. Clancy lowered the boom.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, it's a little early for happy hour, but
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: where are you in Connecticut?
- 1:27:05Speaker 21: I'm not happy hour. I'm a coffee bagel young man
- 1:27:08Speaker 21: of 83 years old.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: Where are you? What part of Connecticut?
- 1:27:12Speaker 21: I'm finishing my retirement in Connecticut.
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: Where in Connecticut?
- 1:27:16Speaker 11: Where?
- 1:27:17Speaker 21: Westport land.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: Westport.
- 1:27:19Speaker 9: Oh.
- 1:27:20Speaker 21: Magical, wonderful Westport.
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: You're that guy we see on Campo Beach running around
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: bothering everybody, right?
- 1:27:26Speaker 21: This is true. I'm running around trying to lick their
- 1:27:28Speaker 21: ice cream cones.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: My God, I'm sorry.
- 1:27:30Speaker 21: My God, I'm telling you, when they have an ice cream,
- 1:27:33Speaker 21: I've got to be there. But that Lindsay Clancy woman.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: You sound like you're in a 1940s gangster movie with
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: James Cagney. Now, look here, you mug.
- 1:27:41Speaker 18: See here?
- 1:27:43Speaker 21: I tell you, I grew up in a neighborhood in Brooklyn.
- 1:27:47Speaker 21: There were a lot of gangsters when I was a kid. Oh,
- 1:27:50Speaker 21: all right. So they imprinted me in some.
- 1:27:52Speaker 20: Way, I guess.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: All right, Joel, thanks for calling. Let's go to Mary
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: in New Jersey. Mary, how are you doing?
- 1:27:59Speaker 14: I'm well, thank you. My question is, it's not likely
- 1:28:03Speaker 14: that Trump will give the $ 5, 000 to everybody in the country. However,
- 1:28:07Speaker 14: I'm curious as to know, are Democrats aware of why
- 1:28:11Speaker 14: Biden allowed millions of illegals into this country?
- 1:28:14Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:28:14Speaker 15: Wasn't it for the votes?
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: It was for the votes. It was for cheap labor.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: It was to get the millions of them on the
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: voter rolls, which they did do. Borders wide open. Hey,
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: it's actually a movement. I don't know if it's Donald
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: Trump or the Republicans. They want to actually pass some
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: sort of legislation, actual law, that it's illegal to leave
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: the border open, that a future president, future leader could
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: actually be arrested. if he didn't secure the border. They're
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: trying to actually codify that somehow. Hey, when we come back,
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: the best late night show host in television, Jimmy Fallon,
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: he's on here on WOR every weeknight, nine to midnight.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: He's on Fox News Channel Saturday nights. We've got a
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: lot to talk to him about. The very funny Jimmy
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: Fela is next on 710WOR.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: Well, Jimmy Fela, he's on WOR every night, 9 to midnight.
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: You'll get addicted real fast if you listen. It's the
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: funniest show on the radio. Jimmy Fela, 9 to midnight,
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: every weeknight, WOR. Then on Saturday nights, does the best
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: late-night show on television. with the single finest monologue anywhere
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: in television, Saturday nights at 10 on the Fox News Channel.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: Jimmy Fallon, how you doing?
- 1:29:33Speaker 11: You know what?
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: I'm in good spirits.
- 1:29:35Speaker 17: Thanks for that.
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: Fine intro about my TV show this weekend. We have
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: a girl on. That was in the movie Black Panther.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: But I'm pretty sure Trump renamed it Orange Panther. He's
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: on a binge this week. Right after Lake America or
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: New America, whatever the heck's happening down in Mexico.
- 1:29:52Speaker 17: Everything's got a new title, Simone.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: I love it. He is getting a little silly lately,
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: isn't he? What's getting into him?
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:30:00Speaker 22: Something's going on.
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: Well, I will say this, because they had this whole
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: crazy convention down there last night.
- 1:30:07Speaker 9: And he, I believe he's still speaking.
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: He might still be on stage. It was like, he
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: did an hour and 50 minutes and everybody was like, well,
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: you know, Trump's crazy because he's going to book this
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: thing and there's going to be football on and people
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: are going to be watching football. But little did they
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: know he'd still be speaking when the football game was.
- 1:30:26Speaker 22: Over.
- 1:30:26Speaker 17: I was like, he had to have a plan.
- 1:30:28Speaker 11: Sure enough, he did.
- 1:30:29Speaker 15: That was like a New Year's Eve.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: That was like a ball drop.
- 1:30:31Speaker 19: And it went all night.
- 1:30:32Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: But normally he's pretty good on stage. I mean, he's
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: not a stand-up comic, but he's pretty good at coming close.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: But what was he thinking not tightening that up, not
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: focusing that speech?
- 1:30:44Speaker 5: You know, man, this is the thing. There's definitely nobody
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: in his orbit that's saying the word no to him.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: Nobody.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: You know what I mean? And he likes the live
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: element so much more. than all the buttoned-up stuff he
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: does with the press. Because you understand, like, even when
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: he talks to the press, he talks for two hours.
- 1:31:02Speaker 9: But it's hostile.
- 1:31:04Speaker 11: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: It's hostile. So it's very rare that he actually gets, like,
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: a home game. That's why he likes rallies, you know,
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: because it's a totally different approach. You think of, like,
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: every press conference he does in the White House, they
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: don't actually ask questions. They just accuse him of things.
- 1:31:18Speaker 17: They're like, you know, Mr.
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: President, you're committing transgenocide.
- 1:31:21Speaker 13: What do you think of this WNBA thing?
- 1:31:22Speaker 19: He's like, whoa, what just happened?
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: Oh, you got to follow Jimmy Fallon on Instagram. He
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: does these great videos on Instagram. The one about Jimmy Kimmel.
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: The show is on its deathbed. I mean, it's over,
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: but you've been watching this week. He's vicious, angry. Who
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: wants to watch such an angry guy on television?
- 1:31:46Speaker 5: And the whole show, okay? Because his wife is his
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: head writer.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: And his wife, yes.
- 1:31:52Speaker 17: His wife writes a show. She's the head writer for
- 1:31:54Speaker 17: his show.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: And that's why.
- 1:31:56Speaker 17: But that tells you everything.
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: You see, he was obviously the guy on the man
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: show who was doing a lot of crass, misogynistic stuff,
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: also wearing blackface quite a bit, I might add. For
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: a guy who likes to call Trump a racist, I've
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: got to be honest, blackface, a little aggressive. I've gotten
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: some odd makeup.
- 1:32:14Speaker 17: Jobs before my show over the years, but.
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: Nobody ever confused me with Karl Malone on set.
- 1:32:19Speaker 17: But that's another story.
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: But the point is, his wife kind of... hijacked his
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: sensibilities in a lot of ways and turned him into
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: like another late night woke activist, like a Colbert. And the,
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: one of the reasons he goes along with that is
- 1:32:34Speaker 5: he is paying like a protection racket to the outrage mob.
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: I mean, you think about this, if Jimmy Kimmel is
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: a Republican and he had a 10 year history of
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: wearing blackface on TV, his show would have been canceled
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: 10 years ago.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: So, So that's why he's always opens every show with
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: a tribute to whatever the Democrat cause of the day
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: happens to be.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: It is straight up good fellas.
- 1:32:55Speaker 17: You know, he went into business with the mob.
- 1:32:58Speaker 15: And now what? You got slow business?
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: F you, pay me.
- 1:33:01Speaker 11: Come on, Kimmel.
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: That's why even when Kimmel was off for summer break,
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: all of his guest hosts came on and trashed Trump, too.
- 1:33:07Speaker 9: Did you see.
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: Jelly Roll was on. And then poor Rosie O'Donnell showed up.
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: She didn't realize Jelly Roll was a person, so she
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: was crushed.
- 1:33:16Speaker 17: It was going to be craft services.
- 1:33:19Speaker 11: It was a mess.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: Hey, so Comics Unleashed, this is Byron Allen. It's kind
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: of a low-budget show, and it's not big names, but
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: it's pure comedy. You know, it's now crushing Fallon and
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: Kimmel in 18 to 49-year-olds. The key demo.
- 1:33:33Speaker 17: Yeah, I'm not surprised by that.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: You're going to laugh.
- 1:33:34Speaker 5: I almost texted you yesterday. I was driving into Fox
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: and I was listening to you talk about this. Byron Allen,
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: you were saying Byron Allen, he's a genius. He's a
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: smart guy. And he realized the thing about people who
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: tune into a comedy show is they want to laugh.
- 1:33:50Speaker 15: It's like it's a weird thing. It's a weird thing.
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: But all these other late night shows, like imagine if
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: you ran a pizza place. If someone called up and
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: ordered a pizza, you'd.
- 1:33:58Speaker 15: Send them a pizza.
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: These late-night shows have not been sending the pizza.
- 1:34:02Speaker 11: They're like, sorry.
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: The best I can do is this cauliflower crust.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: It's not good. The guy that created late-night television, his
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: name was Pat Weaver. He worked at NBC. He said,
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: let's have a late-night show that's entertaining. People will have
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: a few laughs before they go to sleep. And then
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: he got Steve Allen to do it. He never would
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: have thought to himself, Let's get people really angry, mad
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: before they go to sleep. Let's rile them up right
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: before bedtime.
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: And the thing about it is also like comics kind
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: of like they knew better than to take themselves seriously.
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: You know, we're supposed to be like your misfit buddies
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: and you can let your guard down because we're just
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: here to goof off.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: None of this is real.
- 1:34:45Speaker 17: And it's crazy to watch because these are like a.
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: Lot of these guys are a little younger than what
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: we were watching on The Tonight Show. Like if you
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: turn on a rerun of The Tonight Show, you see
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: Johnny Ed sitting next to a drunk Dean Martin or
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: a Rickles. Everybody there is in their 60s, and they're
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: still sophomorically ridiculous like a bunch of 10-year-old boys. And
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: that was always the charm of comedy. is you saw
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: what looked like serious adults behaving like five-year-olds. And now
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: we have five-year-olds trying to act like serious adults.
- 1:35:15Speaker 13: And that's so dumb.
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: That's the best explanation I've ever heard of this. Jimmy Fallon,
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: where did you go on vacation? I see the Yellowstone.
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: This doesn't seem like your kind of vacation. That's funny.
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: I do not listen, man. I took Jenny out to
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: Jackson Hole. which was definitely way too fancy and classy
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: for me.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: Really? It was really nice.
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: We went and saw the animals in Yellowstone and the
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: Grand Tetons. The whole problem out there, man, for real,
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: is it's beautiful, but if you show up with my accent,
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: everyone thinks.
- 1:35:50Speaker 17: You're in the witness protection program.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: Literally.
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: Every single person in the state of Wyoming assumed that
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: I was about to testify or I already had. It
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: made for some good conversations. They were trying to, like,
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: get my rate on whacking their aunt or something.
- 1:36:06Speaker 13: I'm like, no, I'm a TV guy.
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: And it was a real friendly crowd. It was actually
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: very pro-Fox out there. I was thrilled with that. Jackson Hole,
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: which is, you know, a big Western vibe. It was,
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: I would say, you know, in terms of the people
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: I was running into on the street, I would say
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: it was like 90% Republican. It was actually pretty surprising.
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: So since when are you a Mr. Outdoorsman out there
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: in Jackson Hole? No, I'm not.
- 1:36:27Speaker 17: This is the thing.
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: You asked a fair question. I'm clearly not. I like
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: to drive.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: Because I was spending 12 hours, 15 hours a day
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: driving my yellow cab here in the city. When I
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: go on vacation, all we do is just rent a
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: convertible and we drive till the wheels fall off. That's
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: every year. My poor family, but they've learned to like it.
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: We crank the music and just drive around and see stuff.
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: So to give you an example, I'm not even kidding.
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: When I was in LA for standup this summer, Um,
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: I had, I had a gig at the Grove in
- 1:36:56Speaker 5: Anaheim on a Saturday, but that morning me and Lincoln
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: got in the car, drove 300 miles to Michael Jackson's
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: Neverland Ranch.
- 1:37:02Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: How about that?
- 1:37:03Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: 300 one way turned around, came back and, uh, you know,
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: we couldn't get in. Lincoln wasn't cute enough, but, uh,
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:37:11Speaker 9: There was a, there was a time.
- 1:37:14Speaker 15: Michael was around.
- 1:37:14Speaker 17: He got right in back in the day, but, uh,
- 1:37:17Speaker 17: you know, there's a different time.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: Hey, well, Jimmy Fallon's on every night here at WOR.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: It's a very funny show, 9 to midnight. People get
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: addicted to it, 9 to midnight. What are you doing
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: on tonight's show?
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: Oh, you know, our buddy Mark Malkoff is coming on.
- 1:37:30Speaker 13: Oh, great.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: I'm going to make.
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: Him talk Kimmel.

- 1:37:35Speaker 5: Obviously, Frank Stiller's on. We got the big Tunnel to
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: Towers events going on tomorrow, 9-11. And it's going to,
- 1:37:41Speaker 5: I'm just warning you now.
- 1:37:43Speaker 11: Okay.
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: Obviously we have mom Donnie going to ground zero tomorrow.
- 1:37:45Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: He's never been to one of these. He's going to
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: be really bummed out when he learns there's no moment
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: of silence for the hijackers. I mean, I hope somebody,
- 1:37:53Speaker 5: I hope somebody can console this dirt.
- 1:37:55Speaker 17: Bag when he gets down there.
- 1:37:57Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: Hey, also make sure you watch his Saturday night TV show.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: It's the best late night show on TV. Saturday night's
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: 10 o'clock and people can come be in the audience, right?
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: You're going to be taking this.

- 1:38:19Speaker 5: And you guys come be in the audience.
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: It's a lot of fun. Yeah. So if you want

- 1:38:27Speaker 2: the free tickets there and listen to Jimmy Fallon tonight
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: on the radio right here, nine to midnight. Great stuff.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: Jimmy Fallon, thanks for being with us. You're the best, Mark.
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: See you soon, buddy. All right. Take care. Hey, don't
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: forget coming up noon today, Buck and Clay. That's a
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: Big show now. It's like 10 million listeners. It became huge,
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: this show. Then at 3 o'clock, you got the single
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: most listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity at 3.
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: I think he's live from the convention today in Dallas.
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: Then you got Jesse Kelly at 6. And as I
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: just said, Jimmy Fallon, 9 to midnight. Now, I'm on
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: every day, 9 to noon. And right before me, the
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: big morning show, it's Curtis Lewa, Larry Menti, 6 to
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: 9 p.m. Every morning here on 710WOR. More Mark. Mark Simone. Mr.
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: New York.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: Well, hey, tomorrow, 9-11, the 25th anniversary. It's just a
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: very sad day, but we'll be covering it for you.
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: Don't forget, below Canal Street, everything's going to be closed
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: in lower Manhattan, so you Don't try to drive anywhere
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: near there. There's always a lot of security for this event,
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: but it'll be extra security this year because attending the
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: event tomorrow, expected to attend are Barack Obama, Bill Clinton,
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: George W. Bush, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush. There'll
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: be a lot of VIPs there. Crazy Mom Donnie will
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: be there. It'd be interesting to see these Democrats, Obama, Biden, Clinton,
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: if they want to get anywhere near Mamdani or be
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: seen shaking hands or talking to him, it'll be interesting
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: to see. Well, that's probably one reason Mamdani's there, to
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: just try to steal the spotlight from these guys. Expect
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: the family, the families of the victims, to at some
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: point turn their backs on Mamdani. It'll be quite a
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: picture when that happens. Anyway, we'll be here tomorrow to
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: talk about it and lots of other things. Don't forget,
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: I'm here three hours every day. It's now three hours.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: It's nine to noon every day here three hours a day,
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: Monday through Friday. So I'll see you tomorrow at 9
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: right here on 710WOR.
