If your teen just got their GCSE results, act fast—HMRC says you could be losing over £117 a month in Child Benefit if you don’t update your claim by August 31. Missing the deadline means losing around £1,400 for the year. If your child is staying in education or training, you must notify HMRC via app or online. This applies to GCSEs, A-Levels, and Scottish Highers. Child Benefit pays £27 weekly for the first child and £18 for others—so don’t let that cash vanish.
