- 2:15Speaker 5: World Series, and the enemy was themselves. A pair of
- 2:20Speaker 5: seventh inning airs coupled with the failure to capitalize on
- 2:23Speaker 5: some pretty sweet opportunities, led the Mountaineers to a loss
- 2:26Speaker 5: in the College World Series against North Carolina last night,
- 2:30Speaker 5: five to two. Next up, WV will take on Troy
- 2:33Speaker 5: and the losers bracket tomorrow afternoon at two our time,
- 2:35Speaker 5: and if they win that then they'll have to beat
- 2:38Speaker 5: North Carolina twice to make it to championship weekend. Greg
- 2:41Speaker 5: Carey has a full story posted about a WV Metronews
- 2:43Speaker 5: dot com, and of course we'll talk about it later
- 2:45Speaker 5: today on Midday and the Talk Line Boys and Hotline
- 2:48Speaker 5: we'll get into it as well. Four state champions and
- 2:51Speaker 5: baseball crowd over the weekend and hunting to the state tournament,
- 2:54Speaker 5: two of them with local ties Saint Albans and GW
- 2:57Speaker 5: both winning state Championships. TJ Meta Sherman Tide won the
- 3:01Speaker 5: single eight title Saturday morning. Not so much from my
- 3:04Speaker 5: logan Wildcats as they lost to Frankfurt. Lost to talk
- 3:07Speaker 5: about this week, including the USA Pro Road National Championship. So,
- 3:11Speaker 5: folks are already in town and have been for some time,
- 3:15Speaker 5: and you're going to start to see some road closures
- 3:17Speaker 5: today and through the week. And there's more information about
- 3:21Speaker 5: what is going to be closed on the various social
- 3:23Speaker 5: media sites Charleston, Charleston Convention, Visit Bureau, so on and
- 3:27Speaker 5: so forth. Time trials will start at eight tomorrow morning.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Coming up on the show, Danny Jones will join us,
- 3:33Speaker 5: But I want to talk about another big event happening
- 3:35Speaker 5: in the area this week, and it's Yakfest and Tour
- 3:37Speaker 5: Deicle in sant Albans. Dave Rucker joins us along with
- 3:41Speaker 5: Christy Jenkins from Canon Valley Tourism. Dave, good morning, and
- 3:44Speaker 5: welcome to the show.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Good morning, Thank you for having us, sir.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Christy, thank you for being here as well.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Now you were telling me you're in the break that
- 3:50Speaker 5: you're also a Sherman Tide Alum, Is that right?
- 3:52Speaker 7: I am Roll Tide.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Roll Tide with congratulations to the Tide. It's you and TJ.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Meadows both pretty happy this morning, absolutely, and mister Rucker,
- 4:02Speaker 5: I guess you are.
- 4:03Speaker 8: And a red dragon here. I'm pretty happy about our
- 4:06Speaker 8: state champion baseball team.
- 4:07Speaker 5: Well and Logan Wan Logan made it there, that's right.
- 4:10Speaker 5: So that's what we got. Logan made it there, that's
- 4:12Speaker 5: all right. I said this on the show the other day.
- 4:13Speaker 5: You know, everybody thinks about Logan as being a basketball school,
- 4:18Speaker 5: and but we've won state championships in girls basketball. We've
- 4:20Speaker 5: won eight state championships in baseball. The only thing we're
- 4:25Speaker 5: really not good at is football. That's about it.
- 4:28Speaker 8: You know, it happened that Saint Albans is rebuilding our program,
- 4:32Speaker 8: new coach, hopefully to get that going here in the
- 4:34Speaker 8: coming years.
- 4:35Speaker 5: All right, So we got the tour to Cole and
- 4:37Speaker 5: Yakfest going on, and David and Christik here, what's this
- 4:41Speaker 5: talk about that? Talk about Yakfest and in a broad sense,
- 4:44Speaker 5: and we'll break it down from that.
- 4:45Speaker 8: Yakfest is is the pre game, the post game, the
- 4:49Speaker 8: everything around the tour to Cole. You know, tourd Cole
- 4:52Speaker 8: had all these folks floating through town, and we did
- 4:54Speaker 8: not really capture much with Yakfest. We we brought this
- 4:58Speaker 8: on coming up. We were just talking. I think next
- 5:00Speaker 8: year will be our tenth year if I'm doing my
- 5:02Speaker 8: math right there. But we come in and give everybody
- 5:06Speaker 8: something to do on Friday night leading up to the
- 5:08Speaker 8: Tour Deicole. We'll start at four o'clock with local musicians playing,
- 5:13Speaker 8: and then we'll end at ten o'clock with the Davidson Brothers.
- 5:16Speaker 8: Before the Davison Brothers going off will be Braden Williamson
- 5:19Speaker 8: band out of Logan.
- 5:21Speaker 5: So actually graduated high school with Braden's mom. Okay, okay,
- 5:25Speaker 5: I'll tell you something awesome people tales here. Well, you know,
- 5:28Speaker 5: we like all ages.
- 5:29Speaker 8: We're trying to hit all ages to come out on
- 5:31Speaker 8: Main Street on Friday and Saturday, and then all of
- 5:34Speaker 8: our bands this year hitting in West Virginia Day on
- 5:36Speaker 8: the twentieth. Everybody is a West Virginia born and bred
- 5:40Speaker 8: or West Virginia resident one of the others.
- 5:42Speaker 5: And the Davison Brothers are fantastic. Oh yeah, and I
- 5:45Speaker 5: have actually done a show I Am Seed, an event
- 5:47Speaker 5: with the Soda Pop Gypsys one time. They're they're really
- 5:49Speaker 5: good as.
- 5:50Speaker 8: Well, they are Soda Pop, Gypsy's on Saturday and Aristotle.
- 5:53Speaker 8: Jones is that these these bands are really going to
- 5:56Speaker 8: bring a lot of fun. When we were trying to
- 5:58Speaker 8: aim at them, it was a lively environment. What'll really
- 6:00Speaker 8: get the street going with the street vendors, the raffles
- 6:03Speaker 8: that we have gone huge prizes to win out there
- 6:06Speaker 8: thanks to partly in Canaal Valley Tourism has given some
- 6:09Speaker 8: prizes for Regatta Knights to give away. We have giveaways
- 6:12Speaker 8: for Marty Grawl, Casino, Devil's Backbone Venture Resort and hat
- 6:16Speaker 8: Film McCoy Trail, Saint Albans gift basket over worth over
- 6:20Speaker 8: five hundred dollars in a kayak that you can float
- 6:22Speaker 8: down next year on the tour to cole with if
- 6:24Speaker 8: you'd like.
- 6:24Speaker 5: And Christy's with us in your the destination marketing and
- 6:29Speaker 5: content manager for Kanal Valley Tours, I'm talking about your
- 6:32Speaker 5: group's rolling all this.
- 6:34Speaker 7: So basically we're a small but mighty CVB over here
- 6:37Speaker 7: at Kanaal Valley Tourism and we just partner with small
- 6:41Speaker 7: businesses and fairs and festivals and events and make sure
- 6:44Speaker 7: that they get highlighted, especially these smaller towns. We just
- 6:49Speaker 7: want to make sure that not just the people in
- 6:52Speaker 7: kanawh County know about this, but people outside of Kanaw County.
- 6:55Speaker 7: So we really want to bring in everybody from California
- 6:59Speaker 7: to Maine.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Want you here and talk about how big the Tour
- 7:02Speaker 5: to Coal is because people literally do come in for
- 7:05Speaker 5: this thing from all over the country.
- 7:07Speaker 8: So I'll say we had two years ago, we had
- 7:11Speaker 8: some some placer AI data, some cell phone pinging data,
- 7:15Speaker 8: and it hit to twenty seven different states.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Twenty seven different states came to Saint Albans.
- 7:20Speaker 8: Yes, floated through our town and at that time it
- 7:23Speaker 8: was thirty five hundred people on that day thirty five
- 7:27Speaker 8: just over thirty five hundred and again twenty seven states.
- 7:30Speaker 8: So we're bringing people in from all over the country.
- 7:33Speaker 8: This is one of the largest flat water floats on
- 7:36Speaker 8: this side in the country, especially on this side of
- 7:38Speaker 8: the Missipiary.
- 7:39Speaker 5: I mean it is like it's the flatwater capital of
- 7:41Speaker 5: the world. Yes, but you all call yourself right, yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 5: and I will float And I do think it's great
- 7:46Speaker 5: because Tour to Coal has been going on for some time.
- 7:49Speaker 5: But as you said, what happens a lot of times
- 7:51Speaker 5: with these events like this and they're great, they're fantastic.
- 7:54Speaker 5: But people come in and they do the floating thing,
- 7:57Speaker 5: which is good, but a lot of times the town
- 8:00Speaker 5: they don't really get to see a lot of the town.
- 8:02Speaker 5: They don't get to spend a lot of you know,
- 8:04Speaker 5: time or money exact the town. And this is where
- 8:07Speaker 5: you guys come in because you pretty much turn in
- 8:09Speaker 5: turn Old Maine and Saint Albans into one big giant
- 8:11Speaker 5: party for this thing all weekend.
- 8:13Speaker 8: And like I said, we kick off on four o'clock
- 8:15Speaker 8: on Friday, we go to ten o'clock. We open up
- 8:18Speaker 8: again on two o'clock on Saturday, go to ten o'clock. Oh,
- 8:21Speaker 8: I forgot to say all day long. We have a
- 8:23Speaker 8: giant water slide for the kids to come float down
- 8:25Speaker 8: on or play on. That'll be off the side a
- 8:28Speaker 8: little bit, but there to enjoy as well. So really
- 8:30Speaker 8: something for all to do. And then we really look
- 8:33Speaker 8: forward to the future of it as well as we grow.
- 8:36Speaker 8: You know, hat Phil McCoy, we're glad to have that
- 8:38Speaker 8: cabin giveaway. Now that's on the other end of the trail.
- 8:42Speaker 8: But you know, you got Tornado where they go in
- 8:44Speaker 8: with the with the tor to coal that area is
- 8:46Speaker 8: growing with hat Pill McCoy trails as well. So maybe
- 8:49Speaker 8: that's the next leg that we see grow. Like you're saying,
- 8:52Speaker 8: from what went from just Tor to Cole to Tor
- 8:55Speaker 8: to Coal and yatfest. Maybe next week, next year or
- 8:58Speaker 8: in the future they spend there were five days here, yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 8: and on on multi different you know, the street, the river,
- 9:05Speaker 8: the trails hit all of them.
- 9:06Speaker 5: At the restaurants too. Yeah. You know pat our goal,
- 9:08Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, but Dave Allen showing five dye line is
- 9:11Speaker 5: brought to you, apar bye. The Charleston Dirty Birds Birds
- 9:13Speaker 5: are on the road starting tomorrow at Hagerstown. They're back
- 9:15Speaker 5: at go mart Ballpark next Tuesday night to begin to
- 9:17Speaker 5: see heares against York. Check out dirty Birds Baseball dot
- 9:20Speaker 5: com for more information. And you know, guys, I've said
- 9:22Speaker 5: this so often about West Virginia. Sometimes we have a
- 9:25Speaker 5: tendency to take things for granted, you mentioned the hat
- 9:27Speaker 5: film mcoy trail. I mean, I'm a southern West Virginia guy,
- 9:31Speaker 5: and for years those mountains have been there, people have
- 9:32Speaker 5: been riding those trails, and nobody ever thought a thing
- 9:35Speaker 5: in the world about it. And then somewhere in the
- 9:37Speaker 5: nineteen nineties, somebody said we ought to try to do
- 9:40Speaker 5: something with this, and now it's a major, major industry,
- 9:44Speaker 5: and the same with this. I mean, the tour to
- 9:46Speaker 5: coal was was great. I mean it has been great
- 9:49Speaker 5: and continues to be. But I think sometimes we take
- 9:53Speaker 5: it for granted because it's it's always been there, and
- 9:55Speaker 5: we forget that there are people in other areas that
- 10:00Speaker 5: love this sort of stuff and want to come and
- 10:02Speaker 5: spend money here. And Christy, that's that makes you happy.
- 10:05Speaker 7: It does make me happy. It really makes me happy
- 10:07Speaker 7: just to tell the story of all these events like
- 10:10Speaker 7: they're why. That's that's what's really important here is the
- 10:14Speaker 7: why do we do this? Why? Why why do we
- 10:17Speaker 7: float down the river? But it's really more than just
- 10:21Speaker 7: floating down the river, and it's more about, you know,
- 10:25Speaker 7: the community and things that we have to offer outside.
- 10:28Speaker 8: Of just that, and to grow all the way across.
- 10:33Speaker 8: Like you were saying, you know that that the trails,
- 10:35Speaker 8: the growth that I mentioned Devil's Backbone Adventurers or they're
- 10:38Speaker 8: they're going to open up a second one. So growth
- 10:40Speaker 8: is happening on the trail to where more and more
- 10:43Speaker 8: is coming and and what you might call that redneck rich.
- 10:46Speaker 8: You know, they show up in these in these trucks
- 10:49Speaker 8: and these trailers and it's like they jump out and
- 10:51Speaker 8: you might not look at them as the rich guys,
- 10:53Speaker 8: but man, they're they're pulling up a million dollar rigs there.
- 10:56Speaker 8: So it's there's there's an opportunity. You're right that there's
- 10:58Speaker 8: there's a big opportunity to explain.
- 11:00Speaker 5: It and the cleanliness of the whole thing, because there
- 11:03Speaker 5: were there was a time years ago that you I'm
- 11:05Speaker 5: not getting in that river, but but now it's.
- 11:10Speaker 8: What I'll give a shout out to the tord to
- 11:12Speaker 8: Coal and the Coal River Group folks. You know, that's
- 11:14Speaker 8: that's their mission. That we have a mission to build
- 11:17Speaker 8: Saint Albans, to build the community, to build uh the safety,
- 11:20Speaker 8: youth and education programs.
- 11:22Speaker 5: That's our goal.
- 11:23Speaker 8: We really focus in that two five one seven seven
- 11:26Speaker 8: zip code and and the city limits itself tour to
- 11:29Speaker 8: Coal and Coal River Group. Their mission was to make
- 11:32Speaker 8: that river clean, and they have done a phenomenal job.
- 11:34Speaker 8: They do river clean ups. They really have done awesome
- 11:37Speaker 8: jobs and in making sure that you know, when we
- 11:40Speaker 8: invite these people in from New York and all over
- 11:42Speaker 8: the country, they're coming to see a community and an
- 11:45Speaker 8: environment that is set up for enjoyment, pleasure and cleanliness.
- 11:50Speaker 5: One of the great things I think about about Saint
- 11:52Speaker 5: Albans uh is sometimes when these big events happen and
- 11:55Speaker 5: you can go one of two ways. The businesses can
- 11:57Speaker 5: either fully embrace it or And it's how in some
- 12:00Speaker 5: areas where businesses will just say, well, we're not going
- 12:03Speaker 5: to make any money this week, and we don't that
- 12:04Speaker 5: you're taking away from our clientele. And maybe there's something
- 12:07Speaker 5: to be said for that, I don't know, But the
- 12:08Speaker 5: businesses in Saint Albans when you have these events. I've
- 12:11Speaker 5: been a part of several events there, Jackfest, the fall
- 12:14Speaker 5: Y'all Chili cook off and so on and so forth.
- 12:16Speaker 5: These businesses in Saint Albans really support this.
- 12:20Speaker 8: They do and and you know that that evolved over time.
- 12:24Speaker 2: At the beginning there was.
- 12:27Speaker 8: Right understood and there were things that me as a
- 12:30Speaker 8: as a community volunteers, us as as the committee, we
- 12:34Speaker 8: didn't think about the issues that might arise, and they
- 12:37Speaker 8: brought them to our attention. We've worked well with community
- 12:39Speaker 8: and they've worked well with us, and now I mean
- 12:41Speaker 8: we have community support all the way across. Again, I
- 12:45Speaker 8: mentioned that raffle. It's a five hundred dollars over five
- 12:47Speaker 8: hundred dollars value, and every single piece of that is
- 12:51Speaker 8: within the city of Saint Albans. It's gift cards, it's
- 12:54Speaker 8: all be in theater, it's it's just different attractions of
- 12:57Speaker 8: things that are all in Saint Albans. We're going at
- 12:59Speaker 8: the best of Saint.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Basket and and I think that's great because again, you're
- 13:02Speaker 5: bringing these people in, some of whom have never been
- 13:05Speaker 5: to Saint alban before. And you've got people in the
- 13:07Speaker 5: area that may come down for things that and they
- 13:10Speaker 5: may come back, and they'll come back, especially if you
- 13:12Speaker 5: give them something to come back for it and give
- 13:13Speaker 5: them gift cards and so on. And you're all celebrated.
- 13:15Speaker 5: This isn't like major box stores or whatever.
- 13:18Speaker 1: This is.
- 13:18Speaker 5: You are celebrating the businesses in Saint Albans. And there
- 13:21Speaker 5: are plenty of them, plenty.
- 13:22Speaker 8: Oh yeah, but we've got the bakeries, the restaurants, the
- 13:25Speaker 8: attractions all the way across.
- 13:26Speaker 5: And uh and I mean the restaurants are great. I
- 13:29Speaker 5: mean people, I think sometimes and I was talking to
- 13:31Speaker 5: somebody about this yet I was actually talking to Dino
- 13:33Speaker 5: Stanley on the Midday Show on Friday from Ladelphia about
- 13:36Speaker 5: the restaurant scene in West Virginia and how it's really
- 13:39Speaker 5: really taken off here in the Canal Valley. I mean,
- 13:42Speaker 5: you got James Beard Award winners nominees and so on
- 13:46Speaker 5: and so forth, and you guys in Saint all Buts
- 13:47Speaker 5: have got some fantastic restaurants. Well, thank you.
- 13:50Speaker 8: We really have tried to open that up and and
- 13:53Speaker 8: really build that market and then entertainment aspect of it too.
- 13:57Speaker 8: That's one thing I love about our restaurants in town,
- 14:00Speaker 8: and a lot of them they have that built in
- 14:02Speaker 8: music coming in, that live music, and that that really
- 14:05Speaker 8: goes up to ip our Iley for the fails affairs
- 14:07Speaker 8: and festivals and those events, the chili cookoffs, things that
- 14:10Speaker 8: we you.
- 14:10Speaker 5: Mentioned, the album. Theater there's always good stuff.
- 14:13Speaker 8: You know, and and the academy there's there's opportunities for
- 14:17Speaker 8: for plays and lessons and and I'm really proud I've
- 14:20Speaker 8: got cousins that are coming down from Charleston to go
- 14:22Speaker 8: to the Alburn Theater for classes and taking musical theater
- 14:25Speaker 8: classes and acting classes. My own daughters are in and
- 14:28Speaker 8: involved there, So there's really opportunity that you've got the outdoors,
- 14:32Speaker 8: you've got the sports, you've got the theater, you've got
- 14:34Speaker 8: you've got the restaurants, you've got the bakeries. It's come
- 14:36Speaker 8: on down to Saint Albans and it really is a
- 14:38Speaker 8: great place to enjoy and spend your time.
- 14:42Speaker 5: And of course you have Steve Animal too.
- 14:43Speaker 8: We do, we do. He's he's loud and fun. We'll
- 14:47Speaker 8: always enjoy me. We'll be with us on Friday night,
- 14:50Speaker 8: of course, kicking offfest and having a great time down
- 14:53Speaker 8: there on the street.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Steve Animal from Our Sisters says ninety eight seven a
- 14:57Speaker 5: mounth in wild wonderful classic rock our station, which I'm
- 15:00Speaker 5: on that too. We're gonna be a big part of
- 15:01Speaker 5: that this weekend. We're looking forward to seeing everybody down there.
- 15:03Speaker 5: It's gonna be Whe's the best place where people can
- 15:05Speaker 5: get like a complete rundown of all all the stuff
- 15:07Speaker 5: that's going on.
- 15:09Speaker 8: You can go to YAKFESTWV dot com or Saint Albans
- 15:12Speaker 8: Fairs and Festivals on Facebook or Yakfest WV on Facebook.
- 15:16Speaker 5: I mean, this is we are. There's always stuff going
- 15:19Speaker 5: on in the Canall valley guys, but I mean we're
- 15:21Speaker 5: really getting into it now because I mentioned the USA

- 15:44Speaker 8: what's called the Moving Wall Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall. It's
- 15:49Speaker 8: a small replica version. I say small, it's it's about
- 15:51Speaker 8: two hundred and fifty feet long, so it's not small
- 15:53Speaker 8: in comparison in comparison to the one in DC. But
- 15:56Speaker 8: it'll be set up at the Kmart parking lot in
- 15:59Speaker 8: Saint all West Virginia for June twenty fifth to twenty

- 16:14Speaker 5: All right, recap the times and everything again.
- 16:17Speaker 8: We've got Yakfest kicking off at four o'clock on Friday,
- 16:21Speaker 8: closing at ten o'clock Saturday. We've got two o'clock to
- 16:25Speaker 8: ten o'clock. We've got Davidson Brothers taking the stage for
- 16:28Speaker 8: Friday night as the headliner, and Soda Pop Gypsy's taking

- 16:52Speaker 8: No charge to entry, no charge to listen. Of course,
- 16:56Speaker 8: your your food and the things that you're gonna purchase. Yes,
- 17:00Speaker 8: water slides for free. We got a robotics show that'll
- 17:04Speaker 8: be going on. We got some kids that are going
- 17:05Speaker 8: to do a little robotic show at six o'clock, around
- 17:07Speaker 8: six o'clock I think on Friday. So yeah, the streets
- 17:11Speaker 8: open to enjoy, the environment's open to enjoy, no cost
- 17:14Speaker 8: at all. How far are you you know you purchase
- 17:18Speaker 8: the cuffs for your beverages or your foods that you'd
- 17:21Speaker 8: like to eat there, and your crafts. But I know
- 17:23Speaker 8: I end up spending quite a bit when my little
- 17:25Speaker 8: girls walk in and I want this and I need that,
- 17:28Speaker 8: and I want to and I need it.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but I didn't name it.

- 22:12Speaker 5: On this show tomorrow morning, among others, Attorney General J. B.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Mccusky will stop by, and one other programming note. You
- 22:19Speaker 5: may be familiar with the name Michael Eric Dyson. He
- 22:22Speaker 5: is an author, a minister, political commentator, seen on everything
- 22:26Speaker 5: from Meet the Press to Bill Maher college professor too.
- 22:30Speaker 5: He is in Charleston for some of the Juneteenth Festive
- 22:33Speaker 5: and he's going to join me in studio Thursday morning.
- 22:36Speaker 5: I am certainly looking forward to that. I always look
- 22:39Speaker 5: forward to talking to this guy. Former mayor, sheriff, legislator, restauranteur,
- 22:43Speaker 5: radio host, actor, gravedigger. It's Danny Jones.
- 22:47Speaker 2: How you doing you knowing man? Do you know anything
- 22:49Speaker 2: about Michael Eric Dyson?
- 22:53Speaker 5: Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He's very entertaining among
- 23:01Speaker 5: other things. And look, my big shout out to my
- 23:03Speaker 5: man Ray Whiting, because Ray is the one that made
- 23:05Speaker 5: this whole thing happen. Ray reached out to me and
- 23:08Speaker 5: told me about him, and I said, you think we
- 23:09Speaker 5: can make this happen. So he's actually going to come
- 23:11Speaker 5: in studio with me on Thursday morning. Yeah, yeah, I'm
- 23:16Speaker 5: looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to talking to
- 23:18Speaker 5: him because he's he's one of those guys. And as
- 23:20Speaker 5: I said, he's been on, He's on Meet the Press,
- 23:23Speaker 5: all the CBS Sunday Morning show, was on Tucker Carlson.
- 23:27Speaker 5: He he was, Yeah, he didn't every with Tucker Carlson. Yep, yep.
- 23:31Speaker 5: He sits down with all that. That's the thing I
- 23:32Speaker 5: like about the guy is I don't agree with him
- 23:35Speaker 5: on everything, but he's not the kind of guy that
- 23:38Speaker 5: just says, Okay, I am only going to talk to
- 23:41Speaker 5: people who think like I do. He goes on pretty
- 23:43Speaker 5: much any I mean, hell, he's coming on my show.
- 23:45Speaker 5: So he has his very little standard.
- 23:47Speaker 2: So I mean he.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Does. He's a very good, good speaker, and he can
- 23:54Speaker 5: be polarized. He's got a PhD. I just found that
- 23:56Speaker 5: was doing a little research earlier this morning. He's got
- 23:58Speaker 5: a pH d and a fascinating guy. He's from Detroit,
- 24:03Speaker 5: originally raised in Detroit.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Uh that I do.
- 24:08Speaker 5: I don't know, Ray, if you're listening, tell me where
- 24:11Speaker 5: he's based now, because Ray listens to the show every day.
- 24:13Speaker 5: But what I'm looking forward to it. Uh, he's going
- 24:15Speaker 5: to be on the show, probably next to you. The
- 24:17Speaker 5: most famous guest I've had on the show.
- 24:20Speaker 14: He's uh, and you want to say something, Danny, what
- 24:25Speaker 14: is I watched him debate Ben Shapiro, and.
- 24:32Speaker 2: You gotta, you gotta keep up with the words. I mean,
- 24:37Speaker 2: because he uses the language that it's pretty heavy, and
- 24:45Speaker 2: it's it's sometimes the verbs of missing.
- 24:50Speaker 5: I mean, well, I'll have to be on my toes
- 24:53Speaker 5: for that, because you know I do not have a PhD.
- 24:56Speaker 5: So and he does, so he'll be on the show
- 25:00Speaker 5: teenth he's coming for the well, he's coming for all
- 25:03Speaker 5: the festivities around that. Yeah, he's the multi fast and
- 25:05Speaker 5: so on and so forth. Then that is when Friday okay,
- 25:11Speaker 5: and and it's always I don't controversial is not the
- 25:14Speaker 5: word I want to use, but you know it's it's
- 25:17Speaker 5: federal holiday, but it's not observed in certain areas. Most
- 25:23Speaker 5: companies are going to be closed on Friday because it's
- 25:26Speaker 5: a federal holiday for Juneteenth. And it's something that the
- 25:30Speaker 5: last couple of years, I've had a lot of people
- 25:32Speaker 5: on the show that it's said, well, I never heard
- 25:33Speaker 5: of it. Well, it's been a thing for a long time.
- 25:36Speaker 2: It was never done as an act of Congress. It
- 25:40Speaker 2: was done by executive order of President Biden. I don't
- 25:46Speaker 2: think I'm trying to remember.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Okay, well, we'll have to do a little homework on that. Yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 5: because it's it was controversial, I guess a couple of
- 25:54Speaker 5: years ago when the the Morrisey administration opted not to
- 25:59Speaker 5: give it off as a state holiday.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Did they give it off this Friday?
- 26:03Speaker 5: Not, as far as I am aware. If somebody knows
- 26:06Speaker 5: any different, they can let me know about that.
- 26:08Speaker 2: And it's not a bona fide federal holiday.
- 26:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's uh, I don't know. Hey, congratulations
- 26:15Speaker 5: you're alma mater, George Washington. They won the state baseball
- 26:18Speaker 5: championship Saturday night.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I heard, yeah, I heard, all right. Get I had
- 26:23Speaker 2: one of my friends from West was texting me. He said,
- 26:27Speaker 2: your teen's on television talking about the Mountaineers. And I
- 26:32Speaker 2: was explaining to him and this guy one time had
- 26:34Speaker 2: a short sent with the Buffalo Bills O a friend
- 26:37Speaker 2: of yours in California, and he said, I told him Jay,
- 26:42Speaker 2: I said, the Mountaineers are it here. I mean, we
- 26:48Speaker 2: don't have the Dodgers or the Rams or the I
- 26:52Speaker 2: get it or I go I go see the California Angels.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I don't even know what they call.
- 27:01Speaker 5: The the what are they now? Like the Los Angeles
- 27:04Speaker 5: Angels of Anaheim?
- 27:05Speaker 2: They were at one time down that's an hour and
- 27:09Speaker 2: a half away from Los Angeles, right, Yeah, well they've
- 27:12Speaker 2: been all over. But what I'm saying is there's so
- 27:15Speaker 2: much sports, The Clippers, the Lakers, you know, there's so much.
- 27:20Speaker 2: There's so much to go to out there. That said,
- 27:25Speaker 2: the Mountaineers are it for us?
- 27:26Speaker 5: Well, and look, I am a Marshall guy. I bleed
- 27:29Speaker 5: Kelly Green. You know. However, I realize and this puts
- 27:33Speaker 5: me in the crosshairs with a lot of Mountaineer fans,
- 27:35Speaker 5: or a lot of Marshall fans, I should say. From
- 27:37Speaker 5: time to time, I realized the WBU are the big
- 27:39Speaker 5: dogs here in West Virginia, and they're always going to
- 27:41Speaker 5: be based on size. Yeah, and Marshall's had a lot
- 27:43Speaker 5: of success, and I'm playing I'm proud to be a
- 27:46Speaker 5: part of Marshall and the Big Green and the whole deal.
- 27:48Speaker 5: But I've also been following the Mountaineers closely during this
- 27:52Speaker 5: world series. And spoiler alert, you can actually want the
- 27:56Speaker 5: best for both teams as long as they're not playing
- 27:58Speaker 5: each other. Now they play for each other. I'm All Marshall.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Okay, So David, why don't they do that anymore? Joe?
- 28:05Speaker 9: That happen?
- 28:05Speaker 5: Well, you you get into Danny an entire argument about
- 28:10Speaker 5: this West West Virginia. People say there's no upside for
- 28:14Speaker 5: them because if they win, it doesn't really mean a
- 28:17Speaker 5: whole lot, but if they lose, it means a whole
- 28:19Speaker 5: heck of a lot. And and so that's why a
- 28:22Speaker 5: lot of the people just, I mean, you know, it's
- 28:25Speaker 5: right time.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I think it's good.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's what people say they want Marshall had Moss. Yeah, still,
- 28:31Speaker 5: and that's what I said. Look, if we didn't meet
- 28:32Speaker 5: WVU when we had Randy Moss and Chad Pennington, chances
- 28:35Speaker 5: are we're not going to beat them on a regular basis,
- 28:36Speaker 5: not in football. Now we have one in other sports,
- 28:39Speaker 5: baseball and in basketball and so on. As say, you know,
- 28:41Speaker 5: Marshall's got some great teams. I think it's a great thing. Uh,
- 28:47Speaker 5: I think. I think it's a great thing for the state.
- 28:49Speaker 5: But I but I also as a sports guy, I
- 28:51Speaker 5: also understand the argument that's made by WVU that there's
- 28:56Speaker 5: really no upside for them either way. If they win.
- 28:58Speaker 5: It's like you're supposed to win, but if you lose,
- 29:01Speaker 5: it's a whole lot bigger deal.
- 29:02Speaker 2: When I was a little kid, I was baseball crazy
- 29:06Speaker 2: and I had a little white transistor radio and I
- 29:10Speaker 2: had it in my pocket and I would walk home
- 29:14Speaker 2: from school. There'd be a ballgame on, probably the Reds. Yeah,
- 29:20Speaker 2: and I would run the wire and put the one
- 29:25Speaker 2: headphone in listen to baseball.
- 29:27Speaker 5: There's nothing like baseball on the radio.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Sometimes I did it in school.
- 29:32Speaker 5: Everybody did.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Juneteenth, according to a texture, is a bona fide federal
- 29:37Speaker 5: holiday condified in law. And then they give the they
- 29:39Speaker 5: give the actual code.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Well, okay, all right, I stam corrected. Then why federal
- 29:48Speaker 2: holiday means it stay closest.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Well, I guess the states have the right to do
- 29:52Speaker 5: what they want, whether they choose to observe it or not. Okay, yeah,
- 29:57Speaker 5: I mean I'm presuming because I think if I correct,
- 30:00Speaker 5: if my memory serves me right, and somebody can correct
- 30:03Speaker 5: me if I'm not right. I believe it was celebrated
- 30:06Speaker 5: one year, but Governor Morrissey others, you know, Governor Morrissey,
- 30:11Speaker 5: it says it's not a holiday, which I think is
- 30:13Speaker 5: a pretty bad look to be honest with you from
- 30:15Speaker 5: a pr standpoint. But that's just me. I don't know
- 30:17Speaker 5: a whole lot.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I believe i'd observe it. Yeah, a Vegas parvi a
- 30:23Speaker 2: pretty good idea to observe it.
- 30:25Speaker 5: Twenty two away from Tama Day Island show on five
- 30:27Speaker 5: at Eline Brown to you aparted by Pinnacle Consultants selp
- 30:29Speaker 5: me to identify environmental concerns like asvestos led mold and
- 30:33Speaker 5: indoor quality issues and buildings all across the safe providing inspections,
- 30:36Speaker 5: testing and accredit to the lab services. You could trust
- 30:39Speaker 5: this Appinnacle Court dot net helping you understand your environment
- 30:41Speaker 5: because what you don't know can hurt you. Danny Iran,
- 30:46Speaker 5: the US and Iran apparently have a deal too in
- 30:49Speaker 5: the war. Again, Well, this one looks a little bit.
- 30:52Speaker 5: This looks a little bit more serious.
- 30:55Speaker 7: Uh.
- 30:55Speaker 5: It is expected to open the straight off Horn moves
- 30:59Speaker 5: and would end the naval blockade of Iranian ports. That's well,
- 31:06Speaker 5: I hope so well. Many people, though, Danny, are saying
- 31:11Speaker 5: that it does nothing about Iran's nuclear program, which is
- 31:14Speaker 5: one of the main reasons why we went to work
- 31:16Speaker 5: to begin with.
- 31:17Speaker 2: That's not true.
- 31:18Speaker 5: Well, I'm here. Look hear me out here. If all
- 31:22Speaker 5: goes according to plan, the agreement would be signed in
- 31:26Speaker 5: Geneva on Friday, And if that happened, of course, the
- 31:29Speaker 5: deal includes a sixty days ceasefire. So they're saying, this
- 31:32Speaker 5: was the article I was reading the New York Times
- 31:34Speaker 5: this morning. The discussion of Iran's nuclear capabilities would be
- 31:38Speaker 5: discussed more at that time. This is more about.
- 31:41Speaker 2: The immediate Well, but they would have sixty days to
- 31:48Speaker 2: negotiate about the their arsenal. Whatever it is which we
- 31:56Speaker 2: said we obliterated, well, we buried it and we kept up.
- 32:01Speaker 2: We held it up for a couple of years. I
- 32:04Speaker 2: mean it it'd be tough to get out of the ground.
- 32:07Speaker 2: You'd find it. But it's not as simple as it was.
- 32:11Speaker 2: You can't just but we could do that again, David.
- 32:15Speaker 2: And you know I'm more worried. I mean, I'm worried
- 32:22Speaker 2: about the missiles. You know, the missiles are inside, can
- 32:27Speaker 2: be done out of a building.
- 32:29Speaker 5: But it'll be worried about the drones too, right, Because
- 32:33Speaker 5: drones can come from the air, they can come from
- 32:35Speaker 5: the ocean, they can come from a variety of different places.
- 32:37Speaker 5: And we have them too. Don't get me wrong. We
- 32:39Speaker 5: have them too, But I think I think people aren't
- 32:41Speaker 5: necessarily talking enough about drones.
- 32:43Speaker 2: But I don't know what's the advantage for Ron not
- 32:51Speaker 2: to do, to do something like this. There are economies
- 32:57Speaker 2: in a shambles. Their dollar their their money's not worth anything.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I mean, their people are suffering. I don't know why.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Let's keep in mind, this is not necessarily a country
- 33:13Speaker 5: that's known for really caring about its people that much.
- 33:15Speaker 5: This is a country that's bombed its own people and
- 33:18Speaker 5: so on and so forth. So I mean, I understand,
- 33:20Speaker 5: I agree with what you're saying, but I don't know
- 33:22Speaker 5: that the welfare of their people is of top of
- 33:25Speaker 5: mind of them.

- 36:53Speaker 5: to push back on that because like the verbiage of that.
- 36:57Speaker 5: But if Governor Morrissey wants to go on erroll at him,
- 37:00Speaker 5: let him talk about it.
- 37:01Speaker 2: I just think it's a mistake. It's just a mistake.
- 37:05Speaker 5: Texays. Trump is the best at creating problems and solving
- 37:09Speaker 5: them in the most mediocre way possible.
- 37:14Speaker 2: We'll see, well, we'll see how that winds up. I'm
- 37:17Speaker 2: watching this Tyler Robinson, he's the one that shot Charlie
- 37:20Speaker 2: kirk Kirk. Where was that, David, Where where was that?
- 37:26Speaker 5: I already forgot. I'll look it up. I don't remember
- 37:29Speaker 5: where it happened to me?
- 37:32Speaker 2: Was it? Yeah?
- 37:32Speaker 5: I look it up.
- 37:33Speaker 2: And they wanted to get rid of the death penalty,
- 37:39Speaker 2: and but that would depend on what state it's in.
- 37:42Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's I don't know. I was watching
- 37:46Speaker 5: an episode of Bill Maher over the weekend, and this
- 37:49Speaker 5: was one from a couple of weeks ago, and he
- 37:51Speaker 5: was talking about, uh, these uh these gen z assassins
- 37:57Speaker 5: or would be assassins, and it's really now. I'm a
- 38:00Speaker 5: big Bill Maher fan. I don't agree with him on everything,
- 38:02Speaker 5: but I'm a big I'm a big fan. Anyway, he
- 38:05Speaker 5: was talking about how badly uh that that a lot
- 38:09Speaker 5: of the folks think that they have it now, younger folks.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Yeah, everything changed.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Uh Utah, it was Utah. Yeah, it was Utah.
- 38:20Speaker 7: Ah.
- 38:20Speaker 2: That's a death.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Uh Utah Valley University in orem Utah is where it was.
- 38:26Speaker 2: That's a death penalty state.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Yeah, Tex says Michael Eric Dyson is currently a professor
- 38:31Speaker 5: at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. That's what one of the
- 38:34Speaker 5: things he's doing now. Uh Text says West Virginia State
- 38:40Speaker 5: holidays are set by law and then the texture gives
- 38:43Speaker 5: the code. Again, June tenth is not among those specifically listed.
- 38:46Speaker 5: The governor has discretion to declare it a holiday. Can
- 38:49Speaker 5: anyone figure out why Morrissey won't do it or why
- 38:52Speaker 5: did the Republican legislature won't add June teenth?
- 38:57Speaker 2: You when you don't declared the holiday you pointed out,
- 39:02Speaker 2: I mean, you point out, and that's the it's a
- 39:05Speaker 2: negative why.
- 39:09Speaker 5: Zeck says, I wonder what country Trump will try to
- 39:12Speaker 5: overthrow next. Cuba might be too much to handle like
- 39:15Speaker 5: Iran was now.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Cuba is in real trouble because they can't get oil.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Their oil came from Venezuela. You know, one thing, one
- 39:26Speaker 2: thing that I didn't know Venezuela was a narco state.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Of their Two of their they're either top ministers, were
- 39:38Speaker 2: involved in it, and one has a twenty five million
- 39:42Speaker 2: dollar price on the head and one was fifteen. We
- 39:47Speaker 2: just couldn't get all three of them, so we got Maduro.
- 39:51Speaker 2: But they were making so much money in drugs that
- 39:55Speaker 2: they were just given all the oil to Cuba. And
- 39:59Speaker 2: now Cuba doesn't have oil or they don't have what
- 40:02Speaker 2: they certainly don't have what they need. We allowed Russia
- 40:07Speaker 2: to take oil to them, take some oil to them.
- 40:13Speaker 2: We didn't have to allow that.
- 40:15Speaker 5: Texas Trump's clown show last night had to pay fans
- 40:18Speaker 5: to show up. It was a big failure. Talking about
- 40:20Speaker 5: the UFC fight, I'm not a UFC fan, so I
- 40:22Speaker 5: didn't watch it, so I don't know. I only know
- 40:24Speaker 5: what I read about it this morning. Well, I do
- 40:27Speaker 5: know that one of the fighters in his uh I
- 40:30Speaker 5: guess his postmatch interview or whatever, referred to o'hell Michelle
- 40:33Speaker 5: Obama's being a man. He yeld that in a microphone,
- 40:36Speaker 5: which is really unfortunate.
- 40:37Speaker 2: You know what, it's hard to get in the White House,
- 40:43Speaker 2: It's real hard. As a mayor, it was hard, and
- 40:48Speaker 2: we had to get off the bus, get on the bus,
- 40:51Speaker 2: get back, and you had to go. It was so
- 40:54Speaker 2: tough getting.
- 40:55Speaker 5: What years were you there at the White House.
- 41:00Speaker 2: When I was mayor, probably twenty ten, twenty eleven. I
- 41:06Speaker 2: remember when I left early and walked out with Oscar
- 41:11Speaker 2: Goodman's wife. She was mayor of Las Vegas. He was mayor.
- 41:17Speaker 2: You know he is. He's a criminal lawyer. He was
- 41:20Speaker 2: a lawyer for Tony Spilatra and all the mafia guys.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Then he became mayor of Las Vegas, and then when
- 41:28Speaker 2: he turned was turned out. Then his wife became mayor,
- 41:32Speaker 2: and I walked her out and we got a ride
- 41:35Speaker 2: back to the hotel.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Tex says, Dave Trump got punked by Iran. Do you
- 41:40Speaker 5: believe that, Danny, not yet? Not yet?
- 41:44Speaker 2: You say, no, we don't know yet. Now he didn't
- 41:49Speaker 2: get punked. I mean he did a lot of damage.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Now I don't buy that.
- 41:57Speaker 5: Tex says, did you seriously just say? I was reading
- 42:00Speaker 5: in the New York Times this morning. That tells you
- 42:02Speaker 5: everything you need to know right there. But then I
- 42:04Speaker 5: guess the New York Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and
- 42:08Speaker 5: it's now the Washington post et cetera. Do or do
- 42:11Speaker 5: not report on something that determines if a true, if
- 42:14Speaker 5: a story is true or not. I read a variety
- 42:17Speaker 5: of things. Well, well, the text is saying, basically taking
- 42:21Speaker 5: issue with me saying that I read something in the
- 42:23Speaker 5: New York Times. Why would I not read the New
- 42:25Speaker 5: York Times? Why would I not watch Fox News? Why
- 42:27Speaker 5: would I not watch CNN? I mean, you want something
- 42:29Speaker 5: from every possible Wall Street journal. I mean, I mean, yeah, I.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Read, I read the Times. Is there any specific thing
- 42:37Speaker 2: that you can remember?
- 42:38Speaker 5: Well, now, I was just saying about that. I was
- 42:40Speaker 5: giving quotes about the deal, and I said, as I
- 42:44Speaker 5: was reading in the in the New York Times. Yeah,
- 42:47Speaker 5: but I mean, yeah, of course I'm going to read
- 42:49Speaker 5: the New York Times as much as I am going
- 42:51Speaker 5: to read conservative things and liberal things. You got to
- 42:54Speaker 5: read a little bit of everything, in my opinion. I mean,
- 42:56Speaker 5: that's that's just my opinion.
- 42:58Speaker 8: Uh.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Text, they got a thing in the Times in the
- 43:04Speaker 2: arts section, and they got little subtitles and it says
- 43:09Speaker 2: what to watch, and you can go there and say,
- 43:12Speaker 2: all the good stuff on Netflix, and all the good
- 43:15Speaker 2: stuff on Hulu and all the different things. And then
- 43:18Speaker 2: They have a book section and they recommend books to
- 43:23Speaker 2: read and out of ten you might find one. And
- 43:29Speaker 2: I found one called Mister Smith Go to Prison And
- 43:34Speaker 2: it was about a politician in Missouri who was a
- 43:37Speaker 2: PhD who got set up by one of his previous
- 43:41Speaker 2: camp It was a previous campaign and he wound up
- 43:45Speaker 2: having to go to prison and he tells a story
- 43:47Speaker 2: about it and it's really good, a really good book.

- 46:33Speaker 5: Speaking of media, tex says, you said Fox News is

- 47:41Speaker 5: Texas Day. We will be back in Iran very soon
- 47:43Speaker 5: with military action. Those people in charge of Iran will
- 47:46Speaker 5: never keep a treaty or h will never keep a
- 47:50Speaker 5: treaty on having a nuclear weapon. The leadership in Iran
- 47:54Speaker 5: has proven this time after time they simply can't be trusted.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Who who is a leadership? And do we even know?
- 48:03Speaker 5: Well, last week, during an interview, President Trump said that
- 48:07Speaker 5: he at one point that he had talked to the
- 48:09Speaker 5: the guy in command there, but he was in very,
- 48:12Speaker 5: very bad shape. And I don't know whether that was
- 48:14Speaker 5: ever verified that he that he talked to him or not.
- 48:17Speaker 5: I don't know, text says Dave. When Trump became president,
- 48:20Speaker 5: West Virginia lost over two billion dollars in federal funds
- 48:23Speaker 5: that already passed Congress. Where's the money, Capitol?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Is that for real?
- 48:30Speaker 5: I don't know. I just I just read the text, Danny.
- 48:32Speaker 5: I just read the text. All right? What else is
- 48:35Speaker 5: on your mind? He been in California lately, I'll be
- 48:38Speaker 5: I'll be going to end of the month.
- 48:40Speaker 2: You know what I was thinking about? And I've said
- 48:42Speaker 2: this before. I don't want to bore you, but I
- 48:46Speaker 2: used to come back here when I was thirteen years
- 48:48Speaker 2: old and watch big time wrestling right back here, right.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Where we are, and it's very in this very room.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Yeah. And now, of course all this was empty and
- 48:58Speaker 2: Bill Richards was the common and they had one set
- 49:04Speaker 2: of bleachers that they'd focus on as fans and if
- 49:08Speaker 2: everybody else had to stand up. So I just stood
- 49:11Speaker 2: up and watched it. And that he was a white guy.
- 49:16Speaker 2: He wore black leotards all over and they called him
- 49:19Speaker 2: the big Black Napoleon. And and then they had Gypsy
- 49:25Speaker 2: Joe and he would take an alcoholic spunge and pulled
- 49:29Speaker 2: out of this thing and rub rubbed the guy's eyes
- 49:32Speaker 2: with you.
- 49:32Speaker 5: Know, Gypsy Joe was wrestling when he was in his eighties.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he's I wore.
- 49:37Speaker 5: Shows a Gypsy Joe, and I used to be announcer.
- 49:39Speaker 5: I wore shows a gypsy. He died, he died, Yeah.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Yeah he was. He would, I mean he was. He
- 49:48Speaker 2: was here for a long time and then those players
