- 0:26And I'm Tay. And in this week's episode, we
- 0:29are heading to a dodgy hotel for Mcfly's room on the third floor.
- 0:33We are super excited this week because we are very lucky to
- 0:35have our first full episode guest with us.
- 0:38Not only is she a full on Galaxy defender, yeah rock on, but also
- 0:43one of my best friends, please welcome Miss Natasha Woodcock.
- 0:49Hello. How are you?
- 0:50Hello. I'm well.
- 0:51Welcome. Welcome.
- 0:52No, we're good. We're very, very happy to have
- 0:54you here. I'm.
- 0:54Very happy to be here. Thanks so much for joining us.
- 0:58We are thrilled to have you on the podcast.
- 1:00Tell us how you are. How's your week been?
- 1:03My week has been fine so far, weather's been a bit rubbish but
- 1:06I've been out and taking the dog for.
- 1:09A walk, yeah, Tasha's literally like I should be paying her to
- 1:11to look after my dog because she just.
- 1:13Comes. No, I'm.
- 1:14Going for a walk, should I take blue?
- 1:16I'm like yes please. He is literally.
- 1:17Like therapy, isn't he? He's such a good boy.
- 1:20So yeah, it's been getting me out, especially in the rain as
- 1:23well, which has been really nice.
- 1:24So he he. Absolutely loves you so much so
- 1:26it's it's. Nice.
- 1:27Mutual. It's mutual.
- 1:30Good, good. How are you, Shan?
- 1:31What have you been up to? Yeah, well, I was going to say
- 1:35I'm great, but actually, not going to lie, I've been really
- 1:37poorly this week. I don't know whether it was the
- 1:40tour or working in a school, but I got the sickness bad.
- 1:44So I've been rotting away online Christmas shopping.
- 1:48Awful. Rotting away.
- 1:50I. Just love that.
- 1:52And I've been bingeing like awful Netflix shows, like like
- 1:56Hallmark Christmas movies. Nice.
- 2:00Live in the dream. I mean, it's that time of year.
- 2:02Yeah, right. I did actually make it out on
- 2:04Saturday night to a carnival which was really good although
- 2:07it was almost 3 hours long and my kids had had enough by like
- 2:11hour one. Not ideal they.
- 2:15Were like, when's it going to end?
- 2:17It looks even. Fun.
- 2:18Oh, it did look good. That was your video, you know,
- 2:20with air Hostess? Yeah.
- 2:22I. Literally when I didn't even see
- 2:23it. And Shannon had messaged me
- 2:24privately, but I didn't see her message until she'd actually
- 2:27posted it on the page. And I was like, this is so cool.
- 2:30Yeah, yeah. Can I be the actress?
- 2:33Honestly, it was so, so good. Like it was just, you know, like
- 2:37normally there's like a float and then a few like twirly
- 2:41ribbon people and like walking people and then a float.
- 2:44And this wasn't. It was like almost 3 hours of
- 2:47just amazing float after amazing float.
- 2:50I love that. That's so cool.
- 2:52And they were all doing dance like a proper dance routine.
- 2:54Did you actually have like mechanics as well?
- 2:57Like, yeah. It was so and they really,
- 2:59really, really got into it the whole we were right at the end
- 3:02and they were still going for it.
- 3:04So. Yeah, it wasn't raining.
- 3:08It was raining in the morning, but it which made for a really
- 3:12clear night, so it was OK. It was just really cold.
- 3:15Yeah, I kind of like that this time of year.
- 3:18I sort of. I'm really in my, like, boots,
- 3:20jumper and scarf phase at the moment.
- 3:22Like I just bought, you said those velvety leggings.
- 3:25Have you got those? Oh, pyjamas?
- 3:27That would be cute. Yeah.
- 3:28But we're going on The Polar Express at the end of this
- 3:31month. Are you?
- 3:32I'm so excited. Yeah.
- 3:34We're taking Marley and my sister-in-law and her little
- 3:37girl, and yeah, we're going on Polish spots.
- 3:39I can't wait till I actually get to wear my pyjamas outside of
- 3:42the house for the first time ever.
- 3:43I'm so excited. So good.
- 3:46Yeah. How about you?
- 3:47What have you done this week? Today.
- 3:50It's been a really busy weekend here.
- 3:52I've been a market this weekend, the spiritual market, because I
- 3:56in my spare time, other than doing this wonderful podcast
- 3:59with you, I have to run a small business.
- 4:02So I've been flogging my wares at the market.
- 4:05But it went really well in the end and and made some money.
- 4:07So it's definitely worth it. And I had my mop chopped and
- 4:11died today. So I feel like a new woman
- 4:13because, you know, everybody needs a boost every now and
- 4:16again. It's very dark but I am getting
- 4:18used to it. No, it looks.
- 4:20Really nice. I'm very much in my like winter
- 4:22mode now, like I and I think it was seeing Shannon put her
- 4:25Christmas tree up. You've got your Christmas.
- 4:27Tree. Yes, I have.
- 4:28Oh my God, I've been Paulie, I've been Paulie.
- 4:32So I was like any kind of. I was sat on my sofa genuinely
- 4:36in like 3 day old pyjamas with yesterday's dinner on them and I
- 4:40was like what can I do to make myself feel better?
- 4:43Oh wait I know, go and buy it. Also, I went and bought a new
- 4:48Christmas tree. You you did say you were going
- 4:51to treat yourself to a new Christmas tree this year.
- 4:53I've got a free lit Christmas tree and I just put it up.
- 4:57I love the what can I do to make myself feel better?
- 5:00I'm going to put my Christmas tree.
- 5:02I've not washed my three day old dinner bananas.
- 5:05No, no, they stayed on last. I went to Tesco's to buy my I
- 5:08love to buy my tree. I love it.
- 5:11Yeah, but that's the way we adult.
- 5:13That's adultery, isn't it? Yeah.
- 5:15Buy Christmas tree. I love it.
- 5:16I If I could get away with putting my Christmas tree up and
- 5:19my husband not absolutely ripping the shit out of me for
- 5:21it, I would do it 100%. Bradley did say to me, I do it.
- 5:25And he did say to me, he was like, you're not putting that
- 5:28now, are you? I was like, yeah, I am sorry.
- 5:29And he was like, we can't. I was like, no, I'm not even
- 5:32going to pretend to argue about this because I'm going to put it
- 5:35up. And he was like, Ryan, I'm going
- 5:36to obsess. I love you.
- 5:38Bye. And I put on Gavin and Stacey's
- 5:40Christmas special. Oh.
- 5:43Absolutely. Oh so good.
- 5:44It's like a tradition, isn't it? You've got to have something
- 5:46like that one. And my sister-in-law also has
- 5:48her Christmas tree up and her partner even re shared it on his
- 5:53Instagram and I messaged him. I was like can you please teach
- 5:56Jack how to like putting a Christmas tree up in November
- 5:59because I need mine up. A month is not long enough.
- 6:02I'm sorry, it's not long enough. But I'm also one of those
- 6:05people, I don't know if it's because I've had kids, but
- 6:08Boxing Day my tree gets taken down because I'm over stimulated
- 6:12with the amount of toys and like decorations and everything in
- 6:14the house. Yeah, I haven't.
- 6:16I'm normally like a first week of January girl but I feel like
- 6:19it might be different than shit with mine.
- 6:21Yeah. I just was that I need my living
- 6:23room back. Mine is definitely day after
- 6:27Boxing Day or the day after the day after Boxing Day.
- 6:30So like before New Year's? Oh yeah, get it?
- 6:32Down New year is a new year? I don't know.
- 6:34Need to go into the new. Year to be fair, I'm so actually
- 6:37I feel like that might be more my style this year because that
- 6:40first week of January like before you go back to work
- 6:44properly, obviously in schools because I work in schools.
- 6:47So I always have like the first few days off and it's like
- 6:49complete spring clean time like it's winter clean, but obviously
- 6:53it's like get everything away. So maybe getting the tree down
- 6:56early is a good idea. Anyway, we're talking about
- 6:58Christmas and it's November, so should we probably move on?
- 7:02That's the first thing we normally ask all of our guests
- 7:05is the most anticipated question and and we've had lots of very
- 7:10mixed responses. But are you Team Busted or Team
- 7:13McFly? I mean, I am 100% down to the
- 7:17bone Team McFly, and I'm not. I'm not shy about it.
- 7:22Galaxy defender forever, yeah. Absolutely, absolutely love
- 7:27that. And you've listened to McFly for
- 7:29as long as we have, haven't you? Yeah, yeah, one of my first
- 7:32albums was. Yeah, yeah, amazing.
- 7:36We actually spoke about this last week, didn't we?
- 7:38About how we used to have our old like stereo players and like
- 7:41our stack of CD Oh yeah, by the side and like.
- 7:43Ripped on Limewire. Yeah.
- 7:46Oh my God. Downloaded on utorrent.
- 7:48Yeah. Oh my God.
- 7:50Yeah. I actually found a playlist the
- 7:52other day for that was called like Limewire era.
- 7:55And I was like, Oh my God, I feel so loved.
- 7:58You know, when you speak to your friends, you're like, do you
- 7:59know what Limewire is? And they're like, no.
- 8:01And you're like, Oh yeah, that's.
- 8:04Good job. It's literally exactly how there
- 8:07were people that I used to work with that didn't know who Busted
- 8:09were because they were so young. There was a boy, there was a boy
- 8:14who was our KP. He was our like Saturday boy and
- 8:17he was born after Busted split up.
- 8:22That's so sad he didn't even get to see busted in their.
- 8:24Prime didn't even get to see busted in their prime.
- 8:27This is so upsetting to be honest.
- 8:29I think my sister's the same. My sister doesn't like she's,
- 8:33she's 97. I think she was born, so yes,
- 8:37it's maybe a little bit late, maybe 98, I can't remember.
- 8:39She's six years, She's six years younger than me, but she's not
- 8:42on this wave at all. She completely missed the boat
- 8:45for like the naughties music, I think because we were like young
- 8:49teenagers, weren't we in the naughties?
- 8:51Whereas she was like a bit younger.
- 8:53So she just didn't jump on their bandwagon.
- 8:55My it's my favourite music even now and it's 20 years later and
- 8:59I'm still listening to it every day in the car.
- 9:01I just remember seeing these 4 lads like on the five colours
- 9:06video and being like Oh my God. Like they are too cool like.
- 9:11Everything about them, like, Oh my God, the hair and clothes and
- 9:15you know, like. Your pin straight hair that's
- 9:17glued to your forehead. Yeah.
- 9:18Oh. My God, yeah.
- 9:20Like, you know when you get PVA glue at school and you put it on
- 9:22your hand, just go down there down the head.
- 9:25That was Danny. That was my stuff.
- 9:27Yeah. We talked about last week how he
- 9:29looks like he's one of those guys that would Hairspray his
- 9:31hair and then straighten it. Yeah, yeah, definitely was part.
- 9:35I'm here for it though. I'm here for it.
- 9:36Yeah, definitely. The other thing we like to ask
- 9:39is your favourite member of each band and your favourite song
- 9:43from each band too. Sorry, very different.
- 9:45Tricky question. I mean, my favourite, my
- 9:49favourite member of Busted has got to be Matt.
- 9:51Everybody chooses Matt. I know.
- 9:53And you know what? Like I kind of hate myself for
- 9:55it because he's just yeah, I don't know, you say that like
- 9:58about. I mean, yes, he is sexy, but you
- 10:00say about everyone choosing him. Like my best friend from home
- 10:03was 100% Charlie and. Yeah, I think if you asked me
- 10:07when I was younger, I would have said the one with the eyebrows.
- 10:10No. Do you?
- 10:11Sorry but James Bond, till I die.
- 10:13I love that though, love that. But like, there was something
- 10:16about Matt, and I think it was the like when I was a bit
- 10:19younger, I think deep down I had a bit of a greedy dark side.
- 10:24Bad boy attitude. Yeah, and I and I think it was
- 10:27always a bit like try to come out with like, yeah, I don't
- 10:30know, like back in the day I never would have like warm
- 10:32combust and now I'm combust all the time, you know.
- 10:35But like, I don't know, there was something about Matt.
- 10:38He was just like a little bit like it had that, like just a
- 10:41little bit of like, yeah, we talked.
- 10:43Last week there was a Smash Hits headline and in the corner it
- 10:46says something about Matt Willis being the naughty kid at school
- 10:50or something. Oh.
- 10:50Yeah, you can totally see that. Yeah, yeah.
- 10:52Probably the the kid in school that's sitting in class like
- 10:55making everyone laugh whilst getting in trouble.
- 10:57And I like exactly, yeah, it's his little vibe.
- 11:01It's definitely his bad boy vibe.
- 11:02Yeah. OK, so that's busted down harder
- 11:05question then is who is your favourite McFly member?
- 11:08I. Mean, I mean, I feel like, like
- 11:10everyone knows this, but it's Danny, Danny.
- 11:12Oh yeah. Danny Jones.
- 11:14Oh my God. You and Shannon have that in
- 11:16common. Oh God, what a guy.
- 11:18What a guy. My man.
- 11:20My man, the main man, Danny. Jones, I don't know what it I
- 11:23mean, I do know what it is about him.
- 11:24He's like, he's absolutely gorgeous.
- 11:26But again, he's got that, like, funny.
- 11:28Charisma. Cheeky chappie vibe.
- 11:31Got here like. Is that actually anything wrong?
- 11:33No, no, not a single thing. I can't, I can't even.
- 11:37Like even his freckles are good looking.
- 11:39Like there is nothing wrong with him in any aspect.
- 11:42And I've loved every hairstyle he's had, even when he got that
- 11:45curly hair and everyone. Was like curly hair.
- 11:48But then you learn to love it. And you're like.
- 11:49Oh yeah, I want to run my fingers through that.
- 11:51Have you seen, though, just going back to Matt Willis?
- 11:54Because I saw a picture earlier of Matt Willis with like, like
- 11:58short sides and like a curly little mop top.
- 12:01And I was like, where was this hairstyle and why haven't I seen
- 12:04that? I didn't even know where it was
- 12:06from. OK, find that.
- 12:08Photo I'm going to have to because I literally I was about
- 12:10to write under the video petition for Matt to grow his
- 12:12hair back please, because this is unbelievable.
- 12:15I'm talking of like favourite members and like lots of people
- 12:19being team Danny. Obviously we did AI thought we'd
- 12:22bring this back up. Shan from last episode.
- 12:25We did a snog marry. Avoid friendzone last.
- 12:28Week I did see this and it took me.
- 12:30A while to think, I just, I haven't sort of put it on our
- 12:33programme of things to talk about today, but I thought I
- 12:35might just throw it at you while you're here, Snog.
- 12:36Marry. Avoid friend zone because
- 12:39there's four members of OH. No, that's so.
- 12:41Cruel. I know it's horrible.
- 12:43Marry what? I mean I'm marrying Danny for
- 12:45sure. I want to wake up and look at
- 12:47that every morning. Snog Marry Danny.
- 12:51Avoid friend zone SO. Snog, avoid and friend.
- 12:53Zone. I'm obviously going to snog
- 12:56Dougie. Nice.
- 12:58Yeah, because I. Reckon I reckon he could go to
- 13:01town in my mouth. That's the best thing.
- 13:09Sorry, I love that. Sorry, mum.
- 13:11Oh, this is so hard because I feel like Harry's like a bit of
- 13:15a secret joke. Well, I'm not even a secret
- 13:18joker, but I just think sometimes he gets a bit
- 13:20overlooked and he's actually. I said that.
- 13:22As well, Yeah. And my I, I avoided Tom because
- 13:27I didn't want to split that family up.
- 13:30I didn't. I married Tom because I didn't
- 13:31care about. The families?
- 13:33What song is he singing at your wedding?
- 13:34Do you know what I mean? But if he used the same song but
- 13:38then just changed a couple of words, I wouldn't.
- 13:41Mind wouldn't mind. No, I think I'm with you, Shan.
- 13:44I think I'm probably going to friend zone Harry and avoid Tom.
- 13:48I'm sorry. I can't.
- 13:49Believe, and I'm sad to say that, but I'm sorry but you lot
- 13:52made this game up. I.
- 13:53Know I'm sad nobody agrees with me.
- 13:56There was a mix. There was actually a mix of
- 13:57responses on the polls. I put one on TikTok and one on
- 14:00Instagram and there was a few comments underneath as to like
- 14:03people that had why they had chosen the people that they'd
- 14:06chosen. And there was quite a few people
- 14:09similarly, actually quite a few people who were putting Tom in
- 14:13the marry category because of his like family life and how
- 14:16much of a good dad and a good husband he is.
- 14:19There were a couple of controversial comments about
- 14:21Danny. I can imagine.
- 14:23Which we don't. We won't go in, we won't go into
- 14:27on the podcast. However they would be they were
- 14:30his antics were being used as reasons not to marry him, which
- 14:34it's like they're just each of their own.
- 14:37Exactly, exactly. But we still love you.
- 14:39Danny well, I mean, if, if he wants to do that, then I'll just
- 14:42bring Tom back in the game, yeah.
- 14:44Tick tick, for each for their own.
- 14:48But it was actually really interesting to see everybody's
- 14:50choices. But the majority of people were
- 14:52marrying Tom or Danny and snogging the other, not Tom, but
- 14:58the other ones. And a lot of people avoiding my
- 15:01man Tom Fletcher, which makes me really sad.
- 15:04But Dougie seemed to be the majority friend zone.
- 15:07Really. Because that was my.
- 15:08Friend zone. We both chose friend zone, but I
- 15:10think it isn't because we don't want to lick his face, because
- 15:13obviously we do. It's because we think he'd be
- 15:16really funny and we just get on with him really well.
- 15:19Because he's got such a Yeah. He's got such a stupid, like,
- 15:23fun, Yeah, way of being, hasn't he?
- 15:26Absolutely love that. OK.
- 15:27And no worries, we'll just run away.
- 15:31Have a coffee. The other thing I was going to
- 15:34ask you is your favourite song. So we need a Busted song.
- 15:36Anna McFly song. Busted favourite song I think is
- 15:40Britney. Nice, just cleverly written.
- 15:43Which is next week's episode, So please tune in on Friday morning
- 15:46to hear Britney text Tash for the.
- 15:49Vlog this is really hard for me for McFly songs because they
- 15:56there's so many that like just hit you right in the fields,
- 15:58isn't there? And I do like some of the sadder
- 16:02ones that you can cry to in the car.
- 16:05Oh God, yeah. But I think one of my
- 16:07favourites, and I feel like it will be quite an overlooked 1 is
- 16:10Walk in the Sun. What album is that?
- 16:16That is. I thought so.
- 16:19Yeah, and I saw it, a bit of it. Well, God knows.
- 16:24I don't know where I was, but I cried.
- 16:25And I'd never cried at a gig before.
- 16:27And I was like, Oh my God, I'm not OK.
- 16:29We cry every time just for that one.
- 16:31Yeah. Do you know what I think that
- 16:32broke my seal and now I just know I go to.
- 16:35But yeah, I feel like it's just one of those ones that not
- 16:38everyone would know, but it's just so beautiful and.
- 16:42So good there are. Quite a few.
- 16:44There are quite a few overlooked ones I think.
- 16:46There is and some some that you think why didn't you release
- 16:49that? Live and like I've never heard
- 16:51them play live. Like I feel like I this year
- 16:54especially like knowing we were starting the podcast, I like
- 16:56rediscovered a lot of the older stuff and like the older albums
- 16:59because on my playlist I've got like the majority, you know, the
- 17:02ones that I know I love Rediscovered That's the truth
- 17:07the other day. Oh yeah.
- 17:08And what AII was literally in my kitchen like.
- 17:13This is the Best Song like. How was a time in my life so
- 17:16much? There was a time in my life when
- 17:19the when the name Frankie Bridge was a swear word because of that
- 17:24song. Oh yes.
- 17:26Do you remember her Frankie Bridge?
- 17:27Yes, I had a haircut. And me.
- 17:29I think we all did at some point.
- 17:31If you're in your 30s, you definitely have that Hagger.
- 17:35Absolutely love that song. I am, I've just also had a
- 17:39thought as well and I'm sorry I'm going to say it, but that's
- 17:41my like sad slow song. That's my favourite.
- 17:44But up there is sorry he's not good enough.
- 17:47Oh my God, like I love it. Yeah, I love it.
- 17:51It's a belter. You just felt to it.
- 17:53Such a belter, so good. It's time for Quote Corner.
- 18:00This is a section of the show where we find quotes from the
- 18:02band and discuss. Now, Tasha, as you're the guest
- 18:06today, we're going to let you go first, putting you, you know,
- 18:09right on the batter plank. What quote did you find for us
- 18:14this week and who is it from? I found a quote from Obviously
- 18:17Danny and he says I'm basically like a golden retriever with a
- 18:21guitar. And you know what?
- 18:23That's pretty much what it says on my Tinder profile, what I'm
- 18:26looking for. I mean a guitar.
- 18:31Player and a golden retriever or one that's like a golden roover.
- 18:35Both guitar guitar player with a golden retriever as I would
- 18:38agree. So yeah, that is, that's my,
- 18:41that's my quote for today. And you can sort of hear how
- 18:43he's going to say it, can't you like?
- 18:46In his voice. So anybody out there that's
- 18:49listening if you're a guitar player who's also a golden
- 18:52retriever? Yeah, my number is.
- 18:57I love it. I love it.
- 18:58Go on then. Shan, what's your quote?
- 19:00OK, so my quote today kind of mirrors yours from last week a
- 19:03little. I think it's from our number one
- 19:05drummer Harry Judd himself. And it goes, I'm joking and it
- 19:14goes. Dougie was very excited today
- 19:17because we figured out a really good post show cool down,
- 19:21lighting a candle, having a shower, getting into some
- 19:24comfies and then having some healthy food.
- 19:27And I can assure you it is very rock'n'roll.
- 19:30Few people go for drinks post show but we just go straight to
- 19:33bed. There's.
- 19:35Not really a huge amount to reflect on on it, I just thought
- 19:38it was very awesome, very relatable, and very McFly.
- 19:41Do you know what's really funny is I'm gonna dobber in now.
- 19:45Tash actually messaged me earlier and said, are we
- 19:48videoing this podcast because I'm coming over in my pyjamas if
- 19:50we aren't. And I said no, no, we're not
- 19:52doing video yet because we're in our 30s and I am wearing my
- 19:56joggers right now. That's just what happens when I
- 19:59get home from a long, stressful day.
- 20:00The pyjamas go on. Absolutely.
- 20:02I'm not sure I'm eating the healthy food.
- 20:04I mean, occasionally there's healthy food, but there is a
- 20:06ginormous pack of chocolate hobnobs next to us at the
- 20:08moment, which I. Put my day but lighting a
- 20:11candle, having a shower, getting into some comfies.
- 20:14Love that. Absolutely.
- 20:15It was the whole, it was the whole a few people go for
- 20:18drinks, best show, but we just go straight to bed and honestly
- 20:20it's such a vibe. My quote this week is from the
- 20:24only man in the world that can wear dungarees shirtless every
- 20:26single night and pull it off enormously.
- 20:29It's Mr Dougie Pointer and his quote.
- 20:32I just thought it was hilarious. My brain begins to work stuff
- 20:35out, but then kind of halfway through it starts wandering off
- 20:38and it's like, ah, unicorns. OK, relatable as well.
- 20:42We're all very. Honestly I mean if this is not
- 20:45me after having a baby I don't know what is.
- 20:47I genuinely am so happy that it's not just me that does this.
- 20:49I go to do 1 specific thing and I don't know whether this is the
- 20:53girl thing or a middle-aged thing or a mum thing, but I can
- 20:57go into the kitchen with in my head, right?
- 20:59I'm going to make myself a sandwich.
- 21:01OK, so I go to the kitchen and I get the bread out and I go to
- 21:04the fridge to get the butter and I notice that there's a
- 21:07Tupperware in there with food that probably needs to go in the
- 21:09bin. So instead of getting the butter
- 21:11out, I get the food out and I put it in the bin.
- 21:12Then I go to the bin and I realise that the bin's full.
- 21:14So I take the bin out and I come back in, put a new bin bag in
- 21:17the bin. And then I look at the dog's
- 21:18water bowl. I think oh, he's not got enough
- 21:19water. And then I've lost my train of
- 21:21thought and it's 2 hours later and I haven't made.
- 21:24Myself a sandwich because. It's just me.
- 21:27Do you guys do this too? No, I can't.
- 21:29I can't tell you that you're wrong in what you've just said
- 21:32because I am also a mum in her 30s and a female and all of
- 21:37those things happen to me. Oh, thank God.
- 21:38I am not a mum, however I am exactly the same.
- 21:42Good. So it might just be a girl
- 21:43thing. A girl in the 30s thing, yeah.
- 21:47I don't know. I think, I think it gets
- 21:48different, like at different times of the month.
- 21:51It's worse on my good week, it's great.
- 21:54I'm fine. I can do.
- 21:55I can literally take over the world on my good all at once.
- 21:57Yeah, literally. But the other 3 1/2 weeks, yeah,
- 22:00don't bother, no. No, totally get him.
- 22:03Don't come near me. So tour talk is going to be a
- 22:07little bit different this week because as you all know, the
- 22:09Busted versus McFly tour has officially ended.
- 22:13It. Ended three days, I think it was
- 22:173 days before we are recording this episode.
- 22:20But by the time you guys listen to this, obviously it's going to
- 22:22be a good week and a half away. So it's still super fresh for us
- 22:26and we thought that last week we would revisit some of the times
- 22:28that we've all seen the boys live.
- 22:32So Tasha didn't actually get a chance to go to this tour, did
- 22:34you? No, don't want to talk about.
- 22:37This is the podcast What this is For.
- 22:40No, I didn't. I honestly, I don't actually
- 22:43know why. I think I just missed the
- 22:46opportunity to get tickets. And it's also just like finding
- 22:51time to get off work and obviously living down in
- 22:54Cornwall, travelling. So if they listen to this and
- 22:56want to do a show in Cornwall. That'd be great honestly.
- 22:59Cardiff is too far. Cardiff is.
- 23:01So. That was their closest arena 4
- 23:031/2 hours away. Ridiculous.
- 23:04I keep saying we are the toe of the country, literally are, but
- 23:08just don't forget about us. Plymouth isn't that far.
- 23:11I can do Plymouth. I know it's any.
- 23:12Small Plymouth. We are a beautiful, I know.
- 23:14Beautiful. Toe I know we are.
- 23:16We are. And not only that, but I know
- 23:19for a fact Tom and his family stay in Cornwall and down the
- 23:24road they stay in Cornwall, they stay in Gwythian, which is less
- 23:27than a mile from our house. So Tom will meet you at the Red
- 23:30Ribbon next time, Pint. I wanna know where they stay.
- 23:33I bet they stay in those really nice houses at the top of the,
- 23:35you know, where the car park is. Yeah, they is.
- 23:37Really. Is that what they say?
- 23:38Yeah. I thought, yeah, I generally.
- 23:40Can't remember what it's called. I don't know, but every time I
- 23:42drive past it, I'm like, bet you any money that's where they stay
- 23:44'cause it's lush and it's that you can walk the beach and
- 23:48James, you do have tunes. And the Junes though?
- 23:50I don't know. Yeah, we do.
- 23:51We do. They've been twice.
- 23:54You were in Canada? I was.
- 23:55Flying to Canada when they were at jeans and the jeans, What?
- 23:58I mean, how terrible? Like that is the worst timing
- 24:00ever, isn't it? So.
- 24:01Sad, so sad and I I didn't go because I had just had Molly at
- 24:04that point. That was the summer that Molly
- 24:06was born. So missed out on that.
- 24:08But doesn't mean to say they won't be back.
- 24:10Fingers crossed. But you know, I think it is sad
- 24:14that they don't come down this far.
- 24:15But you know, sometimes pitching in for a four and a half hour
- 24:17drive and we've already decided, Tash e-mail told me earlier.
- 24:21Emailed. Lol how old are we?
- 24:23It wasn't an e-mail. I just went.
- 24:25Carrier pigeon earlier. This is my this is my late
- 24:29brain. Tash whatsapped me earlier a
- 24:32picture of the the new dates for summer tour next year and me and
- 24:37Charlene did exactly the same thing.
- 24:38So obviously we're going to be going to see them once at least
- 24:43once next year. And you know what we've said so
- 24:45many times this this tour, why did we only book one day?
- 24:48I'm absolutely human because we've spoken to so many people
- 24:50that have been so many times and like they repeatedly go.
- 24:55And I was speaking to a girl the other day who's been quite a few
- 24:57times and she said they were queuing at 4:00 AM.
- 25:00She was #1 in the queue. So fair play.
- 25:03But 4:00 AM, I was like, I don't know whether I've got 4:00 AM in
- 25:05there, maybe like 7:00 AM, but 4:00 AM it's just.
- 25:10Really. But I used to be that person
- 25:11that would go to like many a show, many a tour like I would,
- 25:17there would be 1 tour and I'd go to like 5 or 6 shows.
- 25:20And it was so fun and I do miss doing it so much.
- 25:24Like like you say, when we've been to 1 show, we we're always
- 25:26like, why haven't we booked another?
- 25:28Why haven't? We booked another.
- 25:30But it's just like logistically fitting in more than one.
- 25:34It's not even cost. It's not really distance.
- 25:36It's like fitting it around work, fitting it around
- 25:40childcare, fitting it around travel, fitting it in around
- 25:44like, you know, just like life, everything.
- 25:46It's so hard, so hard to just like, especially like working in
- 25:51a school. How often are they going to do
- 25:54weekends? They're not.
- 25:55And that's really annoying because also when the weekend
- 25:58dates go online, they sell out so fast because people are
- 26:02working, so they can't. I also feel like as well, if you
- 26:05go in in the week, you need a day off to recover because like
- 26:09by the time you get back, you're buzzing, you want to talk about
- 26:12it and then like the next day you want to sit at home and
- 26:15listen to their music. Again, also if you are
- 26:17travelling, if you're travelling 4 hours, you need the whole day
- 26:20off the next day because you need to get home.
- 26:22So that doesn't work either. Have you seen a lot of the tour
- 26:25online? Have you like, do you have any
- 26:27idea of like how it went and sort of the things?
- 26:30I'm a little bit bitter because I didn't know so some of it I
- 26:35just scroll past because it makes me sad.
- 26:37But Oh my God, Tasha, have you not seen the Danny and Charlie
- 26:40duet? I have.
- 26:42Amazing. OK.
- 26:43She did. She did that.
- 26:44I keep you can't scroll past. That I keep seeing people being
- 26:46like petition to release this and.
- 26:49Yeah. Both incredible voices, aren't
- 26:51they? But I actually thoroughly
- 26:53enjoyed the Ghostbusters song that.
- 26:56That. Was very lucky to be at that
- 26:58date. But they were like with Dougie
- 27:01dressed as Alpha Bar and I'll just.
- 27:04Walk on a break. So Shannon mentally rang me and
- 27:06she just went Chris Bone is dressed up as the guy from the
- 27:10year 3000 video. And then she went Oh my God,
- 27:13Dougie's and I was just getting all of these and it all like
- 27:16clips of her just screaming down the phone at me.
- 27:19Oh my God, oh so good. It looked really good.
- 27:23I think my favourite tour moments were definitely the
- 27:27Mcbusted set was just unreal. Did you go to the Mcbusted?
- 27:30Did you go to Mcbusted? Yeah.
- 27:32Did you go to Cardiff? No, I think I was in.
- 27:35Like I'm talking or something. Yeah the Mcbusted set was, it
- 27:40was so good, it just wasn't long enough.
- 27:41They needed to have done more. 2 songs was not good enough but it
- 27:45was absolutely phenomenal and two songs that they did do and I
- 27:47was just screaming my head off the whole time.
- 27:50What Happened to Your band is my favourite MOC Busted song
- 27:53because it was a James Bond song originally.
- 27:55So I've heard James Bond do it, I've had Busted do it and Son of
- 27:59Dork did it as well in New York when they were doing their live
- 28:03sessions in New York. So seeing them like come
- 28:05together, like all together, it was just lush to see that and
- 28:08the stars because that's the best thing ever.
- 28:12It's nice to see Charlie sing Look what?
- 28:16Happened to your band. Yeah.
- 28:17Yeah, definitely. It adds another level.
- 28:20I'm almost a little bit bitter about it, though.
- 28:22I'm sorry, Charlie. I forgive you.
- 28:24I really do. I really do forgive you.
- 28:26But I feel like you're not allowed to sing that song.
- 28:30You're what happened to my band. You are what happened to my.
- 28:34Band. Oh, it's nice that they're all
- 28:35friends. Again.
- 28:36Oh yeah, they love me. And three AM, 3:00 AM and the
- 28:40star girl kicks. Star girl kicks just make me
- 28:42happy. Every time they pop up on my
- 28:44timeline, I'm just like, yes, yeah.
- 28:46You've got to watch it. That takes some serious skill.
- 28:48Doesn't it? It really does like and they've
- 28:50got like videos of people trying to do it outside and I'm just
- 28:52looking at them like, you're not doing it right, you are not
- 28:54doing it, ruining it, ruining it.
- 28:56What about you Shan? Favourite tour moments?
- 29:00Danny, Danny, Charlie, do you at 100%?
- 29:03Definitely I it was the perfect time for me to sit down because
- 29:07I was about to get a nose bleed. But also like visually and like
- 29:15obviously vocally just absolutely outstanding.
- 29:18Phenomenal, phenomenal. I hate your guts.
- 29:21Hate your guts. Sorry.
- 29:24Phenomenal that, but specifically the banter.
- 29:29Yeah, have you seen the staging of Hey, You'll get a smash.
- 29:32No, I. Haven't.
- 29:33I'll say Dougie. Dougie and Matt come into the
- 29:36audience and they stand like on like a high.
- 29:39I've seen it like shout and like the whole thing is them just
- 29:43shouting pure hatred at each other.
- 29:45I think it's the best because there's no hatred there.
- 29:48What's so funny? They're just so good at, like,
- 29:51they've been pinned against each other like by the media so many
- 29:54times. They were pinned against each
- 29:56other by me when McFly first came out.
- 29:58Oh my God, they want to be busted.
- 29:59Yeah, we were totally on that waggon.
- 30:03Who are these boys? Why are they trying to take
- 30:05over? I loved all the like, the
- 30:09slagging each other off. I was there.
- 30:11I love both bands so equally, but just them slag like Matt
- 30:16coming out and saying we were going to ask one of Busted to
- 30:21step in to be James, but James was like, absolutely not.
- 30:25I'd rather have Jedward like that was so funny.
- 30:28And then he, Oh my God, can. You imagine if Jedward came out?
- 30:31Oh my. God and the fact that he was
- 30:34like Pete, we call them PG Busted.
- 30:37I just thought it was so funny. Just the band 2 bands were
- 30:40amazing. He also enjoyed the Matt sucks
- 30:44Matt Sucks Chan and the Doggy's got a small Dick.
- 30:49Yeah, so they did. So when I was there, they did,
- 30:53they did it. But they did like magic wands
- 30:55because they were the witches. And Dougie, like, flicked his
- 30:59wand and Matt's mic went like, really?
- 31:02High. Pitched Yeah, I've seen that
- 31:04idea. So.
- 31:06And he didn't know it was going to happen, did he?
- 31:08Like he looked really shocked. Yeah, the whole do you know
- 31:11what? It's so nice because like the
- 31:12whole of the O2 were like roaring with laughter.
- 31:15Yeah, like it wasn't just singing, do you know what I
- 31:18mean? It was like we were all just
- 31:19like pissing. This is like what I love about
- 31:21them. They're just so they are.
- 31:23They're just good stage performers.
- 31:26Their stage presence is unreal and like if you're at the front,
- 31:29they make eye contact with you and they make you.
- 31:32You're the only person that you're.
- 31:33Like on the eye contact? It's so good.
- 31:35It's so funny because it's, it's not just like a few of us that
- 31:39feel that way as every single person in the audience is like
- 31:42waiting for them to. And even if they don't look at
- 31:44you, they might be looking at someone behind you.
- 31:46You're like, the heck to me. They looked at me.
- 31:47Oh, we're going to look to me. But it's.
- 31:49Not even the girls though. Either they were just.
- 31:51Doing it, yeah, yeah, Tom kept going back to.
- 31:55Us were like. In the side side pit.
- 31:58The girls next to us were like, bearing in mind we're like the
- 32:01top of the top of the top of the O2 and at the back the girls
- 32:04next to us were like, we've shaved just in case.
- 32:09You have to. I've seen no one knows what's
- 32:11going to happen. He doesn't know, but I've shaved
- 32:14just in case. He's so good, so good.
- 32:17The first time I ever saw that being used on a rear was a Young
- 32:21Blood concert and I was like, oh.
- 32:23There we go. It's every time we go and see a
- 32:26band or. Anything like that?
- 32:27It's so. 12 hours getting ready. Yeah, my body for you.
- 32:33And the other thing that I loved is the heart never lies.
- 32:36I can't know the best. I have a tattooed on my body.
- 32:39I can't not love that. There's no 100%.
- 32:42It's Mcflyerty for breath. But it makes you crying every
- 32:46time. I'm like welling up.
- 32:47But I was with Steve and his friend Terry.
- 32:49And like, I've met Terry a few times.
- 32:51She's so lovely, but she's never seen me like in my element
- 32:55before. She's only met me like a few
- 32:57parties and things and I was just bawling at that moment,
- 33:01just literally crying my eyes out.
- 33:02It was amazing. So many memorable moments from
- 33:06that tour that I think we will all remember apart from you.
- 33:09She didn't go, but you know, if you can live vicariously through
- 33:12US. Sorry.
- 33:14However, I was saying to somebody on TikTok earlier, they
- 33:18have to do this again. I know they're saying like, oh,
- 33:20it's the end of the saga and all that there.
- 33:23There's no way James Bourne is going to let if he gets better.
- 33:26I'm not saying if when he gets better, when he gets better,
- 33:29there is no way on earth he is not going to want to have his
- 33:32say when it comes to busted versus at 5 I'm.
- 33:35Going to say Wembley. Wembley, yeah, I wake up Wembley
- 33:39okay, where it is, when it is we are going, we'll have to just
- 33:43all pitch in together. We'll stay in like a really room
- 33:46on the 3rd floor hotel. Yeah, absolutely.
- 33:49Yeah, Apt. This week we are revisiting the
- 33:55We Are Family segment. If you're new here, this is a
- 33:59section of the podcast where we talk about the family members of
- 34:01the band and what they have been up to.
- 34:03Last time we spent ages talking about Carrie Hope Fletcher, so
- 34:07much so that Tea had to cut about 15 minutes of chat.
- 34:10So this week we're moving over to the busted side of things.
- 34:14Yes, now as you all know, the one and only Mr. James Bourne is
- 34:18unfortunately a very poorly right now and on his tour on
- 34:22tour, sorry, his place was filled by his little brother
- 34:24Chris Bourne. So we thought this week we
- 34:27should talk a little bit about this wonderful human and his
- 34:30story. Tash, do you know who Chris
- 34:32Bourne is or where you might have seen him before?
- 34:34Not a clue. Please tell me you know you
- 34:37obviously. Know, I do know.
- 34:37You obviously know he's his brother.
- 34:39Yeah, and I got, I, I've got it up so that we can just have a
- 34:43look at him. Oh my God, soaking.
- 34:45I'm sorry. That is just a door.
- 34:46So obviously we're not on video for this podcast, but I'm
- 34:49showing Tasha right now a picture of Chris Bourne in the
- 34:52year 3000 video with his white lab coat, his little bow tie and
- 34:57his bleach blonde hair and his geeky glasses.
- 35:00Shamon, do you want to tell everybody what Chris Borne's
- 35:02Halloween costume was in the? Area yeah, he dressed up as that
- 35:07kid from the 3000 music video and it's so funny because you
- 35:10could tell the like the partners of the real fans and like in the
- 35:16in the audience because there are people that are like what
- 35:18was he dressed up as like what was.
- 35:20He dressed up as from. From like the.
- 35:23Future. And then there were other people
- 35:26that were like, oh, my God, he's dressed up as the kid from year
- 35:283000. Yeah.
- 35:29Which is him? So which?
- 35:31Is him, yeah, yeah. He also Co wrote some songs with
- 35:36James for Five Seconds of Summer.
- 35:39He released a song called Music from the 80s in 2016 and him and
- 35:44James also released a song together called Mohawk under the
- 35:49band name The Born Insanity which is actually bizarre name.
- 35:53Didn't know this. Yeah, I listened to the first
- 35:56time tonight. I knew about music from the 80s
- 35:59and I knew about the five seconds of summer writing, but I
- 36:01did not know this. How cool, I was going to listen.
- 36:03It's it's pretty, it's actually very good.
- 36:06It's like really chill vibes. Like think solo James, like
- 36:12Future Boy. It's very, very good.
- 36:15I love that as a family full of talent.
- 36:18And you know what is not even just the borns that they all
- 36:22have. So like and This is why we added
- 36:24the We are family like section of the broadcast because there's
- 36:27always someone to talk about like Tom's family.
- 36:30The hands down are just all of them just do something and
- 36:33they're all performers or writers or, you know, they do
- 36:35music or whatever. And then, you know, you've got
- 36:37Emma Willis, like Matt and Emma just amazing icons.
- 36:41Yeah, exactly. And then you've got Georgia he's
- 36:44doing so much work with at the moment.
- 36:46And Izzy like they do so much charity work and things like
- 36:49that as well. Like, and they've all got there
- 36:50at some. I think George is doing work
- 36:52with Marks and Spencer's at the moment where she's doing like a
- 36:54clothes. Is it like some sort of clothing
- 36:57line? I've I've been reading about it
- 36:59and I'm sure they'll they'll all come up on this segment
- 37:01eventually, but. That's Harry and G are currently
- 37:03on their Copperfield track across.
- 37:05I can't remember where they're tracking but it's like a 100
- 37:08mile track or something. Massive, absolutely amazing.
- 37:12And I just thought this this section is just nice to add in
- 37:15and talk a little bit about them.
- 37:16But yeah, Chris, Chris born stepped in obviously to fill
- 37:20James's shoes, which is so nice. Another thing I found out about
- 37:25Chris Tash is that he's also a fellow van lifer.
- 37:29How? Old is he?
- 37:30He's 20. I don't know.
- 37:33He's, he's, I mean, he's a bit younger than us.
- 37:37Oh well, yeah. I think he's mid 20s, maybe a
- 37:40little bit older, but on his actual Instagram page he's got a
- 37:42highlight called The Van Life and I literally was stalking him
- 37:45earlier and he's, he's yeah, so cute.
- 37:48And he spends so much time in Cornwall.
- 37:50Really all of his pictures, I'm like, that's Cornwall I.
- 37:52Don't think I would recognise him though.
- 37:55Do you know what I mean? Do you know what?
- 37:56I feel like I need to Google a picture of him because I was on
- 38:00his Instagram earlier and I didn't realise how attractive he
- 38:05is with the long hair. It is so funny.
- 38:08So on tour when he came out on stage and everyone started
- 38:11screaming, Matt went, huh, bad time to have a girlfriend right
- 38:15now, isn't it? So all the girls from the
- 38:18audience are screaming. So he looks like I'm showing
- 38:20Tash pictures at the moment. He looks like he's got short
- 38:23hair at the moment. So he looks a bit more like
- 38:25this. But when I came, Shannon, I'm
- 38:28going to turn you around so you can see this picture of him
- 38:30because I think he will also appreciate this picture.
- 38:32Can you see? It's like a slightly.
- 38:34Clean, I don't know where, literally I like.
- 38:37And I was sexy, clean tar. We we spoke to Chris.
- 38:40Like we were having a lot of interaction with Chris when we
- 38:43watched. And I took a lot of photos of
- 38:45him and like, we were properly screaming at him.
- 38:48Yeah. And there's so many pictures of
- 38:49him with James and it's so adorable.
- 38:50Look at this one. But yeah, him with Chris born
- 38:54with long hair, guys who knew it, Please, if you haven't seen
- 38:56him, please go and Google it right now because he will not.
- 38:59Honestly, he will not regret it. Yeah.
- 39:02Fellow van lifer. Obviously, me and Tash both had
- 39:05a van at some point. Sad face.
- 39:06If not, we don't. I don't have them anymore.
- 39:08Shan, I wondered whether you've ever thought about living the
- 39:11van life. I know you've got kids and
- 39:13stuff, but if you if it was feasible for you, is it
- 39:15something that you would like to do?
- 39:17We actually genuinely thought about it at one point.
- 39:21But yeah, when me and Bradley got together, we were like very
- 39:26pregnant, very soon, so. It's.
- 39:28Never been. It's never really been a
- 39:33something in our future, but it is one of those things that you
- 39:36think, ohh, when the kids are all grown up and.
- 39:39Moved and we're old and we're retired and.
- 39:42Yeah, it is. It is one of those things like
- 39:44like the VAT, but maybe not like like your your two vans were
- 39:49very I'm I'm thinking more you. Want an RV?
- 39:52'S caravan. Yeah, like literally yeah.
- 39:54Like touch. And you want an RV, like
- 39:56something you can properly live in on the road and just go,
- 39:59yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I loved your vans, but I
- 40:02don't think 90 year old me will love your vans.
- 40:06Not the big step to get into the transit.
- 40:07You touch a slow roof. You couldn't.
- 40:09Stand up in mine. No, that was one thing about
- 40:11mine that was good. You could stand up in it.
- 40:13But if I had the money, I would get a really posh one.
- 40:16Yeah, I would just bugger off. It's time for Song of the Week.
- 40:24Thank you for introducing our main segment like a pro.
- 40:29This week's song is Room on the 3rd Floor, which was written by
- 40:34Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, with occasional songwriting
- 40:37contributions from the other band members, Harry and Dougie
- 40:40and Busted's James Bourne. As we know, James has chimed in
- 40:44on a few of the McFly songs over the years.
- 40:47This song was released as a single in November 15th, 2004,
- 40:51and the album was released earlier that year.
- 40:54So we know from listening to this song that it's obviously
- 40:58telling a story and it's pretty obvious what it's about, but
- 41:01does anybody know the actual story behind this?
- 41:04Wasn't it like one of the first places that they stayed or
- 41:07something as a band and then. Yeah, they were like writing
- 41:11their album in a hotel. They wrote.
- 41:13Yeah, it was. It was actually the the
- 41:16Intercontinental in London and they were staying in room 363
- 41:20and they were finding it very tedious because they had to stay
- 41:24there for I think they said they were there for like 3 or 4
- 41:25months. They were literally staying like
- 41:27in the same hotel room for that long and they were just writing
- 41:31about their experiences and like how, you know, all the things
- 41:34that they went through while they were there and turned it
- 41:36into this amazing song. And apparently they had a really
- 41:40annoying room service maid, which is they when they write
- 41:43about the do not disturb sign being on on the door on the
- 41:46floor and. Imagine being that maid.
- 41:50Yeah, but at the time it was 2004, nobody knew who they were.
- 41:53They were just like, now for. Yeah, For dweevy little guys.
- 41:57Yeah, but I think that about Busted.
- 41:58Imagine being Miss McKenzie. Yeah.
- 42:00Oh my God, yeah. We've covered that story,
- 42:02haven't we, Shan? On Episode 2, I think it was
- 42:04about the real life Miss McKenzie.
- 42:06But I'd love imagine somebody writing a song about you and
- 42:09then it being Matt Busted. Yeah.
- 42:13So in this section of the podcast, what we normally do to
- 42:16hush is we rate our song out of 10.
- 42:19We explain why we've given it, the rating that we've given it,
- 42:22and we usually try and talk about the things that we like
- 42:24about the song, things that we don't like about the song, and
- 42:26sort of obviously give the reasons for our rating.
- 42:29Shan, do you want to go first? Normally I have thought about it
- 42:33and I haven't. So off the cuff today, off the
- 42:39cuff I would say I would probably give it don't hate me 5
- 42:45out of 10. She said I hate.
- 42:47She literally says this every week.
- 42:48Don't hate me, don't hate me, don't hate me.
- 42:51But yeah. She also said 5 colours in her
- 42:54hair is a skip song. I actually agreed with her.
- 42:56Yeah, we discussed that. Okay with you guys.
- 42:59I'm not sure I can carry you. Gotta be in the mood for five
- 43:01colours. Yeah, true.
- 43:02It's. Not a 5 out of 10 because it's a
- 43:04bad song, it's a 5 out of 10 because there's so many better
- 43:07songs. And.
- 43:08Even not even like not I'm not even saying newer, but like on
- 43:12this album, it would probably be in my bottom half of the album
- 43:16because there's so many good songs on this album as well.
- 43:19It's not even about like. This is why it's really tricky
- 43:22when you're doing like the songs in order, because we're starting
- 43:25from so early on as well and there are so many more songs to
- 43:28come that you almost like lower rank because you know what's
- 43:32coming. Yeah, but it's.
- 43:33Progression. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 43:35Go then Tash, give us your ratings out of 10.
- 43:38I'm going to go for a solid 7. Right.
- 43:42I really like, it's one of those songs that I do skip, but I love
- 43:48it. And I feel like, yeah.
- 43:51And I feel like they still play it at their tours occasionally.
- 43:56And I think it's one of those songs where you like, they still
- 44:00play it now. This far on with all their good
- 44:03songs that they've got, they still play it.
- 44:05And I think it's such a nice little touch that they remember
- 44:07where they've come from. And like with all the like, your
- 44:12X Factor and the voice and whatever, like, I think it just
- 44:15goes to show that they were so raw and done it all themselves.
- 44:19And I think it's just a little reminder that they done that.
- 44:23And like when you listen. Yeah.
- 44:26And when you listen to the lyrics, like they are such good
- 44:28lyrics. Yeah, they're clever.
- 44:29And like, yeah, it is a bit of one of those songs where it's a
- 44:32little bit boring and you're like, oh, just want to listen to
- 44:34Stargirl or something a little bit more upbeat.
- 44:36But I think it's just cleverly written.
- 44:39And it does. You can definitely see the James
- 44:42born in there as well. Oh yeah, definitely.
- 44:45I think it's such a visual song, like I can see the storyline
- 44:49playing out in my head. Literally I've said the exact
- 44:52same thing. Yeah, you can see them sitting
- 44:53there, can't you? On a, didn't you?
- 44:54Can you can't close and we we go on to talk about the music video
- 44:58a little bit later on in this episode, so we won't give too
- 45:00much away. But I I agree, I agree with Tash
- 45:06more than you shall. I think it's definitely more of
- 45:08a 7 on my on my rating scale because I don't often skip this
- 45:13song. I do love it because I if I do
- 45:15skip it when it does come on and I like wait it out, I always
- 45:20love listening to it, but sometimes I hear the beginning
- 45:24and I'm like, OK, I'm really in am I in this mood?
- 45:28Like, but there's there's songs like that with every artist you
- 45:31know, and it doesn't mean you don't like the song.
- 45:33It's just depends on the mood you're in.
- 45:35But more often than not I will listen to it.
- 45:37And then by the na na, na, na, na, I'm laughing in the car and
- 45:42I'm like screaming at the top of my legs doing every part.
- 45:48Paul Molly is in the back like looking at me like what the hell
- 45:51is going on? Mum, why are we not listening to
- 45:53Miss Rachel? Thank you very much.
- 45:55Mummy's time. Yeah, sorry.
- 45:57In the car we listen to Mummy's music.
- 46:00But yeah, I, I agree. I think it's a solid 7 out of
- 46:0210. I think there are definitely
- 46:04better songs, but I think the way I feel and the things I see
- 46:09and like I'm hearing it live. Like we've talked so many times,
- 46:11like the last few songs we've done, we vote, we've like rated
- 46:15it like what you what it is when you listen to it in the car or
- 46:18on your headphones or whatever. And then what it is like when
- 46:21you listen. Yeah.
- 46:22When it's live, like you said, like with five colours, it was
- 46:25like, well, didn't you rate it like a four or something or A5?
- 46:28That's quite low. Yeah.
- 46:29And then it was like a 10 live because you cannot, you can't
- 46:33not like that song when it's live.
- 46:34It's. The complete we love.
- 46:36The originals we love. Them oh so good, so good.
- 46:41First up then, let's enter the Lyric lab.
- 46:44So it's not the most loved song from this album by fans and I
- 46:48know a lot of people that do skip it and obviously we've
- 46:50given our ratings as well. However, I do really love it and
- 46:53I think it's for me because it's a storytelling song.
- 46:56And Shan, you just said that in our last section.
- 46:59It makes you picture it in your head when they're singing it and
- 47:04it sounds really funny, but it actually reminds me of like all
- 47:07the really dodgy hotels and like Airbnb's I've stayed in and I
- 47:11almost like think about those when I hear the song.
- 47:14When we went to Cardiff, Shandy, remember we stayed in an Airbnb
- 47:17in Cardiff and it was awful. With Tamara, can you remember
- 47:21you slept on the sofa bed and the sofa bed was diabolic?
- 47:25Broken and Tamara's bed had a pin in the middle of.
- 47:29It it like it was the spring and it had come up.
- 47:32Through the monstrous and. She got in the bed and it like
- 47:34scratched all the leg and she was.
- 47:35Like, oh, she didn't. Get that it was disgusting and
- 47:37obviously there's A1 bed is broken.
- 47:40Every time I hear that line, I picture you on that sofa bed
- 47:43like it's coming apart. Yeah.
- 47:46It was. It was awful.
- 47:47Literally I yeah, I love, I love the memories that I get with it.
- 47:52I love, like the picture that I get in my head.
- 47:54I think my favourite lyric in this one is the, and outside
- 47:58it's raining and the guests upstairs complaining.
- 48:01I just love like the, it's almost like a little head
- 48:04banging moment. And then he says about the room
- 48:07that's got their TV too loud. And I just wanted to say it's
- 48:10very relatable because I'm that person.
- 48:12I'm the one that goes down to reception and says excuse me,
- 48:16but the room next door to mine is being very loud and I'm
- 48:18trying to sleep because has the TV and you know what?
- 48:21I nearly wrote this down. Tasha nearly wrote down and
- 48:24Tasha is the opposite. Tasha is the one with the TV on
- 48:27listening. To room on the first floor.
- 48:29But The thing is with she's very respectable.
- 48:31When she's had parties in the past, she does always say, just
- 48:34to let you know, I'm having a few people over this evening.
- 48:37If we're too loud, just tell me. Tell me and I'll ignore you.
- 48:40Yeah, I don't have to tell you. I don't think once when people.
- 48:44Because you're invited. Yeah, well I am invited by more
- 48:47so not a party person, so usually I stay for an hour and
- 48:50then I go home just to show my face.
- 48:52But yeah, I like that. I like that section.
- 48:55I think that that bits quite fun.
- 48:58What about you? Either of you got any bits of
- 49:00that song lyrically? Talking of the lyrics in
- 49:03general, the and going back to like the whole James Bourne
- 49:06influence, I think this storytelling aspect of it is so
- 49:10James Bond. If you think of other songs he's
- 49:12written, even like I think we said about it the other day, his
- 49:15son of Dork songs, Yeah, like everything he writes is so like
- 49:19story driven. Yeah, it is.
- 49:22I you can just, like, visualise everything he's saying, even if
- 49:26you think it's a 5 out of 10 like I do.
- 49:29Yeah, yeah. And there's no way you can't
- 49:32enjoy the lyrics even if the song isn't doesn't hit as hard
- 49:36as the others. 100 percent, 100%, I think it's like.
- 49:39The sorry I. Was just going to say I think
- 49:41like our, our like generation of songwriters are very lyrically
- 49:47like story based lyricists, if that makes sense.
- 49:50Like we've spoken before about our love for Miss miss Taylor
- 49:54Swift. And finally, we're pulling,
- 49:56we're pulling Tasha on board on the the Taylor Swift train.
- 49:59Thanks to the summer I turn pretty, which I'm sorry if you
- 50:03haven't watched that, you will. Shall we start another?
- 50:05Yeah, you'll watch. Shall I start one?
- 50:07And we literally said the other week, we're like, we need to
- 50:09stop talking about this now because it's going to turn into
- 50:11something else. But again, it's the lyricism
- 50:14behind it. They are storytellers.
- 50:15And then, and I think our generation like that, I think we
- 50:18come from, you know, we grew up in, in an age where we were
- 50:23outside all the time and we were, you know, climbing trees
- 50:26and outside having fun and all of these things.
- 50:28But we've also grown up with like technology and, and like
- 50:33had to deal with the pressures of social media and all that.
- 50:36So, like, I think we've experienced so much that we do
- 50:40almost have to tell a story about our lives and what we've
- 50:43been through and things. And definitely a James Bond
- 50:46thing 100. Percent, 100%.
- 50:48What's the son of Dork song where he's talking about Party's
- 50:52Over? Can you remember that one?
- 50:54I just watched my girlfriend get laid on the sofa.
- 50:59Does that seem weird to you? I know there.
- 51:04Does actually that whole story, that whole song tells the story
- 51:07about what happened at this party and how he feels about it,
- 51:10and that's very similar to to this, definitely.
- 51:13I think that's one thing that gets overlooked.
- 51:15You know, like when you do tell people that you're a McFly.
- 51:18Oh God, I'm 100. Percent and they're like Oh my
- 51:20God, but you're like yes, but what you obviously like you just
- 51:23don't appreciate that they've written all those they pay all
- 51:26their own instruments like you listen to some of the songs
- 51:29that. Haven't been released.
- 51:30You listen to Five Colours in In Her Hair and Star Girl and Yeah.
- 51:34But I'm like, I will always be right about this.
- 51:36Just open your ears. And listen, yeah, you will never
- 51:39win this conversation. Also, you know it's true because
- 51:43Danny and Charlie both won the Masked Singer when?
- 51:46No, when they weren't singing McFly.
- 51:47Song video Who they were. Bastard songs because they have
- 51:51a reputation for being a boy band or yeah, fun band, do you
- 51:55know what I mean? Like, yeah, serious and people
- 51:57don't take them serious lyrically or talently because of
- 52:03the hits they bring out. It's like to bring her up again.
- 52:06Taylor Swift, people like my partner included know Shake It
- 52:10Off and I have trouble and they think that she's yeah because of
- 52:17those songs. But actually, if you actually
- 52:18deep dived, not that you would because you're not a fan, but if
- 52:22you did deep dive, you'd realise that.
- 52:24Yeah, exactly. I think that's what I can do is
- 52:27like you heard on on the TV programme, we heard some
- 52:30different sides to Taylor Swift and I came in, I literally
- 52:33walked into Tasha's house and dress was playing and I was
- 52:35like. Oh my God, so fast song it.
- 52:38Just means I mean it paired paired with the scene.
- 52:41Oh. So good.
- 52:42I still think about that, and I watched it ages ago.
- 52:44I think we all do. I don't think.
- 52:46That I don't think any of us are ever getting over that.
- 52:48Anyway, moving on. OK, I think it's probably time
- 52:54that we move on to talk about the music video.
- 52:58So let's move on to All Eyes on McFly.
- 53:00This is the section of the podcast where we talk about
- 53:02music videos that go along with these songs.
- 53:04What on earth were they thinking when they made this music video
- 53:08just put now? I think someone just couldn't be
- 53:11bothered, could they? They're like, here we go.
- 53:13Small budget, guys, Very, very small budget, yeah.
- 53:17Yeah, I think it was like we are trending, we need to get a video
- 53:21out. What can we do?
- 53:23Also. They were like this.
- 53:25They've done such a dirty on the roadie, didn't they?
- 53:28Poor gays on the roadie. Yeah.
- 53:30So it's like the box, obviously. The box of like the plastic toys
- 53:33that you break up and fix together.
- 53:35Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you've got so you've
- 53:38got obviously McFly, then you've got a roadie.
- 53:42And it's like this big gaze who's like just just your
- 53:45stereotypical roadie. And I was like just.
- 53:47Can't get me. And then the and then the.
- 53:50Naughties Back to the naughties when we were allowed to do
- 53:53stereotypes. And then the fan is this girl
- 53:55with her little high heels on and her legs, which is just
- 53:57like, I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm like that now, but
- 54:00yeah, the poor roadie. But.
- 54:02It's a very strange video. It is, but I still think that if
- 54:05they sold those I would have bought. 1.
- 54:07Oh yeah, 100%. Oh yeah.
- 54:09We literally just saying that before we started the podcast,
- 54:11we. I just said before we started,
- 54:12have we? We all watched the video and I
- 54:14was just like, yeah, I watched it and I was talking about how
- 54:17weird it is, these little plastic.
- 54:18The first thing she said was I'd buy one.
- 54:21Yeah, I think. I would have.
- 54:22I think I, it's, I mean, it's definitely not my favourite
- 54:26video of theirs. I think it's definitely like
- 54:28towards the bottom of videos 100%, but I just, I think for
- 54:33me, I feel like they just missed a massive opportunity to make a
- 54:36really good music video. I think that's what it is.
- 54:38So if the song wasn't so visual then it wouldn't be a problem.
- 54:43But the song tells the story itself.
- 54:45Why have you ignored the story? Yeah, we start.
- 54:47A petition for them to do another.
- 54:49Remake the. Music.
- 54:51So many petitions coming out now.
- 54:53Yeah. I think it would be so visually
- 54:55beautiful as well. Like to see them all like what
- 54:59their tour life was like back then.
- 55:01Or not even tour life. What their writing life was
- 55:03like, because obviously they were writing the album, so it
- 55:05wasn't even like they were famous.
- 55:06They were staying in this really crappy hotel and I just think it
- 55:10would have been a really nice, like little peek into what their
- 55:12lives were actually like and they just missed, missed out on
- 55:15it. Almost see like the lighting.
- 55:17Can't you be in that? Like Harry Pottery?
- 55:20Like dark? Do you know what I mean?
- 55:22Dingy, dingy, like a really grey.
- 55:25You know, like, like the first Twilight film.
- 55:28Oh my God, oh we someone talking to the movie.
- 55:31The philtre is on the whole movie.
- 55:34Oh yeah, the whole first movie is just grey actually, yeah, I'm
- 55:40I mean that's there's not a lot else to say about this music
- 55:42video to be completely honest. It's a very short section.
- 55:45But yes, McFly, this was not your best.
- 55:49If any of you guys listening have your any opinions on this
- 55:52music video and think we are completely and us need a wrong
- 55:54and love it please let us know in the comments because it would
- 55:57be really interesting to hear the opposite.
- 55:58Side you like to know if there's anyone right in room on the 3rd
- 56:02floor 10 out 10 like really fangirl in for room on the 3rd
- 56:05floor top of their list listen to every.
- 56:07Day. I'm sure there's somebody.
- 56:09There's got a bit we wanna. Meet you and honestly I
- 56:11apologise because I've clearly offended you now.
- 56:18All right Galaxy defenders it's time to prove your loyalty grab
- 56:22your guitars fix your fringes and let's see how well you
- 56:26really know the McFly universe so you can play along at home
- 56:29with this. There are these questions are
- 56:32going to be on our Instagram stories and TikTok.
- 56:36So if you want to join in, you can don't listen to the answers
- 56:39now go back and do the quiz and then come back and listen to the
- 56:42answers. Otherwise it's not going to make
- 56:44any sense to you. Every Wednesday we release our
- 56:46quizzes so you can pop on there on a Wednesday before the
- 56:49episode airs and then join us on the Friday for the answers.
- 56:52OK, so question number one is before McFly.
- 56:57Shannon, you're not allowed to answer this.
- 56:58I think Tasha needs to answer this.
- 57:00It was pretty obvious before McFly.
- 57:02Tom Fletcher was almost in another pop band.
- 57:06Which one was it? Was it a busted B Blue C Blazing
- 57:14squad? I really want the answer to be
- 57:17Blazing Squad, but. Obviously man that is bastard
- 57:22and then I just would love 21 member squad it.
- 57:26Would be a revelation. Fit right in, wouldn't it?
- 57:29And congratulations, you are correct.
- 57:32The answer is a a busted good. OK.
- 57:35Shan, do you want to go read Question 2?
- 57:38Yeah, so Mcfly's debut single, Five Colours and a Hair hit
- 57:42number one in 2004. But who was a song inspired by a
- 57:49A girl from TVBA, hairdresser from Slough.
- 57:53We'll C Daddy's old, Daddy Danny's old.
- 57:58Honey, you can call him. We've all called him Daddy.
- 58:01Maybe not on on a live podcast, but we have in my dreams.
- 58:06Daddy's a science teacher. I can't get over that.
- 58:11Can I just bring up the the video of Harry Styles answering
- 58:15Daddy question mark on the have you seen that video?
- 58:19There's a tour, one of his tours where this guy had written Daddy
- 58:23question mark on a board. Yes.
- 58:25And Harry saw it and pointed to it, and he went yes, no.
- 58:29I don't think it has this so. Funny, he literally says.
- 58:32All I've got to say is yes. Yes.
- 58:35I'll happily call call Danny Jones Daddy, if you wanted to
- 58:38put it that way, that's fine. Anyway, Tash, what do you think?
- 58:42I actually don't know this. I again I really want the answer
- 58:45to be a hairdresser and slap but.
- 58:47I love that, yeah. I think it's got to be a girl
- 58:51from TV, hasn't it? Correct.
- 58:53Do you know who it is Chan or or you Tash What?
- 58:56What girl from TV it was? I always assume it's Avril
- 59:03Lavigne. I always assume.
- 59:05It's no, it would be good if it was Avril Lavigne.
- 59:07You can see that happening. So there was actually a show
- 59:10back in the naughties and late 90s called as if, I don't know
- 59:14whether any of you saw it, but there's a girl, a character on
- 59:18there called Susie. And she had colourful, colourful
- 59:23hair. And they, they all loved her.
- 59:26And they, yeah, they had like a little, little schoolboy crush
- 59:29on Susie from As if. So that's where that song came
- 59:32from. Love.
- 59:32That so when I go to the hairdressers next I just bring
- 59:35in a picture of her. Yeah, of her, yeah.
- 59:38OK. Tash, do you want to read
- 59:39Question 3? Yeah, the album room on the 3rd
- 59:43floor is named after A a Travelodge where they recorded
- 59:46demos, B the room Tom was staying in while writing.
- 59:50Or CA metaphor for the space between planets, but make it pop
- 59:54punk. What do you think, Shan?
- 59:57Pretty easy. Well, I know it's B, but I
- 1:00:01really want it to be C. There are other hotel trains
- 1:00:05available, not. The plan for the Travelodge,
- 1:00:11Yes. Obviously.
- 1:00:12It was, it was about the room that Tom was staying in while
- 1:00:15writing and he wasn't on his own.
- 1:00:16He was with Danny and I think the others were there as well.
- 1:00:18So although it does, it does sound a little bit like a dodgy
- 1:00:22Airbnb when they're singing it. I think we can all picture that
- 1:00:24in our minds. And question #4 the great
- 1:00:29Alliance. Sir Tasha want to read this one?
- 1:00:31Yes, in 2014 McFly joined forces with Busted.
- 1:00:35What name did this pop super group go by and who was missing
- 1:00:38from the original bands? Shannon, if you get this wrong
- 1:00:42I'm disowning you and I'm inviting someone else to be my
- 1:00:45Co host. Oh no.
- 1:00:48What could that band possible Mcbusted?
- 1:00:53And who was missing? Matt, right?
- 1:01:00Charlie definitely CCCC. OK, question #5 Shannon read it
- 1:01:08for Tash. So finish the lyric.
- 1:01:12She doesn't know that I'm a virgin in the kitchen.
- 1:01:16Because it's normally Mama. Oh yeah, what's a banger?
- 1:01:22And that lyric is from the song Broccoli Broccoli Yes, one of
- 1:01:26our absolute favourites. Amazing.
- 1:01:28Well done girls. You are most definitely part of
- 1:01:31We want to see defendants biggest McFly yes in the world
- 1:01:34now. These questions were so hard.
- 1:01:40Oh dear. OK, that's it, Galaxy Defenders.
- 1:01:42If you've got five out of five, you're cleared for integralactic
- 1:01:45travel. If you've got less than three,
- 1:01:46you're grounded until you rewatch Just My Luck twice.
- 1:01:49And then every lyric to Broccoli.
- 1:01:50Good luck. I want to watch, I want to
- 1:01:53rewatch. Just my luck twice anyway.
- 1:01:55Yeah, just for the just for the fun of it.
- 1:01:57I feel like it's going to be one of my Christmas movies.
- 1:01:59I might watch that. Yeah, we should have a girls
- 1:02:01night. Yeah, Shannon, we'll, we'll
- 1:02:03invite you over FaceTime. Over FaceTime.
