- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning and welcome
- 0:13Speaker 1: to Wednesday. We made it to the middle of the week.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm very happy to announce that today I'll be watching
- 0:18Speaker 1: The Odyssey for the 3rd time. OMG. It's that good.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Guess how many times I've watched it? 0.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm still waiting. Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Lady Gaga with the Dead Dance right here on 987.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim with you. As you might remember, this
- 0:38Speaker 1: is off Wednesday, the Netflix series, which by the way,
- 0:42Speaker 1: they're in production right now. Season 3 is expected to
- 0:45Speaker 1: premiere in 2027.
- 0:47Speaker 1: They haven't announced the exact release date just yet, but Gaga,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I think is definitely gonna play a much bigger role
- 0:54Speaker 1: in this upcoming season. I was gonna say, Gaga Morticia Adams? No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:00Speaker 1: she's not Morticia Adams. Catherine Zeta-Jones is Morticia actually. But
- 1:05Speaker 1: Gaga came in in season two as like a bit
- 1:09Speaker 1: of a
- 1:10Speaker 1: Plot twist kind of character. And it was more of
- 1:13Speaker 1: a cameo situation, but it ended with a cliff cliffhanger
- 1:16Speaker 1: which made everyone think that she's gonna come back as
- 1:19Speaker 1: a bigger role in season three. Is that proven just yet,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I don't know, but we'll see, we'll see. It's a fits.
- 1:25Speaker 1: So it fits her to a T, yeah. She should
- 1:28Speaker 1: just do the entire soundtrack because I think her songs
- 1:30Speaker 1: work so well for Wednesday. And I wonder whether she
- 1:33Speaker 1: now get an Emmy Award for her acting role on Wednesday.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we'll see, we'll see. Yo, we got loads
- 1:39Speaker 1: of updates coming your way.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I was just looking at all the news that we have.
- 1:44Speaker 1: We got news involving cyclists, next year's NDP. What else
- 1:48Speaker 1: you want to talk about here on a Wednesday morning?
- 1:50Speaker 1: We got it for you. Amy, plenty of updates here
- 1:53Speaker 1: and I think, you know, sometimes when I look at
- 1:56Speaker 1: our news channels, multiple different news channels, it's the gift
- 1:59Speaker 1: that keeps on giving, you know, like what would we
- 2:01Speaker 1: do without them honestly? What would our show be like? Yeah,
- 2:04Speaker 1: but today for our Wednesday.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I guess it's a very face palm worthy news day
- 2:09Speaker 1: for us today. Truly is and it's so funny because yesterday, um,
- 2:13Speaker 1: you know, we were talking about crime and usually we
- 2:16Speaker 1: don't do it this early, but crime is about, uh,
- 2:19Speaker 1: cases that we just face palm at where it can
- 2:22Speaker 1: be considered crime, but sometimes you wonder like why the
- 2:25Speaker 1: hell people do this, right? And what were you thinking? Yeah,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and then I filled you in about how, um,
- 2:30Speaker 1: Cases of home-related theft went up. Now there's another stat
- 2:37Speaker 1: about theft, and unfortunately, it involves young people. Oh no. So,
- 2:42Speaker 1: like I mentioned earlier, bit of um disturbing or rather
- 2:46Speaker 1: concerning stats here.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Because yesterday we were just talking about how um there's
- 2:50Speaker 1: been an increase in home-related theft in the past year
- 2:54Speaker 1: or so. Now, another stat, over 350 youths.
- 3:01Speaker 1: have been investigated for shop theft in Singapore in just
- 3:04Speaker 1: the first half of this year alone, which is, here's
- 3:07Speaker 1: the worrying part, Joakim, a 30% increase from last year.
- 3:12Speaker 1: What is going on? I mean, shop theft, OK, clearly
- 3:15Speaker 1: remains as one of the top offenses committed by young people, teens, youths,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you know.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And I'm sure that when we were in school, we
- 3:23Speaker 1: might have known a couple of friends or maybe even
- 3:25Speaker 1: you might have been pressured into like, hey just go
- 3:27Speaker 1: and take that chocolate bar la or like I don't
- 3:29Speaker 1: know what boys would pressure each other to do. I
- 3:32Speaker 1: think shop theft of the 2000s and early 2010s, very
- 3:38Speaker 1: different from what they're stealing currently does it.
- 3:41Speaker 1: they're stealing Pokemon cards and stuff. OK, let me tell
- 3:43Speaker 1: you what they're stealing. They didn't say Pokemon cards specifically,
- 3:46Speaker 1: but items that are typically stolen aside from food and drinks,
- 3:49Speaker 1: which is obvious, personal care products, so like skincare, um, clothing, accessories,
- 3:57Speaker 1: and alcohol. These are the, the typical items being stolen.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Um, most of the shop theft cases involving youths took
- 4:06Speaker 1: place at convenience stores, mini marts, wellness shops, personal care shops.
- 4:12Speaker 1: So I'm thinking maybe like your possibly your like Watsons
- 4:16Speaker 1: or Guardian, these kind of shops where you have access to,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I don't know, Korean skincare and stuff. You're a teenager.
- 4:22Speaker 1: What are you stealing Oxy 5, Oxy 10? Dude, no
- 4:25Speaker 1: one uses that anymore.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Joe, no, I think they're aiming for like the K
- 4:31Speaker 1: Beauty or like Jat Beauty or even C Beauty now
- 4:34Speaker 1: because both, I, well, I shop at Watsons and Guardian
- 4:37Speaker 1: a lot. Both stores, they now stock a lot of
- 4:39Speaker 1: really good Korean, Japanese and Chinese brands. So I'm, I'm
- 4:44Speaker 1: suspecting it could be that. I take back whatever I
- 4:47Speaker 1: said about being different from 2010s and the early 2000s
- 4:51Speaker 1: because the four that you listed is the same, it's
- 4:54Speaker 1: quite similar, yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But you, you were thinking about like collectible items or
- 4:58Speaker 1: like your boo boos, your crybabies and all that. That's
- 5:02Speaker 1: so I'm sure they have very, very, very tough security
- 5:05Speaker 1: around there. But there are reports of people, you know,
- 5:07Speaker 1: getting scammed or even stealing these things, yeah, but you
- 5:10Speaker 1: know that's like putting an entire blind box into your bag.
- 5:14Speaker 1: That's really tough, you know. So anyway, um, I think
- 5:19Speaker 1: CN our friends over at CNA actually spoke to some
- 5:21Speaker 1: experts like what's going on and all that.
- 5:23Speaker 1: They said it could be an increase in peer pressure
- 5:25Speaker 1: and bullying as well in school. That's the reason why
- 5:29Speaker 1: some of them actually commit these offenses. So it's a
- 5:32Speaker 1: developing story. I think it's much, it goes much deeper
- 5:34Speaker 1: than just like, oh, there's been an increase in theft
- 5:37Speaker 1: among the youth. I think it goes deeper. So like
- 5:39Speaker 1: that age, if you can't do the time, don't do
- 5:42Speaker 1: the crime. It was really truly a tag.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Good morning. This is James here. Hello James. Wow, you
- 5:52Speaker 1: sound very energetic this morning. What are you up to? Just,
- 5:55Speaker 1: just woke up. OK, which school are you giving a
- 5:57Speaker 1: shout out to James? River Valley River Valley High, is it? Yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 1: that's right. And what was life like for you, River
- 6:03Speaker 1: Valley High? One of my most fun times, the basketball
- 6:06Speaker 1: session during the canteen, the canteen break. Wait, this sounds
- 6:10Speaker 1: like something would do just that yours is, right? I.
- 6:13Speaker 1: You know, I never understood like because I came from
- 6:15Speaker 1: an all-girls school, so you don't really see girls like.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Doing sports during recess because you don't want to get
- 6:20Speaker 1: sweaty during recess, but I heard it's totally different with
- 6:23Speaker 1: boys that you get super sweaty during recess. I mean,
- 6:25Speaker 1: it's the only time James, were you a wai? Were
- 6:28Speaker 1: you a rebel? OK, OK, opposite of you, Joe. I know.
- 6:32Speaker 1: What song can we get you this morning? Anything will do.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Anything will do. Alright, I'll choose something for you. Just
- 6:37Speaker 1: blindly spin the wheel here. So shout out going out
- 6:40Speaker 1: to River Valley High. Take care, James. Bye-bye. OK, it's
- 6:45Speaker 1: gonna get quite dark here on a Wednesday morning.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Because what I read about Jeju yesterday, and I say
- 6:52Speaker 1: this with in my mind, I think it might happen.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I'm very sure people have read Netflix. They're gonna plan
- 7:00Speaker 1: a crime documentary on this which will be released maybe
- 7:05Speaker 1: say a decade later. OK, so you gotta tell me
- 7:07Speaker 1: what this. I'm getting goosebumps already. OK, so trigger warning,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it involves death, OK.
- 7:15Speaker 1: There were 4 dead bodies found in Jeju Island in
- 7:19Speaker 1: the last 3 days alone.
- 7:21Speaker 1: OK, and this was in 2026. Yeah, just happened a
- 7:25Speaker 1: few days ago, and it actually involves one former police
- 7:32Speaker 1: officer by the name of Sergeant Boo, OK.
- 7:36Speaker 1: So it's been reported that Sergeant Buo has falsely closed
- 7:41Speaker 1: 200 missing person cases. Yeah, and I think one or
- 7:47Speaker 1: two of the dead bodies found in the last 3
- 7:49Speaker 1: days were actually involved Sergeant Buo. So what Sergeant Buo?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Do is, uh, he would actually call the families of
- 7:57Speaker 1: the missing people and say, oh yeah, I've come into
- 7:59Speaker 1: contact with the person you reported. Yeah, this or that
- 8:02Speaker 1: person doesn't want to be contacted by you. So I
- 8:04Speaker 1: think let them live la, OK, let them live. They
- 8:06Speaker 1: are OK, they are fine, and he hangs up the
- 8:08Speaker 1: phone and he closes the case, OK, and the family believes.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Yeah, they didn't cross-check with any organization. I think there
- 8:16Speaker 1: were a couple of families who took it with a
- 8:19Speaker 1: with a pinch of salt and visual confirmation. OK, OK, good, good,
- 8:24Speaker 1: but it didn't really happen and for years, Sergeant Boo
- 8:27Speaker 1: was able to go scot-free, but now that this has happened,
- 8:31Speaker 1: they've arrested him and they are now investigating him.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Dude, that, that's, that's so scary. Like I can already
- 8:37Speaker 1: imagine it being one of the new true crime series.
- 8:40Speaker 1: There are speculations that Sergeant Boo could be the murderer.
- 8:43Speaker 1: He could very well be involved in that. Yeah, but
- 8:46Speaker 1: consider us very invested in this case. And again, Jeju
- 8:50Speaker 1: being a tourist favorite. Yeah, stay safe and be safe.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And I, I really enjoyed.
- 8:54Speaker 1: at Jeju. Like I went, OK, I didn't go there
- 8:56Speaker 1: for a vacation. It was for like a, a shoot,
- 8:59Speaker 1: but we did experience a lot of what the locals did, including,
- 9:03Speaker 1: you know, how those, um, very cute ajuma, they go
- 9:06Speaker 1: out to sea and they get seafood like, um, oysters
- 9:10Speaker 1: and clams and all that, and sea urchin. So they
- 9:13Speaker 1: actually showed us how they do it and we went
- 9:15Speaker 1: with them.
- 9:16Speaker 1: So, I'm gonna give you a more, uh, uh, a
- 9:18Speaker 1: more detailed update, OK? So, according to South Korean police,
- 9:21Speaker 1: they have removed 4 officers in the chain of command
- 9:24Speaker 1: at Jeju Shobu Police Station.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And they're conducting a full investigation into 298 cases chilling
- 9:34Speaker 1: closed by Sergeant Boo since March of last year. The,
- 9:38Speaker 1: the power that this guy had, you know, too much
- 9:42Speaker 1: power on one person, man, the ability to just shut
- 9:44Speaker 1: it off without other people in the organization questioning him
- 9:47Speaker 1: or what maybe he convinced them to shut up about
- 9:50Speaker 1: it and knowing the Koreans.
- 9:52Speaker 1: When you give them reason to unite, or they're gonna
- 9:55Speaker 1: come down, man, that's for sure. They're gonna come down
- 9:58Speaker 1: hard on the police. Hopefully justice will be served 200 victims, that's,
- 10:02Speaker 1: that's insane. The moment we get an update, we'll let
- 10:03Speaker 1: you know. It's time for Bodo crime. Here we go.
- 10:06Speaker 1: And where are we going? Um, that's the thing, we're
- 10:09Speaker 1: not exactly going anywhere and you'll find out why in
- 10:12Speaker 1: just a bit. OK, please sing a jingle to start
- 10:14Speaker 1: us off. Bo, crime, crime.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And we're going to everywhere, everywhere around you. And truly,
- 10:24Speaker 1: it could be the case because this happened on the email.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So how do you, it's not a particular place, it's
- 10:31Speaker 1: the internet space. This one is special. You got to
- 10:33Speaker 1: find the IP address and find difficult. OK, I don't
- 10:36Speaker 1: know what his email came from. Anyway, this man here
- 10:40Speaker 1: in Singapore.
- 10:41Speaker 1: has been, uh, is about to be charged rather today actually.
- 10:45Speaker 1: This is his charging date for allegedly sending harassment emails
- 10:51Speaker 1: to MHA and the police.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And he's about to be charged for using insulting and
- 10:58Speaker 1: abusive words towards public servants, to which there is a
- 11:02Speaker 1: rule and there is uh something protecting them when it
- 11:04Speaker 1: comes to that uh harassment law protecting them. Exactly. So
- 11:10Speaker 1: apparently what happened was, um, he wasn't happy with his
- 11:13Speaker 1: interactions with the police and I guess several organizations. So he,
- 11:18Speaker 1: he sent an email that contained a lot of um
- 11:21Speaker 1: abusive remarks directly.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Um, addressed to the SPF and the officers that work
- 11:26Speaker 1: in the Singapore Police Force to express his dissatisfaction. So, um,
- 11:30Speaker 1: by the way, he'll be charged with, um, with this
- 11:34Speaker 1: using insulting and abusive words under the Protection from Harassment Acts. Yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 1: that started in 2014. If you remember, we actually spoke
- 11:42Speaker 1: about this a long time ago, um, and they, he
- 11:45Speaker 1: Might be looking at a jail term or a hefty
- 11:47Speaker 1: fine or even both. Our public servants and the police,
- 11:51Speaker 1: they have zero tolerance towards harassment and abusive conduct, by
- 11:54Speaker 1: the way. Without mentioning names and the relevant ministries they
- 11:58Speaker 1: work for, I do have friends who actually share.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That every day they receive interesting emails from people here
- 12:05Speaker 1: in Singapore. Really, every single day, and some of these
- 12:09Speaker 1: people who email them are regulars. Oh my gosh, what
- 12:13Speaker 1: can be done though? They're trying their best to make
- 12:15Speaker 1: sure they address the situations because the last thing you
- 12:17Speaker 1: want is someone slamming a ministry or whatsoever. It's not
- 12:20Speaker 1: so easy. You can't just block them. And speaking of
- 12:22Speaker 1: slamming online, look, people on Reddit, on Hardware Zone, even
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Facebook comments section as well.
- 12:29Speaker 1: You might be having a nickname that could be smiling
- 12:32Speaker 1: Infinity 1234567, even though it's a burner account.
- 12:38Speaker 1: And you know, freedom of speech, it doesn't mean there
- 12:41Speaker 1: are no consequences if you say something that is not true.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm sure it can be if, if anyone
- 12:46Speaker 1: takes action against you, even though it's a burner account,
- 12:50Speaker 1: people are able to track who you are and where
- 12:53Speaker 1: you are posting this from. Not normal people like us. No, no,
- 12:55Speaker 1: we're not able to. You need to do it or
- 12:57Speaker 1: cyber stuff, you know what I mean.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Anyway, we'll see where this goes. You know, before we
- 13:03Speaker 1: move on here on the show, a bit of a
- 13:05Speaker 1: sad day in the music world. Want to pay tribute
- 13:08Speaker 1: to a pioneer and if you love country music, if
- 13:11Speaker 1: you love your artists like Taylor Swift and maybe even
- 13:14Speaker 1: Sabrina Carpenter, I would dare say this person is Taylor
- 13:19Speaker 1: and Sabrina Carpenter's favorite artist as well, Dolly Par Parton, yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Um, she passed away at the age of 80, as
- 13:25Speaker 1: you might have heard on the news already. But I
- 13:28Speaker 1: think beyond that, there's so many things that I'm learning
- 13:30Speaker 1: about her that I didn't realize prior to this, you know.
- 13:32Speaker 1: So two of the most popular songs in my opinion, Jolene, Jolene,
- 13:38Speaker 1: which she did, she did a version with Lady Gaga, right?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Did she?
- 13:43Speaker 1: Was it not, was it not Gaga? Beyonce has a
- 13:45Speaker 1: cover of the song. Oh, OK, OK. I can't remember.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I thought Lady Gaga did one with her anyway, you
- 13:49Speaker 1: were saying and also you know Whitney Houston's and
- 13:53Speaker 1: I will always love you. It's actually a Dolly Parton song.
- 13:58Speaker 1: It's available on YouTube. If you didn't know, now you know. OK, so, um,
- 14:02Speaker 1: I did a quick search. Uh, she, I don't think
- 14:05Speaker 1: Gaga did that, but, um, she has a very strong
- 14:08Speaker 1: connection to, to Dolly Parton, and I think, um, she
- 14:12Speaker 1: also met.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Mentioned it a couple of times. Yeah, yeah, you're gonna
- 14:17Speaker 1: see all your favorite artists. We're talking the likes of Eminem,
- 14:20Speaker 1: Sabrina Carpenter, maybe even Lady Gaga as well. I think
- 14:23Speaker 1: Post Malone recently shared an update and I won't be surprised,
- 14:27Speaker 1: Miley Cyrus as well. Oh yeah, for paying a small
- 14:29Speaker 1: tribute to Dolly Parton and Dolly was so um active
- 14:33Speaker 1: up until the recent years. I mean she was still
- 14:36Speaker 1: doing TV shows, appearances and all that.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And I think one of my favorite quotes from her ever, OK,
- 14:41Speaker 1: which I saved, um, you know, the, the whole, all
- 14:43Speaker 1: your social media space will be filled with this today.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I mean she is unapologetically herself. She is. OK, wait,
- 14:49Speaker 1: let me read out my favorite quote from her, OK.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Let me just scroll all the way to the one
- 14:54Speaker 1: that I saved. OK. Don't get so busy making a
- 14:57Speaker 1: living that you forget to make a life. And I
- 15:00Speaker 1: was like, wow.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Thank you for that reminder though, honestly, because I feel
- 15:05Speaker 1: like especially in Asian culture, we're so busy hustling all
- 15:09Speaker 1: the time and we see our parents and we've seen
- 15:11Speaker 1: our grandparents and other aunties and uncles, like just slogging
- 15:14Speaker 1: away their whole life, you know, working every single day,
- 15:16Speaker 1: 7 days a week, and sometimes you wonder, did they
- 15:19Speaker 1: manage to live a life before it's too late, right? Yeah, exactly.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Well, a gentle reminder for us today to make the
- 15:27Speaker 1: most of it. Rest in peace, Dolly Parton. OK, so, um,
- 15:31Speaker 1: gonna eliminate all names now, but this happened quite recently
- 15:34Speaker 1: the names it spicy. Come on. Unlike you, I, I
- 15:39Speaker 1: want to keep some of these friends, OK.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Anyway, here's what happened, OK. So, um, you know, it's
- 15:45Speaker 1: been quite a year filled with weddings. Um, I think
- 15:50Speaker 1: obviously people in the millennial generation, some of them are
- 15:53Speaker 1: finally deciding to settle down, I guess. I mean, celebrity-wise,
- 15:58Speaker 1: Taylor Swift Singapore for a local.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Person, thank you. Yeah, um, and not to mention Dua
- 16:03Speaker 1: Lipa who had a beautiful wedding too, and then next
- 16:05Speaker 1: year I think we might be seeing like Harry Styles,
- 16:08Speaker 1: for example, and Zoe Kravitz. They might tie the knot
- 16:10Speaker 1: next year maybe because they got engaged this year, right?
- 16:13Speaker 1: So many, many people in the millennial generation getting, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 1: locked in right now. So, uh, one of my friends
- 16:20Speaker 1: actually went for a wonderful wedding recently.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And uh she was a bridesmaid, OK. So we were
- 16:27Speaker 1: just kind of asking like, hey, how's it going, you know,
- 16:29Speaker 1: kind of thing. This, this was a, this was like
- 16:32Speaker 1: at least 2 months ago already. So then she goes, yeah, um,
- 16:36Speaker 1: so I wanted to ask you guys,
- 16:39Speaker 1: What, what do you think about um me being a
- 16:41Speaker 1: bridesmaid for this girl, OK? And I said, huh, this is,
- 16:45Speaker 1: you've already done it. What's the, what's the reason for
- 16:47Speaker 1: asking this question, right? And then she goes, No, I just,
- 16:51Speaker 1: you know, it was a question that was just bugging
- 16:52Speaker 1: me for a bit because we're not that close, and
- 16:56Speaker 1: I kept wondering why she asked me to be her bridesmaid,
- 17:00Speaker 1: which
- 17:01Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I mean, that's a, that's an
- 17:04Speaker 1: interesting situation that, you know, you said yes after all,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and she said, yeah, I said yes because I felt bad,
- 17:09Speaker 1: like I would, I, I, you know, I was invited
- 17:11Speaker 1: to be a bridesmaid, so I just did it. I
- 17:13Speaker 1: was like, OK, maybe.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Maybe to her, you know, you're her close friend more
- 17:19Speaker 1: so than the other way around. Perhaps maybe you have
- 17:21Speaker 1: a more inner circle group of friends. Again, this is
- 17:24Speaker 1: good cop bad cop. You're the good cop bad cop
- 17:27Speaker 1: mind is thinking, plan A, yes, maybe that friend holds
- 17:29Speaker 1: her in very high regard in very high regard, but
- 17:32Speaker 1: my other scenarios are, oh, OK, this person, yeah, uh,
- 17:37Speaker 1: come from a very well-connected family, yeah, have you as
- 17:40Speaker 1: my bridesmaid or my grooms.
- 17:43Speaker 1: What is that? So when people see him or her, hey, wow,
- 17:46Speaker 1: you know each other. Wow, so well connected are you?
- 17:50Speaker 1: You see, OK, but you see then it depends on
- 17:52Speaker 1: what kind of wedding that is, right? Like is it
- 17:54Speaker 1: the kind of wedding where like their parents are inviting
- 17:57Speaker 1: the whole world to like show off that kind of thing,
- 17:59Speaker 1: or what, what is it, you know what I mean?
- 18:02Speaker 1: Because there are different ways of doing things, no right
- 18:04Speaker 1: or wrong, like I always say, but yeah, I left
- 18:06Speaker 1: my friend kind of wondering like, actually what am I
- 18:08Speaker 1: doing here as the bridesmaid.
- 18:11Speaker 1: So then it got, it got me thinking because, you know,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you were at my wedding the whole day. Um, I
- 18:16Speaker 1: didn't have any bridesmaids, if you think about it. It
- 18:19Speaker 1: was only um the Catholic girlies in my circle that
- 18:22Speaker 1: did the walkthrough in the church for me. And then
- 18:26Speaker 1: some of my oldest friends from school did the speech
- 18:28Speaker 1: at night. Yeah, so I mean for your wedding, you
- 18:31Speaker 1: could see that your closest friends, those in the inner
- 18:34Speaker 1: circle were openly helping you.
- 18:38Speaker 1: So that's the thing. That's why I didn't really, I
- 18:40Speaker 1: didn't label anyone bridesmaids. I didn't ask anyone to be
- 18:43Speaker 1: my bridesmaid at all. I was just like, you know
- 18:45Speaker 1: what the problem is, it's a good problem. I mean,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I have several very close group of girlfriends around, OK?
- 18:52Speaker 1: And I can't be like, oh, all of you are
- 18:54Speaker 1: my bridesmaids. Then how Jeremy would have to have like
- 18:57Speaker 1: 10 groomsmen, so he doesn't have that, which he can
- 18:59Speaker 1: pick anytime he wants. I mean, he, he has a
- 19:01Speaker 1: lot of friends, but when you talk inner circle.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You talk about the people who will be there for
- 19:06Speaker 1: you through the rehearsal, to the tasting, and how many
- 19:09Speaker 1: people would there be, right? You know what I mean?
- 19:10Speaker 1: So I guess both of us are in agreement that
- 19:12Speaker 1: the role of a groomsman and a bridesmaid and even massacred.
- 19:18Speaker 1: It is very personal and that that's the reason why
- 19:21Speaker 1: I just didn't label them. I was just like, you
- 19:23Speaker 1: know what guys, I appreciate if you can just help
- 19:26Speaker 1: whenever there's a chance to help. That's it. And then
- 19:28Speaker 1: I just selected the, the two oldest friends.
- 19:31Speaker 1: to do my speech test. Yeah, I have a question
- 19:34Speaker 1: for you. So like that if tomorrow, right, let's just
- 19:37Speaker 1: say someone you know but you're not close to is royalty, OK,
- 19:41Speaker 1: like the princess of some country or what, and, and
- 19:45Speaker 1: she wants, like I know princesses, no, no, no, I
- 19:47Speaker 1: mean just a hypothetical question. She wants you as a
- 19:50Speaker 1: bridesmaid even though you're not close, but she knows you
- 19:53Speaker 1: for quite a while already, OK, but she's royalty. She
- 19:56Speaker 1: wants you as a bridesmaid.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Uh.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Maybe I do lah. Ang Pao might be quite good.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Let me check which princess of Thailand or Brune is
- 20:10Speaker 1: getting married soon.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Give us a call, 669-11987.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Um, if you were to ever be asked to be
- 20:20Speaker 1: a groomsman or bridesmaid or something of that equivalent, but
- 20:25Speaker 1: you're not that close to the person. I mean, you're friends,
- 20:28Speaker 1: but you're not like inner circle close. Would you say yes?
- 20:33Speaker 1: Would you, Joakim?
- 20:35Speaker 1: I feel like you won't, you know, let me give
- 20:36Speaker 1: you a real-life colleague example, OK, OK. I mean, even
- 20:40Speaker 1: though I know him, if, for example, Liang from Yes
- 20:45Speaker 1: approaches me saying Joim, can you be my best man,
- 20:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna say no, like, like I celebrate your wedding.
- 20:50Speaker 1: But I'm not close to your inner circle to know
- 20:54Speaker 1: you at that level, yeah, probably politely turn it down. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, I agree. Unless it's the princess
- 21:01Speaker 1: or whatever, then I will do it. No, unless it's
- 21:03Speaker 1: the prince of Brunei, yeah, I'm I'm also there. You're
- 21:07Speaker 1: the bride, is it?
- 21:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Don't out me like that. Phone lines are open. You
- 21:19Speaker 1: go and see a picture of, if you don't know
- 21:21Speaker 1: who we're talking about, you go and see it, then
- 21:22Speaker 1: you understand why. I know it doesn't mean I'm blind.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I know, I know.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Thanks for the reminder.
- 21:33Speaker 1: 669-11987. Let us know if you're ever approached to be,
- 21:39Speaker 1: are you crying?
- 21:42Speaker 1: If you're ever approached to be the bridesmaid or the groomsman,
- 21:47Speaker 1: but you're not that close to the person, would you
- 21:49Speaker 1: say yes? In exchange, a dining experience for two worth
- 21:52Speaker 1: $256.07 Singapore's number one hit music station, a line that
- 21:57Speaker 1: you could very well be saying to a person that
- 22:00Speaker 1: you're not that close to that asks you to be
- 22:02Speaker 1: their bridesmaid or groomsman.
- 22:04Speaker 1: It's OK. I'm OK. You can choose someone else. That's
- 22:07Speaker 1: exactly what I could have said, but it meant something else.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Oh no, on WhatsApp 90050987. Hey guys, I was asked
- 22:15Speaker 1: by my ex-girlfriend together for five years to be her
- 22:19Speaker 1: husband's groomsman? Because lack of manpower. No, no, I hope
- 22:25Speaker 1: you said no. I accepted anyway. Oh, you did for
- 22:29Speaker 1: the ang pow.
- 22:31Speaker 1: OK, our values are aligned.boyfriend does. That's the question. I'm
- 22:40Speaker 1: sure he does. I mean, look, OK, if I ended
- 22:43Speaker 1: on good terms with my ex and we became friends
- 22:45Speaker 1: and then somehow he became friends with my
- 22:47Speaker 1: Current husband, then that's OK, I guess, but wouldn't the
- 22:51Speaker 1: husband find it weird? Yeah, OK. Well, you see, clearly
- 22:56Speaker 1: I don't have any that I'm close to the point
- 22:59Speaker 1: where I'll invite them, right? Yeah, let alone to be grooms.
- 23:03Speaker 1: One more coming in from anonymous texter. Hey guys, a
- 23:06Speaker 1: few years back I was invited to be a groomsman
- 23:08Speaker 1: for one of my batchmates at work, and the other
- 23:11Speaker 1: groomsmen were also from work, and at that point we
- 23:13Speaker 1: only knew each other for less than 3 years.
- 23:17Speaker 1: We were quite puzzled, but we still wanted to help
- 23:18Speaker 1: a bro out and went through with it. OK, I
- 23:24Speaker 1: mean when it comes to the bonds a lot faster
- 23:25Speaker 1: than when you know when you're a kid and all that, right?
- 23:28Speaker 1: It could be, could be different. OK, by the way,
- 23:31Speaker 1: just disclaimer, if I ever get married, you only see
- 23:33Speaker 1: three of my guy friends who will be my best man. OK,
- 23:37Speaker 1: so you know one of them, I, my gym, Jordan,
- 23:40Speaker 1: my gymer Jim I know I can name it.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I can literally you don't even need to tell me, dude. See, yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 1: at least you know these are my close guy friends.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Will they say yes they cannot say no hello. I'm kidding.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm kidding. They've been waiting for this day. They're praying
- 23:57Speaker 1: every day. Stop it every Sunday they're like, God, please,
- 24:01Speaker 1: and maybe I'll joking, my girl, maybe I'll put you
- 24:05Speaker 1: in a pantsuit. Oh yeah, OK, sure should be the
- 24:07Speaker 1: 4th groomsman. I have to be groomsman, then I have
- 24:10Speaker 1: to host your evening. Hello, this one, the ang better
- 24:13Speaker 1: be nice.
- 24:16Speaker 1: in the recent year or so, and she realized that, hey, actually, ah,
- 24:20Speaker 1: I'm not that close to this person. Why did she
- 24:22Speaker 1: ask me to be her bridesmaid? To which she asked,
- 24:25Speaker 1: she texted us, you know, a more inner circle group
- 24:28Speaker 1: chat and said, you know, I'm actually really surprised that
- 24:32Speaker 1: I'm there.
- 24:34Speaker 1: To which it inspired today's question, right? If one day
- 24:38Speaker 1: you were asked to be a groomsman or a bridesmaid,
- 24:40Speaker 1: but you're not exactly that close to the person, would
- 24:43Speaker 1: you say yes or no? OK, we got one coming
- 24:45Speaker 1: in from S. Morning guys. Not being asked, but I
- 24:48Speaker 1: was the one who asked. I didn't have a lot
- 24:51Speaker 1: of girlfriends. I have a perpetual RBF, and girls didn't
- 24:54Speaker 1: like me. Oh no, and I had to match the
- 24:57Speaker 1: seven groomsmen my husband had. Ended up.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Asking my sister's friends whom I watched growing up, thankfully
- 25:04Speaker 1: they have become my girlfriends now. Oh, that's sweet. That's sweet. No, honestly,
- 25:09Speaker 1: I think that can be quite stressful sometimes if like
- 25:13Speaker 1: your partner has a lot of people, like a lot
- 25:15Speaker 1: of groomsmen or a lot of bridesmaids, and then they
- 25:17Speaker 1: have to find a way to match and even it out, right? That's,
- 25:19Speaker 1: that's where you start to panic. You're like, who do
- 25:21Speaker 1: I ask? Want to say hello to Andy. Andy says,
- 25:25Speaker 1: good morning. So Kim and Chrome.
- 25:28Speaker 1: This crow nickname. See what you did in April for
- 25:32Speaker 1: my wedding, my wife had 5 to 6 bridesmaids, and
- 25:36Speaker 1: for me, my group of friends were all introverted, so
- 25:39Speaker 1: none were willing. Ended up with my wife's co-workers and bridesmaids'
- 25:44Speaker 1: husbands becoming my best men. Kind of awkward at first,
- 25:48Speaker 1: but we made it work by me spending some time
- 25:50Speaker 1: before the wedding with them just to bond a bit.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Thinking back, quite sad, you know, this, this reminds me
- 25:56Speaker 1: of a movie, um.
- 25:59Speaker 1: It's been quite a while already. Kevin Hart, no, Wedding Ringer.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Kevin Hart was in it. I think it's called Wedding Ringer.
- 26:06Speaker 1: It's a, it's a rom-com.y. Kevin Hart.
- 26:10Speaker 1: If you want a good laugh, since we're on this topic, um,
- 26:14Speaker 1: he stars as the lead in a show where he
- 26:17Speaker 1: is the one running a company that provides these services. So,
- 26:21Speaker 1: a lot of men out there have problems finding groomsmen
- 26:24Speaker 1: because their wives have a lot of friends, girlfriends. So
- 26:27Speaker 1: they'll hire him.
- 26:29Speaker 1: To find groomsmen for them. Wow, the movie stars Kevin Hart,
- 26:33Speaker 1: Josh Gad, and whatever happened to Kayle Cuoco Sweet? I
- 26:37Speaker 1: don't know. After Big Bang Theory, she, I guess, and
- 26:40Speaker 1: she's chilling. OK. There we go. But hey, it's a,
- 26:43Speaker 1: it's a funny show if you want a good laugh
- 26:45Speaker 1: about this.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Topic. Anyway, we have anonymous on the line right now. Anonymous,
- 26:50Speaker 1: so has this happened to you? I, I did recently
- 26:52Speaker 1: get approached by a friend from uni that you're not
- 26:56Speaker 1: that close to. Yeah, I'm not very close to this person.
- 26:58Speaker 1: So I recently got married. I didn't invite this friend.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so it wasn't a very nice situation because uh
- 27:07Speaker 1: he only found out about it when he asked me
- 27:10Speaker 1: to meet up and asked me to be his bride,
- 27:12Speaker 1: his groomsman and then I was like, oh damn.
- 27:16Speaker 1: So when you told him that you're married already and
- 27:19Speaker 1: he said, hey, never invite me. Did he cancel the invite?
- 27:21Speaker 1: Did he cancel the offer? No, it was even more
- 27:23Speaker 1: awkward because he saw the ring on my finger, you
- 27:26Speaker 1: just recently got married, is it? And I was like,
- 27:28Speaker 1: oh yeah. The issue is if the person doesn't even,
- 27:32Speaker 1: it doesn't even cross your mind to invite this person
- 27:35Speaker 1: to your wedding. Chances are you are really not, you
- 27:38Speaker 1: don't text this person or he doesn't know anything about you, right? Oh.
- 27:43Speaker 1: But I, I, I did have a relatively smaller wedding.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I tried to reason with him. I said, oh, just really,
- 27:48Speaker 1: really like a very, very close friends from secondary school
- 27:52Speaker 1: period and family for the rest of your life, stand
- 27:56Speaker 1: by the alibi. OK, by that reasoning. No. So what
- 27:59Speaker 1: happened in the end? Has the wedding? It hasn't happened,
- 28:02Speaker 1: but I did agree to help out help out but
- 28:04Speaker 1: not the groomsman the groomsman.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Question is, if you were asked to be someone's groomsman
- 28:12Speaker 1: or bridesmaid, but you're not exactly that close to the person,
- 28:15Speaker 1: would you say yes? OK, we've got a very beautiful
- 28:18Speaker 1: text coming in from Kelvin. Kelvin says, good morning guys.
- 28:22Speaker 1: It's always a yes now for me.
- 28:25Speaker 1: There was once I nearly turned it down because I
- 28:27Speaker 1: kept thinking, eh, we're not even that close, why me?
- 28:30Speaker 1: But during his wedding speech, he mentioned that at one
- 28:33Speaker 1: of the hardest points in his life, I was one
- 28:36Speaker 1: of the people who made him feel less alone. I
- 28:38Speaker 1: honestly had no idea I meant that much to him.
- 28:42Speaker 1: That moment really changed me. Sometimes I never realized the
- 28:44Speaker 1: place you hold.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Someone else's life until they tell you. So now if
- 28:48Speaker 1: someone asks me to stand beside him on one of
- 28:51Speaker 1: the biggest days of his life, I just take it
- 28:53Speaker 1: as a quiet honor and say yes. That's so cute. Kelvin,
- 28:57Speaker 1: making me cry in the morning. Thank you for that.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Thank you for that. I mean, now Joakim, if you're
- 29:01Speaker 1: asked to be anyone's friend, you'd be like, so how
- 29:04Speaker 1: did that impact your life?
- 29:06Speaker 1: You don't ask them. So actually, you know what, it's
- 29:09Speaker 1: a great question. You know, it is, it is, yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: and this one I will say for when we call
- 29:13Speaker 1: time here on 987. Sonia, how have I impacted your life?
- 29:17Speaker 1: let me see. Don't, don't answer now. I stock up
- 29:19Speaker 1: on Panadol because I got a migraine every day. If
- 29:21Speaker 1: you were asked to be a groomsman or a bridesmaid,
- 29:24Speaker 1: but you feel like, hey, I'm not exactly that close
- 29:26Speaker 1: to this person, would you say yes or no? Want
- 29:29Speaker 1: to say good morning to Jeremy.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Not your husband. Hey Sonia and Joakim, an NS friend
- 29:34Speaker 1: I've not had contact with since ORD randomly asked me
- 29:38Speaker 1: to be his groomsman. At first I wanted to decline,
- 29:40Speaker 1: but I was thinking this can allow me to have
- 29:42Speaker 1: a rare behind the scenes perspective of a wedding useful
- 29:46Speaker 1: for personal reference in future. He was also having his
- 29:50Speaker 1: luncheon at the Super Artas Raffles Sentosa. How to refuse
- 29:54Speaker 1: like that.
- 29:56Speaker 1: My friend had apparently made it big since I last
- 29:58Speaker 1: saw him. The groomsmen suits cost a fewk per set,
- 30:02Speaker 1: and we were also given free stays at Raffles as
- 30:05Speaker 1: part of the whole package. Given that I acted as
- 30:08Speaker 1: his MC too, I received a very generous $888 ang
- 30:12Speaker 1: Pao too. But the most precious and invaluable takeaway from
- 30:16Speaker 1: this whole experience was getting to.
- 30:17Speaker 1: You know, one of the bridesmaids on a much deeper level.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Shan't revealed her name because she's shy, but I'd say
- 30:24Speaker 1: that we are on the way to getting married ourselves.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Oh my God, this is like the plot of a rom-com. What, Jeremy.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, naughty. This is so cool. That's so cool, honestly,
- 30:36Speaker 1: so happy. Maybe now I have a reason to say
- 30:38Speaker 1: yes to being a goose.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Hey, please, do you know the amount of people that
- 30:45Speaker 1: meet at weddings and they actually hit it off? Yeah,
- 30:48Speaker 1: of course, there you go, of course. That's why attend
- 30:51Speaker 1: more weddings. All my good friends are married already. Oh, OK. And,
- 30:55Speaker 1: and the problem is because they're good friends, you probably
- 30:57Speaker 1: already know that they are involved. That's the, that's the thing. Again,
- 31:01Speaker 1: over the last 20 years I've seen my teachers and
- 31:03Speaker 1: my very good friends get married, so I'm happy for them.
- 31:06Speaker 1: OK, so if you're tuning in now and you have
- 31:08Speaker 1: a big wedding, just ask Joakim to be her groomsman.
- 31:10Speaker 1: He might say yes.
- 31:13Speaker 1: We've got PL on the line right now. PL, what
- 31:15Speaker 1: about
- 31:15Speaker 1: you?
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually had a similar experience. So that happened because, um,
- 31:20Speaker 2: one of my colleagues who turned close friend, but not
- 31:23Speaker 2: as close, so she asked me to be a bridesmaid.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Then my first reaction is like, oh, me, are you sure?
- 31:28Speaker 2: You know, honestly, I expected to attend, yeah, to attend
- 31:32Speaker 2: like a wedding dinner, so not become a job appointment
- 31:36Speaker 2: where I have to attend.
- 31:37Speaker 2: You know, like dress fitting, uh, you know, being pulled
- 31:40Speaker 2: into wedding group chat and also memorizing table arrangements. So
- 31:43Speaker 2: there were additional jobs that I had to do on
- 31:45Speaker 2: the wedding day itself, which I'm OK with doing that
- 31:48Speaker 2: because I, I feel like, oh, you know, during workplace,
- 31:50Speaker 2: at workplace we rant about our bosses, our colleagues, so
- 31:54Speaker 2: it kind of brought us close. Yeah, so if I
- 31:56Speaker 2: said no, then if I go back to the workplace,
- 31:58Speaker 2: it will be very awkward, kind of like, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 2: getting close again.
- 32:02Speaker 2: So eventually I said yes and also become like her
- 32:05Speaker 2: her dress fixer, her makeup runner to touch her up
- 32:09Speaker 2: yeah so eventually OK for the angbao and also for
- 32:12Speaker 2: the the bridesmaid gift I'm like, OK lah, worth it lah, huh.
- 32:16Speaker 2: So
- 32:18Speaker 1: you know, as much as people like to
- 32:21Speaker 1: Sometimes laugh when we say that yeah, Singapore, we got
- 32:24Speaker 1: racial harmony and kampong spirit. The online majority, the online
- 32:28Speaker 1: majority will always leave comments saying, you sure or not?
- 32:31Speaker 1: People always have something to say or not? Yeah, they'd
- 32:33Speaker 1: be like, Are you sure it's harmony or is it tolerance?
- 32:36Speaker 1: I always see this comment. That's the online sentiment. But
- 32:39Speaker 1: then you see things like this that happen in real
- 32:41Speaker 1: life and you go, actually, we got one. The kampong
- 32:45Speaker 1: spirit is still alive, as shown by these two aunties
- 32:49Speaker 1: over at Jurong.
- 32:51Speaker 1: They were neighbors for 23 years, OK. It's a Chinese
- 32:54Speaker 1: auntie and a Malay auntie, OK? They were neighbors. They
- 32:58Speaker 1: became besties. They shared about how their kids were growing up.
- 33:02Speaker 1: They will give each other cooking ingredients in case one
- 33:04Speaker 1: will run out, and then one is moving out, they
- 33:06Speaker 1: cry and they hug all this on the news and
- 33:09Speaker 1: the video was captured by the property agent. It's gone
- 33:12Speaker 1: viral on TikTok and it's so nice. This is, this
- 33:15Speaker 1: is the ultimate.
- 33:16Speaker 1: poster for racial harmony here in Singapore right there, right there. OK,
- 33:20Speaker 1: frankly speaking, right, I don't think I've ever formed a
- 33:22Speaker 1: bond with a neighbor like this before. Yeah, because I
- 33:26Speaker 1: didn't stay in one spot like growing up. I moved
- 33:28Speaker 1: around quite a bit. So I want to say to
- 33:30Speaker 1: Auntie Siti and to Auntie Lee, not their real names,
- 33:34Speaker 1: thank you for giving us, you know, faith in the
- 33:36Speaker 1: humanity situation here in Singapore. Cut, cutie pies. I want.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I aspire to be like that when I'm their age,
- 33:45Speaker 1: to have a neighbor that's like my bestie. So take
- 33:48Speaker 1: it this way, Auntie Siti and Auntie Lee, you are now,
- 33:50Speaker 1: you are now our neighbors. Yes, you're Singapore's neighbors. Even
- 33:53Speaker 1: though I stay in Bishan, Jurong. Oh, Jurong, OK, but
- 33:57Speaker 1: one is moving out somewhere else. Yeah. Oh, I wonder
- 33:59Speaker 1: where she's moving to. Exactly. She better not find a
- 34:01Speaker 1: new bestie. I'll feel quite betrayed if my friend did that.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Can you imagine if one is going to all the
- 34:06Speaker 1: Pasir Ris, to visit each other they must travel from
- 34:09Speaker 1: east to west or west to east, it could be
- 34:13Speaker 1: quite cute as you are, you know, retired, you just
- 34:17Speaker 1: want to spend time with your friends. Anyway, the video
- 34:19Speaker 1: is available for you on TikTok. I think it's got
- 34:21Speaker 1: plenty of shares, 1.5.
- 34:25Speaker 1: 5 million views already. Wow. That's it. They can kickstart
- 34:30Speaker 1: a channel now. Both of them, honestly. I selling the
- 34:34Speaker 1: wholesome kind. I was going to say about their travels
- 34:36Speaker 1: to meet each other they're far away, but OK, fine. OK,
- 34:40Speaker 1: time for some very bittersweet food news. I know, I know.
- 34:45Speaker 1: 123 food news, food news. Sonia with sad food news. Honestly,
- 34:53Speaker 1: if I had to do a weightage of positive and
- 34:55Speaker 1: negative food news, I think currently the negative outweighs the
- 34:59Speaker 1: positive because we've experienced a lot of closures, I think,
- 35:02Speaker 1: especially in 2026. I know it's scary.
- 35:05Speaker 1: But anyway, um, taking you over to Maxwell Food Center,
- 35:08Speaker 1: like I mentioned earlier, to which I, I just spent, um,
- 35:11Speaker 1: my Friday night there like two weeks ago with some friends.
- 35:14Speaker 1: We couldn't decide where to go. We were like, hey guys,
- 35:15Speaker 1: we walked past Maxwell Food Center, might as well just
- 35:17Speaker 1: like get some local delights, just share a bunch of stuff, um,
- 35:21Speaker 1: get a, get a bunch of beers and chill. Wonderful
- 35:23Speaker 1: so fun. Um, so you might have noticed this Ham
- 35:28Speaker 1: Jing Pen store before, OK. My parents love Ham Jing Ping.
- 35:31Speaker 1: My dad especially, I think he likes eating Ham Ji Ping.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Um, this, this particular store has a unique selling point though.
- 35:40Speaker 1: They used to let customers fry their own dough fritters. Yeah,
- 35:45Speaker 1: by the way, you know what it means, yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 1: So, no, but what I meant was the difference is
- 35:51Speaker 1: that they let you fry your own dough fritters. So
- 35:54Speaker 1: it's quite an experience, you know, and I think I've
- 35:56Speaker 1: seen before locals bring like people who are visiting Singapore
- 35:59Speaker 1: to go and experience that there a hot pot or
- 36:02Speaker 1: your own steamboat. But I would not trust Joakim to
- 36:05Speaker 1: fry his own dough fritters just, just in case.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I'm not a bad cook in that setting. Um, if
- 36:13Speaker 1: you are regulars of these, uh, snacks, um, you might
- 36:17Speaker 1: have to choose from another option now because China Street
- 36:20Speaker 1: Ham Jing Beng shuttered very quietly last week. They didn't
- 36:23Speaker 1: go out with any fanfare or anything. They didn't say anything, um,
- 36:27Speaker 1: but I, I think the stall's closure was actually shared
- 36:30Speaker 1: by another hawker that runs an oyster cake stall.
- 36:35Speaker 1: So someone actually shared it on, on socials. That's how it,
- 36:38Speaker 1: that's how it broke forever.
- 36:46Speaker 1: So a lot of customers have expressed their disappointment and
- 36:49Speaker 1: saying like, oh man, another childhood snack gone or another
- 36:53Speaker 1: place that I've been going to since I was a kid, gone,
- 36:55Speaker 1: it's a 4 year course people will be upset. See,
- 36:59Speaker 1: the problem is, I think it's getting increasingly more difficult
- 37:02Speaker 1: to find successors and to find
- 37:05Speaker 1: Um, affordable rents, perhaps, maybe, I don't know, could be
- 37:09Speaker 1: multiple reasons. Maybe they're just retiring, you know what I
- 37:11Speaker 1: mean is there you know.
- 37:22Speaker 1: So thank you for the memories, you guys. So to
- 37:24Speaker 1: prepare you for Avengers doomsday, oh, we're gonna rewatch some stuff,
- 37:28Speaker 1: I'm sure. Yeah, there'll be loads of it available for
- 37:31Speaker 1: you on Disney Plus, but the Avengers Endgame film that
- 37:36Speaker 1: was released in 2019.
- 37:38Speaker 1: There's gonna be an encore version out in cinemas worldwide
- 37:42Speaker 1: September 25th onwards, and apparently there'll be 4 minutes of
- 37:47Speaker 1: additional footage that might tie in to Avengers Doomsday. That
- 37:53Speaker 1: was not released. No. Oh, interesting. OK. And the one
- 37:57Speaker 1: line that now has better impact and more impact.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Said by Robert Downey Junior's Tony Stark, you mess with time,
- 38:04Speaker 1: time tends to mess back. And there's lots of speculation
- 38:09Speaker 1: that in Avengers Doomsday, Robert Downey Junior is playing a
- 38:13Speaker 1: variant of Doctor Doom and that the real Doctor Doom
- 38:17Speaker 1: is played by Cillian Murphy. Whoa, that's so cool.
- 38:22Speaker 1: All these fans who were analyzing like the eye, the
- 38:25Speaker 1: eye colors and all that. No, it's really interesting. Yeah,
- 38:28Speaker 1: you know what, I'll just wait for these detectives to
- 38:32Speaker 1: do the work and then I'll read about it later.
- 38:34Speaker 1: And look, it's about time Cillian Murphy has a Marvel
- 38:37Speaker 1: Cinematic Universe role. He's a fantastic actor. So let's hope
- 38:40Speaker 1: the rumors are true. Yeah, yeah, let's see. Only one
- 38:42Speaker 1: way to find out. We got to wait.
