- 0:13SPEAKER_02: How's it going, Steve?
- 0:14SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's Jeff, it's going so great.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: You know, I gotta tell you, we are we're you know, we are gonna succeed so big with this podcast.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: We are gonna be so big, we're gonna be bigger, bigger than that MMA fighter, comedian, podcaster guy.
- 0:27SPEAKER_02: And you know how I know that?
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: Because I have welcomed so many new listeners to the show.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: I've welcomed uh a couple of family members, I've welcomed two friends that I really hadn't talked to in a while, and I and I welcomed a total stranger, you know.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: It's just it's so nice.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: We're we're uniting people, we're doing good work, we're bringing people together, we're causing that unity, we're creating the ties.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: Jeff, it's so good.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: It is, and you know, and I feel like we're building momentum, you know, like you could track us if you if you took a chart and you saw from the time we had that guest, what two, two or three episodes ago where we had a couple guests that were under five years old.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then last week, last week we end up with a 13-year-old.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, and you know, I mean, if it wasn't for child labor laws, we might be doing this on a regular basis.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: We'd be making even more money than we are.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: We would be making more money, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: But uh, I I think today we're I think we're gonna be talking to an adult.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: Yes, I'm not sure, are we?
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes, we are, Jeff.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Jeff, tonight, tonight we have a special guest.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: You know, we talk a lot about some of the big issues, the big crises that people are dealing with.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: But I thought for tonight, kind of like last show where we talked to some like a just a regular person, you know, I thought tonight we'd make it a little more personal.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: Jeff, I've got somebody, I've got somebody on our show tonight who is an old friend of mine, in fact, an old girlfriend of mine.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: I'd like to introduce, and you can wave versus on the other side of the glass, say hi, you're here.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Let me tap the glass here a little bit.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Hear that?
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna say hello to Elizabeth Parker.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Elizabeth, or should I call you Megan?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, Steve.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Steve.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: It's been a long time, hasn't it, Meg?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: It's it's been a minute.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: It's been a minute, yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: Hi, Megan.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: I this is this is a treat for me because I've been on a date with Steve.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: No, well, I wasn't dating Steve, but we've been on a double date before, and I found it fascinating and it it really stuck with me.
- 2:37SPEAKER_03: It was back when I was in my teens.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: So I'm really interested to know what it's like being uh the girlfriend to to Steve.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Well, well, well, Jeff, Jeff, this was right shortly after that double day you're talking about is when Meg and I met.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: So not too far after that.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: So, Meg, what was it like?
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I know what it was like, but but tell Jeff, what was it like?
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, it uh it it was a minute ago.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: And and just for the record and and for the audience, girlfriend, that that could maybe that was like a stretch.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Oh well, I was pretty limber back then.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: And and anybody that I've had sex with in my life, I consider my girlfriend.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: So uh, you know, I'm I'm not saying that you did with Steve, but you know, I know Steve was very promiscuous back in his you know early years.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, oh Jeff, Jeff.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: Uh let's let's let's keep the let's keep it PG here, Jeff.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: You know, this is okay.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: We have we have those kids.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: Listen, remember all those kids, the zero to five demographic that all those advertisers want.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: If we make it too too adult, we'll lose that demographic, we'll lose the big ads for the for the gumballs, the children's medicine.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, yeah, we don't want to do that.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: Don't want to do that.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: So did I say promiscuous?
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: I meant arithmetic.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's what I meant.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: You meant precipitous.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I did.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: That's exactly what I meant.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: But but but I digress.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: But but Elizabeth or Meg, gosh, going out with me, that was what was that like?
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what what was that like?
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, that that was that's a great question.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And I I just really I appreciate you reaching out to me on Facebook and asking me to be on your show.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, and and listen, thanks for coming on because you know, we haven't talked in a while, and I I really I really did mean to call you.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, all those years ago, but you know, but but but I digress.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: But uh, you know, I'm trying to remember.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: We went out, gosh, we must have gone out for two months, was it?
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe well, no, it was my sense of time, you know, it's it was a little, it was a while ago.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to remember it might it might be like a biblical two months, you know, like you know how like in the Bible, it's like a week is really 10 years, you know.
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: Maybe it was less less than two months from that standpoint.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: Elizabeth, are you married now?
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: Uh do you have family?
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: You have a family now that you know all these years have passed.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: What's been going on with you?
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, um, I was married to a wonderful person um that we're not married anymore.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: And I have two kids, two boys, Brody and Jaden, and they're fantastic.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: Wow, wow, gosh, a lot's happened, hasn't it, there, Meg?
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, wow, man.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: Say, did you you didn't marry somebody that that we knew back in the day, did you?
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'm just I'm just wondering.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Peter, do you remember Peter?
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: Pete Peter Peter Baskin?
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Peter Baskin?
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Peter Baskin.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: You married Peter Baskin?
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: I didn't.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: I married Peter Baskin.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Do you remember his locker?
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: It was kind of like kind of right by our locker.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: He was right.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: He was like, and he would, he would always he'd like jam like all my books in the locker, and he'd jam random stuff in the locker.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: And and one day he broke off, he got this key at the hardware store and broke it off in the locker, and so I couldn't open it.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Peter is a swell guy.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: I remember Peter, yeah.
- 6:23SPEAKER_03: And and where do you guys where do you guys live now?
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: Or I'm sorry, I know you're you're not with him anymore, but where do you live now, Elizabeth?
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: I live in Ocala, Florida.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, wow.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: Horse country.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: Uh capital, capital of the horse industry.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Uh here.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: That's fascinating.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: Your your your Facebook's at Austin, Texas.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: So I'm wondering about that.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: But okay, but I digress.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: But it doesn't matter.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: Um, but but I I'm trying to remember.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: We like some of the great dates we went on.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: Oh man, we went some cool places, didn't we?
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: I at least I seems like we did.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I I'm I'm trying to remember.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Do we we went out?
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Let me think, maybe was it twice we went out?
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Well, I remember standing next to you in the lunch line every day.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was count as dates.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: So we went out hundreds of times, probably.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, all through the line.
- 7:17SPEAKER_03: Did he buy did he buy lunch?
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's I don't I don't really remember.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: That was it was a while back.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: But no, I I'm I'm very progressive.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: I I might have ended up buying his lunch a couple of times.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: I think I remember, you know, yeah, he needed a little bit of some change.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: I did, I did.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: See, see, see how progressive I am.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: I let her buy me lunch.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, more than once, too.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Let me tell you, more than once.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: I'm kind of surprised that it it didn't last.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: I I think we were maybe 17, was it?
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it had to be because I was driving my dad's old Pontiac, you know.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Remember that Pontiac Convertible?
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: Oh gosh, that was a great car, wasn't it?
- 7:59SPEAKER_03: Man, so Steve, you were so you were what a freshman?
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: 17.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: Um, what would I have been?
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: I you know, I I I don't know.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: I I don't know, you know, I I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the class designations because I've really not never been that into the labeling in class distinction, you know what I mean?
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: And and I didn't pay a lot of attention to the classes or the class requirements or the education part of all that, but I was really there more for for you know for uh to meet people like Meg, you know, to really hate and relate and have lunch.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: I love lunch.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: I still love lunch, I've always loved lunch.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: Lunch is great.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: I sometimes I I'm I'm uh Meg and I'm married.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: Um and uh sometimes I ask Kathy to wear one of those nets, hair nets that the lunch ladies wear.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Um when I was there's nothing hotter to see them, you know, slop in, slop on like mashed potatoes, you know, that are almost like soup.
- 8:57SPEAKER_03: Um it's it it just brings back so many good memories.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: Oh gosh, you know, you know, Jeff, funny you should say that because one day, one day at school, I don't know if you remember this, Meg, but one day at school, I drove my mom's old 65 Impala, you know, and you know how I feel about that car, who still to this day.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: And and one of the lunch ladies was coming out right as I was leaving.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: She was leaving and she still had the hairnet on.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: And oh my gosh, between the Impala and the hairnet, I practically hit like a I was going like two miles an hour, I practically hit a car, you know?
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: It was just I I it was more than I could handle.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: I don't know if you're you remember that, Meg?
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: I think you I think you were in the car with me, were you?
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: I I I have I think I do remember that.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know if I was necessarily with you, but I I think that um, you know, I think that that was kind of circling around that you almost hit Lucy, our lunch lady, the yeah, favorite lunch lady of the entire school.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: Oh oh yeah, she was like like those bartenders with the heavy pour, you know, she had a heavy spoon on the uh on the mac and cheese, you know.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: She'd get the mac and cheese.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Most of them, most of them would give you like a little bit.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Oh, Lucy, yeah, she'd slap it out there.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: So she'd give you uh yeah, more than you could eat sometimes, you know.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: It was good.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: She was really good.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: She was great.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and the best part was I at least ours.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: I was in a different school, but you know, you'd flirt a little bit with them and they'd throw a little extra mashed potatoes your way.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: And sometimes an extra fish stick, you know, would would end up on your plate.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: She'd give you a little wink, and uh, you know, kind of made my day.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: Well, you see, I was I was always really bad at flirting, as you know, Meg would probably tell you.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: But so I used to have I used to have Meg do the flirting.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: Meg would flirt with Lucy, and then we'd both get like the benefits.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: It was it was cool, it was really cool.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: Lucy was, you know, I I for lunch almost every day I had nachos, and you know, she'd give me a little extra nacho cheese.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no, no charge.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh man, man, those were the days, weren't they?
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Just got that extra nacho cheese.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: Your whole afternoon, didn't it?
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: Because you got, oh, I got some, I got another spoonful of nacho cheese here.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: That the liquid and that stuff's good, man.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: That's a healthy for you.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: You know, you know, and speaking of food, speaking of food, Jeff, we've got we have a repeat sponsor, we have a returning sponsor, somebody that not only bought an ad, but bought another ad.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: I mean, they came back, they came back, and and it's a perfect sponsor because you know it's been like a hundred degrees and no rain and drought and all this.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: And what's the perfect food you want when it's a hundred degrees outside?
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: Soup.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: You want hot Vietnamese soup.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: That's exactly right.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: Because it's kind of like being a contrarian, you know.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: You think, okay, when when it's hot, when it's cold, everybody's gonna want that soup.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: But no, I'm gonna get it now, and then I will have it when it's cost less now, when it's hot, and then when it's cold and everybody else wants it, you know, I'll probably have to buy more because I'm gonna eat it, but but but I digress, but you it's still being like a contrarian, you know what I mean?
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: So listen, let's let's uh here, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, let's, let's go to commercial.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: If you want the best Vietnamese pho soup in the metro area, try some hearty pho at the King of Asian Fusion, Fa King.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: Bring your friends and enjoy the Fa King ambience.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Or if you're in a hurry, you can take some home from our special pha king drive-thru.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Serve your whole family with a pha king kettle, or spoil yourself with our individual serving pha cups.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: Our loyal customers often have a pho cup at home, a pha cup in the car, or even a pha cup at work.
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: Wherever you go, you can have a pha cup of your very own.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: And we're more than just pho and pha king.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: We also have pha king barbecue, fa king salads, and pha king sandwiches.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Everything we serve is made with our own special pha king love and care.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: Join our king and queen club, and we will treat you like pha king royalty.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: You haven't had pho until you've had pha king pha.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: It's not just good, it's fa king good.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: Well, Jeff, I don't know about you, but I, you know, hundred degrees or no hundred degrees, I want some hot Vietnamese soup.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: Nothing better than that.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: And you know, it's isn't that the way I'm not a biology expert or scientist or anything, but you get some of that hot soup on a hundred-degree uh you know, temperature weather, and you you just automatically start cooling down as just the sweat pours down your face.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: It's it kind of it kind of equalizes you, you know?
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: It does.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: It's like drinking coffee on a hot day.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's just it's it it works, but but but I digress, but but Megan, Megan, I I don't think I ever met your parents.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: You know, we went out, we were so close in high school, and I don't think I ever met your parents.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: I don't even know if you came to my house, Steve.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: I did you come to my house?
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Let me think.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: Wait, oh you know what?
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: You're you're not in that big white house, are you?
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: You were in, you know, I don't know if I did.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: Where where your house was we were in different neighborhoods, weren't we?
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I lived in the yellow house on the corner.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: Oh Bueller Street.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I remember, yeah, I remember the house.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Drove by there sometimes.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: I almost hit somebody in front of that house one time, too.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: But that's that's a different story.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: But uh that was in my mom's car.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, but yeah, I don't think I was ever in that house.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: Are your parents still alive?
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, they they still live in that yellow house on Bueller Street.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, tell me.
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: We ought to do a podcast there sometime.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we should do a remote, a remote podcast.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we'll go out to the house.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: Tell them hi for me.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, you know, I don't know if they you know know who I am or even knew who I was then, but but tell them hi, you know.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: I I will definitely make sure that now that you're semi kind of famous with your own podcast, I'm yeah, I'm sure they'd love to listen.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure they'll they'll probably listen to this since I'm on the air with you.
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: I I bet they will.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: I bet they will.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: And and so Jeff, we can start to to develop that that older demographic because you know, we're pretty old, and we really should start developing an older demographic for you know, as we get older, you know.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: I know exactly what you're saying.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: Megan, I I'm just gonna take a shot here.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: You know, I don't know you very well, but we've been speaking to you for what about 15 minutes or 20 minutes.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: Sounds like there's still something there with Steve.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: I know Steve's married, I know that you're not, but it sounds like you still, you know, have that interest in Steve.
- 16:05SPEAKER_03: And you know, my feeling, my philosophy is you you need to really go for it, even if it doesn't happen right now.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: I think it's just you know, love is something that you just can't waste and you should never forget about.
- 16:18unknown: Yeah.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: You know, if he wasn't married, maybe because you know, when you're divorced and and you're our age, you know, that dating pool kind of gets pretty shallow.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: That's a big drought, big drought there.
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let me tell you.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: Well, he's in Nebraska too.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: I I don't know, Steve, uh the the marital laws in Nebraska, I think it's probably okay that she starts uh you know joining you and your and your current wife.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: Well, there is there is a small loophole in Nebraska law that if you are a direct descendant of a settler, that you can have multiple wives.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: It's it's a it's a literally it's it's a narrow road, you know.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: You gotta drive very pretty carefully down that road, but but there is that exception, so it's theoretically possible.
- 17:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and Megan, half of Steve is well, I don't know what that is.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: Would that be a quarter with anyone else?
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: That'd be about a quarter of your basket.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's uh okay.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I'm not good with uh with measurements.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: I've never been, you know, much of a baker, but but I think it would be worth your worth your while.
- 17:25SPEAKER_03: And um, you know, maybe ought to just pack things up from Ocala and start heading west.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Maybe we could just start like a little bit of a long distance chat before I go back to the snow.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: Well, that would that would be good.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: You know, we could we could start talking about old times, about the you know, the lunches and all those times we spent together, which I'm kind of hoping you remember some of them, because I I was thinking we we saw each other a lot, but it was mostly like, hi Elizabeth, hi Steve.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: You know, I I sometimes no memory is kind of a good memory, yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: I went to a party in the 80s I have no memory of, and I am really glad that I have no memory of that party.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes, sure, I sure am.
- 18:11SPEAKER_03: Well, you know, Steve is shy about this, doesn't like to brag, but um I don't know back when you were dating him, was he able to tell the future?
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: You know, because he can he's really good at that right now.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: And um, you know, Steve probably has a little bit of insight as to where this relationship could eventually go.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: Did I did I tell you back then that I was from the future?
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: I'm not certain that I remember that.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: Or you know, when I was just thought that made you a little crazy.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: I'm not yeah, well, you know, I was, but but you know, when I was a kid, I used to hide it.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: My parents told me, don't tell anybody that you're from the future because they'll think you're nuts.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: Okay, don't do that.
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: And so I kind of didn't, I did a little, but I I didn't make a big deal about it.
- 19:02SPEAKER_02: So yeah, maybe maybe I didn't tell you.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't, I'm not so sure.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: I remember that.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: I think that would have been something that I would remember, you know, something that would stand out in my mind.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: And yeah, oh, I would think so.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Future, Steve.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: Well, Megan, Elizabeth, I'm I'm I'm from the future.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: That's fantastic.
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: Isn't that though?
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: I I tell you, you know, and it's it's it's a burden to know what's going to happen.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: And sometimes I can tell people, but sometimes they're better off not knowing, right, Jeff?
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: Like your medical records.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, just don't look, don't look.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: That's so true.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: Absolutely true.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: And so Megan, it sounds like you guys are off to a good start.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: And yeah, I mean, I know there are some complications, there are some hurdles, yeah, you know, but but I can hear, I hear the flame, you know, I could feel the flame is still there.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: I can feel the heat from that flame.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: And uh I would be surprised at all if somewhere down the road, Steve, you would know this more than me, whether this show will become the Steve and Jeff and Megan podcast.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: Um, I I could see that happening.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: We should reserve the name, but I it's it's a little cloudy.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, most of the time I can see pretty clearly, but this is a little cloudy.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: I don't know, but but I think we are on to a good start.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Yes, I think we are, because we're now we're talking about the real things, talking about the the emotions, talking about the feelings, talking about the experience, and and that can only be good.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: It yeah, I can I ask a question, future Steve.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: Should I buy the lottery ticket tomorrow?
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: If you can get to Taylor Liquors in Des Plains, Illinois, you should definitely buy the ticket.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll have to Google that drive.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: It's worth the trip.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: It'd be worth an airline ticket.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: You want two airline tickets, in fact.
- 21:02SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's a good price.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Okay, yes, Taylor Liquors, Des Plains, Illinois.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: I think it's on uh I think it's on River Road.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: I I it's been so long since I've been there.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: I I don't remember, but but it's around there somewhere.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think you'll you'll find it.
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: So I know I've been there for that.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: You know, they sell it in those jugs, those gallon jugs that uh well you know, when it's really the good high holidays, I just can't get enough.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's why they call it the high holidays, you know.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: You're knocking them back and doing some edibles.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: So, you know, wow.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: You know, it's it's it's kind of emotional to see an old girlfriend that maybe okay, maybe we never really went out in the technical sense of the word, but but still of the high school, you mean out of our lunch line.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we we pretty much stayed in.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Line.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: We're you know, we're good kids.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, there were some bad kids.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: Peter, uh, you know, he was one he's one of the bad kids, as you found out, right?
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: I I learned my lesson there.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: See, yeah, you should have asked Future Steve back then.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: It's like, hey, should I marry this guy?
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: Good, no, no, do not, no, no.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I you know, I maybe I shouldn't have been laughing when I saw him breaking off keys in people's lockers, and yeah, could have learned my lesson there.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: It was it was impressive, you know, because he was on the lacrosse team, right?
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: Lacrosse, right?
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, so everybody thought he was a big dude, right?
- 22:37SPEAKER_02: But see, history, history tells, time tells.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: It's interesting, you know.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: In in time, all is revealed.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: And right now I'm feeling a combination of love, love in the air, and also a desire for patty melt.
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: You know, I remember those patty melts.
- 22:57SPEAKER_03: Oh god, that's they were just the best.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure exactly what was on top of it.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: I think we we went to school with Patty Melt, too.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: Her name was uh Patty Melatonin back then, I think was but she shortened it, you know.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember, I remember Patty.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: I think she shortened it when she formed the rock group, you know.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: I think Steve, she's gonna is she playing at our at our reunion?
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Oh our reunion's coming up, that's right.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, I have to I have to reserve a spot at the reunion.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, I think she is playing at the reunion.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: I thought I thought I saw that on Facebook, maybe.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: Patty Melt and the cheeseburgers.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, my they're they are, you know, it's it's kind of a Susie Quantra ripoff a little bit, but you know, but they're good, you know, you know what I mean?
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: I mean, they're okay.
- 23:45SPEAKER_03: Excellent.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: Well, it's it's been wonderful meeting you, Megan.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this has been very enlightening.
- 23:51SPEAKER_03: Steve, I'm yeah, so impressed with the the quality of women that you've shared lunch with.
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: You know, Megan's just the best.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and there's it's just you know, it's it's the luck of random locker assignments.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: Our names aren't even alphabetical or anything, but there we were.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: We had lockers next to each other.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, I think they learned their lesson.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Remember a couple years before us when they did have lockers by alphabet, alphabetical order, and then all the carries got in that big fight.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:28SPEAKER_02: Well, they were oh they were they were a miserable bunch, weren't they?
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: I remember them.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness, yeah.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, everybody fought with some some carry.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: I fought with probably two of them, I think, but over the years, you know?
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, no, they were miserable.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, gosh, I'm I'm feeling so prophetic here with this touch with the past and then thinking toward the future.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: And I I you know, I I'm not supposed to be a prophet for a couple hundred years now, so I I I'm not sure what to do, but but I really think that this could go somewhere, Megan.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: You know, I mean, I think we could find a cafeteria maybe and go to lunch.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe a cafeteria into plain Illinois.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: You know, Taylor Liquors, they got a there's a buffet right next door.
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, one of those old old old country or old uh old Dixie or whatever, one of those buffets, you know.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, they go right next door.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: And I bet, you know, I bet they have a heavy hand too with the mac and cheese, you know.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: That's the nice thing about buffets.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: I guess you can get as much as you want.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: Well, gosh, I think it's like relationships.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: I bet that's right, that's right.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: They're so similar, it's so profound.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: You know, you stand online for a long time, but then once you get there, you can grab it all.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: And you know, you heard that here first, okay?
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: That's uh wow.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: And see that that MMA guy, he's not giving out philosophy like that.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Oh no, no, no.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: He's just sitting there, I did an edible.
- 26:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, you know, uh, this guy's funny, this guy's not funny.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: You know, I come on, come on.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: We're talking real issues here, real people.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Gosh, and well, well, gosh, we're almost out of time.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: And this is we're we're gonna get booted here from the studio, but but Elizabeth, so good to see you again.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: And uh we'll we'll we'll get to that diner.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: I hear a cafeteria in our future.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: Thanks so much.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: Thanks for reaching out on Facebook and inviting me to be on your show.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: It's it was a surprise, you know.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: Well, that's yeah, I you know, I love surprises and listen, tell your parents to listen.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: That could double our audience, really.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, seriously, that could be great.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I'm sure they will, I'm sure they'll listen for sure.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: All right, good.
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: It was nice meeting you, Megan.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Nice meeting you too, Jeff.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: We'll be back next time with another guest.
- 26:51SPEAKER_02: Talk to you then.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: Bye now.
