- 0:00Speaker 1: Time for the ex pole.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Yes it is.
- 0:03Speaker 1: We decided to try to do something not political for
- 0:06the ex Pole. We didn't want to actually do an
- 0:08x pole about the election, so we picked something totally
- 0:10different and liberals. The expoll question is simply this, what
- 0:16is your favorite weird smell?
- 0:18Speaker 3: Now, we use the word weird here to differentiate because
- 0:22there are what are considered traditionally good smells, like flowers
- 0:27or lemons, or cake or cake and things like that,
- 0:31you know, turkey, yeah, stuff like that. This is something
- 0:36that you enjoy the smell of that is not traditional.
- 0:41Speaker 4: I can, I can explain here's my weird smell, okay,
- 0:44that I actually.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Like before you tell it, Todd, go ahead.
- 0:47Speaker 4: So the weird smell and I enjoyed it. The other night,
- 0:49I was officiating a football game in rural Spanish fork okay,
- 0:54oh sorry, and I realized the smell it's poop, it's
- 0:57it's uh farm farm manure smell.
- 1:01Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I've gone my entire life getting away from it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Too, Like I grew up in Hooper. But that maybe
- 1:06that's why it was so like it was still plant
- 1:09like that just smells like home.
- 1:10Speaker 6: Oh it did.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I was just like.
- 1:14Speaker 3: And when I'm down in the old stomping grounds. That's
- 1:18not what I think when I smell that. Someone else
- 1:20I texted in horse manure. Yeh see, I tried so
- 1:22hard to get away from that smell.
- 1:24Speaker 2: It's just that and it's not all just like pooh.
- 1:26Speaker 4: It's maybe like silage and silence is a different smell
- 1:30is pretty good.
- 1:31Speaker 3: That's that's one that I used to enjoy the smell
- 1:33of the for the wrong reasons. But anyway, here's one
- 1:37vinegar to me, there is no better smell in a
- 1:41close second. You can't go wrong with ammonia.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Oh now, vinegar, I could see. But ammonia, that's too
- 1:47much w D forty Now that is similar to mine, okay,
- 1:52which is gasoline. I love the smell.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Of smell, Yes, that kind of do toube?
- 1:58Speaker 1: You're right, I love the smell of gasoline.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Hmmm, fresh rain on hot cement or asphalt.
- 2:03Speaker 2: That is good.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Oh, puppy, fredo feet if you have a puppy, you
- 2:08know what they're talking about.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Uh Now, my wife reminds me mechanic oil is hers.
- 2:15Her dad was. Her dad was an aircraft mechanic, and
- 2:18it reminds.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of similar to gasoline or wd fodacle. That's
- 2:22all kind of the same.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Let's go to Gus.
- 2:25Speaker 7: Hello, Gus, Hello, thanks for let me listen.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Thank you. What's your favorite weird smell?

- 2:38classic grap Really, I didn't realize it has a smell.
- 2:42Speaker 1: It for sure has a smell.
- 2:44Speaker 5: So like when I go to the deli and I

- 2:49I will literally smell.
- 2:50Speaker 8: It for a minute.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I'm going to try that. It sounds funw.

- 3:10Speaker 9: I grew up.
- 3:10Speaker 8: My grandparents had a cabin in Idaho with a basement
- 3:13that was like probably not properly designed for the water,
- 3:18see bitch that would come into concrete walls, so it
- 3:21constantly smelled mildewy. But I grew up with that smell
- 3:26and I love it.
- 3:29Speaker 6: Grandparents.
- 3:31Speaker 8: My kids are the same, Like we go to black cabin.
- 3:34Now they opened the basement door and they're like, it's
- 3:37good to be back.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Those spores of mold.
- 3:43Speaker 8: Like, there's no black mold down, they're just damp.
- 3:46Speaker 1: We'll do all right, thanks rangers, Kate.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I worry now. Let's see and I see people are
- 3:54saying vanilla. No, that's not weird.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Smell.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Vanilla is a pleasant.
- 4:00Speaker 4: I like this text or the smell of an old,
- 4:02greasy roller coaster chain.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Oh, that's good.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I can smell that when you say those words.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I can smell exactly the wooden roller coaster lagoon.
- 4:11Speaker 2: That's good.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I went right there.
- 4:12Speaker 2: That's a good one.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Right.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It's the ex pole And we were trying to do
- 4:17something that's not political and just sort of silly, and
- 4:21you are all participating. You can continue to let us know.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I love the smell of an old, musty library or
- 4:27old books.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yes, I like that one.
- 4:32Speaker 3: At my favorite little Heidi Whole restaurant over here the
- 4:36rest which is it's an underground secret restaurant, and they
- 4:40have it's an old bank, and in the back they
- 4:42have this library filled with all of these old books
- 4:45and leather bound chairs and all that, and it smells exactly.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Love that smell.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Right, that's good.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Let's see odd smell that. I love Pokemon cards. I've
- 4:55collected Pokemon cards since I was a kid. I'm thirty five,
- 4:58and whatever cards dot if they use just smells really
- 5:01good to me. Also, the smell has never changed over
- 5:03the years, which is interesting because they're still using the
- 5:05same card stock.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I used to like the smell of cassette tapes when
- 5:09you get them brand new. They would they just had
- 5:12that good plastic whatever it was. In records too, when
- 5:15you get to open a fresh records like Mike is here, Mike, Mike.

- 5:26Speaker 3: You Mike, go ahead.
- 5:28Speaker 9: Yeah. Well, I was in the military and I used
- 5:32to have to shine my shoes every day, and I
- 5:35still enjoy shining my shoes even to this this day.
- 5:38And I love the smell shoe polish.
- 5:40Speaker 6: Shoe polish. Yeah, I can see that.

- 5:55Speaker 3: All right, Braiden is here.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Hello, Braiden.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Hello, I what's your favorite weird smell?
- 6:02Speaker 10: So I recently moved into a house that was built
- 6:05in like the early nineteen hundreds, and so it's like
- 6:08that weird like old wood house smell, like the old
- 6:13carpet and the old wood and all that. So it
- 6:16doesn't it doesn't go away, even just like candles and
- 6:19things like that. Yeah, but I love it all right.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Hey, thanks Brady, Thank you.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Ryan.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Hello, Ryan, good morning.
- 6:26Speaker 11: Thanks for letting me listen.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Find Ryan, what's what's the weird smell that you like?
- 6:32Speaker 10: So?
- 6:32Speaker 11: Mine is the combination of two smells. Actually, Okay, So
- 6:36my grandmother was a smoker her entire life, lived in
- 6:40ninety four, So figure that one out. She used to
- 6:44do laundry with tied detergent, yes, and she would smoke
- 6:48while she did her laundry her house quite a lot.
- 6:52So the combination of the laundry detergent and the cigarette
- 6:56smoke would be on the blankets and the clothes and
- 6:58the pillowcases. And for some reason that smell is just
- 7:02very comforting.
- 7:03Speaker 1: To remind your grandma.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I get it.
- 7:07Speaker 11: He was a wonderful woman, mister Dearly.
- 7:09Speaker 3: All right, there you go.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Smoke and tie.

- 7:22Speaker 6: A weird smell.
- 7:24Speaker 10: Well, back in the.
- 7:25Speaker 7: Late nineties, I used to play Magic the Gathering, and
- 7:29every time I open a new pack, before I'd even
- 7:32look at the cards, I just sit there and smell
- 7:34them for a couple of minutes until the smell wore off,
- 7:36and then then I'd get to see what my brand
- 7:39new cards were. I still remember that smell to this day.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I wonder if they smell the same as the Pokemon
- 7:44cards or if those are different, different cards smell.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah, go to a go to a shop and pick
- 7:49them up.
- 7:50Speaker 7: I think they're made by the same people, so hopefully.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Could be thank you, thank you.

- 8:13Speaker 10: I can just open that bottle and leave it in
- 8:15the house.
- 8:17Speaker 1: That's your air freshener.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I don't even own a gun, but
- 8:22when I smell that stuff.
- 8:23Speaker 7: It just reminds you of my grandfather.

- 8:47building when I lived up in Roy, when had an
- 8:51onion field next to it, and every once in a
