- 0:27We are back for five questions with ABJ and we are here at the
- 0:30Worldwide Dojo for some High Tension Wrestling taping and I'm
- 0:34here today with. Brave Billy Avery professional
- 0:37wrestler, promoter of Labour of. Love, Labour of Love has a lot
- 0:42of great stuff coming up, especially Mania weekend, so
- 0:45make sure you go follow Labour of Love mostly on Instagram, but
- 0:48we'll get into all that in a moment.
- 0:50So the first question here is what is your current goal in
- 0:53life? What's my current goal in life?
- 0:55Well, for Labour of Love, I think, I think it is probably to
- 0:58be. I want to be known as maybe the
- 1:00number one indie in in the city. I feel like outside, at least
- 1:06when we started outside of the major companies like WWEAW,
- 1:11there was not a lot of wrestling happening in Philadelphia.
- 1:15So, you know, I wanted to create Labour of Love and I hope we're,
- 1:20we're filling that void a little bit.
- 1:22So yeah, I mean, that's my current goal.
- 1:24I I I hope Labor of love continues to grow.
- 1:27Awesome. Yeah.
- 1:28What are you currently doing to achieve this goal?
- 1:31Man, promoting shows, booking wrestlers that I think that are
- 1:36talented on the rise, putting together cards I think stand out
- 1:41and that people want to come to. Yeah, social media, figuring
- 1:48that out, doing the best I can with that.
- 1:51But yeah, I I'm hopeful that if I continue doing that, then
- 1:55labor of love will kind of naturally grow and more people
- 1:59will be aware. Of it, absolutely.
- 2:00What is currently a possible is possibly holding you back or a
- 2:03distraction from your current goal.
- 2:06Oh man, it's a really good question.
- 2:10I mean, I'm not going to, I'm not going to lie.
- 2:12I definitely suffer from some anxiety.
- 2:16I also like I'm diagnosed with like OCD and it's some days are
- 2:19really difficult, especially if you want to put on a show you, I
- 2:25guess in your mind you have a vision for it and it's really
- 2:27hard, especially in wrestling, things come up.
- 2:31They always say the card is subject to change.
- 2:32So when you are, you kind of have OCD like that or you're a
- 2:36little bit obsessive compulsive as I am, it's, it's, it's
- 2:40difficult to kind of navigate that, but do my best with it,
- 2:45yeah. What Who are What currently
- 2:48motivates or inspires you? So I think the the community in
- 2:53Philadelphia inspires me. I previously we've donated all
- 2:59the proceeds from our event after paying talent to various
- 3:02local organizations. That's, you know, I'm never
- 3:05looking for labour of love to be profitable.
- 3:08I have a full time job. Wrestling is really a passion
- 3:10project and if I'm able to give back to the local community that
- 3:15we're having these shows in, you know that that is something that
- 3:20I'm looking to do. The the local community inspires
- 3:24me. Also, just like I'm from the I
- 3:28grew up going to a lot of punk shows, played in punk bands.
- 3:31So kind of the punk, punk rock ethos, I would say inspires me
- 3:36very much too, yeah. And the shows are very heavily
- 3:39mixed with that punk rock vibe and the music and the bands with
- 3:42wrestling and totally and the craft beer.
- 3:44It's everything I love. It's literally everything I
- 3:46love. It's my labor of love.
- 3:49What are you currently grateful for and are you happy?
- 3:52I'm definitely happy. I'm grateful for the people that
- 3:54continue to come out to our shows, grateful for people like
- 3:57you that want to cover it. I'm grateful for the talent that
- 4:02they inspire me to the talent. I'm just I've seen a lot of
- 4:05growth for some of the performers.
- 4:09But no, I mean, without them, without the fans, labour of love
- 4:12wouldn't be possible. So very, yeah.
- 4:16Yeah, well, where can people find and support you?
- 4:19Labour of Love is on Instagram. That's kind of all we have.
- 4:23It's Instagram, I guess was it at Labour of Love PHL?
- 4:27That's really the only place. But on there can get you know,
- 4:31fine the link for tickets, things like that and constantly
- 4:35updating that and find out when our next shows are beyond
- 4:38WrestleMania week. Awesome.
- 4:40Well, that's going to do it for five questions.
- 4:42ABJ, We'll catch you next time. So you stuck around and you're
- 5:26rewarded for your actions. We had the little bonus question
- 5:29here. So one of the things I'm very
- 5:31passionate about is it's, it's not always what the fans see,
- 5:34right? The fans come and they get to
- 5:35sit in the the crowd and they get to, they feel the energy of
- 5:39the locker room. And if you build a good locker
- 5:42or build a good environment, it shows in your product in the
- 5:44show. What is Labour of Love doing
- 5:46differently or maybe similar to other locker rooms you've been
- 5:48in, to make it stand out or make talent want to be there?
- 5:51I mean, I, I think I want Labour of Love to be as inclusive as it
- 5:56possibly can. I don't want anyone talent OR
- 5:58fans to feel like because they're they're gay or bisexual
- 6:03or trans to feel like they're excluded or they don't belong
- 6:06there. That is like my absolute biggest
- 6:09fear. So I mean, I, I lay that down
- 6:11pretty in our talent meetings before the show.
- 6:14I'm like, no sexist, no homophobic, no transphobic
- 6:18bullshit, racist, shit like that.
- 6:22And no, I mean, I think that's something I, I, we pride
- 6:25ourselves on. We want town to be feel
- 6:27comfortable. We want them to be there
- 6:29themselves. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:31Well, that translates to the audience and and I'm really
- 6:33looking forward to it. Please search Labor of Love.
- 6:36There's their shows all the time, but Mania weekends coming
- 6:38up really fast. There's going to be shows
- 6:40Wednesday and Thursday, April. 3rd and 4th at Attic Brewing
- 6:43Company in Germantown, which is I guess northeast and I've.
- 6:47Had attic beer, it's fantastic. I used to do a little beer
- 6:50podcast myself, but they it's like I said, great music, great
- 6:54wrestling, great beer. Come out and support Mania
- 6:56Weekend and support that local independent talent.
