  Speaker 1: and be able to reach their hearts and minds and

  Speaker 1: be able to apply these verses to their lives. In

  Speaker 1: the Lord Jesus Christ's name, I pray.

  Speaker 1: So this is going to be a great episode. It's

  Speaker 1: going to be a little steered off of 1 Peter.

  Speaker 1: And we're going to talk about trust issues and we're
• 0:35
  Speaker 1: going to be in Proverbs chapter three, five through six.

  Speaker 1: We'll probably read a little bit more into that, but

  Speaker 1: trust issues.

  Speaker 2: Let's talk about it.

  Speaker 1: Being able to trust others is a very hard thing
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: to do when your trust has been misused in the past.

  Speaker 1: And in order to gain trust, you must.

  Speaker 2: Be able to give trust.

  Speaker 1: It's a give and take when it comes to friendships, relationships,
• 1:06
  Speaker 1: you know.
• 1:08
  Speaker 2: The colleagues, the.
• 1:12
  Speaker 1: People in your community. It's not just what can you
• 1:16
  Speaker 1: receive out of it, right? And we're going to talk
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: a little bit about devotion as well and talking about
• 1:23
  Speaker 1: the word trust and being bold, secure, feel safe, careless.
• 1:31
  Speaker 1: When you're in a conversation with somebody and you can
• 1:33
  Speaker 1: spill your guts. And you can be able to spill
• 1:36
  Speaker 1: what you're thinking at that moment. What you're feeling. And
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: that's what you should have with Jesus. But you know
• 1:41
  Speaker 1: that there's people that along this journey of life have
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: been placed. And I hope that everybody gets to experience
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: that kind of love. Where you really do feel like
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: you can be yourself. And you don't have to.
• 1:59
  Speaker 1: Not necessarily you're not yourself with other people or your
• 2:02
  Speaker 1: colleagues or people of your community but there's a little
• 2:06
  Speaker 1: childlike version of yourself that can only be shared with
• 2:10
  Speaker 1: somebody that you really feel completely comfortable and trust completely
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: full-heartedly and we have to have that childlike spirit in
• 2:20
  Speaker 1: order to get into heaven and to have more divine intervention,
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: divine protection. Let's get into this a little deeper. I
• 2:28
  Speaker 1: want to jump into Proverbs chapter 3 verse 5. If
• 2:30
  Speaker 1: you want to grab your Bibles or get on your
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: Bible app and read along as you hear along, I

  Speaker 1: highly encourage it to be able to soak in the
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: word more.

  Speaker 2: Amen.

  Speaker 1: So when we're talking about Proverbs chapter 3 verse 5,

  Speaker 1: I've done Proverbs numerous times, but on this particular episode,
• 2:48
  Speaker 1: I have done a series on it. So we're talking
• 2:51
  Speaker 1: about you know, trust in the Lord completely. Do not
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: think that you understand things well enough for yourself. Being
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: completely understanding of what is trustworthy is another thing as
• 3:13
  Speaker 1: well because if you know that trusting another human being
• 3:21
  Speaker 1: and you Don't look at the downfall of what may transpire.
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: That's where we can have some serious issues. But you
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: can put your trust in God. Trust even when things
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: are bad that there's being something created in you.
• 3:39
  Speaker 2: Amen.

  Speaker 1: So I want to dive just a little bit deeper
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: into that. And whatever you are doing, remember that the
• 3:49
  Speaker 1: Lord is with you. then He will show you the
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: right way to go. Do not think that you are
• 3:56
  Speaker 1: already wise enough. Obey the Lord and refuse to do
• 4:00
  Speaker 1: evil things. If you do that, it will make you
• 4:03
  Speaker 1: healthy and strong. Being able to be more increasing your
• 4:12
  Speaker 1: love for the Lord and decreasing your love for the
• 4:18
  Speaker 1: world And seeing the benefits of that, being able to
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: know that the things that you get into vicious cycles
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: for that give you no long-term peace or clarity, it's
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: a temporary fix. And being able to walk with the
• 4:44
  Speaker 1: shame and guilt, but putting your trust in And something
• 4:49
  Speaker 1: other than.
• 4:52
  Speaker 2: Your own understanding. Your own emotions.
• 4:55
  Speaker 1: Is something that is practiced. And it is something that...

  Speaker 1: I've encountered that... It doesn't necessarily matter all the time
• 5:04
  Speaker 1: what Mark thinks or Mark feels. How I can get
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: my blessings or my lessons.
• 5:10
  Speaker 2: Because regardless... At the end of the day I put
• 5:12
  Speaker 2: my trust in Jesus.
• 5:14
  Speaker 1: I don't put my trust in man. And....
• 5:18
  Speaker 2: There is a certain criteria of living.
• 5:25
  Speaker 1: That makes you aware that not everybody is living up
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: to God's standards. And having that ability to be more
• 5:36
  Speaker 1: trustworthy like Jesus was is replicate almost like a replica
• 5:46
  Speaker 1: of Being the mirror of Christ.
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: How do we do that?
• 5:51
  Speaker 1: How do we do what Jesus said? That we would
• 5:55
  Speaker 1: do greater things than him. We are doing it now.

  Speaker 1: We are alive. We are able to have freedom. We
• 6:05
  Speaker 1: are able to share our faith. We are able to
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: be able to pray.
• 6:09
  Speaker 2: For one another.
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: And understand the power of prayer. And understand the power
• 6:13
  Speaker 1: of the Holy Spirit. And that spirit is such a gift,
• 6:18
  Speaker 1: a guide or a healer. And when people let you
• 6:22
  Speaker 1: down because they will, when things don't work out because
• 6:26
  Speaker 1: they won't, and when things are ran out, we have
• 6:35
  Speaker 1: to have a restock, right? It's the same thing when
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: it comes to spiritually being connected with the Holy Spirit.
• 6:45
  Speaker 2: Through prayer with Jesus Christ. And understanding that God will
• 6:48
  Speaker 2: be pleased. And God will open up doors. The more
• 6:51
  Speaker 2: and more that you're consistent doing it.
• 6:55
  Speaker 1: But wisdom is a blessing. Anyone who finds wisdom is
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: in a happy place. So is the person who has
• 7:02
  Speaker 1: learned to understand things. Wisdom helps people better than silver
• 7:07
  Speaker 1: or gold will ever help them. And I want to
• 7:10
  Speaker 1: let everybody know real quick how dedicated I am. to
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: this podcast and this episode. The love of my life,
• 7:18
  Speaker 1: my significant other, has texted me, and I have not
• 7:22
  Speaker 1: made an effort to reach out to her because it
• 7:28
  Speaker 1: is not time. I'm learning that my priority list is
• 7:31
  Speaker 1: God's will, AA recovery.
• 7:35
  Speaker 2: And my significant other, my brother and my mother. I
• 7:37
  Speaker 2: am not.
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: Pleasing any of those. The one that I am fixated
• 7:43
  Speaker 1: on is God's will. By also working on me by
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: going to recovery. And having a significant other that loves
• 7:54
  Speaker 1: me like no other. And vice versa. Is the promises.

  Speaker 1: Is the miracle. And your blessing is coming too. I
• 8:05
  Speaker 1: just want to make that clear. And when we're talking
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: about trust issues, right? Let's just dive a little bit deeper.

  Speaker 1: I know that we were on Proverbs, but I want
• 8:16
  Speaker 1: to really dig deep on this. 1 Timothy 1 verse
• 8:22
  Speaker 1: 5 states, It is difficult for some Christians to trust
• 8:26
  Speaker 1: God completely about everything. You should accept people. Like that
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: as your friends. Do not argue with them. About what
• 8:39
  Speaker 1: they think is right or wrong. We all have our opinions.
• 8:43
  Speaker 1: We all have our belief systems.
• 8:45
  Speaker 2: We all are. Whether we're a believer or not.
• 8:50
  Speaker 1: Whether we're a follower or not. Whether we are on
• 8:53
  Speaker 1: the fence. And we don't know what to practice. What
• 8:57
  Speaker 1: to follow.
• 8:58
  Speaker 2: Right. Is being able to understand. That.

  Speaker 1: The difficulties of life in general is hard. And I
• 9:09
  Speaker 1: have encountered plenty of difficult situations as a believer and
• 9:15
  Speaker 1: as a follower.
• 9:17
  Speaker 2: But the joy that has.
• 9:18
  Speaker 1: Been able to be obtained through following Christ full-heartedly, nobody
• 9:24
  Speaker 1: can take away from me.
• 9:25
  Speaker 2: Not even myself.
• 9:28
  Speaker 1: And I don't put nobody above God's will and God's
• 9:32
  Speaker 1: will Is the mission.
• 9:36
  Speaker 2: And what is the mission. Is the message. I want
• 9:41
  Speaker 2: to make this clear. That. I am. Who I say
• 9:48
  Speaker 2: I am. I am the one that. Basically. Has gone
• 9:55
  Speaker 2: through hell. That has. Made the adjustments. right?

  Speaker 1: To overcome this adversity. And you can too with the
• 10:10
  Speaker 1: Holy Spirit. And the truth is, Is that the love
• 10:21
  Speaker 1: of my life just sent me a very beautiful picture
• 10:23
  Speaker 1: of her face. And that was hard to not reply
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: back to. Even while doing this episode, I want to
• 10:33
  Speaker 1: make it clear that I will always follow my priority list.
• 10:38
  Speaker 1: I am not a saint. I am not a religious leader.
• 10:44
  Speaker 1: I am not a religious person. I have a spiritual
• 10:48
  Speaker 1: relationship with Jesus Christ. That allows me to be able
• 10:51
  Speaker 1: to have the Holy Spirit. And be able to have
• 10:53
  Speaker 1: the authority. To cast out demons. Heal people. Power of communion.

  Speaker 1: Is something I've been able to obtain too. And being
• 11:05
  Speaker 1: able to connect with people on different levels of faith.
• 11:09
  Speaker 1: And the best part is knowing that. The best is
• 11:18
  Speaker 1: yet to come because I put my trust in something
• 11:25
  Speaker 1: that is not going to run up. It's not going
• 11:28
  Speaker 1: to leave me astray.
• 11:33
  Speaker 2: People will use you.
• 11:40
  Speaker 1: I always have believed that there is an expiration date
• 11:44
  Speaker 1: on loyalty when it comes to certain people. People are
• 11:48
  Speaker 1: for a season or a reason. If you do get
• 11:54
  Speaker 1: a lifelong partner, if you get a lifelong friend, be
• 11:57
  Speaker 1: thankful for that because not everybody gets that. Not everybody
• 12:00
  Speaker 1: has the ability to be able to maintain that. Ooh, spirit,
• 12:04
  Speaker 1: let me go deeper. Everybody wants, wants, wants, wants, wants,
• 12:07
  Speaker 1: but cannot be able to maintain what they want, want, want, want, want, want.
• 12:12
  Speaker 1: And I say that with a little bit of flair
• 12:14
  Speaker 1: and a little bit of sense of humor because Because
• 12:17
  Speaker 1: that's of the spirit.
• 12:18
  Speaker 2: It's joy. Spirit of childlike. And it's not like, oh,
• 12:23
  Speaker 2: we're immature. No, we're talking about joy. Being able to
• 12:26
  Speaker 2: laugh at ourselves.
• 12:27
  Speaker 1: Laugh at situations. Be able to understand that this is temporary.
• 12:30
  Speaker 1: And that God has the plan. We just have to
• 12:33
  Speaker 1: align with it.
• 12:34
  Speaker 2: Amen?

  Speaker 1: So, I got about two more minutes. And I just
• 12:37
  Speaker 1: kind of want to talk a little bit about what
• 12:40
  Speaker 1: I have been able to experience today. In these last
• 12:45
  Speaker 1: two and a half years of being a recovering alcoholic.
• 12:48
  Speaker 1: Being able to not be so judgmental on myself. I've
• 12:54
  Speaker 1: never been the judgmental type really against other people or situations.
• 13:00
  Speaker 1: But where I'm at today is understanding that I can
• 13:05
  Speaker 1: be able to be honest.
• 13:07
  Speaker 2: And that's how I change. And I'm open. I'm willing. And.
• 13:12
  Speaker 1: I am at a stage in my life where I
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: have come to grips with that the worst.
• 13:21
  Speaker 2: Is behind me.
• 13:22
  Speaker 1: And that's because my trust issues with people is getting better.
• 13:26
  Speaker 1: And that's by practicing getting to know people as much
• 13:30
  Speaker 1: as they might hurt me. But I have to continue
• 13:33
  Speaker 1: to give out what's been given to me. This love
• 13:36
  Speaker 1: and this ability to be able to make people feel comfortable.
• 13:40
  Speaker 1: And be able to share their story. That's something.
• 13:43
  Speaker 2: Being able to.
• 13:46
  Speaker 1: Have somebody that has a listening ear. That will spend
• 13:53
  Speaker 1: time with you. And not only give you encouragement and inspiration.
• 13:58
  Speaker 1: But just having an ear to chew.

  Speaker 2: Right?

  Speaker 1: We all have to chew off some people's ears sometimes.
• 14:05

  Speaker 1: all the time. And His Son is just as good.

  Speaker 1: The Holy Spirit is there if you need it. There

  Speaker 1: if you want it. And the consciousness of Christ is

  Speaker 1: being able to put on that armor and pick up
• 14:28
  Speaker 1: that cross and deny yourself and be able to be
• 14:32
  Speaker 1: in line with Jesus Christ having Him on your mind
• 14:35
  Speaker 1: majority of the day. Now, we have to be realistic though.
• 14:38
  Speaker 2: There's other things we got to get done. You have
• 14:42
