- 0:00Speaker 1: In the eternal battle of morning show supremacy.
- 0:04Speaker 2: We are one of them.
- 0:08Speaker 3: It's John Jay and Rich.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Hey, it's time for the John Jay and Rich Drunk
- 0:11Speaker 2: Dial line. Drunk Dial Lounge, the lounge. So we have
- 0:15Speaker 2: a special phone number for you. You can use it
- 0:17Speaker 2: when people are hitting on you at the clubs, or
- 0:18Speaker 2: if you're drunk, we want you to call us. You
- 0:20Speaker 2: call 602-888-1933. Or you can call the Talk Back feature
- 0:27Speaker 2: on the iHeartRadio app. Just tap the microphone, and we'll
- 0:29Speaker 2: get that. And then what we do is we play
- 0:31Speaker 2: them back, and you might end up on the radio.
- 0:32Speaker 4: I think dogs should be able to talk.
- 0:35Speaker 5: I think they would have some very interesting conversations.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I keep waiting for my stepdog, Nigel, to say something.
- 0:43Speaker 3: He's got those human eyes.
- 0:44Speaker 2: You know what? This person that left the message is
- 0:45Speaker 2: like if it's our decision. No, no dogs can talk.
- 0:49Speaker 6: None.
- 0:50Speaker 7: Yeah, because I feel like we would like that, too.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I would love that.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 0:56Speaker 8: I'm listening to the girl talking about the massage. And
- 0:58Speaker 8: then we take a squirrel. John Jay's talking about guava
- 1:03Speaker 8: and guasha and guano. I love this show so much.
- 1:09Speaker 8: I've been listening forever. You guys are amazing. Have a
- 1:14Speaker 8: great day.
- 1:14Speaker 9: That was nice.
- 1:16Speaker 2: What a great crystal clear voice message. That was a
- 1:19Speaker 2: great phone connection. That was great.
- 1:21Speaker 6: So, guys, I had something... horrible just happened to me.
- 1:27Speaker 6: My daughter lives with me. She's an adult and I
- 1:33Speaker 6: thought she was going to be spending the night at
- 1:36Speaker 6: a friend's house last night and me and my friend were,
- 1:42Speaker 6: you know, doing our thing in the morning hours and
- 1:46Speaker 6: then I hear my ring doorbell go off and apparently
- 1:50Speaker 6: my daughter has been here For, like, over an hour.
- 1:53Speaker 10: And she must have heard us.
- 1:56Speaker 11: Because I was so loud.
- 1:58Speaker 10: And she just left.
- 2:01Speaker 6: She literally just, like, walked out the door.
- 2:03Speaker 8: Oh, my God. I'm so embarrassed.
- 2:05Speaker 12: Oh, my God.
- 2:05Speaker 6: She heard her mom.
- 2:07Speaker 13: I had to share. I'm sorry.
- 2:08Speaker 6: I don't know what to do. Bye.
- 2:11Speaker 14: She's also probably traumatized.
- 2:13Speaker 3: What a nightmare.
- 2:14Speaker 9: That I cannot even stay in this house with this habit.
- 2:16Speaker 7: If that was me, I would.
- 2:17Speaker 14: Have made a scene leaving, slamming the door. You're going
- 2:20Speaker 14: to know.
- 2:20Speaker 2: That I know you. That's probably what she sounded like,
- 2:22Speaker 2: the mom.
- 2:22Speaker 15: Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh.
- 2:24Speaker 16: Wow.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I know this nightmare. When I visited for Christmas, I
- 2:27Speaker 3: heard my dad and what would be his new wife
- 2:30Speaker 3: hooking it up, and it was not good. It was
- 2:33Speaker 3: not good. Who's your daddy?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Who's your daddy?
- 2:35Speaker 3: Ew.
- 2:35Speaker 15: Ew.
- 2:36Speaker 7: Unnecessary.
- 2:39Speaker 14: Why would you say that? I, of course, told that
- 2:44Speaker 14: story to my brother at dinner the next night to
- 2:46Speaker 14: mess him up.
- 2:47Speaker 3: And I think I had the whole restaurant drop in
- 2:49Speaker 3: their forts in disgust around us. I must have a
- 2:52Speaker 3: loud speaking voice.
- 2:53Speaker 14: Hey, man.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It's Chris.
- 2:56Speaker 13: Did y'all hear about the kidnapping?
- 3:01Speaker 2: He woke up. The kid was napping.
- 3:10Speaker 9: Oh, I was like, I don't get it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: That must have been from joke day. Right.
- 3:14Speaker 17: I literally have no one else to call because everyone
- 3:18Speaker 17: that I know is asleep. But I'm drunk and my
- 3:22Speaker 17: DoorDash driver's name is Jesus.
- 3:25Speaker 4: And I ordered Taco Bell.
- 3:26Speaker 12: So technically Jesus is bringing me food right now. I
- 3:32Speaker 12: just thought somebody.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Needed to know that.
- 3:34Speaker 9: Okay, bye.
- 3:36Speaker 15: We did need to know.
- 3:37Speaker 7: Your Lord and Savior.
- 3:38Speaker 6: Yes.
- 3:38Speaker 7: Coming through.
- 3:40Speaker 12: So I have an excuse I use to get out
- 3:42Speaker 12: of a ticket, and I cannot believe it actually worked.
- 3:45Speaker 4: I got pulled over, and when he asked me my name,
- 3:47Speaker 4: I said, Frida. And he said, last name?
- 3:49Speaker 12: And I said, Go Mom.
- 3:51Speaker 4: And he said, your name is Frida Go Mom? And
- 3:53Speaker 4: I said, thank you so much.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Goodbye.
- 3:55Speaker 12: I just pulled away.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And then he called the rest of the cops and
- 4:00Speaker 2: they pulled you over and put you in prison. Very funny.
- 4:04Speaker 2: All right. That's the Drunk Down Lounge. You call 602-888-1933
- 4:11Speaker 2: or use the talkback feature.
- 4:12Speaker 15: Hey, dummy.
- 4:12Speaker 1: If you get free roses, it's a trap. War of
- 4:17Speaker 1: the Roses starts right now on John Jay and Rich.
- 4:20Speaker 13: All right.
- 4:20Speaker 2: We're getting ready for War of the Roses. Let's say
- 4:22Speaker 2: hello to Raina. Good morning, Raina.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Good morning.
- 4:25Speaker 17: Hi.
- 4:26Speaker 13: Hi.
- 4:26Speaker 2: So War of the Roses, you think someone's cheating on you.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So we're going to call them up, tell them they
- 4:30Speaker 2: want a dozen red roses. They can send them to
- 4:32Speaker 2: anybody they want for free. Okay? So hopefully he picks you.
- 4:34Speaker 2: What's your story, Reena?
- 4:35Speaker 12: Well, just for full disclosure, I've been cheated on before.
- 4:39Speaker 12: So I think I'm a little raw and it just
- 4:42Speaker 12: kind of like messes with me. I've just been noticing
- 4:45Speaker 12: some like kind of strange behavior from him. So he's
- 4:49Speaker 12: come home a few times with, like, red lipstick or, like,
- 4:54Speaker 12: lip gloss on his scrubs. And it's not like an
- 4:58Speaker 12: everyday occurrence. It's kind of here and there, which is, like,
- 5:01Speaker 12: even stranger, I think. And then I've noticed the scrubs
- 5:06Speaker 12: sometimes kind of have, like, a real, like, floral smell
- 5:10Speaker 12: to them that's, like, not anything that.
- 5:14Speaker 5: I've smelled before.
- 5:16Speaker 12: And so he's been a little distant, like he comes
- 5:19Speaker 12: in and he just like kind of goes straight to
- 5:22Speaker 12: his room and he's kind of like too tired to talk,
- 5:25Speaker 12: but yet he can just like scroll on his phone
- 5:27Speaker 12: for hours, it seems like. And he's just like, yeah,
- 5:30Speaker 12: it works crazy and exhausted. And I'm like, okay, you're
- 5:33Speaker 12: too exhausted to talk to me, but you can just
- 5:35Speaker 12: like call your attention on your phone. And so it's
- 5:40Speaker 12: stressing me out and I... I don't know. I've become paranoid.
- 5:45Speaker 12: I'm like checking everything in his just to see if
- 5:47Speaker 12: I can find any clues of anything.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Hey, I think we've all seen enough Grey's Anatomy to
- 5:52Speaker 2: know or doc or ER to know that these nurses,
- 5:57Speaker 2: these doctors like to play around.
- 5:59Speaker 9: And you don't come home from the hospital smelling like floral.
- 6:02Speaker 14: No. You come home smelling like antibacterial wipes.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Why not ask him, hey, what's up with the lip
- 6:09Speaker 3: gloss on your scrubs?
- 6:11Speaker 12: The reason I haven't is because I think I kept
- 6:14Speaker 12: waiting for him to drop other clues, and if I
- 6:16Speaker 12: brought up the lipstick, I think he would have been like, oh, haha,
- 6:19Speaker 12: make some excuse, and then cover his tracks more.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I was making out with another nurse.
- 6:24Speaker 14: Right, because when you bring it up, you give them
- 6:26Speaker 14: an opportunity to defend themselves.
- 6:28Speaker 7: That means you can't catch them red-handed.
- 6:30Speaker 9: You need a sneak attack.
- 6:31Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 6:32Speaker 3: What's his name?
- 6:33Speaker 12: His name is Nate.
- 6:34Speaker 2: All right, we're going to get Nate on the phone.
- 6:35Speaker 2: We're going to see who he sends flowers to. Hang tight, Raina.
- 6:38Speaker 2: War of the Roses continues next with John Jay and Rich.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I don't know how you found us. But I'm so
- 6:44Speaker 1: thankful that you did. It's John Jay and Rich.
- 6:49Speaker 2: All right, we are in the middle of War of
- 6:52Speaker 2: the Roses. You got Raina here. She thinks Nate, her boyfriend,
- 6:55Speaker 2: who's a nurse, is cheating on her. Now, she's been
- 6:57Speaker 2: cheated on before, and she's seen this weird behavior. Well,
- 7:00Speaker 2: the biggest thing. He comes home with red lipstick and
- 7:02Speaker 2: smells like perfume.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I would say that's check-in meat for the bus there.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I mean, you think about all the TV shows that
- 7:08Speaker 2: involve hospitals. I mean, sex sells in all these hospital shows.
- 7:10Speaker 2: These nurses and doctors are always hooking up. So we
- 7:14Speaker 2: welcome you, Raina. Are you ready?
- 7:16Speaker 12: Yeah, I'm ready.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Kyle Lundfog, are you ready?
- 7:19Speaker 15: I'm ready.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Hello?
- 7:25Speaker 13: Hi there.
- 7:25Speaker 9: Is Nate available?
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, this is Nate.
- 7:28Speaker 16: Who's this?
- 7:29Speaker 13: Oh, perfect.
- 7:29Speaker 17: Hi.
- 7:30Speaker 9: So my name is Sydney. I'm with this new company.
- 7:31Speaker 9: We're called J & R Flowers. We're doing kind of
- 7:33Speaker 9: like a social media campaign called Post for Petals. So
- 7:36Speaker 9: you've been chosen, and here's what it means for you.
- 7:39Speaker 9: We send our most romantic bouquet. It's a dozen red roses.
- 7:43Speaker 9: It's totally free, and you get to send it to
- 7:44Speaker 9: anyone you want.
- 7:45Speaker 15: No, no, no.
- 7:47Speaker 13: Thanks.
- 7:49Speaker 9: I know it sounds really weird, but we really are
- 7:50Speaker 9: just looking for a little bit of marketing. So a
- 7:52Speaker 9: little shout-out on whatever social platform you use the most
- 7:55Speaker 9: is really all it's going to take. And I don't
- 7:57Speaker 9: need any personal info like credit card and we're not
- 7:59Speaker 9: going to send.
- 7:59Speaker 15: You a bill.
- 8:00Speaker 6: No.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:01Speaker 13: No credit card. No, nothing like that. Right.
- 8:04Speaker 9: And if you've got someone special in your life, I'm
- 8:05Speaker 9: telling you, these are very impressive. They are super sexy.
- 8:09Speaker 9: Like they are amazing.
- 8:12Speaker 14: Okay.
- 8:12Speaker 13: You know what? Screw it.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yeah, sure.
- 8:14Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 9: Why not?
- 8:15Speaker 6: Okay.
- 8:15Speaker 9: And here's the coolest part about it is we actually
- 8:18Speaker 9: send like a voice note that comes with the roses.
- 8:22Speaker 9: And so really the only thing that I'm going to
- 8:24Speaker 9: need you to do is in just a second, I'll hit,
- 8:26Speaker 9: I'll hit record and you can just say whatever it
- 8:29Speaker 9: is you want, whoever you're sending them to, to hear.
- 8:32Speaker 15: Does that make sense?
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 16: All right.
- 8:35Speaker 18: Perfect.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:36Speaker 15: So I've got this ready at the tone.
- 8:39Speaker 9: Please record your message.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Hey, baby.
- 8:43Speaker 13: Thinking of you. I hope you're having the best day,
- 8:46Speaker 13: and I look forward to seeing you when.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You get home.
- 8:49Speaker 14: Perfect.
- 8:50Speaker 9: And then who are we addressing these to?
- 8:52Speaker 13: That's going to be my girlfriend, Raina.
- 8:54Speaker 9: Raina's going to love that.
- 8:56Speaker 13: That's R-A-Y-N-A.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 15: Very sweet.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 9:02Speaker 12: Nate, are you serious right now?
- 9:06Speaker 13: Sorry, Raina, babe? What the hell? What's going on? Why
- 9:09Speaker 13: are you on the phone?
- 9:11Speaker 12: No, I'm actually the one who's confused right now. Why
- 9:13Speaker 12: would you send me flowers?
- 9:15Speaker 19: What do you mean, why?
- 9:17Speaker 13: You're my girlfriend. What's happening right now?
- 9:19Speaker 12: Well, I mean, you said all those sweet things, but
- 9:21Speaker 12: I just, I don't understand how you can say that
- 9:25Speaker 12: when I've been finding lipstick on your clothing.
- 9:27Speaker 17: Seriously.
- 9:30Speaker 12: Like, I've seen the lipstick. You can't deny it. They're
- 9:33Speaker 12: on your scrubs. Like, who is kissing you at work
- 9:36Speaker 12: or after work?
- 9:37Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 9:38Speaker 12: Like, what is happening on your scrubs?
- 9:39Speaker 6: Okay, sorry.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 9:41Speaker 13: What is going on right now? Why are we talking
- 9:43Speaker 13: about this on the phone? What was the flowers? What
- 9:46Speaker 13: the heck is going on?
- 9:47Speaker 12: Well, I called John Jay and Rich, and I thought...
- 9:50Speaker 12: I called them because I thought you were cheating on me.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Can we do a thing called War of the Roses
- 9:54Speaker 2: on our radio show?
- 9:55Speaker 6: Hi.
- 9:56Speaker 13: Babe, you called a radio show to catch me cheating?
- 10:01Speaker 12: Well, I just didn't know what to think. I mean,
- 10:03Speaker 12: you came home, you smell like woman's perfume, and then
- 10:06Speaker 12: there's like lipstick on your scrubs, and then you like
- 10:10Speaker 12: lock yourself in the bedroom for like hours, and I'm
- 10:12Speaker 12: just like.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 10:15Speaker 13: Okay, babe, are you talking about Linda?
- 10:19Speaker 4: Linda?
- 10:20Speaker 12: Who the hell is Linda?
- 10:21Speaker 13: Seriously, who's Linda? This is insane.
- 10:26Speaker 12: What's insane? Who's Linda? Who am I supposed to know.
- 10:31Speaker 16: Who Linda is?
- 10:33Speaker 13: Linda is 89 years old.
- 10:35Speaker 3: You sicko.
- 10:37Speaker 13: She's in hospice. She's a resident at the Senior Living Center.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Oh.
- 10:44Speaker 9: Linda.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So you take care of her.
- 10:46Speaker 3: And you're not having an affair with her, right? Just
- 10:48Speaker 3: to be clear.
- 10:49Speaker 2: No, she has dementia.
- 10:51Speaker 13: She thinks I'm her husband, Frank.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Oh, Frank.
- 10:56Speaker 4: My God.
- 10:57Speaker 7: You must look like Frank.
- 10:58Speaker 2: That's so sad.
- 11:01Speaker 13: Her third husband, she sometimes confuses me with him. She, like,
- 11:04Speaker 13: grabs my cheeks, you know, and she wears this bright
- 11:07Speaker 13: red lipstick. She tries to go in for a smooch.
- 11:09Speaker 13: I try to, like, get out of the way. That's
- 11:11Speaker 13: why it ends up on my collar.
- 11:12Speaker 19: Oh, my God.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 11:15Speaker 12: Oh, please stop.
- 11:17Speaker 10: Oh, my God.
- 11:17Speaker 14: Um.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 13: One time she actually, she, she grabbed both my sides
- 11:23Speaker 13: of my face. She grabbed my cheeks and said, Frank,
- 11:25Speaker 13: you still got it. But the perfume, like, yeah, that's Linda.
- 11:36Speaker 13: She wears way too much and I can still smell
- 11:39Speaker 13: it on me after I shower. I mean, it's, It's overwhelming.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Raina, you're going to have to march right into hospice
- 11:44Speaker 3: and give Linda what for. Listen, Linda. Listen, Linda. Stop
- 11:49Speaker 3: pissing on my man.
- 11:51Speaker 15: Frank is my man.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and then she'll probably leave hospice pretty quickly after that.
- 11:58Speaker 12: So humiliating. I... Oh, my God.
- 12:03Speaker 16: I'm so embarrassed.
- 12:04Speaker 13: It's totally fine. I mean, honestly, it's... I mean, granted,
- 12:09Speaker 13: I don't want to be accused on the radio of anything,
- 12:11Speaker 13: but it is kind of cute that I'm being accused
- 12:14Speaker 13: of having an affair with a woman who has a
- 12:16Speaker 13: life alert button.
- 12:21Speaker 12: Oh, my God. I mean, you have to admit, like,
- 12:24Speaker 12: it looks bad, right?
- 12:26Speaker 5: Like, I'm not crazy.
- 12:28Speaker 13: Sure, but you could have just asked me.
- 12:31Speaker 12: Oh, my God. I.
- 12:36Speaker 12: You know I've been cheated on before I am so
- 12:38Speaker 12: sorry I know.
- 12:41Speaker 13: Babe I know okay you have to trust me I
- 12:44Speaker 13: love you that's why I send you the flowers you
- 12:46Speaker 13: really I promise I'm not gonna cheat on you I'm
- 12:50Speaker 13: not that guy you don't have anything.
- 12:51Speaker 12: To worry about I feel like such a heel I
- 12:55Speaker 12: am so I am so sorry.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So, interesting happy ending.
- 12:59Speaker 13: Can we still get her flowers, you guys? Can we?
- 13:02Speaker 2: No, we have to hang up now.
- 13:05Speaker 7: Get Linda some flowers. Send them from Frank. I'm sure
- 13:08Speaker 7: she would really appreciate that.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Thanks for going on the air with us, you guys.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Thank you, Raina. Happy ending for you. Thanks, Nate. You're
- 13:14Speaker 2: a very nice guy.
- 13:15Speaker 13: Of course.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Thanks for doing what you're doing. You have a very tough,
- 13:18Speaker 2: thankless job.
- 13:19Speaker 12: And I'm the crappy girlfriend.
- 13:20Speaker 2: No, no.
- 13:21Speaker 7: You guys are going to survive this.
- 13:22Speaker 20: No, no.
- 13:23Speaker 2: You're very sweet.
- 13:24Speaker 13: No, I'm... It is very, very sweet. Don't worry about it.
- 13:28Speaker 2: That's War of the Roses with John Jay and Rich.
- 13:30Speaker 1: It's the John Jay and Rich radio program.
- 13:33Speaker 21: Two names.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Four hosts. And a whole lot of fun.
- 13:37Speaker 1: It's John Jay and Rich.
- 13:39Speaker 14: Okay, did you guys see the story that this business owner,
- 13:42Speaker 14: he fired his employee for missing work? And then when
- 13:45Speaker 14: the employee went to go tell his mom, his mom
- 13:48Speaker 14: called his boss to argue his case on why he
- 13:51Speaker 14: should have never been fired.
- 13:53Speaker 9: That's amazing. That's love right there.
- 13:56Speaker 14: Yeah, but no, the son was kind of like, no,
- 13:59Speaker 14: this is... A complete lack of boundaries, like completely overstepped.
- 14:04Speaker 14: And it kind of reminded me of the new Carrie
- 14:05Speaker 14: series that's out on Prime because one of the big
- 14:08Speaker 14: storylines is how her mom continuously goes to her school
- 14:12Speaker 14: to try to handle her problems.
- 14:13Speaker 15: Okay, real quick.
- 14:13Speaker 9: Do we know what the actual reason was that he
- 14:16Speaker 9: got or he wasn't at work?
- 14:18Speaker 7: He just kept missing. He kept calling out.
- 14:19Speaker 15: Is he a child?
- 14:20Speaker 4: But still.
- 14:20Speaker 15: Is he like 16, 17, 18?
- 14:24Speaker 14: He's an adult, he's like 25 years old.
- 14:27Speaker 9: At that point, mom should probably let go a little bit.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Exactly. You need to make him pay for an apartment.
- 14:32Speaker 3: He's probably living at home.
- 14:33Speaker 15: Exactly.
- 14:34Speaker 3: So he doesn't need to work to pay for rent.
- 14:36Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 14:36Speaker 2: And they're not friends. Mom's not friends with the owner.
- 14:38Speaker 7: Mom is not friends with the owner.
- 14:40Speaker 14: Literally just was in her feelings that her son got
- 14:43Speaker 14: let off from her job and it just made me
- 14:44Speaker 14: think like, Sometimes, pears, they do too much. They overstep,
- 14:49Speaker 14: and they probably do something a little bit out of
- 14:51Speaker 14: pocket that.
- 14:51Speaker 7: Was not necessary.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Like they cross over boundaries?
- 14:54Speaker 14: Yes.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Or have none.
- 14:55Speaker 9: Or have none.
- 14:56Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:57Speaker 16: Okay.
- 14:58Speaker 2: So what did your parents do for you? And they
- 15:01Speaker 2: meant well, right? They meant well.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, they meant well.
- 15:03Speaker 2: They were there to protect their baby. But you were
- 15:05Speaker 2: way too old. You're an adult. You can handle it.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 15:08Speaker 6: Okay.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Kind of like my wife going all the way, taking
- 15:10Speaker 2: my son to the emergency room when he's 20 years old.
- 15:12Speaker 3: I think that's okay.
- 15:13Speaker 9: I think that's enough.
- 15:14Speaker 15: I don't think that's a cost boundary.
- 15:15Speaker 7: I'm just trying to understand.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I'm just trying to understand.
- 15:17Speaker 9: It would kind of be like... It would.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Be like your mom doing your paper route for you.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Hey, I was 16.
- 15:23Speaker 15: Okay, yeah, that's a little different.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I was 16.
- 15:26Speaker 3: What were you doing when she was doing the paper route?
- 15:28Speaker 2: I was sitting in the car. Madeline, good morning.
- 15:31Speaker 6: Good morning.
- 15:32Speaker 2: All right, what happened to you? What did your parents do?
- 15:34Speaker 4: That's my mom.
- 15:35Speaker 22: I am.
- 15:37Speaker 11: 33 years old. I am married. And my mom apparently
- 15:43Speaker 11: hired some woman off of Facebook to flirt with my
- 15:46Speaker 11: husband to see if.
- 15:48Speaker 5: He would cheat.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Whoa. And did he?
- 15:53Speaker 9: No, he did not.
- 15:54Speaker 11: I do not need that protection. She showed up at
- 15:58Speaker 11: his gym. This lady shows up at his gym. She
- 16:00Speaker 11: starts hitting on him. He rejects her. And so she
- 16:05Speaker 11: told my mother that my husband was probably gay. My
- 16:10Speaker 11: mother freaks out. She has a total meltdown. She called
- 16:15Speaker 11: me and she's crying because she thinks my husband is
- 16:18Speaker 11: secretly gay.
- 16:19Speaker 9: Does she not like your husband or she's just like, like,
- 16:23Speaker 9: why is she so worried about.
- 16:24Speaker 15: You with him?
- 16:26Speaker 11: I don't even know.
- 16:28Speaker 14: Not only did she go and hire someone to hit
- 16:31Speaker 14: on your husband, but when he didn't bite, it wasn't like, oh,
- 16:34Speaker 14: he's being loyal to my daughter.
- 16:36Speaker 7: It was, oh, he's gay.
- 16:37Speaker 9: I'm surprised she didn't go hire a dude then.
- 16:39Speaker 15: But she told you.
- 16:40Speaker 4: It gets worse, though.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Oh, it does?
- 16:42Speaker 8: Okay.
- 16:43Speaker 23: Okay, go ahead.
- 16:44Speaker 11: The woman she hired sent me the invoice because my
- 16:48Speaker 11: mom ghosted her on Facebook and didn't pay her.
- 16:53Speaker 9: How much did she charge her?
- 16:56Speaker 10: It was $ 2.
- 16:56Speaker 13: 50.
- 16:57Speaker 2: You know what? There's a show I'm watching right now.
- 17:01Speaker 2: It's called War on HBO. There's two episodes out. And
- 17:04Speaker 2: this exact scenario is being played out on this show.
- 17:07Speaker 2: But the guy slept with the girl. A woman thought
- 17:10Speaker 2: her husband would be cheating, so she hired her friend.
- 17:13Speaker 2: And if she's paid and she sleeps with him, your
- 17:17Speaker 2: mom could have been charged with prostitution. Because your mom
- 17:23Speaker 2: paid this woman to sleep with him. If he would
- 17:26Speaker 2: have slept with her, your mom could go to jail.
- 17:30Speaker 11: But she didn't.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Actually pay her.
- 17:31Speaker 2: No, I know what I'm saying.
- 17:33Speaker 9: Then you would go to jail.
- 17:34Speaker 2: That's what's actually happening right now in episode two of
- 17:37Speaker 2: War right now. It's a good.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Thing your husband didn't take the bait.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. You got a good guy there, Madeline.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Thanks for sharing that story with us. Thank you very much. 877-937-1047.
- 17:52Speaker 2: What did your parents do for you? They were way
- 17:54Speaker 2: too old. Way too old, and they crossed all kinds
- 17:56Speaker 2: of boundaries. We'll get into it next. It's John Jay
- 17:59Speaker 2: and Rich. John Jay and Rich! Peyton was talking about
- 18:02Speaker 2: the TV show Carrie. And on the show, Carrie, the
- 18:05Speaker 2: mom oversteps her boundary, goes to the school.
- 18:08Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 14: And basically, I mean, it's never good when your mom
- 18:11Speaker 14: pulls up to school because now even more eyes were
- 18:13Speaker 14: on Carrie.
- 18:14Speaker 7: And you know the story of Carrie. Things went bad.
- 18:16Speaker 16: Right.
- 18:16Speaker 2: And then you said there's a story about a guy
- 18:18Speaker 2: who got fired at work for not showing up. He's
- 18:22Speaker 2: an adult. And the mom was calling the boss and
- 18:25Speaker 2: trying to say, why did you fire my son?
- 18:26Speaker 7: Basically pleaded to him like. No, you shouldn't have fired him.
- 18:30Speaker 7: This is why he's so great.
- 18:31Speaker 2: So we want to know, what did your parents do
- 18:33Speaker 2: for you that you were way too old for? You're
- 18:35Speaker 2: a grown-ass person, but your parents still stepped in. Sammy,
- 18:39Speaker 2: what happened to you?
- 18:40Speaker 4: My mom has never gotten over the fact that I
- 18:44Speaker 4: didn't go to prom. I also just, like, didn't care.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I didn't care that I didn't go to prom. But
- 18:49Speaker 4: so it's my 30th birthday party, and she told me
- 18:52Speaker 4: she was throwing me a surprise birthday. And she's rented out, like,
- 18:55Speaker 4: an entire ballroom. Um, she's like hired a DJ. She
- 19:01Speaker 4: bought me or corsage and she invited people that I
- 19:06Speaker 4: haven't seen since high school. Um, she's like a Facebook fiend.
- 19:11Speaker 4: So she like stalked, I'm like found the guy I
- 19:15Speaker 4: had a crush on in 2014 who like, by the way,
- 19:17Speaker 4: didn't know that I had a crush on him and
- 19:20Speaker 4: asked him to be my prom date.
- 19:22Speaker 7: Shut up.
- 19:24Speaker 4: He brought his wife. And so I was like, it was,
- 19:28Speaker 4: I mean, my mom made us take pictures together. I
- 19:30Speaker 4: was just like, I have two children. I am too
- 19:33Speaker 4: old for this.
- 19:34Speaker 22: Wow.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Do you regret not going to prom yourself?
- 19:37Speaker 4: No, I've never thought about it.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Because I've heard that. I've heard that, that if you
- 19:44Speaker 2: don't go to your prom, you regret it. But I
- 19:46Speaker 2: kind of don't agree with it, even though I went
- 19:48Speaker 2: to my prom. So I don't know. So you don't
- 19:50Speaker 2: regret it at all?
- 19:52Speaker 8: Not at all.
- 19:52Speaker 4: I was like, Mom, it sounds like you have some
- 19:54Speaker 4: prom trauma.
- 19:55Speaker 3: That you regret.
- 19:57Speaker 13: Probably.
- 19:57Speaker 3: What was your 30-year-old birthday prom? Was that fun, other
- 20:00Speaker 3: than your married date?
- 20:02Speaker 4: I mean, it was like, it was like, it was
- 20:04Speaker 4: like a throwback vibe that I think people were having fun.
- 20:07Speaker 4: So I was like starting to settle in, but I
- 20:08Speaker 4: was just like at the, I was like, oh my God,
- 20:10Speaker 4: there was like a step and repeat. I was like,
- 20:12Speaker 4: I can't believe this is happening.
- 20:14Speaker 2: You know, let me ask you this. Let me shift
- 20:16Speaker 2: gears for a second. Is there anything in here anybody regrets?
- 20:18Speaker 2: Cause I currently regret something. I don't, it's not the
- 20:21Speaker 2: prom thing, but something very similar that I regret. And
- 20:23Speaker 2: I'll tell you what it is. My high school reunion
- 20:26Speaker 2: was three weeks ago and I didn't go and I
- 20:30Speaker 2: didn't think I'd care. And then I saw pictures and
- 20:32Speaker 2: I saw like five of my friends that I always
- 20:34Speaker 2: hung out with. And they sent me the pictures and
- 20:38Speaker 2: I was so bummed I wasn't there. Really? Yeah, it
- 20:40Speaker 2: was really weird. You had FOMO? Is that FOMO?
- 20:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:43Speaker 2: FOMO is like if you're missing out when it's happening, right?
- 20:45Speaker 9: It can also be post FOMO.
- 20:47Speaker 15: Yeah, it can also be afterwards.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It's kind of weird because I grew up here, but
- 20:52Speaker 2: I graduated from high school in San Diego, right? Now
- 20:56Speaker 2: my high school reunion here is in two weeks. and
- 20:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna go to that, but it's not the same
- 21:01Speaker 2: as the high school I actually graduated from. Does that
- 21:03Speaker 2: make sense to you guys?
- 21:04Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah. I feel like the high school reunion that
- 21:06Speaker 14: you go to is the school that you graduate from.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Right, but I grew up here. I grew up here,
- 21:11Speaker 2: and then I left before I graduated high school, but
- 21:13Speaker 2: all my friends, so I still get included in the group.
- 21:15Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go to this graduation. Everybody at this
- 21:17Speaker 2: graduation I'm going to, I know them all, they're great, whatever.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I see them all the time. The people that I,
- 21:22Speaker 2: the actual graduation one I missed, I have a regret
- 21:26Speaker 2: that I missed it. I think I have very few regrets.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Right, so do you guys have any?
- 21:31Speaker 3: I have a lot of.
- 21:32Speaker 15: Regrets in life.
- 21:33Speaker 7: Like what?
- 21:35Speaker 2: But it's funny, but I saw this, I just saw
- 21:37Speaker 2: this article, I'm gonna try to find it, of the
- 21:39Speaker 2: people's biggest regrets.
- 21:41Speaker 9: Is it just specifically from like school days?
- 21:43Speaker 15: No, from anything, from anything.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Oh, anything, okay.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Like probably, Peyton, it was that outfit you wore the
- 21:47Speaker 2: other day.
- 21:47Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly.
- 21:48Speaker 7: No, actually- I shop ugly and make a cute, so
- 21:51Speaker 7: stop hating.
- 21:52Speaker 15: You do.
- 21:53Speaker 14: For me, it would probably be, like, I regret a
- 21:57Speaker 14: lot of my dating history when I was living in Portland, Oregon,
- 22:00Speaker 14: because my now husband knows a lot of the people
- 22:02Speaker 14: that I was kind of, like, hanging out with, and
- 22:04Speaker 14: I hate that he knows that about me.
- 22:08Speaker 7: You know, like, it keeps me up at night sometimes.
- 22:10Speaker 9: That's hilarious.
- 22:10Speaker 7: Sometimes I regret dating girls because y'all are toxic.
- 22:13Speaker 6: Whoa.
- 22:14Speaker 9: Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 22:16Speaker 2: That's good. These are good.
- 22:17Speaker 13: Those are good.
- 22:18Speaker 4: It's true.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I have a big one that, John, you probably remember.
- 22:21Speaker 3: It was my kids were acting up and I'm like,
- 22:24Speaker 3: you guys got to straighten up or we're not going
- 22:26Speaker 3: to Disneyland.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Oh, that was brutal, dude.
- 22:29Speaker 3: You didn't let him go? I was like, you can't
- 22:32Speaker 3: just not make- Empty threats.
- 22:34Speaker 9: You can't make empty threats as a parent.
- 22:36Speaker 3: And I'm like, keep it up. We're not going to Disneyland.
- 22:38Speaker 3: And they kept it up. And I'm like, not going
- 22:40Speaker 3: to Disneyland. And we did not go to Disneyland.
- 22:42Speaker 14: Hmm.
- 22:43Speaker 3: You followed through?
- 22:44Speaker 7: How did you follow through on that?
- 22:45Speaker 14: But honestly, though, but valid, though, because I bet you
- 22:48Speaker 14: they never.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Acted up again when it was time to go to Disney. No,
- 22:50Speaker 3: you know, they never had any timeouts or anything after that, actually.
- 22:53Speaker 2: They don't even talk to him anymore.
- 22:55Speaker 7: Oh, come on.
- 22:56Speaker 15: That would have been.
- 22:58Speaker 3: A fun weekend, actually. That would have been a really
- 22:59Speaker 3: fun weekend, and we didn't do it.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I found the article. It says, a poll asked, what
- 23:02Speaker 2: is your biggest regret in life? And people said health, friendships, children,
- 23:10Speaker 2: whether that means having or not having. education, money, family relationships,
- 23:14Speaker 2: career or work. 15% of people said their biggest regret
- 23:17Speaker 2: is related to romantic relationships. 22% of people said, I
- 23:20Speaker 2: don't have any big regrets, which is a good thing.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say more or less, yes, that one.
- 23:27Speaker 3: For the most part, the things that you would regret,
- 23:29Speaker 3: they led to something better.
- 23:31Speaker 9: You know what I regretted, and it has affected how
- 23:34Speaker 9: I am, is in middle school, there was like, the
- 23:38Speaker 9: fair was in town, and my siblings, everyone was going
- 23:41Speaker 9: on the Gravitron. The Gravitron, it looks like spaceship, and
- 23:44Speaker 9: it spins you around, and you stick to the wall.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Oh, I hate that.
- 23:46Speaker 9: I got on the ride, and I chickened out before
- 23:49Speaker 9: the ride even started. I literally made them stop. I
- 23:51Speaker 9: unbuckled myself. I got off, and I waited for my
- 23:54Speaker 9: siblings to get off. When they got off, they were like,
- 23:55Speaker 9: that was the most fun ride on the planet.
- 23:58Speaker 4: We want to go get it.
- 23:59Speaker 9: And I was like, oh my gosh. And then we
- 24:02Speaker 9: didn't get to go on it again. And so ever
- 24:04Speaker 9: since then, I'm like, I got to try every ride.
- 24:06Speaker 9: I got to do the ride because I'll regret not
- 24:08Speaker 9: trying it because everyone said it was so fun.
- 24:10Speaker 7: That ride was trippy because like, how did it? Stick
- 24:13Speaker 7: us to the wall.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Wait, it'll be funny now.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Now your mom's listening and your mom sets it up.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 15: We can probably make that happen for you at the
- 24:19Speaker 15: State Fair.
- 24:20Speaker 2: We can get the Gravitron. We can get all your
- 24:22Speaker 2: siblings together.
- 24:24Speaker 9: I've ridden the Gravitron since.
- 24:26Speaker 15: And all the roller coasters. We can wear tuxedos and
- 24:28Speaker 15: get corsages like Sammy's thing.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Let's have your mom set it up. Let's go.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Hey, Sammy, thanks for calling in. Thank you very much.
- 24:35Speaker 21: Thank you.
- 24:36Speaker 5: Thanks, guys.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It's John Jay and Rich.
- 24:38Speaker 2: It's John Jay and Rich. All right, in the studio,
- 24:41Speaker 2: this is... I'm going to have a little bit of
- 24:44Speaker 2: a moment here, Justin. We have Justin Willman in the studio.
- 24:46Speaker 2: And what's funny is when I knew you were coming in,
- 24:47Speaker 2: and I just want to say that I don't want
- 24:49Speaker 2: to offend at all. But when they said, hey, Justin Willman,
- 24:51Speaker 2: he was going to come in, I was like, that's great.
- 24:53Speaker 2: But then when I see you, I'm like, I know
- 24:55Speaker 2: exactly who you are. It kind of is tripping me out. Oh,
- 24:57Speaker 2: I'm excited to hear.
- 24:58Speaker 15: No, I just know you. I just know you from
- 25:00Speaker 15: your stuff. I know your stuff.
- 25:01Speaker 19: We didn't have a run-in at the bathroom at.
- 25:04Speaker 15: The Phoenix Airport. We were sword fighting.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Oh, Sky Harbor.
- 25:08Speaker 15: No, but like, so how do we all know you?
- 25:11Speaker 19: Well, I would hope you know me from doing magic
- 25:14Speaker 19: on Netflix.
- 25:15Speaker 20: That's it.
- 25:16Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 15: I would hope. Well, but there's other stuff. The magic
- 25:19Speaker 15: show on Netflix.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:21Speaker 13: Yes.
- 25:21Speaker 15: I watched that whole special. The day it came out.
- 25:23Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. It's like all, this is, I
- 25:27Speaker 2: like to not prepare for interviews.
- 25:29Speaker 19: I like this.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I like that.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Because I like, like it's literally, I remember that. In fact,
- 25:32Speaker 2: there's something, did you sit with a kid? There was
- 25:34Speaker 2: a kid. You did a magic show.
- 25:35Speaker 15: Yeah, yep, yep, yep. And you did something with the kid.
- 25:38Speaker 15: I remember coming in.
- 25:39Speaker 3: You're making this amazing gesture.
- 25:40Speaker 15: I'm wondering, what did I do?
- 25:42Speaker 7: You look really good.
- 25:44Speaker 2: You look really good. I'm so glad you're in here
- 25:46Speaker 2: right now.
- 25:46Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 15: That was a Netflix special, too. Well, I had a series,
- 25:51Speaker 15: Magic for Humans, on Netflix.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Magic for Humans.
- 25:53Speaker 15: That was it. That was your show. I think I can.
- 25:57Speaker 15: We came in here and talked about it on the air.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I love magic. Thank you. Thank you.
- 26:00Speaker 15: So, Matt, but there was something out. Anyway, but go on.
- 26:02Speaker 19: Yeah, and I used to, like, in the back of
- 26:04Speaker 19: the day, host Cupcake Wars and a bunch of random
- 26:06Speaker 19: stuff that was not magic related.
- 26:07Speaker 2: So sometimes people.
- 26:08Speaker 15: Are like, Cupcake Wars.
- 26:09Speaker 9: Yeah, I love Cupcake Wars.
- 26:10Speaker 19: And I'm like, yeah, I see you. But so I'm
- 26:13Speaker 19: shooting my, this is.
- 26:14Speaker 2: My second live.
- 26:15Speaker 19: Special on netflix shooting at the celebrity theater in the round.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Great place to shoot it like a couple of comedy
- 26:20Speaker 3: specials have been done there that look great you're just
- 26:23Speaker 3: gonna look it's electric the vibe how do you do
- 26:26Speaker 3: that in a circle because you can't get away backstage
- 26:28Speaker 3: and change you.
- 26:29Speaker 19: Can't hide well yeah that wasn't my idea my pitch
- 26:31Speaker 19: was like netflix i want people to see i'm a
- 26:34Speaker 19: magician with nothing to hide so i said let's do
- 26:37Speaker 19: it in the nude And they were like, how about
- 26:40Speaker 19: in the round? And I was like, there you go.
- 26:42Speaker 19: So I put my clothes on and I went on
- 26:43Speaker 19: my way.
- 26:44Speaker 2: And here we are.
- 26:45Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 26:45Speaker 2: The Netflix people, they pay big, big. I mean, this
- 26:47Speaker 2: is your second or third Netflix special. That means you're
- 26:50Speaker 2: making bank.
- 26:51Speaker 19: Well, I, I, I, you know, there's a bigger budget,
- 26:54Speaker 19: but I'm just putting it all into the show. So
- 26:56Speaker 19: it's going to be a, I think, uh, you know,
- 26:59Speaker 19: so dazzle. If you're taping it tonight, Friday and Saturday.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Um, When will it air on Netflix?
- 27:05Speaker 19: I think early 27.
- 27:06Speaker 8: Really?
- 27:06Speaker 2: That'd be really cool to see. I went to go
- 27:08Speaker 2: see Tom Segura perform there.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And it was cool to watch.
- 27:12Speaker 15: Was it the taping?
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, the taping, to watch the taping. And then to
- 27:15Speaker 2: see it come out like six months later, and I
- 27:17Speaker 2: was like, oh, I was there. You were there.
- 27:18Speaker 19: But what's fun, I mean, as you know from seeing
- 27:20Speaker 19: my stuff, like it is very interactive. So it's not
- 27:22Speaker 19: like just the audience is kind of sitting in the dark.
- 27:24Speaker 19: Like I'm breaking the fourth wall.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Oh, that's awesome.
- 27:28Speaker 15: That's cool. Is there some magic you can do in here?
- 27:30Speaker 19: Bring some personalities.
- 27:31Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 27:32Speaker 15: Do you happen to have a deck of cards?
- 27:34Speaker 14: I do.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Listen.
- 27:38Speaker 15: I'm so excited. John Jay doesn't prepare, but I have.
- 27:42Speaker 2: I'm so excited you're here.
- 27:43Speaker 19: We didn't set anything up.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I got a deck of cards here. No, of course not.
- 27:46Speaker 19: Before I came in, I thought to myself, what's John
- 27:48Speaker 19: Jay going to say? And that's hard to predict, right?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 27:52Speaker 15: Nobody knows. You don't even know.
- 27:53Speaker 17: No, no, no.
- 27:54Speaker 19: I took one card and I made a prediction. So
- 27:56Speaker 19: if you, all right, I don't know if you have
- 27:57Speaker 19: a favorite card, but I want you to try to
- 27:59Speaker 19: stump me because there's 52 cards in the deck.
- 28:01Speaker 15: Ace, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Ten, jack, queen, king, clubs.
- 28:03Speaker 19: There's clubs, there's hearts, there's diamonds, spades. Pick a random card.
- 28:06Speaker 19: There's no way I would have known you were about
- 28:08Speaker 19: to say it. Right now and say it out loud?
- 28:10Speaker 15: Say it out loud.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Three of clubs.
- 28:12Speaker 19: No way I could have known that.
- 28:12Speaker 15: No, I just made it up.
- 28:13Speaker 2: That's random.
- 28:13Speaker 15: He doesn't say that all the time. You don't have
- 28:15Speaker 15: a three of clubs tattoo.
- 28:16Speaker 6: No.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Yet.
- 28:17Speaker 3: No, nothing.
- 28:17Speaker 13: Yet.
- 28:18Speaker 2: I can even change it if you want. No, three
- 28:20Speaker 2: of clubs.
- 28:20Speaker 19: No, so I went through this deck, and you can
- 28:23Speaker 19: kind of describe to the people here, but I went
- 28:25Speaker 19: through the deck, and I took one card, and I
- 28:27Speaker 19: turned it the other way. One out of 52 cards.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Okay, fair. Yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 19: And it happens to be the three.
- 28:33Speaker 7: Shut up. I would say one of the choices, but it's.
- 28:36Speaker 3: One in 52.
- 28:37Speaker 15: How? Dude, that is so crazy.
- 28:40Speaker 2: How is that possible?
- 28:41Speaker 15: Fun, right?
- 28:42Speaker 3: How is that possible?
- 28:44Speaker 7: That made my head hurt.
- 28:45Speaker 3: What?
- 28:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:47Speaker 3: That's impressive. What's amazing is we didn't even tell him
- 28:49Speaker 3: we were going to ask him to do a trick.
- 28:50Speaker 7: No.
- 28:51Speaker 14: No.
- 28:52Speaker 19: Dude.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Or an illusion.
- 28:53Speaker 15: An illusion.
- 28:54Speaker 2: An illusion, Michael.
- 28:55Speaker 15: JustinWilman.com.
- 28:57Speaker 2: By the way, does that mean when you're doing it
- 29:00Speaker 2: at the Celebrity Theater, I'm assuming the magic's going to
- 29:02Speaker 2: be way more... Oh, yeah, we got some big stuff.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Jumbotron cameras. I mean, how do people run back?
- 29:08Speaker 19: Yeah, Jumbotron.
- 29:08Speaker 15: I mean, luckily, Celebrity Theo, like no one is far
- 29:10Speaker 15: from the stage.
- 29:11Speaker 9: That's crazy.
- 29:12Speaker 19: There's like 2,200 people in there, but everybody is like
- 29:14Speaker 19: 100 feet away. So at the most. And so it's
- 29:17Speaker 19: going to be it's going to be in your face.
- 29:19Speaker 19: I mean, and I've got some pretty big and crazy.
- 29:21Speaker 2: How did you do that?
- 29:24Speaker 22: That is crazy.
- 29:26Speaker 15: I love blowing this guy's mind. This is the best.
- 29:29Speaker 15: The best.
- 29:30Speaker 2: You got another one?
- 29:31Speaker 19: Well, you know, my last special, do you remember how
- 29:34Speaker 19: I tried to memorize every zip code in America?
- 29:36Speaker 3: I don't know if you.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Saw that one.
- 29:38Speaker 15: I saw your whole special. I'm trying to remember.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Special.
- 29:40Speaker 15: I mean, I didn't know.
- 29:41Speaker 2: It was for everyone.
- 29:41Speaker 19: This is not really magic, but do you remember the
- 29:43Speaker 19: zip code of where you grew up originally?
- 29:45Speaker 15: Yeah, I think.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. What's the zip code? I think it's 92019.
- 29:51Speaker 19: Okay, so that's down in Southern California, 92019. I think so, yeah, 92019.
- 29:55Speaker 19: If I had to guess specifically, that is El Cajon, California,
- 29:58Speaker 19: I believe. 92019 is El Cajon.
- 30:03Speaker 13: 92019.
- 30:03Speaker 15: Welcome back to John Jay. He doesn't even remember our
- 30:06Speaker 15: zip code here. I don't know our zip code here.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Wait, wait, wait.
- 30:08Speaker 15: Do you remember your zip code?
- 30:09Speaker 3: Yes, I do.
- 30:10Speaker 6: What is it?
- 30:10Speaker 13: 85048.
- 30:10Speaker 14: 85048.
- 30:10Speaker 15: Okay, that's a little closer. 85048.
- 30:17Speaker 19: Let's see how specific I can be. Well, that's Phoenix proper, right?
- 30:20Speaker 14: Yes.
- 30:20Speaker 19: I don't want to dock your address here. Do you
- 30:22Speaker 19: have a more obscure one?
- 30:24Speaker 6: 85296. 85296.
- 30:24Speaker 3: I got mine again.
- 30:25Speaker 7: That's Arizona as well.
- 30:26Speaker 15: 85296 is Gilbert.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yes!
- 30:27Speaker 19: Mine's pretty easy for you.
- 30:28Speaker 14: 83127.
- 30:28Speaker 13: 83127.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Okay, very easy for me.
- 30:29Speaker 6: Should be.
- 30:29Speaker 15: Is that Star Valley Ranch? Say it again.
- 30:47Speaker 2: 8-3-1-2-7.
- 30:47Speaker 15: 8-3-1-2-7.
- 30:48Speaker 19: Oh, not 8-5. Okay, 8-3-1-2-7. Let's see here.
- 30:53Speaker 15: I'm kind of going through the parameters in my head.
- 30:55Speaker 2: 8-3-1.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Might be 8-2-1-3-1. Oh, my gosh.
- 30:57Speaker 7: Okay, boy.
- 30:58Speaker 15: Which one is it?
- 30:59Speaker 7: You got to pick one.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Sorry, I had to find remember. It should be close
- 31:04Speaker 3: to your old neighborhood. 8-2-1-3-1.
- 31:05Speaker 14: 8-2-1-3-1.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Okay, not close to.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Do you mean 6-1-3-1?
- 31:12Speaker 19: 8-2-1-3-1 is nowhere near where I've ever lived, but if
- 31:15Speaker 19: I had to be.
- 31:16Speaker 15: Yeah, because that's not actually a zip code.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I'm from St.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Louis, Missouri, originally.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 31:21Speaker 19: So you mean 6-3-1-2-1.
- 31:22Speaker 15: Come on, Rich. How do you not know where that's from?
- 31:25Speaker 15: You mean like Creep Coraladoo?
- 31:29Speaker 3: That wasn't me. De Pere?
- 31:31Speaker 15: You're talking about De Pere Frontenac?
- 31:32Speaker 3: That's too fancy. That's too fancy.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:34Speaker 15: Well, you don't remember your St. Louis zip code. That'd
- 31:37Speaker 15: be a 6-3.
- 31:37Speaker 19: I was 6-3.
- 31:38Speaker 2: 1-4-1.
- 31:38Speaker 3: St.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Louis.
- 31:39Speaker 15: Where'd you go to high school? That's the question we
- 31:42Speaker 15: ask in St.
- 31:42Speaker 8: Louis.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Well, I grew up in Florissant. So they may have
- 31:44Speaker 3: closed that.
- 31:44Speaker 6: Okay.
- 31:46Speaker 3: My zip code might not exist anymore.
- 31:48Speaker 19: It might not.
- 31:48Speaker 3: They might have bombed that already.
- 31:50Speaker 2: R.I.P.
- 31:50Speaker 15: John Jay, you remember yours now?
- 31:52Speaker 2: I looked it up. It's 91932.
- 31:53Speaker 19: Wow, we were not even in the ballpark. No, not
- 31:57Speaker 19: even close on Bulldog.
- 31:58Speaker 2: 91932.
- 31:59Speaker 15: That is Imperial Beach, California.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Dude, you are nuts.
- 32:04Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 32:05Speaker 2: You are freaking nuts, dude.
- 32:07Speaker 15: You are nuts.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Dude, thanks for stopping by.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Thanks for having me. What a trip, man.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Good to see you. That was awesome.
- 32:12Speaker 15: All right, it's John Jay and Ruth.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Good job. Hey guys, this is the John Jay and
- 32:16Speaker 2: Rich tradition. We like to do a sound effects theater.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Sound effects theater. Rich, how do you explain sound effects theater?
- 32:21Speaker 3: Well, because we find that it's really challenging for both
- 32:25Speaker 3: Kyle and Peyton to do sound effects. So we like
- 32:27Speaker 3: to highlight that in story form. So we have written
- 32:32Speaker 3: a couple of stories. Peyton, you will go first and
- 32:34Speaker 3: then Kyle. And then we will decide who does the
- 32:38Speaker 3: best sound effects as we leave room for you to
- 32:40Speaker 3: make sound effects inside your story. So Peyton, we'll start
- 32:43Speaker 3: with you.
- 32:44Speaker 16: All right.
- 32:45Speaker 3: In this story we call The Haunted Mansion.
- 32:49Speaker 13: Woo!
- 32:51Speaker 3: Settle down. The clock struck midnight. I didn't ask for
- 33:00Speaker 3: a sprinkler. I asked for a clock striking midnight.
- 33:02Speaker 8: Ding! Ding!
- 33:04Speaker 14: Ding!
- 33:04Speaker 3: It's the witching hour.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Did you have to do like nine more of those?
- 33:08Speaker 19: Ding!
- 33:09Speaker 3: Ding!
- 33:10Speaker 6: Ding!
- 33:10Speaker 14: Ding!
- 33:12Speaker 3: That's seven. Ding, ding, ding, ding. It was the witching
- 33:17Speaker 3: hour on Halloween at the old Norwood mansion. A storm
- 33:23Speaker 3: was raging outside. She was 15 and upon a dare
- 33:31Speaker 3: walked up to the front door and knocked three times. No,
- 33:36Speaker 3: you got to do the sound effects with your mouth.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Then rang the doorbell. Nobody answered, so she rang it incessantly.
- 33:47Speaker 14: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 33:50Speaker 3: <HAL> <HAL> Nobody answered, so she busted a window to
- 33:52Speaker 3: get in. The door slowly creaked open. Somewhere in the woods,
- 33:59Speaker 3: a wolf howled. And then a black cat hissed from
- 34:03Speaker 3: the stairs. Then a ghost burst out of the closet
- 34:07Speaker 3: and screamed. The kids screamed back. The ghost got scared
- 34:14Speaker 3: and ran away screaming. The kid walked into the kitchen
- 34:19Speaker 3: humming a spooky song and made a haunted sandwich. Tonight
- 34:26Speaker 3: was a good night.
- 34:27Speaker 7: That was so good.
- 34:29Speaker 15: Those are good sound effects.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Not bad.
- 34:32Speaker 7: You win.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Not bad. You are not out of this one, Missy.
- 34:37Speaker 3: You must compete.
- 34:38Speaker 2: All right. This is a Kyle story. It was high
- 34:43Speaker 2: noon in the 1800s in Tombstone, Arizona. The wind was
- 34:49Speaker 2: howling through the dusty streets. A cowboy rode into town,
- 34:59Speaker 2: his horse clopping up to the bar. The horse neighed.
- 35:08Speaker 14: Again.
- 35:09Speaker 2: As he stepped off his horse, a rattlesnake hissed, rattled
- 35:11Speaker 2: under his boot. And it rattled away. He pulled out
- 35:23Speaker 2: his six-shooter out of his holster, cocked it, and fired
- 35:27Speaker 2: all six bullets at the snake. He missed. Not a
- 35:34Speaker 2: good cowboy. The snake withered away, or swithered away. He
- 35:41Speaker 2: walked into a bar whistling a cowboy song. And he
- 35:46Speaker 2: ordered a cowboy drink.
- 35:48Speaker 3: I'll take a beverage. A beer, please.
- 35:52Speaker 2: All of a sudden, a window smashed. Glass was shattered everywhere.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Kyle moaned in ecstasy.
- 36:03Speaker 14: What?
- 36:09Speaker 2: What now?
- 36:09Speaker 3: So that's the way it is.
- 36:11Speaker 7: Did you read that right?
- 36:13Speaker 15: What the heck?
- 36:13Speaker 7: You got a little freaky. You got into some smut
- 36:15Speaker 7: right there.
- 36:16Speaker 15: You're in the company of the cowboy.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Well, I'm getting there, but she moaned it. What was it?
- 36:19Speaker 2: Moaned it? I don't know. I'm not going to lie
- 36:29Speaker 2: to you guys. It ended a long time ago.
- 36:31Speaker 15: I added that one.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Surprise, surprise.
- 36:35Speaker 6: Surprise.
- 36:35Speaker 2: It was a good day.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Well, I think you both did really good.
- 36:41Speaker 16: This time around.
- 36:43Speaker 2: You called Kyle's husband and played the clip of Hermione
- 36:46Speaker 2: and Ecstasy. He'd be like... Is that Kyle having a.
- 36:50Speaker 9: He'd be like, yep.
- 36:53Speaker 2: That's right. Good job. Good game.
- 36:56Speaker 3: High five.
- 36:56Speaker 2: And that's SFX Theater. Meet Cutes. Didn't really know what
- 37:02Speaker 2: that was until Rich told me. Kyle didn't know what
- 37:04Speaker 2: it was, so she saw an article on it and
- 37:05Speaker 2: we got into it. We want to know about Meet Cutes.
- 37:07Speaker 2: That's a way you met somebody that has nothing to
- 37:10Speaker 2: do with technology.
- 37:11Speaker 8: Right?
- 37:12Speaker 2: Yep. Debbie, thanks for holding. What's your Meet Cute?
- 37:16Speaker 4: Hey, good morning.
- 37:17Speaker 5: So my best friend worked at an office supply store
- 37:20Speaker 5: and I would go in and visit her all the time.
- 37:23Speaker 5: And this one time I went in and I looked
- 37:25Speaker 5: over in the distance and I saw this guy just
- 37:27Speaker 5: standing on a ladder and I saw his butt. And
- 37:31Speaker 5: that's all it took. Just this cute little brown hiney
- 37:35Speaker 5: just staring back at me. And I'm like, I got
- 37:37Speaker 5: to see what this guy looks like when he turns around.
- 37:39Speaker 5: And he turned around and I was like, yep, his
- 37:41Speaker 5: butt was just perfect because his face was perfect. Everything
- 37:45Speaker 5: was perfect about him.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Wow. And it worked out. I'm assuming you're with him
- 37:49Speaker 2: or you dated him for a while or married to him?
- 37:51Speaker 5: Married 30 years.
- 37:52Speaker 7: Oh, my gosh.
- 37:56Speaker 14: So, Debbie, like, do you approach him and you're like, hey,
- 37:58Speaker 14: I like your butt.
- 37:59Speaker 7: I also like your face. How do you have that conversation?
- 38:04Speaker 5: Well, we were dating for a while because I thought,
- 38:06Speaker 5: you know what? I don't want to scare this guy
- 38:07Speaker 5: off because it's just too good to be true. But
- 38:11Speaker 5: when he found out, he was like, I like this
- 38:14Speaker 5: girl even more now.
- 38:16Speaker 3: What a great story. I love that.
- 38:18Speaker 2: You know what? There's this show I'm watching right now
- 38:19Speaker 2: on HBO. It's called Youth. Have you guys started watching it?
- 38:22Speaker 2: Anyone started watching it yet? I've seen a little preview.
- 38:24Speaker 2: It's really good. It's the woman from Bad Sisters, and
- 38:26Speaker 2: she's turning, she just turned 50. She's divorced. Her kid's
- 38:30Speaker 2: going off to college. She's starting to date again, and
- 38:31Speaker 2: she's dating this one guy that she really likes, and
- 38:33Speaker 2: they've hooked up already. And they're like holding hands, walking through,
- 38:36Speaker 2: and they're kissing outside in London. And he says, man,
- 38:40Speaker 2: he goes, I really like your butt. It's so soft.
- 38:42Speaker 2: And you see her face like, what? And then she's like,
- 38:46Speaker 2: that to her is not a compliment. And then later
- 38:49Speaker 2: they're texting each other. She's like, yeah, I can't wait
- 38:52Speaker 2: to touch your soft butt. And then they cut to
- 38:53Speaker 2: her and she's doing all these butt exercises. And she's like,
- 38:57Speaker 2: get her butt firm. I highly recommend. Debbie, thanks for
- 39:00Speaker 2: calling in.
- 39:00Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Let's see what Mark. Mark, you got a meet cute story?
- 39:05Speaker 16: I have a meet cute story for sure.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Let's hear it.
- 39:08Speaker 16: So my wife moved from Australia.
- 39:11Speaker 13: At eight years old.
- 39:12Speaker 16: I moved from Colorado at eight, and we met at church,
- 39:15Speaker 16: and now we've been married 27 years.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Whoa, and you met at eight years old? At eight.
- 39:21Speaker 16: I turned 50 this year, so we've known each other
- 39:23Speaker 16: a long time. We started dating at 16.
- 39:24Speaker 19: Wow.
- 39:24Speaker 16: We've been married ever since.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Did you kind of have a feeling when you were
- 39:29Speaker 3: eight that this was? the one?
- 39:31Speaker 16: No, she did. She was totally hot for me back then.
- 39:33Speaker 15: Of course.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I can't imagine it.
- 39:37Speaker 16: No, we knew at 16. We knew at 16. That's cute.
- 39:40Speaker 16: We were going to get married.
- 39:42Speaker 2: There was this girl I liked when I was young
- 39:43Speaker 2: like that. I think I was, what grade are you
- 39:45Speaker 2: in fifth grade?
- 39:45Speaker 3: 10?
- 39:45Speaker 14: 10?
- 39:46Speaker 2: Sure. Angie. Angie. I wanted to do the Grease play,
- 39:51Speaker 2: and I wanted to be Danny Zuko, and I wanted
- 39:52Speaker 2: her to be Angie. What's her name?
- 39:54Speaker 19: Sandy.
- 39:54Speaker 16: Sandy.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm glad it didn't work out. I can't
- 39:57Speaker 2: imagine being married to Angie right now. Mark, thanks for
- 40:02Speaker 2: calling in.
- 40:02Speaker 16: Hey, thanks.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Wendy, what's your meet cute story?
- 40:07Speaker 21: Mine is that I actually met my husband when I
- 40:09Speaker 21: was an oil changer at the mechanic shop that he
- 40:13Speaker 21: worked at.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 40:15Speaker 4: We've now been together.
- 40:16Speaker 2: For 20 years.
- 40:17Speaker 13: Wow.
- 40:18Speaker 2: How did he hit on you, or did you hit
- 40:19Speaker 2: on him?
- 40:20Speaker 18: We both did it.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Mutual?
- 40:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I was mutual.
- 40:24Speaker 24: I was a single mom, but yeah.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Okay, so you changed his oil.
- 40:28Speaker 11: His and whoever else was in the shop at the time.
- 40:31Speaker 2: All right. Thank you, Wendy. Strong. Chris, what's your meet
- 40:34Speaker 2: cute story?
- 40:35Speaker 10: Good morning. So my story is it was my best
- 40:40Speaker 10: friend's birthday. I was her designated driver. We went to
- 40:44Speaker 10: a bar, obviously. And at some point in the night,
- 40:48Speaker 10: I look over and see her having like a verbal
- 40:51Speaker 10: yelling match with this man. And I walk over to
- 40:54Speaker 10: break it up. I'm like, girl, you got to get away.
- 40:56Speaker 10: She'd been drinking all day. So then this happened more
- 41:00Speaker 10: than once. And finally, I was like, what are you
- 41:03Speaker 10: guys fighting about? And she said, that guy wants to
- 41:06Speaker 10: talk to you. And I told him he's not good
- 41:08Speaker 10: enough for my best friend. Anyway, so we have been
- 41:11Speaker 10: married for 29 years. Turns out.
- 41:14Speaker 9: He was good enough.
- 41:16Speaker 7: She said anyway. Was she in your wedding?
- 41:22Speaker 10: She was. She was my maid of honor, yes.
- 41:25Speaker 3: That's a great.
- 41:25Speaker 10: Although she did her toast and she was like, if
- 41:28Speaker 10: it weren't for me, they'd have never met. Or it
- 41:32Speaker 10: wouldn't have been so traumatic.
- 41:34Speaker 9: It would have happened sooner.
- 41:35Speaker 7: It would have been probably easier.
- 41:37Speaker 2: That's great, Chris. Thanks for calling in. Margaret, good morning.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Thanks for holding. What's yours?
- 41:43Speaker 6: Hi.
- 41:44Speaker 22: Can you hear me?
- 41:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 41:46Speaker 22: Okay. Mine is, I was driving down the road. I
- 41:52Speaker 22: was driving down Bethany Home Road, and I had to
- 41:55Speaker 22: stop at a red light, and there was a car
- 41:57Speaker 22: in front of me, and the car in front of
- 41:58Speaker 22: me had three guys in it. And the one driving
- 42:02Speaker 22: was watching me in the mirror, and the other two
- 42:04Speaker 22: turned around and looked at me, and they didn't think
- 42:07Speaker 22: nothing of it, and I went past them, and I
- 42:08Speaker 22: went And I pulled into where I lived, and they
- 42:11Speaker 22: were following me. And I stopped because I wasn't taking
- 42:14Speaker 22: them to where I lived. And two of them came
- 42:17Speaker 22: up to my window, started talking to me. And the
- 42:21Speaker 22: one says, hey, can I get your number? And I said, well,
- 42:23Speaker 22: why don't you give me your number? Of course, you know,
- 42:26Speaker 22: being safe. And so I took the number. And every
- 42:29Speaker 22: time I called, he was never there. So I started
- 42:32Speaker 22: talking to this other gentleman. And as it turned out,
- 42:36Speaker 22: he asked me out. Well, we went out. He went
- 42:40Speaker 22: home that night, got my name tattooed on his arm,
- 42:43Speaker 22: and told his mother I am marrying her. That was
- 42:47Speaker 22: the week of Christmas. He proposed to me February 1st,
- 42:51Speaker 22: and we were married March 23rd, and we've been married
- 42:54Speaker 22: 41 years.
- 42:55Speaker 15: Holy smokes.
- 42:58Speaker 5: Wow.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Well, wow. That's fate jumping in, isn't it?
- 43:01Speaker 13: That's awesome.
- 43:02Speaker 2: The tattoo is so dramatic.
- 43:03Speaker 7: That's how you.
- 43:04Speaker 10: Know you're dedicated.
- 43:05Speaker 5: He was only 17.
- 43:05Speaker 13: Wow.
- 43:07Speaker 22: His mom had to take him to get permission.
- 43:09Speaker 2: See, that's what I was talking about earlier. If you
- 43:11Speaker 2: met a guy and he did that today, you'd be like, whoa, stalker.
- 43:15Speaker 9: And also they were following her in the car.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Also stalker.
- 43:18Speaker 2: All right, Margaret, that's a great story.
- 43:21Speaker 7: That's so good, though.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you for calling in, Margaret. Thank you for listening.
- 43:25Speaker 22: You're welcome.
- 43:25Speaker 1: John Jay and Rich. We are like a whole vibe.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Amanda, what's your meet cute story? Good morning.
- 43:31Speaker 18: So when I was in college, I lived in a
- 43:35Speaker 18: college apartment where it was all college students outside of ASU.
- 43:40Speaker 18: And I actually wanted.
- 43:41Speaker 23: To have a party.
- 43:42Speaker 18: So I went to go buy things for the party
- 43:46Speaker 18: and got my fake ID taken away at the store
- 43:50Speaker 18: where I was going to purchase said things. Went back
- 43:53Speaker 18: to our apartment. We were so bummed. We were like, okay,
- 43:56Speaker 18: we can't let this night be ruined. Let's go party
- 43:59Speaker 18: hopping around the apartment complex. So I literally walked out
- 44:03Speaker 18: of my apartment door and down the back steps into
- 44:06Speaker 18: an open door where I met the man who is
- 44:09Speaker 18: now my husband, in 2005. That's cute.
- 44:15Speaker 2: That's a meet-cute story.
- 44:16Speaker 14: I love that you didn't like getting your ID taken
- 44:18Speaker 14: like killer vibes because that can definitely be like a
- 44:21Speaker 14: vibe killer.
- 44:24Speaker 18: It did kill the vibe for a little bit, but
- 44:26Speaker 18: then I bounced back when I saw.
- 44:28Speaker 2: The cute guy.
- 44:28Speaker 3: It started off as.
- 44:30Speaker 18: A real bummer of a night and it worked out
- 44:33Speaker 18: because that's what 21 years ago.
- 44:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:37Speaker 2: That's great, Amanda. Thanks for sharing that with us. By
- 44:39Speaker 2: the way, my son told me about this website that
- 44:40Speaker 2: they go to to get the fake IDs. And, um,
- 44:44Speaker 2: I thought it'd be funny if I went and got
- 44:45Speaker 2: one that says I'm 21. That's really good. Emily, what's
- 44:53Speaker 2: your meet cute story?
- 44:55Speaker 20: Oh, sorry. I couldn't hear you. Um, so I was, um,
- 44:59Speaker 20: I was 16, no, I was 17 at the time,
- 45:01Speaker 20: just turned 17. I was, um, applying for jobs and
- 45:06Speaker 20: I was about to go home and I was like, okay,
- 45:08Speaker 20: I'm going to go into one last place and I
- 45:11Speaker 20: wasn't applying online. I was actually going into these places
- 45:14Speaker 20: and I went into a restaurant and there was three,
- 45:20Speaker 20: two male hosts at the front and one female and
- 45:25Speaker 20: I asked them for an application and the one One
- 45:27Speaker 20: of the guys started asking me how old I was
- 45:29Speaker 20: and whatnot, and I went out front to fill it out.
- 45:32Speaker 20: And while I was out there, he told his buddy
- 45:35Speaker 20: he was working with, I'm going to marry that girl
- 45:37Speaker 20: one day. And we've been married for five years, but
- 45:42Speaker 20: we've been together for 13. And I also met my
- 45:45Speaker 20: best friend there.
- 45:46Speaker 3: But did you get the job?
- 45:51Speaker 14: Yes, I did.
- 45:51Speaker 6: Yay!
- 45:55Speaker 20: He was actually dating somebody else at the time, and
- 45:58Speaker 20: so was I, and we both left that person.
- 46:01Speaker 14: So, yeah.
- 46:03Speaker 3: When you know, you know.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Thank you, Emily, for sharing that story with us. That
- 46:06Speaker 2: is a cute, meet-cute story. Oh, I'm Jessica. Hi.
- 46:13Speaker 6: Hi.
- 46:14Speaker 19: Hi, what's your meet-cute?
- 46:17Speaker 21: I met my husband at the dog park. And basically
- 46:23Speaker 21: I had a puppy beagle. He had a puppy Rottweiler and, um,
- 46:28Speaker 21: we were going to the dog park. I would dress
- 46:31Speaker 21: up every day because I liked him and he paid
- 46:34Speaker 21: absolutely no attention to me. So I just figured that
- 46:37Speaker 21: he was probably gay after a certain point.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Cause you look good. He should pay attention to you.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 46:46Speaker 21: And then, um, finally like one July and it was,
- 46:50Speaker 21: blazing hot. It was actually July 4th. We were the
- 46:53Speaker 21: only people in the dog park and he finally asked
- 46:56Speaker 21: me out and apparently he wasn't gay because I guess
- 47:00Speaker 21: he just would go to the dog park and right
- 47:02Speaker 21: before he went to the dog park he got super stoned.
- 47:05Speaker 21: So he wasn't gay. He was just stoned. And he
- 47:09Speaker 21: wasn't paying attention to anybody. So we've been together now
- 47:13Speaker 21: 15 years.
- 47:14Speaker 15: Wow.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Right on, Jess.
- 47:17Speaker 1: And we loved we.
- 47:19Speaker 21: Love dogs and our retirement plan is to do the whole,
- 47:23Speaker 21: you know, love pup type of thing and open a shelter.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Maybe you could just take ours over. Well, I mean,
- 47:31Speaker 2: at some point I want to hand it over. You
- 47:32Speaker 2: know what I mean? I want to be like, yeah,
- 47:35Speaker 2: that's great, Jessica. Thanks for calling in. What a great story.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 47:38Speaker 21: Thank you. Love you guys.
- 47:39Speaker 2: Love you too. Ava. What's up? What's your meat kid story?
- 47:43Speaker 14: Hi.
- 47:45Speaker 23: I just had an opinion about, I don't think meet-cutes
- 47:48Speaker 23: really count unless it's like current days because of course
- 47:52Speaker 23: you're not going to meet someone on a hinge in 1999.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Well, that's true, but there's still, there were dating apps
- 47:59Speaker 2: or dating things back then.
- 48:00Speaker 3: For sure.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 48:02Speaker 18: But I feel like.
- 48:03Speaker 23: We invented the term meet-cute to show because nowadays that's
- 48:07Speaker 23: all how people meet. So if you do it naturally nowadays,
- 48:10Speaker 23: it's like, well, that's a shocker.
- 48:11Speaker 2: That's a good idea. You know what? If you text,
- 48:14Speaker 2: if you ask, when did, so you'd have to eliminate,
- 48:17Speaker 2: So you want to hear a meet cute story that's current.
- 48:20Speaker 2: So when did dating apps start?
- 48:22Speaker 3: I remember in 98 going on a date from a
- 48:25Speaker 3: place called It's Just Lunch. And you would meet somebody
- 48:28Speaker 3: for lunch. And that was in 98 and that was online.
- 48:30Speaker 9: But for this specific thing, I think you could say
- 48:33Speaker 9: like in the last five years.
- 48:34Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 48:35Speaker 2: I just went to Chachapati. They started. Oh, I said,
- 48:39Speaker 2: when did it start? I missed height. I said, when
- 48:42Speaker 2: did the first fasting app start?
- 48:44Speaker 3: No, no.
- 48:45Speaker 14: No, no.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Dating app. I meant dating app. Hold on. Dating app. Okay.
- 48:49Speaker 23: I just feel like nowadays everyone you meet has met
- 48:52Speaker 23: on Tinder or Hinge. So, like, nowadays it's really hard
- 48:55Speaker 23: to find someone who met naturally.
- 48:57Speaker 14: Okay.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Here we go. Here we go. So, what did you say, Rich?
- 49:00Speaker 3: I remember being on a dating site in, like, 98.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Okay, online dating websites existed in the 1990s, but dating
- 49:06Speaker 2: apps designed for smartphones took off in the late 2000s,
- 49:10Speaker 2: early 2010s. Grindr, 2009. Ooh, head of the game. They
- 49:14Speaker 2: were early.
- 49:14Speaker 17: 2012 was Tinder.
- 49:15Speaker 16: Bumble, 2014.
- 49:15Speaker 6: Match.com, 1990.
- 49:27Speaker 23: I guess it was on all the commercials. You did
- 49:28Speaker 23: hear about that.
- 49:29Speaker 10: Back in the day.
- 49:30Speaker 2: I just want to change the game a little bit.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Ava's killing the romance. It's got to be a meet-cutes.
- 49:34Speaker 23: It would be cool to see someone more recent, though.
- 49:37Speaker 9: I see why Ava's saying that, because the article that
- 49:39Speaker 9: I saw, that was the whole thing. People are sick
- 49:41Speaker 9: of meeting people on dating apps, and that's why meet-cutes
- 49:44Speaker 9: are sort of coming back. People are longing to just
- 49:48Speaker 9: meet someone at the coffee shop.
- 49:50Speaker 2: So eliminate dating apps, and then eliminate bars and clubs. Because,
- 49:54Speaker 2: of course, you meet people there. It's got to be
- 49:55Speaker 2: somewhere else.
- 49:56Speaker 7: Like, yeah, like we said.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Like a funeral.
- 49:57Speaker 15: Like a grocery store.
- 49:58Speaker 14: What?
- 49:59Speaker 2: Like you're at a funeral and you meet somebody.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Like a grocery store.
- 50:01Speaker 7: Maybe if you're on a hike walking your dog.
- 50:04Speaker 14: Right.
- 50:04Speaker 3: That's a meat death.
- 50:05Speaker 7: Or at the neighborhood, you know, HOA meeting.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Okay, that's good. That's good.
- 50:09Speaker 15: You never know. You never know.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Okay, Ava, changing the rules.
- 50:12Speaker 2: You can always critique our show. Thank you, Ava. That's
- 50:14Speaker 2: a good point.
- 50:15Speaker 16: It's a really good point.
- 50:16Speaker 2: By the way, Ava, are you in a relationship? Did
- 50:18Speaker 2: you meet somebody in a cute way?
- 50:21Speaker 23: We met on Hinge.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Oh, she's like, we want to meet cute story.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Okay, thanks.
- 50:28Speaker 3: I see that.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Mercedes, what about you? When did you meet cute story?
- 50:31Speaker 2: How did you meet him and when?
- 50:34Speaker 24: Hi, good morning. My name is Mercedes, of course. I
- 50:37Speaker 24: met my husband now of 42 years. Actually, our anniversary
- 50:42Speaker 24: is October 22nd. I met him when I was maybe
- 50:46Speaker 24: four or five years old. I remember meeting him in Mexico, actually.
- 50:54Speaker 24: But our parents are from the same town. He was
- 50:57Speaker 24: born in California and, of course, me in Mexico. But
- 51:00Speaker 24: our parents or my dad used to send stuff to
- 51:03Speaker 24: Mexico with his parents when they used to go visit.
- 51:07Speaker 24: And so, you know, I remember us playing. I used
- 51:11Speaker 24: to have this huge ball. I don't know, John Jay,
- 51:14Speaker 24: if you know the Chavo del Ocho, those big balls
- 51:17Speaker 24: that Kiko had. So him and I used to play together.
- 51:21Speaker 24: And then, long story short, I moved, of course, to
- 51:25Speaker 24: the States. I had my quinceañera. He was my chambelán
- 51:29Speaker 24: de honor. A month after my quinceañera, I moved in
- 51:33Speaker 24: with him. And I was 15. He was going to
- 51:37Speaker 24: be 17. And 42 years later, we were still together.
- 51:41Speaker 2: That's crazy. That's amazing. What a great story. Thanks, Mercedes.
- 51:46Speaker 2: You know, it's funny, like, back in the day, you
- 51:47Speaker 2: talk about, like, the age gap. You know, my grandfather
- 51:49Speaker 2: was 27 in Mexico and married my grandmother at 17.
- 51:54Speaker 6: Oh.
- 51:55Speaker 2: I know.
- 51:56Speaker 15: And they were married for 60 years.
- 51:58Speaker 13: Yes.
- 51:59Speaker 24: My mom was 17.
- 52:00Speaker 5: My dad was 27.
- 52:02Speaker 6: And, yeah, yeah.
- 52:04Speaker 5: Things have changed.
- 52:05Speaker 24: I would love to say, you know, they're still together. But, no,
- 52:08Speaker 24: my dad was, you know, hit and run and killed
- 52:11Speaker 24: when he was 28. Yeah, so, yeah, my mom was
- 52:18Speaker 24: a widow at 28, never were married again, but she
- 52:21Speaker 24: had seven kids, and we're still here.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Well, thank you, Mercedes.
- 52:25Speaker 24: Yeah, I just wanted to share my story.
- 52:27Speaker 2: I'm glad you did. That's very unique. Thank you for
- 52:29Speaker 2: calling in.
- 52:30Speaker 24: Thank you, guys. Have a wonderful day.
- 52:32Speaker 4: Thanks for listening.
- 52:33Speaker 2: That's totally different than what Ava was saying.
- 52:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Me and the dating app. I mean, they met when
- 52:37Speaker 2: they were four. Jesse, I'm just going to throw it
- 52:39Speaker 2: out there. If anyone's got a meet-cute story that they met,
- 52:42Speaker 2: During technology, the last, let's go with the last five,
- 52:46Speaker 2: six years, not an app, grocery store or a funeral
- 52:52Speaker 2: or a wedding or somewhere different. And it did involve technology.
- 52:55Speaker 2: We'd like to hear it because that is random. That
- 52:57Speaker 2: doesn't happen any days. That's what the article is about.
- 53:00Speaker 2: It's John Jay and Rich.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I don't know how you found us. But I'm so
- 53:05Speaker 1: thankful that you did. It's John Jay.
- 53:09Speaker 2: All right, we got tickets to Charlie XCX. Caitlin's our contestant.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Good morning, Caitlin.
- 53:13Speaker 23: Good morning.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Nick, what are we playing?
- 53:16Speaker 1: You guys are playing Noise Machine today. It's spooky season.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Who's ready for Halloween?
- 53:21Speaker 15: I am.
- 53:21Speaker 2: I am.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Cool.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I'm going to quiz you guys on monsters today. You're
- 53:25Speaker 1: going to play a clip. You tell me what that
- 53:27Speaker 1: monster is, who that monster is, and you get a point.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Does that sound good?
- 53:31Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 53:31Speaker 15: Perfect.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Let's start with John Jay.
- 53:32Speaker 22: Sounds good.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Is that a T-Rex from the Jurassic movies?
- 53:43Speaker 1: Can I guide you a little bit?
- 53:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:45Speaker 2: It's a monster.
- 53:46Speaker 1: T-Rexes were real. This is a fictional movie.
- 53:50Speaker 2: T-Rexes were real.
- 53:51Speaker 8: Okay, okay.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Well, that's good because, you know, there's a show on
- 53:53Speaker 2: Netflix called Monsters of God, which is all the reptiles. So, okay,
- 53:56Speaker 2: a monster. So then it is Godzilla.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Godzilla is exactly what we're looking for, John Jay.
- 54:00Speaker 15: Good job.
- 54:02Speaker 1: One point on the board already today.
- 54:05Speaker 13: Rich?
- 54:06Speaker 15: It's alive!
- 54:07Speaker 2: It's alive!
- 54:09Speaker 14: It's alive!
- 54:12Speaker 3: Um, that is... So that is not the monster. That
- 54:16Speaker 3: is the doctor who created the monster. So I'm going
- 54:19Speaker 3: to say Frankenstein's monster.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Dr. Frankenstein is actually the correct answer, but that's Frankenstein's
- 54:25Speaker 1: monster would have also been accepted.
- 54:26Speaker 15: So good job, Reg.
- 54:27Speaker 1: One point for you.
- 54:29Speaker 14: Peyton!
- 54:30Speaker 15: God will rot down his face with his decapitated.
- 54:37Speaker 4: What?
- 54:37Speaker 3: I got it.
- 54:38Speaker 7: Okay, let me.
- 54:40Speaker 8: Hear it again.
- 54:41Speaker 7: God will rub down his face.
- 54:43Speaker 2: With his decapitated.
- 54:46Speaker 7: That's Hamilton.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Hamilton.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Hamilton.
- 54:49Speaker 1: You go with Hamilton for your monster?
- 54:50Speaker 14: It's given singing.
- 54:51Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 54:51Speaker 7: I've never seen Hamilton. Maybe he's a bad guy.
- 54:53Speaker 14: All right.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Anybody else?
- 54:55Speaker 2: Rich.
- 54:56Speaker 15: Yeah, go ahead, Rich.
- 54:56Speaker 3: That's from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. That is the Van Helsing musical.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a Dracula musical.
- 55:02Speaker 2: That's good. I thought maybe Rocky Horror Picture Show. That
- 55:06Speaker 2: was good.
- 55:06Speaker 1: Yeah, we were looking for Dracula, so it's okay.
- 55:08Speaker 15: Oh, that's all right. I'll take Kyle.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Nice try, Peyton.
- 55:12Speaker 14: Kyle!
- 55:13Speaker 2: Everybody know I'm a monster.
- 55:17Speaker 16: That's funny.
- 55:18Speaker 7: But it's supposed to be fictitious.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Not necessarily.
- 55:22Speaker 7: Okay, so is that Kanye West?
- 55:24Speaker 17: I know it.
- 55:27Speaker 7: Is that okay?
- 55:28Speaker 9: I thought it was Kanye, but if you know it, Caitlin.
- 55:31Speaker 15: You go.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Oh, well, yeah, Kanye.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it is Kanye. It is, yeah, it's Kanye.
- 55:35Speaker 15: Good job.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I didn't hear Kyle say it, so that's my bad.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Good job, Kyle. All right, so one point for everybody
- 55:41Speaker 1: thus far. Caitlin, it is now your turn.
- 55:44Speaker 13: Pumpkin!
- 55:45Speaker 2: Is that your favorite?
- 55:46Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 55:51Speaker 16: Oh my gosh.
- 55:53Speaker 3: I don't think I know this one.
- 55:54Speaker 18: Can I hear it again?
- 55:55Speaker 13: Sure. Pumpkin!
- 55:57Speaker 2: Is that your favorite?
- 55:58Speaker 15: Uh-huh.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 56:03Speaker 1: If I told you, they all float down here.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Is it Jeffrey Epstein? Oh, my God.
- 56:06Speaker 7: John Jay.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 56:09Speaker 1: All right. One point for John Jay.
- 56:11Speaker 14: It's a creepy clown.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:13Speaker 1: It is a creepy clown.
- 56:14Speaker 2: You're right. How about we go.
- 56:16Speaker 1: With Pennywise from the It franchise?
- 56:20Speaker 2: I thought maybe it was from Monsters, Inc. For real.
- 56:23Speaker 6: Oh, really?
- 56:23Speaker 15: Monsters, Inc.
- 56:24Speaker 6: Oh, you guys.
- 56:25Speaker 2: The cute little monsters?
- 56:26Speaker 1: Monsters, Inc.
- 56:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:27Speaker 2: I mean, I was wrong, but I just thought.
- 56:29Speaker 1: You guys get ready for round two. That's a great clip.
- 56:32Speaker 1: All right. So after one round, everybody on the board
- 56:35Speaker 1: at one point. John Jay starts round two.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Peter, Peter, Peter.
- 56:40Speaker 9: No good deed goes unpunished.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Oh, oh, oh, oh.
- 56:47Speaker 2: That's Goblin.
- 56:49Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Goblin.
- 56:50Speaker 3: Goblin.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Green Goblin.
- 56:51Speaker 16: All right.
- 56:52Speaker 1: So John Jay now takes a commanding lead.
- 56:55Speaker 14: Rich.
- 56:55Speaker 6: Rich.
- 57:01Speaker 3: Well, that's from Nightmare on Elm Street. That's Freddy Krueger.
- 57:03Speaker 15: Yeah, Freddy Krueger. All right.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Two points for Ridge Bear. Peyton Whitmore.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Oh, no. Stop.
- 57:13Speaker 7: I'm actually scared. That's going to make me cry. Okay,
- 57:22Speaker 7: so that is Tiny Tim tiptoe. From Insidious, that red, evil,
- 57:27Speaker 7: scary monster.
- 57:28Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I've never seen the movie. It scares me too much.
- 57:30Speaker 7: I'm literally crying right now. That did not.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Peyton, I talked about that movie this weekend.
- 57:35Speaker 3: Insidious is unnerving.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Said how much she liked it. So there you go, Peyton.
- 57:38Speaker 1: There you go.
- 57:38Speaker 2: One point.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Why would you do that? You're officially on the board
- 57:40Speaker 1: just for that reason because she's crying now. Oh, my God.
- 57:43Speaker 1: What's happening? All right. So John Jay, Rich, Peyton, tied up.
- 57:49Speaker 22: Kyle.
- 57:50Speaker 6: Kyle. I'm watching.
- 57:54Speaker 14: You.
- 57:54Speaker 3: I'm always watching.
- 57:56Speaker 9: Now that's from Monsters, Inc.
- 57:58Speaker 15: That is from Monsters, Inc.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Roz in particular is what we are looking for. Kyle
- 58:01Speaker 1: with two points. If you can get this, Caitlin, don't
- 58:05Speaker 1: think too hard about it, but I will give you
- 58:07Speaker 1: ten points.
- 58:16Speaker 18: Am I just bad at horror movies?
- 58:18Speaker 2: Not just your gosh.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Don't think too hard about it. If you hear something
- 58:22Speaker 1: howling at the moon and they've changed.
- 58:25Speaker 15: I thought you were going Cujo.
- 58:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I had that.
- 58:33Speaker 1: I had that on my list too, but I was like,
- 58:35Speaker 1: I can't do Cujo and a werewolf. And so that's
- 58:38Speaker 1: why the game went off. Off the rails a little bit, guys.
- 58:41Speaker 3: No, the machine can drift a little.
- 58:42Speaker 16: It's fine.
- 58:43Speaker 6: Great game.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Right, Kayla, you're going to go see Charlie X6. Congratulations.
- 58:46Speaker 15: No way.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Thank you, guys.
- 58:48Speaker 10: We didn't even do that great.
- 58:50Speaker 18: I appreciate it.
- 58:51Speaker 2: We always win here. Unless you play Minute to Win It.
- 58:54Speaker 3: It's a game you always lose.
- 58:55Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 58:56Speaker 2: What I'm doing at all.
- 58:58Speaker 1: Broadcasting live across the world right now. This is the
- 59:04Speaker 1: John Jay and Rich radio program.
