• 0:28
Hey everybody. Good morning from the chicken
• 0:30
coop. Oh, look at him on the money
• 0:32
with that one. So today we are talking about
• 0:35
our addiction to chaos. And I know this is going to be a
• 0:39
hard conversation for some people to listen to and admit
• 0:43
that they have this problem, but some people are addicted to
• 0:47
chaos. So what does that look like?
• 0:49
What do I mean when I say that? Well, if you know, let's say you
• 0:54
have a household and that household is chaotic.
• 0:56
Every single morning you wake up and it's just hell getting your
• 1:01
kids out the door and you just can't find your keys and the
• 1:06
dogs are annoying you, the kids can't get their stuff together.
• 1:12
You know, this is this, and this is a regular occurrence.
• 1:14
Now, this is not a one off. This is a regular occurrence
• 1:16
because we all have these one off chaotic days, right?
• 1:20
But I'm talking about this being a regular occurrence for you.
• 1:25
There is a great chance that this chaos has become part of a
• 1:31
pattern, which is a pattern of addiction to having it happen.
• 1:35
And we get something from it, because if we hang on to things,
• 1:38
we get something from them. And that could be the story we
• 1:42
get to tell about it, how terrible our mornings are.
• 1:44
It could be the feeling that we get from it, of being able to go
• 1:49
to our partners and complain that Oh my gosh, you're not
• 1:52
doing enough and you don't understand how crazy it is.
• 1:55
And I can't do this all by myself, blah blah blah.
• 1:58
There is an addiction to that, and we need to stop the madness
• 2:04
because the chaos is real and it is put out there all around us
• 2:08
all the time. If you're taking in news, you
• 2:12
know how chaotic it is. I mean, if if you've been a
• 2:15
human being and been alive over the last three years, you
• 2:18
understand the craziness that has been put upon us, Whether
• 2:23
you know you believe it politically, you don't believe
• 2:26
it politically. Whatever it is, the chaos that
• 2:29
has been thrown our way through the pandemic, through just
• 2:33
hearing about Monkey Pox, whatever it might be, everything
• 2:38
has been so amped up, so high level and so chaotic that we
• 2:43
have become desensitized to even recognizing it in ourselves.
• 2:49
And if we jump back to the example I was using about your
• 2:52
own house in the morning and the chaos that you experience, if
• 2:58
that's happening for you on some level, you have to look and say,
• 3:01
wait, I'm in control. It's my house, it's your house.
• 3:04
It's your morning and I'm letting this happen now.
• 3:08
I can assure you if there's one thing that I am rigid about,
• 3:13
it's my non chaotic mornings because it sets the tone for the
• 3:17
day. If you can get a handle on the
• 3:19
mornings, you have a better chance of managing the chaos
• 3:23
throughout your day. It's just a benchmark.
• 3:26
If you go into it in the right mindset, you're going to be able
• 3:28
to come through it with the right mindset.
• 3:31
But you've got to start at the beginning.
• 3:33
You got to start and look at your morning and say, OK, am I
• 3:38
creating this chaos as a habit? Have I become addicted to it?
• 3:42
Have I just been allowing it? Have I been ditching the the
• 3:46
information giving to me because I don't want to deal with it?
• 3:49
So what's so important is for you to look at the whole morning
• 3:54
as a baseline and say where is it coming from?
• 3:58
What's happening? Where are the where are the
• 4:01
downfalls? Where are the things that that
• 4:03
are my glitches? Where are the things that give
• 4:05
me issues? And I don't care if it's small,
• 4:09
tiny things like in my world, if we don't have the, you know,
• 4:14
dishwasher turned on the night before, or at least set on so
• 4:18
that it will wash overnight, then you wake up in the morning.
• 4:21
You don't, you have dirty dishes.
• 4:23
You don't have enough of what you need.
• 4:24
  You don't have enough silverware.
• 4:26
You don't have somebody's favorite cup that causes chaos.
• 4:29
That's something that can start the downhill slide immediately.
• 4:34
So the prep work for a great morning does start the night
• 4:39
before. So you have to look and see, OK,
• 4:43
where, well, where are my hiccups?
• 4:44
Because if you don't look at where the problems are from a
• 4:47
very neutral standpoint, and what do I mean by that?
• 4:52
If you're in the heat of the moment, it's very hard to
• 4:55
discern what has to happen because you'll just start
• 4:57
blaming other people. But if you sit down today when
• 5:00
you are in a very non immediate emotional state about it, let's
• 5:06
say you're outside your house and you're thinking about, OK,
• 5:08
let me let me go through a normal morning now you're not in
• 5:11
the chaos right now. So you can actually think about
• 5:13
the chaos and come back with a pretty solid definitive line of
• 5:18
how it works in your morning and you can lay it out and say
• 5:22
without emotion being triggered. That's the way to look at it and
• 5:26
then figure out where can I take these these hiccups and get rid
• 5:30
of them. You know, I want, I want them
• 5:32
gone. I don't want to have this chaos
• 5:34
be part of my life anymore, but it has to start somewhere and
• 5:38
that benchmark is you identifying it.
• 5:40
So my suggestion would be that today when you were in a neutral
• 5:45
place, when you are non emotional, start thinking about
• 5:49
your chaos, start thinking about, and it might be that you
• 5:52
know as you're going through this, you're like, it's not
• 5:53
really my mornings, it's my evenings, It's when I come home
• 5:56
or it might be when I get to the office.
• 5:57
That's when all hell breaks loose.
• 5:59
Sure, this is this can happen anywhere, but typically it all
• 6:04
starts in the morning, waking up late, not having the clothes you
• 6:08
wanted. Somebody can't find a shoe and
• 6:11
it sets the tone of the entire day.
• 6:14
Sometimes it sets the tone for the entire week, so I challenge
• 6:19
you today to take that on, look at it, see if you can figure out
• 6:23
those pieces and then set yourself up to win.
• 6:28
I will talk to you tomorrow. Bye.
