- 0:14Speaker 1: Tell me what it's all. Luke Jones, vocalist for CoDeeN.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Online as well as Maddie Simmons, He's our main guitarist,
- 0:30Speaker 2: writes all the epic riffs and sends them to me
- 0:33Speaker 2: and I'll try and put some lyrics to them, and and.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah, we just that's that's what we do.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Nice right, And who else? We got to a gay mate?
- 0:45Speaker 4: Are you going good?
- 0:47Speaker 3: Very good?
- 0:47Speaker 5: Very good?
- 0:48Speaker 3: So we're here today with some very exciting news because
- 0:52Speaker 3: Coadum unleash your debut single, Tatooed Sin is Friday, August
- 0:56Speaker 3: and twenty ninth. So how are the nerves?
- 0:57Speaker 4: Boys with pumps? Super pump. This was our first track
- 1:03Speaker 4: that that I sent to Luke in his truck many
- 1:09Speaker 4: years ago, just go and reaching out to him and saying, hey,
- 1:12Speaker 4: you know, like, you know, would you like to write
- 1:14Speaker 4: some tunes. This is the very first one that we,
- 1:18Speaker 4: you know, worked on, so we're pretty pretty pumped to
- 1:20Speaker 4: get it out out there.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Finally, absolutely no, So I can tell us a bit
- 1:24Speaker 3: more about it from a musical perspective and what you
- 1:26Speaker 3: were done for.
- 1:29Speaker 4: This one is a riff that I've been playing this
- 1:31Speaker 4: rift for years and years with you know, the thoughts
- 1:35Speaker 4: of putting something to it. But it's kind of a
- 1:36Speaker 4: bit like Carnival, you know, a bit of tools sort
- 1:39Speaker 4: of inspired, you know, like referee riffage, and you know
- 1:46Speaker 4: it's got some yeah, you know, I guess perfect circle
- 1:49Speaker 4: sort of vibes to it.
- 1:50Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yeah, what's you about lyrically?
- 1:55Speaker 5: Now?
- 1:55Speaker 1: To you you Luke, It's it's about.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I suppose, trying to be accepted and trying to, yeah,
- 2:12Speaker 2: make your way through life challenges, I suppose, and trying
- 2:17Speaker 2: not to be rejected, you know, everything that goes along
- 2:23Speaker 2: with those those feelings that that that the life throws
- 2:29Speaker 2: at us.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And with a symbolic you know, representation of of being
- 2:35Speaker 1: a permanent.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Fixture on you know, in somebody's life or in somebody's
- 2:42Speaker 2: psyche as a tattoo, but not quite being accepted and
- 2:47Speaker 2: not quite you know, making it to that that end goal.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Of of there just being full acceptance, I suppose.
- 2:57Speaker 3: And you're going to be dropping it with a music
- 2:58Speaker 3: video too. So does the video tie in with the lyrics.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it does. It's there's a there's a
- 3:07Speaker 1: fair bit of what would you say, abstract I suppose,
- 3:16Speaker 1: like there's a there's a bit.
- 3:18Speaker 2: There's there's some manic parts in there that I think
- 3:23Speaker 2: Maddie Gills captured pretty well, especially in the breakdown towards
- 3:27Speaker 2: the end of the of the song.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a there's a part in there that it's.
- 3:32Speaker 2: About stop calling and stop calling and just because the.
- 3:39Speaker 1: The guy that's being called can't take it anymore.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And yeah, it's it gets pretty manic in there, So yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 2: I think it's it is a representation of the of
- 3:48Speaker 2: the lyrics as well.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah, now, as you mentioned, this is your debut single,
- 3:52Speaker 3: so as the band, what sorts of things do you
- 3:54Speaker 3: sit out and discuss or work through going into your
- 3:57Speaker 3: first ever release, Sam, this is you.
- 4:03Speaker 4: You know, we've just been really excited about, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 4: getting our music out there really, so you know, we've
- 4:10Speaker 4: you know, we've been working in the background for about
- 4:13Speaker 4: three three or four years now, probably just slowly like
- 4:17Speaker 4: building our songs together. So you know, we're just really
- 4:22Speaker 4: excited to finally get the get the tunes out into
- 4:26Speaker 4: the public. You know, like our fans have been asking
- 4:29Speaker 4: for a recording for a while, so we've we're pretty
- 4:31Speaker 4: cup to get it out there.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Thank God, you haven't been playing live for over two
- 4:35Speaker 3: years without releasing any music, So what was the thought
- 4:38Speaker 3: process by that? Was that a deliberate thing? What did
- 4:40Speaker 3: it just work out that way?
- 4:42Speaker 4: It's been a slower process recording. We've worked with our
- 4:48Speaker 4: engineer Lee Rolf and right in the middle of recording
- 4:51Speaker 4: he you know, he moved house and moved his studio
- 4:55Speaker 4: and it was pretty pretty well time just there for
- 4:57Speaker 4: a little bit, so we were waiting for him to
- 5:01Speaker 4: you know, finished moving, to finish off that stuff. But
- 5:05Speaker 4: we really wanted to use him because he's I've got
- 5:07Speaker 4: a great sound for like heavy music.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So and he knows us, well, yeah, we've don't leave
- 5:14Speaker 2: for a long time, so he's he's a he's a
- 5:18Speaker 2: part of the furniture, really, isn't he?
- 5:20Speaker 4: Yeah? Absolutely, But it means that we've had a lot
- 5:23Speaker 4: of time to play live and you know, hoping a
- 5:26Speaker 4: sound even more so we're looking forward to, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 4: doing some more gigs.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Speaking of live, right on the streets, you guys are
- 5:35Speaker 3: pretty damn good on stage. So run us through a
- 5:38Speaker 3: typical code of live show and what people can expect
- 5:40Speaker 3: if we come to see us.
- 5:44Speaker 4: General awesomeness really like you know, I believe you know
- 5:51Speaker 4: you know, for the record, I don't think Luke's done
- 5:54Speaker 4: a show without with his shirt on yet, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 4: a little bit inspired by you know, my shirt off.
- 6:05Speaker 4: But but look, you know, looks looks a bit like
- 6:08Speaker 4: I Pop. You know, you're gonna probably probably see some
- 6:11Speaker 4: skin and some tats.
- 6:15Speaker 1: It's it's it's high energy.
- 6:18Speaker 2: And you know, although we although you know, we know
- 6:24Speaker 2: our craft, we we do tend to get lost in
- 6:26Speaker 2: the moment, you know, in a good way, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 2: And there it's the crowd definitely fools, the yeah, the
- 6:38Speaker 2: energy that that we exub that's for sure.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Nowato City is also your debut release for your new label,
- 6:45Speaker 3: X Music. So what sorts of things to sign it
- 6:48Speaker 3: with a growing, austrained label like that open up for
- 6:50Speaker 3: you guys.
- 6:53Speaker 4: We're really excited to work with Tim. Yeah, he's been great.
- 6:57Speaker 4: I think I'm working alongside the acts that are on
- 6:59Speaker 4: the label too. We've done a few gigs now with
- 7:03Speaker 4: the guys and they've they've got some fantastic bands and
- 7:07Speaker 4: we're really looking forward to, you know, working working with
- 7:10Speaker 4: him in the future. Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually read it quite from Tim and the
- 7:14Speaker 3: press release. He's a guy music in case anyone doesn't know.
- 7:17Speaker 3: But he said, you, guys add a different dimension to
- 7:20Speaker 3: ex music's family. You think that's a good thing. What
- 7:23Speaker 3: does he mean by that?
- 7:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope the yeah probably references our music. Probably,
- 7:30Speaker 4: you know, there's some you know, a different vibe about it,
- 7:34Speaker 4: you know, I guess compared to the other bands, you know, hopefully, Yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 4: he's referring to the epics of our bands.
- 7:43Speaker 3: He doesn't really have a bad bone in his body,
- 7:45Speaker 3: that man, does he Yeah?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, especially coming from Tim as well. He's he's been
- 7:51Speaker 2: in the game a long time. So to to have
- 7:55Speaker 2: a comment like that from Tim, that's where that is
- 7:58Speaker 2: a badge.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Now you started seeing standalone single guys, So she's part
- 8:04Speaker 3: of a bigger picture.
- 8:07Speaker 4: We've we've got another single coming out from maybe about
- 8:12Speaker 4: six weeks after this one called Sorrow Down, and after
- 8:17Speaker 4: that we've got the ep coming out so on the.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to check the date, twenty third November. Sorry,
- 8:30Speaker 1: twenty got in my head.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, no, nice, there's this song a good
- 8:36Speaker 3: representation of what people can expect from or is it
- 8:40Speaker 3: just sort of scratching the surface of what you got
- 8:41Speaker 3: off us?
- 8:43Speaker 4: Let's scratching the surface.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Absolutely, yeah, yeah, absolutely yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 2: We can't wait to get back into the studio to
- 8:49Speaker 2: record some of these the longer tracks that we've got.
- 8:52Speaker 1: They really are journey tracks, that's for sure.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Absolutely yeah, Yeah, everyone's going to be a surprise.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Mate. Then the meantime, is there any gigs or anything
- 9:02Speaker 3: coming up where people.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Can check you out?
- 9:04Speaker 2: Yeah, We've got the gig coming up at the Junkyard
- 9:08Speaker 2: at Maitland that is on the September the twenty first.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I think I'm pretty sure that's a Sunday the twenty first. Yet,
- 9:20Speaker 2: for anyone that knows the Green Junction at Maitland made,
- 9:24Speaker 2: it's an institution. It's had some yeah, big acts run
- 9:28Speaker 2: through there. We had our first gig there. Actually, I
- 9:34Speaker 2: was going back probably two months ago now and yeah,
- 9:38Speaker 2: I was swooping bullets mate playing there, just because of
- 9:41Speaker 2: the just all the posters on the wall and all
- 9:44Speaker 2: the bands that have been through there. It was an
- 9:45Speaker 2: absolute privilege to be here to have our name on
- 9:49Speaker 2: that stage.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Just for sure.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I'll bet you something that too on that like looking
- 9:54Speaker 3: around at all that shit before you actually go on stage,
- 9:56Speaker 3: like it give you butterflies. But I'd have to pump
- 9:58Speaker 3: you right up to, isn't it?
- 10:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah, absolutely, mate, absolutely, And I'm a local boy
- 10:02Speaker 2: from you know, the Hunt Alley and and you know
- 10:07Speaker 2: that that really is an institution, the Green Junction Hotel,
- 10:11Speaker 2: the junk yard as I call it now, it's it's
- 10:15Speaker 2: it's it's it's the place to be to be heard,
- 10:18Speaker 2: that's for sure.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Fantasty guys. Well, thanks for your time. It's been the
