- 0:00SPEAKER_14: Good morning, and welcome to T Bone Sports One Fan All Game Podcast 22.
- 0:09SPEAKER_14: Well, yesterday we talked about the Broncos, University of Colorado Buffaloes, Alabama Crimson Tide, and then a little bit about the Aves and a little bit about the Nuggets, but today is Nuggets and Avs.
- 0:22SPEAKER_14: Both played last night.
- 0:25SPEAKER_14: Real quick, congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers for winning the 2026 World Series last night.
- 0:34SPEAKER_14: In a 4-1 game over the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 0:38SPEAKER_14: So congratulations to Milwaukee for getting your first World Series.
- 0:42SPEAKER_14: Now maybe the Rockies can do that, but uh yeah, no, I don't really think that.
- 0:48SPEAKER_14: Last night they uh the Colorado Avalanche played the New Jersey Devils for the second time.
- 0:53SPEAKER_14: The first time they played them, they you know, pretty much lost and and just they looked horrible.
- 1:01SPEAKER_14: And they just didn't look like they wanted to play, and they were just they it was it was a rough, rough go.
- 1:08SPEAKER_14: But you know, for now, the last couple games here for the Evs, you know, when when you go back and and you you look at kind of where they started, you know.
- 1:21SPEAKER_14: They started beginning of October, the third, and they won against the St.
- 1:25SPEAKER_14: Louis Blues 6-1, which was a really, really, really good game, you know, and and they added a few more games, so 84 games now on the NHL, so they started earlier.
- 1:34SPEAKER_14: Then you lose to the Winnipeg Jets, which is one of those teams that the Avalanche have always really struggled against.
- 1:39SPEAKER_14: Then you beat the Calgary Flames, you wind up losing to the Toronto Maple Leaves on the 10th of October, and a lot of people are thinking maybe that's going to be the you know, a a potential Stanley Cup Finals matchup, which would be awesome to to see the abs back in there.
- 2:00SPEAKER_14: Then they played home and home, so they played in Dallas, and then the very next night they came back to Denver and played Dallas again.
- 2:05SPEAKER_14: They won three to two in Dallas and then lost three to two in Denver.
- 2:09SPEAKER_14: They won up beating the Pittsburgh Penguins coming back and winning that game.
- 2:12SPEAKER_14: Then they went on a little road trip.
- 2:14SPEAKER_14: A three-game or two-game road trip, and they lost to the Flyers three to two, they lost to the J the New Jersey Devils four to three, then they beat the Tampa Bay Lightning six to three.
- 2:28SPEAKER_14: They were in Nashville, they lost to Nashville.
- 2:31SPEAKER_14: And last night they beat the New Jersey Devils five to two.
- 2:36SPEAKER_14: So, you know, lose at at home and then and or lose on the road in New Jersey and then able to to win at home against the Devils, which is good, you know, and they got fifteen points, and it's still pretty early in the season, you know, and uh, you know, the wild and and though the conference the the the avalanche are in is always, you know, really, really tough.
- 2:57SPEAKER_14: But quick recap of what happened here in last night's Avalanche game.
- 3:10SPEAKER_14: And we'll play quick little thing and a couple quick videos on uh how the Aves were able to to come back and to to win this game.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: While Brent Burns and Sam Malinsky both posted two assists in net for the avalanche, Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: I thought it was great tonight.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Landisgog said about the team's performance.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: We didn't get rewarded until the third period, but I thought we did a good job of sticking with it.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: I thought we were hungry and were on pucks, and obviously, we know they played last night, but we wanted to make sure we just bounced back and played our game more to our identity and who we are as a team in and out of the defensive zone.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: We talked about it yesterday at practice, but we wanted an increase on just about everything, get better at everything.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Defensive zone, transition game, and offensive zone.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Our special teams I thought was good tonight, obviously.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: The power play gets one, and the penalty kill just stepped up big when we needed it.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I thought the guys responded well.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: With the win, the avalanche improved to 7-5-1.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: How it happened, Connor Brown put the Devils on the board first, with a short-handed goal at 12-21 of the opening frame via a right circle shot of the rush that deflected in, with his hit at 17-26 of the first period.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Landisgog posted the 1,572nd hit and became the franchise's all-time leader in hits.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Landisgog tied the game at 10.58 of the second period on the power play with his fifth goal of the season via a shot from the right doorstep set up by Jaden Swartz's cross-ice feed, late in the second period and early in the third, the Avalanche killed, of a five-on-three penalty that included four saves from Blackwood.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Codry gave the abs a 2-1 led at 2.45 of the third period with his second goal of the season via a shot from the left doorstep set up by Roy's cross crease pass, with the secondary assist on the goal, Burns passed Chris Chelios and Eric Carlson for the most points by a defenseman in NHL history, 949.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Colorado doubled its lead at 3.47 of the third period.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: When Kelly scored his second goal of the season via a right circle shot off the rush, Matt Kinnan gave the Aves a 4-1 led at 12 o'clock of the third period with his eighth goal of the season via a breakaway goal after splitting two Devils players.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: The Avalanche took a 5-1 lead at 12.30 of the final frame when Schwartz scored his fourth goal of the season by capitalizing on a rebound via a shot from the left slot off the rush.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Brown made it 5-2 at 15.35 of the third period via a backhand shot from the low slot.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Next up, the Avalanche concludes its homestand on Saturday against the Calgary Flames at 8 p.m.
- 6:06SPEAKER_14: MDT on altitude, altitude plus So, you know, a good game for the Fs.
- 6:11SPEAKER_14: You know, obviously fell behind and then were able to get some goals.
- 6:14SPEAKER_14: Alanis Gog again, getting in, getting in there and then and really being able to be that spark.
- 6:21SPEAKER_14: You know, how how they were able to to really sit there and and and happen, you know, and and you know, come back.
- 6:29SPEAKER_14: We're gonna hear from Jared Bettnar, you know, on the game and see what his thoughts were about, you know, the uh uh Avalanche beating the devils.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: Are you guys the loss last week to the scene like uh motivation coming?
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 6:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_04: I wouldn't want to help you get back on that on that penalty phone getting that.
- 6:59SPEAKER_17: I don't know.
- 7:00SPEAKER_17: You know, like he he was like he wasn't a huge part of our penalty kill last year, and it's a job that we're trying to work him and Svetch into this year, but it's still a work in progress, especially with him missing time.
- 7:12SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 7:13SPEAKER_16: Just how hard is it to evaluate sort of where you are at when you've played as many games 11 and 7 as you have this?
- 7:21SPEAKER_17: Not hard.
- 7:22SPEAKER_17: Yeah, because you because you're evaluating more than just like individuals is one line, smalling combinations, your overall team green game, anything within that power play, penalty kill, you know, how you're playing defensively, how you're playing offensively.
- 7:39SPEAKER_17: So there's lots to evaluate regardless of what kind of numbers you play.
- 7:43SPEAKER_17: I don't feel like we've been any better at 12 and 6 than we were 11 and 7.
- 7:47SPEAKER_17: You know, we play good games at both and poor games at both.
- 7:50SPEAKER_17: So I don't think that's as big a deciding factor as some people maybe think it is.
- 7:56SPEAKER_09: Going back to Nikolai, just in terms of his overall play, like I'm curious is like his villa, the way he plays, is this is he like the closest guy you can deploy to what you had in the foul for all those years?
- 8:09SPEAKER_17: Yeah, different yeah, I think they're different players, but I'd like what Nick does is like when we've seen him at his best, like he rarely throws the puck away, right?
- 8:18SPEAKER_17: Like, and then that's one thing Val had too.
- 8:19SPEAKER_17: Like he'd hang on to it, he'd skated, he could play in traffic, he could hold on to the puck while guys are duplicating on him and still make a play.
- 8:27SPEAKER_17: Like he's really sort of sneaky offensively when you get him in traffic and and he has the puck on his stick, you know, whether he's shooting or getting into a hard area or distributing the puck from there.
- 8:39SPEAKER_17: Like he's a not an easy guy, kind of elusive when he counter flows the puck and all his own play.
- 8:44SPEAKER_17: So there's there's some similarities there.
- 8:46SPEAKER_17: And it's something quite frankly that we could use in our lineup right now.
- 8:50SPEAKER_17: So it's nice to get him back.
- 8:52SPEAKER_17: Last one, Billy?
- 8:53SPEAKER_17: Paul.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: Uh I was gonna say Bruv knows how it talked about, you know, getting to an early start, maybe getting some more support for all three zones.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: And I I know you mentioned yesterday it's hard to coach motivation, it's hard to coach things like that.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: But for you specifically, as far as uh full 60, getting started early, how do you coach that integrated?
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: How do you get that going in your past right again?
- 9:12SPEAKER_17: Well, I think you start the discussion number one, you know, like we like we went over a lot of things and talked about a lot of things yesterday and today.
- 9:21SPEAKER_17: And and I feel like this game is about us.
- 9:24SPEAKER_17: Like, you know, like it it it we just saw Jersey, we know what to expect from Jersey, they're at the top of their game right now, you know, four straight wins.
- 9:32SPEAKER_17: It's like what do we need to do?
- 9:35SPEAKER_17: So like just like sort of breaking it down for our guys sort of step by step, what it looks like, good and bad, what the differences are, and giving us like a foundation to start from, right?
- 9:46SPEAKER_17: And you can't play a full 60 if you don't start on time, right?
- 9:49SPEAKER_17: But so if you want, if you're trying to put together a full game, like you've got to be ready to go from the drop of the pocket candies into it there on the back to back coming in, we're rested.
- 9:58SPEAKER_17: We had a good practice day, good video session.
- 10:01SPEAKER_17: Like we should be prepared for tonight to go play the right way with the right amount of energy, and that's what we want to see.
- 10:07SPEAKER_08: All right, one last one video.
- 10:08SPEAKER_08: With Jersey, what stands out about just the the depth of their forward group after the moves they pick as fast enough?
- 10:14SPEAKER_17: They're quick.
- 10:15SPEAKER_17: I mean, they're they've all well, you know, like this uh like I don't see it that differently from what they've been doing the last handful of years.
- 10:22SPEAKER_17: They've been building it, right?
- 10:23SPEAKER_17: And it's it's a fast, dynamic team.
- 10:25SPEAKER_17: They hang on to the puck and always own play.
- 10:27SPEAKER_17: Like you've got a team that creates scoring chances with a five-man offense that's I don't know, fourth best in the league and oh his own turnover rate, I think it was, second in Ozone pass completion.
- 10:39SPEAKER_17: Like they're not gonna give the puck back to you.
- 10:41SPEAKER_17: You have to go check it back, you know.
- 10:43SPEAKER_17: They're also, I think, fourth in the league in screens and second in rebound scoring chances, you know, over the last 10 games.
- 10:50SPEAKER_17: And so they're getting to the net and delivering the puck there too, so they're not gonna make it easy in that area either.
- 10:55SPEAKER_17: So you're like when it comes to arriving in D zone coverage and your D-zone coverage play and your rush coverage, you you've got to be dialed in or they're gonna create chances on you.
- 11:05SPEAKER_17: The better you are at that part of the game, the more you're gonna be able to go play on the other end.
- 11:09SPEAKER_14: You know, and you can hear in the in the pregame there that that he knows the the importance of of this game and and how you've already played it once and and you you weren't beaten by them, and they just played much better, and and your team didn't play well, and now they're coming, you know, Jersey's coming off the back to back, and and you're really gonna be there to to to to see how they are, and and they're uh, you know, they won four games in a row, and you can tell Vetnar is is worried about how these how his guys are gonna play this game and and and do everything.
- 11:40SPEAKER_14: But uh, you know, you you can see that.
- 11:42SPEAKER_14: We'll take a quick break and then come back and talk about the Nuggets.
- 11:52SPEAKER_14: Okay, so Nuggets played as well last night.
- 11:57SPEAKER_14: And they played the Pelicans again after having to play them the first time, that they actually had to come back and you know, come back and and and win that game and overtime and and they were playing poorly and you know they were at home and you know the the fans were booing them.
- 12:18SPEAKER_14: And, you know, at the post-game conference, you know, Nikola Jokic had had a little bit to say on that.
- 12:29SPEAKER_14: He he definitely was uh not a happy person with what they seem to have said in said uh said things.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: And and and I can see where he's not happy, but I can also see where you know you're you're you're uh kind of missing the point of of what you know what what he wanted and he didn't he didn't appreciate the fans booing him.
- 13:09SPEAKER_14: And you know, he his response was, you know, those fans of the booed shouldn't be shouldn't be allowed to to come back and you know you know this and that and and I understand where he's upset and I get it.
- 13:24SPEAKER_14: So let's let's hear the his comments and then kind of go off on that a little bit and then we'll do a quick little recap of their game last night.
- 13:31SPEAKER_11: So glad that you managed that because we get boo the the first home game, and I think those fans could boo us, they they don't they don't need to come anymore because you guys follow us, you know that we never quit, and we came back from much more so similar situation, so if they ask me, they're not welcome anymore.
- 13:53SPEAKER_11: So glad that you mentioned that.
- 13:54SPEAKER_14: You know, and again, there we go.
- 13:56SPEAKER_14: You know.
- 13:57SPEAKER_14: And I get where he's upset.
- 13:59SPEAKER_14: I I I think he, you know, in his mind and and the way he thinks it, that's disrespectful.
- 14:06SPEAKER_14: But have they talked about on on 104 the fan, you know, in the the Broncos country, uh we we as Bronco fans will boo the Broncos when they're not playing well.
- 14:16SPEAKER_14: And they know it, and and it kind of motivates them to start playing better and and and doing things better.
- 14:23SPEAKER_14: You know, the the you know, the the avalanche fans will boo them when they're not playing well, and you know, the Aves take that to heart and they start playing better, and it kind of fires them up.
- 14:33SPEAKER_14: So I I think, you know, was that the wrong thing for Nikola Jokic to say?
- 14:38SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 14:39SPEAKER_14: But then again, you know, in a way, no, not not necessarily, but I get where, you know, where you where he's upset, and I get it.
- 14:48SPEAKER_14: But when you you know it's your first home game and you're getting blown out and you have to come back to win, yeah, the it's you know, things are gonna you know things are gonna you know things are gonna be said and you know you know and and you know it's it's gonna happen, and I get I get where you're not you know, you're you're not happy.
- 15:14SPEAKER_14: And I get it.
- 15:15SPEAKER_14: But but when you go on the road and you haven't won, and you play one of the wor you go to the Golden State Warriors and you play one of the worst teams in the NBA so far this season, and you get blown out by twenty points, yeah, the the fans are gonna boo you and and they're gonna do things and they're gonna have things to say, especially being eliminated the way you were in the first round.
- 15:34SPEAKER_14: Humiliating by the Minnesota Timberwolves, you know, in last year's playoffs.
- 15:39SPEAKER_14: You know, the Nuggets are so up and down, up and down, up and down, and and it seems that they, you know, depending on who they're playing, they're gonna play good they play good h you know basketball, and then they don't, and it's just it's scary.
- 15:53SPEAKER_14: So a quick recap of uh last night's Nuggets victory in New Orleans.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: The Denver Nuggets got their first road win of the season and took down the New Orleans Pelicans.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: 104-91.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Denver got off to a hot start and built a lead that swelled to as many as 22 points in the first half.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: New Orleans battled back in the second half, getting the deficit down to just five points in the fourth quarter.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: But some clutch three-pointers from Christian Braun secured the victory for the Nuggets.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: However, the story of the game was Nikola Jokic, who recorded his 200th career triple-double with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Only Russell Westbrook is ahead of Jokic on the triple-double leaderboard with 209.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: Aaron Gordon notched his first double-double of the season with 15 points, and 11 rebounds.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Jamal Murray turned in another strong outing with 23 points on five of 11 from three-point range and 11 assists.
- 16:51SPEAKER_14: Okay, so, you know, another triple-double by by the by Jokic, by the Joker.
- 16:57SPEAKER_14: You know, obviously he he, you know, still proving that he is one of the best, most elite centers and all-time greatest basketball players in the NBA history.
- 17:07SPEAKER_14: And, you know, tomorrow night they play the first game of the Gold Cup against the Phoenix Suns.
- 17:19SPEAKER_14: This is something that I find just dumb.
- 17:21SPEAKER_14: I I don't understand why you're so obsessed in the NBA with, oh, we got to get better viewerships.
- 17:28SPEAKER_14: So we're gonna we're gonna make a a a tournament champion in the middle of the season and then still have our our first uh you know, and then still have our NBA championship at the end of the year.
- 17:38SPEAKER_14: You know, with the with the with the New York Knicks winning the Gold Cup and the NBA championship in the same year, we we I kind of figured that would be, you know, happen.
- 17:48SPEAKER_14: But I figured, okay, it's gonna happen in one of these old story franchises.
- 17:52SPEAKER_14: You know, maybe the Bulls, maybe, you know, New York, some of these older teams that have done things in in bigger markets.
- 17:58SPEAKER_14: And, you know, the Nuggets are are are two and two.
- 18:02SPEAKER_14: And, you know, yeah, it's early teams have played way more games than M, but it's just it's it's something I don't understand why we gotta have this this tournament in in the middle of the season.
- 18:15SPEAKER_14: I I think it's stupid, but that that's me.
- 18:20SPEAKER_14: You know, and the Broncos, you know, they play, you know, Sunday against the Chiefs and then and then in a big divisional game.
- 18:26SPEAKER_14: This is really gonna be, you know, a rematch of week one when the Broncos just defensively played horribly and you know couldn't tackle and just just got blown out.
- 18:41SPEAKER_14: You know, in Arrowhead.
- 18:42SPEAKER_14: And and you know, Mahomes being his first game back, he played like he never missed it and never missed a game, and and now you really gotta play well and and and get there and be be ready to go.
- 18:57SPEAKER_04: And hopefully that uh you know, you you can you know it's you know, hopefully you can beat 'em and and beat you know, beat the Chiefs because out here in Colorado, nobody likes the Chiefs.
- 19:16SPEAKER_14: I mean there's a few Chiefs fans here and there, but you know, quick press conference on, you know, Bonex ahead of week eight against the Chiefs and a divisional rival.
- 19:28SPEAKER_08: Well, listening to Cortland approach me, it sounds like the messaging is laser focused and not making this bigger than it was.
- 19:35SPEAKER_08: But you're three years, what have you learned about this vibe rival with the chief and what it means to the fans?
- 19:40SPEAKER_08: And how do you guys not kind of fall into that series?
- 19:44SPEAKER_13: Well, I think point blank is just it's important to our team.
- 19:47SPEAKER_13: It's important to us as players.
- 19:48SPEAKER_13: They've been a really good team for for a long stretch and they continue to win games, and you know, we feel like in order to compete not only on our side of the AFC, but just in our division, you have to compete a team like this consistently, and it's very challenging because they're such a a good football team all the way around.
- 20:07SPEAKER_13: It starts with coaches and then their players and their scheme, they do a great job and they just know how to win.
- 20:12SPEAKER_13: They build a great culture of winning.
- 20:13SPEAKER_13: But you know, for us it's just it's about the next game mentality and we know it's a big one.
- 20:18SPEAKER_13: That goes without being being said.
- 20:20SPEAKER_13: But after falling to them already this year, this one is important to us, and you know, I'm I expect a good game.
- 20:26SPEAKER_06: Well, you're part of some of the biggest college rivalries of you know in the sport.
- 20:31SPEAKER_13: Where do you come down on the notion of NFL rivalries compared to what you know our well they're different in in a sense of you know, the divisions are are unique things because there's four teams and obviously in college there's a lot more teams in in your division.
- 20:48SPEAKER_13: But the NFL rivalries are historical.
- 20:50SPEAKER_13: They're they're really cool and they have a lot of you know, just great tradition, I'd say.
- 20:54SPEAKER_13: And you know, college and and the pros, they're just different in general, and it's hard to compare the two, but you can tell a a rivalry, you can tell a big matchup when you see it.
- 21:03SPEAKER_13: And really it's you know, all the teams in our divisions, you you would uh associate them with being our rivals just because of the head-to-head competitive games we've had over the over the years, and historical franchises have historical rivalries.
- 21:16SPEAKER_13: So this is just a a really good fun environment game.
- 21:20SPEAKER_13: It's uh two teams going at it that have been doing it for a long time, and it'll be another one on on Sunday.
- 21:25SPEAKER_07: Oh, you watched the watch the play soon you make a fun.
- 21:30SPEAKER_07: If so, it should take them to watch.
- 21:35SPEAKER_13: Yeah, watched it several times, watched it after immediately, and then watch it again this week to f to prepare, and you know, it definitely doesn't leave me excited, you know, with how that game ended and a lot of things that we can focus on and correct.
- 21:47SPEAKER_13: Um but what I've learned over the past is you can't play the same game twice.
- 21:51SPEAKER_13: That's gonna be a completely game that complete a completely different game than what Sunday's game's gonna be, and you've got to play it as such until you have to show up with a different mentality and just.
- 22:00SPEAKER_13: Just compete and just do what you can to, you know, have a different outcome than last time.
- 22:04SPEAKER_10: Well, you had talked last week about being on the search for trunk plates for explosives.
- 22:07SPEAKER_10: So to come out and hit one on the first play, kind of in the moment tone, you kind of feel like that's sad on us.
- 22:13SPEAKER_13: That was important.
- 22:14SPEAKER_13: That uh sort of took a lid off of us a little bit.
- 22:17SPEAKER_13: Just literally proves that you know it it can be done, it's it's done.
- 22:20SPEAKER_13: Now let's try to go make another one.
- 22:22SPEAKER_13: And you know, explosive plays start, in my opinion, with explosive players.
- 22:27SPEAKER_13: And if you get your guys the football, if you get them the bond space, if you know what you're doing, and you execute the play that's called, then you're gonna you're gonna turn these plays into explosives.
- 22:35SPEAKER_13: And for us, you know, that's always an offense's, you know, in my opinion, job is to create explosives, and you know, that's how you win games, that's how you score a lot of points.
- 22:45SPEAKER_13: And so these explosive plays, you know, hopefully they continue and they're gonna just help us along the way.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: Well, Michael Michael, that last week you said you need to it felt like you need to play better after the game against the Cardinals.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Do you feel like like you're that and you did that, or still have things?
- 22:58SPEAKER_13: Uh I've I'll never play a game where I'll tell you I played played good or didn't, you know, have a need to change.
- 23:03SPEAKER_13: So for me, it all you know all goes back to what can I watch, what can I take from?
- 23:08SPEAKER_13: How can I be different?
- 23:09SPEAKER_13: How can I change?
- 23:10SPEAKER_13: I never want to do the same thing twice, expecting the same results.
- 23:13SPEAKER_13: I always feel like there's something I can improve upon.
- 23:15SPEAKER_13: And so yeah, we we played better, we had better stats, but I mean, realistically, you can look at things and you can pull, you know, every game you can pull things that that didn't go your way.
- 23:24SPEAKER_13: And I think sometimes we get so lost in the the stats or the outcome of the game.
- 23:28SPEAKER_13: Sometimes you can overlook the important things that you need to fix.
- 23:31SPEAKER_13: And these wins that you're you're winning may turn into losses because you didn't fix them over time.
- 23:35SPEAKER_13: So for me, it's all about getting better, and that's just, in my opinion, the the right way to be a professional.
- 23:40SPEAKER_13: You know, you never want to be the same, you never want to stay the same because to maximize my opportunity and my talents, I don't have a choice but to, you know, get better.
- 23:48SPEAKER_13: I can't stay the same.
- 23:50SPEAKER_15: Or for Sean Payton said after the game about your 62-year run.
- 23:54SPEAKER_15: Well, I think it answers the question about whether you can still run.
- 23:56SPEAKER_15: I know you've said that you're fully healthy and all that, but what does that kind of send out to people, you know, the way you you were fast and the way you scored on that play?
- 24:06SPEAKER_13: I mean, quite frankly, I don't really care what it sends out to people.
- 24:09SPEAKER_13: I'm just gonna continue to play my game and run when it's there, throw when it's there, and uh put up points.
- 24:14SPEAKER_15: What'd you think when you saw the highlights of the play afterwards, I guess?
- 24:17SPEAKER_13: Well, I it was very open.
- 24:18SPEAKER_13: You know, I didn't realize how open it was at the time.
- 24:21SPEAKER_13: When you're in that moment, you kind of feel like you're about to get killed in many different directions.
- 24:25SPEAKER_13: But when you watch it, you know, on TV, there's just a lot of space and and a lot of room to run.
- 24:29SPEAKER_13: So, you know, a great job by our guys of allowing the play to develop, and then, you know, it just all goes back to strength and conditioning.
- 24:36SPEAKER_13: Well, you can model leadership.
- 24:40SPEAKER_10: So, what sticks out to you about Alex and the way that he goes about this?
- 24:44SPEAKER_13: I think Alex does a great job of he plays with such a relentless intensity and relentless effort.
- 24:51SPEAKER_13: He kind of he models the way in which our defense as a whole plays, and I feel like sometimes leadership is just action and it's just by how you play.
- 25:00SPEAKER_13: And you can just tell by the way that while by the way he plays, he's passionate, he's intense, he's competitive, he's tough as nails, and you know, just goes out there and continues to outperform.
- 25:11SPEAKER_13: And he made a lot of tackles on on Sunday.
- 25:14SPEAKER_13: It was actually really selfish of him to have all those tackles, didn't let anybody else get any tackles, but it's just it's it's a it's impressive to see him continuously, you know, overcome the things that he's overcome in the last couple years and still put a great product on the field.
- 25:28SPEAKER_13: And to me, it just starts with his intensity and his passion and his competitive spirit out there, and it just kind of you know, it bleeds throughout the team.
- 25:36SPEAKER_20: Last one, Eric, you said last week, we won't be punking in December, January, February.
- 25:41SPEAKER_20: Curious after scoring character you have in the plays he did and also how much more room do you feel like you personally still have to grow as the season continues?
- 25:49SPEAKER_13: Well, we we a penalty cost us seven on the first drive.
- 25:52SPEAKER_13: We probably could have scored another couple touchdowns there in the six minute, the four minute at the end of the game.
- 25:56SPEAKER_13: So I I would say, you know, there's still a lot out there.
- 26:00SPEAKER_13: And I don't want to discredit the game by saying we, you know, we could have scored all these other points.
- 26:05SPEAKER_13: I mean, we still have to go out there and do it.
- 26:07SPEAKER_13: But I do think there's a lot of room for growth, a lot of room for improvement, and that's why it's exciting.
- 26:12SPEAKER_13: We're sitting here at at five and two and we've played a really tough schedule, and we're talking about all the ways that we can improve.
- 26:18SPEAKER_13: So I don't feel like we're, you know, we we're we're close, but I don't feel like we're really dominating or scratching the surface of what we can be, but we are doing what we're supposed to do to win games, which is the first and foremost, most important thing.
- 26:30SPEAKER_13: But I do think we're leaving some things out there with penalties and third downs and you know, some other things.
- 26:35SPEAKER_13: But, you know, it starts with me.
- 26:37SPEAKER_13: We're gonna correct it, we're gonna get the job done, and you know, at the end of the day, we're not we're not satisfied.
- 26:43SPEAKER_13: And and I think that's the most important thing.
- 26:45SPEAKER_13: And you can tell by the way we practice and you know how we're working and how we're preparing is is we're not satisfied, and I don't feel like anybody on the team is coaches down.
- 26:55SPEAKER_13: That's where you want to be at at this point in the season.
- 26:58SPEAKER_14: You know, and you can hear where he understands that the first game against Kansas City is over.
- 27:03SPEAKER_14: You know, there's nothing they can do about it this week is is gonna be a whole different thing, because you know, as we all know in the NFL week to week, everything is is different.
- 27:11SPEAKER_14: But you can tell where he doesn't listen to the national media and where he is and oh he had one good game and blah, blah, blah.
- 27:20SPEAKER_14: But he he's focused and ready to go.
- 27:22SPEAKER_14: He knows that you know they should have scored more points against you know the the Cardinals.
- 27:30SPEAKER_14: And you know, the the first drive, there's seven points right there that you you left on the field because of a of a penalty.
- 27:38SPEAKER_14: And and he knows it, and he wasn't happy with that drive.
- 27:41SPEAKER_14: And so quick one here on uh Sean Payton in the home field and what he thinks is significant in this week eight matchup between the Broncos and the Chiefs.
- 27:56SPEAKER_19: Pretty normal Wednesday relative to schedule.
- 27:59SPEAKER_19: Any questions?
- 28:00SPEAKER_07: Sean, how much uh just do how to say it's two fairly quick games against the Chiefs for Sapseason?
- 28:05SPEAKER_07: What have you seen from them and from Hobbes in particular since well I I think the the one big change from the last couple of years is is their ability and commitment to run on the football the way they're doing they're doing you know, obviously the addition of a runner, but yeah, that that's the you know, that's the one thing that you see.
- 28:30SPEAKER_19: Obviously, it's a divisional team, but there hadn't been really any coaching changes, so you you have ample film.
- 28:42SPEAKER_19: It does feel like it's been a while, although I know relative to a season, it it hasn't.
- 28:48SPEAKER_06: Sharon, and as I said, it's like copy yeah, you've had the players to copy some of them like work with, but their defense really obviously shut them down, and you have a really good defense, so what can you borrow for sea?
- 28:58SPEAKER_19: You you're always I would say this, and I think when you look at crossover film, you're always like, all right, who attacked him best, who defended him, yeah.
- 29:08SPEAKER_19: Like you're you're more attentive to that those those games.
- 29:14SPEAKER_19: And so obviously it's a it's a a real good defense.
- 29:18SPEAKER_19: I'm talking about Seattle, so there's certain things that that carry over maybe structurally, and then other things maybe that don't relative to this game.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Coach Alex is in the defensive player of the week this week.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: How important is he been to this defense?
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: What level is he playing at?
- 29:34SPEAKER_19: He's playing well.
- 29:34SPEAKER_19: He had a ton of production last week.
- 29:36SPEAKER_19: It was the first time since 2017 where he had two weeks at Calgary as the defensive player of the week.
- 29:44SPEAKER_19: A little trivia there.
- 29:46SPEAKER_19: We had a picture for him.
- 29:49SPEAKER_19: But no, he listened he he's he's playing well with good instincts and you know had some big plays last week in in the run game.
- 29:58SPEAKER_05: Tackling was an issue of last time he detected the Chiefs.
- 30:01SPEAKER_05: Was that a lot to do with the Kenneth Walker, or is it something that really argued?
- 30:06SPEAKER_19: Oh, I think I probably said it after the game there were there were a lot of things that we didn't do well week one that hopefully, you know, in in the second time around, we can be better in a number of areas.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: Recognizing it's a matchup.
- 30:27SPEAKER_03: We Morvin had some big plays last week to go to the return game offensively.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: He's done that erotically.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: Is that a function this year is health improving, or is it just a game plan?
- 30:37SPEAKER_18: I I think to his credit, whenever we ask something of him, whether it's intermediate, down the field, you know, he's he's been really effective.
- 30:56SPEAKER_19: And and obviously when as a returner, that first return, you know, with the ball, midfield, you know, those are it's it's I've said this before, the receiving now to start the game, you know, minimum there's a threshold, but to start where we started, those are those are things that he's shown us consistently.
- 31:20SPEAKER_19: And, you know, he continues to have those touches, and then where you want to even get him more touches, that's sometimes a challenge, but uh certainly he's he's deserving.
- 31:31SPEAKER_14: You know, you can see there, this is a fairly long interview or uh press conference, so I won't play the whole thing.
- 31:37SPEAKER_14: But uh, you know, just he he he knows where they need to go, and he knows week one is over and that this is gonna be a different team.
- 31:43SPEAKER_14: And you know, they watch the game film that Seattle was able to beat the Chiefs, and they're gonna take what they did defensively and add it to their stuff and figure it out how to keep homes and everyone in check.
- 31:56SPEAKER_14: But we'll see.
- 31:58SPEAKER_14: Let's hope the Broncos can win on Sunday, the Buffaloes can win Saturday, the Nuggets and Avalanche can continue to their win.
- 32:05SPEAKER_14: But thank you for listening to T Bow Sports OneFan All Game Podcast 22.
- 32:15SPEAKER_14: And oh, as always, Go Buffs, Roll Tide, Go Broncos, Go Nuggets.
- 32:25SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, one more quick little thing.
- 32:28SPEAKER_14: UFL or UFL is in Colorado.

- 32:38SPEAKER_14: And when their season starts in April.
- 32:41SPEAKER_14: I wish they do some podcasts on that, but uh new sports team in Denver.
- 32:46SPEAKER_14: And Colored Springs.
