- 0:07active mind. Coming up Hey guys, welcome back

- 0:35I wanted to make this video for a long time and I was like,
- 0:38trying to figure out the best things to put together to make
- 0:40this video. And yeah, it's really, really
- 0:42cool. These are five ways you can calm
- 0:44your brain without actually having to do anything like
- 0:47crazy. Complex.
- 0:48And it's highly effective and I've never really seen anyone
- 0:50speak about it before, so it's really cool.
- 0:52I'm giving this information to you guys because I love you okay
- 0:54guys. Let me know in a comment section
- 0:55down below. If you are on the autism
- 0:57spectrum, or if you're looking for somebody else like you're a
- 0:59carer or a parent or a mother or whatever, pop it in a comment
- 1:02down below. I read and respond to every
- 1:03single comment so it's never wasted.
- 1:05I'd love to have some conversations.
- 1:07Do it now. Okay.
- 1:08So Aspergers and relaxation. Why would relaxation be an issue
- 1:11for people only Aspergers, kind of autism spectrum because their
- 1:16brains are going 1000 miles an hour.
- 1:18I don't know if you guys have noticed, but I talk really,
- 1:20really fast. Okay be I have ADHD as well, but
- 1:23my brain is always going. It's like I'm always constantly
- 1:26thinking about stuff. I want to move forward and move
- 1:28fast. I've got ideas coming up
- 1:29everywhere and I've got, like, everything I could possibly
- 1:31think of just oozing out my brain at any one time.
- 1:34And it's good. It's great.
- 1:35It helps me, like, make videos. It helps me, you know, create
- 1:37content. It helps me make music, helps me
- 1:40study and learn things, and I love that.
- 1:42But also, there are times when you become so involved with your
- 1:47brain that you almost burn out. You kind of, like, have like a
- 1:50shortcut, like your brain. Just like, you know, misfires.
- 1:53It could cause burnout shut, down meltdowns, stuff that we
- 1:56don't want, even panic attacks and anxiety attacks and ain't
- 1:59good. So I was sitting here thinking
- 2:01what could I do to help, you know, with my, my brain and and
- 2:05and how do I calm my brain down? So I've got like the five most
- 2:09compelling ones, which I found really help the brain, but in a
- 2:13way where it's it's accommodating of Asperger
- 2:15syndrome, you know, autism as a whole.
- 2:18So what are they, you ask? Oh, I'm glad you have asked that
- 2:20question. Let's go on to these hacks.
- 2:24So how can I go on guys is puzzles and doing puzzles.
- 2:27And what I mean by that, it could be anything from a jigsaw
- 2:29puzzle to kind of like a mind puzzle.
- 2:31You know, one of the ones that you get like they're like wooden
- 2:33and you kind of like have to slam together all those things
- 2:36and why this is effective because when you are engaging in
- 2:40a puzzle exercise which is non digital, when you are like doing
- 2:43a crossword or you're doing a puzzle like a wooden puzzle or
- 2:48you're doing like a jigsaw puzzle, your brain is engaging
- 2:52with a task that causes a problem, solution versus
- 2:54scenario, which occupies the kind of hyperactivity and the
- 2:57longing for problem solving that the autism brain kind of thirst
- 3:00for. But it also is giving you time
- 3:02to relax because there is a sense of calmness doing it
- 3:05because there's no electronic device shining or flickering in
- 3:08your face. Right.
- 3:09And that is super, super interesting because electronic
- 3:11devices flicker and they have a glow.
- 3:15Now the glow from electronic devices is like blue and white,
- 3:17which actually suppress melatonin, which actually makes
- 3:21you more awake and less sleepy, which means that you're less
- 3:25relaxed and you're more hyperactive.
- 3:27Now you need 20 minutes away from screens to kind of like
- 3:30devolve from that screen time and relax from that cell doing a
- 3:34puzzle, a wooden puzzle or like a crossword or a word search.
- 3:38Super dope. Because it's still engaging your
- 3:40brain. You still want to be active.
- 3:41You still want to be kind of thinking about things you always
- 3:43problem solve. Like look, can I get like an
- 3:45Amen in the comments? Like if anyone knows what I'm
- 3:46talking about. I'm always problem solving.
- 3:48I see everything as a problem solving thing.
- 3:50I love doing math problems for fun.
- 3:52You guys know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 3:53Hit that thumbs up button. If you know exactly what I'm
- 3:55talking about, you know it. You know this is what you all
- 3:57like and you'll know exactly what I mean.
- 3:59But that kind of thing still needs to go on.
- 4:02But you also need to relax, you know, it's quite a difficult
- 4:04thing to do because a lot of people think, well, if I'm just
- 4:06doing stuff creative all the time, then I'm always feeding
- 4:09that brain that wants to problem solve.
- 4:11But then you get no downtime. So that's why it's important
- 4:14okay. So #2 is reading, right?
- 4:17So I have dyslexia. Not only do I have dyslexia, I'm
- 4:21actually a best selling author in the United States and the
- 4:24United Kingdom. I have a book out, a published
- 4:26book out. So I didn't sell published A
- 4:27published book out in 3 languages as well.
- 4:29And you think, well how does that happen?
- 4:31It is pretty crazy and there's a long winded explanation for
- 4:34that. So if you'd like to know about
- 4:35that, let me know. And I could always do a video on
- 4:36how I managed to do that, but it's being dyslexic.
- 4:39But in terms of reading books, it takes me a while to read
- 4:42books. But when you're reading a book,
- 4:44you're still digesting, You're still learning, You're still
- 4:46attaining information, but without that constant screen
- 4:50flicker and chatter from that blue screen, that's going to
- 4:52keep you awake. So you could literally, you
- 4:54know, go to bed and read a book and it could help you with
- 4:57winding down to then actually sleep, which I find just
- 5:01absolutely fascinating. Again, for the same reasons as
- 5:03the puzzle, A book is a, you know, you want to use an
- 5:07analogue version, not like a Kindle, you know?
- 5:09Come on, guys, you got to work with me here.
- 5:10Don't use a Kindle. Don't cheat.
- 5:11I see you cheating. I see you picking up your
- 5:14Kindle, saying I have a Kindle every single night.
- 5:15I got the Kindle off on my iPhone.
- 5:17That's what I do. I'm not on about that.
- 5:18OK, reading also expands the mind.
- 5:21Think about it. There was one thing that Will
- 5:22Smith said for successful people.
- 5:24Will Smith is obviously one of the most successful actors ever.
- 5:27Then he said there's two things that actually make success
- 5:30happen. One of them is running and the
- 5:32other is reading. So there you go.
- 5:35See. Not just me, Will Smith also
- 5:36says read. So get a book.
- 5:38Why not my book? You don't have to get my book.
- 5:40Anyway, if you really want to know what my book is, I think
- 5:43there's a Lincoln description, but there isn't.
- 5:44Leave me a comment and I'll send you a link to the book.
- 5:46OK, so hack #3 watch educational and documentary type of TV.
- 5:54Now, I know this kind of goes against the whole thing of
- 5:55watching screens, but what I mean for this is that maybe
- 5:58you're not wanting to come and relax.
- 6:00Maybe you're not wanting to go to bed straight afterwards.
- 6:02All you want to do is sit down and chill, but you still want to
- 6:06be actively engaged. Because I know I have this issue
- 6:08where if I sit down and chill and I'm not engaging my brain
- 6:10with anything, I start to worry because I feel like I'm wasting
- 6:13my time. I'm wasting my life because I
- 6:15could be doing something that's giving me something.
- 6:17Like I could be learning something like, you know, when
- 6:19my computer reboots, I Start learning another language or
- 6:21something, You know, like that kind of thing.
- 6:22That's like my mindset. So I'm thinking, how do I relax?
- 6:25How do I do it? Very simple.
- 6:26I sit down on a watch. Stuff that I can learn from all
- 6:30in a row. So I sit down and I put on a
- 6:32documentary or an educational series and I watch that and it
- 6:35helps me relax. I just lay down.
- 6:36I'm just watching this stuff. So I'm learning, but I'm very
- 6:38relaxed at the same time. So get yourself comfy.
- 6:41Get a really good documentary, really good educational series,
- 6:44put it on. Make yourself some tea.
- 6:47You got it. OK, so #4 this is hack #4 and I
- 6:50love this and I do this every single day and I also run as
- 6:53well, like we were talking really about running.
- 6:54I do run two to four times a week, but in terms of every
- 6:58single day I go out for a walk. So hack #4 is take a walk.
- 7:03Walking is excellent because it helps reset your mind.
- 7:07There's this thing in Buddhism, and I've used breathing
- 7:09techniques before when I was talking about anxiety and
- 7:10different anxiety videos and I'll try and link it up here or
- 7:12in the description below so you can check out the anxiety
- 7:14videos. But one of the things I do is
- 7:16the hacking of breathing. So you breathe in for five
- 7:19seconds, you hold it for five seconds, and you breathe out for
- 7:21five seconds. What this does is it pumps good
- 7:24deep breath, oxygen all around your body and instantly calms
- 7:26you. I mean, look, check this out
- 7:27right now. Pause this video, Breathe in and
- 7:30hold your breath for five seconds and then breathe out.
- 7:32Right. I bet you'll feel more calm than
- 7:34you did before doing that. Okay.
- 7:35Pause it and then come back. Okay.
- 7:37So let me know. Did it work?
- 7:40Leave me a comment. You have to like this video.
- 7:43If that worked for you, you have to go for your thumbs up because
- 7:46come on, I'm just helping you guys out here.
- 7:48Look at that like hacks within hacks.
- 7:50So taking a walk outside does that.
- 7:52It gives you like aerobic respiration, like you're you're
- 7:55going outside and you're you're experiencing fresh air.
- 7:59You're walking, your body's working, your heart pumping,
- 8:01lungs are pumping a bit more, more auction, go around.
- 8:03Your body helps relax and calm you.
- 8:05And This is why I do it every single day, because it resets
- 8:07the brain, helps you calm, and there's something kind of like
- 8:11when you're outside, there's always something new to see and
- 8:14that's how you learn. When you're outside, there's
- 8:16always something new going on and you'll think about new
- 8:18things whilst you're walking. OK That brings me to hack #5.
- 8:22This is super awesome. I'm not very successful at the
- 8:26end product of this hack, but doing the hack is very, very
- 8:28good. So this one is cooking or trying
- 8:31something new, cooking with a new recipe.
- 8:33So what I mean by this is I'm terrible to follow instructions.
- 8:36So what I do is I put on a YouTube video and then they'd
- 8:38say, hey, get the, you know, I don't know, the sugar and the
- 8:41butter and the flour and do this cookie mix and then we do it.
- 8:44I do this with Naomi because Naomi, my girlfriend, my
- 8:47partner, she is like a Baker and a better Baker than I will ever
- 8:51be because I'm terrible at it, because my executive function
- 8:54issues, et cetera, et cetera. I don't just boil you down with
- 8:57the stuff you already know about autism.
- 8:58But she kind of like says, OK, we're going to try this and we
- 9:01try stuff out and we just like make cakes or pancakes and fold
- 9:03recipes the best we can. It's usually just neon, We doing
- 9:05it and me helping kind of with the measurements and stuff and
- 9:08doing the math, which I really, really enjoy.
- 9:10But that in itself is a way of relaxing because you're not just
- 9:15focusing on on something that is digital screen and and it's
- 9:18demanding of your creativity. You're following somebody else's
- 9:21creative path. You are recreating their
- 9:24creation which gives you passive time but it also gives you
- 9:26learning because you're learning but you've never done it before.
- 9:29That's the whole idea of picking something new to start from
- 9:31scratch. Very effective.
- 9:33I enjoy it. You should definitely try it
- 9:35too. Anyway guys, that's all of my
- 9:37hacks for this video. I hope you enjoyed them.
- 9:39Please check out my other videos around me and I'll see you next
- 9:41time guys.
