- 1:02Speaker 2: Colin Ward, as always, no reach domating this week. We
- 1:05Speaker 2: had a scheduling conflict in the room. I could not
- 1:07Speaker 2: do mornings, he could not do nights. I had to
- 1:10Speaker 2: do it at night. So we're doing the podcast that
- 1:13Speaker 2: night on a Monday night, and we got some breaking
- 1:14Speaker 2: news for a Monday night, we'll see a lot of
- 1:17Speaker 2: big topics. But first off, thank you BC. As always,
- 1:19Speaker 2: who's in the clouds, but he's got his mic on.

- 1:48Speaker 2: As our Friday night Faceauce Brandon have been incredible for you.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I got it. I really got a treat because obviously
- 1:55Speaker 2: with the Bulldogs, it was finally a Friday night road
- 1:58Speaker 2: game where I actually had a chance to listen and
- 2:02Speaker 2: completely through the first minute, through the sometimes sixty second
- 2:06Speaker 2: minute as you go extra time and break it down,
- 2:10Speaker 2: break down all the games in the OHL that night,
- 2:11Speaker 2: so it's a pleasure to listen. I thought that was
- 2:13Speaker 2: really cool to be able to listen finally on Friday evening.
- 2:16Speaker 2: You can find that out on X every Friday night.
- 2:18Speaker 2: There's one more Friday Night faceoff game left, which is incredible.
- 2:23Speaker 2: How fast this seasons went. We talked about it last week,
- 2:26Speaker 2: how the season. The season felt like it went faster
- 2:30Speaker 2: this year than a normal sixty minute in a normal
- 2:33Speaker 2: sixty eight game season. It felt like this It was
- 2:37Speaker 2: like Christmas break a week ago, and it just keeps going.
- 2:40Speaker 2: But it's a jam packed show today BC has always
- 2:43Speaker 2: thanks to the graphics and everything producing the show. You
- 2:46Speaker 2: do God's work. We could say. Throughout the week. OHL
- 2:49Speaker 2: headlines as always, will start off the show with a
- 2:52Speaker 2: lot of headlines are record breaking for those birds. We're
- 2:56Speaker 2: not talking Philly, We're talking Flint suspension. What is a
- 3:01Speaker 2: Quinnboshane London twelfth Day? A little fun in the workplace,
- 3:04Speaker 2: It's not baseball. But what is suspension?
- 3:06Speaker 3: Is it for of for.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Years at eight games or is it less than eight games.
- 3:09Speaker 2: We'll touch on that in a few moments. Saganaw Sarnia
- 3:13Speaker 2: postgame comments. Things got a little spicy there at the
- 3:16Speaker 2: local UH Sarnier Arena. Fun when they're at Progressive Auto sales.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It sounds like on Sunday that box score. I remember
- 3:23Speaker 2: going over to the box score thinking, oh my, what
- 3:26Speaker 2: just happened in there to be a referee? It could
- 3:29Speaker 2: have been a for most fans they're blaming the referees
- 3:31Speaker 2: this year. It could have been the referee fault and
- 3:33Speaker 2: then it finally happened. The global ambassador of the OHL
- 3:38Speaker 2: and sixty podcasts the reason why one of the reasons
- 3:42Speaker 2: why I started for Bulldog fans rough thoughts because of
- 3:46Speaker 2: Brownie's points. Josh Brown from the Waterloo Region Record joins
- 3:49Speaker 2: us he's covered the Rangers for a long time. Everything
- 3:52Speaker 2: you need to know Kitchener Rangers, Josh Brown has it
- 3:55Speaker 2: so our town. We're gonna learn a lot today about
- 3:57Speaker 2: the Kitchener Rangers and see where they rank coming in
- 3:59Speaker 2: the last week of the season, because they got a
- 4:01Speaker 2: lot to play for this week we'll touch on that
- 4:03Speaker 2: with Josh Players of the week, a big one in Ottawa, Branford.
- 4:08Speaker 2: There's some big ones there and as always the Power rankings.
- 4:11Speaker 2: No Draft Lottery simulator this week, but as always next
- 4:14Speaker 2: week bi weekly. Next week we have the biggest simulator
- 4:18Speaker 2: before the actual simulator that matters the last time this season,
- 4:23Speaker 2: so that could be a blast. But jam pack show
- 4:25Speaker 2: this week as always, Brandon, great job in the graphics,
- 4:28Speaker 2: and let's get to it with the headline because there's
- 4:30Speaker 2: a lot of headlines to cover today, and we'll start
- 4:33Speaker 2: with the Flint Firebirds most wins in a season in
- 4:36Speaker 2: Nathan Asminal. His ninety three points is his assist record.
- 4:41Speaker 2: He breaks the single season assist record for the Flint Firebirds.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Incredible accomplishment for Nathan Asmiral, the captain and oh him
- 4:50Speaker 2: and a kid Klapoff that Michigan battle a lot, a
- 4:53Speaker 2: lot to play for in the down the stretch here
- 4:56Speaker 2: and you look at the assists this season for him,
- 4:58Speaker 2: fifty eight assists on the ninety points in thirty two games.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Clip off at ninety two. I don't think we're gonna
- 5:04Speaker 2: get a hundred point guy, that's a question. I cannot
- 5:06Speaker 2: wait to ask Josh Brown, do we get it? I
- 5:09Speaker 2: don't think we do. You're looking at three games for
- 5:12Speaker 2: ten points, eight points. That's a huge, huge stretch. That's
- 5:16Speaker 2: tough to do. The Flint Firebirds as well, break the
- 5:19Speaker 2: most wins they've had in a season. So congrats to
- 5:23Speaker 2: the Flint Firebirds. I know the birds, Brandon. You talked
- 5:26Speaker 2: about it on Friday night. It's nice to see the
- 5:29Speaker 2: Birds get and we talked about the draft or at
- 5:31Speaker 2: the trade deadline show as well, and it's nice to
- 5:34Speaker 2: see the Birds finally get their dues. During COVID they
- 5:38Speaker 2: had it, they had it. It looked like we were
- 5:40Speaker 2: destined to see that series between them and the Saganaw
- 5:43Speaker 2: Spirit and renew that rivalry in the postseason, but that
- 5:46Speaker 2: obviously did not happen. And now all of a sudden,
- 5:49Speaker 2: the Flint Firebirds get their moment in Michigan, and oh baby,
- 5:53Speaker 2: there's no more. College hockey's ending, College football's over, Football's over.
- 5:58Speaker 2: It's their time to shine in the sun. And you
- 6:01Speaker 2: gotta be pumped for the Flint Firebirds to get their moment.
- 6:03Speaker 2: They deserve it. You look where they are in the standings,
- 6:05Speaker 2: ninety three points, just behind the kitchen Er Rangers. Huge
- 6:09Speaker 2: game tonight at the odd Can't wait to ask Josh
- 6:12Speaker 2: Brown about that as well, because wow, you look at
- 6:16Speaker 2: that game. That'll do it, That could do it for
- 6:18Speaker 2: the Western Conference. The Western Conference is on the line
- 6:20Speaker 2: tonight in kitchen at the Auditorium. Exciting game. Ninety three points,
- 6:25Speaker 2: the single high, forty three wins in a season, the
- 6:29Speaker 2: single high for the Flint Firebirds. Congratulations in Flint. They
- 6:33Speaker 2: got their team playing hard. They're a treat to watch.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Anyone that wants to watch the Flint Firebirds play, watch
- 6:39Speaker 2: them play. They're fun to watch. Bronzon Ride. Next big topic,
- 6:43Speaker 2: and we'll touch on this a little bit more in
- 6:45Speaker 2: depth because this is a signing to me that is
- 6:48Speaker 2: very well deserved. And Brandon you can chime in on
- 6:50Speaker 2: this because you saw him in Niagar's. Bronzon Ride signs
- 6:54Speaker 2: his entry level contract with Tigas Golden Knights. Absolutely well deserving.
- 6:58Speaker 2: He's went to North Bay and it's just performed every
- 7:01Speaker 2: single role at the North Bay Battalion. Throw Bronson ride
- 7:03Speaker 2: and he performs, he performs, and I think that that's
- 7:06Speaker 2: one of the biggest things. How you get a contract nowadays,
- 7:09Speaker 2: there's a lot of options so to be able to
- 7:11Speaker 2: earn that contract because they're not throwing contracts around like
- 7:14Speaker 2: it's nothing now with the NC douablea eligibility out there
- 7:18Speaker 2: for Bronson Ryde to go out there and earn a contract,
- 7:21Speaker 2: incredible accomplishment out of Bronson Ride. Gotta be happy for
- 7:25Speaker 2: that one in Bronson Ride. Brand you have anything to
- 7:27Speaker 2: touch on that in the clouds BC with Bronson Redd,
- 7:30Speaker 2: I know you've worked with him closely.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, good on Ryan Ulahan for being able
- 7:35Speaker 4: to untap the potential of Bronson Ride, right like when
- 7:39Speaker 4: he was drafted by Windsor and acquired by Niagara, like
- 7:41Speaker 4: they had really high hopes for for Bronson Ride. Took
- 7:45Speaker 4: him a few years to maybe grow into that form
- 7:47Speaker 4: in that body, and it's still gonna gonna take some
- 7:49Speaker 4: time for him to fill out, you know, with the
- 7:52Speaker 4: being that big. But I think going to North Bay
- 7:55Speaker 4: was great for him. He's got an a now, he's
- 7:56Speaker 4: matured a lot on and off the ice, and it
- 7:59Speaker 4: seems like he's really taped taking a step forward, you know,
- 8:02Speaker 4: in his maturity as well on the ice. And Ryan
- 8:05Speaker 4: Oulahan obviously being able and Bill Holder and the coaching staff.
- 8:11Speaker 4: They're being able to really round out his game and
- 8:14Speaker 4: make him into a solid Ohler that eventually gets signed
- 8:17Speaker 4: to an NHL entry level contract. So I think Bronson Ride,
- 8:20Speaker 4: you know, figur t figuratively and literally, has grown a
- 8:23Speaker 4: lot over the last few years since he's gone to
- 8:26Speaker 4: the North Bay Battalion, and it shows here as they
- 8:28Speaker 4: they've developed another player that signs in the NHL deal.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Absolutely, and he's one of those guys that had to
- 8:33Speaker 2: play into his body right. He was always probably the
- 8:35Speaker 2: tallest kid coming up, and I remember playing against guys
- 8:38Speaker 2: like that. They're always the tallest guys and then the best,
- 8:40Speaker 2: but the game comes easy to them. All of a sudden,
- 8:41Speaker 2: they get to a level like the OHL and they
- 8:43Speaker 2: got to adjust, they got to expand on their game.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And Bronson Ride has done a really good job. He's
- 8:47Speaker 2: a textbook player. Some might call it a late bloomer,
- 8:50Speaker 2: but textbook of why we have all the years of
- 8:52Speaker 2: eligibility in the OHL, and that's why you use them
- 8:54Speaker 2: because you change so much, you grow so much in
- 8:56Speaker 2: your game. So congratulations to Bronson Rye. And he got
- 9:00Speaker 2: breaking news on a Monday at around six o'clock and
- 9:04Speaker 2: I just want to say this, thank you to the CHL,
- 9:07Speaker 2: the WHL and the London Nights on behalf of BC,
- 9:11Speaker 2: all of us here at the OHL and sixty podcasts,
- 9:12Speaker 2: aren't turjy in Sports Network? Follow on social media, subscribe
- 9:16Speaker 2: to the YouTube channel. Hey, it's free adnight BC. Go
- 9:18Speaker 2: get We'll get ready with the pizza. Talk too with
- 9:21Speaker 2: Josh Brown in a few moments. Victoria, London. Good are
- 9:25Speaker 2: gonna do battle on Labor Day. This Labor Day talking
- 9:28Speaker 2: about Labor Day already Clash of the Clash of the
- 9:31Speaker 2: Kingdom's great slogan in Victoria BC twenty twenty eight or
- 9:34Speaker 2: twenty twenty six, London, Victoria in Victoria on Labor Day,
- 9:39Speaker 2: They're gonna do battle there. It's a great first question,
- 9:41Speaker 2: ask Josh Brown right off the bat Guys Kitchener, gwelfh
- 9:45Speaker 2: Jeff Merrick had the post what do we know? What
- 9:47Speaker 2: do you got for its? Brownie. We can't wait to
- 9:49Speaker 2: hear that one as well, because exciting. We've talked about
- 9:53Speaker 2: this for years now on the OHL and sixty podcast.
- 9:55Speaker 2: For those who know who are the ogs as you
- 9:58Speaker 2: would say the og listeners to the podcast, we know
- 10:02Speaker 2: we've talked about this, that the potential of doing this
- 10:05Speaker 2: is incredible. Mark this down as an effect because I
- 10:09Speaker 2: think it's great to see new teams in the preseason.
- 10:11Speaker 2: But who's gonna host in Ontario? Who's gonna host in
- 10:14Speaker 2: the OHL? Is it gonna be Ottawa hosting Gatino preseason,
- 10:19Speaker 2: not regular season hopefully? Is it Sudbury again hosting Irana
- 10:24Speaker 2: Randa preseason? Hopefully not a regular season as always? But
- 10:29Speaker 2: what is it gonna be? Right? So, I think that's
- 10:31Speaker 2: very interesting to me to see who hosted the OHL
- 10:34Speaker 2: because obviously this is the first domino to fall, and
- 10:36Speaker 2: we're obviously gonna see a lot more come in, come
- 10:39Speaker 2: in here to the picture. I truly believe now this
- 10:42Speaker 2: legitimizes the situation with Gwelph in Kitchener going to play
- 10:46Speaker 2: MONKD in Halifax. I truly believe this is kind of
- 10:50Speaker 2: legit making it legit. So we'll see what happens. Who
- 10:54Speaker 2: hosted the OHL? That's what I care about. I want
- 10:56Speaker 2: to see a game in the OHL. I want to
- 10:58Speaker 2: see a team from the Q or the come to
- 11:00Speaker 2: our local areas where we can go out to arenas
- 11:03Speaker 2: and see them play. That would be kind of cool. Especially,
- 11:05Speaker 2: I mean you imagine I know it's not the case,
- 11:07Speaker 2: but could you imagine Medicine Hats still had Gavin McKenna
- 11:12Speaker 2: right and Gavi mchanna's coming to Ontario. That would be
- 11:15Speaker 2: the most full preseason game there would be, even at
- 11:17Speaker 2: the Canada Life Place in London. So to be interesting
- 11:20Speaker 2: to see who hosting the OHL. Who hosts one of
- 11:23Speaker 2: these games, hopefully it's just sitting near you and to
- 11:26Speaker 2: be able to get on the action. I think there'd
- 11:28Speaker 2: be a little bit more intrigue in that matchup. For
- 11:30Speaker 2: me personally, I think that'd be more intriguing of seeing
- 11:32Speaker 2: the Kitchener Rangers play the Gwell Storm in Kitchener at
- 11:35Speaker 2: the Odd one night or the Gwell Storm at the
- 11:37Speaker 2: next at the Sleeping Center. Right me, personally, I would
- 11:39Speaker 2: like to see a team coming to Ontario from another
- 11:41Speaker 2: league and kind of see these young guys. Right. Next topic,
- 11:45Speaker 2: OHL Hockey League announces their futures camp and I am
- 11:50Speaker 2: pumped for this. I got the message from Jordan Henry.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Shout out to Jordan Henry, great supporter of the show,
- 11:55Speaker 2: the Network, great supporter real beauty. I saw who was
- 11:58Speaker 2: at the players this weekend that look pretty cool. I
- 12:01Speaker 2: once played. I once had a shot at the Island Hole.
- 12:04Speaker 2: First shot, first shot, overshot at second shot right on
- 12:07Speaker 2: the green, just sailed it right up there. First shot
- 12:09Speaker 2: was adrenaline right and just run of the next t box.
- 12:13Speaker 2: But uh, nice to see them and get some players
- 12:15Speaker 2: action there. That look pretty cool. Great golf course there.
- 12:18Speaker 2: But the futures camp, and this is something that I
- 12:21Speaker 2: think is great at Ridley College. May First to Third
- 12:24Speaker 2: and I know BC we'll try to attend that one,
- 12:28Speaker 2: depending how the playoff schedule is as well. It's hard
- 12:30Speaker 2: to get three days to get there and stuff during
- 12:33Speaker 2: the playoffs, as everybody knows. But May First to third.
- 12:36Speaker 2: The Futures camp at Ridley College. The top prospects in
- 12:40Speaker 2: the OHL in the June OHL Draft incredible And this
- 12:44Speaker 2: is why, this is why I absolutely loved the draft
- 12:49Speaker 2: in June. You're getting games that mean something, You're getting
- 12:53Speaker 2: prospect games, you're getting extra showcases games, You're getting things
- 12:57Speaker 2: that mean more to the players who have their career
- 13:00Speaker 2: on the line. If you're a bubble guy, if it's
- 13:01Speaker 2: a top fifty going Brandon, I don't have the numbers
- 13:03Speaker 2: it top fifty going or top one hundred. I don't
- 13:07Speaker 2: I forget what it was, but one twenty perfect. Let's
- 13:11Speaker 2: say you're that guy on the one twenty spot, you're
- 13:13Speaker 2: a bubble guy. You go there and have a really
- 13:15Speaker 2: good performance, You're gonna rise. You're gonna rise. So I'm
- 13:18Speaker 2: excited to see this, I really am. I think teams
- 13:21Speaker 2: are gonna love it. Hopefully for travel teams in the
- 13:23Speaker 2: postseason are able to attend this all three days. I
- 13:26Speaker 2: think that might be a little hard when you see
- 13:28Speaker 2: about some of these teams, like the windsor Spitfires. Let's
- 13:30Speaker 2: say the Windsors spit Fires are at home against Kitchen
- 13:32Speaker 2: or Rangers. Let's say in the Western Conference Final, that
- 13:36Speaker 2: would be hard to get to Niagara or Saint Catherine
- 13:40Speaker 2: Stupidley College in that situation. But I think that it's
- 13:43Speaker 2: I think it's a great camp. I think it's a
- 13:44Speaker 2: great opportunity for the league. I think it's a great
- 13:47Speaker 2: opportunity for the players, and I think that's what makes
- 13:49Speaker 2: our league the best league in development. I think that
- 13:51Speaker 2: you have to continue to show at the grassroots level
- 13:54Speaker 2: the feeder system coming into the Entario Hockey League needs
- 13:58Speaker 2: to be top notch to turn into top notch right,
- 14:00Speaker 2: and it goes for everybody, goes for officials, it goes
- 14:04Speaker 2: for players, it goes through staff, it goes for everybody.
- 14:06Speaker 2: You gotta be getting in a your U sixteen year,
- 14:09Speaker 2: you gotta be getting.
- 14:10Speaker 1: The g O.
- 14:11Speaker 2: You look at the affiliation there, it's it's great for
- 14:14Speaker 2: the league. And I'm very excited to see this. It's
- 14:16Speaker 2: almost as if when they had the Gold Cup, like
- 14:17Speaker 2: after the Ohl Cup, you're gonna have multiple You're gonna
- 14:20Speaker 2: have multiple opportunities now to grow play in front of scouts,
- 14:23Speaker 2: with your peers, with your top one hundred and twenty
- 14:25Speaker 2: in the draft class. I'm excited to see that. I
- 14:28Speaker 2: cannot wait this year what goes down at Ridley College.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I think that's an excellent opportunity there and UH can't
- 14:34Speaker 2: wait to see it. But one more topic for our
- 14:37Speaker 2: headlines this week. Something that's caught my eye and it's
- 14:40Speaker 2: Rider feder Off shutout record for the Ottawa sixty seven
- 14:44Speaker 2: six shutouts in the season. Incredible And for those on YouTube,
- 14:48Speaker 2: you see the graphic on your screen. Brandon BC's on
- 14:50Speaker 2: the in the clouds on the mic in the action
- 14:53Speaker 2: Rder feder Off Ohl record for the most shutouts by
- 14:57Speaker 2: a rookie goaltender. Six shutouts, twenty eight wins on the
- 15:00Speaker 2: season to two point oh five goals against in a
- 15:03Speaker 2: point ninety two four save percentage. What a season a
- 15:06Speaker 2: Rider feeder Off. I know, Brandon, you got to see
- 15:08Speaker 2: him play on Sunday, and I've been glowing and everyone
- 15:11Speaker 2: who's listened throughout the season here the Ohl and sixty podcast,
- 15:14Speaker 2: thank you. Subscribe. Subscribe wherever you're listening right now. Subscribe
- 15:18Speaker 2: to the YouTube Rider feeder Off. I've been I've been
- 15:22Speaker 2: talking so highly about Ryder feeder Off and I know
- 15:25Speaker 2: you got to see him play, Brandon, you you sent
- 15:27Speaker 2: me the big message. You can see why glowing about him.
- 15:31Speaker 2: He's he's a talent. This kid's a talent and very lucky.
- 15:35Speaker 2: This is where this is where this NCAA agreement is
- 15:38Speaker 2: so good because the Oatawa sixty seventh aren't where they
- 15:40Speaker 2: are without Rider feeder Off.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Yeah. No, he was like very square to the park,
- 15:45Speaker 4: made some big saves, was always engaged. He lost his
- 15:49Speaker 4: stick at one point too, and he was still just
- 15:51Speaker 4: locked into the to the play, made the save. He's
- 15:55Speaker 4: just he's really special to watch and in front of
- 15:57Speaker 4: that Attawa sixty sevens defensive unit makes him even that
- 16:00Speaker 4: much more dangerous. So yeah, that was great to finally
- 16:02Speaker 4: see him in person with Ottawa six nothing win in Niagara,
- 16:05Speaker 4: But yeah, I definitely understand why you're so high on
- 16:10Speaker 4: him this season.
- 16:11Speaker 2: He's so poised, he's so poisoned, so well structured in
- 16:13Speaker 2: the net. He feels the net really well. Doesn't get
- 16:15Speaker 2: out of position a whole lot. If you don't get
- 16:17Speaker 2: out of position a whole lot, that's the name of
- 16:19Speaker 2: the game. As a goaltender. Half of it's just being
- 16:21Speaker 2: in the right position at the right time, right. You
- 16:23Speaker 2: gotta get lucky. Sometimes the puck just gotta hit you.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And for not being the over biggest guy as prototypical.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Now you see all these goaltenders coming up to the
- 16:30Speaker 2: National Hockey they got to the OHL, they're all big,
- 16:33Speaker 2: and for rder Federof to be able to move the netlight,
- 16:35Speaker 2: move around the net like that just shows his potential.
- 16:39Speaker 2: But that'll do it for our headlines and things that
- 16:42Speaker 2: have caught my eye. There's a lot that there's a
- 16:44Speaker 2: lot to chat about. But we got the biggest get
- 16:49Speaker 2: one of the biggest guests we've had our global ambassador
- 16:52Speaker 2: out of the Break. I know he's gonna want to

- 18:07Speaker 2: Welcome back to the second segment of the OHL's Actually Podcast.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Some weeks it's the worst some weeks, it's the best segment.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Josh Brown joins us from the Waterloo Region Record BC
- 18:19Speaker 2: take that one as I was getting it during the break.
- 18:22Speaker 2: But Josh Brown, thanks for joining us, Josh Global ambassador
- 18:27Speaker 2: inspiration to my rough thoughts I mentioned for bulldog fans
- 18:30Speaker 2: with Brownie's points. It's a long time coming, Josh, but
- 18:33Speaker 2: thanks for joining the program.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like this is like this is like
- 18:37Speaker 3: crossing off the bucket list for me. I've been listening
- 18:39Speaker 3: to you guys for a long time and I'm happy
- 18:40Speaker 3: filling big shoes here. Reese, it's tough to take his
- 18:43Speaker 3: spot for a couple of minutes here or whatever, but
- 18:46Speaker 3: I'll do my best.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I think we'll start right with the big topic. Did
- 18:49Speaker 2: you win the fifty to fifty on Friday? And what's
- 18:51Speaker 2: the deals with these fifty fifties in the odd because
- 18:53Speaker 2: old baby our town's pumping it.
- 18:57Speaker 3: If I won the fifty to fifty, you'd just be
- 18:58Speaker 3: seeing a chair sitting here right now. I wouldn't even
- 19:01Speaker 3: be working. I'd just been taking some time off. Maybe
- 19:03Speaker 3: well it wasn't enough to quit, but one hundred and
- 19:06Speaker 3: fifty grand, well, just shy off. I think there's one
- 19:08Speaker 3: forty nine in change, and it was it was a
- 19:11Speaker 3: three game fifty to fifty, but still that was the
- 19:13Speaker 3: highest in OHL history. And beyond that, they gave away
- 19:17Speaker 3: I think another nine grand in prizes and then something
- 19:20Speaker 3: like a dozen signed NHL jerseys of former Rangers and
- 19:23Speaker 3: just like crosb Pasterronik, other great players in the NHL.
- 19:27Speaker 3: So and they gave away a suite for a night
- 19:30Speaker 3: season tickets, so it was it was if you were
- 19:31Speaker 3: going to get a ticket. It was a sixteen day
- 19:33Speaker 3: run prize every day and then ended with one hundred
- 19:36Speaker 3: and fifty g's. It was funny because when I went
- 19:38Speaker 3: into the autumn Friday, the last day, it was like
- 19:40Speaker 3: one hundred grand, and I was like, oh, it made it.
- 19:42Speaker 3: They made it two hundred grand, which was their goal,
- 19:44Speaker 3: which means they collected two hundred grand, right, and then
- 19:47Speaker 3: just I guess, I think seeing the rolling number going
- 19:50Speaker 3: over one hundred g's in the crowd like wetted everybody's
- 19:53Speaker 3: appetite and they were like, oh my god, I gotta
- 19:55Speaker 3: get in on this again, and they were buying tickets,
- 19:56Speaker 3: and it just kept going up and up and almost
- 19:58Speaker 3: reached one fifty, which, like I said before, was two
- 20:01Speaker 3: and it's like three hundred grand, you know, purchased one
- 20:04Speaker 3: hundred and fifty for charity on hundred and fifty for
- 20:06Speaker 3: some lucky boster who have to go home with with
- 20:09Speaker 3: you know, imagine good. I would say, like, imagine I
- 20:11Speaker 3: got I one, which is a dream. I went to
- 20:14Speaker 3: work and worked a you know, an eight hour shift
- 20:16Speaker 3: and went home with one hundred and fifty grand in
- 20:18Speaker 3: your park. I'd be a pretty good day at work.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, take the name off, get some days off,
- 20:22Speaker 2: get some paid leaves as well.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Right there.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Take it easy, don't don't stress yourself out too much
- 20:28Speaker 2: after a long day's work at the office. But uh,
- 20:31Speaker 2: it's been a while year for the Rangers, Josh. I
- 20:33Speaker 2: know you've been listening and I've been on the hype train.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Sam o'reiley he's kind of like, in my opinion, and
- 20:39Speaker 2: I don't want to say identity because that's a huge
- 20:41Speaker 2: way to say in hockey. But on the same time,
- 20:44Speaker 2: he's brought in some element to the Rangers that it's
- 20:46Speaker 2: like this is legitate number one contender for the Jay
- 20:50Speaker 2: Ross season. What's been the behind factor of Sam O'Reilly
- 20:54Speaker 2: and working with Sam O'Riley, Jared Woolly as well of
- 20:56Speaker 2: that move. What's been the what's been the main factor
- 20:59Speaker 2: of that movie? It has that been the big one
- 21:01Speaker 2: for the Rangers success.
- 21:02Speaker 3: The secret sauce if you will, I guess it's funny.
- 21:06Speaker 3: It's good timing you bread this up. And first of all,
- 21:07Speaker 3: I was one of the kudos to you guys because
- 21:10Speaker 3: you guys have you know, pointed out his value when
- 21:14Speaker 3: a lot of other people haven't. And also good timing.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I think I've been working on a feature on Sam
- 21:19Speaker 3: for two weeks now and I think it comes out
- 21:22Speaker 3: this the week of the playoffs. So I was talking
- 21:25Speaker 3: to you know, old coaches, family members, Tampa Bay Scouts, Rangers.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Mark Hunter stiffed me wouldn't do an interview for it,
- 21:33Speaker 3: but they did give.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Me okay, as far well, I can do the interview
- 21:39Speaker 2: up in London. I grew up in London.
- 21:41Speaker 6: Okay.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Mark's been great to me in the past, He's always
- 21:44Speaker 3: had an interviews. Anyways, Rob was was was great and
- 21:46Speaker 3: worked for the story. I was just trying to get
- 21:48Speaker 3: some light because this is my fifteenth year covering the Rangers,
- 21:51Speaker 3: and I was thinking about it one night he I
- 21:55Speaker 3: I've come to the conclusion that he is the best
- 21:56Speaker 3: player I've ever seen in the Rangers uniform, which which
- 21:59Speaker 3: was not easy to say. Yeah, I've seen a lot
- 22:02Speaker 3: of good players, but he is. He's just he is
- 22:05Speaker 3: the most complete player I've ever seen on this team.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Like you said, he's put them over the top.
- 22:10Speaker 1: They are.
- 22:11Speaker 3: I think I had to write it down. Here's twenty
- 22:13Speaker 3: two and two, one and one since the trade deadline.
- 22:15Speaker 3: So they've lost four times twice in regulation, forty six
- 22:19Speaker 3: of a possible forty four of a possible fifty points,
- 22:23Speaker 3: which is not real. And yeah, they made a bunch
- 22:25Speaker 3: of moves. So it's not just Samuel Riley. But it's
- 22:28Speaker 3: hard to say, like the he's a he's a he's
- 22:31Speaker 3: a I'm gonna say he's on a strange caut He's
- 22:33Speaker 3: a serious guy, like people say. You talk to players
- 22:38Speaker 3: and they say they're serious. They're focused on making the NHL.
- 22:40Speaker 3: It's all about, you know, doing the work. This is
- 22:44Speaker 3: another level like and what he does is and this
- 22:47Speaker 3: was a quote somebody gave me, is he just he
- 22:48Speaker 3: pulls everybody with him. So when he goes and just
- 22:51Speaker 3: up practicing the gym at games. It's NonStop, whether they're
- 22:56Speaker 3: they're creaming a team or behind. He's one hundred percent
- 22:59Speaker 3: all the time. He might mcann he said, you know
- 23:01Speaker 3: there was a game in Sarnia where the whole team
- 23:03Speaker 3: wasn't playing well, and he's like, Sam could have played
- 23:05Speaker 3: eighty percent. You know that game. I have a number
- 23:07Speaker 3: one draft pick in the NHL. And he's like, he didn't.
- 23:09Speaker 3: He got five points that game on six goals, And
- 23:14Speaker 3: there's no eighty percent for this guy. He's one hundred
- 23:16Speaker 3: percent all the time. He plays two way. He was
- 23:18Speaker 3: a defenseman for his whole life up until his draft year. Right,
- 23:20Speaker 3: So that's kind of explains a little bit about why
- 23:23Speaker 3: he's so good at the two way game. But he
- 23:25Speaker 3: wins draws. He's you know, he's a little he's got
- 23:28Speaker 3: a little a grit to his game. He can score,
- 23:32Speaker 3: he kills penalty. He's like, he's the guy I always
- 23:34Speaker 3: say I was alluded to Mike Richards. He was when
- 23:37Speaker 3: he was here. He was the guy you tapped on
- 23:38Speaker 3: the shoulder when when the game wasn't going well, he say,
- 23:40Speaker 3: he might go do something. They get a goal, make
- 23:42Speaker 3: a big hit, change the flow of this game and
- 23:45Speaker 3: that's Samuel Riley and they ever since they've got him.
- 23:49Speaker 3: You can't see a guy play like that and dog
- 23:52Speaker 3: it or not give it all. And so he got
- 23:54Speaker 3: guys who I don't think I've seen maybe deliver five
- 23:58Speaker 3: or six body checks all year now running eyes into
- 24:00Speaker 3: the board. It's like it's bringing out this energy and
- 24:02Speaker 3: everybody because it's embarrassing if you if some guy's busting
- 24:06Speaker 3: his butt and you're not right. And it's not just him,
- 24:09Speaker 3: you know, Dylan Edwards, he's not a big guy, but
- 24:12Speaker 3: he plays with edge, you know, Matt Andanofski getting getting
- 24:17Speaker 3: that guy sent back was like a Christmas gift right
- 24:21Speaker 3: well in there, and you know, like it's another thing.
- 24:24Speaker 3: So so Riley brings the leadership and again you know
- 24:26Speaker 3: obviously you guys know the stories. He's won two old titles. Uh,
- 24:30Speaker 3: he's been to two monmorl Cups, one last year. Like
- 24:33Speaker 3: these guys aren't here to finish the season out either,
- 24:35Speaker 3: like they want to be him and will they want
- 24:36Speaker 3: to win three OEL titles in a row and and Bash.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Three three in a row.
- 24:42Speaker 3: An I think Peterborough won three in a row in
- 24:44Speaker 3: the late seventies. So there's some guys on that squad.
- 24:46Speaker 3: But other than that, I don't think there's too many guys.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I'd have to I tried to get it out of
- 24:50Speaker 3: the OHL, but they weren't too sure with guys being
- 24:52Speaker 3: traded if if they'd won a couple, then one with
- 24:54Speaker 3: a new team or not. But like this guy so
- 24:58Speaker 3: so o'riley's brought the leadership and lead by example and
- 25:01Speaker 3: and sort of Swiss army knife where he can do everything,
- 25:05Speaker 3: and O and Edwards and you know Willie's a big
- 25:09Speaker 3: guy too. I think what they've done is they've made
- 25:11Speaker 3: a team that that has in the past been seen
- 25:14Speaker 3: that you could push around a little bit, one of
- 25:16Speaker 3: the toughest teams in the league, like they've had. The
- 25:19Speaker 3: three of their last five games I think have ended
- 25:21Speaker 3: in like brawls, Like yeah, last night, gwel there was
- 25:24Speaker 3: a game in Brampton where they finished with twelve guys
- 25:26Speaker 3: in the ice against Brampton that they all the eight
- 25:29Speaker 3: other guys central dressing, so they took a picture et
- 25:32Speaker 3: cetera ice because there's so few guys. And then the
- 25:35Speaker 3: game against Windsor was tough. Sous Saint Marie. I mean,
- 25:38Speaker 3: everyone's seen the clips of you know, Martin running into
- 25:41Speaker 3: Kurse and the Nando taking them out and uh so
- 25:45Speaker 3: they're they're no job. Now they're gonna have to reel
- 25:47Speaker 3: that into the playoffs because you give a power play
- 25:49Speaker 3: to a team in the playoffs and that's that can
- 25:51Speaker 3: do you in. Like the Margins are slimmer, but I
- 25:54Speaker 3: don't think that they're a team you're going to push around,
- 25:56Speaker 3: and that that hasn't always been their reputation in the
- 25:58Speaker 3: last decade. I would say, so, yeah, yeah, yeah. And
- 26:02Speaker 3: the other guy I wanted the bench of two is
- 26:04Speaker 3: done well, who's still on his Christian kirsh Like you know,
- 26:08Speaker 3: I I thought he was looking, honestly a little bit shake.
- 26:10Speaker 2: He was.
- 26:10Speaker 3: He was frowning into form. Then he went to the
- 26:12Speaker 3: World to represent Switzerland and came back. He let out
- 26:14Speaker 3: a few softies game after game in the last month,
- 26:17Speaker 3: thought so I have to just to make sure I
- 26:19Speaker 3: get the numbers right. So in the last month he
- 26:21Speaker 3: last yeah, last month, eight games he's played with stretches.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Over the last month, he's shut out Ottawa, Winsor and
- 26:27Speaker 3: Sussein Marie. Uh you know, not not no jokes, right,
- 26:32Speaker 3: those are good teams that Goldigan's average one point five percentage,
- 26:36Speaker 3: and he's just he's making those saves now. And their
- 26:39Speaker 3: plan was for him to peak in March and into
- 26:41Speaker 3: the playoffs, and he's tracking. So that's another spot that
- 26:45Speaker 3: was maybe a little build a question mark lockdown. Now
- 26:49Speaker 3: like he's he's just in his own and and that's
- 26:52Speaker 3: you know, it's giving them. I mean they're they're not
- 26:54Speaker 3: allowing a lot of shots either, like team defense. Everything's
- 26:57Speaker 3: rolling right now. I'm hesitant to you said number one status.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I don't know about that. Like I've covered this team
- 27:02Speaker 3: for fifteen years and they've never made then HL final.
- 27:06Speaker 2: So hard, it's hard two thousand and eight.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know we're going on like eighteen years
- 27:11Speaker 3: of not even making it, not winning, not even.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Making it right. So if you see they're starting to
- 27:15Speaker 2: start for it. To be honest, it's for a junior.
- 27:18Speaker 2: It's a drough. It's not like the Sarniat thing drought
- 27:20Speaker 2: where without the playoffs, it's playing on the nights back
- 27:23Speaker 2: to back years in the frustration getting over the hump
- 27:26Speaker 2: with winsor just it's just that one series, you know.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and there was a lot of those years too
- 27:32Speaker 3: where you're you know, we don't remember this, but there
- 27:34Speaker 3: was a lot of good years with Eerie, right, I
- 27:35Speaker 3: think all those fifty one seasons and Nick David and
- 27:38Speaker 3: to bring It and Strom and like they it was
- 27:41Speaker 3: tough to beat those teams too. So they've had good teams,
- 27:44Speaker 3: they just haven't been able to get there. And you know,
- 27:47Speaker 3: from a reporting standpoint, i'd left to cover a team
- 27:49Speaker 3: that goes to a final. You know, I don't cheer
- 27:52Speaker 3: for them either way, but just to you know, it'd
- 27:54Speaker 3: be fun for the job, that's for sure.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Absolutely. You know it's nice and your team goes on
- 27:58Speaker 2: a little bit of a run here and you say
- 28:00Speaker 2: a hocus. Obviously, you've worked with some really good coaches,
- 28:02Speaker 2: myself with j McKee. I you've worked with Jay McKee,
- 28:05Speaker 2: and Jay's great. We've all heard the story of the
- 28:07Speaker 2: same stories. It's always fun when we see each other
- 28:10Speaker 2: when we cross paths and shared j mi kee stories
- 28:12Speaker 2: that we've all heard. And that would be a great podcast,
- 28:15Speaker 2: by the way, on the Ohl and sixty podcast, j
- 28:17Speaker 2: McKee's stories with all of us, Branford, Kitchener, Hamilton, anyone
- 28:21Speaker 2: that's worked with Jay McKee and share stories. That'd be
- 28:23Speaker 2: a blast, but you say a hocus. What's it like working?
- 28:25Speaker 2: When you say a hocus? It kind of feels like
- 28:28Speaker 2: He's a quiet guy, but great communicator. He reminds me
- 28:31Speaker 2: a lot of what Jamickee was like. And how familiar
- 28:34Speaker 2: are you with that? I guess comparing the two, is
- 28:40Speaker 2: it any similarities at all? And what did you say?
- 28:42Speaker 3: Like, Well, they're both good coaches, they're both they both
- 28:45Speaker 3: get the respect of their players, so that they have
- 28:47Speaker 3: that in common. I think they're pretty different guys like Jays.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Jay's a bit of a I find you to be
- 28:51Speaker 3: a bit of a talker. Like you know, when he
- 28:53Speaker 3: was here, every before every game, I would go to
- 28:56Speaker 3: his office and talk about the lineups and you know,
- 28:59Speaker 3: who's in and who's out of the matchups and things
- 29:00Speaker 3: like that, and he he loved to talk the game.
- 29:03Speaker 3: I think Uc does as well. He's just because he's
- 29:07Speaker 3: I don't know. I think his English is great and
- 29:09Speaker 3: wonder if maybe he doesn't feel as comfortable getting in
- 29:11Speaker 3: depth with it because of the language barrier. But he's
- 29:15Speaker 3: he's a lot more serious and I think Jay had
- 29:18Speaker 3: a bit of a sense of humor. U s does
- 29:20Speaker 3: because you really got to kind of work for it
- 29:22Speaker 3: with him and and someone when you've been around him
- 29:26Speaker 3: long enough, he can he cracks some jokes, but he's
- 29:30Speaker 3: just you know, he's what they both are is they're
- 29:32Speaker 3: both driven dudes, right like I. You know, I'm surprised
- 29:36Speaker 3: Jay already hasn't taken a leap up in my and
- 29:38Speaker 3: I don't know this, but my suspicion is because that's
- 29:41Speaker 3: my choice, because I would imagine he's had lots of
- 29:44Speaker 3: opportunities if he wanted to. I know, he's got a
- 29:46Speaker 3: young family, so you know, maybe, and he's in a
- 29:48Speaker 3: great situation right now. U SE's on on a mission.
- 29:51Speaker 3: He came here to already had coached pro one pro
- 29:55Speaker 3: Coach of the Year in Europe of all the leagues,
- 29:58Speaker 3: coached extensively with national program, and he wants to get
- 30:03Speaker 3: to the NHL and he thinks, you know, part of
- 30:05Speaker 3: his plan was let's prove myself in North America and
- 30:08Speaker 3: that will put a few more doors for me. And
- 30:10Speaker 3: he's already had every summer he gets interviews with with
- 30:12Speaker 3: NHL teams, the right opportunity hasn't come along. I'd be
- 30:15Speaker 3: surprised if he's back next year.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Huntred a great opportunity as well. And I mean we
- 30:20Speaker 2: spoke with Danny Rere, Flyers general manager back in November
- 30:23Speaker 2: about Jamieckee and if it wasn't for Rick Talckett becoming available,
- 30:26Speaker 2: all signs point towards Jamickeby and the head coach of
- 30:29Speaker 2: Philadelphia Flyers right now. And it's a great comparison. I mean,
- 30:32Speaker 2: the two guys that can really really approach the game
- 30:35Speaker 2: with a process and they're really driven, like you mentioned
- 30:38Speaker 2: and very well said. But Mike McKenzie, general manager. The
- 30:41Speaker 2: McKenzie family has had so much go on in the
- 30:44Speaker 2: McKenzie's McKenzie family with hockey obviously his dad Bob, but
- 30:49Speaker 2: Mike McKenzie, it felt like there was It felt through
- 30:54Speaker 2: the year that there was no more ups and downs
- 30:57Speaker 2: to the gms. It felt like at the beginning of
- 30:58Speaker 2: the year it was okay Ohl Final, this is our
- 31:02Speaker 2: year too, Memorial Cup, Okay, golf gets it, but we're
- 31:07Speaker 2: going for it. Is that is that kind of the
- 31:10Speaker 2: approach And what's it like working with mister mackenzie there
- 31:12Speaker 2: in the knowledge that he has for the game is uncanny.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Mike's a super competitive guy. Sitting next to him last
- 31:20Speaker 3: night and gwelf. You know, if he doesn't like a call,
- 31:22Speaker 3: he's not afraid to let people know, and he doesn't
- 31:26Speaker 3: like to lose. He but he's a smart guy too,
- 31:29Speaker 3: and it's a shrewd gym. I think, you know, they
- 31:34Speaker 3: the plan was always next year for this team. The
- 31:38Speaker 3: core of this team is eighteen years old and they
- 31:41Speaker 3: were so they wanted them to peak next year, all
- 31:43Speaker 3: in their nineteenth year and still is still is young.
- 31:46Speaker 3: You know, like they lot a lot of guys are
- 31:48Speaker 3: coming back next year. But when they lost the Memorial Cup,
- 31:51Speaker 3: you know, kind of forced their hand. It wasn't just
- 31:52Speaker 3: that they lost the bit to golf, it was that
- 31:54Speaker 3: they were already kind of ahead of the plan. Anyway.
- 31:57Speaker 3: At the time, they were one of the top teams
- 31:59Speaker 3: in the West, so I think they were thinking, like, hey,
- 32:00Speaker 3: we're kind of peaking a bit early here. It was
- 32:03Speaker 3: weird because the beginning of the year when they lost
- 32:05Speaker 3: they lost Luke Allenis, Like people don't remember, like, you know,
- 32:07Speaker 3: if they don't have Luke Allenis he was on pace
- 32:09Speaker 3: for forty goals. You know, he was their best player
- 32:12Speaker 3: forward in the playoffs last year. Uh, He's played five
- 32:15Speaker 3: games this year, so he's an NHL draft pack. He's
- 32:17Speaker 3: not in Atlanta. Bander McNeil, another top four defenseman, maybe
- 32:21Speaker 3: even the top two on some teams. NHL draft pick
- 32:23Speaker 3: hasn't played more than a month, Like they're missing guys
- 32:25Speaker 3: if they had so when they lost ellenis it kind
- 32:27Speaker 3: of that kind of I thought, Okay, next year's got
- 32:30Speaker 3: to be the year now. So they just kept doing
- 32:32Speaker 3: They kept doing so well that that the combination of
- 32:35Speaker 3: losing the Memorial Cup and that they were already near
- 32:37Speaker 3: the top made it an no brainer. And what I
- 32:40Speaker 3: liked about his moves where that they weren't almost maybe
- 32:43Speaker 3: the obvious ones, but for his team, he got guys
- 32:47Speaker 3: that they addressed needs of this team, Like you can
- 32:49Speaker 3: put a million high end forwards on your team, but
- 32:52Speaker 3: if they can't, like O'Reilly win draws, play a two
- 32:54Speaker 3: way game like Sara. You know, he doesn't have a
- 32:57Speaker 3: point in what ten games now, but delivers in so
- 33:00Speaker 3: many other ways, like you know, out of grit, added
- 33:04Speaker 3: a leadership, out of maturity. It was, like I said,
- 33:06Speaker 3: the ball of his team eighteen. All these guys now
- 33:09Speaker 3: that they're they have older guys to look up to.
- 33:12Speaker 3: And I thought his moves really addressed everything that they
- 33:16Speaker 3: were missing and lacking.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely, I mean you kind of had to right
- 33:20Speaker 2: when you're in the mix like that, you do it.
- 33:21Speaker 2: And to get the Midwest this year, I'm sure that's
- 33:23Speaker 2: a big deal too. In Kitchener finally he thrown the
- 33:26Speaker 2: lot of nights and that's been the talking point for
- 33:28Speaker 2: the Rangers as well, and Mike McKenzie is definitely busy.
- 33:31Speaker 2: This is kind of josh a question. I know OHL content,
- 33:35Speaker 2: and it feels to me that this year has been
- 33:40Speaker 2: the year in the OHL in general, and with the
- 33:42Speaker 2: new landscape of the league, it feels like it's the
- 33:45Speaker 2: year of opportunity in the OHL. Dylan Edwards comes over
- 33:50Speaker 2: from the Area otters. I know you kind of touched
- 33:52Speaker 2: on him, but Dylan Edwards comes over from the are
- 33:53Speaker 2: Otters and you look at what he's done in Kitchener
- 33:56Speaker 2: compared to where he was an eerie. I don't want
- 33:59Speaker 2: to say night and day, but you see a spark
- 34:02Speaker 2: in his game and is it for years standpoint? Is
- 34:05Speaker 2: it kind of that year where you're seeing guys get opportunity,
- 34:08Speaker 2: getting traded elsewhere and getting this fresh start and real
- 34:11Speaker 2: exploding onto the scene.
- 34:13Speaker 3: But for him, it was interesting because I think what
- 34:15Speaker 3: that was like this goes back to my point about Mike. Yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 3: he was doing really well in Earie. And this is
- 34:19Speaker 3: no offense to theory audits, Like clearly they're just on it.
- 34:21Speaker 3: They're in a different part of their their rebuild than
- 34:24Speaker 3: than some of the top teams. But they saw what
- 34:25Speaker 3: he was doing in Eerie, and they kind of plugged
- 34:28Speaker 3: him into the image of their kind of algorithm and thought, Okay,
- 34:31Speaker 3: what would he You know, we're seeing these qualities, and
- 34:34Speaker 3: we our model tells us that if you take those
- 34:37Speaker 3: qualities and put put them in a lineup where he's
- 34:39Speaker 3: surrounded by greater players, that he's going to take right off.
- 34:42Speaker 3: And and and you can think, well you want about
- 34:44Speaker 3: that until you see it, you don't believe it. And
- 34:46Speaker 3: it worked, and and and and he is one of
- 34:48Speaker 3: those guys where you know, good gms and good staff
- 34:51Speaker 3: see where guys can thrive in different situations. And I
- 34:54Speaker 3: think that's what you're saying more is you're just seeing
- 34:55Speaker 3: guys being put into the proper situations for where they
- 34:58Speaker 3: are in the development. Right now, he's been He's been
- 35:00Speaker 3: a real fine for them. I mean, they essentially gave
- 35:02Speaker 3: up a player for him, you know, a seventeen year
- 35:06Speaker 3: old guy in the first round drop pick, which which
- 35:07Speaker 3: isn't taken lightly, but it's a pretty good haul man
- 35:09Speaker 3: because like when he's done, you didn't lose any set
- 35:13Speaker 3: for seconds or thirds as well or a bunch of prospects.
- 35:16Speaker 3: So that was a major win for the Rangers right now.
- 35:19Speaker 3: And we're and it's a weird year I'm finding just
- 35:21Speaker 3: in the Ohl in general, because I think last year
- 35:22Speaker 3: there was like maybe two or three teams you thought
- 35:24Speaker 3: could win it all. Yeah, you knew London was probably
- 35:26Speaker 3: gonna win it, but you thought, okay, there might be
- 35:29Speaker 3: a couple of teams in the East. Yeah, And this
- 35:31Speaker 3: year I feel like, I mean, I think there's four,
- 35:33Speaker 3: at least four in London, five if if they pulled
- 35:36Speaker 3: their socks up they've been struggling lately, that could come
- 35:38Speaker 3: out of the West and in the East. You know,
- 35:40Speaker 3: you got at least three teams that are right in it.
- 35:43Speaker 3: It's you know, it's no, it's no, it's gonna be
- 35:46Speaker 3: no lock to get to the Memorial Cup this year,
- 35:48Speaker 3: that's for sure.
- 35:49Speaker 7: No.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Absolutely, It's funny we talked about that, you have six
- 35:52Speaker 2: teams right now in the OHL with seven hundred plus
- 35:54Speaker 2: winning percent those on YouTube watching right now, six teams
- 35:58Speaker 2: with seven hundred plus winning percent, and it speaks for
- 36:00Speaker 2: itself in Sussaint Marie, London, you know, North Bay, Peterborough,
- 36:04Speaker 2: in the East. It can't count any team out right
- 36:07Speaker 2: now and there. Maybe that's why we don't see a
- 36:09Speaker 2: hundred point one hundred point player right now like we
- 36:13Speaker 2: proto typically do, because the teams are just better this
- 36:15Speaker 2: year and there's more parody in the league. But definitely
- 36:18Speaker 2: I wanted to ask you this because I know you've
- 36:19Speaker 2: been around now fifteen years. You mentioned congratulations. By the way, Josh,
- 36:23Speaker 2: that's a that's a heard accomplishment in the Ontario Hockey
- 36:26Speaker 2: League because you know, you know the stuff you have
- 36:28Speaker 2: to deal with. Some nights are great, some years are great.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Some years there's a tough year and you've got to
- 36:33Speaker 2: answer all the hard questions. But for what you could share,
- 36:36Speaker 2: I know BC has a eight night in the movie
- 36:38Speaker 2: theater last season, but what is the craziest story that
- 36:42Speaker 2: you've had to put together in your time with the
- 36:44Speaker 2: Rangers in with the water record.
- 36:47Speaker 3: There's been a lot of something you know, like, I'm so,
- 36:51Speaker 3: how do I answer this? I guess my style is
- 36:53Speaker 3: to try to be as objective and reporter and report things,
- 36:59Speaker 3: but I also want to stand that a lot of
- 37:02Speaker 3: the time these are kids, so I try not to.
- 37:05Speaker 6: Uh.
- 37:06Speaker 3: There's been a lot of stories that I could have
- 37:07Speaker 3: written that that I didn't, and and that was just
- 37:12Speaker 3: a personal choice because it was more about you know,
- 37:15Speaker 3: people like this guy stinks why he's struggling, Well, they
- 37:17Speaker 3: don't realize that, like you know his parents got divorced
- 37:20Speaker 3: last week, or you know, his sibling is in the
- 37:24Speaker 3: hospital cleaning to life, like things like that have happened,
- 37:26Speaker 3: and unless the player wants to talk about that, like
- 37:29Speaker 3: I don't ever not bring it up. But I don't
- 37:31Speaker 3: just go and report on personal things like that. So
- 37:34Speaker 3: there's been some other ones where you know, social media
- 37:37Speaker 3: and things being sent to players on team buses and
- 37:40Speaker 3: things that I wanted to write about, but I don't
- 37:43Speaker 3: travel on the team bus for that reason, because what
- 37:44Speaker 3: happens on the bus days of the bus and you
- 37:47Speaker 3: know what, I was hearing things, I was like, I
- 37:48Speaker 3: want to write this story. Like obviously, if someone had
- 37:50Speaker 3: been hazed or something, I would have written the story.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I was could to ignore that, but just you know,
- 37:54Speaker 3: they're kids at the end of the day. So to
- 37:56Speaker 3: answer your question, story is a couple. A couple that
- 37:59Speaker 3: stand out are There was a year against cust Marie
- 38:02Speaker 3: where in the playoffs, the last time the Rangers or
- 38:06Speaker 3: the second last time the Rangers were in the Western
- 38:07Speaker 3: Conference Final, went to game seven. They won Game six
- 38:10Speaker 3: at the odd in a comeback fashion, very emotional, and
- 38:15Speaker 3: Johannie Smith flashed the bird at the Sioux bench and
- 38:20Speaker 3: chaos erupted. He ended up getting suspended for Game seven,
- 38:22Speaker 3: which was unfortunate because it was his last to age game,
- 38:25Speaker 3: which they lost in double overtime. But the hard part
- 38:28Speaker 3: was all the death threats, racist threats he got sent
- 38:33Speaker 3: to his emails, his Facebook from all sorts of people
- 38:37Speaker 3: for the way he behaved. And I see people of
- 38:41Speaker 3: do that all the time and don't get that kind
- 38:43Speaker 3: of treatment. And it was it was a hard story
- 38:45Speaker 3: to write, and it was a reminder that you know,
- 38:47Speaker 3: there's a lot of crop out there, and it was
- 38:49Speaker 3: and I didn't like that that stands out for not
- 38:51Speaker 3: the right reasons. But you know, he had to go
- 38:53Speaker 3: to the game seven in the back of a cop car, like,
- 38:58Speaker 3: you know, what a terrible thing to fit issue or
- 39:00Speaker 3: junior career on, you know, for safety. They put them
- 39:03Speaker 3: in for safety right like and you know another one again,
- 39:07Speaker 3: you know they're they're more human issues. They're not really
- 39:09Speaker 3: about hockey.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Yeah that's the thing. Yeah.
- 39:12Speaker 3: The Rangers had a player named Eric Guest who was
- 39:14Speaker 3: you know, alleged that he was forced to cocaine at
- 39:17Speaker 3: a team party and he was hazed a whole bunch
- 39:20Speaker 3: of stuff and and he went on social media and
- 39:24Speaker 3: kind of poured his heart out. So that those are
- 39:27Speaker 3: two that stand out, you know as tougher ones to
- 39:30Speaker 3: write about because they you know, they dealt with the
- 39:32Speaker 3: stuff for mental health and racism and it was, yeah,
- 39:36Speaker 3: you know, the hard stories you get to get information on,
- 39:39Speaker 3: so you really gotta to plug away at them. But
- 39:42Speaker 3: but I always say the best stories are the ones
- 39:43Speaker 3: that they called them the refrigerator stories, the stories that
- 39:47Speaker 3: the people cut out and and magnet on the refrigerator
- 39:50Speaker 3: because they like it so much and they keep it forever.
- 39:54Speaker 3: And those are the ones that make me happiest.
- 39:56Speaker 2: No, absolutely, and very well, said Josh, because I think
- 40:00Speaker 2: the one thing that fans struggle with sometimes is the
- 40:03Speaker 2: human aspect that players are. They're human at the end
- 40:06Speaker 2: of the day, they're human and their kids and you
- 40:08Speaker 2: hear every basically every general manager, coach when you talk
- 40:12Speaker 2: to them in the Entario Hockey League throughout the league,
- 40:14Speaker 2: you always hear the same thing, their kids. And that's
- 40:17Speaker 2: the big thing. And that's why I always like asking
- 40:18Speaker 2: certain people about that that same question. I'm not competitive,
- 40:21Speaker 2: but it's nice to know what people that cover the league,
- 40:25Speaker 2: cover teams know that, hey, they're human and you're trying
- 40:29Speaker 2: to share the positive stories to help the player and
- 40:32Speaker 2: share the positive to the fans. So very well, said Josh.
- 40:34Speaker 2: I really appreciate that answer, and we'll get we'll get
- 40:38Speaker 2: to a positive because the odd renovation. I never got
- 40:41Speaker 2: to see the dressing room, but the media room is
- 40:43Speaker 2: spectacular and I keep saying, I want that Bulldog's logo
- 40:47Speaker 2: if ever goes missing. I took it. I took it
- 40:49Speaker 2: in the media room. Incredible media room that they did.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Thoughts on the new renovation. I know it's kind of
- 40:54Speaker 2: dated now, the renovation, but level of legacy at the
- 40:58Speaker 2: wall there, it looks really with the amount of players
- 41:01Speaker 2: going up there.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Thoughts on the renovation This is gonna be a very
- 41:06Speaker 3: unpopular take. I'm ready for a new rink. I think
- 41:10Speaker 3: it's time to move on. I think it's time to
- 41:12Speaker 3: move on from the odd I've been saying it for
- 41:13Speaker 3: a while. It's limited in what they can do. They
- 41:16Speaker 3: can't do a lot of promotions. They can't. You know,
- 41:19Speaker 3: there's not a lot of new eats and stuff like that.
- 41:22Speaker 3: And you know, you know how that I was. We
- 41:24Speaker 3: were talking before we went on air about the band
- 41:25Speaker 3: in Niagara. They can't do that kind of thing in
- 41:27Speaker 3: Niagara or in Kitchen because there's no room. I mean,
- 41:30Speaker 3: the place is built in the nineteen fifty of them.
- 41:32Speaker 3: I think that it's time with sub Arena for the
- 41:34Speaker 3: oldest rink in the Ohl charm galore, you know, love
- 41:39Speaker 3: that aspect, love the mini MEI belief gardens, I love
- 41:41Speaker 3: all the mixing cranies. But it just in today's day
- 41:44Speaker 3: and age. If these guys want to compete with the NCAA,
- 41:48Speaker 3: they got to have the bells and whistles, and it's
- 41:49Speaker 3: got to be in this market. You know. For years
- 41:52Speaker 3: before they did the latest seat expansion, they had a
- 41:55Speaker 3: waiting list for season tickets. Hold there's it was over
- 41:57Speaker 3: a thousand people, you know, like there's there's there's a
- 42:01Speaker 3: market here they could that will more people will go
- 42:03Speaker 3: to games. I think if they had a rink like
- 42:06Speaker 3: London's size, it would serve the market better. And I
- 42:11Speaker 3: you know, I think that the fact that the city
- 42:13Speaker 3: hasn't started the ball rolling on this, doesn't have a
- 42:15Speaker 3: reserve fund ready, hasn't done any planning, is is you know,
- 42:19Speaker 3: irresponsible in my opinion. I mean they've talked about it
- 42:22Speaker 3: for years. When I first got here, I wrote a
- 42:23Speaker 3: big feature series on then you know what a new
- 42:26Speaker 3: rink look like and I was like ten years ago
- 42:28Speaker 3: and nothing's been done. Now COVID kind of did didn't
- 42:31Speaker 3: help stuff. But you look at look at Branford's rolling
- 42:33Speaker 3: along here and other places of Subbury like that. You know,
- 42:36Speaker 3: people are doing things during the renovations are really nice,
- 42:40Speaker 3: Like the rangers are doing the best they can with
- 42:42Speaker 3: what they have. Right the new so you didn't see
- 42:45Speaker 3: the dressing room in it's pretty swanky, like it's a
- 42:48Speaker 3: huge gym right outside the dressing room, huge lounge. All
- 42:51Speaker 3: the coaches off of steam rooms on a room, you
- 42:54Speaker 3: know steam or workout training facilities and everything's brand new
- 43:00Speaker 3: and looks great. It's just I think the rink itself,
- 43:03Speaker 3: so the players get all the bells and whistles so
- 43:04Speaker 3: for them to come here, and they had to do
- 43:06Speaker 3: that to keep up with all the NCAA stuff. But
- 43:08Speaker 3: I would just like to see it would be it
- 43:10Speaker 3: would be really sad, don't get me wrong. A lot
- 43:13Speaker 3: of memories and a lot of charm there. I just
- 43:14Speaker 3: think it's time this this market deserves a brand new
- 43:18Speaker 3: spank and new rink that can do all sorts of stuff,
- 43:20Speaker 3: concerts and you know, and you can bring some of
- 43:23Speaker 3: that old charm into the new place. But yeah, I'm
- 43:27Speaker 3: ready for I'm ready for what's.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Next one hundred percent. And we're on arena topics, and
- 43:32Speaker 2: it's very well said because it's one of those things
- 43:34Speaker 2: where it's a classic arena and you see that side
- 43:38Speaker 2: for the people, but then you also see these other
- 43:40Speaker 2: cities around the league. Look what Ashawat's done with their facility. There,
- 43:44Speaker 2: like a lot of teams here stepping up to the
- 43:46Speaker 2: with their facilities. And I think that eventually you got
- 43:50Speaker 2: to make that tough decision to take two steps forward
- 43:53Speaker 2: and possibly with the next Memorial Cup or whatever, Right,
- 43:56Speaker 2: with those tournaments as well.
- 43:57Speaker 3: But I wanted to mention the money leaving money on
- 44:00Speaker 3: the table, right, like they cannot you know, they could
- 44:02Speaker 3: get more advertising in, they could get more people in,
- 44:05Speaker 3: they could get more nice seats that go all the
- 44:06Speaker 3: way around, you know, like the press box. You could
- 44:09Speaker 3: see the scoreboard maybe selfishly, I can't see right, It's crazy, man.
- 44:15Speaker 2: I always joke about that every time on there. It's
- 44:17Speaker 2: like I'm in Waterloo.
- 44:18Speaker 3: It's a lot, yeah, like they spent this. Uh, I
- 44:21Speaker 3: don't know. I forget how much millions it cost to
- 44:23Speaker 3: get the scoreboard, which is awesome, and it's been there
- 44:26Speaker 3: and someone told me the other day I think it's
- 44:27Speaker 3: been there almost a decade now, which blew my mind,
- 44:29Speaker 3: but because I thought it was like two years ago.
- 44:31Speaker 3: But uh, I've never seen it, Like I literally have
- 44:34Speaker 3: never seen it because the beams from the old roof
- 44:36Speaker 3: couldn't be taken out face down, yeah, and you can't
- 44:39Speaker 3: see it. So they do. They do a good job
- 44:41Speaker 3: of like getting you the information, but it would be
- 44:43Speaker 3: nice to see because it's you know, it's part of
- 44:45Speaker 3: the experience. Right you go to London, it's like right
- 44:47Speaker 3: in your face, super clear. This year, it's awesome this
- 44:50Speaker 3: year there, they did a really good job on that.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's like going to Yankee Stadium of the
- 44:55Speaker 2: OHL when you go to Lot and it's something for sure. Uh. Well,
- 45:00Speaker 2: arena topics, there's two big ones. Cornwall as we've all heard,
- 45:05Speaker 2: and also Chatham recently. What's your thoughts on that process
- 45:10Speaker 2: and how close do you think we are to an
- 45:12Speaker 2: expansion is it? Brampton? Obviously Brampton when to play in
- 45:16Speaker 2: the exhibition game there due to the fact when you
- 45:19Speaker 2: look at the OHL's attendance percentage, they are the lowest,
- 45:22Speaker 2: so you would probably give them the chance to play
- 45:24Speaker 2: there first off. But what do you see in that?
- 45:28Speaker 2: Do you see this coming in?
- 45:31Speaker 3: I see expansion coming in. I mean I remember when
- 45:34Speaker 3: Brian Crawford took over. I interviewed him in the first
- 45:36Speaker 3: week he was on the job, and he made it
- 45:39Speaker 3: clear that his mandate is to expand this league. It's
- 45:43Speaker 3: going to happen. I've heard a lot of these cities
- 45:47Speaker 3: come and go for years, and I don't want to
- 45:51Speaker 3: ruin anyone's dream, and I hope they go to as
- 45:54Speaker 3: many as they can, because if one sound can have
- 45:56Speaker 3: a team with its population. Why can't Cornwall, Chatham or
- 45:59Speaker 3: other places in thunder Bay. You know, I heard some
- 46:03Speaker 3: places in the States. Burlington was a hot spot for
- 46:06Speaker 3: a long time with the you know, there's there's plans
- 46:09Speaker 3: to build a rink there, so it's coming. I just
- 46:13Speaker 3: you know, I don't know who are they, Where are
- 46:15Speaker 3: all these where they're all going to go? And like
- 46:17Speaker 3: I said, you can hear. I know when I talked
- 46:19Speaker 3: to Brian Crawford, he said the GTA was was a
- 46:21Speaker 3: priority for them, and I know teams don't work well there,
- 46:24Speaker 3: but I got to believe that there's a market there
- 46:26Speaker 3: that can work. It's just about finding identifying it, finding
- 46:29Speaker 3: and have the right facility. But some you know, there's
- 46:32Speaker 3: too many people and too many players who come out
- 46:35Speaker 3: of the GTHL that dominate this league to not have
- 46:38Speaker 3: a team that will work there, right, So it's just
- 46:41Speaker 3: about finding that right market. So you know, maybe Vaughan said,
- 46:43Speaker 3: I don't know, that was one of the rumors lately,
- 46:45Speaker 3: and I'm very intrigued. Yeah, I mean, it's not hasn't
- 46:51Speaker 3: worked in Mississauga. You know, I go to Brampton and
- 46:54Speaker 3: I go once a year because they only play the
- 46:55Speaker 3: Rangers twice a home and home and like the rink
- 46:58Speaker 3: I think has had some mark side of the rank.
- 47:00Speaker 3: It looks like the same place when it was the
- 47:02Speaker 3: Brampton Battalion, like the Beast and there's nobody there.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I mean, you got to be able to get transit.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and the people on the team, the guys on
- 47:12Speaker 3: the team, like they all talk to talk about the
- 47:13Speaker 3: fans are great. I'm like, come on, man, like one year,
- 47:16Speaker 3: I just want someone to say like, Hey, I've played
- 47:18Speaker 3: in this rink and this is the sucks. Like you
- 47:21Speaker 3: know that the organization might be great, the way they
- 47:23Speaker 3: treat the players might be great, but the fans sport's
- 47:25Speaker 3: not there.
- 47:26Speaker 2: And that's kind of what gets the ball moving when
- 47:29Speaker 2: you see players speak like that. I mean, obviously it's
- 47:31Speaker 2: not the National Hockey and that's the beauty the OHL,
- 47:33Speaker 2: but at any time, and there's a lot more money
- 47:35Speaker 2: in the NHL, but anytime you see something that gets
- 47:37Speaker 2: the ball moving, it's always a player. It's always players
- 47:39Speaker 2: that get the ball moving behind the scenes with things
- 47:44Speaker 2: like that as well in the national hockey level. But yeah,
- 47:46Speaker 2: I just think that the Vaughnt really intrigues me because
- 47:50Speaker 2: if you're Vaughn and you're going to have this financial
- 47:54Speaker 2: commitment if you're the Ohl, It's hard not to be
- 47:57Speaker 2: excited about that in my opinion. Yeah.
- 48:00Speaker 3: No, And there's also those a couple of couple of
- 48:02Speaker 3: teams in the States there they were talking a while
- 48:05Speaker 3: back of the from the US job and Graver really
- 48:07Speaker 3: hurt anything on that in a while. Yeah, you know,
- 48:11Speaker 3: so that's in the background too. I mean, you have
- 48:12Speaker 3: maybe you have a US division, and then also if
- 48:14Speaker 3: you start getting teams, you know in Michigan and further away,
- 48:18Speaker 3: all of a sudden, your pool where you can draft
- 48:20Speaker 3: players grows as well, which I think is something people
- 48:23Speaker 3: don't think about too often. You know, every league wants
- 48:26Speaker 3: the stars, and if you can start all of a
- 48:28Speaker 3: sudden expand your territory where you can draft them, you know,
- 48:31Speaker 3: there's a better chance to come to your league, and
- 48:33Speaker 3: then you sell more tickets and generate more hype about
- 48:35Speaker 3: about your league as well.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Absolutely, and with Josh brown Waterloo Record, we finally get
- 48:40Speaker 2: them on the show, our global ambassador, the Ohl and
- 48:42Speaker 2: sixty Podcast. Appreciate all the shout outs and Brownie's points.
- 48:46Speaker 2: If you were and we're on the topic, if you
- 48:48Speaker 2: were Brian Crawford, you were commissioner for one day, what
- 48:51Speaker 2: would be the number one thing you would do? Is
- 48:53Speaker 2: it fix the schedule online? Because that's a hot topic
- 48:56Speaker 2: for media. But what would you do if you are
- 48:59Speaker 2: the OHL commiss for one day? What's that one thing
- 49:01Speaker 2: you're putting in?
- 49:03Speaker 3: Well, one of the ones I had trumpeted for a
- 49:05Speaker 3: long time was getting the returning the draft to a
- 49:07Speaker 3: live draft, and they're doing that this year and I'm
- 49:10Speaker 3: hoping they could get to Kingston. So I think that's
- 49:12Speaker 3: really cool and uh, you know, hat tip to them
- 49:15Speaker 3: for trying something new. Well they did it before, it's
- 49:19Speaker 3: just been a long time since they did I think
- 49:21Speaker 3: about twenty years or so, so I think that's really cool.
- 49:24Speaker 3: So the next one that I that was always kind
- 49:26Speaker 3: of my bonus contention with the league that you know,
- 49:28Speaker 3: why not go to a live draft because I thought,
- 49:31Speaker 3: what it is, Let's be honest, if you're not a
- 49:34Speaker 3: top two, one, two, three round pick, you're probably not
- 49:38Speaker 3: even playing in the HL. Like those other guys from
- 49:40Speaker 3: late rounds are few and far between. So that's so
- 49:42Speaker 3: the draft is the day for a lot of kids.
- 49:44Speaker 3: That's it's as far as it ever goes. Why not
- 49:47Speaker 3: make it something awesome where they could walk up and
- 49:48Speaker 3: throw jersey on and just feel, you know, all those
- 49:51Speaker 3: years of driving the games and their parents taking them
- 49:54Speaker 3: and busting their butts. So that's awesome. I love that
- 49:57Speaker 3: they're doing that this year. So the other one that
- 49:58Speaker 3: that's always bothered me is I just think the days
- 50:01Speaker 3: of territory you're done. People don't consider themselves Western Ontario
- 50:07Speaker 3: and Eastern Antonio anymore like some people in life street
- 50:10Speaker 3: but in hockey they don't care.
- 50:12Speaker 2: It's this one want one.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Does anyone in Branford feel like they're in Eastern Ontario?
- 50:18Speaker 3: One person in Branford, you know.
- 50:19Speaker 2: What I mean?
- 50:20Speaker 3: It doesn't make any sense. So my whole thing is like,
- 50:23Speaker 3: if the Premier League can do it, the OHL can
- 50:25Speaker 3: do it. One to twenty one conference, no, no conferences,
- 50:29Speaker 3: just one league. Top sixteen teams make the playoffs every year.
- 50:33Speaker 3: One play sixteen, two place fifteen because at the end
- 50:36Speaker 3: of the day, you want the best two teams in
- 50:38Speaker 3: the final. And how many years have we seen where
- 50:39Speaker 3: the conference final has been better than better than the final?
- 50:43Speaker 3: And that's unfair for programs that course, some this is
- 50:46Speaker 3: jobs on the line here, you know, like people can
- 50:48Speaker 3: croft these teams who gates you know, the money they
- 50:52Speaker 3: make and another round can like make not make or break?
- 50:57Speaker 3: Can you know, pay a lot of bills and you
- 50:59Speaker 3: know kickstart, kickstart a renovation, you know, like all sorts
- 51:03Speaker 3: of things. So I want to see the best two
- 51:05Speaker 3: teams in the final. And why wouldn't the HL Like,
- 51:07Speaker 3: why wouldn't you want to see the best players playing
- 51:09Speaker 3: the best players because then it gets the most attention
- 51:11Speaker 3: and the stars play the longest. So I want to
- 51:14Speaker 3: see them get get rid of all this stuff. Just
- 51:16Speaker 3: go one Division one to twenty top sixteen in the
- 51:18Speaker 3: playoffs and and if you can balance the schedule a
- 51:21Speaker 3: little bit more too, because I in that case you'd
- 51:23Speaker 3: have to. And there's so many models. Well there's so
- 51:26Speaker 3: many models where you could do. Yeah, I mean I
- 51:28Speaker 3: think you know, like all those years said teams in
- 51:30Speaker 3: these Sam McDavid once and if he was away with
- 51:33Speaker 3: the World Juniors, you know, or sick, then they never
- 51:36Speaker 3: saw them, right. And it's the same thing. I mean
- 51:38Speaker 3: a couple of years ago, Oshwall was great and we
- 51:40Speaker 3: saw them once in kitchen and it was and we
- 51:42Speaker 3: like get to see Branford once like this is this
- 51:45Speaker 3: is a natural rivalry Like this, I think by as
- 51:47Speaker 3: the crow flies, you know, the Civic Center and the
- 51:50Speaker 3: Odd are the closest rinks. Like to the Odd that's
- 51:53Speaker 3: their closest rink. I think it's actually close and then
- 51:55Speaker 3: go off by klombers that have to check it out.
- 51:56Speaker 3: But it's close.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:58Speaker 3: So it's like and they say play them home and home,
- 52:00Speaker 3: you know, and we still haven't seen those two teams
- 52:02Speaker 3: play with their new rosters. So you know, maybe if
- 52:04Speaker 3: they make the Jamie Tea Cup, we can we'll see
- 52:06Speaker 3: it up in the playoffs. Oh yeah, but that's what
- 52:09Speaker 3: I do. Yeah, get get rid of the get rid
- 52:11Speaker 3: of the divisions, and get and make more balance schedules.
- 52:14Speaker 3: But that would be and I wouldn't be surprised if
- 52:16Speaker 3: that that they're thinking of that, because it just makes
- 52:18Speaker 3: way too much sense.
- 52:19Speaker 2: If you're gonna expand to Chatham and you're gonna expand
- 52:22Speaker 2: to Cornwall, it doesn't fix the divisions at all. This
- 52:25Speaker 2: adds more difficulty to the decision because I agree with you.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Just let's go one verse sixteen travels travel. For sure,
- 52:32Speaker 2: you might get a first round matchup, but we did
- 52:34Speaker 2: the math over right around Christmas break in. The playoff
- 52:38Speaker 2: format of one verse sixteen was actually pretty good for travelers,
- 52:41Speaker 2: only one or two matchups that were different throughout the year.
- 52:44Speaker 2: I like the idea. I also added throughout the week
- 52:46Speaker 2: I've I've been adding watching overtime games. I missed when
- 52:50Speaker 2: overtime was like the World Cup of Hockey when they
- 52:53Speaker 2: get Team North America, when they had that three on
- 52:56Speaker 2: three with Sweden, that electric three on three overtime. I
- 52:59Speaker 2: wish they got rid of you can't go back behind center.
- 53:02Speaker 2: I wish once you once you're the puck carry and
- 53:04Speaker 2: you get across center. Obviously, I don't think that's gonna happen,
- 53:07Speaker 2: but it would be so thrilling for three on three
- 53:09Speaker 2: overtime to see, Okay, you can't go back and get
- 53:12Speaker 2: the change, you gotta stay across the you can't go
- 53:14Speaker 2: across center. Or maybe it's it'd be fun the overtimes
- 53:19Speaker 2: that three minutes ago, there's no there's no possession for
- 53:22Speaker 2: the one team.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'm OLTI cool. I just like the
- 53:26Speaker 3: five on five anyway. I just I don't like all
- 53:29Speaker 3: this kimmicky stuff, but you know, the fans do so
- 53:32Speaker 3: you know, yeah, yeah, people people seem to like it, So.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I know for sure, And you gotta ask you
- 53:38Speaker 2: a few more questions. Chare we'll get back to the Rangers.
- 53:41Speaker 2: There was a Obviously it's a big topic in the
- 53:44Speaker 2: OA Challenge. Generally you see the key with the fighting,
- 53:46Speaker 2: a scary scene, a scene you do not want to
- 53:48Speaker 2: see in the Ontario Hockey League. Kayden Schnyder rowing top
- 53:54Speaker 2: Sunday Evening that that's unfortunate the fight. First off, what's
- 54:00Speaker 2: Cadens status? Because that's first off the main priority here.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Hopefully he's okay. It did not look good when he
- 54:05Speaker 2: got up there. Two, does it change the stance on
- 54:08Speaker 2: fighting in the OHL when you see an instant incident
- 54:10Speaker 2: like that in person?
- 54:13Speaker 3: So I was waiting in the after the game and
- 54:16Speaker 3: gell If I go down to do my postgame interviews,
- 54:18Speaker 3: cut through the hallway by the storm dressing room, and
- 54:20Speaker 3: then I go through the double door into the visitors
- 54:23Speaker 3: wait in the hallway and usually one of the staff
- 54:26Speaker 3: members comes out and says, you know, who do you
- 54:28Speaker 3: guys want? And we just say this player the coach
- 54:30Speaker 3: every game and then a couple of players to talk
- 54:32Speaker 3: to and I just heard like rock concert cheering coming
- 54:37Speaker 3: from the dressing room, like this eruption of applause. So
- 54:41Speaker 3: I just turned to Josh Pearcy, who's the color guy
- 54:43Speaker 3: on the for the Rangers of the Radio and does
- 54:45Speaker 3: postgame interviews with me after the after each game, and said,
- 54:49Speaker 3: eventually they just gave Kaden Schneider Player of the Game
- 54:51Speaker 3: because like it was way too happy for it was
- 54:54Speaker 3: you know, then it was a gong show ending and
- 54:56Speaker 3: it was just like, let's just get out of here.
- 54:58Speaker 3: So yeah, So sure enough when they came out and
- 55:00Speaker 3: I asked, you see and he just nodded yes. So
- 55:03Speaker 3: they gave him Player of the Game for so so
- 55:05Speaker 3: he's doing okay, which is a long way to answer
- 55:07Speaker 3: your question, enough that they felt that they could cheer
- 55:10Speaker 3: him on and kind of, you know, give him the
- 55:13Speaker 3: roused him a bit for for for taking it for
- 55:15Speaker 3: the team. So the player happened. I didn't. I didn't
- 55:18Speaker 3: see a replay of the hit, but it looked like
- 55:19Speaker 3: a clean hit from gwelf. But you know how guys are,
- 55:22Speaker 3: They see it one way and they think the guy
- 55:24Speaker 3: got Yeah, they think a guy got run. So that's
- 55:27Speaker 3: what I didn't He thought, yeah, it was Edwards. I
- 55:30Speaker 3: think Dylan Edwards who took a hit and from top
- 55:33Speaker 3: Schneider thought that it was you know, he had to
- 55:35Speaker 3: stick up for his teammate. Jumped in, was doing fine,
- 55:37Speaker 3: his helmet fell off, It didn't I don't think it
- 55:39Speaker 3: got knocked off. But then he got rocked and he
- 55:42Speaker 3: got up and I think he was trying to skate
- 55:43Speaker 3: towards the gulf bench like he didn't know. They had
- 55:46Speaker 3: to hold his arms and skate him off. Very scary stuff.
- 55:49Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if he has a concussion, but
- 55:51Speaker 3: he is a bubble guy anyway for this team, so
- 55:55Speaker 3: chances are he probably wasn't gonna play the next game anyway,
- 56:00Speaker 3: not that that makes it anymore, but I mean I
- 56:03Speaker 3: think you like, he was probably gonna get some rest anyways.
- 56:06Speaker 3: My point which is probably needed after that hit, because yeah,
- 56:08Speaker 3: it looked like a boxing an m M, A kind
- 56:11Speaker 3: of you know sweet spot right here caught And I
- 56:14Speaker 3: only saw one worse and that was when arbor Jack
- 56:16Speaker 3: guy knocked out Woolley from Owen Sound at Centeries Cold
- 56:21Speaker 3: and it was, yeah, it was it was. It was
- 56:24Speaker 3: a nasty so you know, you don't like to see that,
- 56:26Speaker 3: and it makes me think too. Yeah, Like I think
- 56:28Speaker 3: someone said to me, like either let them go or
- 56:31Speaker 3: get rid of it all together. And yeah, I don't know.
- 56:35Speaker 3: I don't you know, I could take it or leave it.
- 56:37Speaker 3: To be honest, I'm not a defender of fighting. I'm not,
- 56:39Speaker 3: and I don't think I'm not a big like you know,
- 56:42Speaker 3: let's have to get it out of the game guy.
- 56:44Speaker 2: Either.
- 56:44Speaker 3: I don't. Personally, I don't really care. Like I'm there
- 56:47Speaker 3: to watch the hockey, I don't. I watched the fights
- 56:50Speaker 3: like I think most people do. It's hard not to.
- 56:53Speaker 3: But if they weren't there and they have diminished, I mean,
- 56:55Speaker 3: I can't remember when there were guys in the league
- 56:57Speaker 3: in my early years who were getting over to and
- 57:00Speaker 3: how any man's a season. Those days are gone. Man,
- 57:02Speaker 3: A guy getting a hundred now.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Is a big deal unless.
- 57:07Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, right.
- 57:08Speaker 2: So you know, the league's, to.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Their credit, has done a lot to curb things. You know,
- 57:13Speaker 3: like these penalties are keeping the tough guys out and
- 57:16Speaker 3: the suspensions and that for you know, exceeding the threshold.
- 57:19Speaker 3: It's like it's it's doing it's it's reducing it. It's
- 57:22Speaker 3: not getting rid of it. But yeah, it's tough to
- 57:23Speaker 3: see because, like I know, Kaiden couldn't be a nicer
- 57:25Speaker 3: guy and everyone always says that, but like this to
- 57:28Speaker 3: show you. Like so, he was on the team last year,
- 57:30Speaker 3: got sent down to junior being Cambridge. I had met
- 57:33Speaker 3: him once in Kitchener before he got sent down. I
- 57:35Speaker 3: had to go do a story on somebody else on
- 57:36Speaker 3: the RedHawks. I forget what the story was now. I
- 57:39Speaker 3: think it was, Oh, they had a goalie from Germany
- 57:41Speaker 3: who was who went to the UH I think he
- 57:44Speaker 3: was like a third goalie at the World Cup or something. Anyways,
- 57:47Speaker 3: I went to talk to this German goalie. He sees me,
- 57:50Speaker 3: comes over, Hey, Josh, how's it going? You know, like
- 57:52Speaker 3: those my name, you know, isn't a lot of reporters.
- 57:55Speaker 3: A lot of players don't really talk to reporter, at
- 57:58Speaker 3: least from my experience. Like and I to keep my
- 58:00Speaker 3: distance because I let them be kids, and I don't
- 58:03Speaker 3: like to be in all their business. Some other people, yeah,
- 58:06Speaker 3: some other people are you know, fist pump and you know,
- 58:09Speaker 3: and hug guys, and I just that's not that's not
- 58:12Speaker 3: my style. I do my interview and get out that's
- 58:16Speaker 3: what I try to do anyways, for him to just
- 58:18Speaker 3: you know, recognize me and have the confidence to come
- 58:20Speaker 3: over and go, hey, how's everything going up in Kitchener
- 58:22Speaker 3: are you know? And uh so so yeah he you know,
- 58:25Speaker 3: really cool kid. So I hate to see this kind
- 58:28Speaker 3: of thing happened to him, but you know, you know,
- 58:31Speaker 3: hopefully it's okay and he all words is that he is,
- 58:34Speaker 3: but yeah, it's uh, it was. I don't think he
- 58:38Speaker 3: like people and golf weren't even cheering for the fight
- 58:39Speaker 3: when they saw that, right, Like they were like this guy, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 58:45Speaker 3: tough one, no for sure.
- 58:47Speaker 2: And the human aspect creeps in right And I think
- 58:50Speaker 2: that's the thing that people, as we talked about earlier,
- 58:52Speaker 2: the human aspect in the OHL is bigger than what
- 58:54Speaker 2: people realize. I think for most fans that could see
- 58:56Speaker 2: in the league, it's a it's everything. I mean, there's
- 58:59Speaker 2: a lot to get people in our league that's great
- 59:01Speaker 2: to chat with. But two more for you, Josh, It's
- 59:05Speaker 2: been a fun time. It's I've really.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Enjoyed conversation with you.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Finally in the making Josh Brown beat writer Kitchen Rangers,
- 59:12Speaker 2: Waterloo Region record where you can get them on social
- 59:16Speaker 2: media at Brown, the at Brown Record on X great follow.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Ranger fans obviously are already following your Ohl fans. You
- 59:24Speaker 2: got to make the follow at Brown Record, great follow,
- 59:27Speaker 2: Brownie points post game, incredible OHL content as well on that.
- 59:31Speaker 2: But what is your bold take? Your bold take for
- 59:35Speaker 2: how you see this year ending?
- 59:37Speaker 3: Is it?
- 59:38Speaker 2: Is it potentially a champion that we don't know of?
- 59:41Speaker 7: Is it.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Scoring leader?
- 59:43Speaker 1: What is it?
- 59:44Speaker 2: Is it not getting a hundred point I don't think
- 59:46Speaker 2: that's really a bold one now anymore. But do we
- 59:48Speaker 2: get a hundred point scorer this year? But what's your
- 59:50Speaker 2: big point, your Brownie point, your one point for this
- 59:54Speaker 2: for this year in the OHL?
- 59:56Speaker 3: Well, you know what, this is terrible? Well there's three
- 59:59Speaker 3: games lost.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Its.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: I have a hard time to make bold takes because
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: we already ending up. Yeah, you know what, Like I
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: don't I don't know, man, I don't really have I
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: hate to disappoint it, Like I'm kind of the opposite.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: Like I've just been on Branford since day one. I
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: just don't see any team and people are saying Kitchener, kitchener.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: You know, they're doing a lot better, But I still
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: feel like Branford can't be touched. I don't know they are.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I think I think Jamie Key is gonna win Coach
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: of the Year. I think they're gonna win the Ohl Championship.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: And is it I don't know. You think he's overdue,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: to be honest.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: It's bold, it's bold for the impact. Yeah, Jay has
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: never won a Coach of the Year, which is amazing.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: That amazes me that he has not won a Coach
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: of the Year. Yeah.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: I think part of the problem is is that the
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: coaches of good teams, you know, they're like, well, of
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: course they're got a lot of the success, Like look
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: at the team they have. Yeah, but I thought I
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: thought that Dale Hunter should have got more more consideration
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: last year, Like it's hard to manage all those good
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: players who think they should be on the top line
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: or the top defensive pearing or in Branford's case, a
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: starting goalie. You know, like they've got two guys I'm
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: sure who would want to play seventy percent of the
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: games there at least, right, So I thought he should
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: have won. I thought he should. It was two years ago.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Maybe that that anyways, Jamie I think he should I
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: think he deserves that. He's coached a lot of good
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: teams in this league, and sometimes you just got to
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: recognize consistency at some point, and you know they're gonna
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: they're gonna clinch. I think I'm trying to think they
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: haven't clinched yet, but one point away. So all signs
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: are pointing to the Dogs dominating. What's your hot take,
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna ask you if you're bold.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: I think I honestly right now, I think my big
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: one is I think they're angels to the team to be.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: It's funny how we're flip flopping here and for fans
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: that are just that are saying that are listening to
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: the show right now, and they're saying, oh, it's just
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: a thing. Well, I've talked with you this, with you
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: about this for a while now. It feels like when
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: I saw you at the autumn a month ago and
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: I said, I like how the Rangers look like, it's
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: funny that you go about the Bulldogs. And I'm gonna say,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: I think the Ottawa sixty seven's are a team to watch,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: and I think they are a tougher out in the postseason,
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: especially early on rounds than the Barry Colts are. I
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: think Barry is a strong team, but something about Ottawa.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: Can federof stay at that level for a long time,
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: that's the hard part in the postseason. But if he can,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: I think the Ottawa sixty sevens are a tougher out
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: in the Barry Colts. That's kind of my bold take.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: In the East, I thought the Ottawa's feel like they've
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: been kind of coming back down to earth lately big time.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: And that's why I think maybe it's maybe it's Jockey
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: and arrest them.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's funny you say that Aboutationer because I
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: guess I'm just more critical because I've seen them over
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: the years and been like hopeful and then disappointed that
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: the seasons haven't had long runs. I still think the
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: best is yet to come for these Rangers teams. Like
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: their second line Romano, you know, Shroll, like I said,
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: has no points in eight games like these. If these
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: guys get going, then maybe there's a different discussion there.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: But they just need some secondary scoring because he shut
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: down that top line right now. You know, I don't
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: know whether whose else is going to score, but the
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: good news is that they don't give up a lot,
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: so you you know, I think they get up five
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: balls twice in twenty six.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: So absolutely.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: I got a quick question. Okay, you go first, and
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: then no, no, no, no, no, no, go ahead.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: My last question for you was who's the Rangers m
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: VP this year?
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Samuel Ryley. He's gonna get my Red Tilson vote.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: We're in this together. There's two votes.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Yeah, there's Like I said, luck at my uh, week
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: of the playoffs will be a huge sixty inch feature
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: on O'Reilly kind of how he became the player he
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: is and how getting him was the top priority for
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: the Rangers when they decided that they were going to
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: go for it, and sort of people at all levels
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: of his life, including his parents, scouts, agent, coaches some
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: years gone by explaining, you know why they think he's
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: a special talent and it might go a long way
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: to backing up why we think he'll he should be
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: m v P absolutely my two year than Campbell. Yeah
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: well that yeah, yeah, he's got a bunch of guys
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: working for him, but yeah, things the head count the
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: great guy. Two questions for you. One Okay, now I
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: hope I have my information right, so if I don't know,
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: this will be embarrassing. But are you a good singer
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: like your sister?
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: No, I am not. I am not a good singer
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: like my sister. Wow, good question, good question. No I
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: am not.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: No, I am not a Canadian idol or something like that.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Or she won the Norfolk Cast Talent all right, Yeah,
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: shout out to my sister Danielle. Yeah she u yeah
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: she uh, she kills it. She's great.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I gotta get ah, gotta get a musician.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: For okay, Well, I was gonna say you get her
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: get her to sing the intro on your podcast here.
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: That'd be kind of cool, you know, guitar on drums,
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: BC on Cowboy and your sister singing some summer edition
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: would be cool. And lastly, I don't know if this
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: is right too, but did you have did you grow
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: up in a Rodney store?
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Yeah? My dad?
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so did you like the best hockey card collection ever?
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: Because I would be like opening them all day.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: I think my dream my hockey card collection was unbelievable.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: It's funny that you mentioned that, because around Christmas time,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: my dad gave me a whole load of cards that
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: he's had in the basement of his store for years.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Ninety three baseball. Oh yeah, and so the Blue Jays
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: World Series years and the football is pretty cool too.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Half the players I don't know. I know the Jays
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: players and like elite MLB players, but I wasn't born,
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: so I don't really know a lot of the players.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: I'm always asking, Hey, who's this guy? But yeah, no,
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: I've had binders full, Binder's full, because I honestly, I
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: really wasn't into like the food and the snacks. It's
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: funny joking with Bryan Smiley, who his dad also in
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: a store in Branford cold Dog and we always talk
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: about it growing up, and I said, honestly, like Brian's
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: at the same thing with like the snacks, I really think.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: But the sports things I remember. I I wish I
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: was young enough to be able to have the old
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: and I mean, do you have the bubble gum within
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: the cards that had been iconic? I think that would
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: have been pretty cool to have the bubble gum in
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: the baseball cards. I think that's pretty cool. That's one
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: of the best. But yeah, no, that was a Those
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: are good questions, Those are good questions.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: I got one bonus question for you here, did your
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: grandma crochet you baby stuff when you were little.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Couple. Couple O.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought I read that somewhere that she used
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: the crochet stuff for all the all the grand kids.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Yeah no, yeah, no, there's a couple. Uh yeah, no,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: I've got a few things, uh for sure put away back,
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: especially in the big city of La Yeah. I know, alright,
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: but no, that was awesome, Josh and the second what
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: wait then the second second? Josh on Waterloo Region Record.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Thanks for joining me, Josh, I really appreciate it. This
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: is a long time in the making at run Record

- 1:07:16Speaker 2: we got the power rankings and we go over a suspension.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: What is it a year? Eight games? Two games. We'll
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: touch on the baseball swings when we come back. We'll
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: see you on the other end.

- 1:08:52Speaker 2: I really appreciate it. Great great guest that's in the
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: all time Ohl and sixty podcast ball as one of
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: the greatest guests that that's been a thing that's had
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: to have been. It had to be, it had to happen,
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: it had to be an interview at one point Josh Brown.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Thanks as always Brownie's points. Incredible, incredible conversation. I hope
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: you guys enjoyed that as much as I did. Wealth
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: of knowledge and also personally a wealth of knowledge. Impressive work.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: That's reporting, that's reporting, that's having sources, that's going right
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: to the source. Great, great reporting on Josh Brown. His
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: showcases how good he is, how much he knows about us.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: To be interesting to see what he knows about Reees
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: next time when he comes back on. It'll be interesting
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: to see what he says to Reech because incredible, incredible conversation.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: I really enjoyed that with Josh Brown. Always great to
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: talk to Josh, by the way too in person at
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: the arenas. It's that. Maybe that's why selfishly I want
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: to see more Bulldogs in Rangers games, just so I
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: can chat with Josh Brown. Always learned a bunch Every
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: time I'm done talking to Josh, I've learned something about
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: the league. And I think that's the best compliment I
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: can give Josh Brown. I think the guy is an
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: incredible human being. I think he's a great reporter, and
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: I have post respect for Josh Brown. I know on
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: the network. Everybody does here as well, BC, I know Reese,
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: you guys as well have a lot of respect for
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Josh Brown. I think what he's done for so many
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: years is incredible and I'm very honored to be able
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: to have a conversation with him about his career, about
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: the Rangers, about the OHL. And we're speaking OHL because,
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: oh baby, do we have some baseball swings this year?
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Quinn Boshane will finally get to it. The London Night's
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: quall storm. They did battle this weekend. Brandon, you have
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: video another baseball swing. I know you have the picture
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: of him on the shoulder. There's been talks. Is the
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: blade of a stick hit the ear? That's head contact?
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: The intent to injure on this play looks really bad.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Looks really bad to the point where I thought when
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: the suspension happened, I thought for sure it was eight games.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: I thought for sure eight games. I don't think I
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: leave that stand, BC, and I want to know what
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: your thoughts is on it as well, But I still
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: don't leave the stand that should have been eight games.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: I believe that I know the ear. I know the
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: ear gets touched, and I know the base of the
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: stick hits the shoulder. I know that, But the intent
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: the retaliation of the play looks very bad. And when
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: we saw the Dusko, when we saw the McCallum suspension,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: this is an eight game suspension. In my opinion, I'm
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: kind of disappointed with the two I don't know about
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: what other fans are thinking. Maybe let us go on
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: social media. From the consensus on social media, I think
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: a lot of people are surprised it was two games.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go ahead and say we're agreeing on
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: that matter where I truly believe this should have been
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: an eight game suspension. You gotta stick to what the
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: standard's been. Believe it or not, there is a standard
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: because majority of the time it's been eight games for
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: something of that variety. I think in this situation, the
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: league might have gotten it wrong with just two games
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: because losing the regular season like this and games, yes,
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: they mean something for the Storm, but on the grand
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: team of things, they're in the postseason. I know playoff
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: seating is a thing, but are they really going to
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: lose a lot with losing them? Yes, but I believe
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: that I truly believe that the league missed this one
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: with just a two games suspension. BC. What's your thoughts
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: on the play?
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: Well, let's play the video for everybody and for you
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: listening in audio, you can hear the explanation from the
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: OHL's disciplinary staff there and we'll come back and react
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: to it.
- 1:12:25Speaker 8: On Friday, March thirteenth, in London, we had a slashing
- 1:12:28Speaker 8: incident that has led to the suspension of gwelf's Quinn Buschin.
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: A thorough video analysis conducted by the Department.
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: Of Player Safety has determined that this action was an inappropriate.
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: Use of the stick. Well, this was not a forceful slash.
- 1:12:41Speaker 8: It was directed to an area that could have resulted
- 1:12:44Speaker 8: in a serious injury. The force used to administer this
- 1:12:48Speaker 8: slash would not normally be considered worthy of a major penalty. However,
- 1:12:52Speaker 8: the location of where the slash was directed classifies.
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: This action as a suspendable offense.
- 1:12:59Speaker 8: The camera angle for behind the goal line displays that
- 1:13:01Speaker 8: this slash contacted the shoulder of an opponent that was falling.
- 1:13:06Speaker 8: As we watch the play develop, we can see the
- 1:13:08Speaker 8: two players engage when they are both standing upright and
- 1:13:12Speaker 8: willing to battle for space on the ice. At some
- 1:13:15Speaker 8: point during this initial confrontation, the London player experiences discomfort
- 1:13:19Speaker 8: in the area of his face. In response to this discomfort,
- 1:13:23Speaker 8: the London player uses his hand to cover his face
- 1:13:27Speaker 8: and begins to fall toward the ice. During this moment
- 1:13:30Speaker 8: of when the London player is falling to the ice,
- 1:13:33Speaker 8: the GWELF player makes the decision to use his stick
- 1:13:36Speaker 8: in a slashing motion. The stick contacts with the flat
- 1:13:40Speaker 8: portion of the blade on the shoulder pad of the
- 1:13:42Speaker 8: London player.
- 1:13:44Speaker 6: The GWELF player does not slide his hands together. However,
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: he does.
- 1:13:48Speaker 8: Execute a slash with movement of his hands and stick.
- 1:13:52Speaker 8: From his position and field the vision, the GWELF player
- 1:13:55Speaker 8: should be able to recognize that his opponent is falling
- 1:13:58Speaker 8: to the ice to the area of where the stick made.
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: Contact, not the force. Quinn Bushang will be suspended for
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: two games.
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: So there was the video that the OHL just posted
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: on websites.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Love love I love the videos. I think that's a
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: really cool process, how they're doing, how they're releasing the
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: reason why. I love that. I love the explanation. I
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: think that's all you ask for, you got, I got
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: my explanation. I can argue it, telling blue in the face,
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: I like I say, I can argue it all I want,
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: but that's hey, they made the verdict the two games.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: I would have gave them an eight, but two game
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: suspension is what it is. And I think that at
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: the end of the day, I don't know how much
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: you learned from the play. That's just my thoughts process
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: on that. But I really like that they do the explanation.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: That's all you ask for, that's all you asked for.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: The rulings in and there's not much else you can
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: do about it. Right, the call was made. They're not
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: gonna overturn it. So credit to the OHL. Credit to
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: the OHL, and then that's the new standard on that
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: on that type of play too, I guess. But we'll
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: get to another We'll get to another major box score here,
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: especially the third period, Sarnia saganaw a lot of quotes.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Do we have a bounty situation here? We heard about
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: that with h and that's not something you can say
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: lightly and I'm not saying that in light, but you
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: see the comments from their coach after the game and
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Sarnya about it's always the same thing with this classless organization.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: He said, they go after our sixteen year olds every night.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: At a certain point, if the refs can can't do
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: anything about it, we'll have to respond. That's Coach Turcott
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: and Sarnia.
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: There's another one coming, all right.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: That's that's a major quote. That is a major quote.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: P see, that's a major one as well. And then
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: here we go. Then they call a time out when
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: they are up by three on a five on three,
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Turcott said, coach the Sarnia's thing. It just kind of
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: shows how much class they have over all behind the bench. Woh.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: Then the Jilkin power play two man advantage when he
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: scored Spirit went forth for eight on the power play
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: that day, They basically score on the power play, go
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: after our sixteen year old's. Turcott said. They've got four
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: players who are literally the only players on that team
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: that do something. Wow, as long as I'm here, should
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: be fun games against them. One there's a fine coming
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: right there right then and there to the Sarnia Sting
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: for that threat. I bet you, I'll bet that that
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: does not happen. One. If that happens, the Sarnia Stinger
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: in the wrong. The Sarnia Stinger in the wrong, believe
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: it or not, because the Sarnia Sting are instigating it.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: You have to be an adult in a kid's league.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: We just spoke to Josh Brown about it. You got
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: to be an adult in a kid's league, and that's
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: not being an adult in the kids league. So one,
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: if I'm the Ohl, i am all over that common
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: You really want to do that? Eh, you really want
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: to do that, because if you do something, you're getting
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: the hammer. You are getting the hammer because that cannot
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: be in the league. That cannot be in the league.
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: You're always why do you referees, Well, sometimes why do
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: you Officials for the most part say don't retaliate? Because
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: a person retaliates gets the penalty. That's what the stinger
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: the wrong too. On the flip side, the saganaw Spirit
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: if this is the case, If this is the case,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: you were going after sixteen year olds, and there is
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: a few players on the Sagan Spirit who like to
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: play a little aggressive play on that line, if you're
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: going after a sixteen year old, come on, come on,
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: scouts see it. NHL scouts see it. You don't It's
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: hardest thing. Don't have to explain themselves about that NHL
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: scouts see what they're working with. If that's the case,
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: see you, we don't want you. That's how it goes.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: So there's a lot of emotion in the game, and
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: I'd love to see emotion in the game, and I
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: think it generates a lot of fun. But I think
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: it's a lot of traction for individual game like that.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: I know in the Sting and Spirit play again. I
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: think they play this week. Brandon, correct me if I'm wrong.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: I think they play this week. But if that's the case,
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: you can't know. You can't allow anything for the OHL
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: you have heavily invested. Another thing, if you're an official
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: in this game, you better be good. You better have
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: a veteran group of officials working this game, because if not,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: you're you're setting yourself up for failure. That's just my
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: thoughts on the process.
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: It's the last game of the regular season.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: Even worse man even worse, the Spirit won't do anything
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: because they're in a playoff spot. They shouldn't do anything. Okay,
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: they're already in a big enough hole in their first
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: round matchup.
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: Or sorry, excuse me, second last, I guess Saturday, that's
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: Saturday night at the Dow Event Center in Sagona.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Well, if I'm if I'm the OHL, I'm saying anyone
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: on Sagan of if you do something, you're getting a
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: five game suspension. That's that's the first half of the
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: first round. So you're back for game three or four,
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: back for game four of the first round, okay, and sure.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: Anything happens, they should be suspended for the start of
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: the next year's regular season, you know.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Absolutely, because now that you're putting a public like this,
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: now that you're putting it public like this, it's on
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: now big time, big time. And if you're if you're
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: the OHL and you're not proactive in this situation, I
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: think it looks really bad on the league. I don't
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: know about UBC, but I think it looks really bad
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: if the OHL let something happen. After what Turcott says,
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: the coach of the Scientist ding, after what's said there,
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: I think there's too much.
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: I don't well, I think they'll come down with a
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: hammer if anything happens in that game time they just
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: put them. They just put a microscope on themselves, so
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: big time.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: I truly believe that, and we're talking about it. I'm sure,
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: there's gonna be other places, other people talking about this
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: around the league, it's out on social media. I one
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: hundred percent truly think that this is something that is
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: not going to be a factor in a game. Because
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: if that's the case, what are we doing here? It's
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: an adult league. It's a adults that coach kids in
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: the league. You heard Josh Brown say it nailed it
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: right on the head, right, Adults gotta be adults in
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: a kid league. And I think that's one of the
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: major things that need to happen here, don't I don't
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: think anything should happen, and if it does, it looks
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: really bad on the team. But anyway, we'll get to
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: the players of the week, because oh it was a
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: big one in Ottawa this week, with two out of
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: the three in the OAHL aspect, Cooper Foster Ohl Player
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: of the Week, cojat co Player of the Week three
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: games played six points plus five two goals, four assists,
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: And like I said to Josh, kind of my bold feeling,
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: my bold take right. I feel like the Ottawa sixty
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: sevens and I know they're starting to not play as
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: good as they were and you can't stay at that
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: level for too long, but you give them a series
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: to gut it out and play gott he hot, play
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: gritty hockey. Cooper Foster's been around the league for a
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: long time now and he's one of those ringleaders. And
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: to see these guys get hot at the right time,
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Oh look out. But Cooper Foster player of the week,
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: goaltender of the week to quote Read Duffy, Big Save Dave,
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: David e Groff two and zero on the weekend, perfect
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: save percentage whole, perfect goals against, sixty six saves two games, played,
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: two shutouts in his two starts for Big Save Dave.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: Shout out to Read Duffy. Great working with reader Brandon.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: You know how great it is to communicate with Reid.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: Great call on big Save Dave and David e Groff
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: goalie of the week into the Bulldogs. We'll talk how
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: about it on the dodcast. But do they have a
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: goaltending controversy? I don't think so. But tuning in the
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: dogcast on the Bulldogs Audio Network if you want no more,
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: because that's an interesting development with David e Groff. He's
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: played some big ones for the Bulldogs this year. But
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: David e Groff Goaltender of the Week, Cooper Foster Player
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: of the Week, and Rookie of the Week. We go
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: back to the Nation's capital. Brandon, our guy, our goalie,
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: Ryder Federoff, the seventeen year old goaltender two games played,
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: two a record, zero point ninety eight goals against, nine
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: to seventy save percentage, one shutout, sixty five saves. In
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: doing so for Ryder federal Off, You're rookie of the month.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Great great outing out of Ryder federal Off. Great week,
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: great season, great month, whatever you want to do. Rider
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: Federof's been great this year. He's a treat to watch
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: any given night. And I'm so intrigued to see where
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: he can go in the in the NHL draft, because
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: I'm really intrigued to see where this guy goes. I
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: see a lot of I see a lot. I know
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: this is a major comparison. I see a little bit
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: lot of Jack Ivankovic, the ability, the system, the way
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: he moves around on the net, and Brandon, I know
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: you saw him on Sunday, the way they move around
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: on the net. It's kind of similar.
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: Not the biggest goalie in the world, nobody, just.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Athletic and then position. They're never at a position, and
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: it's very intriguing.
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: He's a Pittsburgh native, grew up watching Mark Andre Fleury, so.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and probably his biggest save was the one against
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: our Red Wings and Nickoltstroum. When can kids be too
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: young to see this? Is he too young to see this? Probably,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: so that's good.
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: I'm sure he highlight reels.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm sure. But no, the Pittsburgh Penguins and
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: Mark Andre Flair. I even looked at the Mark Andre.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: I remember wanting to get yellow goalie pads BC for
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: the longest time. I want to get the yellow goalie pads.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: You imagine the goalie in the deal in Dell highware
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: and yellow goalie pads.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: Speaking of Detroit, Todd Bertuzzi coaches this team.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: Yeah, the Cambridge RedHawks. Who what a segue? BC Prospect
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: of the Week, Riker Young, Kitchener Rangers prospect four points
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: in two games, two goals and two assis. I'm sure
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: this will be on Brownie's points. Riker Young Prospect of
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: the Week, Cambridge RedHawks, wood An Arena and Cambridge. What
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: a playoff run they're going to have? Coach by Todd
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: Bertuzzi as you mentioned. But there you have it. Your
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: players of the week, Your performers of the week, Riker Young,
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: prospect right Or feder Off, rookie goalie David Eageroff and
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: player Cooper Foster. You're players of the week for this
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: week's OHL and sixty edition of the podcast. Now let's
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: do it. The final the final point are power rankings,
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: and you know this has been a fun one this week.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: Shout out to Josh Brown, Waterloo Region Record. Where do
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: I put his kitchener Rangers? I should have asked him
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: about this to do us a power ranking. I should
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: have asked him because this is something that I know
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: this would have turned out. We still would have been
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: talking to Josh Brandon if I would ask this question,
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: because we both know this would have got not a debate,
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: but it would have been a great great spot. So
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: let's get to the power rankings. In this March sixteenth edition,
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: the Oshawa Generals go up one spot. They come on
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: to the board to number sixteen fifteen. They go up
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: one Shout out to Generals Live Updates, not Attack Live
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: updates correction to number fifteen, Neal and sound Attack BC.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: They go up one spot from six teen to fifteen.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: The Niagara Ice Dogs ooh, they gotta get things going.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: You want to talk about a team not performing going
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: to the postseason, the Niagara Ice Frauds. Nope Dogs, oh sorry,
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: number fourteen. On this week's edition of the Power Records,
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: they don't move, going down one spot. The Sudbury Wolves
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: they go down one to thirteen. From twelve to thirteen.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: The saganaw Spirit go up from thirteen to twelve. They
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: go up one. The London Knights drop four spots to
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: number eleven. The Kings and Front Necks go up one
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: spot from eleven to ten. The SIUs Saint Marie Greyhounds
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: go into from ten to nine, up one. The North
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: Bay Battalions stay the same in eight. The Peterborough Pets
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: go up to to number seven. The Windsors fift Fires
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: drop one. The Barry Colts drop two to five. Windsor
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: to sixth Sorry four up four, Ottawa up two to
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: number four, up two spots. The Flint Firebirds go up
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: one from four to three. The Kitchener Rangers stay the
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: same in two, and the Branford Bold stay in number one.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: One and two remain the same on the season. B
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: c Let's get to the power rankings for this week,
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: it's a big one. I am going to go in
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: my five spot. Brandon, the Ottawa sixty sevens. To me,
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: you look at their last ten, right, you look at
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: the streak that they're on. They have points in their
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: last nine games, six oh two and one in their
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: last nine. They have points in their last nine games.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: They're on a little bit of an underrated heater. So
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: to me, the Outawa sixty sevens are five for me,
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: four for me. The Flint Firebirds.
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: Also have also have reesees as well, and Reese has
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: autawat five as well.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: Right on, right on five for me, the Flint Firebirds
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: they have points in their last five. I just like
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: Flint that than Autowat. To be honest, I know I
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: had my prediction, but I'd also lean toward the West
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: than Branford. I kind of lead toward the West being
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: the stronger conference, to be honest. Right now, so I
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: have the Flint Firebirds at four. Brandon, Where's Resa, Where's
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: Resab at four?
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: Same thing? Flint Firebirds.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Wow, are we gonna be a carbon copy? Because number
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: three I don't think it's close. Yes, they had a loss,
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: but they flex their power and this probably could have
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: been worse if they didn't have that comeback against the
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Oshawa Generals. On Sunday evening, the Barry Colts are three
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: for me. Where does mister Domani have at number three?
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: The Barry Colts, Wow?
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: Number two? I think we both know it. The Kitchener Rangers, yep.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: And that one the Branford Bulldogs. Reese Dumani and I
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: have the same We have a tie. We have the
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: exact same power ranking this week. No arguments going into
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: the final week of the season. It should be a
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: fun one. There you have it, Reese and I both
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: Ottawa five, Flint for Barry three, Kitchener two, Branford one.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: That's the boys power ranking. That's recentized power rankings. Should
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: be a fun one as we head into the last
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: weekend of the ohl season. Last weekend of the OHL's
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: in Brandon, I just wanted to give one take before
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: I leave and before we call it a night, and
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: I think that this is something that I kind of
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: want to do and I want to know your opinion
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: on this as well, Brandon. What is the one take,
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: the one prediction that we see? Is it a playoff matchup?
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: We already we're already seeing some playoffs matchups. But what
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: is that play? What is that seating thing? What's gonna
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: happen in the seedings? Who's gonna play? Who is it
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Niagara staying in seven? What happens does Leaning get home ice?
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: What is that bold take that you think Brandon in
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: the last game of the season. Uh, I think I.
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: Think saganaw passes one sound for seventh.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: Who I like that?
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: I think so too. I think that's a good one too.
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: I agree with that. I also want to say, I
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: think Nikita Klapoff has an eight point weekend gets a
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: hundred points clip it. I believe one hundred perent it's
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: kind of meant to be. No, Like, it feels like
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: we're talking about Sarnia having this big bruit, this fight
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: of a game. How about beat them on the ice
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: clapoff if that's the case, clipoff explodes onto the scene
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: like you did David prospects game at Peterborough. How we
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: have at certain games four points, get four points in
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: another game. Get to have two two point games in
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: that last three that's doable.
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: I also really want North Bay because I think I've
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: been high on them as of late to get to
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: get the four seed, but they play weekend, so it's
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: gonna be really tough for them to be able to
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: gain those two points that they need over Peterborough.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: Well, you want to know who the battalion of the
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: biggest fans of the Branford Bulldogs on Wednesday against Nagga
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Ice talks because if the Branford Bulldogs win, they ain't
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: playing anybody Friday, so there's an opportunity. There's an opportunity
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: for sure for the UH for the North Bay Battalion.
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: But fun show, the fun show this week. This is
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: a fun one. I had a blast. It was great
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: chat with Josh Brown from the Waterloo Region record Brandon.
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: I know you're gonna cackle in the background there every
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: time hearing me pronounce that, just the amount of times
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: I've said that. But it was a great show and
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: BC as always, thank you for producing. Thanks for making
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: my face look better than what it is on YouTube.
