- 0:00Speaker 1: A fifty thirteen to ten Wiba Madison in the morning.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Just a couple of days away from the kickoff of
- 0:07Speaker 1: the Wisconsin State Fair, running August first through Sunday the eleventh.
- 0:12Speaker 1: More information available the website Wistatefair dot com. That's wistatefair
- 0:18Speaker 1: dot com. And joining us from the Wisconsin State Fair
- 0:21Speaker 1: is Christy. Chuckle, Christy, welcome back to the program. There's
- 0:24Speaker 1: an energy in the air right now, isn't there.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Thank you? Yes, I love that little intro. Just a
- 0:30Speaker 2: couple of days until we kick it off here.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's we'll get into some of the headliners,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and we'll also talk a little bit about of course,
- 0:36Speaker 1: can't talk to State Fair without talking about some of
- 0:38Speaker 1: the egg and some of the some of the presentations
- 0:40Speaker 1: going on. But first off, food, which is another, you know,
- 0:43Speaker 1: kind of the required conversation about about the State Fair
- 0:47Speaker 1: because we all love to sample some new things and
- 0:50Speaker 1: every year, something new, something big comes to the State Fair.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Couple of new and big things. You guys do the
- 0:56Speaker 1: sporkes each year, which the winners are going to I
- 0:59Speaker 1: think announced before we're opening day. I saw the drinkies
- 1:02Speaker 1: is drinkies? Is that something newer Have I just been
- 1:05Speaker 1: completely oblivious and so obsessed with the sporkies that I
- 1:07Speaker 1: completely overlooked the drink part of it.
- 1:11Speaker 2: You're completely oblivious.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It's two years old, okay.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So it was new last year. The sporkis were now
- 1:19Speaker 2: in the eleventh year, and it's been such a hit
- 1:21Speaker 2: that we thought we wanted to change it up a
- 1:23Speaker 2: little bit. Add the drinkies. So you've got eight Sporky
- 1:25Speaker 2: finlists and four drinkies and they're always just fun, non
- 1:30Speaker 2: alcoholic cocktails. Then you know, one of them has glitter
- 1:34Speaker 2: in it this year that's completely edible, lots of tropical flavors.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And then there's a pretty delicious sounding float, a coffee
- 1:42Speaker 2: float that's glazed doughnut flavored coffee with whip cream and
- 1:47Speaker 2: lots of fun things of course, and then a doughnut
- 1:49Speaker 2: on top. So that's just one of the drinkies entries.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Those sporkys entries are always kind of off the charts crazy,
- 1:55Speaker 2: so you'll have to take a look at all of
- 1:57Speaker 2: those zbistapier dot com. But we've got sweet and savory
- 2:02Speaker 2: and everything in between. And that's just those eight. There's
- 2:05Speaker 2: one hundred new foods and beverages total, so I think
- 2:07Speaker 2: you can definitely find one of those when you're here.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You mentioned something sweet and something savory. I saw hot
- 2:13Speaker 1: ham and glazers, which looks to cover both of those
- 2:16Speaker 1: as well.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeapless see a lot of them. Do The Sunday has
- 2:20Speaker 2: a waffle ice cream bake it Oh no sausage sausage
- 2:26Speaker 2: So yeah, lots of mix of sweet and savory breakfast
- 2:30Speaker 2: items all over the place when you look at those
- 2:34Speaker 2: new foods. So check it out online.
- 2:35Speaker 1: That's Wi Statefair dot com. That's Wi Statefair dot com.
- 2:40Speaker 1: You can check out the sporkies and drinkies there. Music,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and of course I remember many years ago a year
- 2:46Speaker 1: have been two thousand and two, maybe, I guess, said
- 2:49Speaker 1: Dwight Yoakam. You guys always get like big, like these
- 2:52Speaker 1: big big names. I know this year kicks off. You
- 2:55Speaker 1: guys got comedy, You've got TLC coming up on Friday,
- 2:58Speaker 1: Young Gravy on Saturday. Just a great and a little
- 3:00Speaker 1: bit of And this is something that always impresses me
- 3:02Speaker 1: about the Wisconsin State Fair. Your headliner stage, but also
- 3:05Speaker 1: we'll talk about some of the other stages, but your
- 3:07Speaker 1: headliner stage, you guys always have something for everyone, like
- 3:11Speaker 1: you seem to do a really good job of kind
- 3:13Speaker 1: of saying we've got a little something for just about
- 3:16Speaker 1: everybody out.
- 3:17Speaker 2: There, don't you we do. That is our first priority
- 3:22Speaker 2: really when it comes to booking a main stage, We
- 3:23Speaker 2: want to make sure that we have a nice diverse lineup.
- 3:26Speaker 2: We have two country shows this year that are both
- 3:29Speaker 2: really big Brothers Osbourne and then Riley Green's up and coming,
- 3:33Speaker 2: so excited about that. You mentioned the pretty much you
- 3:36Speaker 2: talked about the whole opening weekend. Then we have Charlie
- 3:39Speaker 2: Barron's Coming Back which will be a lot of fun
- 3:41Speaker 2: on Thursday, the second Thursday, and the Foreigner Farewell Tour,
- 3:45Speaker 2: which is one of our taps selling shows. So all
- 3:47Speaker 2: those concerts at our main stage still have tickets available.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Some are pretty limited at this point, but you can
- 3:54Speaker 2: go on wistatefair dot com get your tickets ahead of
- 3:57Speaker 2: time because they include your fair admission, and make sure
- 3:59Speaker 2: you're buying them from our website not from somewhere else.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Because we keep our ticket prices really reasonable. I mean,
- 4:04Speaker 2: our most expensive concert is you know, seventy dollars, which
- 4:08Speaker 2: concerts are getting very expensive you probably know, so it's
- 4:12Speaker 2: also a goal of ours to you know, keep those
- 4:14Speaker 2: prices as well as we can.
- 4:16Speaker 1: That's the other think that's too. That's great about the
- 4:17Speaker 1: Wisconsin State Fair. You mentioned of course part of your
- 4:20Speaker 1: part of your goal with the main stages is really
- 4:22Speaker 1: appealing having shows and bringing in shows that a little
- 4:26Speaker 1: something for everybody. Affordability is a big thing too with
- 4:29Speaker 1: the State Fair. Anybody you know, whether you're single and
- 4:32Speaker 1: is going out or if you've got kids in a family,
- 4:35Speaker 1: money doesn't go as far as it once did. But
- 4:37Speaker 1: the State Fair is still and I was surprised. I
- 4:40Speaker 1: was looking at parking. I think it's like, are you
- 4:42Speaker 1: guys seriously like it's a very affordable event. And I
- 4:47Speaker 1: don't know if that's part of the mission of the
- 4:48Speaker 1: State Fair or what, but I got to compliment you
- 4:51Speaker 1: guys on on how you guys do such great work
- 4:53Speaker 1: on not only having a great events, great acts, great food,
- 4:55Speaker 1: great everything, but at a at a good price point,
- 4:58Speaker 1: which is really really true to do these days.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Well, thank you. It is. It's a very I mean,
- 5:06Speaker 2: there's a top priority along with safety, of course, but yes,
- 5:10Speaker 2: it is part of our mission statement to keep it affordable.
- 5:12Speaker 2: We want families to be able to come in large
- 5:15Speaker 2: groups and just people of all ages. You know, we
- 5:17Speaker 2: have our eighteen dollar tickets at the gate, but we
- 5:19Speaker 2: have admission promotions as well, especially during the week where
- 5:22Speaker 2: you can get in for a discount. We do Veterans
- 5:25Speaker 2: and Military Day still on that first Sunday, where vetsa
- 5:27Speaker 2: military can get in free. We also have you know,
- 5:31Speaker 2: kids under five are always free or I'm sorry, five
- 5:33Speaker 2: and under are always free. So just lots of ways
- 5:36Speaker 2: to get a good deal. We do things with our
- 5:39Speaker 2: vendors as well. We have Crazy Grayson Day on Tuesday
- 5:42Speaker 2: where you have smaller portions for smaller prices and then
- 5:45Speaker 2: you can try more things. We also have the new
- 5:47Speaker 2: eleven dollars meals deal this year that a lot of
- 5:49Speaker 2: our vendors are doing again. You can trick all that
- 5:51Speaker 2: out on wistatepare dot com.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Should be a fantastic week ahead again kicking off on Thursday.
- 5:57Speaker 1: This Thursday, the first running through the eleventh. All the information,
- 6:01Speaker 1: as as Christy mentioned, of course available to you at
- 6:03Speaker 1: wistatefair dot com. That's wistatefair dot com. Before we wrap
- 6:09Speaker 1: this week, Christy, I think we go back to the
- 6:11Speaker 1: history of state fairs and county fairs. It is really
- 6:14Speaker 1: about egg livestock here in Wisconsin. No shortage of that stuff.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I'm going to be some great shows, great exhibits, and
- 6:20Speaker 1: our thanks for everyone, isn't there.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Absolutely I'm glad you brought that up. I mean, if anything,
- 6:26Speaker 2: just go through the barnes, walk through Discovery Barnyard, see
- 6:30Speaker 2: some of the animals. If you can catch a show
- 6:32Speaker 2: at the coliseum, that's great. They're shows in some of
- 6:34Speaker 2: the barnes as well. But we always have the Junior
- 6:36Speaker 2: Dairy Kiss here this first weekend, so we're looking forward
- 6:39Speaker 2: to that show, and we have draft horses and then
- 6:42Speaker 2: you know, we move into the beef cattle and the
- 6:45Speaker 2: livestock auction on Wednesday. So again, if you have time,
- 6:49Speaker 2: make some time for that. Wistatefair dot com. We have
- 6:52Speaker 2: all the agriculture schedules as well.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Should be a fantastic week plus of events. Ten days
- 6:58Speaker 1: of events going on against alid State Fair Park right
- 7:01Speaker 1: in West House, right off the interstate. As Christie mentioned,
- 7:04Speaker 1: the website Wistatefair dot com. That's Wistatefair dot com. Christy
- 7:08Speaker 1: will see you at the fair. You enjoy this upcoming week,
- 7:12Speaker 1: and yeah, I look forward to doing doing this all
- 7:14Speaker 1: again real soon.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Awesome. Thanks for having me.
- 7:17Speaker 1: News comes your way next right here at thirteen ten
