Nicodemus comes to Jesus by night because he doesn’t understand how it is possible to be born again. Here we have the theme of salvation and eternal life being introduced in the Gospel of John for the first time. Also, the cross is a place of reality and it is a place where God’s love confronts our sins. We need to get back to the reality that Jesus is active in the World today.
