- Alex: Jason Marcus, welcome. And everyone, welcome to Episode Scrambling Dads. apologize, I was not on Lasco, I felt terrible. I don't know what it was, but from like Sunday afternoon through when we were supposed to record or like whatever, I just felt like crap. That was solo. I felt hung over. I don't know what it was. I don't know if it was sleep deprivation. I don't know if the weekend caught up to us. We had we had a baseball tournament and a lacrosse tournament. We had seven games in two days, and they were nowhere close to each other. One was in downtown Marcus: You Alex: Dallas and the other was up here where we live. And and I'm rolling right into another week of tournament and solo dad. Casey is on a bachelorette trip. With one of her friends from high school. So Jason: I was wondering where she was. Alex: yeah, good for her, you know, honestly. She hasn't like left the house by herself since I think her last bachelorette trip that she went to. so she's gone. She's doing she's doing her thing down in Austin. and it just so happened that Trip got a lacrosse tournament schedule this weekend. She was so frustrated when she found out about that. But, you know, it's just part of life, unfortunately. I was like, don't. You don't need to change anything, it's fine. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: I I'll go to the games on Saturday. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: I'm I won't be here Sunday, so he's he's kind of on his own there. but but man, this week has been between that and then just the week I've had and we could talk work and all that fun stuff 'cause it's just been hell at work. And of course our AC went out again, so I had to call them, deal with them today here. and then Bella just decided I don't know what it was, but I don't know if it was a bug bite that got infected, but like she got essentially, I don't know, it it it's infected, right? And so we had to call the doctor, did a virtual visit today for that. So on top of what I hadn't texted y'all about what I Marcus: you Alex: had going on Jason: Yeah. Alex: because I got suckered into going to the school carnival. Because she's like, Dad, I wanna go. My friends are going. And I'm like, I don't wanna go because I have things to do tonight that aren't chasing you around a carnival all day. But I got suckered in because I don't say no to my daughter at all ever, which is a problem. And Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Yep. Is. Alex: I was like, We're gonna go for 30 minutes. She's like, Okay. We ended up being there for like an hour and a half. And then I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up her medicine. And they, of course, have They have the correct insurance for Grayson, but common sense on the same account would mean that the other child has a different insurance for some reason. So they they ring it up and they're like, Did you change your insurance? I'm like, no, we literally come here weekly and get medicine from our other kid. So I'm a little confused what's going on here. They're like, let me type his birthday in. yeah, it's a different insurance. Let's get that switched over. All right. Let's let's do that. How many how many circles do you want me to do in the drive-thru here? Because they kept being, is there someone behind you? Yeah. Can you just circle around and come back? Someone behind you? All right. So we did that. Marcus: Yeah Alex: Had to go get dinner. Anyways, I then had long story short-ish. I then had to be the lucky parent by myself that had to what's the right word? ex express the infection? Is that it? When like you have to drain the infection. The doctor the doctor is pretty much like, Jason: okay. Alex: look, like if you just get like a needle or something and poke the white spot, it'll create a hole that we can then push the infected pus out. I was like, cool, great. This sounds amazing. My wife is not here. Yes, yeah, my nurse wife. so Marcus: The nurse wife. Alex: I just had her, I just had Bella lay down and I was like, Babe, look, I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. it's gonna hurt because I know it's really tender. But the doctor told me to, if you can get through this, you can have candy. Like whatever candy you want, you can have. Mind you, she already had cotton candy at the frickin' carnival. So anyway, she she sat still and I mean I pushed a lot of plus out of that thing. It was kind of gross, but Marcus: Uggghh Alex: but we got there, we got it done. I got her to bed and we're here. So that has been my past four hours and it has been a nightmare. Love that girl. love that my wife is gone, but whew. I'm ready for sleep and I am far from it. Jason: So okay. I don't want to interrupt your story. incision. Alex: Incision, thank you. Well, I I there's like a there's a term like you Jason: Exp expel express, depending on how Alex: Expel Express expels the fluid? I yeah. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Pop that thing. Alex: Pop that thing. Jason: There's different ways. Drain and it's just incision and drainage. yeah. Blisters and all that stuff, yeah. Alex: Yeah. I'm I'm telling you, I don't know what happened. I I truly think it was just a bug bite that it's like right where her pull up band goes on the back side. So I don't know if like the pull up was rubbing it wrong and created some sort of I don't know. but yeah, Casey was like, I I think we need to take her to the doctor, and I'm like, No, like it's just an Jason: I paid. Alex: infected bug bite, like it'll it'll go away. But she was like, Alex, if you have to go to the hospital when I'm in Austin, I'm gonna be so mad. I was like, look, okay, fine, just freaking make an appointment. I will handle it tomorrow. I'm working from home. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: And she was like, she after the morning, she came over and was like, hey, I got a virtual. Like, luckily, we're pretty close with the doctor. It's Casey's childhood doctor from when she was a child, obviously. It's like we have a really long relationship and we pretty much lived there between Bella and Grayson. So she was like, Yeah, we'll just do a virtual. She looked at it and was like, Okay, I'm calling you in medicine. Here's an ointment and you need to get the fluid out. Okay. Jason: So was it like a pimple or was it more like blistery? Alex: I don't know. she's little she's five, so I'd be shocked if it's a pimple. my Jason: Well, I just mean the way it looked, how you felt it was infected. Alex: No, I don't know. It's just well, it's really red and warm, but then it was really hard. you could tell there was fluid just packed in there. Something Jason: Mm. Okay. Alex: was blocked. So I would I would equate it, and it's not possible for her because of the location of it and her age. I would equate it to like an ingrown hair that gets infected on a guy. Like, you know how like sometimes you'll get Marcus: yeah. Jason: Okay. Alex: those around your like your neckline where like your shirt will pull it and it'll just inf it'll like Get that in grown hair and infect it and it it Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: gets really hard. But once if you pull that hair, all that stuff just drains out Jason: Mm, yeah. Alex: naturally. It it's it was like that. that texture. Jason: you Marcus: You Jason: said it was hard i to me I'm just picturing like a cyst. it's like a cyst bulb hard fluid, but Alex: Yeah. Yeah, something. So I don't know it, but it we Jason: yeah. Alex: Wheatley's got it semi drained. And man, the girl seriously is a champ. Like I've had stuff like that before, and it is extremely like it does hurt to the touch. she sat there, she Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: cried, but she stayed perfectly still. she was she scares me sometimes with how tough she is. Marcus: Hmph. Jason: Gosh, that's crazy. So probably a sp good spider bite. Alex: And spot I mean, we were we were at the the ball fields and the lacrosse fields all weekend. Like it easily could have just been a bug bite from sitting down on the grass and something bit her and it just got worse. I don't know. It it could have been anything. All we know is it started like two days ago and it got worse yesterday and today it was I must say about the same, but it definitely had more of like a you could tell it needed to be drained. So it was Jason: How big was it? how would you equate the overall swelling? Alex: I drew a circle around because a doctor told me to draw a circle around the red spot today, Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: and it was probably a half inch di radius, so an inch ish, a little over an inch diameter. Jason: okay. Marcus: thing. Alex: The red red was probably a quarter inch radius. Marcus: Yeah, still pretty big. Yeah. Jason: Okay. That's a good little size. Alex: So it was d it was decent. So I'm hoping it's drained. And apologize to all the listeners about the gross talk. But yeah, it's drained. I'm hoping tomorrow she wakes up and like it's a lot less red and infected and might have to get some more fluid out tomorrow after everything settles. But I think we'll it looks like we're good. Marcus: Yeah, well kudos to you for making Casey. Yeah, Jason: Playing Doctor. Marcus: well making Casey take her time out of the house. Because I think it's not a, it's a, I would say it's a needed occurrence, at least in our Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: house. even, you know, I think Blake does that, you know, with her sister and sister-in-law. They just kind of go hang out for a weekend, you know, once every six months. And, you know, it's... It's good. It's good for the soul. Alex: It it really is. and we've talked about it. I'm a huge advocate of Casey like doing her thing. I mean, I think both of you know my life, you know how busy I am with all the all the media stuff plus my normal job plus the kids. So like I'm out of the house a lot and I'm doing or or we're all together, but we're doing stuff a lot. It's very rare that she's off doing her own thing, but she did text me and she was 'cause I joked. I sent a picture of, as you can see, this one here. Marcus: Mm. Alex: This I am her person. So she follows me around everywhere. But our dog, I'm the spare human. And I I he Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: was laying down r right about here earlier today, and I took a picture. I said, Hey, it took him about five minutes to Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: realize what his fate was this weekend, and he's he's made peace with the fact that he's with the spare human. And she texted me back and was like, I don't know the last time that I've slept in a bed without like another living being. And I I responded, I go, you It's it's fifty fifty. You may love it or you may absolutely hate it. Cause I know me when I travel, I don't sleep. Like I I'm not I don't have her next to me. My body's not settled. Like and even when I'm not traveling, like I won't sleep good tonight. Like I know it. I'm working on a video. I'm just gonna work until I literally fall asleep at my desk and then go to bed. Because like I'm if I go lay down in bed, I'm gonna sit there and stare at the ceiling. And she she laughed and she was like, Well, I don't know, I've never done it. So I think the novelty of it'll be nice. I was like, Look, when I was traveling for work, I could just tell you I work, work, work, work, work until literally I'm falling asleep, close Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: my computer, fall asleep, wake up three hours later and get back to like I just I think when you sleep next to someone for so long, you just don't sleep well without them. Jason: Nah, there's there's definitely truth to that. I was gonna make a joke. It's like you haven't been married long enough. There's moments where it's like I do it's like I do enjoy my solo bed at times. but part of that could be I'm comfortable with it be I was, you know, divorced single for three and a half years, so it just became nature. but I don't can't I can't go to sleep though without the TV on. I need to have it on, let it play. Then I'm all of a sudden zonked out. I wake up, it's still on. And so that's my comforting mechanism when I'm by myself. And then that at that point I'm so tired I can turn it off and then I'm I'm passed out. Alex: See, I was even after my divorce, I was not like that. Like I was still the I'll go to bed when I am extremely tired and pass out. Like I didn't have a TV in my bedroom. I had one TV in my house when I met Casey. Two. I had one in my office and one the living room. And like if I wasn't if I wasn't Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: tired, I stayed on the couch and I watched TV or I did something. And nights that I didn't have trip, obviously, like there's nothing holding me to the house. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: So I'd either go on a run with the dogs or I would go to the gym and work out, do whatever to where like it took up all my free time and when I got home and when I got to bed I went straight to bed and I was fine with Jason: Yeah, no, I definitely remember those I just call them lonely nights. Like especially early on when you have the kids and then all of a sudden you don't have them and then you're like, what do I do? okay, I'm bored. I can't I can't sit there on a couch for hours. So yeah, go outside, I'll go to the range at that time or go to the gym. And then, you know, like say said, wear yourself out so you can bypass the night and move on to the next day. Alex: The the hardest part was when you have the kids and you literally can't go anywhere and you're stuck. at that age, you you split when your Jason: Yeah. Marcus: You Alex: daughters were a little bit older. My trip was only one. So it's like he was going to bed at 7:30. From 7:30 Jason: Yeah, true. You were a little bit more locked in. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: to 12:30, it's like I have five hours and I can't Jason: Mm. Alex: go anywhere. I can't work out at the house. I didn't have a home gym or anything like that. okay, well, I don't know what I'm gonna do for the next five hours. Jason: Gosh, I remember back then I was still playing indoor soccer with Kyle. And there was a couple of games that we didn't start the game till like 9 30, 10. Alex: God, yeah. Jason: And Casey actually was still in high school and she came over, watched the kids, watched the girls, and then just it was really pretty much they're already in bed or about to be in bed by the time we left. So it was easy, but I had to play because I think. We were literally limited to the minimum number of players before we had to forfeit that Marcus: Hmm Jason: game. But yeah, after that I was just kinda like, I'm done with indoor soccer. I hate the late nights. This is getting ridiculous. Alex: Yeah, I can't do that anymore. I'll I'll stick to Jason: No, I'm done. Alex: I'll stick to golf. I will say tomorrow, so I I am kid free tomorrow because I am going to F one, which funny enough, Marcus is coming with me now because Casey can't come with me anymore. so happy birthday, Marcus. That was his birthday present from me. Marcus: Thank you. Alex: In fairness, like I had like I had I have a really good buddy that is into F1. So he was gonna go with me. But then they had to push his middle child's birthday party from last weekend to this weekend, and they had family photos on I think late Saturday. I don't know what it was. So he's like, dude, I can't go anymore. I was like, all right, fine, whatever. Like these are free tickets. My the owner of my company gave them to me. So like I'm like, cool, I'll find someone else. Casey's already in Austin. So I like, okay, why don't you just meet up and go? But then it was like, well, both of us are getting home really late. Bell has school the next day. The dog's gonna be locked up literally all day. So that doesn't seem to really make sense. And she doesn't really care for F one because I want to go watch. There's Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: five races going on. It's not just the F one race. There's there's a race at 10 and whatever. The actual F one race isn't until like three or four. And she was like, I don't know that I really care to just sit and watch racing all day. So okay, fine. So anyways, now Marcus is coming. So and Marcus: You Jason: Where's the race at? Alex: South Austin. It's that Dakota, circuit of the Americas. Jason: okay. Alex: So anyways, that's a long way of saying. I my Bella is staying at my mom's tomorrow night. So we're talking about all these lonely single nights. I'm by myself Jason: Yeah. Alex: tomorrow night because I'm I'm taking her up there after her soccer game. So I'll be back home by six or seven. And I'm like, I might just go to IGP and hit for a few hours tomorrow and waste my time. I I haven't Jason: there you go. Alex: I haven't swung a golf club in forever. I got a work scramble coming up. So it's like, well, what better time than to just go Marcus: Yeah. Alex: on a Saturday night and hit some balls? Marcus: Sounds like a bachelor weekend. Alex: I'm I'm gonna reward myself, I got I got two lacrosse games and a soccer game tomorrow that I have to get kids to and then get her up to my mom. So I'm gonna reward myself with grabbing a six pack and going and hitting balls. Marcus: Nice. Jason: Go for it. Alex: So that is that's what I got going. that is our lonely dad saga. I am tomorrow I gotta be up and out of the house at like eight in the morning. So we will see how Bella does on me having very little sleep. go watch a nine o'clock and eleven o'clock lacrosse and then get back to town for two o'clock soccer game. Marcus: So are you coaching her? Jason: That is a lot. Yeah, are you? Alex: Casey, Casey and I had that conversation. And she was like, Well, you could take the background. It's like a little training that you have to do. And I was like, No, I I'm not doing it. Not doing it. So Jason: yeah. Marcus: It's like, no, it's not gonna get sucked in. Alex: I have a feeling. Well, my thing was once I do it, I'm gonna get sucked into helping more than just this once. So Marcus: Yeah. Alex: I was like, I have a feeling I'm gonna end up jumping in and helping, because like What else do I have to do? Other than just filming the game and putting a highlight reel together to so that Casey can watch and everything? I don't have to do that. She didn't ask me to do it. I just do it because I can't sit still 'cause Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: I Jason: She's watching film to get ready for the next game. Alex: Yeah, exactly. no, it's just like I I like I like doing the reels and everything, so whatever I do it. but Jason: Mm. Alex: it's I don't know. So I'm I'm probably gonna end up having to help coach tomorrow, which is fine. It is what it is. Marcus: It's fun. I think it's fun. I've enjoyed it a lot more. Jason: Just don't go crazy and don't go yelling at Alex: Just wait until I coach and I get them actually running in proper positions and they're everyone's like, It's a coach thing. No, it wouldn't happen. They I won't care. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Yeah, I yeah, I I started making them run laps because they wouldn't listen this week just simple drill of a throw into your partner and go in like they would do if we were in basketball doing a straight chest pass I look at the kid. I was like, what are you doing? And he's like, just doing it and I went like this lap. He just took off They kept like I think another kid tried to do the same or he jumped and tried Jason: Mm. Marcus: to throw it in I was like Lap and then he came back. I was like, alright, let's throw it in and then they just all of a sudden they did it Perfect form. It's like I hate you guys like you guys know what to do Alex: Yeah, it's we it's funny you talk discipline, We were talking as the coaching staff for baseball yesterday, two days ago, and right now we're in rec, but we are taking the club. We're taking the team club. like we are creating, we talk about this. We are creating the club, we are gonna be the coaching staff. We are gonna have two offshoots of that that stay in rec and we'll like essentially field reserve teams so that because we're only gonna carry nine people on our actual tournament team because you can only play with nine and you have to bet every kid on your roster. So if you have 12 kids, that's less batters. You don't get to your good Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: batters as much. So our theory is we're only taking nine to a tournament, but we need to have two to three in reserves ready to go. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: Anyways, in that whole conversation, I was like, well, at what point do we start focusing on discipline? Because I had to do player portraits an hour before this conversation, and they don't listen. I can tell them, these Marcus: Yeah, they don't. Alex: are 10-year-olds, I can tell them to do this A, B, C, D, and they do D B C A. it's like, what the hell are y'all thinking? And it's the same in it's the same in baseball. Marcus: Yeah. mine do one, two, three. Alex: I live in in practice, we're doing whatever, live drills, right? I have a guy on second and a guy on first. And I know the coach is about to hit it to third base because we've talked about this. So I'm telling our second guy on second, Landon, don't run into the out. There's only one out if the ball's on the ground and the ball's in front of you, don't run into it. Like just let them get the fielder's choice out at first. We live to hit another day. You're on, you're still on second. You're probably gonna score. Anyways, Landon. Don't run into the out. Landon, don't run into the out. Right? Ball comes, runs into the out. Coach is like, coach, you gotta talk to him. You gotta tell him not to run into the out. I was like, Marcus: You think I'm just I'm just talking for my own health over here Alex: Yeah, I was I was like, dude, I what do you want me to do? you you want me how about you give me a stop sign? I will hold said stop sign and they'll still probably run. So I don't know how I Marcus: they'll run that stop sign. Alex: don't know what you want me to do here, coach. Cause like I l and the other coach I was sitting in right field, he was laughing. So he was like, Yeah, there was nothing else you could do. Like I heard you tell him not to run into the L multiple times and he still did. Like, I was Marcus: Hell yeah. Alex: like, I don't. So these kids, anyways, another long way of saying we are having the exact conversation of when can we start making them run and do push ups? Because these kids need Marcus: Now. Yeah. Alex: to like discipline's gotta start because they're not learning by us just repeating every time. Marcus: No, nope. I tried to do the... Not be their friend, but just like, look, I'm listening to you, like this is what we're gonna do, blah blah. And they just don't listen. They just don't, they don't care. They're just doing whatever. I had them do this drill from a goal kick. Like you don't kick across your own goal in rec, right? Like you wanna keep it on this side, cause... That's when bad things happen. And I said, hey, you kick it across here. Lap. Well, the first thing a kid does is they're on that side. They run to the other side of the field. I was like, dude, I literally just told you, do not run on this side of the field. I set up cones. I set up whole cone area. I if you walk across this, you're running a lap and you just just right through it like blew through the stop signs. It was multiple. And it's just like, don't know. Alex: Dude, it it's it it is nauseatingly exhausting. Like just coaching and trying. And I think it's actually harder the older they get, because you're like, I know you know the words that are coming out of my mouth. Like I know you understand what I'm saying. So I'm a little confused why you're not doing what I'm saying. And it it's just like it's a nightmare. So I'm ready for next season. Because the minute people are paying to have their kid on a team is the minute I think we can truly enforce discipline and be like, your parents are paying a lot for you to be here. We're gonna start listening and doing what's right. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I don't know. I just went ahead and did it Alex: Jason, you're muted. Jason: Yeah, I was coughing earlier. wait till they get to high school. You try to you. It's Marcus: yeah, what do you do with your kids? How do you discipline on the golf course? Alex: God, dude. Hey Jason: like literally you tell them and they're like, okay, I got it. All right. Now, obviously, certain aspects I don't have to like think about, like, obviously, like, don't go that way because you'll make a mistake. They could see that, but trying to even help them understand. certain components. we do very specific workouts on Mondays, very golf oriented. Like I gone through several editions of this. These are what the pros do. These are dynamic movements. These are all things that strengthen like, well, I want my chest. I want so they started giving this different vibe of not caring about I'm trying to help some of them get better in what we're actually focused on and they're more worried about some of the other things. So you start getting more of that type of attitude and demeanor. And it's Marcus: Hmm Jason: like, what are you doing? And just goofing off and this and that. Even some of the better players, they're like, I don't need this. Like, I'm fine with the way I play right now. And like, actually, no, you're not. Like, you are not shooting low 70, sub 70. You're not even close. And so we're helping you build stronger, build muscle, build. endurance, these are all things that will lead into a long term, performance, not just trying to get something quick and easy. So yeah. But if there's any well, we gotta be careful because we can't call it punishment. It's against the rules because parents throw a fit and you can't discipline them. Yeah, so it's a workout. Marcus: yeah. Alex: An extra workout. Jason: It is a modified workout. yeah, the good old days of you listen to coach, that's what coach says, you mess up, this is what you're doing. You're doing liners, you're doing something like that. So it has to be done in a way where it's not looked upon as punishment. Because, that's gonna be a red flag and losing your job type thing. Marcus: I also make all of them do it too. Not just one person. it's I'm not yeah. Yeah, you have to do every everyone on that side Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Yeah Jason: that's where it is. It's whole team. This is a team. Even though you're an individual player, this is a team. So we all do it. So it's classified as a workout. Alex: So I I did that yesterday or at practice. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: we weren't doing pitcher catcher drills. So I ended up working with the outfielders and we've had a really bad issue of the ball getting past our outfielders, both over their head and between their legs. So, anyways, we're doing a drill and we have five outfielders and I was I told him, I said, Hey, if ball gets over your head, it's five push ups. Like I don't care if you knock it down. I don't care if you drop it. you're 10, that's gonna happen. But what cannot happen is ball gets over your head. That is extra basis. Ball stays in front. Take your steps back. Blah, blah, blah. Anyways, first kid that misses one and goes over his head. The other boys are kind of like, that's five pushups for him, right? I go, No, no, no. We're a team. It's five push-ups for all of you. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: And they just stared at me I think they thought I was kidding at Jason: Yeah. Alex: first. I go, No, I'm not kidding. All of you. We are a team. All of you. Did any of Marcus: Yeah. Jason: And then they get mad at that kid. Alex: I said, did any of you tell him back, back, back? Did any of you tell him, drop? No, I'm the one sitting here. That ball's over your head. The ball's over your head. Y'all need to learn how to hold each other accountable and help each other out. So all of you are doing push ups. And after that, they were a lot better. they were trying to help each other out. They were trying to help call Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: it. I was like, maybe we learned something today. I don't know. Jason: What they thir Marcus: Yeah. Jason: nine, ten? Alex: ten. Well, nine and ten year olds. It's it's a U ten. Jason: yeah, I think that's totally fine. I think there you need to start structuring some discipline and or punishment, so to speak, so they understand the consequence. Alex: Yeah. I I agree. Jason: they they wanna succeed, they wanna be better, I I assume, they wanna win. Marcus: Yeah, they like the winning until, yeah, they start losing and they're like, we suck and this and that. It's Alex: Dude. Oof. Marcus: like, Jason: Well, what are you gonna do about it? Marcus: yeah. Alex: We are on a five on five week losing streak. Like we have not won. And it's I'm not saying like five week, like we play once a week. Like we have multiple games a week sometimes. Like Marcus: Hmm. Alex: we have not won a game in a little over a month now. And the boys are getting so frustrated. Cause it's like they've been close. Like it's like Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: we we're barely missing. We're like, so it's just but a lot of it's mental errors and discipline. And that's what we're hounding on in practice now. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: So Jason: Yeah, it's the little things. Alex: Yeah, it is. they'll figure it out. We have one more regular season plus playoffs, and then November is it'll be done by November like seventh or something like that. and then we move into off season until like second week of December, and then we're off for a month. So Jason: it's p completely shut down. Alex: Yeah, there'll be no practices. So we will have the club team will have structured off season, which is like a one hour hitting a week and then one hour Jason: Mm. Alex: of strength and train strength and agility training. So two hours a week they'll have practice through like I must say that second week of December, then we'll be off until after the holidays. Then we'll pick up. strength and training and conditioning again till I don't know, early February. And then we'll go to baseball practices early February 'cause season will start in March. So we d we haven't Jason: All right. Alex: had much time off. I mean, it baseball is literally year round, the cross is year round. So You know who's not year Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: round? Live. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Hehehehehe Jason: Nice segue. Alex: I it's funny. I s Jason: Did you listen to our last episode? Marcus: We had some pretty good points. Alex: Dude, my, I am I am so mad, actually. so mad because I was listening to it in the car and obviously I'm trying to practice safe driving. I wanted to take notes because there are a lot of things that I had pointer like things to talk about based on that, and I should have re-listened to it today. first off, I want to be very clear. I did not throw Marcus under the bus with his daughter's age. So So we were sitting and just talking. And I was saying, like, I was telling her like what Addy said about hunting. And then I Marcus: Yeah. Alex: was telling her, like, Bella when I went in to kiss Bella goodnight before I left. or actually, no, it was when I when we got home because she was still awake. I was like, hey, hi baby, like, good night, like I'm home now. And she was like, Well, where were you? I my honey gosh, did you take your guns? And I was like, Yes, Bella, that's what hunting is. But I hadn't told her where where I was going or what I was doing or the whole gun thing. So I kinda told Casey, I was like, I I was telling her this story and I was like, So sh I think she's she could like go with me and watch. Like she seems she already knows what guns are, apparently. So and then I told her a story about Addy, that Marcus had told me. So I was like, well, they're the same age, so we might as well go. She was like, Alex, they're not the same age. I was like, babe, Marcus and I had this conversation. They're the same age. Marcus: you Jason: Yeah. Alex: I was like, she's a little bit older than Bella based on the birthdays. And she was like, Alex, you're a dumbass. No, they're not. She is four. She was like, Blake threw our baby shower. She was not pregnant then. And I was like, Jason: Ha. Marcus: yeah, that checks. That checks. Yeah, Alex: that's a valid point. That is a very valid point, Casey. Marcus: that checks. Alex: And she was like, I'm telling Blake. I was like, Whatever, that's fine. I just want I want it clear. I didn't tell all Marcus. Okay. She was just laughing at me. Marcus: Yeah, I Jason: Ha. Marcus: I admitted I said I I found out that Marcus was in second grade while we were at the hunting trip Jason: Mm. I was gonna say yeah. Marcus: so It's a lot that you learn, you know, sitting in a blind by yourself with other people Yeah, it's like wait you're Jason: All the other distractions go away and you start getting more clarity like, Marcus: you're infertile second it's like cool Alex: yeah, so I I I learned some things about MJ. you know, MJ's a cool kid, I like him. Marcus: you Jason: Mm. Alex: one, and this is a this is a list, so we're gonna go through it. One, the kid doesn't stop talking. Does not stop talking. And he doesn't have an internal filter. Like anything he thinks comes Marcus: That's Alex: out. Marcus: I... Alex: Yeah. Marcus: I know we're not supposed to... Okay. Alex: Two he is Marcus. Quite literally, he is Marcus. The amount Marcus: You Jason: Ha ha. Alex: of corny dad jokes I was subjected to in a ten hour day was baff like just baffling. It's a don't get me wrong, some of them were hilarious. I was cracking up. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: But he had the most Marcus: Yeah. Alex: dad jokes. And at one point, Blake And Marcus were on the phone and he's telling her a dad joke. And I and I was like, where does he get this from? She's like, I don't know. he is literally a replica of Marcus. Marcus: He's got some good comedic timing and I know, you know, we tell the boys whatever stays in the deer blind. We talk about in the deer blind Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: stays in the deer blind, but it was the funniest thing that happened to me was when we were talking about why we need to take out more does than bucks. And Alex goes, it's because, you know, mating season and then He's like, yeah, mating season. I guess you, had asked, we had asked Tripp to explain what, what mating season was. then Marcus grabs the mic that was on his shirt and he's like, just say it into the microphone. And it's just like, this kid. man. Alex: That was we we had some fun with trip and that it that one's gonna stay off the mic, but he's Marcus: Yeah. Alex: at that age that you can start messing with him a little bit. he's he's eleven, he's not a kid anymore. He's a kid, but not a kid. So we talk about mating season and I joked, the Bucks are chasing the dough, and he was like, Why go trip? Why do you think? Like we've had this conversation, why do you think? Jason: gosh. Alex: And he just his eyes just got really big. He's like, what he just got real awkward. he didn't want to answer it. And Marcus Marcus: Yeah. Alex: and I are just sitting there like prodding, we wouldn't let it go. Just give him a hard time. I think his face was beat red. He was so embarrassed. but no, third third third item, third item. Marcus: yeah, we were poking, poking. yeah. Yeah, we mess with them. Yeah, sorry, continue with your list. I'm sorry. Yeah. Alex: I'm a little confused how MJ. doesn't stop talking when he also doesn't stop eating. So, so I was told by Marcus, hey, we we're probably gonna stop at a gas station, get some snacks for things. So when we left, I was like, hey, Trip, let's pack some snacks for us. Like, let's make sure, grab this, this, this, and this. That'll be good for us. And we'll we can grab a couple more things at the gas station. I was unaware that my snack haul was also gonna feed MJ, to which meant he ate my portion of the snacks and I got none. The kid and which is look, here's the deal. It's it's fine by me. I'm doing free hunting. I'm I'm going to a place that I would never have a chance to. I will feed the kid Jason: Mm. Alex: all day. Now I know better. But I didn't know better at that moment. So he's just going to town on all these snacks. And I was like, MJ, do you stop eating? Jason: What? Alex: do you ever just like I it I'm confused how you're telling me story while simultaneously shoving a beef jerky stick in your mouth. This is like it was Marcus: Also, we had snacks in the backpack, but he liked your snacks better. Yeah, the cheese sticks. Alex: Put my oranges and the gluten free chocolate chip cookies that he wanted. Marcus: yeah. Jason: yeah, they taste better from somebody else always. Marcus: Yeah, the powdered donuts that they just ran through in like 20 minutes. Alex: Always did. that was hilarious. MJ was killing those powdered donuts. Trip was getting so mad at him. He's like, you're eating all my powdered donuts. I've had like three. MJ's got like two in his hands. He's like, yeah. It's like Marcus: It was at one point, Tripp's hand was in there and Marcus is putting his hand like, excuse me, excuse me. Like he's like, I'm Jason: Yeah. Marcus: getting one. He just didn't care. Did not care. Alex: So this is all compounded with we are quite literally doing like the most primitive outdoor thing Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: that you can do as man. We are hunting. I shouldn't say most primitive because like we could be tracking deer and being a little Marcus: Yeah. Alex: more manly about it instead of just sitting in a feeder and having them come to us, but nonetheless, Jason: Yeah, that's cheating. Alex: nonetheless, we're literally outside with windows that are open to the outside. And probably two hours in, MJ's getting antsy and he looks at Marcus and goes, I need to see the real world. And I and Marcus: Okay. Alex: he started like this was he was walking to the door to get out of the blind, and Marcus, like, Where are going? I need to see the world. And I was like, MJ, there's a window right there. Like, just put your hand out the window and we're we're in the real world. Like, I'm a little confused here. Like It it was it it could not have gone any better than I honestly thought it was gonna go as a father son hunting trip. Like I I would have liked to have shot something, obviously, but Jason: Ha ha. Marcus: we had an opportunity. Alex: at the end we did have opportunity. But at the end of the day, like it was it was a fun experience and it was fun memories and it we it was a boring ten there was at one point, I think all four of us were asleep in the blind. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: Just Marcus is sitting here passed out. I'm like leaning my head on the windowsill, Marcus: You Alex: passed out. Trip was like in a straight line at a 45 with his butt supported by the seat and the back of the chair supporting his back. It's like, how are you even staying up in that position? He was passed out. Marcus Marcus: He was snoring. Alex: MJ rolled on the floor. He was passed out. Marcus at one point Marcus looked Jason: That's it. Marcus: Yeah, he was on the floor. Alex: down at him and was like, if we see a deer, you're staying down there. You can't get up. you're gonna make too much noise. So it was it was a trip of a day, no pun intended on trip. He Marcus: Yeah. Alex: had a shot early, Jason: Wow. Alex: lined it up, pulled the trigger, and a safety was on, which at the end of the day I told Marcus, I was like, if we're gonna have any issue in the blind, having a safety on is like the one that I'm okay with. Like, net now, Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: next time you know, get your thumb on that safety so you can flick it off fast. But Marcus: Yeah. But right after that one, we said, Tripp, that was your deer. It's like, I'm going give you two seconds as soon as I see one for you to pull the trigger or else it's mine. Alex: Well the So the so the good thing is I Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: will say I'm glad I'm glad he didn't because he was clearly nervous. And he's n I'm glad he kind of got the nerves out a little, hopefully. Because we're gonna take him again and see what happens. But when we decide to leave and go grab lunch, we're like, I told Marcos, I was like, Well, I'm gonna take a shot at that tree. Like I I wanna make sure the gun's sighted in because it's a gun that I had kind of put together last minute, put the scope on, I sighted in at indoor range. But that can only get as good as it possibly can. So Trip takes a shot at this tree and misses the tree. And I was like, okay, maybe it's the scope. I shoot, hit the tree. And I was like, okay, cool. Now we have a baseline. We at least know it's close. I'm gonna put one more downrange and see what happens. I put my second one, what quarter inch, half inch off my first one. Marcus: Yeah, it was on top of it. Yeah. Alex: it was probably as close as I think I could have gotten. And Marcus looks at Tripp and goes, Dude, if you miss a shot, it's not the gun. It's you. just stared him in his soul and was like, If you miss this shot Marcus: Yeah. It's you. yeah. Alex: 'Cause he hit like f and we did realize he hit the tree, but he hit five feet above where mine were. So it's like, you aren't aiming that high. Marcus: Yeah, he was... Alex: so that's just bad aim. So it's a good thing we didn't take a shot. He Jason: my gosh. Alex: would have missed anyways. And the second time he had a he had Marcus: He probably, yeah. Alex: lined up, there was a buck right behind it. So with our luck, he would have freaking smashed the buck in the middle of the head and Marcus and I would be hauled off to jail. So it worked out. Everything was good. We'll go get one next time. Marcus: Yeah, yeah, I told Treva's I were not going to jail for you like Jason: man. Marcus: yeah Alex: Yeah, but I Marcus and I did learn a very valuable lesson. And that lesson is we are also lining up on a shot so that if Tripp doesn't pull that trigger fast enough, one of us is. The first, the Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Jason: Mm. Alex: first deer that he missed was well within range from my gun, the one that I was using. Marcus: yeah. Alex: Because it was like 50, 60 yards. And I hit that tree close to my other spot, even with the 223. So the second shot would have been a little far for. For my rifle, but you could have got the second shot. But we saw so we saw nothing after that. Let me rephrase that. We saw stuff, but nothing that would come within range. we had four doe walk up on the blind and peek at us, but then something spooked and they ran the other way. We had another doe and buck come up for like a split second, spooked, and ran off. I don't think it was us. We have a theory that the truck was just in an awkward spot and maybe they saw the truck, which Marcus: Yeah. Alex: is still a little weird to me. Like I don't think. D are generally that smart, but Marcus: Mm-mm. Alex: But we pretty much saw nothing after eight fifteen in the morning and we left Jason: gosh. Alex: at six forty five in the evening. Marcus: We went got lunch and then we we Jason: my gosh. Marcus: put the boys to work filling feeders Alex: We did we did fill feeders. I roped the kids because I was bored. so Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Jason: Might as well get something out of it. Alex: this rope this rope that I purchased to use as props, I'm learning how to use. So I was chasing Trip and Marcus around roping them. I threw a 40 pound bag of feed at my son. That was fun. Jason: Mm. Marcus: It was it was like the one of the last bags too because I think Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: it was it was the last feeder we were doing it was like five bags that because it was empty and so I'm just bringing them over and I just hear a thud and I look over and I just see trip driving his head And the bag was like at his feet like on his feet So it was just like I'm like I'm just looking at Alex and he's already grabbing another bag It's like he said get up So yeah, he hurled it at him. Yeah, I Wish the camera Jason: my gosh. Alex: yeah, it was it it was a long Marcus: I wish the camera would have been on Alex: Yeah, would have been great. Apparently the game camera got me trying to lasso a kid, but it didn't get the kid, so it just hasn't me swinging a rope over my head. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Who's that loon out there with a lasso? Marcus: Yeah. Alex: Funny enough, Marcus texted me two days ago and was like, I need to get one of those ropes for the lease. It's like, Yeah, I know what you want that rope for. Let's just Marcus: Yeah. Alex: be honest. Jason: No. Mm-hmm. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: You need to get a tree stand Jason: Chasing those does. Alex: I told him he needs to get a tree stand so that we can try to rope a pig. Marcus: Maybe. Jason: Mm. Marcus: I got a lot of pigs the other day. Yesterday. Alex: Yeah, I showed Trip. I showed Trip that picture that you sent me. He was like, Of course. No, so so so Trip Marcus: Yeah. Of course. You would have messed, Tripp. Shut up. Alex: Trip is like, he's like into hunting now because so Sunday, what was it? No, Saturday, you texted me and was like, I think I'm gonna go out tomorrow morning. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: I told Trip I said, Hey, Marcus is going out tomorrow. And he goes, I'm gonna be so mad if he gets something without me. he's like all into hunting now. Like he's like, I wanna go get something. He's got that itch. So I gotta Marcus: Yeah. yeah. Alex: get him, I gotta get him back out there soon because otherwise Marcus: Yeah. Alex: he might go ballistic. No pun intended again. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Well, y'all are having a break here soon, yeah, whenever. We'll figure it out. Alex: Yeah, yeah, once we once we calm down. Marcus and I, I told him I was like, you're close enough to my work that we could go out in the morning, especially because daylight savings is about to hit. We can go out in the morning and hunt, and like I could still probably be at my desk by 9 30. Like if I bring a change of clothes, maybe some dude wipes, no one will smell me. But if I go if if I just Marcus: I just bought some dude wipes. Jason: Right. Dude some dude wipes. Alex: if I just make it like a job site day too, like where I'm Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: outside. No one will know the Jason: Yeah. Alex: difference, right? Jason: Not typically. Alex: So So the hunting trip was it was a success. looking forward to doing it again. I'll be shocked if MJ comes again. But maybe he Marcus: He'll, Alex: will. Marcus: he'll, he's good if he's by himself. But when he sees other kids he got, he gets a little, I don't know, he starts talking more just cause I don't know, he likes, he likes people. I can see him, I can see him being a sales guy. He likes talking. He likes just eating. So we'll see. Jason: Two things of a salesperson, out to dinner, out to lunch, talk. Marcus: Yep, yeah talk so he might he might Alex: Yeah. Marcus: have that he's got stories too But he is so tomorrow we have the games and I had told Blake like well I said that gun shows here in Fort Worth and I said maybe I'll go do that and Marcus was actually like, well, can I go with you? It's like I need I need some more hunting stuff and maybe we have Yeah, yeah, he needs Jason: He needed he needs a he needs another gun. Marcus: another gun. I was like, yeah sure but Yeah, he I guess Blake had some other kids party to go to I said well ask your mom and so you can come with me I said I don't care but ask your own make sure it's cool and When Blake was like, yeah go with your dad. He got all excited. He came up and hugged me He's like, it's gonna be the best day ever. like we're gonna play soccer and we're gonna go To the gun show and then we're gonna go get wings for your birthday and I'm gonna see my uncle Chewie and uncle Adrian was like, yeah, man It's gonna be a good day. So that's what we're doing Saturday for Just having a Alex: Nice. Marcus: late or a late lunch there with my brothers. Getting some wings and watching some football. So that'd be good. Alex: Nice. Well, you better be ready for a four o'clock pickup to head to Austin. Marcus: yeah, I will. Jason: my gosh. Yeah. Alex: Gates gates open at eight thirty, so Marcus: I'm down Jason: that'd be f that'd be so much fun. Alex: Yeah, yeah, it'll it'll be good. I've I've always I love F one. granted my favorite race. that's not true. Checo is racing still. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: he Sergio took off because Red Bull cut him. but he's on the Cadillac team. I forgot Cadillac started this year, so he's on. Marcus: Yeah, he's on the Cadillac Alex: I like Checko. so I guess I'll be cheering for Cadillac and I like Piastri too, so I'll be a McLaren guy. I told Marcus he's gotta deal with me, probably take my camera taking pictures. gotta do something for fucking ten hours. I can Jason: I Alex: there's only so much you could do. And we're driving back, so it's not like I can sit and drink and like just Uber back to hotel. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: So I've gotta I've gotta drive us back home too, so Jason: That'd be a fun day trip though. Day-ish night trip. Marcus: Yeah, I've never, never been. Alex: seven hours in a car plus ten hours watching racing. It'll be Jason: Is that because that's how many heats they'll go through before or the Alex: That's just how I'm going from eight thirty till I think I think the last race is at four. Producer will check for us. I Marcus: Yeah, last race. looked up the... Yeah. Alex: I think it's a four o'clock it's three or four. And it's two hours for the race. Yeah. Okay, so five. So nine hours Marcus: From three to five, yeah, it starts at three, ends at five. Alex: from eight thirty to five. the first race Marcus: Yep. Alex: is at ten, I think. The actual like first race. Marcus: Yeah, they got two Masters Historic Second Race, F1 Academy, Porsche Carrera North America Cup, and then the F1 Drivers Parade is at one o'clock. And then guess that's one o'clock is when everything starts for Formula One. Alex: Yeah, and we're on the last turn, turn fifteen. So like it's a turn that comes out, then back in, and then comes to the home stretch. so like you can see pretty far. They're they're good tickets. They're also a lounge, which means I guess we have AC restrooms and our own like food, which is nice. Cause apparently it's port a pot, other than that. Didn't know that. I figured there'd be infrastructure at a race like that. they would have restrooms and stuff. I I don't know. Don't care. Jason: Only if you're in the sweets. Alex: Yeah, I don't. It's funny. My the owner of my company, like he has season tickets to the Cowboys, he has Mavs. He does obviously these F one, he does, he's a big F one guy. So and he's a Barcelona fan. So him and I get along great because he's F one in Barcelona. Jason: Sorry as a cowboy fan though. Alex: And he always just well, we I I think he's a Cowboys fan regardless, but we we participated in building that stadium, our company did. So Jason: okay. Alex: we just have tickets because anytime you build for them, they're like, Hey, do you wanna get season Jason: Yeah. Alex: tickets? Here's a deal. He's like, Marcus: Yup. Alex: I'm not doing a suite, but I'll buy four tickets, whatever here. Marcus: Hehehehehe Jason: Yeah. Alex: So yeah, it's been it's been a hell of a week. it's nice to get back on, have the hunting trip going. yeah, but I listened to y'all's live stuff, I listened to Jason's saga, and I wanna be very clear. I think irons is a terrible decision, but at this point, I Marcus: Yeah! They look so cool Jason: No, I I'm gonna get a s Marcus: though! Jason: I'm gonna get a broomstick and we're gonna go to pop stroke. We're all gonna use it. Marcus: yeah, yeah, we talked about that. Alex: W well yeah, we need to do that, but Marcus: Yeah. Alex: that was the other the other thing. Pop Stroke, it's thirty-six holes, two eighteen hole courses, and it's a lot more like a legitimate course. You always froze on me. I don't know what part you heard and what part you didn't. Jason: her legitimate course Alex: Okay. You're good then. Marcus: strokes 36 holes yeah Alex: Yeah, it's thirty six hole and it's it's shaped like a legitimate course with sand traps and everything, but obviously the sand is just white turf. Jason: Right, but it's just straight putting, right? You can't chip on it. Alex: yeah, just straight putting. It's n there's no chipping. And yes, of course it's Taylor made. Jason: Okay. Okay. Alex: Marcus, you dummy. Tiger Woods has a partnership with Taylor Made. Would not be Callaway. Marcus: They have colored balls. Alex: Yeah, they are tail well, no, they're white they're I have three of them in my truck because we've been Marcus: I know, they're white but they have the font is different Alex: Yeah, they're like the Marcus: color. Alex: Yeah, they're like the Taylor made whatever, True Feel or something like that is whatever brand they are or line. Definitely not triple track, definitely not that. That's definitely Marcus: The triple track. Yeah for sure Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: a Callaway thing. Marcus: yeah it is. I'm terrible. Alex: Yeah, I I was listening I was listening to that podcast and in my head Jason: gosh. Alex: I was like, I thought Marcus was supposed to be the fact checking guy and he's just over here. I'm gonna have to go in and correct him. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Yeah, I fact-checked to no other and then I just ran out of fact checks. I ran out of credits to fact check. Jason: Yeah. Alex: Right now, credits. I I had one more thing on that podcast. I can't remember what it is now, but those are really my key takeaways. making sure that everyone knew I didn't throw Marcus under the bus on age and Jason's terrible direction on getting irons. But again, at this Jason: But they look Marcus: They look cool. Alex: at this I dad, they're gonna look black's gonna look great in your bag until round six when they start wearing off. I know a lot of people have done Marcus: Now they fixed it. Alex: black. Colin actually has black clubs right now. He has he has the Cobras. Jason: But yeah, the the the finish wears off no matter what they do, that finish will wear off. Alex: Yeah, there's only so much you can do. don't get me wrong. I'm with you. Black looks sick, oil can looks sick. I'm Marcus: Yeah. Alex: I'm all for those. But like, if we're sitting here and we're trying to have an honest conversation about what's gonna make you a better golfer, it is not your irons. We need wedges and we need a putter. Marcus: And a broomstick. yes. Alex: I I think that's where we gotta start because I don't think it's the irons since you've had four different sets of irons and your game really hasn't gotten worse or better since. Marcus: Yeah, but not this set. Alex: this this set's gonna change everything. Marcus: This is the one. Yeah, this is different. Jason: Yeah, this is this is different. This is gonna be very different. Alex: Also Also, we have been on this podcast for like a year and a half now, and I don't know at any point we have ever said to just go buy clubs instead of getting fit. So I got beef Marcus: No, yes. Alex: with you because you don't want to go get fit. If you're gonna get irons, at least go get fit and get the right irons. Marcus: I said just go buy them and then just bend them to whatever you need. That's what I said! Yeah, it's just... Jason: See, it's just a reverse process. They'll still get fit just Alex: Marcus. Jason: after I get Alex: Look, I know when you sell drugs, you're not supposed to try the product, but when you're in a podcast, Marcus, you're supposed to listen to our product, in which we have always said go get fit before because the shaft is more important than the head. So you can't change the shaft once you buy the clubs. You would have to buy a new set, which is Jason's MO because then he would have a whole set of shafts that he can go turn in. Marcus: I'm Jason: Just get more credit. Marcus: just a guy that focuses on the head, I guess. I'm not really Jason: Mm. Marcus: into shafts. Jason: Let's wait a minute. Marcus: Not like that. Like the golf head. Alex: Huh. Okay. We're gonna let that one we're gonna let that one sit there for a second. Marcus: marinate Jason: Yeah. Let that one soak a little bit. Alex: Yeah, no, but see Marcus: Yes. Alex: all all jokes aside, I'm a little confused why we're on the iron conversation without getting fit, because you need to get a shaft that works for you. It's not the head, it is not your clubs, I don't I don't know why you don't just go get your wedges and go get the putter that I thought we landed on three weeks ago. Jason: Yeah, but then you you just said as soon as you get it, it's the best one I have, but then I'm still gonna make fun of you. Alex: absolutely. Jason: See what So I'd rather have the black iron Alex: Why wouldn't I? Jason: so I at least look cool when you make fun of me. Marcus: And and they're not gonna get worn in the same spot because Jason can't hit the same spot on the clubhead. It'll get worn evenly. Yeah It's gonna get it's gonna Jason: No, I'm gonna be universal. I'm not gonna discriminate to the center. I'm just the whole club. Marcus: get a lot of wear everywhere You Jason: Hey. I Alex: I d I don't know where we go from here. Jason: heard you were proud of me though that I have not just burned a hole through it, just went to the shop and just grabbed something. Alex: I am I am very proud of the growth you have shown in restraint. That is that is a new Jason. I'm proud of you for that one. Jason: yeah, I'm still sitting on it. I'm not gonna make a move. It probably won't till after the new year, honestly. Alex: What are the Vegas odds on that one happening? Marcus: I think it's gonna be before Christmas to be honest. Jason: Think so? Alex: I th I think he's gonna see those Christmas deal those Christmas deals are gonna come up and he's Marcus: yeah, it's two months Yeah, yeah Alex: gonna he's gonna get on the pod and be a guy's I got a heck of a deal. Th this is what I did. Marcus: Yeah, I'm not gonna believe this. I still gotta get fit. Jason: I'm not even gonna kid I'm not gonna say anything. I'm gonna have my black vessel bag right here with the black irons just sitting right next to me. Alex: so now we're also buying a vessel bag. Marcus: Yeah. yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We talked about it. Yeah. Jason: Yeah, he's yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. you must have missed that part of it. Yeah. Marcus: It's gotta fit the whole thing. Jason: It's gonna be all black. I'm gonna be the new Gary player. Alex: there's nothing wrong with all bla I have a black vessel bag. I like vessel. I like black. Marcus: irons, shafts, grips. Jason: Yeah. Even if the shaft is blue, I'm just gonna paint it black. I just want all black. Alex: I do not have I don't have I don't have black. I don't have black. Mine are mine are traditional silver, and they work great. Chrome, I guess, is the correct terminology. Marcus: You Jason: Rustolia makes a great stick on paint. We could ps there we go. We're good. See Mark's is thinking about it. Yeah, he likes that he could do the copper paint brushes, copper. Marcus: I haven't swung a golf club in I don't know how long. I'm a Jason: Ha ha Marcus: little scared to go to the range to be honest. Alex: I'm I'm a little worried about going Jason: He needs three bays. Alex: to IGP tomorrow for that reason. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: He needs three bays next to him because he might shank it straight right. Marcus: Yeah, Alex: Yeah, I Marcus: don't even know I guess where should I start if I go start back at the range just kind of Chipping around huh? Like on the unlike Alex: Wedges. Yeah. Get your get your feel back. I always start with the wedges. You're you're gonna do what I Jason: Wedges. Yeah. Simp small. Marcus: on the chipping green or like at the range No Alex: It doesn't matter. Even if Jason: Range. Either Alex: you go to the range, Jason: way, but Alex: just hit little thirty yarders, twenty yarders. Just work on your form, work on your tempo. Jason: Get Essentially. Alex: That's the worst thing that that's the first thing that goes is your tempo. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: If your tempo's throwing off, that's gonna throw everything off. You can fix it Jason: Yeah, all of it. Alex: everything else, but if your tempo's bad, then yeah. Jason: Yeah, you gotta get that timing back. Alex: Yeah. So that's what I will do when I go to IGP tomorrow. I will probably hit wedges for 30 minutes. And then I'll say F it to the rest and just start playing simulated holes and figure it out on the course. Jason: Once you get that feeling back, that tempo Marcus: yeah. Jason: back with the wedges, it does fall back pretty quick. Marcus: I may just take Alex: It really does. Marcus: the wedges and a putter just to force myself to use the wedges. Because if I take the whole bag, I'm just going to go for the long stick real quick. Jason: I've done that before. I've literally just grabbed my short Marcus: Yeah. Jason: clubs and walked to the clubhouse, get a bucket, just to leave the rest of the bag. Cause it'll f yeah, Marcus: Yeah. Just... Yeah. Alex: Well Jason: I would be like you like, I'm done with this and go up to the long clubs. Alex: Here's deal. Everyone's different. Colin, there's a period in which he would warm up. He'd start warming up for a round with his driver. Because his theory was his theory was Jason: I've s yeah. Mm-hmm. Alex: well, I'm not warm yet. I'm not limber. I'm not loose. So it's making me swing more controlled. So then I have a controlled feel, and that works its way down my bag. Marcus: Hmm. Alex: Whereas like I will not touch my driver until I've hit. Like I my warm-up is always lob wedge, gap wedge, eight four, and then I may work all of my top bag or may just hit driver or mini driver. Usually mini driver. Jason: No, I think it might have been Bryson for a time or even now his thing is use the driver because that's gonna give you your biggest range of motion, lengthen your swing, get all that out. So there is philosophy behind it. Does it work for everybody? No. Yeah. Alex: there's logic behind it. That's what I'm saying. there's a hundred percent logic behind it. Just like some tour players want to go warm up on the putting green before they hit the range. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: Some want to go to range first, and then putting green. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: I am much more of a putting green, chip around the green, get the feel, get the timing, feel my hands, and then go to the driving range kind of person. and like I don't like, I've never understood the people that. Go from driving range to putting green, putting green to T box in a competitive setting. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: Cause it's like all of that adrenaline that I built Marcus: Yeah. Alex: up hitting the driver. And I always finish my warm-up with two to five shots of the first T ball I'm gonna hit with the exact club. I'm imagining whatever shot shape it is. Jason: Mm. Alex: Like, why am I gonna do that and then go spend 45 minutes putting and forget that by the time I get to the T-Box? So like I'm Marcus: Mm-hmm. I think I'm with you on that one. Yeah. Alex: I'm short game chip, driving range, go play. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: When I'm doing a full warm up. Marcus: and you're not accelerated or your heart beats not accelerated when you're practicing your putts, I guess. Yeah, yeah. Alex: Yeah. Yeah, everything kind of calms down. Like you're not like I I wanna feel amped up on that first T box because then Marcus: Yeah. Alex: if I'm amped up like I'm either already amped going into it or I'm not amped going to amped and then I'm not controlling it, if that makes any sense. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah. it's just getting Alex: So I don't know. Jason: those if you go jack, jack, jack, get getting aggressive, and then you're no matter what, your heart rate's elevated, blood's pumping, your muscles are firing, and then you go calm it down with 30 minutes or twenty even ten minutes of putting. Now you gotta reset yourself, reset your feels. it's just yeah, it it's Alex: Yeah, it's Jason: a weird process, but some people do it. Alex: Yeah, different different strokes for different folks. it's it it it is what it is. Like so it it's the same with everything. Like I like certain chefs and lie angles and this and that. Like that's the fun thing golf. It's totally different for everyone. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: but yeah, so I don't know. Go go work on your wedges. I'll be doing the same. Gotta gotta I I have a scramble on not this Friday, but next Friday. Like two weeks from today. Jason: okay. Alex: I have scramble and all of the people I'm playing with know that I play golf and generally know my handicap. So I gotta Marcus: They're counting on you. Alex: I gotta try to not just be terrible. Jason: Yeah. Alex: Excuse me. so what else we got, boys? that was whirlwind. We went from one to another there real fast. Marcus: Classic. Jason: Just a show about just random. Alex: Yeah, classic. we do well, we we've got to figure out as we move forward. I know I have a potential guest gotta figure out that I think would be great for our listeners. mainly it it's a fitness guy. so just talking through, you know, limited time to work out type situations. is the people he works with the most. Jason's frozen on my screen. I didn't know if you were 'cause you were Marcus: Okay, he's frozen. Let it go. Let it go. Alex: Where'd he go? Damn, he's the guy that clicks the buttons too. we can't technically stop without him. Marcus: Be a long edit with him. Alex: Golly. Where'd he go? come on. Guess we'll wait for him. And he left. Marcus: No. Heck yeah. I hope he edits this out. Alex: Yeah, he's gonna have to. his computer rebooted itself. So we're just gonna Marcus: Hehehehehe Alex: go ahead and we'll just text him and Marcus: Nope, here he is. Alex: There he is. Yeah, you're gonna have to you're gonna have to edit out a good little three minutes there. Jason: Mm, that's fine. Alex: yeah, I was like, I was talking and Marcus was sitting really still, but you looked frozen. I was like, well, are both you frozen? Like, is it my computer? What's going on? And then he moved and I was like, it's Jason. And then I was like, it's the guy that's controlling the start stop of the recording. That's great. yeah, it should Jason: I assume it's still recorded. Marcus: yeah, it's still. Alex: have. No, but anyways, we have I gotta figure out that guest, fitness related, someone that works with people, athletes that have very interesting schedules and very little time to get to a conventional gym sometimes. So if we can get him on, I think Marcus: Ooh, that'd be good. Alex: that will be that'll be great. but other than that, it's good to have all three of us back on. I know schedules were Crazy and still are crazy. I know Jason's working through a lot of side business, side business stuff. Markets, you know, is getting rolled into his new role with his job. Obviously, we didn't even talk about my work, which is fine. We talk about that next time. if we need something. But my work's been crazy along with the media side stuff. So good to have all three of us. hopefully we'll continue that trend going forward. Jason: Yeah. Alex: but if y'all have Nothing. Anything else? Anything we missed? Jason: We're good. Just have a good and safe Halloween since we won't see each other till after. Alex: yeah, we didn't even talk about Halloween. Dang it. real quick, what what are the kiddos gonna be? We kinda talked Marcus and I kinda talked with us. I think I remember what his are. Jason: Which are Marcus: Buzz and don't don't put me on the spot like this. All right It's gonna be Buzz Lightyear and Bo Peep final answer boom And I think Blake Jason: Okay. Watch it be Woody and Bo Peep. Alex: That would make a lot more sense, but Marcus: is gonna be so we figured out Blake's Blake's gonna be the the alien the little green guy and I'm gonna be Sid You got a magnifying glass and Jason: My gosh. Marcus: my black t-shirt Yeah. Jason: All right. All right. Alex: Well, what what's Miles gonna be? Jason: Don't know. He we went last weekend to show him a bunch of costumes. We pulled Paw Patrol, Lightning McQueen, Toy Story, lined them all up and hey, let's get dressed, pick something. Hated all of them. He just we played him on the floor. He just literally looked at him, just kicked, nope. Kicked, nope. We thought we had a winner, then he just said, nope, kicked it. So we don't know. We he might be out in a pumpkin Alex: You Jason: t shirt at this point. Alex: You should encourage him to go Toy Story because then we can go three for three on Toy Story because Bella is gonna be Jesse. Jason: nice. Alex: Casey tried to get me to be slinky dog with her. We had that conversation about how I'm not gonna be tied to her all night. Jason: huh. Alex: boys are going as men in black and some Nickelodeon Jason: okay. Alex: superhero. Grayson is Henry Danger or something like that. So yeah, you should talk Jason: Interest, okay. Alex: him into going Toy Story and we can just go three for three on the Toy Story trend. Jason: Well, we thought he would because he Saul Toy Story Five, he actually likes watching them, aside from Lightning McQueen. He does get into it. He enjoys it. He'll play with their characters when we see them around at my folks' house or something. But as far as costume, I just don't know if he quite understands what Alex: Yeah. Jason: it is yet, what you're supposed to do, dress up to go get something. So we may just get something and throw them on in and just like you're getting dressed. And then that's it. Marcus: Yeah, no asking. Alex: Yeah, I'm gonna say years Jason: Mm. Alex: like two through four, really zero through four if we're being honest. those are for the parents. Like those are the years that you pick what you want them to be because you think it's cute. 'Cause once Jason: Yeah. Alex: once they turn five, they start having an opinion and they wanna like Bella wanted to be Jesse. Like, is that the cutest outfit in the world? No, like there's a lot of other things you could do, but she wants to be Jesse, so so yeah, I would just go buy him something and make him weird and say, This is what you're doing. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: I think that's what Shelby's doing. We're not even she's not even gonna take She's just gonna go find something at Target or or wherever and just be like, All right, here we go. This is what you're doing. Alex: Yeah, I agree. Well, no, I'm glad you brought that up. can't even believe I forgot that on the agenda. My fault. but yeah, no, y'all have a happy, safe Halloween. as always, everyone, Wednesday at six, Apple, Amazon, YouTube, Spotify. give us a like, comment, follow all of the above. we will now that things are kind of starting to calm down. Hopefully get another video out before the end of the year. We just need to plan it and do it. But as always, boys, we'll talk next week. Jason: All right. Talk to you later. Marcus: All right, see you.
