• 0:21
  Speaker 1: What Adventure Genie.
• 0:23
Speaker 1: Later, jeff has the racing calendar, mars has this week in auto history and I'll get you caught up on the stories making automotive news headlines this week.
• 0:30
Speaker 1: Howdy, along with Mike out of this world, mars.
• 0:32
Speaker 1: We always need more, jeff Zekin.
• 0:34
Speaker 1: David Ainsley's got the day off, but boy, next week at this time he'll be working.
• 0:39
Speaker 2: He'll be busy, he'll be sweating.
• 0:40
  Speaker 1: I'm Don Armstrong.
• 0:41
Speaker 1: I'm glad you could join us for our Saturday morning clutch coffee, clutch extravaganza, extravaganza, whatever you want to call it.
• 0:52
Speaker 1: Well, don't call it that.
• 0:55
  Speaker 1: Extravaganza?
• 0:55
  Speaker 1: No, not that.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: Whatever was on your mind.
• 0:58
Speaker 3: Oh, I know who you are.
• 0:58
  Speaker 3: My mind's blank.
• 1:00
  Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: Well, let's check in with Scott Lengel.
• 1:04
Speaker 1: Scott, am I pronouncing your last name, right?
• 1:08
Speaker 4: Lengel Lengel, I answer to anything, really.
• 1:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks, bob, pleasure to be here.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: Scott tell us what is Adventure Genie.
• 1:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, adventure Genie is an all-in-one AI-based trip planning tool that's targeted to the RVer, and the RVer or the camper is our core audience, but it really works quite well for anyone that's just taking a road trip in a car or a truck or a bicycle or a motorcycle or anything else.
• 1:41
Speaker 1: But it is finely tuned to the RVer and the camper and what makes it tuned to the RVer, as opposed to a guy that's going to go cross country in his Volkswagen Bug.
• 1:53
Speaker 4: Yep, that's a great question, mostly because we have a very large campground database.
• 2:00
Speaker 4: So what we do and anybody really could stay at a campground especially a lot of KOAs and other types of campgrounds these days they have an ability to stay in a tent, camp or cabin, so it really can work for you, even if you're not towing something or driving a bus.
• 2:19
Speaker 4: But with our campground database, what we do is we finely tune the selections or the recommendations of places to stay based on your travel needs.
• 2:28
Speaker 4: So we know what you're driving, we know what level of amenities you're looking for, we know whether you need a dog park or not, or you want it to be kid-friendly, and the type of hookups you need you need 50 amp or 30 amp and we make really finely tuned recommendations.
• 2:48
Speaker 4: So it's kind of as easy as saying hey, I'd like to take a six-week trip from South Carolina to the national parks of Utah and we will figure out what national parks are in Utah, like the Big Five, and what order you should take them and how long you should stay at each one and what a great campground targeted to you is.
• 3:18
Speaker 4: Again, because we know what you're looking for and what you like and stay away from the things that you don't like.
• 3:20
Speaker 4: And we also know that you like to go hiking, biking, and eat local barbecue and drink beer, and we will make recommendations for breweries and barbecue joints and good hikes and biking trails along the way.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: How much does this service cost?
• 3:38
Speaker 4: It's 50 bucks a year, but right now we're running a sale for $39.99, which is 20% off, and we'll be running that for probably the rest of the month.
• 3:49
Speaker 4: And that's just an annual fee.
• 3:51
Speaker 4: And you think about it, you go to a campground or you're on the road and you know $30, $40, $50, you're doing that without batting an eye and we give you a whole year worth of trip planning, all the artificial intelligence built in.
• 4:07
Speaker 4: You could save unlimited number of trips and yeah, so we give you everything.
• 4:13
Speaker 4: We also allow you even if you don't have an RV or a camper.
• 4:16
Speaker 4: Today we have integration with RV Share, which is the world's first and largest RV rental company, so you could book your RV directly from Adventure Genie.
• 4:26
Speaker 4: And we have relationships with campground aggregators, like Camp Spot Tonight, which will allow you to book your campground, so you never have to leave the tool.
• 4:38
  Speaker 4: And, yeah, it's an all-in-one, all-encompassing tool.
• 4:44
Speaker 3: So, scott, let me ask you this.
• 4:45
Speaker 3: So say, I'm a member and I've got my $50 in and I'm planning to plan a trip, and I contact you and I say you know what, scott, I want to leave August 15th and I want to do that trip to Idaho, the campgrounds and all the things out there.
• 5:02
Speaker 3: How long does it take to prepare?
• 5:04
Speaker 3: I give you a date and you get working on it and you get back with me.
• 5:08
  Speaker 3: When?
• 5:09
Speaker 3: Does it take a week to do all that?
• 5:10
Speaker 3: Does it take a couple of days?
• 5:12
Speaker 3: How long does it take to get that itinerary from you?
• 5:16
Speaker 4: Oh, that's a great question and I'm going to apologize in advance that for some reason I'm having the technical guys having a little bit of technical difficulty with the audio here.
• 5:25
Speaker 4: But I think I got the question like how long does it take to to build out that trip right?
• 5:30
Speaker 4: That is the beauty of adventure genie what used to take hours, days, literally even weeks, because you'd be going to two, three, four, five or ten different tools to do it, now with AI and in one tool, literally we do it in seconds, maybe minutes.
• 5:49
Speaker 4: So I could say take that six-week trip cross-country.
• 5:54
Speaker 4: Here's a cool one that I like to use Take a trip from Virginia down to Key West, stopping at the best beach towns and find the best local places to eat seafood and find campgrounds.
• 6:08
Speaker 4: For me, the amount of research that you would use with Google and other campground finders literally would take easily hours, but typically days, because you don't have enough time or patience to do it all in one sitting.
• 6:22
Speaker 4: Within seconds, we will provide you with that full itinerary.
• 6:23
Speaker 4: Days because you don't have enough time or patience to do it all in one sitting within seconds, we will provide you with that full itinerary.
• 6:30
Speaker 3: So if I do that, can I read reviews of other folks that have gone on trips in a particular area I want to go on?
• 6:36
Speaker 3: Is there something that?
• 6:37
Speaker 3: Well, maybe I don't want to do that, and somebody said on a review it was great or it was not so great, so is that available as well?
• 6:47
  Speaker 4: Yeah, review.
• 6:47
Speaker 4: It was great or it was not so great.
• 6:48
Speaker 4: So is that available as well?
• 6:49
Speaker 4: Yeah, so we can.
• 6:49
Speaker 4: Um, a lot of it is crowdsourced and you can share trips with uh, your friends and you can.
• 6:53
Speaker 4: We can publish trips that others have taken, including folks you might follow influencers, so to speak, oh god, and you kind of trust what, what they've done.
• 7:03
  Speaker 4: Like, like there's a.
• 7:05
Speaker 4: There's a guy well known in our community that we're working with.
• 7:08
Speaker 4: His name is traveling robert, and traveling robert goes on these incredible cross-country journeys and he puts out these videos that are sometimes hours in length, and now he can say you like this trip, take this trip and adventure genie, with a single link and we'll populate it into your trip and you could follow along getting rid of the stuff you don't like, adding things that he may not have done in his trip I want to go.
• 7:35
Speaker 1: I want to go back to the beach trip, if you don't mind, for just a second, and the fact that you know I want to hit all these beaches along the east coast over there.
• 7:42
Speaker 1: Does it drill it down to?
• 7:43
Speaker 1: I want to hit all these beaches along the East Coast over there.
• 7:44
Speaker 1: Does it drill it down to?
• 7:45
Speaker 1: I want to take a shower.
• 7:46
Speaker 1: Does it have restroom facilities?
• 7:49
Speaker 1: Are there places to eat along the way?
• 7:52
Speaker 1: Do they offer food trucks or something?
• 7:54
Speaker 1: That kind of thing?
• 7:56
  Speaker 4: Anything and everything.
• 7:58
Speaker 4: If you want to rough it, we'll learn that the more you use the tool, we'll know that that's the type of camping you like to do and we'll make sure that there are facilities there for you that are comfortable for you.
• 8:11
Speaker 4: If you're self-contained, it's not so important, so we won't highlight that as much.
• 8:19
Speaker 4: If we knew that you wanted to stop at the best food truck locations, we'd automatically include that in your itinerary, including a link to them, so that you can go and do more research on your own.
• 8:31
Speaker 4: And here's the coolest feature.
• 8:34
Speaker 4: One of the coolest features that we just added there's I don't know if you guys are familiar with a company called open roads.
• 8:41
Speaker 4: Open roads is a discount fuel aggregator.
• 8:47
Speaker 4: So basically they work with it's like kind of a fleet management kind of system and what they do is they buy fuel subscriptions in bulk from the truck stops.
• 9:01
Speaker 4: The big diesel operator Loves and TA and things like that, and what they do is they offer their users $0.30, $0.40, $0.50 a gallon discount on diesel.
• 9:13
Speaker 4: And if you're driving a big RV with 100, 150 or more gallon fuel capacity, that's a big difference, that $0.30, $0.40, $0.50 discount.
• 9:24
Speaker 4: We have a partnership with them, so that's automatically built difference at 30, 40, 50 cents.
• 9:26
  Speaker 4: Yes, uh, discount.
• 9:26
Speaker 4: We have a partnership with them so that's automatically built into adventure genie.
• 9:29
Speaker 4: As you're planning your trip, you can make sure you're stopping at those open roads affiliated locations.
• 9:35
Speaker 4: We're actually at a truck stop literally right now because we're on our way to lewisburg, west virginia, for a big newmar uh, a rally for this week and we pulled over at a truck stop to do this.
• 9:46
Speaker 4: But huge savings along the way.
• 9:48
Speaker 4: That in and of itself.
• 9:49
Speaker 4: Honestly, just a couple of days ago we fueled up our coach and we saved 50 bucks using the Open Roads integration.
• 9:58
Speaker 4: There's your $50 for Adventure Genie, right there.
• 10:01
Speaker 2: Hey Scott, let me ask you, let's go back to Key West.
• 10:03
  Speaker 2: I don't have a lot of time.
• 10:05
Speaker 2: I can't talk my wife into flying into the key west airport and I don't want to make that 16 hour drive from where we are in texas.
• 10:12
Speaker 2: Can can I fly into fort lauderdale?
• 10:16
Speaker 2: Make arrangements to rent an rv there to drive down to key west and back?
• 10:21
Speaker 2: 100 yep hundred percent, yep.
• 10:24
Speaker 4: So with our integration with RV Share, which is an RV rental company, it's kind of like an Airbnb, where folks that own RVs they put them into the system.
• 10:34
Speaker 4: When they're not using it.
• 10:35
Speaker 4: You could rent it through this aggregator known as RV Share, and that's a great use case.
• 10:40
Speaker 4: Fly to Fort Lauderdale, you start your trip.
• 10:44
Speaker 4: So basically an adventure genie, you'd be saying I'm taking a trip from fort lauderdale to the us and when you get to fort lauderdale you say find me an rv.
• 10:53
Speaker 4: You enter your criteria how many people you want it to be able to sleep.
• 10:57
Speaker 4: By the way, usually two is the most comfortable.
• 11:01
Speaker 4: If you haven't been RVing Now.
• 11:03
Speaker 4: Drink, if you're having folks over for drinks, maybe six is cool.
• 11:07
Speaker 4: That's the old adage six for drinks, four for dinner and two for sleeping.
• 11:12
Speaker 4: But you would put in your criteria and you'd get a list of the inventory and right through Adventure Genie, you can book your RV in Fort Lauderdale.
• 11:22
Speaker 4: We can show the stops along the way.
• 11:24
Speaker 4: You might want to stop at Marathon.
• 11:26
Speaker 4: There's some great campgrounds in Marathon, florida, which is about the halfway point from Fort Lauderdale to Key West, and again, all in one you could book your RV, you could book your campgrounds, you'll find all the cool places to go fishing and deep sea fishing and and uh, the local spots to get your stone, uh, crab claws, uh, yep, all from within I was waiting for you to say yeah, but you can stop there and get your crabs.
• 11:55
Speaker 1: I mean crab claws.
• 11:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, I got that, that's why there's only two for sleeping there's only two for sleeping.
• 12:01
Speaker 1: That's why we've got it limited there.
• 12:03
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you know, I, I'm I'm thrilled at learning all of this.
• 12:08
Speaker 1: My only hesitation is I I don't have a lot of self confidence in backing an rv into an rv spot.
• 12:17
Speaker 1: So if I get there to the cab ground, can I tell the campground operator hey, can you help me back the thing in?
• 12:25
  Speaker 4: better than that.
• 12:26
Speaker 4: I've got a better solution for you uh, rv share.
• 12:30
Speaker 4: They will do it for you.
• 12:32
Speaker 4: They will either deliver an rv to a campground and in some campgrounds they have rvs that are permanently parked there, so all you got to do is drive up.
• 12:42
Speaker 4: So in that scenario you might not fly.
• 12:45
Speaker 4: Well, you might still fly into fort lauderdale and then just drive a car out the key west and you might.
• 12:49
Speaker 4: And with rv share they could have a an rv parked either full time in that campground or they would have it delivered there like a marathon, like you're talking about halfway down.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: So I, I, I can just admit it's the Linggels RV stop all across America and you would have your own driver for your coach and you know you'd be like you know a celebrity.
• 13:15
Speaker 1: Oh, here comes Scott and his family.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: Get out of the way, because this guy's got it down.
• 13:20
  Speaker 4: Here we go.
• 13:20
Speaker 4: It's the rock star bus.
• 13:23
Speaker 2: Hey, scott we got one of our listeners that's watching.
• 13:27
Speaker 2: Candice is wanting to know, like two women, if two women wanted to take a trip.
• 13:32
Speaker 2: Is there something that they can put in criteria as far as safety concerns?
• 13:38
Speaker 1: Stay away from Don Armstrong.
• 13:39
  Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, 100%.
• 13:43
Speaker 4: So when you configure one time only, you will tell us what type of camper or RV or coach or rig or whatever term you want to use your driving, and then we will provide RV safe routing instructions to make sure you're not going under low bridges or going through tunnels that you may or may not fit.
• 14:04
Speaker 4: And true story, like literally just 30 minutes ago, we were going through the tolls of West Virginia and you can't fit an RV in every single toll lane.
• 14:17
Speaker 4: You have to go all the way over to the right.
• 14:19
Speaker 4: So we would make sure that you're safely taking a route that's going to accommodate you and you're not going to get into trouble.
• 14:28
Speaker 2: Very good, so you're in your RV.
• 14:31
Speaker 4: We are, I just realized.
• 14:33
Speaker 4: Looking at behind you, here's something cool.
• 14:36
Speaker 4: We have Starlink good old Starlink sitting on the roof, and so we have full-time Internet.
• 14:42
Speaker 4: Internet though, even while we're driving at 60, 70 miles an hour, we're still getting incredible like 100, 150 megabit a second streamed into the, into the coach.
• 14:54
Speaker 1: So, yeah, we're full-time connected well, scott, this is absolutely fascinating.
• 14:58
  Speaker 1: Is it adventuregeniecom?
• 15:01
Speaker 4: it is adventuregeniecom and we have that sale running right now.
• 15:04
Speaker 4: And and yeah, thanks for seeing you guys.
• 15:08
Speaker 1: Hey, and the next time you're stopping through the Houston area, be sure and stop.
• 15:13
Speaker 1: Give us a call and we'll climb on the rig and we'll hitch a ride with you out to Las Vegas or wherever you want to go.
• 15:20
Speaker 1: We'll just go with you.
• 15:22
  Speaker 4: Sounds great.
• 15:23
Speaker 4: We'd love to have you at least for drinks.
• 15:25
Speaker 1: Absolutely, there you go.
• 15:26
Speaker 4: There's only two for sleeping.
• 15:27
  Speaker 1: God bless, scott.

  Speaker 1: Thanks so much.

• 18:00
Speaker 3: They launched off the starting line.
• 18:02
Speaker 3: By the time they got 1,000 feet it was pouring rain.
• 18:05
Speaker 3: It was sunny on the starting line, it was pouring rain on the finish line.
• 18:08
  Speaker 1: Weird.
• 18:08
Speaker 3: It was really weird, but there's a big talk about that.
• 18:11
  Speaker 3: You got Indy.
• 18:13
Speaker 3: Indy is a worldwide technology raceway, a gateway in Madison, illinois.
• 18:17
  Speaker 3: It's a 260 lapper.
• 18:18
Speaker 3: Nascar is in Michigan, like we talked about.
• 18:23
Speaker 3: And then you've got Hulk Hogan.
• 18:25
Speaker 3: That's right, brother, he's going to be there with his car, his beer.
• 18:28
Speaker 3: He'll be drinking beer in the car.
• 18:29
Speaker 3: Don't be drinking and driving.
• 18:30
Speaker 3: You've got Craftsman Truck today at Michigan.

• 18:35
Speaker 3: Formula One is going June 15th, so it's next weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix.
• 18:41
Speaker 1: So there you go.
• 18:42
Speaker 1: What kind of ugliness is going on with IndyCar and Roger Penske and all that?
• 18:46
Speaker 3: Well, there's a lot of controversy, Not just IndyCar, but a lot of it's NASCAR too.
• 18:50
Speaker 1: Well, I know, but I'm focusing in on IndyCar with you.
• 18:52
Speaker 1: Know, Roger, Some people are calling for his resignation.
• 18:56
Speaker 1: For the head of IndyCar because he's head of that, head of the Indy Speedway.
• 19:02
Speaker 3: He's got his own race car team.
• 19:05
Speaker 1: So they're calling him to step aside and let other people.
• 19:08
Speaker 1: You know, Conflict of interest is what they're saying.
• 19:10
Speaker 3: Well, you know, the man had a vision, he had the money to do it.
• 19:13
Speaker 3: He's buying it all up, and why not?
• 19:16
Speaker 3: He could do that.
• 19:17
Speaker 3: So if anybody's got a problem with it, buy him out.
• 19:19
Speaker 3: Well, if he's being successful, exactly.
• 19:22
  Speaker 1: He's too successful.
• 19:22
Speaker 1: I've always been impressed by Roger Penske.
• 19:25
  Speaker 1: I think that he's a straight-up guy.
• 19:27
Speaker 1: I think that he's got some people working for him that are total dummies, but other than that and I don't think that they're doing it maliciously for the most part I think that they're doing it because they didn't keep up with what it's supposed to be, what the rules say, and they made a mistake.
• 19:43
Speaker 3: Well, they're trying to change the rules to fit their own agendas.
• 19:45
Speaker 3: Oh, there's that too.
• 19:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all it is.
• 19:48
Speaker 3: So, anyways, and still enjoy racing.
• 19:50
Speaker 3: It's just a matter of what you want to look at.
• 19:55
Speaker 1: All right, Mr Mars, this week in auto history.
• 19:56
  Speaker 2: We like that.
• 19:56
Speaker 2: Yes, sir, oh, yes sir.
• 19:58
Speaker 1: Got lots of things going on there was a pause there that I'm thinking what in the world have I done something wrong?
• 20:02
Speaker 2: No, I was checking a message over here and making sure Candice got her answer From Scott.
• 20:09
Speaker 3: Hold on one second.
• 20:10
  Speaker 3: I jumped ahead.
• 20:11
Speaker 3: I apologize for that, you're fine, you're right.
• 20:13
Speaker 2: So, anyway, this week in auto history.
• 20:16
Speaker 2: So one of the things that happened this week In 2009 is when General Motors filed For chapter 11 bankruptcy.
• 20:20
Speaker 2: Now, this was one of the things that happened this week in 2009 is when General Motors filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
• 20:21
Speaker 2: Now, this was one of the largest industrial failures in US history Massive debt, declining sales, general global financial crisis and Mary Barra's salary Well, no, she wasn't there yet, but GM got a $50 billion federal buyout Now, part of the restructuring on the graph that we've got here.
• 20:41
Speaker 2: A lot of things happen.
• 20:42
  Speaker 1: A bailout, not a buyout.
• 20:43
Speaker 2: Oh did I say buyout.
• 20:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's okay, it's a bailout Part of the restructuring.
• 20:49
Speaker 2: So this is where Pontiac went away, the Saturn went away, hummer went away.
• 20:53
Speaker 2: They did some consolidation of brands as part of that restructuring from before and then after, as part of that restructuring from before and then after, and reduced their brand holdings considerably.
• 21:05
Speaker 2: So also this week in 2012.
• 21:09
  Speaker 1: Daewoo Boy.
• 21:11
Speaker 1: Now there's a brand that I want to go buy.
• 21:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, buddy, let's go buy some.
• 21:14
Speaker 3: Daewoos, yeah on a handshake.
• 21:17
Speaker 2: In 2012, the LeMay America's Car Museum opened.
• 21:20
Speaker 2: Now this is up in Tacoma, washington, and it's showcasing one of the largest collections of automobiles.
• 21:27
Speaker 2: That was started by a private collector 165,000-square-foot facility.
• 21:31
Speaker 2: It is in Tacoma and it's got 300 vehicles in it started out as LeMays and he opened it to kind of show it off, but now they've got rotating exhibits.
• 21:42
  Speaker 2: It's a great place.
• 21:42
Speaker 2: I actually got to see part of that with Harold Gunn and I took a little detour.
• 21:47
  Speaker 1: You and Harold.
• 21:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, we were driving.
• 21:49
Speaker 2: He said, hey, look where we are, let's go see this.
• 21:51
Speaker 2: Anyway, it was great.
• 21:52
Speaker 2: If you ever get up close to it, check it out.
• 21:54
  Speaker 2: Where is it?
• 21:54
  Speaker 2: Tacoma?
• 21:55
  Speaker 1: Washington.
• 21:56
Speaker 2: Tacoma, Also in 1896, Henry Ford was testing his first vehicle.
• 22:02
Speaker 2: Now, this was a quadricycle in Detroit and it's self-propelled quadricycle through the streets.
• 22:11
Speaker 2: It was powered by a two-cylinder engine, lightweight, four-wheel machine.
• 22:13
Speaker 2: This was his first vehicle and this is kind of what got him started off into the automotive industry.
• 22:20
Speaker 1: Is that Henry driving it?
• 22:21
Speaker 3: Yes, Tub it out.
• 22:23
Speaker 1: Huh, well, it looks like he's got a little bit more weight there than he did when he died.
• 22:27
  Speaker 2: Well, he's a little earlier.
• 22:28
Speaker 2: He hasn't starved yet.
• 22:29
Speaker 2: So in 1909, the first event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Now, it was not an Indianapolis 500 type race, it was not.
• 22:38
Speaker 2: It was actually a gas-filled balloon race and happened on a Saturday, more than two months before the Oval was actually completed had 40,000 people attended this, nine balloons lifted off for racing and a balloon by the name of Universal City won the race, landing 382 miles away after the wind got a hold of it.
• 23:03
Speaker 2: Also this week, in 1925, the Chrysler Corporation was founded.
• 23:08
Speaker 2: Walter Chrysler established the Chrysler Corporation by transforming the Maxwell Motor Company and he took it and turned it into a major automobile company.
• 23:20
Speaker 2: Chrysler is where it headed Now.
• 23:22
Speaker 2: The new corporation brought in new vehicles, advanced engineering and, of course, brought in the high-compression engine, and so that's where they got into the performance and it started out.
• 23:33
Speaker 2: And they went out and bought Dodge, desoto and Plymouth to form the whole corporation.
• 23:37
Speaker 2: Got a hemi in it, got a hemi in it Again.
• 23:39
  Speaker 2: So in 1932.
• 23:41
Speaker 2: I like the knickers he's wearing yes, buddy.
• 23:43
Speaker 2: The US government enacted a federal gasoline tax of one cent per gallon as part of the Revenue Act of 1932.
• 23:50
Speaker 2: Now, this is the first federal gasoline tax and it was aimed to generate funds during the Great Depression.
• 23:57
Speaker 2: It was going to be a temporary tax, but it laid the groundwork for future highway funding.
• 24:01
Speaker 2: No tax that's ever been implemented by the government's ever been taken out.
• 24:06
Speaker 2: So that was this week in automotive history.
• 24:09
Speaker 1: Well, you were talking about Mr Chrysler.
• 24:11

• 26:10
Speaker 1: But Ram CEO Tim Kaniskas thank you.
• 26:13
Speaker 1: God made the Hemi's return a priority when he came back to the brand in December after Stellantis CEO Carl Tavares resigned.
