Speaker 2: of what I do.
• 0:05
  Speaker 1: I don't mean like, I don't mean like keep track
• 0:07
Speaker 1: of what you ate in terms of like, hey you're
• 0:08
Speaker 1: eating too much. I mean like the good shit in
• 0:11
Speaker 1: our house. She's watching like you had the last Eminem
• 0:16
  Speaker 1: packet that's mine.
• 0:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, we do fight over Eminem's, the peanut kind. We
• 0:19
Speaker 3: fight over candy a lot. My wife and I yo yo, uh.
• 0:23
Speaker 3: We should talk about this because a lot of people
• 0:25
Speaker 3: don't know. But it was Sinco de Mayo yesterday. Yes,
• 0:29
Speaker 3: you were fasting, so you didn't participate in Cinco de Maya.
• 0:32
Speaker 1: What did you do? What did you do?
• 0:34
  Speaker 4: So?
• 0:34
Speaker 3: Casa Vega is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in
• 0:38
Speaker 3: the Sherman Oaks area right and you know, nobody can
• 0:42
Speaker 3: go to restaurants right now. But they had a little
• 0:45
Speaker 3: drive through going on where you can get you know,
• 0:47
Speaker 3: tacos and and and beans and rice and you know
• 0:52
Speaker 3: whatever was on the menu and maas and margarita's.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: How do they give you the margarita? They brought it.
• 0:59
Speaker 3: They put it in a half gallon pitcher that doesn't
• 1:03
Speaker 3: not even a pitcher. It's like a half gallon, you know,
• 1:05
Speaker 3: like you put milk in it. You know, you get
• 1:06
Speaker 3: milk and it's a half gallon bottom jar whatever it is.
• 1:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, they put it in that. Wow, and we got
• 1:13
  Speaker 2: three of them.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Oh my god, did you get hammer?
• 1:16
Speaker 2: We only have one left.
• 1:21
Speaker 1: You guys had a party over there.
• 1:22
Speaker 2: We drank a gallon of margarita yesterday.
• 1:24
Speaker 1: Oh my god, delish, I'm so jealous. I literally this
• 1:29
Speaker 1: this this fast thing we're on. It's like all you
• 1:31
Speaker 1: eat is this thin soup. It looks like it looks
• 1:35
Speaker 1: like gruel, remember that thing that Oliver wanted more of.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: That's what it looks like. Yeah, it looks like or
• 1:41
Speaker 1: like what they what they'd slop on a pirate ship,
• 1:44
Speaker 1: what they'd serve you for dinner. That's what it looks like.
• 1:46
  Speaker 4: Right.
• 1:46
Speaker 2: They have like a little bit of celery and like
• 1:48
Speaker 2: a little bit of carrot.
• 1:49
Speaker 1: It looks like cartoonishly watered down soup. That's what we're
• 1:53
  Speaker 1: allowed to eat.
• 1:53
  Speaker 2: But it's it's white colored.
• 1:55
Speaker 1: No, it's the color of whatever flavor they think it is.
• 1:58
Speaker 1: It's like tomato is like tomato colored, but it's just
• 2:00
Speaker 1: got little specs of crap in it.
• 2:02
  Speaker 2: Wow.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: But just you wait, Donald, We're gonna you're gonna check
• 2:05
Speaker 1: in when we record on Friday, and you're gonna you're
• 2:08
Speaker 1: gonna say, wow, you look even thinner.
• 2:10
Speaker 2: I want to I want to fast.
• 2:11
Speaker 1: But I shall we sing? Should we sing?
• 2:13
Speaker 2: Yeah? Sure? Why not?
• 2:15
Speaker 1: I'd like to count in today because I realized I
• 2:17
Speaker 1: haven't counted in a long time. I've been giving it
• 2:19
Speaker 1: to you. I've been giving it to Bill Lawrence, our guests,
• 2:21
Speaker 1: giving it to Judy as a present, and and I
• 2:24
Speaker 1: just feel feeling left out.
• 2:26
Speaker 2: Well, Zach, I want you to give it to me.
• 2:27
Speaker 1: Go ahead, okay, Dan, hit it. I like a little
• 2:29
Speaker 1: you know what, Wait before you hit it, Dan. You know,
• 2:31
Speaker 1: I always thought it was so cool when DJs on
• 2:34
Speaker 1: the radio do the thing they called talk up, like
• 2:36
Speaker 1: they know exactly when the words come in and they
• 2:41
Speaker 1: stop talking right at the I believe DJ is called
• 2:43
Speaker 1: talking up a song right right, so they they I'm
• 2:47
Speaker 1: sure they have it labeled somewhere, like the lyrics start
• 2:49
Speaker 1: at five seconds in or something. And I always thought
• 2:51
Speaker 1: it was so smooth. So I'd like to talk up
• 2:53
  Speaker 1: this song.
• 2:54
Speaker 2: Go ahead, do it?
• 2:55
Speaker 1: Okay, here we go. So I'm not gonna count in. Dan,
• 2:58
Speaker 1: I'm just gonna talk it up. I'm nervous now, I'm nervous.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Now here we go, Welcome everybody to fake doctors, real friends.
• 3:08
  Speaker 1: We're so glad you're joining us. And here's a song
• 3:11
  Speaker 1: by Charlie Blooth.
• 3:12
Speaker 2: Do here's some stories about show.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: We made about a bunch of docs.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: And said, here's the stories natural.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: So gather around here, yether here Hey. Lots of talk
• 3:39
Speaker 1: on the social media about you know what I mean?
• 3:42
Speaker 2: And uh and you is it? Is it that bad?
• 3:45
Speaker 1: No, it's it's just people just need to accept it.
• 3:48
Speaker 1: It's part of your way of.
• 3:50
Speaker 2: Speaking, it is part of mine.
• 3:51
Speaker 1: I'm just concerned though about those who are doing it
• 3:53
Speaker 1: as a drinking game, that that that we're gonna turn
• 3:55
  Speaker 1: people into alcoholics.
• 3:57
Speaker 3: I'm up the I think we should keep the things,
• 3:59
Speaker 3: but if you don't want to keep the things, we
• 4:01
Speaker 3: could we could remove the dings.
• 4:02
Speaker 1: And also, I heard, by the way, Dan, that you
• 4:04
Speaker 1: missed some I saw on Twitter some people were like
• 4:06
Speaker 1: that dings were hilarious, but you guys missed like four.
• 4:09
Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Dan, what was the total
• 4:13
Speaker 1: I mean of the ones you caught? What was the
• 4:15
  Speaker 1: total nine.
• 4:17
Speaker 2: That's not a lot for an hour, dude.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: Bye. By the way, that's when you were trying not
• 4:21
Speaker 1: to say it, dude.
• 4:22
Speaker 2: But but I was also it was me not it
• 4:25
Speaker 2: was me using it as slang, though at that point
• 4:29
Speaker 2: it wasn't me just saying, you know what I mean.
• 4:31
Speaker 2: After everything I said, somebody brought to my attention that
• 4:35
Speaker 2: you say, you know a lot. I'm just gonna put
• 4:36
  Speaker 2: it out there.
• 4:37
Speaker 1: Really, I'm trying to shift the ship to me. Listen, listen,
• 4:42
Speaker 1: I do I listen. We all have. We all if
• 4:45
Speaker 1: you record someone for multiple hours, you're gonna hear some
• 4:48
Speaker 1: of the things that they say when they speak. I'm
• 4:51
Speaker 1: sure we all have our own tics. Yeah, I'm sure
• 4:54
Speaker 1: you listening right now judging us, you probably have some
• 4:58
  Speaker 1: vocal go tos.
• 5:03
Speaker 3: The ones that the ones that kind of get on
• 5:05
Speaker 3: my nerves are like when people say I mean all
• 5:07
Speaker 3: the time before they say anything.
• 5:09
  Speaker 2: I mean, it's like no, I.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: Get it, or like, I mean, I hear you say
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: like a lot.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: We all say like a lot.
• 5:15
Speaker 1: I know, but the young folks really use like a lot.
• 5:18
Speaker 2: Yeah. That that's the one that gets me.
• 5:21
  Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, I mean, I'm literally the wrong
• 5:25
Speaker 1: use of literally is also a bit of a pet
• 5:28
  Speaker 1: peeve that's abused.
• 5:30
Speaker 2: You literally don't like that.
• 5:32
Speaker 1: I literally literally get annoyed when people overuse literally. Should
• 5:37
Speaker 1: we get into the episode.
• 5:38
Speaker 2: Donald, let's do it. I love it.
• 5:42
Speaker 1: I'm just gonna jump right in and say, holy shit,
• 5:46
Speaker 1: you are so good in this episode. I forgot how
• 5:49
Speaker 1: Turk centric it was, so it is a Turk episode
• 5:54
Speaker 1: it is. It's a very Turk episode.
• 5:57
Speaker 2: Do some great moments.
• 5:58
Speaker 1: I'm not just saying this because I love you so much,
• 6:01
Speaker 1: but I do, But holy shit, you are so good
• 6:04
Speaker 1: in this episode. And I multiple things. There's the there's
• 6:08
Speaker 1: we could spend a whole episode of this podcast on
• 6:11
Speaker 1: that gospel fantasy. We're gonna spend plenty of time on it,
• 6:14
Speaker 1: don't get me wrong. But also you're you're dramatic acting
• 6:18
Speaker 1: at the end when you're all upset, the scene with
• 6:20
Speaker 1: you and Judy on the roof, you running to the park,
• 6:22
Speaker 1: I just thought you did really really good work.
• 6:24
Speaker 2: Oh you're a sweetheart, you know.
• 6:27
Speaker 3: Thank you first of all. Second of all, this was
• 6:29
Speaker 3: one of my This isn't necessarily one of my favorite episodes,
• 6:32
Speaker 3: but there's so many really cool things that happened in
• 6:35
Speaker 3: this episode that I got to be a part of.
• 6:37
Speaker 3: One was obviously the gospel choir thing. That was a
• 6:40
Speaker 3: lot of fun. One of my favorite movies of all
• 6:42
Speaker 3: time is Coming to America too, And also Which Way
• 6:45
Speaker 3: Is Up? And Which Way Is Up? Richard Pryor plays
• 6:48
Speaker 3: a reverend in a church and in Coming to America.
• 6:51
Speaker 3: Ursiney o' hall's portrayal of the reverend is amazing as well.
• 6:56
Speaker 3: And so if any if I was doing anything in
• 7:00
Speaker 3: that scene, I was stealing from the two of them,
• 7:03
  Speaker 3: because I just.
• 7:03
Speaker 1: Get right to it.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: Amazing, Let's get right to it.
• 7:06
Speaker 1: You are so fucking funny in that and I well,
• 7:09
Speaker 1: I watched it like multiple times just because that scene.
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: I think it's one of the I honestly, I know
• 7:13
Speaker 1: we're just started this, but I think it's one of
• 7:14
Speaker 1: the best fantasies in Scrubs history, solely because of your performance.
• 7:18
Speaker 1: And I know that you're doing an homage to your
• 7:20
Speaker 1: favorite one of our favorite movies, Coming to America, but
• 7:23
Speaker 1: you really made it your own. I mean, I just
• 7:28
Speaker 1: was dying laughing. The Jerry curl, the the swing into
• 7:33
Speaker 1: the arms, the padding of the forehead. We gonna we're.
• 7:37
Speaker 2: Gonna what you wanna, cut them open, and then we're
• 7:40
Speaker 2: gonna stow them right back to get you.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: I remember that day genuinely cracking up, and you were
• 7:46
Speaker 1: just going for it, man. You were you were literally
• 7:48
Speaker 1: sweating your ass on hot as and you were just being.
• 7:52
Speaker 3: But I wasn't sweating my ass off. So you kind
• 7:54
Speaker 3: of used literally in the way that you hate it. Okay,
• 7:59
Speaker 3: because I was literally sweating, but my ass didn't fall off, right, Okay,
• 8:03
  Speaker 3: there it is.
• 8:04
  Speaker 2: There, it is.
• 8:05
Speaker 1: It is. It is literally not possible in a literal
• 8:09
Speaker 1: sense for someone's ass to be sweat off. I believe.
• 8:12
Speaker 1: I believe that's true. Joelle, Please look that up.
• 8:16
Speaker 2: I had a lot of fun doing that scene. Man.
• 8:18
Speaker 3: The one of the great things was looking out into
• 8:20
Speaker 3: the audience also and seeing, you know how background really
• 8:24
Speaker 3: enjoyed themselves, and then also seeing familiar faces in the background.
• 8:28
Speaker 2: Colonel Doctor for the first time is in this episode.
• 8:31
Speaker 1: Wait, before you're jumping around, let's just stay focused on you.
• 8:33
Speaker 1: We can't go to curl doctor Wells in the background.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: I know, but yes, okay, sorry, but I didn't want
• 8:38
Speaker 1: to go to curl doctor yet because it is his
• 8:40
Speaker 1: first appearance in a Scrubs episode, he shows up in
• 8:43
Speaker 1: the background of Sarah's scene first.
• 8:46
Speaker 2: Also Neil Flynn in the background of this episode clapping.
• 8:50
Speaker 1: Yes, that was funny, and what about me when I
• 8:52
  Speaker 1: get the spirit.
• 8:53
Speaker 2: And then you catch in the Holy Ghost? Dude, that
• 8:57
Speaker 2: freaked me out. The first time I ever saw that,
• 8:59
Speaker 2: I'm gonna be in real life. My first time ever
• 9:02
Speaker 2: seeing you. I saw listen. I went to church with
• 9:06
Speaker 2: my babysitter. Was like a midnight mass type thing, and
• 9:10
Speaker 2: we went to church and we saw, first of all,
• 9:13
  Speaker 2: people around.
• 9:13
Speaker 3: Us are catching the spirit, right, catching the Holy Ghost,
• 9:16
Speaker 3: and they're losing it. And I was like, all right,
• 9:19
Speaker 3: I'm safe. I'm here with my babysitter.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: I know she's not going to catch the Holy Spirit.
• 9:25
Speaker 2: She catches the bad boy.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, So how did she start
• 9:30
  Speaker 1: acting like.
• 9:32
Speaker 2: She just out of nowhere? She just started dancing right
• 9:35
Speaker 2: like you did, like your character does, like JD does.
• 9:38
Speaker 2: She started dancing and then she started praising God, which
• 9:42
Speaker 2: is what you know as a youth when you don't
• 9:44
Speaker 2: see stuff like that. Like, my grandmother was Piscopalian, so
• 9:47
Speaker 2: we had to go to Piscopalian church and stuff like that.
• 9:50
Speaker 2: And it wasn't like that, you know what I mean.
• 9:52
Speaker 2: Even though it was all black, it wasn't a Baptist church,
• 9:54
Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And when you go to
• 9:56
Speaker 2: when you go to a Baptist church, you know they
• 9:59
  Speaker 2: put it in.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: I'd love to do that.
• 10:01
Speaker 2: By the way, Oh, it's amazing the choir.
• 10:04
Speaker 1: I would love to have the experience of going to
• 10:07
Speaker 1: a church like the one we're representing in the show.
• 10:09
Speaker 1: I just think it would be amazing. I've never seen
• 10:11
Speaker 1: that in real life, obviously, I've seen it on TV
• 10:14
Speaker 1: and on video of people speaking in tongues and and
• 10:17
Speaker 1: no judgments. I'm not whatever works for you, that's amazing.
• 10:20
Speaker 1: I like you said, as a child, I was always like,
• 10:22
Speaker 1: oh my God, what is what is happening? And it
• 10:26
Speaker 1: was so shocking to see someone reacting like that.
• 10:28
Speaker 2: To get touched by the spirit of God.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: I like the idea that JD you know, got the
• 10:33
Speaker 1: spirit when you were such a good minister, that it just.
• 10:36
Speaker 2: Came to him, right, the music got into him and
• 10:39
  Speaker 2: and and.
• 10:39
  Speaker 1: I don't know, or I just improved that. I don't recall,
• 10:42
  Speaker 1: do you remember.
• 10:43
  Speaker 2: I don't know if it was scripted. I think I
• 10:45
Speaker 2: think you might have improved it.
• 10:46
Speaker 1: I think I just thought I said to Bill, like,
• 10:48
Speaker 1: oh my god, I should get the spirit. I think
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: that's funny.
• 10:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, amazing, amazing man, great scene the choir was.
• 10:55
Speaker 1: The choir was amazing. Although they although we do we
• 10:58
Speaker 1: do have two of them that that spike the lens
• 11:00
Speaker 1: and wave at the camera around eight sixteen. I don't
• 11:02
Speaker 1: know if you caught that they got They may have
• 11:04
Speaker 1: caught the spirit too and the decided to wave to
• 11:06
Speaker 1: the lens. But uh, but they were. They were amazing.
• 11:10
Speaker 1: And by the way, am I mistaken or did you?
• 11:13
Speaker 1: Or did you when you were just riffing. One of
• 11:14
Speaker 1: the things that was you were so great when when
• 11:17
Speaker 1: they would when you would be in your element and
• 11:19
Speaker 1: they would just tell you to go whether that could
• 11:20
Speaker 1: be the dance, the famous dance you did that that
• 11:23
Speaker 1: that everyone always talks about, or or so many things,
• 11:25
Speaker 1: but in this moment when you were just riffing and
• 11:28
Speaker 1: being that preacher, I mean, you just got lost in
• 11:30
Speaker 1: it and it was so amazing to watch you do that.
• 11:32
Speaker 1: But I remember that when you can what's the name
• 11:34
Speaker 1: of the song we sing in this song?
• 11:38
  Speaker 2: Remember the song?
• 11:39
Speaker 1: And they kept it in and thought that was so funny.
• 11:42
Speaker 2: It was supposed to be something like quah, let us
• 11:45
Speaker 2: let us you know, uh let us uh bless the
• 11:49
Speaker 2: congregation with the song you know, Christ the Lord right, right,
• 11:54
Speaker 2: And I remember getting down back quile what's the name
• 11:59
Speaker 2: of a song? Was second?
• 12:01
Speaker 1: But you stated character. It was so funny. You know,
• 12:04
Speaker 1: it was such a good lesson early on in Scrubs
• 12:06
Speaker 1: that if we stayed in character, a lot of that
• 12:09
Speaker 1: stuff could if it was funny, would stay in right.
• 12:11
Speaker 1: And and that was a perfect example of you doing
• 12:14
Speaker 1: that and Bill going in the edit room like, oh,
• 12:16
  Speaker 1: that's funny, that's staying yeah.
• 12:18
Speaker 2: Yeah. So so this whole episode, it was written by
• 12:24
  Speaker 2: deb Ford Them.
• 12:25
Speaker 3: Deb Ford Them that's right, who also wrote the musical episode, right.
• 12:28
Speaker 1: Was the one of the main writers on the musical episode,
• 12:30
Speaker 1: and I think actually participated in writing a lot of
• 12:33
Speaker 1: lyrics for the famous musical episode, that's right. And Jeff
• 12:37
Speaker 1: Melman was the director, And I just learned a little
• 12:40
Speaker 1: trivia that he directed some of the sitcom you.
• 12:42
Speaker 2: Did the xes, Yeah, I did, I did.
• 12:47
Speaker 1: I do you not put two and two together?
• 12:49
Speaker 2: I did not remember that?
• 12:51
Speaker 1: Do you remember? Do you remember?
• 12:53
Speaker 2: I do know? Jeff Melman has been now that you
• 12:55
Speaker 2: have said that, Well.
• 12:56
Speaker 1: He only directed one episode of Scrubs and it was
• 12:58
Speaker 1: twenty years ago, so you're okay for not remembering that.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: But I don't know if you put two and two together.
• 13:01
Speaker 1: You also directed your sitcom The X.
• 13:03
Speaker 3: I think we even talked about him directing an episode
• 13:06
Speaker 3: of Scrubs when he directed the episode of Right the
• 13:08
  Speaker 3: Exes anyway.
• 13:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, and Kristin Johnston, who you did The Exes with,
• 13:12
Speaker 1: I bought her house. That's where I live.
• 13:15
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 13:16
Speaker 3: Not only that, but you guys also did Twelfth Night together.
• 13:20
Speaker 1: We did Twelfth Night together in Central Park at the
• 13:22
Speaker 1: Della Court and you and that's when she said, Hey,
• 13:26
Speaker 1: I want to move out of La I'm over it.
• 13:28
Speaker 1: Do you have any interest? And I was just at
• 13:30
Speaker 1: the time when I was starting to think about buying
• 13:33
Speaker 1: my first house. And what's funny is that she was
• 13:36
Speaker 1: quite an entertainer. She threw a lot of bashes at
• 13:40
Speaker 1: the house, and so over the years when I've told
• 13:42
Speaker 1: people that I bought the house from her, they're always like, ooh,
• 13:45
Speaker 1: I've been so fucked up in that in your house.
• 13:47
  Speaker 2: Wow. Wow.
• 13:49
Speaker 3: Well she's now sober and she's written a wonderful book
• 13:52
Speaker 3: called Guts, which is out on the market right now.
• 13:54
Speaker 3: And if you guys are listening and want a good
• 13:58
Speaker 3: read in the voice of Kristin Johnson. She also does
• 14:02
Speaker 3: the audiobook, check it out. It's very, very, very revealing
• 14:06
Speaker 3: and she's very open about her addiction.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: And yeah, you get and I've read the book and
• 14:11
Speaker 1: it's amazing and you should get it. And when you're
• 14:13
Speaker 1: hearing about some of her partying, just know it was
• 14:15
  Speaker 1: happening in my.
• 14:18
Speaker 2: Yo. Somebody got mad, dude, you oh man, somebody got
• 14:22
Speaker 2: mad that I ruined that joke or that not the joke,
• 14:25
Speaker 2: the bit of trivia. I know.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: On one of the last episodes, I said I was
• 14:29
Speaker 1: gonna do a trivia for Donald involving the breakfast Club,
• 14:33
Speaker 1: and he ruined it and some guy and some guy
• 14:35
Speaker 1: wrote on Twitter I was legit excited for a bit
• 14:38
Speaker 1: of trivia and Donald did indeed ruin it. We gotta
• 14:43
Speaker 1: filter in some more trivia to this show. Absolutely, so okay,
• 14:46
Speaker 1: dead forward, Jeff Melman, it's a great episode. I gotta say,
• 14:50
Speaker 1: you know, they're not all this good. This was a
• 14:52
Speaker 1: darn good one. And first thing I wrote down was
• 14:55
Speaker 1: Nurse Tisdale at thirty five seconds in Yes, which is
• 14:58
Speaker 1: a oh mah to film Fast Times a Ridge on High. Now,
• 15:02
Speaker 1: some of you younger folk might not know that movie.
• 15:05
Speaker 1: You should watch it because it's a seminal eighties film.
• 15:07
Speaker 1: And I remember watching it at someone's house, far too
• 15:11
Speaker 1: young to be watching it, Like I should not have
• 15:13
Speaker 1: been watching that movie at the age I was, And
• 15:16
  Speaker 1: I remember feeling like, don't move because I don't want
• 15:19
Speaker 1: any adult to notice that I'm here and I'm watching this,
• 15:23
Speaker 1: and I probably shouldn't be watching Phoebe Kate's reveal her Bosoms. Yeah,
• 15:30
Speaker 1: do you remember when you saw that?
• 15:32
Speaker 3: I do remember when I saw that movie, And you know,
• 15:35
Speaker 3: the one thing that stuck out from that movie for
• 15:37
Speaker 3: me was Sean Penn totally awesome and his Jeff Spoccoli.
• 15:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit of trivia for you. Do you
• 15:43
Speaker 2: know who wrote that movie?
• 15:45
Speaker 1: Yes, it was Amy Heckerling, No Cameron Crowe. Amy Heckerling
• 15:50
Speaker 1: directed it, absolutely, okay, Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed.
• 15:54
Speaker 2: Clueless wrote and directed Clueless.
• 15:56
Speaker 1: Yes, So it's six degrees of Donald Faison?
• 15:58
Speaker 3: Is what your six degrees of Donald face? Forest Whitaker's
• 16:00
Speaker 3: also in that movie. He directed, Waiting to Exhale, and
• 16:03
Speaker 3: I was in it, and I remember going on the
• 16:06
Speaker 3: audition for Waiting to Exhil at the same time I
• 16:08
Speaker 3: was shooting Clueless, the movie, and I was, you know,
• 16:12
Speaker 3: Forrest and I had a little conversation about his experience
• 16:14
Speaker 3: with Amy and the reason why I got Waiting to
• 16:17
Speaker 3: Xel because I'm sure there were a bunch of people
• 16:19
Speaker 3: who auditioned for it. But Forrest told me, he was like,
• 16:21
Speaker 3: you know, I went with you because you know you're
• 16:24
Speaker 3: working with Amy, and Amy gave me my start and
• 16:27
Speaker 3: there was something that was a form of nostalgia, and
• 16:29
Speaker 3: for me, that's really cool.
• 16:30
Speaker 2: So I got to be in Waiting Exhil with.
• 16:33
Speaker 3: Whitney Houston and Labassett, Loretta, Divine, Lee, Liver Sean, I
• 16:37
Speaker 3: got to oh Man, I got to meet several actors,
• 16:39
Speaker 3: from Michael Beach to one of my favorite all time performers,
• 16:44
  Speaker 3: Gregory Hines.
• 16:45
Speaker 1: That's what I've never seen the movie. I've got to
• 16:47
Speaker 1: be artist with you.
• 16:48
Speaker 2: But you've never seen Waiting Axcel.
• 16:49
Speaker 1: No, But I'm gonna write it down because we're looking
• 16:51
Speaker 1: for quarantine movies and I do love your work.
• 16:54
Speaker 2: You should watch Wait in xhil. It's a lot of
• 16:55
  Speaker 2: fun if.
• 16:56
Speaker 1: You have a good part in it. Or should I
• 16:57
Speaker 1: need to just fast forward to your scenes.
• 16:59
Speaker 3: No, you should watch the movie. The movie is actually
• 17:01
Speaker 3: very entertaining. It's it's it's and the soundtrack is amazing.
• 17:06
Speaker 3: By the way, Holy cow, babyface, you put your foot
• 17:10
Speaker 3: in it when you made that one.
• 17:12
Speaker 1: I don't know what that means.
• 17:13
Speaker 2: It just means he puts some, he puts some.
• 17:15
Speaker 1: He did a good job.
• 17:16
Speaker 2: He put a little stroozy on it, you know, baby face,
• 17:19
Speaker 2: he's still doing his thing.
• 17:21
Speaker 1: Oh, I just haven't heard about him his name in
• 17:24
Speaker 1: the public lexicon in a long time.
• 17:26
Speaker 2: Anyway, we digressed, Let's get back here.
• 17:27
Speaker 1: Sorry, we digress. Nurse Tisdale, she's coming down doing an
• 17:31
Speaker 1: homage to Fast Times the Ridge on High. By the way,
• 17:34
Speaker 1: if you haven't seen Fast Times the Ridge My High,
• 17:35
Speaker 1: you should because it perfectly I think encapsulates a period
• 17:39
Speaker 1: of time in the eighties, and and it's a really
• 17:43
Speaker 1: really I mean it was written by Cameron Crow. I mean,
• 17:45
Speaker 1: it's a great movie. Fifty eight seconds Snoop, you know,
• 17:49
Speaker 1: showing up Snoops in a lot of this episode. Snoop
• 17:51
  Speaker 1: dogg Interurn.
• 17:53
Speaker 2: Snoop Dogg was in a lot of this show.
• 17:55
Speaker 1: I know it's funny. If you guys start looking at
• 17:57
  Speaker 1: the background, you'll.
• 17:57
Speaker 2: Say, not Snoop dog real, snoop Dogg, snoop Dogg.
• 18:00
Speaker 1: I feel see if you guys look at if you
• 18:02
Speaker 1: guys look at these episodes closely, you'll see that basically
• 18:05
Speaker 1: they're just they're just moving around the same twenty background folks.
• 18:08
Speaker 1: And there's times where it's like there'll be one scene
• 18:11
Speaker 1: and Snoops in the background, and then then we're upstairs
• 18:13
Speaker 1: and Snoops in the background. I'm like, guys, come.
• 18:15
Speaker 3: On, well he worked a lot and then yeah, but
• 18:19
Speaker 3: now we're starting to introduce new characters, so you'll see Colonel.
• 18:22
Speaker 1: Yeah Doctor one fifty one a momentous moment. Colonel Doctor
• 18:25
Speaker 1: first appearance in the background, as Bill told us on
• 18:28
Speaker 1: the last episode, named because everyone thought he looked like
• 18:33
  Speaker 1: Colonel Sanders.
• 18:34
Speaker 2: From the Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials.
• 18:36
Speaker 1: And is he still alive or did he pass I
• 18:39
Speaker 1: believe he passed away. I believe way he was an
• 18:41
Speaker 1: older fellow when we're doing this twenty years ago. By
• 18:44
Speaker 1: the way, someone clarified for me on on the social
• 18:47
Speaker 1: media interwebs that the Beard Fasse film I was trying
• 18:52
Speaker 1: to remember was Girl with the Dragon tattoo. I knew
• 18:55
Speaker 1: it was a Fincher move.
• 18:56
Speaker 2: Was Fincher? You're right?
• 18:57
Speaker 1: So I was right about it being Fincher. It's Girl
• 18:59
Speaker 1: with the Dragon to Daniel Craig is on a plane
• 19:03
Speaker 1: and the camera sort of just Dolly's past a close
• 19:07
Speaker 1: up of Beard Fasce. So thank you for the for
• 19:10
Speaker 1: the listener who helped me out with that.
• 19:12
Speaker 2: All right, we're gonna go to break, We'll be right back,
• 19:22
  Speaker 2: and we're back.
• 19:24
Speaker 1: Hey listen. I occasionally Season one would go out partying
• 19:28
Speaker 1: with you during the week. Yes, I was occasionally, Yes,
• 19:33
Speaker 1: I was feeling myself. I had never had a dollar
• 19:35
Speaker 1: in my pocket, let.
• 19:36
Speaker 2: Alone some hat television show, hit.
• 19:40
  Speaker 1: Television show, and you and I I can't. I mean,
• 19:43
Speaker 1: it's forty five years old. You can't imagine you would
• 19:46
Speaker 1: ever do this. But in our twenties we would occasionally
• 19:48
Speaker 1: go out the nights of filming.
• 19:51
Speaker 2: Occasionally, I remember we would say things like, all right, look,
• 19:54
Speaker 2: just want to do one shot?
• 19:57
Speaker 1: About just one? I'm sure everybody out there can relate
• 20:00
Speaker 1: to your friend going, how about just one?
• 20:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna do one shot hard to beat you
• 20:06
Speaker 3: hard six o'clock in the morning. If we're gone by midnight,
• 20:08
Speaker 3: we could be home by one and we still have
• 20:10
Speaker 3: a good five hours of sleep.
• 20:12
Speaker 1: Right hard cut to like at six in the morning
• 20:14
Speaker 1: when Orlando Jones is swimming.
• 20:16
Speaker 2: Oh my god, it wasn't even six. It was like
• 20:18
Speaker 2: four forty five, right, And it was the night you
• 20:22
Speaker 2: had to be at work at six and.
• 20:24
Speaker 1: I had to Did you have to go in or
• 20:25
  Speaker 1: just me?
• 20:25
Speaker 2: You didn't have to go in, so I had to
• 20:26
Speaker 2: go in, but I didn't have to be in until like, oh.
• 20:28
Speaker 1: Man, this was this is this is if you looked
• 20:31
Speaker 1: at a graph of me being irresponsible at work. This
• 20:34
Speaker 1: was the high point because I think I was in
• 20:36
Speaker 1: Orlando Jones's pool hammered at four forty five. Yeah, and
• 20:40
Speaker 1: that day I had to shoot this Fonnsie fantasy at
• 20:43
Speaker 1: three forty one that starts at three forty one. So
• 20:46
Speaker 1: when you see that Fonsie thing, not only am I hungover,
• 20:49
Speaker 1: I'm still buzzed, right right, I'm still buzzed from partying
• 20:55
  Speaker 1: with Orlando Jones.
• 20:56
  Speaker 5: Dude.
• 20:57
Speaker 3: To this day, That's still one of the most epic nights.
• 21:00
Speaker 3: I mean we've had some pretty epic nights, but well,
• 21:02
Speaker 3: because he was so young and fresh in the game and.
• 21:04
Speaker 1: I hadn't met that any stars, and I was just like,
• 21:07
Speaker 1: I can't believe, are we going to Orlando Jones' house.
• 21:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, he was fresh off of doing uh. He he
• 21:12
Speaker 2: had he had already said goodbye to the seven up
• 21:15
Speaker 2: commercials and now he had the movie that had just
• 21:17
Speaker 2: come out with him and David Duchovny and Sean Williams
• 21:21
Speaker 2: Scott called Evolution or something like that, and we were
• 21:24
  Speaker 2: all hanging out.
• 21:25
  Speaker 1: I don't know, but I was doing any Star. I
• 21:28
Speaker 1: was excited. I was just excited. I felt like, I'm
• 21:30
Speaker 1: living the Hollywood dream. I'm not waiting tables anymore. I'm
• 21:33
Speaker 1: partying with Orlando Jones and Donald.
• 21:35
Speaker 2: Fa and Dion and Deontae Gordon with.
• 21:40
Speaker 1: And Deontay Gordon, Donald's Donald's stand and slash our friend
• 21:44
Speaker 1: and uh. And then I went and did this fantasy.
• 21:46
Speaker 1: So I was just watching it because I remember that
• 21:48
Speaker 1: being in pain and it's it's a very funny fantasy.
• 21:51
Speaker 1: So i'm i'm, i'm. I was grateful this many years later,
• 21:53
Speaker 1: I did ruin a moment for the fans because that's
• 21:55
  Speaker 1: a funny fantasy.
• 21:56
Speaker 2: It's hilarious. He's not gonna make it. Then you come
• 21:59
Speaker 2: in the jew box.
• 22:02
Speaker 1: Like for those of you who are too young to remember,
• 22:04
Speaker 1: the fans who I'm spoofing here could pretty much had
• 22:07
  Speaker 1: magical powers.
• 22:08
Speaker 2: I mean when it came to jukeboxes and women.
• 22:11
Speaker 1: Yes, the fan maybe in the beginning he was just
• 22:14
Speaker 1: juke boxing, but then like as I recall late in
• 22:16
Speaker 1: later episodes of Happy Days, he would literally he could
• 22:18
Speaker 1: like work magic because.
• 22:20
Speaker 2: Snap and women out of nowhere would show up.
• 22:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, Fonzie had to move out of Milwaukee because he
• 22:25
Speaker 1: had dated every woman in Milwaukee. Is that recall that
• 22:28
Speaker 1: was that was a subplot he had he had been
• 22:30
Speaker 1: on a date with every single woman in Milwaukee and
• 22:32
Speaker 1: he could, so he had to go out of city.
• 22:34
Speaker 2: For that right on.
• 22:35
Speaker 3: Such a funny scene though, such a funny scene. And
• 22:38
Speaker 3: that's how you you know we all believe in miracles.
• 22:41
Speaker 1: Well that's how that's what starts off your really cool
• 22:43
Speaker 1: arc about testing your faith and and so was it
• 22:47
Speaker 1: dropped from you? You mentioned earlier that it was was
• 22:49
Speaker 1: your was churks religiousness dropped from here on out? Like
• 22:54
Speaker 1: did it ever come up did you stop wearing that cross?
• 22:56
Speaker 1: The cross by the way, you never see this cross
• 22:59
Speaker 1: ever before, but in this so because you're supposed to
• 23:00
Speaker 1: be religious, the crosses in every every shot.
• 23:02
Speaker 3: Well, we shot it in another episode also, but the
• 23:06
Speaker 3: cross is was it was after this you don't see
• 23:09
Speaker 3: the cross anymore, I believe, And we don't talk about
• 23:12
Speaker 3: Turk's faith really anymore, which.
• 23:15
Speaker 1: Is bizarre because at the end of the episode your
• 23:17
Speaker 1: faith is restored. I mean, you literally have a sign
• 23:19
Speaker 1: from God. Did you go see a pregnant woman in
• 23:23
  Speaker 1: the park?
• 23:24
  Speaker 2: Right?
• 23:24
  Speaker 1: Like?
• 23:24
Speaker 2: I just knew she was in the park?
• 23:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, how did you just know? Did you even know?
• 23:27
Speaker 1: Does Turke even know Sarah's storyline about her having a
• 23:31
  Speaker 1: pregnant woman?
• 23:31
Speaker 3: I think the I think the whole hospital knows about
• 23:34
Speaker 3: it because she's escaped and everybody's on the lookout.
• 23:38
Speaker 1: Okay, so you're on the roof, by the way, how
• 23:40
Speaker 1: funny is it the judy trying to cheer you up,
• 23:42
Speaker 1: wants to bang on the roof of the hospital. I know,
• 23:44
Speaker 1: I thought that was a funny plot line, Like, here, baby,
• 23:47
Speaker 1: I'll cheer you up. Let's have sex on this gravelly
• 23:49
  Speaker 1: dirty rooftop.
• 23:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, I look back at that. I look back at that,
• 23:54
Speaker 2: and I'm like, Turk, what were you thinking?
• 23:56
  Speaker 1: I love, I love us, I love I'm wanting it
• 23:59
Speaker 1: going be so gross And you're like, oh, what was
• 24:01
  Speaker 1: Turk thinking? I mean, like, I don't know. I think
• 24:11
Speaker 1: having sex in like really awkward places is always so
• 24:14
Speaker 1: like such a thing you only see in movies.
• 24:16
Speaker 2: Like have you had sex and awkward places before?
• 24:19
Speaker 1: Well, I'm not going to go too into my sex
• 24:21
Speaker 1: life for everybody, but I do. I think I have
• 24:23
Speaker 1: hooked up on the beach with with with someone and
• 24:26
Speaker 1: thought this looks way better in the movies. There's like
• 24:29
Speaker 1: sand in my creases.
• 24:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, uh no, I have never had sex in really
• 24:34
  Speaker 2: any awkward.
• 24:35
Speaker 1: There you go. We're giving the exclusive here on Fake
• 24:38
Speaker 1: Doctor's Real Friends Donald Fai song never having sex in
• 24:41
Speaker 1: an awkward place, like, I.
• 24:43
Speaker 2: Know people that have done it in some crazy places.
• 24:45
Speaker 1: I'm like, there's people who are into that. They're like
• 24:47
Speaker 1: they like they think of it like notches on their belt, Like, well,
• 24:49
Speaker 1: you're not gonna believe where we bang the hospital roof.
• 24:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, Turk and Carl, aren't that couple?
• 24:58
Speaker 1: What about those people who about having sex on an
• 25:01
Speaker 1: airplane bathrooms? I always thought that would be humiliating to
• 25:05
Speaker 1: come out of the bathroom and everyone's looking at you
• 25:07
Speaker 1: and so obvious what you did.
• 25:10
  Speaker 2: It's not.
• 25:11
Speaker 3: Well, the thing is not a lot of people have
• 25:14
Speaker 3: the opportunity to have sex over a mile above the earth.
• 25:18
Speaker 2: Right, And so I get the allure.
• 25:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, you do get the allure.
• 25:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, I get the allure, but I'm not really I'm
• 25:24
Speaker 2: not jealous of it. Like you just said, I can't.
• 25:26
Speaker 1: Picture you doing that. It doesn't sound like a very
• 25:28
Speaker 1: Donald Faison thing to do. I mean, you never know,
• 25:33
  Speaker 1: so you might.
• 25:34
  Speaker 2: I mean if it's a private jet.
• 25:36
  Speaker 1: Oh, a private jet doesn't count. I'm talking about a
• 25:39
  Speaker 1: commercial airplane.
• 25:40
Speaker 2: Like yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no no, especially
• 25:42
Speaker 2: now after what we're going through right now with this
• 25:44
  Speaker 2: whole quarantine thing.
• 25:46
Speaker 1: Before the quarantine, you would definitely bang in a bath.
• 25:48
Speaker 3: Before the quarantine, I think a lot of people would
• 25:50
Speaker 3: be like, yeah, that's a possibility. But now I think
• 25:53
Speaker 3: after the quarantine thing, it's like there's a little too
• 25:54
  Speaker 3: much germs.
• 25:55
Speaker 1: I can't picture Casey Cobb being like, there's.
• 25:58
Speaker 3: No way, it's absolutely not. I would be like, babe,
• 26:00
Speaker 3: let's do it, and she'd look at me like I
• 26:02
Speaker 3: was stupid. Should come home, buddy, Come own buddy.
• 26:05
Speaker 1: That's funny. All right, So the park's called Miller Park.
• 26:08
Speaker 1: I couldn't help but think that might be for Krista Miller. Okay, right, yeah, sure,
• 26:14
Speaker 1: the park's called Miller Park. I mean Bill said he's
• 26:16
Speaker 1: not great at naming shit.
• 26:17
Speaker 2: So speaking of Krista Miller, she's back.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: She's back, and she looks beautiful and she's funny as shit.
• 26:24
Speaker 1: And six thirty three is the first time I say
• 26:27
Speaker 1: banana hammock? Now, what is a banana hammock? Is it
• 26:31
Speaker 1: the thing that Rob that Rob Aka Todd wears the tiny.
• 26:35
Speaker 3: Yes, yes, and and and it's called a banana hammock
• 26:40
Speaker 3: because obviously it's like laying your banana and Hannah hammock.
• 26:45
Speaker 1: Okay, now I guess there are people men that wear
• 26:48
Speaker 1: these for real strippers.
• 26:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think if you're comfortable, if you
• 26:53
Speaker 3: don't have problems with your thighs rubbing together, banana hammocks
• 26:57
  Speaker 3: are very comfortable.
• 27:00
Speaker 1: Do you would could you ever consider? Would you ever consider?
• 27:02
  Speaker 6: No?
• 27:02
Speaker 1: Because listen before you answer, if you knew you weren't
• 27:05
Speaker 1: going to be photographed by a Papa Rozz so, by
• 27:08
Speaker 1: the way, singular of paparazzi is Papa Rozzo. I don't know.
• 27:11
Speaker 1: If you knew that, Okay, if you knew that you
• 27:13
Speaker 1: weren't going to be photographed and it would just be
• 27:15
Speaker 1: you on the beach and wherever Brazil, would you would
• 27:18
Speaker 1: you rock one of those?
• 27:19
Speaker 3: If I had no worry about anyone ever seeing me
• 27:22
Speaker 3: in this, yeah, yeah, then why not go nude?
• 27:24
  Speaker 2: Right?
• 27:26
Speaker 1: No, I'm talking about you're still on a beach, people
• 27:27
  Speaker 1: are like around.
• 27:29
Speaker 3: No, then no, I would not rock one. If people
• 27:31
Speaker 3: are around, then no, I would never rock one.
• 27:35
Speaker 1: I sometimes think it would be fun to wear a
• 27:36
Speaker 1: speedo like you know. Again, I don't want to wear
• 27:40
Speaker 1: it and have people look at me and judge, you know,
• 27:43
Speaker 1: everything going on. But I think I just think sometimes
• 27:45
Speaker 1: when I see people wearing them, I go, I think
• 27:47
Speaker 1: that might feel nice have a speedo on be out
• 27:50
  Speaker 1: and about.
• 27:50
  Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't, I don't know, I don't, I don't.
• 27:52
Speaker 2: I'd prefer to. I have issues with like chafing with
• 27:56
  Speaker 2: my thighs.
• 27:56
Speaker 1: And stuff like that because you don't have a thigh gap.
• 27:59
Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I got quads and I got some thigh gap.
• 28:05
Speaker 1: I think I might have a thigh gap. Let me see, Yeah,
• 28:08
Speaker 1: I have a little thigh gap.
• 28:09
Speaker 3: I don't have a thigh gap. Yea my inner thigh touch. Yeah,
• 28:14
Speaker 3: they clap, they clap.
• 28:16
  Speaker 2: That's the worst.
• 28:17
Speaker 3: Oh, you want to talk about feeling feeling running with
• 28:24
Speaker 3: the chafe after a while and then having the burn
• 28:28
  Speaker 3: in between the.
• 28:29
Speaker 1: Way you can't jog because of your thighs.
• 28:31
Speaker 3: I can jog if I put on something like oppression shorts,
• 28:33
  Speaker 3: but I can't wear like. I can't wear tidy whities,
• 28:35
Speaker 3: Like I don't wear tidy whities because even just walking
• 28:38
Speaker 3: is an issue with tidy whities.
• 28:40
Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't wear tighty whities anymore either, but I
• 28:43
Speaker 1: used to be quite loyal to them. Yeah, the janitor
• 28:46
Speaker 1: is for no reason that nine forty punched in the
• 28:49
Speaker 1: balls by a little girl, and both the little girl
• 28:53
Speaker 1: and the mom acknowledged the janitor. So Bill, since you
• 29:00
Speaker 1: hold fast to the idea that the janitor only reacted
• 29:03
Speaker 1: with JD in season one and may have been a
• 29:05
Speaker 1: figment of his imagination, why is it that a little
• 29:10
Speaker 1: girl randomly punches Neil in the balls and he reacts.
• 29:14
Speaker 6: Yeah, when the janitor got hitting the balls by that girl,
• 29:19
Speaker 6: like the nine and a half minute mark. You want
• 29:22
Speaker 6: me to explain how the jan in there can only
• 29:26
Speaker 6: interact with j D if this actually happened.
• 29:28
  Speaker 2: That's easy.
• 29:31
Speaker 1: Five six, seven, eight, stop turn it off, fucking guy.
• 29:38
Speaker 2: The old school PSA. Yes, great, hilarious, so funny, very funny,
• 29:43
  Speaker 2: and very clever.
• 29:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean really and just well executed. Kudos to
• 29:48
Speaker 1: Jeff Melman, the director, and deb for writing it. I
• 29:52
Speaker 1: thought that was just really clever, really well executed. Those
• 29:54
Speaker 1: those sort of spoofing, those nineteen fifties you know, what
• 29:59
Speaker 1: do you call them instructional videos?
• 30:01
Speaker 3: Yes, But then afterwards, after the fantasy was over, we
• 30:04
Speaker 3: did it again where the person who did the voiceover
• 30:09
Speaker 3: for the fantasy is now in the room with you, right, and.
• 30:12
Speaker 1: He brings up like communism as though he's still back
• 30:14
  Speaker 1: in the fifties.
• 30:15
Speaker 3: Right, and then looks all he's looking off into the distance,
• 30:19
Speaker 3: I guess, into nowhere, and then you look at him
• 30:22
Speaker 3: to see what he's looking at, right, and then you
• 30:24
  Speaker 3: exit that direction.
• 30:25
Speaker 1: I think he was trying to be one of those like,
• 30:27
Speaker 1: you know, picture like a nineteen fifties announcer guy who's
• 30:30
Speaker 1: like looking off into the distance, and thus we will
• 30:32
Speaker 1: fight communism and so and then he's sort of frozen
• 30:35
Speaker 1: like that. And then but it was sort of a
• 30:37
Speaker 1: JD sort of head look. So then I kind of
• 30:39
Speaker 1: did a look to him like are you doing my thing?
• 30:41
Speaker 1: Or what are you looking at? And then I tried
• 30:42
Speaker 1: to look where he was going.
• 30:44
Speaker 2: But that's pulling out of a fantasy and still being yes,
• 30:47
Speaker 2: you know another example.
• 30:48
Speaker 1: Of that, that's not something that happened too often.
• 30:51
Speaker 2: No, this is like and the second time it happened.
• 30:53
Speaker 1: Well, we talked about the guy who was frozen after
• 30:56
Speaker 1: at the orderly, who was frozen after everybody else was frozen.
• 31:00
Speaker 1: It's not something I think Bill. I think he said
• 31:02
Speaker 1: that he started phasing that out, but I thought it
• 31:04
Speaker 1: was clever, very clever.
• 31:05
Speaker 2: Same here. I, Well, I have a couple of things.
• 31:12
Speaker 2: We shaved the baby.
• 31:13
Speaker 1: Okay, I laughed out loud. I laughed out loud.
• 31:18
Speaker 2: I shaved the baby, shaved in a haircut. Two bits.
• 31:21
  Speaker 1: Yeah, I laughed out loud. That was JD's j d's
• 31:25
Speaker 1: improvisation for solving the problem. We shaved the baby. You
• 31:29
Speaker 1: shaved the baby, yep, shaved the baby, shave and a haircut.
• 31:35
Speaker 1: Long pause. Two bits. Bill told me early on that
• 31:41
Speaker 1: one of the things he loved about Michael J. Fox
• 31:44
Speaker 1: working on Spin City was that Michael J. And everybody,
• 31:48
Speaker 1: when you think about this, when you hear this, you'll
• 31:50
Speaker 1: think about family ties and some of the amazing timing
• 31:53
Speaker 1: he had was that he knew how long he could
• 31:57
Speaker 1: milk a pause before that punchline. Like Michael J. Fox
• 32:01
Speaker 1: was fucking genius at you know, I'll just use this
• 32:04
Speaker 1: as example, how long he could have the audience, especially
• 32:07
Speaker 1: if the audience got ahead of it, right, he knew that.
• 32:09
Speaker 1: You still, I mean, it's even better with a sitcom
• 32:12
Speaker 1: live audience, but he knew that shave and a haircut
• 32:17
Speaker 1: two bits, you know, like he could he could just
• 32:20
Speaker 1: milk it even if the audience started on a sitcom
• 32:23
Speaker 1: started giggling because they were ahead of it. He could
• 32:26
Speaker 1: just milk that. And Bill said, and I think I
• 32:29
Speaker 1: think that landed in my head in some of my
• 32:31
Speaker 1: scrubs timings because I I wanted to impress him like
• 32:34
  Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox. But but I but I I always
• 32:37
Speaker 1: think of that when you watch some of Michael J.
• 32:39
Speaker 1: Fox's amazing timing, how how he could just he just
• 32:42
Speaker 1: was a master of how long to hold it like
• 32:44
Speaker 1: even let the audience get ahead of it. It's fine,
• 32:46
Speaker 1: and then say, and it would be so much more gratifying.
• 32:48
Speaker 2: Right, I mean, Michael J. Fox is you know, one
• 32:51
Speaker 2: of our our best when it comes to.
• 32:54
Speaker 1: Just mean Family Ties. Did you watch Family Ties?
• 32:57
Speaker 2: Of course I watched Family Ties. He was amaze. And
• 33:00
Speaker 2: also Back to the Future, you know, the first.
• 33:03
Speaker 3: I talk about Back to the Future a lot because
• 33:04
Speaker 3: it's one of my favorite movies, but the first Back
• 33:06
Speaker 3: to the Future. I know there's some plot holes in
• 33:09
Speaker 3: it that a lot of people can't get over, but
• 33:12
Speaker 3: to me, that movie is almost flawless, you know what
• 33:14
Speaker 3: I mean. As far as time travel stories are so
• 33:18
Speaker 3: difficult to do, you know what I mean? And or
• 33:21
Speaker 3: I shouldn't say it difficult to do. I should say
• 33:22
Speaker 3: they're just doing a time travel story.
• 33:25
Speaker 2: It's been done so many times before, so you have
• 33:28
Speaker 2: to be pretty creative to make it feel like, oh
• 33:32
Speaker 2: this is you know, people say another time travel story.
• 33:35
Speaker 2: But if it's as good as Back to the Future was,
• 33:40
Speaker 2: you accept it and you're willing to go on the ride.
• 33:43
Speaker 2: Otherwise it's like some cheese shit, and you you know,
• 33:46
Speaker 2: theory gets in the way of a lot of stuff.
• 33:48
Speaker 2: And I it's just one of those movies that you know,
• 33:53
Speaker 2: you make a it's just it's in my opinion, this one.
• 33:56
  Speaker 2: It's a perfect movie.
• 33:57
Speaker 1: And wasn't it amazing that a movie could turn off
• 33:59
Speaker 1: that good good? And it was a film that they
• 34:02
Speaker 1: started over because they recast the lead.
• 34:05
Speaker 2: Right yeah, well yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean.
• 34:08
Speaker 1: You mentioned this, you mentioned this before. But for those
• 34:10
Speaker 1: of you who didn't hear that or didn't know it
• 34:11
Speaker 1: was originally Eric Stoltz, I don't know how long they shot.
• 34:14
Speaker 1: You read the book, do you remember.
• 34:15
Speaker 2: It shot half of the movie. So they shot all
• 34:17
  Speaker 2: of the.
• 34:18
Speaker 1: Stuff that credible. They shot half of the fucking movie.
• 34:21
Speaker 3: Yes, so they shot everything in the fifties. But they
• 34:24
Speaker 3: talk about they talk about the movie like, you know,
• 34:26
Speaker 3: Michael J. Fox is very athletic.
• 34:29
Speaker 1: What's the name of this book? Do you remember?
• 34:30
Speaker 2: For people don't remember it? The dude tweeted it.
• 34:34
Speaker 3: But they shot half the movie and they said, you know,
• 34:36
Speaker 3: Michael J. Fox is very athletic. But they said Eric
• 34:40
Speaker 3: Stoltz on a skateboard was magic. He just seemed way
• 34:42
Speaker 3: more at home on.
• 34:43
Speaker 2: A skateboard than it was a skateboarder.
• 34:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, right, than Michael j Fox did, and you know
• 34:48
Speaker 3: the rock and roll side of things. They say in
• 34:51
Speaker 3: the book, you know, Eric Stoltz had that, you know,
• 34:54
Speaker 3: has that very much grund rock appeal to him, you
• 34:58
Speaker 3: know what I mean.
• 35:00
Speaker 2: J Fox, as you know he is, he is what
• 35:02
  Speaker 2: he is.
• 35:03
Speaker 3: He's you know you when you look at him, you're
• 35:06
Speaker 3: not like, yo, that dude is just listens to rockall
• 35:10
Speaker 3: even if he does, you know what I mean, he
• 35:12
Speaker 3: doesn't have that look to him.
• 35:14
Speaker 2: And they said, Eric did. It just didn't work out.
• 35:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, how humbling can you imagine your I mean,
• 35:20
Speaker 1: thank god Eric Stults went on to have this incredible
• 35:22
Speaker 1: career and holy shit, and mask if you haven't got
• 35:25
  Speaker 1: that mask.
• 35:26
Speaker 2: And that's the thing.
• 35:26
Speaker 3: So they talk about that in the book. The reason
• 35:28
Speaker 3: why he was put in the movie was because he
• 35:30
Speaker 3: had masks, the mask coming out, you know what I mean,
• 35:32
Speaker 3: And so they were banking on him getting nominated for
• 35:35
Speaker 3: an Academy Award for that movie, but then being in
• 35:38
Speaker 3: this blockbuster action adventure time travel movie.
• 35:42
Speaker 2: The name of the book is Back to the Future.
• 35:45
Speaker 1: I click on The Ultimate Visual History. Yes, Back to
• 35:49
Speaker 1: the Future, The Ultimate Visual History by Michael Klasterin Yeah,
• 35:54
Speaker 1: so if you're a fan of the movie, like as
• 35:57
Speaker 1: much as Donald is, you might want to check that
• 35:59
Speaker 1: out because it sounds fascinating. I'm always fascinating these production
• 36:02
Speaker 1: stories where someone's recast or they start over. I mean,
• 36:06
  Speaker 1: I don't know if it's true, so don't hold me
• 36:08
Speaker 1: to this, but I heard that American Beauty, which is
• 36:10
Speaker 1: one of my favorite movies, they shot like, not not
• 36:12
Speaker 1: as much as this, but they shot like a week
• 36:14
Speaker 1: of and and and the director said, uh, to the producers,
• 36:20
Speaker 1: I I didn't get the tone quite right. You know,
• 36:22
Speaker 1: the tone of American Beauty is so specific and and
• 36:26
Speaker 1: as the as the rumor I heard goes, he said,
• 36:28
  Speaker 1: I I just didn't quite nail it. I need to
• 36:30
Speaker 1: I need to scrap that week and start over. And
• 36:32
Speaker 1: and the DreamWorks producers, including Spielberg and the other fellas,
• 36:36
Speaker 1: let him do it.
• 36:36
Speaker 2: That's interesting because Spielberg's very much involved in Back to
• 36:39
  Speaker 2: the Futures.
• 36:40
Speaker 1: So maybe he's the kind of producer that if you're little,
• 36:42
Speaker 1: let's say with Sam mende Sorry Sam Mendy's first film,
• 36:45
Speaker 1: and I love American Beauty, please see that if you haven't.
• 36:47
Speaker 1: But I I again, it might be Hollywood lore, but
• 36:50
Speaker 1: I heard that that that they they sort of started
• 36:52
Speaker 1: over again on that one. So these stories were were
• 36:54
Speaker 1: some movie is so incredible, it has such an impact.
• 36:58
Speaker 1: And then there's there's something that hap happened where they RecA.
• 37:01
Speaker 3: What happens all the time some you know, some Star
• 37:03
Speaker 3: Wars movie. They did that with some of the Star
• 37:05
Speaker 3: Wars movies, like Rogue one. Apparently there's a whole you know,
• 37:08
Speaker 3: they shot almost all of Rogue one and went back
• 37:11
Speaker 3: and reshot a lot of the stuff in it. Really, yeah,
• 37:16
Speaker 3: same thing with the same thing with Solo.
• 37:18
Speaker 2: Remember, you know, of.
• 37:19
Speaker 1: Course that's changing, that's changing the directors. That's that's even crazy.
• 37:22
  Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's a whole cut. There's a whole movie,
• 37:25
Speaker 2: according to Lore, Yeah, there's a whole movie that they
• 37:28
Speaker 2: made that you can actually take all of the special
• 37:31
Speaker 2: effects and all of the things that they did in
• 37:34
Speaker 2: the actual Solo movie and you can put it into
• 37:38
Speaker 2: what they shot and it's a completely different movie. But
• 37:41
Speaker 2: it's still all fits.
• 37:42
Speaker 1: What do you think happened? They were obviously my guess
• 37:44
Speaker 1: is they were just doing their hilarious improv comedic thing.
• 37:47
Speaker 1: And then Kathleen Kennedy that's her name, did she just
• 37:50
Speaker 1: not like that style. She's saying, that's not Star Wars.
• 37:53
Speaker 2: No, I don't know if it was her.
• 37:54
  Speaker 3: I don't know if it was I don't know if
• 37:57
Speaker 3: it was the writer of the movie who's gone on
• 37:59
Speaker 3: to write some incredible.
• 38:00
  Speaker 1: Movies, Jonathan Kasden.
• 38:03
Speaker 2: Jonathan, but his dad wrote Raiders Are the Lost Dark Ye.
• 38:07
Speaker 3: Lawrence Kasten, Yeah, he wrote rais of the Lost Dark
• 38:09
Speaker 3: The Empire strikes Back, and they both teamed up to
• 38:12
  Speaker 3: write solo.
• 38:12
Speaker 2: I don't know what happened. I'd love to know that story.
• 38:15
Speaker 3: We could reach out to them and they want to
• 38:16
Speaker 3: be on the podcast, and right here they want.
• 38:18
  Speaker 1: To I don't think about I don't think even if
• 38:20
Speaker 1: we were to get christ and Phil on the podcast,
• 38:22
Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna out their whole song.
• 38:25
Speaker 2: Let's ask Jonathan Kasen and Lawrence Caston. They'll never do it.
• 38:28
Speaker 2: I don't think how cool would it be if I
• 38:30
Speaker 2: could go and cut to and then they said it.
• 38:38
Speaker 1: You know, as the podcast gets bigger and bigger, maybe
• 38:41
Speaker 1: we'll be able to get like really fancy guests like
• 38:43
Speaker 1: and now Lawrence Kusten.
• 38:48
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 38:48
Speaker 1: I always wondered what happened with that, because I don't
• 38:49
Speaker 1: know why you'd hire Kristen phil If not to do
• 38:52
Speaker 1: what they do so well, which was to make it funny.
• 38:56
Speaker 1: And it seems to me not as someone who's just
• 38:58
Speaker 1: dialed into the Star Wars universe as you. But when
• 39:00
Speaker 1: I think of Han Solo, I think, oh, let's give
• 39:03
Speaker 1: him some jokes, Let's have him be quippie and funny,
• 39:06
Speaker 1: and it seemed like a perfect marriage.
• 39:08
Speaker 3: But it would be a real interesting it'd be very
• 39:10
Speaker 3: interesting to see that, you know that side. And I
• 39:13
Speaker 3: love Solo, you know what I mean. There are a
• 39:14
Speaker 3: lot of people out there that really like that movie,
• 39:17
Speaker 3: and I'm one of those people. It's a fun Star
• 39:20
  Speaker 3: Wars movie.
• 39:21
Speaker 1: So then Ron Howard came in.
• 39:23
Speaker 2: And you know, he's an amazing director himself, right, you.
• 39:27
Speaker 1: Know, it's one of my favorite Ron Howard movies is
• 39:29
Speaker 1: Parenthood the movie if you.
• 39:30
  Speaker 2: Have great cast.
• 39:32
Speaker 1: Great movie went on to make a very popular TV
• 39:36
Speaker 1: show starring my doppelganger, Dad Sheppard.
• 39:38
  Speaker 2: I'm gonna say.
• 39:38
Speaker 3: Something right now, that movie has one of my favorite actors.
• 39:41
Speaker 3: I am a huge fan of Rick moranis.
• 39:43
  Speaker 1: Yeah, Moran's been He's amazing.
• 39:46
  Speaker 2: Yeah, he's on his way. I guess he's he's agreed
• 39:48
Speaker 2: to do another project.
• 39:49
Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, but he's honey shrunk
• 39:51
Speaker 1: the kids. Maybe he's coming back for that.
• 39:52
Speaker 2: That would be so awesome.
• 39:54
Speaker 1: I know they're redoing that with Josh Gadd and I
• 39:56
Speaker 1: think that he might be joining him. O. Well's nodding
• 40:00
  Speaker 1: so that.
• 40:01
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 40:02
Speaker 5: Rick Morana's tragically lost his wife at the height of
• 40:04
Speaker 5: his career, so he quit to raise his.
• 40:06
Speaker 2: Children, and now his children are grown and he's coming back.
• 40:10
  Speaker 5: So excited.
• 40:11
  Speaker 1: God, he's so talented. I'm so I'm so happy he's
• 40:13
Speaker 1: coming back. He's a funny, funny man.
• 40:16
Speaker 2: All right, let's get back to the show.
• 40:18
Speaker 1: Let's get back to the show.
• 40:19
Speaker 2: Donald one of my favorite fantasies. Uh, and I still
• 40:22
Speaker 2: use it to this day. I ain't buying it. Trying
• 40:26
Speaker 2: to sell somebody the book on the kid getting hit,
• 40:29
Speaker 2: the baby with prenatal lice. Yeah, and Christa says. Jordan says,
• 40:35
Speaker 2: I'm buying it at the time.
• 40:37
Speaker 1: That's funny. And you passed something that I want to
• 40:39
Speaker 1: say still about shaving the baby's head. That was funny.
• 40:41
Speaker 1: Oh when when Johnny's mad that I didn't correctly tape
• 40:44
Speaker 1: over the and by the way, for those of you young,
• 40:46
Speaker 1: that's that's a VHS recorder. So there used to be
• 40:49
Speaker 1: these giant tapes called VHS tapes. But I was laughing
• 40:53
Speaker 1: and when Johnny's yelling at me because I fucked up
• 40:56
Speaker 1: the tape and I go, I was there. I could,
• 40:59
Speaker 1: you know, jot down some of my feelings and impressions.
• 41:05
Speaker 1: It's very and I could. I could jot down some
• 41:09
Speaker 1: of my feelings and impressions, like I was gonna what
• 41:13
Speaker 1: am I gonna do? Like right down like and then
• 41:15
Speaker 1: the head emerge. Let's talk about Johnny c McGinley as
• 41:22
Speaker 1: the Grinch. That was really funny.
• 41:23
Speaker 2: He nailed that, Yes he did. And the words that
• 41:28
Speaker 2: he's saying are those words from doctor.
• 41:31
Speaker 1: I think they're supposed to be doctor Seussie, but they're
• 41:34
  Speaker 1: not real suits.
• 41:34
Speaker 2: But they're not real words.
• 41:36
Speaker 1: Yeah. But they did a great job on his hair
• 41:38
Speaker 1: and makeup. I thought he looked really cool and he was.
• 41:40
Speaker 1: It was funny looking.
• 41:40
Speaker 2: I wonder how long he was in hair and makeup for.
• 41:42
Speaker 1: I could I could tell from from being on the
• 41:45
Speaker 1: show that was hours and hours and hours.
• 41:47
Speaker 2: He had hair like green hair glued to his face
• 41:49
  Speaker 2: and stuff.
• 41:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, sinner man by Nina Simone, which is they really
• 41:53
Speaker 1: must have rolled out the bucks for it to pay
• 41:55
Speaker 1: for Nina Simone on this episode, as you run to
• 41:58
  Speaker 1: the Tamiller Park.
• 41:59
Speaker 3: Miller Park, you know, that was what I was talking
• 42:02
Speaker 3: about when we were talking about the platform shoes, and
• 42:06
Speaker 3: they made Deontaey do all of the things that you
• 42:09
Speaker 3: saw me do in that episode in like twelve inch
• 42:13
  Speaker 3: platform shoes.
• 42:14
Speaker 2: However much shorter he is than me, but eight inch whatever.
• 42:17
Speaker 1: Why are you running? Why are you running like a
• 42:19
Speaker 1: cartoon character? Do you notice that? It's like this really
• 42:22
Speaker 1: dramatic moment, and then you're taking corners. You know when
• 42:25
Speaker 1: cartoon people run, they're like skin at the corners and
• 42:27
Speaker 1: they have to like they have to like catch up tea.
• 42:30
Speaker 1: You're doing that shit.
• 42:32
Speaker 2: It's all. It all comes from Michael J. Fox Man speaking.
• 42:36
Speaker 2: We spoke about him earlier. It really is true, man, Mike.
• 42:39
  Speaker 2: Michael J.
• 42:40
Speaker 3: Fox had some of the best running moments in the
• 42:43
Speaker 3: history of running in teen Wolf when he's running through
• 42:47
Speaker 3: the halls and the guy's mopping and he's like it's
• 42:49
Speaker 3: slippery that way, and Mike runs through and then slides
• 42:53
Speaker 3: all the way through camera right the way through the
• 42:55
Speaker 3: hallway and then comes running back. But as he's coming back,
• 42:58
Speaker 3: he's trying to keep his balance on this slippery floor.
• 43:01
Speaker 1: So you're saying that moment you're running, and this was inspiring.
• 43:04
Speaker 2: Everything everything I you know, everything I've done.
• 43:07
Speaker 1: Everything I do, I do it for you, I do
• 43:10
Speaker 1: it for Michael J.
• 43:12
  Speaker 5: Fox.
• 43:12
Speaker 3: Well, no, but every there's a you know, whether it's
• 43:15
Speaker 3: a run or a walk, or you know, a facial expression.
• 43:19
Speaker 3: A lot of these come from my favorite actors, So
• 43:21
Speaker 3: like Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington, Sidney Potier, Michael J. Fox,
• 43:26
Speaker 3: Rick Moranis, Robin Williams, Bill Murray. You know, all of
• 43:31
Speaker 3: these people did something that I saw and I was like,
• 43:33
Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna try and.
• 43:36
Speaker 1: Wrote I wrote down in nineteen eighteen. Turk runs like
• 43:39
Speaker 1: a cartoon character, right.
• 43:41
Speaker 2: That all came from me trying to run like Michael J. Fox. Yeah.
• 43:44
Speaker 1: So Turk gets a sign. He's on the roof again,
• 43:47
Speaker 1: right on the roof again. Yeah, And you're just up
• 43:49
Speaker 1: there having a moment and you have a come to
• 43:52
Speaker 1: Jesus moment if you will, that there's a pregnant woman
• 43:55
Speaker 1: about to give birth in the park, and you run
• 43:58
Speaker 1: and you run like a cartoon character to Nina Simone's
• 44:01
Speaker 1: Cinnerman beautiful song, and then you run to the park
• 44:06
Speaker 1: and you deliver a baby. Now, Churk probably hasn't delivered
• 44:08
  Speaker 1: that many babies.
• 44:09
  Speaker 2: Oh he's a surgeon, I imagine.
• 44:11
Speaker 1: But he's not. Yeah, he's probably done a fair amount.
• 44:14
  Speaker 2: I imagine that he's he's not a ghino.
• 44:15
Speaker 1: But I know I want to go to some of Joel.
• 44:19
Speaker 1: The speaking of guinos, we're jumping around, but in the
• 44:21
Speaker 1: very beginning of the episode, Kelso is is being sexist
• 44:24
Speaker 1: and saying to Sarah that she's going to become a
• 44:27
Speaker 1: guy of collegers obgyn and then Joel found this thing.
• 44:31
Speaker 1: According to an article by the American Medical Association the
• 44:34
Speaker 1: Breakdown of Specialties dominated by women in twenty nineteen, eighty
• 44:40
Speaker 1: three point four percent of obgyns are women. Wow, and
• 44:46
Speaker 1: seventy two percent of pediatricians are women. Am I reading
• 44:49
Speaker 1: that right, Joel? What I thought was writ well, I
• 44:54
Speaker 1: mean I was offended by Kelso. I was like, fuck
• 44:58
Speaker 1: this guy, and then Joel handed me and uh, you know,
• 45:02
  Speaker 1: I guess, but I understand that, like I I was
• 45:05
  Speaker 1: your was your have your O B G Y n
• 45:07
Speaker 1: has been been female or male?
• 45:10
  Speaker 5: Uh?
• 45:10
Speaker 2: First one was a guy.
• 45:12
Speaker 1: I was asking Donald, Joel, but please god, Joel.
• 45:19
Speaker 2: This questions like for his wife.
• 45:22
Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm laughing so hard. Joel got so
• 45:25
Speaker 1: lost in the episode. She started answering, you're totally wait, Joel. Sorry,
• 45:30
Speaker 1: I want I want you to answer. Don't get me wrong,
• 45:33
Speaker 1: but but you go first, then and then we'll call
• 45:35
Speaker 1: on Donald. Donald has had eleven thousand children, so I
• 45:37
Speaker 1: wanted to know what go for you, Joel.
• 45:40
  Speaker 5: Have your O B G Y n's been uh mostly
• 45:43
Speaker 5: mostly three women, one guy?
• 45:45
Speaker 1: How about you? Donald? Casey's is a male m HM
• 45:50
Speaker 1: and you and and your other other baby mamas? Do
• 45:52
Speaker 1: you remember you don't remember? It's okay not to remember.
• 45:55
  Speaker 2: I don't.
• 45:55
Speaker 1: I feel like if I was giving birth and I
• 45:57
Speaker 1: had a vagina, i'd want a woman. But maybe maybe
• 46:00
Speaker 1: that's ridiculous to say. I just what's my gut respect?
• 46:02
  Speaker 3: Okay, Well, here's a here's here's a good survey. We
• 46:05
Speaker 3: should we should do, and we won't and we won't
• 46:07
Speaker 3: use uh that as an example. Let's use massaging as
• 46:11
Speaker 3: an example. Okay, yeah, yeah, because that's pretty intimate and
• 46:15
  Speaker 3: it's harmless.
• 46:15
Speaker 1: And what do you get a man or a woman?
• 46:18
Speaker 2: Exactly? What do you get a man?
• 46:19
  Speaker 1: I always get a woman.
• 46:20
Speaker 2: Same here, Joelle, strongest hands, who has the strongest hands?
• 46:25
Speaker 1: So that's what you say.
• 46:26
Speaker 2: You say, you say who's got the best hands.
• 46:28
Speaker 1: So when they say manner of female, male or female,
• 46:30
Speaker 1: you say strongest hands.
• 46:32
Speaker 2: Absolutely. Oh the end.
• 46:33
Speaker 1: I thought it was funny that Sarah was you're holding
• 46:36
Speaker 1: Judy like in front of you, but Sarah's holding me
• 46:38
Speaker 1: in front of her, right in front of the Christmas tree.
• 46:41
Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I also there was one other part that
• 46:45
Speaker 3: we should talk about, and that's uh, when Cox and
• 46:49
Speaker 3: Jordan are fighting each other about the haircut, shaving and
• 46:52
Speaker 3: everything like that, and then you jump in the middle
• 46:54
Speaker 3: and then they automatically turn on j D. And that's
• 46:59
  Speaker 3: a lesson that I've learned at a that I learned
• 47:02
Speaker 3: at a young age. I guess JD was never you know,
• 47:05
Speaker 3: I didn't have friends that had brothers or sisters or.
• 47:08
Speaker 2: Anything like that. But never get involved when a couple
• 47:11
Speaker 2: is fighting. You stay out of it unless they invite
• 47:15
Speaker 2: you into the argument. Stay away because that thing will
• 47:18
Speaker 2: turn on you so quick.
• 47:19
Speaker 1: It's hard sometimes because you want to weigh in but
• 47:21
  Speaker 1: you can't.
• 47:22
  Speaker 2: But you can't.
• 47:22
Speaker 3: You got to keep it to yourself. You got to
• 47:24
Speaker 3: keep it to yourself. I had friends growing up, the
• 47:27
Speaker 3: Rogers brothers, there was four of them, right, and they
• 47:29
Speaker 3: would you know, when they fought, they would fight viciously,
• 47:32
Speaker 3: punching and grabbing and choking, and you know, they would
• 47:34
Speaker 3: beat each other up and you'd be like, you guys,
• 47:37
Speaker 3: are brothers, stop it, and you'd get in the middle
• 47:39
Speaker 3: of it, and then their anger all of a sudden
• 47:42
Speaker 3: went from them wanting to kick each other's ass to
• 47:45
Speaker 3: now them kicking your ass. And two on one ain't fun, dude,
• 47:48
Speaker 3: or three on one, four on one ain't fun, man,
• 47:51
  Speaker 3: and it would.
• 47:51
Speaker 2: Be it would be I would So when JD did
• 47:55
Speaker 2: that to Jordan and Cox, I was like, that's the
• 47:59
Speaker 2: dumb that's that's a rookie mistake. That's the dumbest move ever.
• 48:02
Speaker 2: Never get involved in couples arguing.
• 48:04
Speaker 1: Right right, Well, I I definitely try and stay out,
• 48:08
Speaker 1: But in your head you're thinking, like you're you're judging,
• 48:11
Speaker 1: and you're saying, like, but aren't you also happy when
• 48:13
Speaker 1: you're out in public and you see a couple fighting
• 48:14
Speaker 1: and you're like, yes, it's not me.
• 48:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely absolutely. That's the one thing that my wife
• 48:20
Speaker 3: and I try not to do. It's always like to wait,
• 48:23
Speaker 3: wait till we get home, wait till week.
• 48:25
Speaker 1: Oh really you do the wait we get home.
• 48:27
Speaker 2: I don't do that. That's what she does to me.
• 48:28
Speaker 1: Really, we can talk when we get home, right, and
• 48:33
  Speaker 1: I know, right.
• 48:33
Speaker 2: There and there, I'm not going to I'm not going
• 48:35
Speaker 2: to sleep tonight worse.
• 48:37
Speaker 1: And then you have to drive home and just like
• 48:38
  Speaker 1: in silence.
• 48:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you walk in and it's on. And
• 48:43
  Speaker 3: my wife's the type of person that's like, I don't
• 48:46
Speaker 3: like going to ben mad.
• 48:47
Speaker 1: Well, at least she has it out, you know. I
• 48:49
Speaker 1: think that's way better to have it out, even if
• 48:51
Speaker 1: it's like impassioned, rather than just sitting on it.
• 48:53
  Speaker 2: I hate that.
• 48:54
Speaker 1: And I don't think you should go to sleep mad either.
• 48:57
  Speaker 1: I think that's a good a good habit to have.
• 49:01
  Speaker 2: Try.
• 49:01
Speaker 3: And dude, I've been I've been damn near sleeping where
• 49:03
Speaker 3: I'm just in uh, where I'm passed out, my eyes
• 49:07
Speaker 3: are closed, and I'm just agreeing now right, just so.
• 49:10
Speaker 1: I could go to sleep the path of least resistance.
• 49:12
Speaker 2: And she'll be like, so, what did I say, and
• 49:14
Speaker 2: I'll be like, oh gosh, there you go, say you
• 49:19
Speaker 2: are listen. I was listening.
• 49:23
Speaker 1: Don't go to been angry everybody. That's a lesson here
• 49:25
Speaker 1: from fake Doctor's real friends.
• 49:27
Speaker 2: Oh one last thing I forgotten. Let's ask Bill about this.
• 49:30
Speaker 1: Also, go ahead, before you're gonna get two, you're gonna
• 49:33
Speaker 1: get Bill too this week.
• 49:33
Speaker 3: Okay, go Aheadah, okay, So there was an alternate ending
• 49:36
Speaker 3: to this episode, right, but that's it's so dark, so dark.
• 49:41
Speaker 2: It was so dark to end the Christmas episode.
• 49:43
Speaker 1: I wasn't even bring it up because we were being
• 49:44
  Speaker 1: so giddy and it's a bit it's a bit dark,
• 49:46
Speaker 1: but okay, go for it.
• 49:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a dark ending to this episode, and
• 49:49
  Speaker 2: I'm sure.
• 49:49
Speaker 1: That I don't think it was it was it an ending,
• 49:51
Speaker 1: or it was a subplot that was woven through.
• 49:54
Speaker 3: I think it was a subplot. It might have been
• 49:55
Speaker 3: let's ask Bill Bill. I know at the end of
• 49:58
Speaker 3: this episode, there was a moment between Jordan and Uh.
• 50:02
Speaker 3: We almost forgot about the call. There was a moment
• 50:05
Speaker 3: with Jordan and Uh and Uh and Cox where they
• 50:10
Speaker 3: said something different when they were looking at the baby.
• 50:13
Speaker 3: When they finally went to visit the baby.
• 50:15
Speaker 1: And there was no there was a subplot. Do you
• 50:18
Speaker 1: want me to tell you what it is and then
• 50:19
Speaker 1: have Bill talk about it. Sure, there was a subplot
• 50:21
Speaker 1: that they when they were together, had lost a child,
• 50:25
Speaker 1: and so that was some of the dramatic undertones of
• 50:29
Speaker 1: of them and dealing with their friends having a new baby.
• 50:34
Speaker 2: And I that's why they didn't want to go to
• 50:35
  Speaker 2: the room, right.
• 50:36
Speaker 1: And I believe or the or the nursery where you
• 50:39
Speaker 1: see kids, and I believe that Bill had an argument
• 50:42
Speaker 1: with the network about cutting that out. So Bill tell
• 50:47
Speaker 1: us about that and what your struggle with the network was, please, you.
• 50:50
  Speaker 2: Know, it's interesting.
• 50:51
Speaker 6: I don't remember specifically the struggle with the Jordan Cox
• 50:54
Speaker 6: losing a baby thing. But the one thing that we
• 50:57
Speaker 6: were always dealing with early on in Scrubbs was that
• 51:01
Speaker 6: we would pitch the network stories that weren't specifically comedies,
• 51:07
Speaker 6: you know, and it didn't sound like, Hey, three patients
• 51:10
Speaker 6: come in and one of the three of them is
• 51:11
Speaker 6: gonna die, but they all three die. Hey, doctor Cox
• 51:14
Speaker 6: used to be married to someone, they lost a baby.
• 51:17
Speaker 6: Hey we're gonna introduce a super big movie star guest
• 51:20
Speaker 6: star who seems really funny in jovial, but he's gonna
• 51:23
Speaker 6: have leukemia and then come back next year and die
• 51:25
Speaker 6: from it. So we always met resistance.
• 51:29
  Speaker 1: Thank you, Bill.
• 51:30
  Speaker 2: Let's take a break.
• 51:31
Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words. Now, Joelle,
• 51:42
Speaker 1: I believe we have a caller or two.
• 51:46
Speaker 4: Hi, guys, how are you doing? Brian good?
• 51:48
  Speaker 5: How are you?
• 51:48
  Speaker 2: Brian?
• 51:49
Speaker 1: O'mallly, Oh my god, Brian, you got to record that somehow.
• 51:54
Speaker 4: I am recording it actually, And you.
• 51:56
Speaker 1: Know what, Brian, that can be your your new ringtone.
• 51:58
Speaker 1: Donald giving you an.
• 51:59
  Speaker 2: Oprah no.
• 52:02
Speaker 4: And what that is definitely gonnapp speaking of.
• 52:06
Speaker 1: Ringtones, I digress for a moment. The good people at
• 52:09
Speaker 1: iHeart are putting together the ability for for folks to
• 52:14
Speaker 1: have our theme song be your ringtone. We're working on
• 52:17
Speaker 1: it and that's in the works because I've been getting
• 52:19
Speaker 1: a lot of love on the social media for our
• 52:22
Speaker 1: theme song, especially Wilder's version, and Wilder's version.
• 52:26
Speaker 2: Will not be that's not going to be available.
• 52:28
Speaker 1: Wilder's version will not be available for ringtone, although I
• 52:31
Speaker 1: did hear a lot of people say that should be
• 52:33
Speaker 1: the new version forget your version, but those people are wrong,
• 52:36
Speaker 1: but pretty much right.
• 52:37
Speaker 2: What you drinking man?
• 52:38
Speaker 1: What are you drinking? Brian? Uh, this is beer? Okay?
• 52:42
Speaker 2: What kind of beer you got there?
• 52:43
  Speaker 4: It's like a hazy I p a juicy eight percent.
• 52:47
  Speaker 4: I like stuff that's strong.
• 52:48
Speaker 2: Okay, Well I got myself a little margarita. Awesome?
• 52:53
Speaker 4: Is that just like lime juice? Tequila?
• 52:55
Speaker 2: I don't know what they use. It's Casa Vega in
• 52:58
Speaker 2: my neighborhood that they.
• 53:00
Speaker 1: You're still drinking out of your your gallons there?
• 53:02
Speaker 2: We have so many.
• 53:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome. Hi, guys, where do you live in?
• 53:06
Speaker 1: What's happening in? Brian introduced your your girlfriend wife? Friend?
• 53:10
Speaker 4: This is my partner. This is doctor Ellen, a grey doc,
• 53:14
Speaker 4: Hi doc, and uh, we live in Evanston. Illin.
• 53:18
Speaker 5: Oh, I went to Northwestern right, Yeah, so we we
• 53:22
Speaker 5: we both worked here actually too. She works at a
• 53:25
Speaker 5: hospital here and I own a small business on Central Street,
• 53:28
Speaker 5: you know, right down from the stadium.
• 53:31
Speaker 4: And so yeah, we just we do that and Ellen
• 53:34
Speaker 4: is uh eight and yeah, almost nine months pregnant and finish.
• 53:40
  Speaker 1: Congratulations.
• 53:41
Speaker 2: Congratulations. Do you guys know what you're having?
• 53:43
  Speaker 4: A boy?
• 53:44
Speaker 2: Nice person, but yeah, a person.
• 53:48
Speaker 1: Congratulations guys. That's cool.
• 53:50
Speaker 2: Way to go, guys.
• 53:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, so we're you know, it's definitely, uh, anxiety causing
• 53:56
Speaker 5: you know, I we neither of us have had kids before.
• 53:59
Speaker 4: I used to be a teacher.
• 54:01
Speaker 5: But it's not quite the same when you know you
• 54:03
Speaker 5: can send them home at like three o'clock and just
• 54:04
Speaker 5: be front of them. So now it's like they're here
• 54:07
  Speaker 5: for good.
• 54:08
Speaker 2: Okay, But Brian, I'm gonna give you a little.
• 54:09
Speaker 1: Bit of you're talking to the right man, Brian Donald kids.
• 54:13
Speaker 3: Okay, that's what I heard, right, Yeah, something like that.
• 54:16
Speaker 3: He doesn't even remember something like that.
• 54:19
  Speaker 2: Right, that's a great that's a great story. How many
• 54:21
  Speaker 2: kids you got?
• 54:22
Speaker 1: Something like nine thing sixth that I know about.
• 54:26
Speaker 2: So the first year, Brian, there's not much you can do,
• 54:32
Speaker 2: that's the honest to goodness truth, except be supportive. Change diapers.
• 54:38
Speaker 2: But there's not much you can do cause the baby.
• 54:39
Speaker 1: You can can't you say, honey, can I get you anything?
• 54:42
Speaker 3: Absolutely better say that you have to, right, Yeah, that's
• 54:45
Speaker 3: being supportive. So there's not much you can do the
• 54:48
Speaker 3: first year. It's after that where you are you are
• 54:52
Speaker 3: hands on and in it to win it or she's
• 54:54
  Speaker 3: gonna leave you.
• 54:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, yeah, Brian, write that down.
• 55:00
Speaker 5: Yes, yes, she is basically keeping us comfortable so I'm
• 55:03
Speaker 5: not gonna play with that at all.
• 55:06
Speaker 1: Right, Well, I'm so. I'm so happy for you. That's
• 55:08
Speaker 1: exciting and thank you.
• 55:09
Speaker 2: And what do you do?
• 55:10
Speaker 1: You have any names in mind, like Zach or Donald.
• 55:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, I wanted Jennifer Dylan or something like that.
• 55:16
  Speaker 1: That will work.
• 55:19
  Speaker 4: It's a boy.
• 55:20
Speaker 1: So we went with we're gonna even Gabriel and calm.
• 55:24
Speaker 2: Gabe, beautiful, I love it, beautiful.
• 55:26
  Speaker 1: Beautiful name Gabe.
• 55:28
  Speaker 4: Finn O'Malley.
• 55:29
  Speaker 1: Oh, Finn's a good name.
• 55:31
Speaker 2: Too, now, Finn from Star Wars or just Finn.
• 55:34
Speaker 1: Because everything is Star Wars. Donald sometimes it can be.
• 55:38
Speaker 5: I couldn't, honestly, I was thinking more Huck Finn from
• 55:41
Speaker 5: Mark Twain to be okay.
• 55:42
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there's that Fin to way more literary Donald.
• 55:45
Speaker 1: Come on, there's that all right, Brian, go ahead with
• 55:47
Speaker 1: your question for the legendary Donald.
• 55:50
Speaker 4: And it's for both of you.
• 55:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, answer, It definitely relates to what we were talking about.
• 55:56
Speaker 5: But I was curious of which character between you and
• 56:00
Speaker 5: Donald and maybe doctor Cox, do you think was like
• 56:04
Speaker 5: the best dad overall? And then kind of a follow up,
• 56:07
Speaker 5: but like, what do you think their kids would be
• 56:09
Speaker 5: like now? Like fifteen twenty years later.
• 56:12
Speaker 1: Wow, Wow, good question. Well, I do think both characters
• 56:15
Speaker 1: were very excited about their children. And I think we
• 56:20
Speaker 1: saw from a flash forward as I recall that don't
• 56:22
Speaker 1: they end up getting married?
• 56:24
Speaker 2: They do and we lose it.
• 56:25
Speaker 4: Oh that was, like, I think it's the saddest episode.
• 56:28
  Speaker 2: I think.
• 56:29
  Speaker 1: I faintd as I recall I did this, I wiped
• 56:33
Speaker 1: my I fanned my eyes and fainted. Yeah, that's a
• 56:36
  Speaker 1: gift I see all the time. I don't know. I
• 56:40
Speaker 1: think we'd be great parents, because you know, we're both
• 56:43
Speaker 1: characters were again not afraid of showing emotion, not afraid
• 56:48
Speaker 1: of being affectionate. My father was very a very affectionate
• 56:52
Speaker 1: man and gave me hugs and kissed me and and
• 56:57
Speaker 1: and I always thought that that was and I love
• 57:01
Speaker 1: that he did that. And I think that both Turk
• 57:04
Speaker 1: and j D would be very involved. They're the kind
• 57:06
Speaker 1: of fathers that would want to be all over it.
• 57:09
Speaker 1: Not one of those people's like, all right, you to
• 57:11
Speaker 1: the woman, you handle it. I'll i'll coach sports one day.
• 57:16
Speaker 1: That was that was not my experience.
• 57:19
Speaker 2: What I think. And j D co parented too, you
• 57:23
Speaker 2: know what I mean.
• 57:24
Speaker 3: I think they helped each other out as far as
• 57:27
Speaker 3: raising their kids went. You know, they say it takes
• 57:30
Speaker 3: a village to raise a child, and I think their
• 57:34
Speaker 3: little village. I think the hospital or you know, wherever
• 57:38
Speaker 3: they wound up when the show ended. I believe they
• 57:43
Speaker 3: still lived in the same proximity of each other. I
• 57:46
Speaker 3: think there it was a communal raising of the children,
• 57:50
  Speaker 3: even even Uh, I think yeah, I think j D
• 57:55
  Speaker 3: Uh and Uh.
• 57:56
Speaker 2: What was what was Elizabeth Banks character's name, Kim? Was
• 58:00
  Speaker 2: it Kim?
• 58:01
  Speaker 1: Kim?
• 58:02
Speaker 2: You didn't know, Zach.
• 58:06
Speaker 1: I was waiting for Brian. I was waiting for Brian.
• 58:08
  Speaker 1: I was I was like, I was like this, I
• 58:11
Speaker 1: was like about to say it. I was like pretending
• 58:13
Speaker 1: that my mouth was opening, and then Brian said, Kim.
• 58:15
Speaker 4: Donald, I was waiting for Zach.
• 58:17
Speaker 1: Sorry, So my baby mama, my baby mama.
• 58:19
  Speaker 2: Right.
• 58:19
Speaker 3: So I think both kids, the one that he that
• 58:22
Speaker 3: JD had with Kim and the one that he had
• 58:24
Speaker 3: with Elliott Uh, and then Turk's kids as well.
• 58:27
Speaker 2: I think they they were raised together and they grew
• 58:30
  Speaker 2: up together.
• 58:32
Speaker 5: I think in one of the episode, you try to like,
• 58:34
Speaker 5: I think they got you were trying to set them
• 58:35
  Speaker 5: up right.
• 58:36
Speaker 4: Like it was one of the series finales.
• 58:38
Speaker 2: Maybe that we were trying to set the kids up.
• 58:40
Speaker 4: Yeah, weren't they like they met or something and they remember.
• 58:45
Speaker 1: I remember I remember doing an episode in the park.
• 58:47
Speaker 3: Where Gloquist dolls like, dum, of course, do you have
• 58:53
  Speaker 3: another question?
• 58:55
Speaker 4: I mean one of my other questions was just, you know,
• 58:57
Speaker 4: advice for being a dad. But you you kind of
• 58:59
  Speaker 4: already covered that.
• 59:00
Speaker 3: You got this, dude, you got. I mean, it's listen,
• 59:03
Speaker 3: my advice, and I'm gonna be honest with you. My
• 59:05
Speaker 3: advice ain't shit. I'm gonna keep it one hundred with you.
• 59:07
  Speaker 4: You know.
• 59:08
Speaker 3: It's it's how you two decide to do the thing,
• 59:12
Speaker 3: you know what I mean. My advice I can all
• 59:14
Speaker 3: I can say is just just show as much love
• 59:17
Speaker 3: as you can to your boy.
• 59:19
  Speaker 2: That's so important.
• 59:20
Speaker 4: I like what Zach was saying too.
• 59:22
Speaker 5: I mean, I mean and Ellen were joking, but I
• 59:23
Speaker 5: was like, I think, like the fact that JD was
• 59:26
Speaker 5: a sensy, you know, like being sensitive is like an
• 59:29
Speaker 5: important thing to impart in kids early, especially boys I
• 59:33
Speaker 5: think nowadays, And so I think that's one of our
• 59:35
Speaker 5: you know, our big focuses for him.
• 59:37
Speaker 1: And and just let them be whoever they are.
• 59:39
  Speaker 4: You know.
• 59:39
Speaker 1: A testament to my father was he wasn't. He was
• 59:41
Speaker 1: so into sports, my dad, but he wasn't trying to
• 59:44
Speaker 1: make me a job.
• 59:45
  Speaker 2: He wasn't.
• 59:46
Speaker 1: Unfortunately, he was also into theater, which which is what
• 59:48
Speaker 1: I took to. But but I mean, just like my advice.
• 59:51
Speaker 1: And again, I have no kids, so don't listen to me.
• 59:53
Speaker 1: I have dogs, and I can highly recommend great training.
• 59:55
Speaker 2: Uh try that, but with the kid.
• 59:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I always say to Donald when I
• 1:00:02
Speaker 1: when I say to when I'm with Donald and his
• 1:00:03
Speaker 1: kids are misbehaving, I'm like, why don't you just put
• 1:00:05
Speaker 1: him in the crate?
• 1:00:05
  Speaker 2: Dude?
• 1:00:05
Speaker 1: That works great for my puppy.
• 1:00:07
Speaker 3: My daughter looked at me and she was like, you're
• 1:00:08
Speaker 3: gonna put me in the Crate's right now?
• 1:00:13
  Speaker 2: She's like, but I'm not a dog, But I mean,
• 1:00:16
  Speaker 2: just let them.
• 1:00:16
Speaker 1: One of the things I one of the things I
• 1:00:19
Speaker 1: really cherished about my relationship with my father was that
• 1:00:21
Speaker 1: he was so accepting of whoever his kids were. And
• 1:00:25
  Speaker 1: I you know, you're obviously it's nature nurture. You're going
• 1:00:28
Speaker 1: to be shaping a part of who they are, of
• 1:00:30
Speaker 1: course too, but but let them show you who they are.
• 1:00:33
Speaker 1: And then and then and then celebrate that and let
• 1:00:35
Speaker 1: that flourish. Again. That's coming from someone with no children,
• 1:00:38
Speaker 1: but it is coming from someone who who had a
• 1:00:40
Speaker 1: great dad and and and and was really appreciative that
• 1:00:43
  Speaker 1: he was.
• 1:00:43
Speaker 4: Like that, Well, can I ask one more things sort
• 1:00:46
Speaker 4: of related? But did you guys you know I didn't
• 1:00:49
Speaker 4: like look up biographies. Do you guys have siblings?
• 1:00:51
Speaker 2: Yes? I have several siblings.
• 1:00:53
Speaker 3: I have four brothers, two that I grew up with
• 1:00:58
Speaker 3: and two that I I did not grow up with.
• 1:01:01
Speaker 3: But we were a big family. I think that's why
• 1:01:04
Speaker 3: I have such a big family. Now I feel like
• 1:01:06
Speaker 3: it's the more, the.
• 1:01:07
  Speaker 2: Merrier I have.
• 1:01:09
Speaker 1: I have two, I have three. Sorry, let me start again.
• 1:01:14
Speaker 1: I had four children total in my family, and I'm sorry,
• 1:01:17
Speaker 1: I'm struggling with this. Just to be honest, I lost
• 1:01:19
Speaker 1: my sister two years ago, so I'm like literally trying.
• 1:01:22
Speaker 1: It's okay, but I'm trying to answer this question honestly,
• 1:01:25
Speaker 1: and it's like I'm having to recount. There were four
• 1:01:27
Speaker 1: children in my family, and then my parents got divorced
• 1:01:29
Speaker 1: and remarried and I gained three stepsisters, so two stepsisters
• 1:01:33
Speaker 1: on one side, one step sister on the other side,
• 1:01:36
Speaker 1: so we were a huge family and and yeah, so
• 1:01:40
Speaker 1: I also think I should have more So sorry, sorry guys,
• 1:01:43
Speaker 1: but you're gonna have to have more kids so they can.
• 1:01:45
Speaker 5: Well that's what I was thinking, because we only have
• 1:01:47
Speaker 5: the one, and that's probably gonna be it, so, you know,
• 1:01:50
Speaker 5: the whole only child, especially nowadays when I don't even
• 1:01:52
Speaker 5: know when he'll be able to hang out with other kids,
• 1:01:55
Speaker 5: you know, or if he'll be able to go to
• 1:01:57
Speaker 5: preschool or stuff like that daycare.
• 1:01:59
Speaker 1: Right, I think you got it some years before. You
• 1:02:01
Speaker 1: be worried about that, so you'll believe.
• 1:02:04
Speaker 3: Vaccines or will be infended and we can all go
• 1:02:09
Speaker 3: back to a new normal, right sometime within a year
• 1:02:13
  Speaker 3: or two.
• 1:02:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be awesome. Is the keg still open
• 1:02:17
Speaker 1: in Evanston? The bar? No, that's where we used to
• 1:02:21
Speaker 1: go and try and sneak in with our fake id's.
• 1:02:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, we're like, that's probably why they close type place.
• 1:02:28
Speaker 4: The name of your place, it's called Beer on Central.
• 1:02:32
Speaker 4: It's not very inventive because.
• 1:02:33
Speaker 1: I want us to do an ad for right now,
• 1:02:35
Speaker 1: We're gonna do an ad for it. Donald, But I'm
• 1:02:37
Speaker 1: in Evanston, Illinois, and I want a beer. You know
• 1:02:39
  Speaker 1: where I go?
• 1:02:39
Speaker 2: Where do you go, Zach?
• 1:02:40
Speaker 1: I go to Beer on Central?
• 1:02:42
  Speaker 2: Beer on Central?
• 1:02:43
  Speaker 5: Oh?
• 1:02:44
Speaker 1: Yes, Oh it's a place and it's in Evanston. And
• 1:02:46
Speaker 1: if you're gonna buy beer, it's the best place to
• 1:02:49
Speaker 1: buy beer. It's called beer on Central.
• 1:02:51
Speaker 2: Is it on Central?
• 1:02:52
Speaker 1: It's on Central. It's called beer on Central.
• 1:02:54
  Speaker 2: Awesome.
• 1:02:55
Speaker 1: And you know a lot of Northwestern students are always
• 1:02:58
Speaker 1: looking for a place to buy beer. Yeah. Do you
• 1:03:00
  Speaker 1: tell Keggs Brian?
• 1:03:02
Speaker 4: We don't, but I mean after this, I can.
• 1:03:04
Speaker 1: Yes, Brian is gonna change his whole business model to
• 1:03:07
Speaker 1: offer kegs to all you.
• 1:03:08
Speaker 4: Can advertisement, I'll do that.
• 1:03:10
Speaker 1: Yes, this is worth millions of dollars in free advertising.
• 1:03:12
Speaker 4: Yeah no, this is insane.
• 1:03:14
Speaker 1: So Donald Central Beer on Central.
• 1:03:16
Speaker 3: The next time I'm in Evanston, Illinois, I am going
• 1:03:19
Speaker 3: to check out Beer on Central.
• 1:03:22
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 1:03:22
Speaker 1: And you know what, Donald, You know what, Donald, I
• 1:03:24
Speaker 1: might even just go to Evanston to buy beer from
• 1:03:27
  Speaker 1: Beer on Central.
• 1:03:29
Speaker 2: You know what, if you do, just tell him, Brian
• 1:03:31
  Speaker 2: O'Malley Senia.
• 1:03:32
Speaker 1: I will Brian, what's a beer that you are the.
• 1:03:37
  Speaker 2: Only one there?
• 1:03:38
Speaker 4: So like Brian now doing everything.
• 1:03:40
Speaker 1: Brian for those of people who are listening, who like
• 1:03:44
Speaker 1: who like beer? Can you recommend one of your micro
• 1:03:48
Speaker 1: brewer or fancy beers that people should try that you
• 1:03:51
  Speaker 1: highly recommend.
• 1:03:53
Speaker 4: You know, right now?
• 1:03:54
Speaker 5: Like what's really popular is, like I was drinking earlier,
• 1:03:56
Speaker 5: these like hazy I pas there tend to be like
• 1:03:59
Speaker 5: kind of strong, very juicy, not bitter, very popular. This
• 1:04:03
  Speaker 5: one's from Saint Eron. They're great, hot butcher. There's a
• 1:04:05
Speaker 5: bunch of really cool ones in the city.
• 1:04:07
Speaker 1: So so Saint amazing. So Saint Aaron is the brand
• 1:04:11
  Speaker 1: this one.
• 1:04:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I'm having now is a Saint Aaron.
• 1:04:13
Speaker 1: Can I get that anywhere? Can I get that in
• 1:04:15
  Speaker 1: Los Angeles? No?
• 1:04:16
Speaker 4: Like right now, we only do local stuff, oh much,
• 1:04:19
  Speaker 4: only doing.
• 1:04:20
Speaker 1: That's even cool. One of the other things I like
• 1:04:22
Speaker 1: about beer on Central Donald it's all it's all local beer.
• 1:04:26
Speaker 2: Oh you're talking about beer on Central. Yeah.
• 1:04:29
Speaker 1: One of the things that one of my favorite things
• 1:04:31
Speaker 1: about beer on Central in Evanston, Illinois is that it's
• 1:04:34
Speaker 1: all all stocked with local breweries.
• 1:04:39
  Speaker 2: That sounds delicious.
• 1:04:40
  Speaker 1: I like, I p a a lot by the way,
• 1:04:42
Speaker 1: and this is gonna sound really lame in Hollywood, but
• 1:04:44
Speaker 1: I'm gluten free and there are some really good gluten
• 1:04:48
Speaker 1: free ip A beers. Yeah, we have some too. There's
• 1:04:51
Speaker 1: one called Omission. I'll give a shout out too. And
• 1:04:54
Speaker 1: there's one I think called Gutenberger, not Steve Gutenberg. Glutenberg Glutenberg, yeah,
• 1:05:00
Speaker 1: Gluten in the title. So there you go. I'm giving
• 1:05:02
Speaker 1: those beers a shout out, and they should advertise with
• 1:05:04
Speaker 1: us because we're getting such a wonderful advertisement to beer.
• 1:05:07
Speaker 4: You guys, out of box, you know, give me an address.
• 1:05:11
Speaker 2: I'm not giving you my address, give me a box.
• 1:05:16
  Speaker 5: I know.
• 1:05:16
Speaker 1: We don't want to take your your wares. We don't
• 1:05:18
Speaker 1: want to take your weares. We want you to you
• 1:05:20
Speaker 1: need to make that money for this baby.
• 1:05:22
Speaker 2: That's right. So that being said, if you're ever in Evanston, Illinois,
• 1:05:30
Speaker 2: the place to go for a great local beer, Beer
• 1:05:34
  Speaker 2: on Central.
• 1:05:34
Speaker 1: Beer on Central, everybody Beer on Central, and uh listen, guys,
• 1:05:38
Speaker 1: thanks for coming on, thanks for the good questions, thanks
• 1:05:40
Speaker 1: for telling us about beer on Central, and how fun
• 1:05:43
Speaker 1: in Emman's Illinois I spent I spent four years there
• 1:05:46
Speaker 1: and had a great time. Although it's too fucking cold
• 1:05:48
  Speaker 1: for human beings.

• 1:06:59
  Speaker 1: do you.
• 1:06:59
  Speaker 2: I'm a huge drinker. I just you know, it's fine.
• 1:07:03
  Speaker 2: I find yeah, I find that it's a little heavy
• 1:07:06
Speaker 2: for me. That's the only thing.
• 1:07:07
Speaker 1: It just feels like ship when you're working out and
• 1:07:08
Speaker 1: trying to stay thin and then you go have a
• 1:07:10
Speaker 1: fucking big ass thick beer and you're like, I might
• 1:07:12
Speaker 1: as well have a milkshake.
• 1:07:14
Speaker 2: Right, I like hard liquor. Yeah, I know, I like, Oh,
• 1:07:17
Speaker 2: I know, you're an asshole. Well no, I I you know.
• 1:07:22
Speaker 3: I it was single de Mayo yesterday, so and the
• 1:07:26
Speaker 3: last time I had to kill it was the last
• 1:07:27
Speaker 3: thing that I had in the in the in the cupboard.
• 1:07:30
Speaker 3: But but I truly like, I like a good bourbon
• 1:07:32
  Speaker 3: or Scotch.
• 1:07:33
Speaker 1: What about Corvassier? No, what is what is Corvassier?
• 1:07:38
  Speaker 2: I don't it's a it's a drink. It's a it's
• 1:07:40
  Speaker 2: a it's a brown liquor.
• 1:07:42
Speaker 1: You know, for a while I was at Corvossier. She's looking.
• 1:07:46
Speaker 2: I was a Hennessy drinker for a while, you know,
• 1:07:49
Speaker 2: or ian J. I liked ian J back in the day.
• 1:07:54
Speaker 1: I don't know what any of these drinks are.
• 1:07:55
Speaker 2: You don't know what Hennessy is.
• 1:07:56
Speaker 1: I've heard of Hennessy, but I don't think I've ever tried.
• 1:07:58
Speaker 3: I don't know what You've had an incredible hulk before
• 1:08:00
Speaker 3: and you don't know what hennessy is. Do you remember
• 1:08:02
  Speaker 3: the incredible Hulk?
• 1:08:02
Speaker 1: Oh, we used to play poker and you would make
• 1:08:05
Speaker 1: a Oh it's konyak, she says. We used to play
• 1:08:08
Speaker 1: poker and you would make a drink called the Hulk.
• 1:08:11
Speaker 1: Was that a real drink or you made it up?
• 1:08:13
  Speaker 2: I didn't make that up.
• 1:08:14
Speaker 3: But when you mixed Tennessee and not alas a but hypnotic,
• 1:08:20
Speaker 3: hennessy and hypnotic mixed together sounds horrible. Oh, but it
• 1:08:24
Speaker 3: would turn Hulk green and you'd only need one. It
• 1:08:28
Speaker 3: was so sweet, right, But you'd only need one to
• 1:08:30
Speaker 3: knock you on your ass. And we would play poker
• 1:08:34
Speaker 3: and the crew would come over, you know, Calvin would
• 1:08:37
Speaker 3: come over, Ethan would come over. You would come over,
• 1:08:40
Speaker 3: and we'd drink that all night and freaking be hammered
• 1:08:45
Speaker 3: until like four o'clock, five o'clock in the morning.
• 1:08:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, playing poker. Have you ever had a cement mixer?
• 1:08:51
Speaker 2: What the heck is that?
• 1:08:52
Speaker 1: It's fucking nasty. It's two different things. You guys can
• 1:08:55
Speaker 1: google it if you want to puke. I remember doing
• 1:08:57
Speaker 1: this on my twenty first birthday and I puked. But
• 1:09:01
Speaker 1: it's two different alcohols you put in your mouth and
• 1:09:04
Speaker 1: they solidify when they react with each other, and it
• 1:09:07
Speaker 1: feels like a cementy oatmeal thing.
• 1:09:10
  Speaker 2: That's disgusting.
• 1:09:11
Speaker 1: It's so gross. Is it's the kind of thing that
• 1:09:14
Speaker 1: college kids do shots of, like Jaegermeister, do you ever
• 1:09:16
Speaker 1: do shots at Yegermeister. Yeah, I'm proud to say that
• 1:09:20
Speaker 1: at forty five years old, I can't drink like that anymore,
• 1:09:22
Speaker 1: nor do I want to hangover is like four days.
• 1:09:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I've learned a little thing.
• 1:09:27
Speaker 1: You remember we did that thing in Scrubs. Yeah, pd,
• 1:09:29
Speaker 1: like we did that thing in Scrubs that it's become
• 1:09:32
Speaker 1: so relevant in my life. I don't know what episode
• 1:09:34
Speaker 1: it was, but we went around the table of all
• 1:09:37
Speaker 1: the different ages. Who is the was Mandy the many
• 1:09:43
Speaker 1: many more? And then Sarah and then Judy and then
• 1:09:46
Speaker 1: Krista and they were all hungover, and the camera went
• 1:09:50
Speaker 1: around and showed all the different levels of how a
• 1:09:53
Speaker 1: hangover affects different ages.
• 1:09:55
Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, And then by.
• 1:09:56
Speaker 1: The time it got to Christa, she had sunglasses on
• 1:09:58
  Speaker 1: and was asleep.
• 1:09:59
Speaker 2: And just blacked out. Yeah, with a smile on her face.
• 1:10:02
Speaker 1: I think of that fantasy over not fantasy. I think
• 1:10:04
Speaker 1: of that moment all the time, because man, a hangover
• 1:10:07
Speaker 1: at forty five is not a hangover at twenty five.
• 1:10:10
  Speaker 2: No, it's not.
• 1:10:11
Speaker 1: Listen, I miss you, do you? It's always so nice
• 1:10:15
Speaker 1: to touch base with you.
• 1:10:17
Speaker 2: Do you really miss me?
• 1:10:19
  Speaker 6: What you do?
• 1:10:19
  Speaker 2: Man? I?
• 1:10:19
Speaker 1: I I. If the world were open, I'd have you over.
• 1:10:23
Speaker 1: We'd sit by the pool, we'd have we'd have a Margarita.
• 1:10:25
Speaker 2: I would I bring my picture of Margarita to do you.
• 1:10:28
Speaker 1: Bring your picture over. I'm supposed to write today, but
• 1:10:31
Speaker 1: I would. I would scrap writing and just join you
• 1:10:33
Speaker 1: by the pool for Margarita's. That's what would happen today.
• 1:10:36
Speaker 2: You're working right now, huh I am.
• 1:10:38
Speaker 1: I'm writing. Look you want to see, I'll show you.
• 1:10:39
Speaker 1: Look at this. This is just showing the shitting fucking around.
• 1:10:42
Speaker 1: This is the first draft.
• 1:10:44
Speaker 2: Wow, you're for real about it. He just pulled out
• 1:10:47
  Speaker 2: a two finger.
• 1:10:49
Speaker 1: That's about an inch of Yeah, it's way too long
• 1:10:51
Speaker 1: right now. A typical screen a typical screenplay for those
• 1:10:55
Speaker 1: of you not in the know, is roughly one hundred
• 1:10:57
Speaker 1: and twenty pages, because they say roughly a script works
• 1:11:02
Speaker 1: out to a page a minute, and you don't want
• 1:11:04
Speaker 1: your movie typically to exceed one hundred and twenty minutes,
• 1:11:07
Speaker 1: and this first draft is one hundred and forty four pages,
• 1:11:10
Speaker 1: so there'll be lots of cutting to occur. But it's happening. Donald.
• 1:11:13
Speaker 1: The wheels are turning good for you. Yeah, for you.
• 1:11:16
Speaker 1: Aren't you gonna ask what you usually ask when I
• 1:11:18
  Speaker 1: write a screenplay.
• 1:11:19
Speaker 2: And any black people in it?
• 1:11:21
Speaker 1: There are black people in it, and there might even
• 1:11:23
Speaker 1: be a part for you.
• 1:11:24
Speaker 2: A good part, or you're just gonna throw me a
• 1:11:26
  Speaker 2: little bone.
• 1:11:27
Speaker 1: You'll probably have to audition. When I gave Donald my
• 1:11:31
Speaker 1: first draft of Gardens Date, he said, are.
• 1:11:34
Speaker 2: You said to me, I really want you to read
• 1:11:35
Speaker 2: my script. I really want you to.
• 1:11:37
Speaker 1: Maybe it was my first screenplay. He was my new
• 1:11:39
Speaker 1: best friend, and I said, I'd really like you to
• 1:11:42
Speaker 1: read this. And he said, are there any black people
• 1:11:44
Speaker 1: in it? And I said, there's there's one or two.
• 1:11:48
Speaker 1: One you're not right for because he's uh, he's an
• 1:11:51
Speaker 1: African man that's been adopted by Natalie Portman's family, and
• 1:11:55
Speaker 1: the other is is being.
• 1:11:58
Speaker 2: Played At the time, you had given the part to
• 1:12:01
Speaker 2: most Death, is what you said to me?
• 1:12:03
Speaker 1: No, I didn't, Yeah you did. Really that method it
• 1:12:06
Speaker 1: was method It was always method man.
• 1:12:07
Speaker 3: It was okay, so then it was method man at
• 1:12:09
Speaker 3: the time you said, you said yeah, and then the
• 1:12:11
Speaker 3: other part I gave to method Man.
• 1:12:13
Speaker 2: Yeah. And I knew right then and there that I
• 1:12:15
Speaker 2: would never read that script.
• 1:12:16
Speaker 1: And so Donald Donald in protest because I had given
• 1:12:19
Speaker 1: the role to method Man, never read the script.
• 1:12:25
Speaker 3: It's a great movie, though, Thank you, thanks very very
• 1:12:28
  Speaker 3: very well received.
• 1:12:29
Speaker 1: Also, thank you, and and you're in you know, I
• 1:12:32
Speaker 1: could thank you. Oh Dan's giving thumbs up and Donald,
• 1:12:35
Speaker 1: I didn't make the same mistake twice, and I made
• 1:12:37
Speaker 1: sure to put you in Wish I Was Here.
• 1:12:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was very happy to be in that
• 1:12:42
Speaker 2: movie as well. Great movie. Mandy Patamkin, Holy cow.
• 1:12:45
Speaker 1: Yeah. And you were very funny in that movie.
• 1:12:46
Speaker 3: You only had Mandy Patimkin. Let's let's get Mandy pa Timpkin,
• 1:12:50
Speaker 3: Josh Gadd Holy cow. Yeah, Kate Hudson, Holy cow.
• 1:12:55
Speaker 1: Yeah. There's some great performance performance funny and in the movie.
• 1:12:59
Speaker 1: Let's give a shout out to the film Wish I
• 1:13:00
Speaker 1: Was Here, which you can you can see. I think
• 1:13:02
Speaker 1: it's on Netflix, you know how I know it's on Netflix,
• 1:13:04
Speaker 1: at least in the United States. Is Joey King, who
• 1:13:07
Speaker 1: plays my daughter, has become so fairy king, holy cow,
• 1:13:10
Speaker 1: Joey King steals the movie and has become so famous
• 1:13:13
Speaker 1: that Netflix has redone the poster, so it's just Joey
• 1:13:17
Speaker 1: King's face. Even if you don't watch the movie, do
• 1:13:22
Speaker 1: me a favor and go to your Netflix and look
• 1:13:24
Speaker 1: up Wish I was here, and you will see it's
• 1:13:25
Speaker 1: a picture of Joey King's head because she has become
• 1:13:28
Speaker 1: such a big star, and particularly on Netflix with with
• 1:13:31
Speaker 1: with Kissing Booth, which was like one of their most
• 1:13:34
Speaker 1: watched movies ever. And I just thought it was funny
• 1:13:36
Speaker 1: that Netflix was like, no, we don't need Kate Hudson,
• 1:13:39
Speaker 1: Zach Braff, Josh Godden, many Potanka on the poster. Just
• 1:13:41
Speaker 1: a shot of Joey's head, but much deserved.
• 1:13:44
Speaker 2: She's a superstar, that she has a superstar.
• 1:13:46
Speaker 1: Thank you so much for listening to Fake Doctor's Real Friends.
• 1:13:50

• 1:13:56
Speaker 3: About sure we made about a bunch of talks and
• 1:14:04
  Speaker 3: nurses and.
• 1:14:05
Speaker 1: The janitor who learned I said he's a story next
• 1:14:10
Speaker 1: all should know so Gau
