- 0:15Speaker 2: And then his Congressman Jerry Nandler America NTS done an.
- 0:20Speaker 1: A great, great job for us. And Jerry and I
- 0:23Speaker 1: served together in Congress for a little while and he
- 0:25Speaker 1: always made me feel so connected to his beloved district
- 0:29Speaker 1: as well.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So thank you, Jerry.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I have met every form with Linda Rosenthal, your greatest
- 0:34Speaker 1: sembling member. What a chanceion she is for you and
- 0:38Speaker 1: our state legislature were dear friends.
- 0:40Speaker 2: And Gail Brewer eleven accounts.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Ever, we spent so much time together, and I was
- 0:49Speaker 1: first running for lieutenant governor and continuing on in many positions,
- 0:52Speaker 1: and he used to comment on my schedule and I said, no, no,
- 0:56Speaker 1: you need to see Gail Brewer's schedule. She is everywhere
- 0:59Speaker 1: because she cares so deeply bought her constituents.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I want that just dropped buys a lot on your minds.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'm going to walk around all the tables and say hi,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and then have a special conversation for I go. But
- 1:08Speaker 1: I'm very very very concerned, as is Jerry as he
- 1:12Speaker 1: sees what's happening in Washington that there's now a new
- 1:16Speaker 1: assault on seniors, an assault on seniors buy the Trump
- 1:20Speaker 1: administration that.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Is now taking away a subsidy.
- 1:25Speaker 1: For prescription drugs. So your monthly premiums will now go up.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Thank you to the Republicans in Washington.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And I want to be aware of this because I
- 1:35Speaker 1: find this abhorrent, especially when we were told that prices
- 1:40Speaker 1: were going to come down on day one.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Remember that promise.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Of course they're coming down prescription drugs, groceries and everything.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Has anybody's seen that happen? Did? I sure have it?
- 1:50Speaker 2: We are still waiting for that and has been too long.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And I also want to say it when I think
- 1:57Speaker 1: about healthcare costs though we're doing our t we can
- 2:00Speaker 1: in the state of New York, because I appreciate what
- 2:03Speaker 1: you do.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I've been a member of AARP.
- 2:05Speaker 1: A lot longer than you think, by the way, I've
- 2:07Speaker 1: had my power in a long time.
- 2:08Speaker 2: So I'm a senior. I'm actually a grandmother. Okay, so
- 2:11Speaker 2: let's let me give that out there.
- 2:14Speaker 1: But you've expended the Medicare savings program that helps seniors
- 2:20Speaker 1: save over seven.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Thousand dollars a year here in the state of New York.
- 2:23Speaker 1: That's what we're doing to try and counteract what is
- 2:26Speaker 1: happening in Washington. Also, we have so many people who
- 2:29Speaker 1: have to receive insulin for their diabetes and co pays
- 2:33Speaker 1: are expensive. We eliminated co pays in the State of
- 2:36Speaker 1: New York, saving twenty five million dollars.
- 2:38Speaker 2: But your but you no longer have to faith for that.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You or your family EpiPens.
- 2:43Speaker 1: We make sure that those are covered as well, cancer
- 2:47Speaker 1: screenings and detection and all these things that can make
- 2:50Speaker 1: your life more and rich because as I know, the
- 2:52Speaker 1: spell a lot more time with the doctor's office as
- 2:54Speaker 1: you get older, and I want.
- 2:56Speaker 2: To make sure that you have the ability to cover
- 2:58Speaker 2: those costs. And addition to every he elship name, we've.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Cut middle class taxes, the lowest tax rate cut in
- 3:05Speaker 1: seventy years. We're giving a billion dollars back working with
- 3:09Speaker 1: our friends like Linden the legislature, and billion dollars back
- 3:12Speaker 1: to help cover utility bills. We did inflation rebate checks.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We're helping cover the costs of childcare for your grandkids
- 3:20Speaker 1: and your kids to be able to affoard to live
- 3:21Speaker 1: in this city. So I just wanted to just touch
- 3:24Speaker 1: base it. I believe it is all of our rights,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but especially our seniors who've already paid their dues, who've
- 3:30Speaker 1: enriched our communities, who simply want to be able to
- 3:33Speaker 1: get through the wonderful years of their lives without being
- 3:36Speaker 1: taxed to death or crushed to death with the high
- 3:39Speaker 1: burden of costs. My comivement is to relieve that vert
- 3:42Speaker 1: and to continue standing up using my voice. Is the
- 3:45Speaker 1: governor of the state of New York, and I am
- 3:47Speaker 1: so proud to represents you, so proud to represent you.
- 3:50Speaker 1: We've used my voice as a leader of twenty million
- 3:53Speaker 1: people and thousands of millions of seniors to stand up
- 3:56Speaker 1: against the Trump administration, shoulder to shoulder like Jerry Nadler
- 4:01Speaker 1: and washing and say enough is enough. Leave our seniors
- 4:04Speaker 1: alone here in New York. I'll continue to fight for
- 4:06Speaker 1: you and protect you. Thank you very much. So look
- 4:11Speaker 1: you hoping New York shop. I'm gonna walk around to
- 4:13Speaker 1: the itis of coepree of a conversation about the cost
- 4:16Speaker 1: of everything.
- 4:16Speaker 2: But feel free to tell me whatever is on your mind.
