One year after the deadly Texas Hill Country floods, scientists at UT Arlington are deploying a cutting-edge flood warning system funded by $4 million from the Governor’s office. Using radar, stream gauges, and predictive models, the system forecasts flood depth in real time — giving communities up to two hours’ warning in some areas. Led by Dr. Nick Fang, the project aims to turn raw data into actionable alerts, while also training the public to respond effectively.
