- 0:10Hello and welcome. You're listening to Galaxy
- 0:13Crashers, the Busted and McFly Podcast, the only podcast where
- 0:18the 2 worlds of Busted and McFly collide.
- 0:20Hosted by us 230 something mums who love nostalgia and all
- 0:25things naughties. I'm Sham and I'm Tay, and on
- 0:29this week's episode we are asking someone outside the off
- 0:32licence to buy us a cheap bottle of vodka because we're heading
- 0:34to the McFly house for a party on Saturday night.
- 0:38We are indeed. And you are all invited to also
- 0:41coming up, this or that Busted in the Wild this week, where
- 0:45we're talking about Mr Charlie Simpson and of course, our song
- 0:48of the Week. Yeah.
- 0:50So how's your week been? Well, it's been a week, let's
- 0:54just put it that way. In a week.
- 0:57It's been a week, we have the lurgy again, so everybody is
- 1:01ill. Molly has been super poorly.
- 1:04She had a temperature of 39.2° last night, which ended up in
- 1:08her sleeping in bed with me and Jack on the sofa and me just not
- 1:12sleeping because obviously I was so worried about her and she was
- 1:15just kicking me in the face all night pretty much.
- 1:17That was lovely for Jack. Oh yeah, great.
- 1:20Yeah. Although he had work today and
- 1:22obviously I couldn't go to work because she's been poorly.
- 1:26But we also had a massive, massive storm down here in, in
- 1:30Cornwall in the tow of the country.
- 1:31Oh, you did? Yeah.
- 1:33Storm Giaretti or whatever it was called.
- 1:35And it was absolutely friggin mental.
- 1:37I'm not going to lie, I am 33 and I don't remember a storm
- 1:40ever being that bad. We've had trees down there were
- 1:45fires on electricity lines. The rugby club in my local town
- 1:49has burnt, literally nearly burnt to the ground because it
- 1:51caught fire with the electricity.
- 1:53Oh my gosh my husband's business partner has had a tree fall on
- 1:58his house and on his car and it's going to cost like 90 grand
- 2:02to get it all fixed. Literally the the roads were
- 2:06closed in every direction you couldn't get anywhere.
- 2:09The people in Saint Ives were stuck in Saint Ives because
- 2:11there was 2 roads to get out of St.
- 2:13Ives and they were both blocked by trees and 55,000 homes were
- 2:17without power and are still nearly 50,000 of them are still
- 2:21without power now three days later.
- 2:23So yeah, mental, How have they got power back?
- 2:27That's literally so Molly's Nursery is one of those, one of
- 2:31those places. So they're not opening until
- 2:32tomorrow at 10 AM and the storm was on Thursday night.
- 2:36So yeah, they've literally had no power.
- 2:38But obviously a workplace like that, it's easy to close.
- 2:41But imagine that being your house and you've got kids.
- 2:43Like, yeah, I would not know how.
- 2:46Like nothing. No TV, no electricity for
- 2:49lights, no kettles, no fridge on, no freezer on, like nothing.
- 2:53Everything you have in your fridge and freezer would be
- 2:56completely ruined. And like people have had to
- 2:58move, move out of their houses and move in with their parents
- 3:01and stuff. And my friend actually gave
- 3:03birth this week. Well, last week, yeah, because
- 3:07it's the 12th now. So I think she gave, she thinks
- 3:10she gave birth, birth on like the 7th.
- 3:12And then then there was a storm. So she literally gave birth and
- 3:16had to move in with her parents because they had no, they've got
- 3:19no power in the house. Absolutely crazy, crazy.
- 3:23So she's got a newborn baby and her nearly 3 year old in and her
- 3:27husband in her house with her mum and dad.
- 3:31So yeah, absolutely mental. But yeah, newborn bubble.
- 3:35I know, imagine, but it's been a pretty crazy week.
- 3:39And then we got ill. So, you know, just to top it all
- 3:41off. But yeah, other than that,
- 3:43nothing major. What about you?
- 3:45Oh, nothing major. That's all the major.
- 3:51Yeah, I know. My week's been fine.
- 3:52We had the storm up here. But the worst thing that
- 3:56happened to me was my bin lage flew away.
- 3:58So. Oh, not the bin lage complain
- 4:00about it. I'm not going to complain.
- 4:02It's not the bin lid. Not the bin lid.
- 4:05We even paid to put our number on that.
- 4:07Jeez. Oh, gosh, don't, don't start.
- 4:10Get the insurance company out, Shan.
- 4:13Yeah. But apart from that, I've not
- 4:15really been up to much this week because of I'm just trying to
- 4:18get back in the swing of being at work again.
- 4:21Yeah, just did my first week back, obviously after the
- 4:26Christmas holidays and I feel like I'm starting a new job
- 4:29again. It's horrible, isn't it?
- 4:32Learn my way around again. Yeah.
- 4:33And also they've put me in a different year group, so I'm
- 4:35like willing to learn a whole new class again.
- 4:39I'm having yeah, routines. You'll get used to it every
- 4:43year, pretty much. I would say.
- 4:45I was told today someone said to me, oh, you're back in year 2
- 4:50again. And I was like, Oh yeah, yeah,
- 4:51yeah, back in year 2. And she was like, well, when I
- 4:53was ATA, it was every four weeks.
- 4:55I was moved and I was changed around me.
- 4:58Yeah, it's not, it's not necessarily that it's not always
- 5:01that short amount of time, but you are likely to be moved
- 5:04around the place. I don't mind.
- 5:07It's just like the class I've been moved to.
- 5:10They are absolutely wonderful. There's a couple of like
- 5:13disruptors and they, every teacher has a different way of
- 5:18dealing with disruptive children, as you would because
- 5:23every teacher has a different way of teaching, but it's
- 5:25learning the new teacher's way of, of dealing with it when
- 5:30you've just trained yourself to learn how the old teacher did
- 5:34it. Do you know what I mean?
- 5:35Yeah. And as well, like that teacher
- 5:37has only been with that group of children for like 3 months.
- 5:40So that she's probably, I say she, she's learning as well,
- 5:43probably still learning the children too.
- 5:45So I reckon really it takes until like spring too, to
- 5:49actually really understand what your class like is like and how
- 5:52they tick, especially if you've got Sen and things like that to,
- 5:56to deal with as well. It's so hard.
- 5:58And I absolutely, I, I applaud TAS because moving around like
- 6:02that is mental. Just like, honestly, month to
- 6:05month, you don't know where they, where you're going to be.
- 6:07Yeah. Feel like I'd just get my seat
- 6:09warm and then I'm off again, off again.
- 6:11Upsetting thing is, is that I've been moved.
- 6:14I, well, I don't know if the listeners know this, but I was
- 6:17in my daughter's class and now I'm not.
- 6:20So I'm not getting any of my updates.
- 6:23I'm not getting any of like before.
- 6:26It would be like Mum, I know your teacher right now that
- 6:30she's having a bit of a difficult 5 minutes, do you mind
- 6:32coming just to give her a cuddle?
- 6:35And I can't be there anymore. But I have been told that she's
- 6:37actually been really, really well behaved this week.
- 6:40Good. And do you know what?
- 6:41I think I'm the bad juju. I don't think it's you, but I do
- 6:45think it is good to have that separation.
- 6:48Definitely. I had two girls in my class who
- 6:51both had Tasmania at the school as well.
- 6:53And not that they relied on their mums at all, like, but if
- 6:56the mums came in you could see the distraction was there like
- 6:59straight away. And that was even in the year 3.
- 7:01So you know, I'm sure she'll, she'll do good.
- 7:04I've got Autumn to start calling me Miss Johns and she's she's
- 7:08not, she'll call me. She'll go mum and I'll ignore
- 7:10her and she'll go Miss Johns. Yes, we do.
- 7:15That's so funny. It's time for this or that.
- 7:21Pretty self-explanatory. So we're going to get straight
- 7:23to it. Yeah.
- 7:25I feel like this is kind of a weekly feature.
- 7:26It's so fun. I I found this one a bit tricky
- 7:30because I wanted to get it like I wanted to relate it to the the
- 7:34song this week because I try and relate it to the band every
- 7:38week. Sorry.
- 7:40I try and relate it to the band that we're we're doing because
- 7:43obviously we do it bi weekly, but I wanted to relate it to the
- 7:49song this week. I wanted to join both bands.
- 7:50So do you know something really funny?
- 7:53I've done exactly the same and we haven't even discussed that.
- 7:56Oh no, we haven't. That's so funny.
- 7:59How funny is that? And also this one might be
- 8:01really awful because I did it myself and I didn't ask ChatGPT
- 8:05this week because I thought, don't give the game away.
- 8:10You normally let's charge GBT because we're 5 minutes before
- 8:13recording. I'm like, shit, I haven't got
- 8:15this, all that. Yeah, come on, AI, no judgement,
- 8:19no judgement. It's got to help some way,
- 8:21hasn't it? Exactly.
- 8:23But this one might be awful because I did it myself.
- 8:26But if it is, don't tell me. So this week, my this or that is
- 8:32so you can have a night out, like a night out on the town, a
- 8:35Saturday night out with Danny and Charlie.
- 8:38But it is completely secret, and if you're packed, you have to
- 8:43deny it ever happened if anyone ever asks you about it.
- 8:45Nope, never happened. You cannot live with the joy of
- 8:50having a fun night out with Charlie and Danny.
- 8:54OR you have a night out with Matt and Dougie.
- 8:58Obviously it's alcohol free, but you have full reigns to tell
- 9:03everybody about it and show them photos.
- 9:06But everyone thinks you're lying and the photo, they think the
- 9:09photos are like AI edited or whatever.
- 9:13That's actually so good. Yeah, I love it.
- 9:17OK Oh, that's tricky. Or do you know what?
- 9:22That's really hard because being on a night out with Danny and
- 9:25Charlie and it being a secret could be actually really fun.
- 9:30Very true. If nobody knows but us, what we
- 9:33where are we going to go? What are we doing?
- 9:35What are we up to? Chaos.
- 9:37Are we taking? Yeah, chaos.
- 9:41But to be on a night out with Matt and Dougie, as in just like
- 9:45those two are just so much fun. I feel like they would be just
- 9:51absolute chaos and they would be so much fun to be around.
- 9:54I was just going to leave it like, oh, go on a night out with
- 9:57Danny and Jolly and get so drunk or go on a night out with Matt
- 10:00and Dougie alcohol free. But I would like I can do an
- 10:03alcohol free night out anyway. So yeah, I am.
- 10:06I'm the sober person on a night out most of the time.
- 10:10Oh, that's so hard. I mean, I don't really care if
- 10:15people think I'm lying because I know it happened.
- 10:18So I think, and I genuinely, I would still love the secret
- 10:23night out with Danny and Charlie, but I think Matt and
- 10:25Dougie just know how to have fun, don't they?
- 10:27Do you know what I mean? I think they would just, they
- 10:30would just be. It would just be feral.
- 10:33Yeah, 100%. And you know what?
- 10:35My answer is exactly the same, but for a different reason.
- 10:37Because I can't shut up. So I wouldn't be able to keep it
- 10:41in secret. You can't keep my mouth shut.
- 10:45To be fair, that secret. Yeah.
- 10:47I don't know whether I could either.
- 10:48I think there would be there. I would be the one leaking it.
- 10:51I'd be telling you first of all, straight away, guess what just
- 10:54happened. And then I would say it on the
- 10:56podcast. Yeah, exactly.
- 10:58And then every but all of our listeners would know which which
- 11:01there's quite a few of you now. So, you know.
- 11:03Yeah. It's not.
- 11:04It's not just a couple of 5000 or something.
- 11:06Yeah, literally. It's not just a couple of 100
- 11:08people anymore. It's actually scary that this
- 11:10many people listen to us. I'm actually, I feel sick, I
- 11:13know and I've just all told you all that you can't trust me but
- 11:15you can, you can. I promise.
- 11:19I love it, I love it. That was really good considering
- 11:22you've done this yourself and didn't ask online.
- 11:24And do you want to know something?
- 11:26Do you want to know I love it but do you also want to know a
- 11:29secret? I wrote mine myself too.
- 11:31Didn't use ChatGPT. My goodness, I'm so proud of us.
- 11:35Is this the funniest thing ever? Because we always use some sort.
- 11:39It's not always ChatGPT. Sometimes I use like Google and
- 11:41like take things and then change them slightly.
- 11:43But I usually have an idea in my head.
- 11:45I did not have a clue today. And then I was like wanted to do
- 11:49it based around the song and I was like, right, this will do
- 11:51because mine barely makes any sense.
- 11:53I'm not going to lie. OK, I'm so proud of this or that
- 12:00party all night and not feel tired or your feet hurt once,
- 12:04but wake up with the world's worst hangover the next day or
- 12:08only be able to party for an hour and never have a hangover
- 12:12again. So, so easy answer for you.
- 12:16I reckon this is the this is the easiest answer ever.
- 12:20Actually, no, no, no. It depends where we are.
- 12:22Depends where we are. Because also on a normal.
- 12:25Yeah, yeah. No, no, carry on.
- 12:27On a normal, on a normal occasion, I would say easily the
- 12:31second one because I'm petrified of having hangovers.
- 12:33I just yeah, I can't. My pure anxiety have given yeah,
- 12:39yeah, this like anxiety inducing.
- 12:41But if we're in swift together and you bet I'm the last one on
- 12:44the dance floor, literally. But I was thinking the same
- 12:47thing when I wrote it. But also I've put in brackets
- 12:50underneath answers now and answers as a young 20 year old
- 12:55very different. That's what I've put in
- 12:56brackets. I actually completely agree with
- 12:59that because I would I as a 20 year old, I would have given
- 13:05anything to be able to wear my shoes all night, but I never
- 13:08did. Oh my God, no.
- 13:09Me neither. Me and you were the ones walking
- 13:11home holding our shoes every time.
- 13:13Yeah, yeah. We we won the bus into the club
- 13:15with our shoes on. The second we got our drink, the
- 13:17shoes are off. Yeah, literally.
- 13:19I think for me it was no shoes on.
- 13:22It was literally within the hour.
- 13:23I was like, what am I doing? And because you've been out for
- 13:26drinks beforehand as well, and you've been in the bars and
- 13:29you've walked up and down Park Street and you've walked from
- 13:31the bloody bus stop or wherever, and your feet are killing you
- 13:34already and you just want to have a nice time, actually.
- 13:37That is until I found my boots that I wore.
- 13:42I can't remember where they were from.
- 13:44I think they were from Topshop. And they were.
- 13:46Do you remember these boots, Shannon?
- 13:48Because I wore them everywhere. They were like black platform
- 13:52boots with like a big rubber chunky heel.
- 13:55And the front was platformed as well.
- 13:57And they had like black straps, like all the way up, like the up
- 14:00to the ankle. Oh my God, they were the best
- 14:03shoes. And I can remember the day I
- 14:05threw them away was heartbreaking.
- 14:06It was like saying goodbye to my former life.
- 14:09Well, I have like a staple outfit.
- 14:11Every time I went on a night out, it was a black skirt.
- 14:14Yeah, like a little little skater skirt, a little black top
- 14:18that was a little bit booby, but not too much.
- 14:20Because I'm not a slut. That was my little because,
- 14:24Because. Because I'm not being funny,
- 14:26right? If you have no boob, or if you
- 14:28have, like, less boob than me, you can wear anything you want.
- 14:32But I have, which isn't hard. It's not hard to have less boob
- 14:36than you. I have too much boob and I just
- 14:39look like a whore. If I have a cleavage out, people
- 14:46will come up to me and be like, how much do you know what I
- 14:49actually shook? Do you know what I mean?
- 14:53So I, I just give myself, I used to wear that black top that had
- 14:59like had like a little bit of do you know, do you remember when
- 15:02they were in fashion? It was like a little bit of like
- 15:05shoelace or something in the bra in the, in the cleavage bit.
- 15:08Do you know what I'm do you know the tops I'm talking about?
- 15:11Yeah, obviously wasn't shoelace, but I think I just like a little
- 15:14bit stringy there and some little black heels.
- 15:19And that was my or you go to outfit.
- 15:22It was always it was always tights because I was scared of
- 15:24getting like some kind of foot disease.
- 15:28So I always wore tights because I as if that thin, that really
- 15:32thin piece of nylon has made so much difference to the foot
- 15:35disease that you're going to get.
- 15:36Hey, I'm telling you now, I'm 32 years old and never had foot
- 15:39disease. Thank you very much disease.
- 15:42I just want fungal toenail. Veruca foot disease.
- 15:53Get a Veruca Thursday. Absolutely dead.
- 15:57I can't believe that it's just the words whore and foot disease
- 16:01in the same paragraph. Well, if you know me, if you
- 16:05know anything about me, you know that those are my obviously my
- 16:08everyday vocabulary. Well, there you go.
- 16:11Well, I think I completely agree with you on the answer.
- 16:15I think I think it depends on the situation.
- 16:17Because actually I'd have a hangover for Swifter Geddon
- 16:21because that's my favourite thing in the whole world.
- 16:23Imagine they had a busted versus McFly night like that.
- 16:27That would just I would be in my element.
- 16:29That would be so much fun. But also actually, do you know
- 16:32what? We always book a hotel for that
- 16:35as well. So one of the biggest scares for
- 16:37a hangover for me is being a parent at the same time.
- 16:40I could do a hangover for Swift, Swift together because we always
- 16:43have a hotel. Yeah.
- 16:45And we're in in a Airbnb where we've got our own bathroom and
- 16:48our own kitchen and we can just get up and do what we need to
- 16:50do. Yeah.
- 16:51Yeah, I get you. And again, my answer now, an
- 16:55hour is enough. I'm going to lie.
- 16:58An hour is enough. I'm ready for bed at 10, like I
- 17:01really am on a night out. If I'm not in bed before
- 17:04midnight, I'm pissed off. Yeah.
- 17:06Give me. Do you know what?
- 17:08To be honest, a good, a good, like Saturday night for me is
- 17:12like a family party where I'm drinking with my family, like my
- 17:17nice family, you know, all the good ones and then all the ones
- 17:21that you don't use Once a year. Do you know what I mean?
- 17:23Am I included? It's a good family.
- 17:26Once a year. Yeah.
- 17:28True. Yeah, exactly.
- 17:31And then like a dance for an hour in their living room when
- 17:34I've reached that like, level of drunk.
- 17:36Yeah, I get it, I get it. Do you know what I mean?
- 17:38Because then there's no heels, I'm dancing for an hour and
- 17:41there's a sofa nearby. Do you know what I mean?
- 17:44I can remember. Can you remember?
- 17:45We had, I can't remember. Was it someone's birthday that
- 17:47at Jack's mum's we had, yeah, her old house.
- 17:51We had that massive party. Wasn't it like Boxing Day on,
- 17:57but when COVID hit like the year COVID hit and they said you
- 18:03could have them because I think was it like 15 people?
- 18:07You were allowed a gathering of 15 people and we had 15 people
- 18:09and every single one of us got COVID apart from your nan, which
- 18:14is with, to be fair, the only person we're really glad didn't
- 18:16get COVID because she would have been really high risk out of all
- 18:20of us. And she like didn't even get
- 18:22literally. Oh my gosh.
- 18:24That was a great night though. I remember that.
- 18:26I remember that Well, that's brilliant.
- 18:27See how it's a musical in the kitchen?
- 18:29Always. There's always High School
- 18:31Musical. Always.
- 18:32I mean, it's not a part of it involved.
- 18:34There's a little bit of what is that musical?
- 18:38The song that me and Louis sing every time is called something
- 18:41like Cruising for a bruising and it's Disney Channel musical.
- 18:48Bugsy Malone. No.
- 18:51Is it Bugsy Malone? No.
- 18:54It's from a Disney Channel musical with some boy who was
- 19:00like blonde and a bit fit when I was that age.
- 19:06Oh my goodness. I think he's called Ross Lynch
- 19:08or something. Teen Beach Movie.
- 19:11That's what it was called. Teen Beach Movie.
- 19:14I never got on that bandwagon, but I remember seeing it be a
- 19:17thing. Me and Kate would watch it all
- 19:20the time and Louis would be like, I'm not watching this, but
- 19:22like, you know, when like your granddad is watching Corrie over
- 19:25the top of a newspaper? That was him.
- 19:28He's doing that. Yeah, he was doing that.
- 19:31He was watching teenage movie over a newspaper.
- 19:34Well, why not? I mean, if there isn't a High
- 19:36School Musical involved, it isn't a party in my in my eyes.
- 19:39Well, there we go. So you all know that we are
- 19:44very, very big musical theatre nerds and absolutely love
- 19:47talking about musicals as much as we can on the podcast without
- 19:50too many people noticing. Well, this week's Busted in the
- 19:55Wild is another is another musical theatre mention.
- 20:00Yes, the one in her name. Mr Charlie Simpson was actually
- 20:04part of War of the World's musical.
- 20:06In the 2025 arena tour, he joined the cast playing the role
- 20:11of The Sun Thoughts of the journalist, which is a key
- 20:14narrator role in the show. Massive character.
- 20:18Like I didn't realise until I looked into this musical because
- 20:21this is one of the I haven't seen this musical and we were
- 20:23just talking before we started recording.
- 20:25Neither of us are like overly familiar with it.
- 20:27We know the movie War of the Worlds, but we don't know the
- 20:31music. Shout out to tom-tom Hiddleston
- 20:35then. But I meant Tom Cruise.
- 20:37Too many Toms. Tom Cruise.
- 20:39There's too many dubs, too many many dubs, too many dubs.
- 20:44Anyway, I was looking into this character, the song Thoughts of
- 20:48the Journalist, which is a very interesting character name, but
- 20:51it's quite a an extra kind of show, isn't it?
- 20:53And this character was famously played by Justin Hayward on the
- 20:58original album. But Charlie has taken on that
- 21:02role and massive songs like The Eve of the War and Forever
- 21:06Autumn, which I listened to earlier and is actually really
- 21:08good. And he portrays the character's
- 21:10perspective on humanity's plight against the Martians.
- 21:14It's very alien involved a role that he yes, very, very a role
- 21:20that he took on as a challenge, he said in an interview.
- 21:23So it's pretty cool role for him.
- 21:26The role was also played by our very own Mr Gary Barlow and also
- 21:31Brian McFadden from Westlife. So some big names there that
- 21:34have played this role. Yeah.
- 21:36Wow. Gosh.
- 21:38Takes me back. That does takes me right back.
- 21:40Although I will say we were just looking at some articles.
- 21:44And in his production was also Max George from The Wanted and
- 21:50Raul Reynolds from and Shikari, which is crazy.
- 21:53Like, that was a big, big show for like, like famous people.
- 21:59Yeah, yeah. And there's been some sort of,
- 22:02we've had a look at when it was running and there's been a
- 22:04little bit of misinformation as to, we couldn't actually get the
- 22:07exact dates, but it looks like it ran between sort of March and
- 22:11April last year. Also, there was some talk about
- 22:14there being some shows in October on a little tour or a
- 22:16show. But we know that Charlie played
- 22:18this role and we know that he really enjoyed it.
- 22:21We've watched an interview, so it's pretty cool.
- 22:23Now we've brought Charlie up a couple of times.
- 22:25It's we're on episode 12. I know he's been McFly and
- 22:29Busted in the Wilds. We've not done loads of Charlie,
- 22:32so it's cool to talk about him a little bit.
- 22:34And I just want to give him an honourable mention because my
- 22:38God has that man got a lot going on.
- 22:40Honestly, he left Busted the first time around because he
- 22:44wanted to focus on one thing. He didn't want to do too much
- 22:48stuff. And now he's fucking.
- 22:49He's all over the shop. Literally, I'm in the middle of
- 22:52the crisis. It's crazy because obviously he
- 22:55was doing this 2025. He was doing the tour 2025 as
- 22:59well. We know he's in Five star.
- 23:01We know that there's all of the president's stuff that's been
- 23:04going on. That shout out to President, Big
- 23:07shout out to President. Big President fan over here.
- 23:10Yes, I know you are we and actually we talked briefly
- 23:14before we started recording. I found a photo in the Daily
- 23:17Mail of Charlie and a couple of the the other band members of
- 23:22president at the airport in Sydney, Australia before their
- 23:25shows in Sydney, Australia. And they weren't covering their
- 23:29identity very well, which we know president is Bigfoot or
- 23:33they wear masks. They don't want their their
- 23:35faces to be revealed. However, they were at Sydney
- 23:38Airport, one of the most, you know, largest, busiest airports
- 23:42in the world with suitcases and guitar cases with the president
- 23:48flag logo on the actual suitcase.
- 23:51So they didn't do a very good job of hiding it.
- 23:53Literally you're a actual idiot. Can we can I say that you're a
- 23:58whole thing idiot? The whole thing is not being
- 24:01found out and you're just there with, you know, the logo and
- 24:04yeah, but you know, it is. How about a black guitar case?
- 24:09He's yeah, true. He probably gave up as well
- 24:11because there were so many people that knew it was him
- 24:13anyway. He probably just thought, fuck
- 24:15this, I'm giving in because it is.
- 24:18Yeah, exactly. We know it is.
- 24:20So, you know, he is a very, very busy guy.
- 24:23He's got so much going on. And like, like you said, then I
- 24:26thought that was quite interesting what you said about
- 24:28he left Busted to focus on one thing, and here he is focusing
- 24:32on like 15 different things all at once.
- 24:34So Mask singing, obviously not that hard.
- 24:37Yeah. Mask singer.
- 24:38Yeah, I remember loads going on. Oh, I love massing it so much.
- 24:42Literally, I need to start. I need to rewatch some of the
- 24:45series that I missed because I've only caught like a few of
- 24:47the series that I've only watched, like the ones that I
- 24:50wanted to watch, if that makes sense.
- 24:53The ones that I knew. Yeah, I'm not.
- 24:56So I like it when I can get into it, but I never actually watch
- 24:59it when it's on. Yeah, I'm I'm more of like a
- 25:02catch up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I saw a couple
- 25:05like it's I'll see clips on TikTok and if I can guess the
- 25:10singer, I'm like, OK, I'm invested.
- 25:13Yeah, I get that. Totally, totally get that.
- 25:17It's a good it's a good show. And the voice starts again soon,
- 25:19doesn't it, with Tom and Danny? Is that this month?
- 25:22I think so. I know they were I know they
- 25:24were recording it a while ago, but I don't watch the voice
- 25:26either. I don't either.
- 25:28But telly person with Tom and Danny being on it, I feel like I
- 25:32might make a bit more of an effort to catch up with it.
- 25:36I don't know. Are they the voice or are they
- 25:38the voice kids? No, they're the voice.
- 25:41They do the actual voice now, don't they?
- 25:43Oh, I don't know. I literally I don't want you.
- 25:45I tell you what I watch on TVI watch traitors.
- 25:49I love traitors. Everything else I watch on
- 25:52Netflix or Amazon Prime or Disney.
- 25:55We absolutely love traders in this house.
- 25:57We've just binged watched a few episodes because it's it's very
- 26:01addictive, isn't it? And then we're like, oh, we want
- 26:03to watch the next one, but we can't because we know that we've
- 26:05got to wait another day and whatnot.
- 26:07I know I'm obsessed with it. And I loved their new like
- 26:09introduction of the red. It was very, very clever.
- 26:14Very, very clever. Also, just putting it a quick
- 26:17note out. I'm sorry if anybody can hear my
- 26:19child crying. She's not well.
- 26:21And her daddy is trying to get her to go to bed.
- 26:24And it's, it's been a, a rough hour by the sounds of it.
- 26:29So yeah, we, we talked about, we talked about Charlie, We've
- 26:32talked about the things that he's been doing.
- 26:33And because we're on a sort of musical theme, we thought we
- 26:36just sort of branch out Busted, Slash, McFly in the Wild and
- 26:39talk a little bit about the other musical credits of the
- 26:43bands, because there are quite a few.
- 26:47So we're starting with Tom, because obviously Tom is
- 26:50everywhere at the moment for Paddington and we know that it's
- 26:54probably one of his biggest works.
- 26:55We know that that that's a massive thing for him.
- 26:57But obviously Tom has also done the Christmasaurus.
- 27:00Which did you see, the Christmasaurus?
- 27:03No, I didn't. I really wanted to get tickets
- 27:06to go and see it. I know.
- 27:07Was it? It was in Plymouth, I think.
- 27:09I think it might have come down a little bit further this time.
- 27:12Yeah. I haven't seen the Christmas
- 27:14stories. I have got read the book, but I
- 27:16haven't haven't seen it. Yeah, I've.
- 27:19And we found out today that there's a Creekers musical as
- 27:22well, which is amazing. Yeah.
- 27:25And it was really funny. I was in a supply on a supply
- 27:27job couple weeks ago before Christmas and in a classroom and
- 27:30there were three children all reading the Creekers.
- 27:32And I was like, I just went over and I was like, it's one of my
- 27:34favourite authors. Well done, well done.
- 27:37Good book in it. Good book.
- 27:39So cool. So.
- 27:40Yeah, so it's just nice to see that young kids, literally they
- 27:43were like year three. We're reading the Creekers.
- 27:45So it's nice that they branching into to that.
- 27:50And then obviously we've got our our Matty boy.
- 27:52Do you want to tell everybody a few of the the credits for his
- 27:57musical life? Yeah, he was in he's been in
- 28:00Wicked, Little Shop, Little Shop of Horrors.
- 28:05He was. In the Shop of Horrors.
- 28:09Excited Footloose Waitress, my personal favourite.
- 28:14And obviously Cabaret, yes. So that's great.
- 28:19Matt is definitely, yeah, he's definitely the musical guy out
- 28:22of all of them. He's definitely the musical guy,
- 28:24isn't he? And obviously we know that Matt
- 28:26starred in EastEnders as well as Stacey Branning's boyfriend.
- 28:32Because also actually, I tell a lot.
- 28:33I did tell a bit of a white lie there because the other TV show
- 28:37I watch on telly is Eastern. Such a loser.
- 28:42It's my 30 minutes. It's my little timer.
- 28:44When I'm getting ready in the morning for work, I give myself
- 28:48an episode of EastEnders to get ready to.
- 28:50Well, everybody's allowed their their little niche drug on the
- 28:55side. Yeah.
- 28:57Guilty, guilty pleasure. I love it.
- 29:01And then if we talk about James, Mr. James Bourne, Oh yeah, my
- 29:05main man. Yes, obviously there was
- 29:07Louisville. But I also found out that though
- 29:09he was part of another writing the music for another musical
- 29:12called Out there, which is a country style musical by James
- 29:17Bone and another guy called Elliot Davis where it tells a
- 29:21three generation story about family and dreams of space,
- 29:25notably featuring a grandfather's Apollo mission
- 29:28connection. So can I just say that is so
- 29:33James Bourne? Isn't it just I was just about
- 29:35to say it is so him. It's unreal.
- 29:37It just screams like honestly a little space boy, like future
- 29:42boy born, you know, James. I feel like I'm really missing
- 29:47James's presence at the moment because I did some searching
- 29:50earlier like what is James Bourne like doing and how is
- 29:53James Bourne? And there's nothing, there's
- 29:54literally nothing about him anywhere.
- 29:56He hasn't posted on his Instagram since before the tour
- 30:00when he posted to say that he wasn't going to be on the tour.
- 30:02And I haven't seen anything from him anywhere.
- 30:06And I'm just so sad. I miss him so much.
- 30:09You know, it's really like, it's actually almost we're we're like
- 30:13voting on worrying. Yeah, it is scary.
- 30:15And it says, you know, that it's a really serious, serious
- 30:18illness that he's dealing with. But like, nobody knows.
- 30:21So obviously you're not listening, James.
- 30:24But if by some chance you stroll, you stroll across this
- 30:28on Spotify, we love you. We we miss you.
- 30:30We hope you're well. But yeah, James has done a few
- 30:34musical things. And then obviously we've got
- 30:35Charlie with now doing or having done last year, War of the
- 30:38Worlds. So yeah, we wanted to and we
- 30:41put, I put a little bit of a note at the end of this and it
- 30:44was Danny and Harry and Dougie. You need to get going, please.
- 30:47And then Shannon was like, why don't we Dreamcast them?
- 30:50And we spent maybe 25 minutes before this podcast when we were
- 30:53going to just get on with it tonight because I'm not feeling
- 30:56great. And my daughter's I'll talking
- 30:57about our dreamcasting for everybody else in McFly.
- 31:02Yes. So shall we go through a few?
- 31:04Do you want to do your Danny first?
- 31:07Yes, so I see Danny as very ladies choice Link Larkin from
- 31:14Hairspray ladies. I just see him with his little
- 31:18quiff and his little curly bit singing a song about his penis.
- 31:23It's the hip movements he does the the little jivy hips.
- 31:29I'm doing them not that we're being recorded, but I'm doing
- 31:31the jivey hits right now. You can imagine what I look
- 31:34like. Like I see him singing that song
- 31:36and I think his voice like the raspy tones would suit it.
- 31:40And I also have written down Marius from Les Mis, but hear me
- 31:43out. Not like Eddie Redmayne Marius,
- 31:47like I feel, I feel his voice would really suit the songs that
- 31:53Marius sings. Yeah.
- 31:55He could make them a bit like raspy and powerful.
- 31:58Yeah, I know he's a bit old for both of those things that I've
- 32:02just that I've given, but I just think that he would smash
- 32:08Marius's songs out the park. He would, to be fair.
- 32:11I could hear him seeing 24601. Yes.
- 32:14Like, I just, I think his voice, he's got a proper powerhouse
- 32:18voice when he wants to use it, would be so good in Les Mis
- 32:22somewhere. And I chose Marius because, you
- 32:25know, he's notoriously the best looking character.
- 32:28PHIT fit. Yeah, but he could be anyone.
- 32:33Yeah, name is, really. But yeah.
- 32:35Link Larkin from Hesburn. I love that.
- 32:38Five years younger, 10 years. I love it.
- 32:40I mean, we everybody plays younger, don't they?
- 32:43In musicals. There we go.
- 32:46So there's that I I chose I chose 3, but I'm going to I'm
- 32:50going to explain them because my first and the thing, the one
- 32:54that I imagine him in most is we were Rock You because of his
- 32:57rocky voice and his style. I just think he would play
- 33:00Galileo absolutely amazingly and some incredible songs for him to
- 33:04sing. Obviously, because we were Rock
- 33:06You is queen and we all know that Danny loves Queen and you
- 33:10know all of that. I would love to see him play
- 33:12Fiero from wicked. However, I think that's just my
- 33:16my heart longing to see him sing as long as you're mine.
- 33:19I was just about to say, you just want to see him in that
- 33:21scene, Do you? I don't really feel like I don't
- 33:24think he would be the best Fiero choice, but I just would love,
- 33:28love to see him sing that song. Obviously with me playing
- 33:32alphabet well, dancing through life.
- 33:34That would be so good. See, that's what I saw.
- 33:37Like when I thought about him playing Fiero, I saw him like
- 33:40the cheeky, you know, where he does the Fiero to a lot winky
- 33:44country. You know, I could just imagine
- 33:48him doing that. And then I like had like a
- 33:52proper comedic like brain where I pictured him in I pictured him
- 33:59playing Mr Schneebly in School of Rock Nibbler.
- 34:04No, he'd smash it because he's so funny.
- 34:07But he he is so talented. Mr Sneak.
- 34:09Mr Mr Schneebly is so talented. Like if you think about Jack
- 34:13Black in the film, like Jack Black Tenacious D, it's that
- 34:16funny comedic pop rock kind of style.
- 34:19You know, it's like a bit silly and a bit like stupid in in the
- 34:22film that I think he really would play a good Mr Schneebly.
- 34:27Yeah, he would. He just needs to be a little bit
- 34:30bit, little bit more not attractive, if that makes sense.
- 34:34No, I think it would work attractive as well because he
- 34:37just needs to be a little bit stupid, actually.
- 34:40Not stupid. A little bit, like not on the
- 34:44money. Do you know what I mean?
- 34:45Mrs Schneeb is not an idiot. But no, he's just a layabout,
- 34:48isn't he? Common sense.
- 34:50Yeah. Yeah, he's a bit of a layabout.
- 34:52Yeah, I get that. I think he'd be really good.
- 34:54OK, go on then. Let's go to Harry for you.
- 34:58OK. So I've got 2 for Harry as well.
- 35:00I've got Jack from Newsies. I just think he'd smash that,
- 35:04like, hanging off the rigs. Brilliant.
- 35:07Yeah. Definitely.
- 35:08And Dancy as well. It's very.
- 35:10Yeah, but my big, my big one. I really think that this role is
- 35:16so him. Johnny Castle and Dirty Dancing.
- 35:21Oh, my goodness. Just imagine him with the jeans
- 35:24and the black top. Oh, my Lord, the little Venus.
- 35:27Just a little bit. Yeah, just a little bit too
- 35:30tight. Oh, and the quiff and the quiff.
- 35:34Yeah. And I'll be.
- 35:36I'll be What? You can hear that.
- 35:38I can hear the mood, the music in the background.
- 35:40Doom doom when they're in The Dirty dancing hall and they're
- 35:46like doing the smooth jazz is playing.
- 35:49So here is here's a little fact about me, which I'll probably, I
- 35:52mean, I'm probably not very popular on this podcast for my
- 35:55ratings anyway, but I do not like Dirty Dancing at all.
- 36:01Is that my least favourite like chick flicky movie?
- 36:05However, Harry Judd was playing Johnny Castle.
- 36:09You top ten, You can put me in that corner, do you know what I
- 36:12mean? I will be.
- 36:14I'll be baby in the corner. I'll carry the bloody
- 36:16watermelon. Exactly.
- 36:21I love it. That's a great that was a great
- 36:23cast. Fair play.
- 36:24I think Harry would play a good link in Hairspray because of the
- 36:28dancing Sly. But I also think I think be
- 36:33again, because I picture Harry as the dancer and not the
- 36:35singer. I also saw him as like a West
- 36:38Side Story kind of guy. I could see him doing, you know,
- 36:41the barrel rolls that The Jets do when they're singing the
- 36:44song. I think he would be a really
- 36:46good Tony. And I feel like, yeah, I feel
- 36:50like he could be get a bit emotional.
- 36:52I feel like Harry's not afraid to get a bit emotional.
- 36:55Definitely. And then like my funny role for
- 36:57him would be Brad in Rocky Horror.
- 37:00I love that. But then again, it's like it's
- 37:03because it's he's a bit wooden and he's a bit like, you know,
- 37:05funny and like he's quite posh in the way he speaks and stuff.
- 37:09I think like physicality he would work well, but it's not
- 37:12very dancy part and I don't know I can see to Harry going full
- 37:15drag, you know, do you know what Frank and fur I I would die.
- 37:21Oh my God, imagine any of these boys playing Frankfurt, my Lord
- 37:24above my sexuality would just be out the window.
- 37:28I can see how I go. My brain would be even more
- 37:30confused than when I looked at Megan Fox and Transformers at
- 37:33the age of like 17. I was like, huh, sorry, what's
- 37:37happening? The whole Ruby Rose in orange is
- 37:42the new black. Orange is the New Black.
- 37:45So true. So true.
- 37:50Literally Harry Jordan fishnets. OK, OK.
- 37:57And then Dougie. Go on then give us give us your
- 37:59Dougie, because your Dougie was a good one.
- 38:02Yeah, I think Dougie would play a really good comedic role.
- 38:06So I've gone waitress Ogie. I can hear him singing Ogie
- 38:13songs so, so much. I think he would play the best
- 38:19Ogie ever. I I I love you like a table.
- 38:24Like I think he would just be so good.
- 38:29But also Sweeney from Sweeney Todd.
- 38:31I really see it, the long hair. I see him smashing it out the
- 38:36park like standard, standard look with the eyeliner as well.
- 38:41Or the eyeliner. Yeah, the little white streak in
- 38:45his hair. And like the love me a bit of
- 38:47emo. Give me emo Dougie any day of
- 38:49the week. Oh my God, I would pay.
- 38:51You can be like I'm a vegetarian, but you can put cat
- 38:53in my pie if you want. Cat in my pie.
- 39:00Lately all the neighbours cats have disappeared.
- 39:06What does Mrs Lovett say? What, of course, Enterprise
- 39:13popping pussies into pies. Yes.
- 39:18I've heard that. Then when you said thank you,
- 39:20put cat in my pie. Yeah, literally.
- 39:23Oh, Lord of Dougie. Sweeney Todd or Ogie?
- 39:27Very different, but very, very Dougie.
- 39:31I see him proper funny. I see him.
- 39:34I can't see him as like romantic, like sing to me
- 39:37Dougie. I can see him as master of the
- 39:40house. Thenardier tinity.
- 39:42I can never say his name. Thenardier.
- 39:44I think that's his name. And I could also see him in
- 39:48Peter Pan playing like Captain Hook or maybe even like Mr Smee.
- 39:53Oh my goodness, I just, yes, that would be like my #1 like if
- 39:58I was told now to go to a pirate night like we did at Falmouth
- 40:01University, I'd probably go as Mr Smee now.
- 40:04Oh my God, I, I, my, my nickname at school was Smee.
- 40:08I'm not even joking. He used to call me Smee.
- 40:10My best friend used to call me Smee.
- 40:13I think he would be really good in finding Neverland as I was
- 40:18just the guy that plays Captain Hook because he could also play
- 40:21the the the real life Captain Hook version if.
- 40:25You know, JM Barry writes about a specific person, doesn't he?
- 40:28I think he would be really good as him, but I think he would be
- 40:31a really good Captain Hook. It's the pirate thing.
- 40:34I'm still loving Dougie's pirate phase.
- 40:36I have not let it go. I don't think I ever will.
- 40:40Do you think, do you think Danny would make a good JM Barry?
- 40:45Oh, he would make a good JM Barry.
- 40:49Oh my God, Can you imagine him singing?
- 40:52No, I don't want to. I don't want to.
- 40:54I don't want to. I won't go to bed.
- 40:55Nothing can explain just what you mean to me.
- 40:58I would die. I would die dead.
- 41:01I'd actually die dead. I have died dead.
- 41:05Oh my God. So good.
- 41:07I didn't even think about him. And that.
- 41:09That's such a good musical as well.
- 41:11Oh my Lord. Above anyway.
- 41:15Yeah, so underrated. Actually one of my top five
- 41:17musicals of all time. Easily.
- 41:20Absolutely. Oh, sham.
- 41:22Words cannot explain my love for Finding Neverland.
- 41:24Nobody will ever be able to take that musical out of my life
- 41:27because I sing Sylvia's Lullaby to my daughter nearly every
- 41:31night when she asks for it now because she she, I used to sing
- 41:34it to her every night. About a month ago, she sort of
- 41:37just started saying bed Mama. And I'm like, oh, I Can't Sing
- 41:40to you if you want to go to bed, but I know it will come back
- 41:43every night. And she says mountain, we sing
- 41:45Hushabye, mountain, mountain. And we sing Lullaby, which is
- 41:48Sylvia's lullaby from Finding Neverland.
- 41:50So never I sing this song to my kids that just goes a bit like
- 41:53this. Shut the fuck up and go to bed,
- 41:56please. Oh, that's a great one.
- 42:03Shut the fuck up. I want to go and sleep.
- 42:11It's time for Song of the Week. It is indeed.
- 42:15And this week we are talking all things forbidden, house parties,
- 42:19bottles of Lamborini and telling your mum you're staying at your
- 42:21mate's house when you're actually dying in a field of
- 42:23alcohol poisoning which has happened.
- 42:28OK, let's get to it. Right?
- 42:30What are your ratings and what do you like and dislike?
- 42:33OK, Saturday night is actually, I quite like it.
- 42:40OK, I do quite like it. And I feel like it's almost like
- 42:44an unpopular opinion because every time I bring this song up
- 42:48to people, they're like, I don't know it, I don't know it or
- 42:51they're like, oh God, Saturday night really?
- 42:53Because there's another. Is it?
- 42:55Is there a Friday night? I think there's a Friday night
- 42:58is also brilliant. Yes.
- 43:00But I think there's like a toss up between the two.
- 43:03I love this song. I think it's because there's a
- 43:07storytelling element which we love and you know, you know, if
- 43:10you guys know us at all now, you know that we love a song that
- 43:13tells a story. Big Taylor Swift fans, we like
- 43:16that and that this is, even though it's stupid and it is
- 43:20funny, it does tell a story. And I'm like, I love it.
- 43:23I picture it in my head. They were so young when they
- 43:26wrote this. They were obviously like 1718
- 43:28years old because literally like this is when it came out and
- 43:31they were like really young. I am very disappointed that
- 43:35there's no music video. I feel like this would have
- 43:38been, but they were so young. Yeah.
- 43:41What do they do? I think it's just.
- 43:44I genuinely think it's one of the best songs on the album.
- 43:47Yes, Shannon, I love that. No, not the, but I love that for
- 43:52you because you're always like, Oh yeah, it's a 5.
- 43:54Fuck off, not a 5. So yeah, I'm right.
- 43:57I'm rating Saturday night like 7 1/2, maybe 8.
- 44:00I think I'm. I'm around that mark, that sort
- 44:03of mark. Yeah, definitely.
- 44:04What are you and probably like an 8.5.
- 44:09OK, cool. Wow, Big no, I love it.
- 44:11Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm in the I'm in the top end.
- 44:14I'm in the top half. Love it.
- 44:16I love it. I really, really like it.
- 44:18It's got very like beach Boise, Yeah, surfer babe kind of feel
- 44:24to it. Yeah, It's so fun.
- 44:28Like there is nothing depressing or not that I'm saying
- 44:32depressing is bad. Sometimes depressing songs are
- 44:34really good. My favourite songs, most of them
- 44:37are depressing, but it's just such a feel good, fun like
- 44:43hilarious song where you can picture yourself or like, do you
- 44:48know what it reminds me of? Cheaper by the Dozen.
- 44:51Oh, I love that film. That was literally when I was
- 44:55younger. Yeah.
- 44:56It's that fast-paced energy, isn't it?
- 44:58Where like there's a lot going on?
- 45:00Yes. I just think it's, I just think
- 45:03it's brilliant, genuinely. And I think it's got really
- 45:06smart, very questionable nowadays, but very smart lyrics.
- 45:10Well, that was my next point. Shall we move on to the lyrics?
- 45:13Because I've copied and pasted a few and I've put some
- 45:16interesting bold points next to it so that we could talk about
- 45:20them as we go. The first bit, we've got every
- 45:24girl in stool, the deep end of the pool if you want a ticket to
- 45:27bring your trucks. OK, first of all, we live in the
- 45:31UK. It's fucking freezing.
- 45:33Yeah. And also, who has got a pool
- 45:35that's got a deep? Who's got a swimming pool?
- 45:36Like, how many friends have you got with a swimming pool?
- 45:38Sorry. No, no, I I genuinely have got
- 45:41one friend. Well, just one friends.
- 45:44They live together with a swimming pool.
- 45:45Yeah, they live together. It's one house.
- 45:47Why haven't I been invited? They are like friends of me
- 45:54being an adult now, not being being a teenager, because when I
- 45:56was a teenager, it was paddling pool or like, exactly.
- 45:59Nobody had a pool. We all had to dip your feet in.
- 46:03Yeah. And if you were swish, you had
- 46:05one of those ones that were held up by poles.
- 46:07Yes. That you didn't have to blow up.
- 46:09Like, there was no deep end. It was all level unless you
- 46:13lived on a hill, literally. Who were they friends with at
- 46:1617? Because I feel like we've missed
- 46:17out the next bit when we start to dim the lights.
- 46:22Got to find a girl you like and you better hope she's already
- 46:26drunk. I've put in brackets acceptable
- 46:29by today's standards. Question mark?
- 46:31Exclamation mark. Because probably not right?
- 46:36I read this when I, like, interpreted this as I was
- 46:40younger as like, you're not very attractive.
- 46:42So she'll only find you attractive if you're drunk.
- 46:45Yeah. OK.
- 46:46She's drunk. Could be.
- 46:48Could be that. Could be that.
- 46:49I didn't read it like that. I'm.
- 46:51Yeah. I'm like, you want her to be
- 46:53drunk so that she's more more likely to go home with you.
- 46:56Yeah. Or go to behind the shed because
- 46:59apparently that's where everything's going on, which is
- 47:02the next part I want to talk about.
- 47:05I've put. And if it's going to your head,
- 47:07get behind the garden shed. It's where everybody goes to get
- 47:11laid. First of all, I've put.
- 47:13WTF is this about? Why would you want to go there
- 47:17if it's going to your head? Are you feeling sick?
- 47:20What does this mean, question mark?
- 47:23Because if it's going to your head, I feel like that's like,
- 47:26if you're too drunk and you feel a bit sick, go to the shed.
- 47:30But when you get to the shed, it's not where people are being
- 47:32sick, it's where everybody's fucking.
- 47:36It could be like, it couldn't. It might not be the alcohol.
- 47:39It might be like, oh, she likes me and it's going to my head
- 47:42quickly before she doesn't like me.
- 47:43Do you know what I mean? OK, so it's like, if, if this is
- 47:47all going to your head because you've got a girl that you like,
- 47:50not the alcohol. OK, that makes more sense.
- 47:52That makes more sense. Although, you know, still why
- 47:55don't go to don't go behind the shirt or the line that says or
- 47:59if you take it to a nice bedroom, plenty in the rear.
- 48:02No one here to check if you're underage.
- 48:04I put that in the song. So funny because it's so true.
- 48:10Yeah, true. So true.
- 48:11So the reason I pulled these lyrics out, and I know you did
- 48:14the same with that last one, is because we've got some banging
- 48:17stories to tell and we have put a little Instagram post out as
- 48:24well for your stories, which we're hoping we'll get a few
- 48:27over. I've only posted it today and
- 48:29we're recording today, so it was a bit late in my head to be
- 48:32thinking about it. But if you do want to send in
- 48:34your stories after you've heard this or if you've seen it on our
- 48:36Instagram, please do because we'd still would like to share
- 48:38some of them. I, I've written so many down
- 48:44that we could be here all night. So we need to limit this to no
- 48:47more than like 5 minutes because this is already a 50 minute
- 48:49episode. We do this every time.
- 48:53So some of my favourite memories I'm going to just bullet point
- 48:57them of parties, Saturday nights, that sort of thing.
- 49:02My parents used to go away quite a lot when I was in like
- 49:06secondary school and when I was at college.
- 49:09So when I first started college, my parents and my grandparents
- 49:13all went away at the same time, literally, and just left me a 17
- 49:18year old with, you know, access to to two pretty big houses.
- 49:24So I had a party, not small. Yeah.
- 49:27Well, I had a party in my house, which is evidently the house
- 49:30that I live in now. So I still have these memories
- 49:33because I've moved back into this house as an adult because
- 49:36it's a family house. They were quite lucky.
- 49:39I have very vivid memories of this night.
- 49:41I have vivid memories of being sick in the sink in the kitchen
- 49:45and my boyfriend at the time having a beer and him holding my
- 49:49hair back and then drinking his beer while I was being sick.
- 49:52And I was so pissed off he was drinking his beer that I took it
- 49:55off him and poured it down the sink.
- 49:56And I was like, how can you be drinking beer while I'm being
- 49:58sick? That's so.
- 49:59And that's why you're an ex young man.
- 50:01I know, so funny. Definitely isn't.
- 50:04He broke up with me. But Boo, I can tell people.
- 50:09No, no, I can remember somebody sleeping on the stairs.
- 50:13Literally, they fell asleep on the stairs.
- 50:15His name was Freddie. And the funniest thing is he
- 50:17actually became my postman a few weeks ago.
- 50:20Wow. To that house.
- 50:22He fell asleep on my stairs. Yeah.
- 50:23I remember two people getting it on in a sleeping bag in my
- 50:27living room, where there were also other people sleeping.
- 50:30Wow. And I remember there being me
- 50:33saying to everybody please do not post anything on Facebook
- 50:36because Facebook was massive at the time and I didn't want my
- 50:39mum to see anything. And we did really, really well.
- 50:41Nobody posted anything for ages. And then literally like a year
- 50:45later, it must have come up on someone's like memory or
- 50:48something because they posted it and tagged me and the picture
- 50:55was of my living room. But it was like people in my
- 50:58living room and underneath my mum commented saying is this my
- 51:02living room? I think.
- 51:03Question. Mark she never brought it up.
- 51:08It was never discussed. I think she just accepted that
- 51:11it had happened. There were about 30 people in my
- 51:15house that night. It was chaos, but it was fun.
- 51:20Well, let's put it that way. So yeah, that's probably one of
- 51:23my favourite memories. Do you want to share one of
- 51:24yours? We'll sort of go tit for tat
- 51:26here and there and see if we currently we can get through in
- 51:285 minutes. OK.
- 51:30Well, one that I think of when I lived in Bristol, my friend
- 51:34Sarah used to visit me like once or twice a month and she was, so
- 51:39I was at uni in Bristol obviously with you and she went
- 51:42to uni in Warsaw. But she was like, she was like
- 51:46the very sweet girl when I met her and she went to university
- 51:49and she turned wild. And so my nights out with her a
- 51:52little bit. Yeah.
- 51:54My nights out with her were all a little bit like sporadic.
- 51:57I just like, I just followed her lead because I was like, you're
- 52:00a professional at this point. You're a pro.
- 52:03Yeah, you're a pro. So.
- 52:05But also, as you know, Taylor, I cannot be trusted with anything
- 52:09on a night out. So I gave give her all my stuff
- 52:11to put in her bag, which I still do now as a 32 year old when we
- 52:15don't really drink. But we went to Thecla because we
- 52:20both like that kind of music. And I had to walk from Thecla
- 52:27all the way back to my house. So if you know Bristol, I lived
- 52:29in Southmead. So really, yeah, at like 2:00 in
- 52:35the morning. I remember because she had all
- 52:37my stuff. Because it turns out like I lost
- 52:40her completely in this nightclub and I just, I don't know what
- 52:43brought it upon me, but I was like, that's fine.
- 52:45I'll just walk home and I'll leave my friend in this
- 52:48nightclub. I don't know where she is.
- 52:50That's fine. Walked all the way home.
- 52:52Turns out she met some random men and went to the house for
- 52:56like drinks, but didn't have my address so couldn't have come
- 52:59back to me so stayed over. And it's the, it was the
- 53:04weirdest thing like how did we trust people?
- 53:06How do we just trust they weren't murderers like that?
- 53:08Literally. It's scary, isn't it?
- 53:11Yeah. And I I remember vividly waking
- 53:13up on the sofa because I was waiting for her to come home.
- 53:16I don't know. Yeah.
- 53:17How I thought she would come home.
- 53:19I guess you didn't know where you are.
- 53:21No, I remember waking up the next morning in a pile of, like,
- 53:25noodle vomit with my phone right in the middle of the vomit.
- 53:30And my housemate at the time walked downstairs, propped a cup
- 53:33of tea in front of me and called me a layabout and walked off a
- 53:38so grim noodle vomit noodle like Chinese noodle vomit as well.
- 53:44So like really minging and stinky.
- 53:48And I just I think of that one when I, when I was thinking,
- 53:52thinking about what to say, I was thinking of that one because
- 53:54like, how mad is it that we just trusted these random group of
- 53:57men that we never met? So strange.
- 54:00Well, not we she did. But like I was just OK with the
- 54:03fact that she just went home with these group of men.
- 54:05Very much didn't live in Bristol.
- 54:07This happened to Jack like the your friend of this situation in
- 54:12that he was visiting his friend in Plymouth and then his friend
- 54:16just disappeared and Jack literally had to sleep at the
- 54:19train station on a bench and wait for a train at like 5:00 in
- 54:23the morning. And he got on a train, went to
- 54:25go back to his mum's because his mum live in Torquay, which is,
- 54:28you know, obviously still a while away from Plymouth and and
- 54:32then had to go back the next day because he didn't know where.
- 54:35He didn't have his address or anything.
- 54:36His battery had died on his phone.
- 54:38So he couldn't even like call anybody to say, can you help?
- 54:43Literally he was just stuck in Plymouth on train station, at
- 54:45the train station like all night on his own.
- 54:47Isn't it? Isn't it mad the things that we
- 54:49just do when we're drunk, like the things that we sow and trust
- 54:52and do And like, I would never, I don't think I'm, yeah, no, I'm
- 54:57not that kind of person. I, I genuinely, I'm the mum on a
- 55:00night out and I feel like I always have been obviously at
- 55:03uni and like, when I was a bit younger, I probably was a bit
- 55:05more irresponsible. But I, I do feel like I've, I
- 55:10don't like being that drunks that other people have to look
- 55:13after me. I hate that.
- 55:15I hate being looked after and it makes me feel like awful and
- 55:19yeah, I get really emotional. I.
- 55:22Get. Really.
- 55:22And I know somebody's having to look after me.
- 55:24That's it. You are really looking after me
- 55:26because now I'm crying. Yeah, I know I need to go home
- 55:29and I need to go to bed. Once that's happened, there's no
- 55:31going back from that. Once I'm crying, I need to go
- 55:34home. But saying that, I had a lot of
- 55:37nights out in Bristol that ended hilariously and ended, you know,
- 55:42just, I have so many nights at OMG that were just so funny.
- 55:45I can remember, I can remember you falling asleep at the bus
- 55:49stop because you were so drunk you could not get into the club.
- 55:52They would not let you in. Didn't you say somebody reported
- 55:54you or something before you got that?
- 55:56Yeah. So we went to.
- 55:57So across the. If you know Bristol at all, if
- 55:59you know, I don't know if these nightclubs are even still there.
- 56:00I know OMG is, but I'm not sure about Bent.
- 56:02But there was Bent across the road.
- 56:04It's called OMG Bar now, I think.
- 56:07Oh OK, well we went there first and I was I can I just say I'm a
- 56:12stiffler for pre drinking. I'm very into pre drinking.
- 56:15OK, because I want to save my money.
- 56:18She never ever end up saving my money because I just get really
- 56:21drunk pre drinking and then spend it all anyway.
- 56:25But it on a taxi by yourself because you've had to give her
- 56:28money I. Was like wasted before we got
- 56:33there. And they were like, you can't
- 56:34bring a drink onto the dance floor.
- 56:36And I was screaming at this woman like, I'm going to get
- 56:38spiked if I put my drink down. And she was like, well, don't
- 56:42dance then. And I was like.
- 56:43You. Can't stop my feet from dancing
- 56:45and then. Then I tried to leave because I
- 56:50was like right, I'm going across the.
- 56:51Road with my drink and then she was like, you can't do that.
- 56:54And I was like, well, I paid for it.
- 56:56And I was, I remember, I remember looking.
- 56:58Back on it now I. Was in I was the idiot yeah but
- 57:01Oh yeah you were very dry cannot stop my feet from dancing so you
- 57:05were so but I went over to OMG and they.
- 57:09Were like we can't let you in. And I was like, yeah, I'm so
- 57:13bad. Watch me walk in a straight line
- 57:16because, you know, that's what what you're doing.
- 57:18I can remember going to the bus stop and seeing you lined.
- 57:21You were literally lying down on the bench on the bus stop.
- 57:24Yeah, They were like, you're not coming in.
- 57:26And I was like, this is shit. It's 10:00.
- 57:31I think the problem is we used to, like, drink a whole.
- 57:35Yeah, we used to drink a whole bottle of wine before we went
- 57:38out. Yeah, the wine was my.
- 57:41Rose was my like. Can't drink.
- 57:43Like I can't drink Rose at all. I can have two glasses and I'm
- 57:46probably going to have a headache the next day.
- 57:48Do you know what I mean? I used to drink that before I
- 57:50left the house and if it wasn't finished, I'd take it on the
- 57:52bus. Just leave the bottle on the
- 57:54back seat of the bus. Like yeah, it's not good.
- 57:58A photo of us all on a night. Out isn't.
- 58:00There where we're like all dressed up in our Halloween
- 58:03clothes. And I think I have a bottle of
- 58:05rose in that photo. Was that when I went as Alex
- 58:07Ross from Orange is the New Black?
- 58:10Yes, yes. I love that.
- 58:12That was a great outfit. That was a good outfit.
- 58:14All I had to do is put on an orange jumpsuit because I
- 58:15already looked like her because I already had the glasses and
- 58:17the long black hair bit, winged eyeliner.
- 58:22Another absolute, another absolute banger is obviously our
- 58:26Swift Together nights because they're always so much fun and
- 58:31we still do those as old ladies and mums.
- 58:34And I feel like that's our thing now.
- 58:35Once a year we have to go to Swift together.
- 58:39Yeah, it's like once or twice a. Year isn't it?
- 58:41And we always we. Always try and stay in that.
- 58:43Do you remember the first place we stayed?
- 58:44And it was so good. Oh yeah, the IT was upstairs in
- 58:48like a little loft, wasn't it? Yeah, he had.
- 58:52Like he. Has like a.
- 58:54House with a house on the side of his house that it's.
- 58:58Yeah, Yeah. But like out of season, he just
- 59:01rents it out on Airbnb and Airbnb.
- 59:03So good. It was a cute little like, like
- 59:06attic room. I remember it was really sweet.
- 59:09Loved that. All I remember really is really
- 59:12enjoying it. There was great lighting.
- 59:14It was so warm for February, but we were just starving.
- 59:19Yeah, we were hungry. That was the the.
- 59:21We will never make that mistake again, though, because every
- 59:23time we go, if we're going to stay somewhere, we're like,
- 59:26right, Snacks. I mean snacks are are.
- 59:29Needed for every. Situation, aren't they?
- 59:31Let's face it, you could be going to to your best mate's
- 59:34house for a catch up. You need snacks.
- 59:35You could be going to watch a film or a musical or you need
- 59:38snacks. Like, yeah, always if we are
- 59:41staying away from our house, there is snacks because of that
- 59:45one night where we got back and there was no snacks and it was
- 59:48the worst thing. I've never been SO.
- 59:51For our dinner that night. We shared a bag of Doritos.
- 59:54Yeah. And then we woke up and we were
- 59:56like, what the fuck? You've got drama, you know, It
- 1:00:00was awful. We had one bottle of water
- 1:00:02between US and it was absolutely.
- 1:00:04It was really warm. Do you remember?
- 1:00:06Because it wasn't it like June and it was really warm.
- 1:00:08And the the water from the tap wasn't even very cold because we
- 1:00:12were so thirsty. It was like, yeah, it was like
- 1:00:14lukewarm water. And we could never get into that
- 1:00:18bloody. Bathroom because there.
- 1:00:19Was always other people in there, somebody in there.
- 1:00:21Oh my God, it was so funny. But those are my favourite
- 1:00:24nights because it's 4 hours. It's only our favourite music in
- 1:00:28the whole world. Everybody loves each other.
- 1:00:30It's like being a Busted or McFly gig because everybody's so
- 1:00:33friendly. Everybody just wants to be there
- 1:00:34to have fun and I think that's why it's my favourite.
- 1:00:37What I will say, yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 1:00:41But what I will? Say my worst thing.
- 1:00:42About stuff together and genuinely, genuinely the worst
- 1:00:45thing. And this sounds like a first
- 1:00:47world problem because it does not sound awful but it's like
- 1:00:50deciding when to go to the toilet because every song is a
- 1:00:52fucking banger. So funny and so true.
- 1:00:57I'm already pre thinking about the.
- 1:00:58Next one and like. We literally do.
- 1:01:01And to be fair though, we made this observation last time.
- 1:01:04Do you remember? Like barely anybody was
- 1:01:06drinking. I think it's like the the
- 1:01:09younger generation just don't like seem to drink the next
- 1:01:12generation of like I see generations.
- 1:01:15Yeah. Everybody was like in trainers
- 1:01:17and jeans and like, we're really comfy and we were like in our
- 1:01:19dresses. And I was like, I felt really
- 1:01:21overdressed. Next time I'm going literally in
- 1:01:24baggy jeans and trainers, I'm going in trainers.
- 1:01:26Chant is happening. Thank you all for being here.

- 1:02:34So it does actually help. And hey, who knows, maybe
- 1:02:38Spotify will pay us If you do, you know, we might, we might get
- 1:02:41commissioned. Oh my God, how nice would it be?
- 1:02:45Just a just a little bit of dollar for all the times blood,
- 1:02:48sweat and tears. I say blood, sweat and tears.
- 1:02:50I just sit here with a microphone and touch it for an
- 1:02:52hour. So it's really not that much
- 1:02:53hard work. But still just give me enough
- 1:02:55money for some snacks. Do you know what I mean?
- 1:02:58Just snacks while I'm here. That would be great.
- 1:03:01Oh dear. We will be in your ears again
- 1:03:03next week, obviously. And it's busted up next.
- 1:03:05And their next song is Psycho Girl, which we are so buzzing
- 1:03:09about. Shannon's one of Shannon's
- 1:03:11favourite and we have some very, very special guest book for the
- 1:03:15next couple of months at 3 so far that we've booked in one for
- 1:03:19end of January, 1 for February and one for March.
- 1:03:21And they are fabulous. I mean, I'm so excited.
- 1:03:25You will probably recognise one most definitely of the names if
- 1:03:30you're a hardcore McFly Stan and the others are also equally
- 1:03:35awesome. So we are really looking forward
- 1:03:37to sharing those with you. But for now, keep your playlist
- 1:03:40loud and happiness in your hearts.
