- 0:53On Cool. Stuff.
- 0:54And one of the most interesting things I think about autism is
- 0:57that it does have Co occurring or Co morbid condition which is
- 1:01basically conditions that come alongside autism.
- 1:04So some of these you know like OCD and stuff like that, you
- 1:08know they they they are Co occurring.
- 1:11With autism. So when I have my autism
- 1:13diagnosis, there was also a bunch of other things that came
- 1:15with it. I had my dyslexia.
- 1:16Diagnosis first, then autism, ADHD and OCD at the.
- 1:18Same time. And then I've got sensory
- 1:21processing disorder as well, which came a little time after
- 1:23that, but it's. Still kind.
- 1:24Of. Part and.
- 1:24Parcel with autism, right? So I wanted to list out five of
- 1:28the most common ones, because I think.
- 1:29It's very valuable to know that, hey, you know the condition that
- 1:32you may be undergoing right now. Is just part of the fact that
- 1:36it's autism, You know, like because a lot of people think,
- 1:39well, I've got dyslexia, but I've also autism is.
- 1:42There a link, blah blah blah. And yeah, there is a link.
- 1:44And yes, you know there will be a reason for that.
- 1:47And so I have. Basically, listen about five of
- 1:50the most common ones I'm going. To go through right now.
- 1:52So the first one is. ADHD, right?
- 1:54Notably the most common and popular known ADHD.
- 1:58Is probably. The number one issue that is.
- 1:59Diagnosed alongside autism. I would say so, right?
- 2:03Most of my friends I know who are on the autism spectrum.
- 2:05They also have ADHD. Diagnosis.
- 2:08It's only a rare handful of them.
- 2:09That. Don't have the ADHD diagnosis as
- 2:11well, which is? Really interesting and I'm not
- 2:13sure why it kind of comes. Really.
- 2:15Naturally. Occurring with autism.
- 2:16Most of. The time, but it's just.
- 2:18Absolutely fascinating, and it fascinates.
- 2:20The heck out of me. So yeah, that was #1.
- 2:22OK, so #2 is IBS. Now.
- 2:25IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome versus Gastrointestinal
- 2:28Issue or. Typically a GI issue.
- 2:31Now almost everybody on the. Spectrum had some sort of GI
- 2:34issue like like IBS or any. Other gut related problems and
- 2:38it's an unusual phenomenon, but it's very commonly associated
- 2:41with autism. I don't know why this is a
- 2:43phenomenon about it. It's so bizarre, right?
- 2:46But it is a matter of fact and. IBS is.
- 2:48Probably the most common one from the GI disorders, and there
- 2:51are a bunch of other ones you can get, but you know,
- 2:53obviously. Typically having IPS is what's.
- 2:55Commonly Co occurring. With autism.
- 2:58OK, so #3 is dyslexia. Now autism.
- 3:02Is a learning difficulty right? Because it's a communication
- 3:04based. Disorder.
- 3:05So having a learning difficulty, it usually comes with other
- 3:09learning difficulties, and the most common one is dyslexia.
- 3:13Dyslexia. Actually, there's a lot of
- 3:16different ones people kind of get confused between.
- 3:17Dyslexia dyscalculus. And all.
- 3:20That kind of stuff and I'll be doing.
- 3:21A video on the difference between those, but in terms of
- 3:23dyslexia, it's more to the reading and writing Again, being
- 3:26a learning disability, this comes.
- 3:28Like so. Commonly Co occurring and.
- 3:31In existing. With autism and I would say
- 3:33pretty. Much everybody on the autism
- 3:34spectrum has dyslexia I. You know the.
- 3:38People I know I can't speak. For everybody in the.
- 3:40World but. I would say that some form of
- 3:42dyslexia does. Occur.
- 3:43Within people on the. Autism spectrum.
- 3:45Now #4 is sensory. Processing disorder.
- 3:48Now shorten to SPD is basically pretty much.
- 3:52Every autistic. Person probably has it.
- 3:56It can't be diagnosed without being.
- 3:58On the autism spectrum. So how can I explain?
- 4:01Sensory pressing disorder cannot be.
- 4:03Independently diagnosed, but autism can be independently
- 4:06diagnosed of. Sensory process and disorder,
- 4:09but usually when you get diagnosed autism one of the
- 4:11causing factors of the diagnosis.
- 4:13Is SPD so SPD? It means that basically you have
- 4:17issues with sensory issues like touch and taste and sound and
- 4:20smell and sight and light and all this kind of stuff.
- 4:23And it's fascinating, but it impacts the lives of.
- 4:25People on the. Autism spectrum, quite
- 4:27chronically in certain events and stuff.
- 4:29Like that. I mean.
- 4:30Me to myself, I mean it's. Caused so much havoc for me
- 4:33having food when I was younger and now more than ever it causes
- 4:36me issues. Well, like I'm trying to go to
- 4:38the store, but the store smells a certain way and I can't go in
- 4:40there or I hear. Words, and those words
- 4:42physically hurt. And so I think that's something,
- 4:45you know, a lot of people don't talk.
- 4:46About and I find it just super, super fascinating.
- 4:49OK. So #5 on my list here now is
- 4:51fibromyalgia. Now this condition is kind of
- 4:55like a, it's kind of like an arthritis type of deal.
- 4:59It's it's relatively new. There's a body of research
- 5:04that's talking about it. It's so it's completely kind of
- 5:06like something that is is more and more kind of research every
- 5:10day. And there's new stuff coming up
- 5:12on it all the time. But in terms of fibromyalgia?
- 5:16It is mostly common in females more than it is males, right?
- 5:20But it's it's it's hugely Co diagnosed with autism because of
- 5:24the fact that it has a it just has a relationship with females.
- 5:29On the autism spectrum. Usually will have.
- 5:31A diagnosis of fibromyalgia. That comes.
- 5:34Co occurring. With autism.
- 5:35Absolutely fascinating. It fascinates the heck out of me
- 5:37and I have no idea why, but they just.
- 5:39Do. It's just something that is a
- 5:40matter of fact. Now if you have anything to add
- 5:42to this list, if you want to add to this list.
- 5:44And you think, hey these are some Co occurring conditions pop
- 5:47in a comment down below. I'd love to read and share that
- 5:49with you. And I read every single comment,
- 5:50so that's kind. Of dope.
- 5:51Also guys if you. Want to share this because you
- 5:54found value in it and somebody else could find.
