- 0:48SPEAKER_06: Welcome everyone to episode 281 of Vegas Revealed.
- 0:52SPEAKER_06: Dana Roselli here, along with Sean McAllister.
- 0:55SPEAKER_06: Welcome.
- 0:56SPEAKER_06: Hey, we want to kick off the show today talking about uh a new restaurant coming to the top of the Rio.
- 1:03SPEAKER_06: So Voodoo Steak is going away.
- 1:05SPEAKER_06: We used to love it there.
- 1:06Sean McAllister: I mean, it's one of those restaurants that uh it sits on top of the Rio.
- 1:12Sean McAllister: 180-degree views of the Las Vegas Valley is really a prime location up there on the top of the Rio Tower.
- 1:21Sean McAllister: Well, Voodoo Steak is turning into a new restaurant called High Stakes Vegas.
- 1:27Sean McAllister: I love the play on words with that.
- 1:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's good, good.
- 1:30Sean McAllister: Uh, and it's going to be helmed by uh celebrated award-winning chef James Trees, who we've talked about here on the Vegas Revealed podcast before.
- 1:39Sean McAllister: He's uh behind Esther's Kitchen in downtown Las Vegas.
- 1:42Sean McAllister: Barbo M, he recently opened uh down there in the arts district as well.
- 1:48Sean McAllister: And now he's uh taking his talents to the sky up there in that voodoo steak space.
- 1:54SPEAKER_06: And you and I actually ate there just last year.
- 1:57SPEAKER_06: And one of the things that we did note is the view is amazing, the staff was wonderful, um, and the food was really good, but it needed an update.
- 2:09Sean McAllister: A little refresh, a little life breathed into it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_06: So I was reading some of the notes on this, you know, high stakes Vegas um restaurant that's coming by James, and it says it will revive the classic American steakhouse while modernizing it for the 21st century.
- 2:25SPEAKER_06: And I thought, okay, that's probably just what that needs, right?
- 2:28SPEAKER_06: It's like perfect.
- 2:30Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 2:30Sean McAllister: And James always the thing I love about his restaurants is you are getting like a top-of-the-line food and service, but it's not pretentious at all.
- 2:42Sean McAllister: It's like anybody could go in there and just enjoy these meals that are just fantastic.
- 2:51Sean McAllister: He travels the world to get inspiration for the dishes that he puts out at his Las Vegas restaurants.
- 2:57Sean McAllister: And uh Chef Tree's is fantastic.
- 2:59Sean McAllister: I'm excited to see what he does at High Stakes Vegas.
- 3:03SPEAKER_06: And this will be his first uh hotel restaurant, right?
- 3:07SPEAKER_06: If I'm correct.
- 3:08Sean McAllister: I believe so, yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_06: So it's a big deal for him.
- 3:11SPEAKER_06: And yeah, it's a great spot with a view of.
- 3:14SPEAKER_06: I mean, I mean, the thing is, is like we live here and we don't even get that.
- 3:19SPEAKER_06: I mean, even when we interviewed the the folks over at the Friends experience, we were like, why Vegas?
- 3:23SPEAKER_06: They're like, well, because it's Vegas.
- 3:25SPEAKER_06: I mean, it we it Vegas is it an iconic city, and James Trees will have a steakhouse with a view like no other, you know, uh of an iconic city.
- 3:36SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's a big deal for him.
- 3:38Sean McAllister: It is, it's a huge deal.
- 3:39Sean McAllister: So uh High Stakes Vegas, uh set to open this fall.
- 3:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so we don't have to wait long because it's a refresh.
- 3:46Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:47Sean McAllister: So I'm excited about that.
- 3:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, he has uh partnerships with uh exclusive beef ranches uh to add to the menu there.
- 3:57Sean McAllister: Uh there's going to be game meats on the menu as well.
- 4:01Sean McAllister: Uh market-driven fish and vegetables, along with uh what they're calling crisp cocktails.
- 4:07SPEAKER_06: Crisp classic cocktails.
- 4:09SPEAKER_06: I like that.
- 4:10Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 4:10SPEAKER_06: Because sometimes today's cocktails like all the fancy.
- 4:13SPEAKER_06: I'm just I don't, it's like I can't get into it.
- 4:15Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 4:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 4:16SPEAKER_06: Give me uh give me a standard, give me a classic.
- 4:19Sean McAllister: Give me a martini.
- 4:20Sean McAllister: Right.
- 4:20Sean McAllister: Give me a Manhattan, an old-fashioned.
- 4:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, all that.
- 4:25SPEAKER_06: High Stakes Vegas, like you said, opens fall of 2025.
- 4:28SPEAKER_06: So we'll keep you posted on that.
- 4:30SPEAKER_06: Hey, an interview that we did actually at the top of the strat recently at 108 observation uh tower over there.
- 4:37SPEAKER_06: We found out a little James Trees nugget there, too.
- 4:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, 108 Eats, which is up on that observation level.
- 4:43Sean McAllister: Uh, they have paninis, cookies, uh, sandwiches.
- 4:47Sean McAllister: Uh, and James Trees is behind the menu items that you find up there at 108 Eats as well.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: So I thought that was really cool.
- 4:56Sean McAllister: So he's literally taking his culinary skills sky high, both at Strat and at Rio.
- 5:04Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:05SPEAKER_06: I mean, he's all over the place.
- 5:07SPEAKER_06: I love that he's making his mark here in Vegas.
- 5:09SPEAKER_06: Started out at the Mirage, you know, when he was retrained, yeah.
- 5:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:13SPEAKER_06: So the Mirage is no longer, well, it's turning into the hard rock.
- 5:17SPEAKER_06: Um, so anyway, good for him.
- 5:19SPEAKER_06: Look forward to uh checking out again his new restaurant at the top of the Rio.
- 5:24SPEAKER_06: And then if you want a uh a cookie by James Trees, you can go to the top of the strat.
- 5:29Sean McAllister: And by the way, you mentioned uh the Mirage and the transition into hard rock.
- 5:33Sean McAllister: That guitar tower that they're building, it's really rising up quickly.
- 5:38SPEAKER_06: Where are we to like the foundation?
- 5:40Sean McAllister: I mean, it's more than a foundation now, it's like building up into the sky, it's over the construction walls, and yeah, they're they're making good progress on that.
- 5:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we drove by it about what was like a month ago and noticed.
- 5:51SPEAKER_06: I didn't know if you drove by it more recently, but it's a section that we don't because we take back roads, so we never really drive by because we go around.
- 5:59SPEAKER_06: Um, so I didn't know if you saw like even more progress or pictures or whatever.
- 6:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, I just saw a picture and I was like, holy mackerel.
- 6:05SPEAKER_06: I know okay, it happens quick.
- 6:06SPEAKER_06: Everything happens quick here, right?
- 6:08Sean McAllister: It does.
- 6:09SPEAKER_06: Really.
- 6:10SPEAKER_06: Um, okay, let's talk about Joey, Matthew, and Andrew Lawrence.
- 6:14SPEAKER_06: Uh, three brothers, and all of them, 90s icons from shows.
- 6:19SPEAKER_06: I mean, listen, Blossom was like my favorite show ever growing up.
- 6:23SPEAKER_06: I loved it.
- 6:24SPEAKER_06: Loved Joey Lawrence in Blossom.
- 6:26SPEAKER_06: Uh Boy Meets World, I really didn't watch, did you?
- 6:29Sean McAllister: No, that was just after my growing up.
- 6:33Sean McAllister: Like I knew of it, but I never got into it.
- 6:36SPEAKER_06: Oh, because this was when sitcoms were huge.
- 6:38SPEAKER_06: And then they all did a show together, Brotherly Love.
- 6:40SPEAKER_06: So, I mean, sitcoms were, and we were talking about this with the brothers.
- 6:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, off camera, we had a whole conversation about it.
- 6:47SPEAKER_06: I mean, what happened to a good sitcom?
- 6:50Sean McAllister: I know, they don't do them anymore.
- 6:52SPEAKER_06: Why?
- 6:53Sean McAllister: And they were saying they're like, you know, ever since COVID hit, like the movie, the studios and the the streaming uh companies, they just kind of got away from uh doing uh sitcoms with a live studio audience.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: And they were saying that there is a magic that happens when you're performing in front of an audience, and when rewrites are happening live on set and the audience sees like three, four, five uh different versions of the same scene with different uh jokes and different lines written in, and they're like, you can tell based on the audience's reaction when you have like TV goal.
- 7:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, when you've hit it, yeah.
- 7:38SPEAKER_06: It's so true.
- 7:38SPEAKER_06: I've seen a bunch.
- 7:39SPEAKER_06: Have you ever gone to LA and watched?
- 7:41SPEAKER_06: I watched Will and Grace live.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: I no, I've uh been to like tour the sound stages, but I've never been in a live studio audience.
- 7:52SPEAKER_06: It is crazy because they use a lot of like cue cards where they just write on that, and so like that's the thing.
- 7:57SPEAKER_06: If they want to redo something, they kind of change it or they add lib, right?
- 8:01SPEAKER_06: Or they redo it, and and the audience, you know, in and I forgot about that.
- 8:05SPEAKER_06: Like when he was so we were talking to them about a show they're bringing to the strat, and that's gonna have a live studio audience, and they were saying, like, we missed that, and I'm like, oh my gosh, I forgot that sitcoms had live studio audiences, even though I went to one and loved it.
- 8:18SPEAKER_06: I saw um, you know, I've seen different sit-down shows, Jay Leno show, sure, things like that.
- 8:23SPEAKER_06: But Will and Grace was the one that I watched live.
- 8:27SPEAKER_06: It was like the second show they ever filmed, and it really is cool to see what's going on, and you'll see other people come through and support.
- 8:34SPEAKER_06: Like, I remember like um Fred Savage, is that his name from Wonder Years?
- 8:39Sean McAllister: Fred Fred Savage.
- 8:40SPEAKER_06: Fred Savage, yeah.
- 8:41SPEAKER_06: He was like down there, like watching on the floor.
- 8:44SPEAKER_06: Like other actors would just pop by each other's sitcoms and like stand and watch and say hi to everyone in the break.
- 8:51SPEAKER_06: It was it's a great experience.
- 8:53SPEAKER_06: So anyway, I get what they mean that you feed off that because we definitely did, and they had to redo scenes, and the ones where the audience reacted to you know the most, it that that was the ones they kept.
- 9:07Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:07Sean McAllister: And so uh the Brotherly Love Pod is uh the podcast that these brothers have created, and it's become really popular.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: They have a lot of fans, and it's a a fun it's a great podcast.
- 9:22Sean McAllister: It is, it's great to listen to.
- 9:24Sean McAllister: There the chemistry between them is fun to listen to.
- 9:29Sean McAllister: I've never had a brother, I have an older sister, so like the brotherly dynamic is something I've never experienced, but it's fun to see it play out on their podcast.
- 9:41Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:41Sean McAllister: Uh they do the show in a studio, they've done a few uh episodes at like conventions with some you know live uh audience there too, but nothing like what they're bringing to the strat theater with a full live audience, a full production, uh live music, they'll have their podcast conversations, but they'll also bring in special guests.
- 10:06SPEAKER_06: I know, and they're gonna do some comedy and like you said, when a full band.
- 10:10SPEAKER_06: So there's probably gonna be a lot of off-the-cuff musical moments, I'm sure.
- 10:14Sean McAllister: Without a doubt.
- 10:15SPEAKER_06: And we can announce that um Debbie Gibson's gonna be one of the surprise uh special guests, I should say, not a surprise if I'm saying it, uh, for one of the shows one night.
- 10:24SPEAKER_06: And Frank Marino, um, you know, iconic as well.
- 10:28SPEAKER_06: He's gonna be one of the special guests, and then they have a bunch of other people um that they're reaching out to, and they said they all have so many friends in town that do things that they're assuming some of them will just pop in or fly in from LA or whatever.
- 10:42SPEAKER_06: So um it's gonna be good.
- 10:44SPEAKER_06: And like you said, the 15th and 16th, you can buy tickets now.
- 10:48SPEAKER_06: Uh Sean and I will be at one of the shows.
- 10:50SPEAKER_06: I don't know if we're really special guests, but we'll be in the audience.
- 10:53Sean McAllister: We'll be audience members.
- 10:54Sean McAllister: We'll come in, we we will cheer, we will bring our energy.
- 10:58Sean McAllister: If uh a mic is passed in front of our faces, we'll ask a question.
- 11:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah, all that.
- 11:04SPEAKER_06: Hey, the strat theater is really nice, too.
- 11:06Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 11:07SPEAKER_06: You've never been.
- 11:08SPEAKER_06: But anyway, you sat down, well, actually stood up and interviewed the brothers.
- 11:12Sean McAllister: Yeah, we were at uh 108 Eats up on that uh observation level of the strat.
- 11:17Sean McAllister: Had a great conversation with Joey, Matt, and Andy.
- 11:21Sean McAllister: Uh take a listen.
- 11:22Sean McAllister: You're in for some laughs.
- 11:24Sean McAllister: Hey, guess what?
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Watch out.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: The Broly Love Pod is going live on tour, everybody, to Los Vegas! This is kind of something new for you guys, right?
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: It's like the pod kind of like juiced up, you know?
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: So we're excited to make that stuff.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: Vegas style, and in some sense, it's a return to the stage.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: We're breaking out some old routines that haven't been haven't been seen in over 30 years from these guys.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: For example, well, we're gonna try to we're trying to coax Joe into a little tap routine to to bring out his old person tap since Johnny Carson in 1981, so you know, we'll see.
- 11:58Sean McAllister: So, in addition to the tap routine, what else are your fans gonna see when when they sit down in the theater and come join you guys?
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: You'll have some song and dance, you'll have the normal podcast conversation and then a little QA, a little interaction with the audience, possible special guests each night.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Guests, yes.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Can you drop any names?
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, we're gonna have some special guests.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: Uh I think Debbie Gibbs is gonna come by.
- 12:22Sean McAllister: A Vegas resident, love it.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Which will be fun, which will be fun.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, uh who else?
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Sting?
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: Uh Bono's coming by.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Bono's like, Frank Marino.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: Yep, Frank Marino.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: And and then we never know.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Because as this thing is, it's live and and people want to come by.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: And we've actually talked to a lot of our friends, they're like, yeah, if we're in town, we'll come by.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: So it's kind of open mic night, so we'll see what happens.
- 12:45Sean McAllister: It sounds very reminiscent of like the classic Vegas variety show, like where they had them on the casino floor and you had people coming in and you never knew what was gonna happen.
- 12:54Sean McAllister: Is that kind of the vibe?
- 12:56Sean McAllister: It is kind of the vibe.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: We're sort of this is a uh sort of a testing ground for that, and that's sort of what we're going after.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're gonna you know, we may or not go out into the audience and talk to them a little bit, so we will have that kind of old school throwback sort of Vegas variety show.
- 13:10Sean McAllister: And and so for people who uh may not be familiar with uh the Brotherly Love Pod, what I know it is impossible because you guys because you guys are so popular.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: You are! But in a nutshell, like what do what can people expect on a regular basis when they uh watch or listen?
- 13:30Sean McAllister: Guys, what do you think?
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Well, a lot of sibling uh rivalry, a little uh I think it's the relationship between uh us individually and and then together that really, you know, people seem to respond to this a glimpse of the relationship right here pretty much each other's tenses or just interrupt interrupt each other's.
- 13:49SPEAKER_03: You say interrupt, I say finisher.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: To put it distinctly, it's really a a dinner table conversation pod, right?
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: You don't really know what you're gonna get.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: We don't really have themes or conversations other than the ones that we just uh organically start.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Why Vegas to do these first set of stages?
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: Same question.
- 14:08unknown: No.
- 14:08SPEAKER_03: Um no, Vegas, because it's like it's like bigger, better if you're if you're gonna do something.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: What a way to kick off, you know, trying our hands at doing it live in Vegas.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: It's just it's it's a great stage to do it on.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: I think so many great entertainers have come through here.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: You know, I think it's such a cool honor to have an opportunity just be on a Vegas and on stage to put something up like this.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: Now pods are being watched and people are really talking about it like, well, it is.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: It's really becoming the new TV for a lot of young people, especially.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: So I feel like it sort of is a natural progression to that sort of medium to put on a live pod because people are watching them.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: So, like, you know, it would be like watching a live episode of your favorite TV show.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: You know, that would be so cool.
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: Unlike when when we used to do it, going and watch a live sitcom episode.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: Because they were basically live for a studio audience, so they were.
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: And remember, we're at the strap.
- 14:56SPEAKER_03: Highest point on the strip, right?
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Isn't that what you're doing?
- 14:59SPEAKER_03: Of course it is.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: If you look out there, there's nothing higher.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: Nothing higher.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: You have to get your tickets, win that right now, everybody.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: Get them, they're on sale.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: Nothing's off when it's in baggage.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: Bring me some live music.
- 15:17Sean McAllister: Pop culture nostalgia, the brotherly love podcast.
- 15:21Sean McAllister: We just touched on so many great things, and I feel like we could have kept talking for hours more.
- 15:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_06: I was talking with Joey about the new Superman and how it doesn't deliver.
- 15:32SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 15:33SPEAKER_06: And we had a great conversation about how because we're, you know, movies just aren't the same as they used to be, even, you know, and I was like, oh, it and anyway, we had a whole conversation about it, but because uh, you know, I'm a huge uh original Superman fan, and I know you've been watching them too.
- 15:49Sean McAllister: I watched the first two, yeah.
- 15:50Sean McAllister: Uh, because I've I got really excited uh at the trailer for this new Superman movie, and I was like, oh my gosh, it feels like it is going to deliver uh the same kind of feel that you get from the original Superman movies, and uh from what we're hearing from people who've seen it, it it doesn't.
- 16:14SPEAKER_04: It doesn't.
- 16:15Sean McAllister: So I don't know if I'm as excited to go out and see it anymore.
- 16:19Sean McAllister: I think at some point maybe I will.
- 16:22Sean McAllister: But um I don't think you'll I don't know, it kind of deflated my excitement a little.
- 16:28SPEAKER_06: I think you'll wait till it's and then even then you might not press play.
- 16:32Sean McAllister: And then even then I'll take frequent frequent snack breaks to go to the kitchen, maybe walk out in the backyard.
- 16:38Sean McAllister: I know, come check in on the movie.
- 16:40SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 16:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because Joey was saying there's some moments that just don't happen like the originals, which is okay, but like I don't know, you need to anyway, it's whatever.
- 16:50SPEAKER_06: See Superman if you want to.
- 16:52SPEAKER_06: Hey, if you loved Superman, the new one in the movie theater, um, like text us.
- 16:56SPEAKER_06: We have a link at the top of our show notes.
- 16:58SPEAKER_06: You can always write us comments and you loved it.
- 17:00SPEAKER_06: I'm just curious, did you really?
- 17:02SPEAKER_06: Or or not?
- 17:04SPEAKER_06: Because I haven't heard one good thing.
- 17:06Sean McAllister: Or I'm interested to know if uh any of you have seen a movie recently that really brings back like nostalgic uh feelings and and a movie that really captures the essence of an original.
- 17:21Sean McAllister: Obviously, we're talking remakes here, but um I don't know.
- 17:25Sean McAllister: There's just something different about the way that especially like superhero movies are being done now versus.
- 17:33SPEAKER_06: But listen, maybe the kid maybe the kids like it.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: Maybe the kids do.
- 17:38Sean McAllister: I'm uh I always say I am an analog person at heart.
- 17:44Sean McAllister: Yeah, but the the digital world that we're in now is I mean, obviously we you have to do what we have to do.
- 17:50Sean McAllister: Yeah, you have to adapt and evolve, but I I love those analog days.
- 17:56Sean McAllister: I know it was good stuff, right?
- 17:57SPEAKER_06: Speaking of um digital or high tech and all that kind of thing.
- 18:01SPEAKER_06: I mean, uh the countdown is on now for the Wizard of Oz at Sphere.
- 18:05SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 18:05SPEAKER_06: Like all the videos that we posted on TikTok and Instagram are all kind of like coming back to life suddenly because you can tell there's a big interest of people searching for more information and saying that they want to go.
- 18:17SPEAKER_06: You know, people comment it's too expensive.
- 18:19SPEAKER_06: I actually haven't um looked at the price range of tickets, but um I it you and I were saying it's hard because if you've never been to Sphere, which you know, odds are you probably haven't yet.
- 18:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 18:34SPEAKER_06: Um it's hard to explain what you're getting with that ticket.
- 18:40SPEAKER_06: Like people don't even know that your seats might shake and wind will blow in your face and you know, and the tornado like and smells will come.
- 18:48SPEAKER_06: I mean, I don't know if people realize all that.
- 18:50Sean McAllister: And there's 4D effects that are going to happen inside of Sphere.
- 18:55Sean McAllister: And I'll go back to what uh I mentioned it when we talked about uh going to the Backstreet Boys uh show over at Sphere recently.
- 19:03Sean McAllister: The couple behind us I overheard them talking and they said this is the best thing I have ever done in my life.
- 19:13Sean McAllister: So it is is it a pricey ticket?
- 19:17Sean McAllister: Sure.
- 19:18Sean McAllister: But you know what?
- 19:19Sean McAllister: It's an experience that you are not going to get anywhere else in the world.
- 19:25Sean McAllister: And the experience is worth it.
- 19:27SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 19:28SPEAKER_06: Well, because that's and people are saying, like, also in the comments, like, oh, it's just a movie, big, you know, like, but it's like it's not they're redoing a 1939 classic, they're expanding the film, they're reimagining, they're using AI, the sound, all of it.
- 19:42SPEAKER_06: And then, you know, sphere experience in general, you know, the lobby, they have things that you can go and check out.
- 19:49SPEAKER_06: I have a feeling we don't know yet, but I think we'll find out more on August 28th when you and I are at the opening.
- 19:54SPEAKER_06: Um, there might be some other things that they throw in there.
- 19:57SPEAKER_06: Uh, we saw that they were hiring what were they hiring?
- 20:01Sean McAllister: There was a a casting call that we saw online for two uh two male actors.
- 20:07Sean McAllister: So I don't know what that's maybe maybe a tin man and and maybe uh it did say in the notes that you have to be uh good at improv.
- 20:16Sean McAllister: Okay, and you need to have a really strong, like loud voice that projects.
- 20:22SPEAKER_06: Oh, okay.
- 20:23Sean McAllister: So I don't know.
- 20:24SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 20:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so maybe not.
- 20:25SPEAKER_06: Maybe it's just something to do with something else, but good stuff.
- 20:28SPEAKER_06: You know, I I have a feeling there'll be more yeah, it's gonna be really cool.
- 20:32SPEAKER_06: So stay tuned for that, and then maybe um when we tell you what to expect and expand a little bit more on the details, then maybe you know, you can decide if you should buy a ticket.
- 20:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, but we're excited about it, and I will tell you that when we went and saw first footage at the Google Next uh uh convention, they had a big presentation inside of Sphere where they showed first footage of uh some of the scenes from this uh new reimagined Wizard of Oz, and we had goosebumps and the entire audience gasped when those images came up on the screen.
- 21:12Sean McAllister: Right.
- 21:12Sean McAllister: So it's something that makes you it feels like you are in the story, not just watching the story on a screen.
- 21:23SPEAKER_06: Totally.
- 21:23SPEAKER_06: And even sphere in general, what you see on eclipses online, even from the phones, it is cool, like it looks great, but like when you're sitting there, it just doesn't even compare.
- 21:38SPEAKER_06: So I don't know.
- 21:39Sean McAllister: No, no, it doesn't because you look up and around everywhere.
- 21:42Sean McAllister: I mean, everywhere you look, you are a part of the imagery that's happening around you.
- 21:49Sean McAllister: So anyway, clearly we're big sphere fans.
- 21:51Sean McAllister: Yeah, and we're excited about Wizard of Oz, we're excited about all the concerts that come there.
- 21:56SPEAKER_06: So more to come.
- 21:57SPEAKER_06: Hey, something else we're excited about coming.
- 22:00SPEAKER_06: Up in tips, so let's do it.
- 22:04SPEAKER_06: And when I say excited about it, I mean excited about it for everyone else because I will never enter the universal horror unleashed.
- 22:13SPEAKER_06: Because I'm a scaredy cat.
- 22:15Sean McAllister: Are you gonna send me over to check that out?
- 22:17Sean McAllister: Is that my assignment?
- 22:18SPEAKER_06: Oh my gosh.
- 22:19SPEAKER_06: Uh uh yeah.
- 22:19SPEAKER_06: Anyway, this is coming and it's coming soon this fall.
- 22:22Sean McAllister: Uh yeah.
- 22:23Sean McAllister: Uh August, actually.
- 22:24SPEAKER_06: Well, August, sorry.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: August, yeah.
- 22:26Sean McAllister: So even before fall, they're gonna be revved up, ready for the Halloween season once it once it swings around.
- 22:32Sean McAllister: But Universal Horror Unleashed, this is an all-year uh horror experience, and it's based off of uh some of the best known horror movie franchises in the Universal uh filmverse.
- 22:49Sean McAllister: There's going to be four haunted houses, each has their their own storyline going through it.
- 22:54Sean McAllister: There's Universal Monsters, uh there's another one probably handle that one.
- 22:59Sean McAllister: That's the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 23:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I can't handle that one.
- 23:03Sean McAllister: Uh there's Scarecrow the Reaping, and then Bloom Houses, the Exorcist Believer.
- 23:10Sean McAllister: Nope.
- 23:11Sean McAllister: So I mean, you're gonna go through these and talk about being put in the middle of a story with stuff happening all around you.
- 23:21Sean McAllister: You're going to be put in the middle of a horror movie.
- 23:23Sean McAllister: You're gonna be dropped into the middle of a horror movie set as you go through these haunted houses.
- 23:29SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:30Sean McAllister: And there's a lot of people who uh really are horror movie fanatics.
- 23:36SPEAKER_06: Fanatics.
- 23:37SPEAKER_06: People love this stuff, so that's I'm I'm excited for all those people because I know they're gonna make a trip here.
- 23:44Sean McAllister: Make a trip here, they'll have uh their wardrobe chosen.
- 23:49Sean McAllister: You know, they'll probably dress in theme to go to these as well.
- 23:53Sean McAllister: Um, so it's going it'll be a popular attraction, no doubt.
- 23:57SPEAKER_06: Oh, and then they yeah, because they have a lot going, like you said, like with it, like surrounding the haunted houses are four fully themed immersive entertainment areas, each with its own unique live horror experience, plus decadent food and drink offerings in select areas as well.
- 24:12SPEAKER_06: So they said this is how they ended it.
- 24:14SPEAKER_06: Your deepest fears are closer than you think.
- 24:17Sean McAllister: Great.
- 24:17SPEAKER_06: Great.
- 24:20Sean McAllister: Because I'm I'm with you.
- 24:22Sean McAllister: I'm not a huge like haunted house fan.
- 24:28Sean McAllister: Right.
- 24:28Sean McAllister: There's a girl, Jessica, that I went to school with in like elementary school, and she had a Halloween party, and they had a barn out back, and they like took us on a hay ride, and we walked through the barn, and it was a like her family put on a haunted house, and I was petrified.
- 24:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: I don't know about that.
- 24:49Sean McAllister: I I like ditched out on a most of it.
- 24:52Sean McAllister: I went back inside and like ate the worms and dirt.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that sounds good.
- 24:58Sean McAllister: And waited for everyone to come back in tears.
- 25:01SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 25:01SPEAKER_06: Oh my gosh.
- 25:02SPEAKER_06: I know it does something to you though, right?
- 25:04SPEAKER_06: It does.
- 25:04Sean McAllister: And that was from an early age, yeah, clearly.
- 25:07SPEAKER_06: But there are people who love it.
- 25:08SPEAKER_06: We have a lot of options here in town, but this is cool that it's gonna be all year long.
- 25:12SPEAKER_06: So I clicked on tickets to see what the deal is.
- 25:15SPEAKER_06: Okay, so general admission, one-time access is 69 bucks.
- 25:19SPEAKER_06: Well, it says starting from, so I don't know if like you add-ons.
- 25:22Sean McAllister: It's probably add-ons, yeah.
- 25:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:24SPEAKER_06: Um, so it you can enter each haunted house one once.
- 25:29SPEAKER_06: Sorry, one time general admission access to each haunted house, each with their own terrifying story.
- 25:36SPEAKER_06: And then they have the general admission ticket, unlimited access.
- 25:41SPEAKER_06: That's 99 bucks.
- 25:43Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 25:43Sean McAllister: So you can just keep going crap out of you.
- 25:46SPEAKER_06: Yep, you just keep going in and doing it over and over and over again as much as you want.
- 25:51SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 25:52SPEAKER_06: Then I saw there's a deal for Nevada residents, the one-time access ticket.
- 25:56SPEAKER_06: Instead of 69, it is uh starting at 59.
- 26:00SPEAKER_06: So a little deal there.
- 26:01SPEAKER_06: You just show your Nevada ID.
- 26:03SPEAKER_06: I like that.
- 26:04SPEAKER_06: Being nice to the locals.
- 26:05SPEAKER_06: Um, and it says that all tickets are sold by date and time based on limited capacity.
- 26:13SPEAKER_06: Price does vary by date a little bit.
- 26:15SPEAKER_06: Um, and it says experiences not recommended for children under the age of 13.
- 26:21SPEAKER_05: So, see, if they're going 13, then I'm definitely not going.
- 26:25Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 26:26SPEAKER_05: They're not like six and under.
- 26:27Sean McAllister: No, I think they're saying, see, this is the kind of thing.
- 26:31Sean McAllister: It it could it sounds like it has potential to create a lasting impact on children younger than 13.
- 26:39Sean McAllister: It sure does.
- 26:40Sean McAllister: I know all too well how that goes.
- 26:42SPEAKER_06: Oh my goodness.
- 26:44SPEAKER_06: Uh, it opens at 2 p.m., closes at 10 p.m.
- 26:47SPEAKER_06: That's the hours now, all dates and time subject.
- 26:50SPEAKER_06: Okay, so you know, but again, opening in August at some point.
- 26:53SPEAKER_06: Um, and then you can go to the website for more information.
- 26:57SPEAKER_06: I just closed it.
- 26:58SPEAKER_06: I think it's just I think it was just universal unleashed.
- 27:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, you can look up Universal Horror Unleashed and it'll pop right up.
- 27:04Sean McAllister: It'll be a top search element.
- 27:07Sean McAllister: Hey, uh, last week on the podcast, we talked about some uh summer deals at uh Sahara.
- 27:15Sean McAllister: We talked about, well, there is another uh hotel summer deal that we wanted to let you know about.
- 27:21Sean McAllister: The Strat Summer of Value Package is running now.
- 27:26Sean McAllister: Uh it's valid on travel from June 1st through December 29th.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: Right through the holiday.
- 27:32Sean McAllister: So really, yeah, for the second half of the year, essentially.
- 27:36Sean McAllister: Um, and this is uh room rates starting at$49.
- 27:41Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 27:41Sean McAllister: That's for a midweek room.
- 27:43Sean McAllister: Uh$99 for weekends.
- 27:46Sean McAllister: But this includes uh resort fees and taxes are included in the price.
- 27:53Sean McAllister: You also get a$25 daily dining credit at participating restaurants on property.
- 28:01Sean McAllister: There's complimentary uh access to the strat tower for up to two guests.
- 28:07Sean McAllister: So this is all going on again from now through December 29th.
- 28:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's a good deal.
- 28:14Sean McAllister: If you book a stay at the strat.
- 28:16SPEAKER_06: So some blackout dates may apply, but I mean, I feel like especially like heading into football season, yes, they have a nice uh area to watch the games in.
- 28:27Sean McAllister: Their sports book.
- 28:27Sean McAllister: There's a PT's that's right down there on the right off of the gaming floor.
- 28:32Sean McAllister: Right.
- 28:32Sean McAllister: And that's connected to the uh sports book with some great viewing.
- 28:36Sean McAllister: Every time we're on property at Strat, we're like, wow, this is a great place to watch a game.
- 28:41SPEAKER_06: It is, yeah, whenever we walk by.
- 28:43SPEAKER_06: I mean, the casino floor is nice at Strat.
- 28:45Sean McAllister: It is.
- 28:45Sean McAllister: I feel like they've done a great job over there.
- 28:47SPEAKER_06: They have of refreshing it.
- 28:49SPEAKER_06: And we were playing slots with the Lawrence brothers.
- 28:51SPEAKER_06: We were penny slots.
- 28:53SPEAKER_06: I gave them three dollars.
- 28:54SPEAKER_06: I said, We need video of you playing slots.
- 28:56SPEAKER_06: Here's three bucks, and they gave me back 40 cents.
- 28:59SPEAKER_06: They're like, anyway.
- 29:03SPEAKER_06: Because I don't get those high-tech over-the-top slots, like I don't know what's going on.
- 29:08Sean McAllister: You like those wheels where it yeah, give me some cherries, cherries, bells, and sevens.
- 29:14SPEAKER_06: Yes, and a gold coin or whatever, so I know that it's a good one.
- 29:17SPEAKER_06: When I see gold, I feel like I should win a lot.
- 29:20SPEAKER_06: Or like a money bag, you know, those bags.
- 29:22Sean McAllister: I love the money bags.
