- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfake, go to roll.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Right, dumps it off into the right flask to Michael Bumpers,
- 0:09Speaker 2: who bounce us off of one tackler gets inside the
- 0:11Speaker 2: forty down of the thirty five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Matt pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 3: into the m zone.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Touchdown.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Say Hawks, it's Michael Thumpins with a diving catching the
- 0:23Speaker 2: end zone. A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and
- 0:26Speaker 2: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 2: place on this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, Nasa Choviie.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks beat
- 0:37Speaker 4: the Dolphins at Lumenfields twenty four to three in a
- 0:40Speaker 4: wild game at Lumenfield, bump Man, it always feels good
- 0:44Speaker 4: to be.
- 0:44Speaker 5: Three and zero defeated. It was a while we had
- 0:46Speaker 5: a business dog. It was a wild.
- 0:48Speaker 3: It was wild in a good way.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Okay, when I hear wild, I think of like just disaster.
- 0:53Speaker 5: There's some things I need to get fixed. But uh
- 0:55Speaker 5: yeah it was a good one.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean there was disasters for the Dolphins at times. Yeah,
- 0:59Speaker 4: that's for sure. Death some things happened there where. The
- 1:01Speaker 4: Seahawks took care of business first place in the NFC
- 1:04Speaker 4: West at three and oh, a two game lead there.
- 1:06Speaker 4: But let's jump in and yesterday's game. What had happened,
- 1:09Speaker 4: see what happened at first?
- 1:11Speaker 6: What happened was what had happened was.
- 1:14Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk.
- 1:17Speaker 3: So it wasn't the cleanest game of all time, by no,
- 1:19Speaker 3: I wasn't.
- 1:19Speaker 6: It wasn't.
- 1:20Speaker 4: I mean, there was twenty two penalties eleven by each team,
- 1:23Speaker 4: and there's probably more flags thrown throughout the game that weren't,
- 1:26Speaker 4: you know, in a couple offsetting penalties and whatnot for
- 1:29Speaker 4: a while there. I think in like the third quarter,
- 1:30Speaker 4: you're like, oh my goodness, it felt like every other
- 1:32Speaker 4: play there's a laundry.
- 1:34Speaker 3: But you know, the guys got after it.
- 1:36Speaker 4: But the cool thing about this game, outside of the
- 1:38Speaker 4: penalties bump, was it showed to me how high this
- 1:40Speaker 4: team ceiling can be and how dominant they could be
- 1:42Speaker 4: when they put everything together. You know, the Seahawks got
- 1:45Speaker 4: on the board first, going twenty eight yards on their
- 1:47Speaker 4: opening drive, settling for a fifty six yard field goal
- 1:49Speaker 4: by Jason Myers. The Dolphins came back with a similar drive,
- 1:53Speaker 4: except their kicker Jason Sanders, missed a fifty seven yard
- 1:56Speaker 4: field goal and bump. The Hawks will come back with
- 1:59Speaker 4: their most pressure drive up the season because five plays
- 2:04Speaker 4: fifty three yards. Anyway, the four yard touchdown by Zach
- 2:06Speaker 4: Sharbonney making it ten zero. I got a little ahead
- 2:09Speaker 4: of myself because I'm referencing the touchdown that's coming later
- 2:11Speaker 4: from DK.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Metcay.
- 2:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I knew she was doing.
- 2:13Speaker 5: But DK still had to play on that drive, twenty
- 2:16Speaker 5: two yard head top on the sideline. He did his thing,
- 2:18Speaker 5: and then after Dolphins punt, the Seahawks would take over
- 2:21Speaker 5: in their own ten yard line and they quickly got
- 2:24Speaker 5: behind the six after DK was called for an office
- 2:26Speaker 5: to pass in appearance. And the first thing I thought
- 2:28Speaker 5: about was people go, man, they're gonna be on DK's head.
- 2:30Speaker 5: They're always talking about his penalties. But you know, I can.
- 2:34Speaker 5: I can deal with some penalties from DK when he's
- 2:36Speaker 5: making play.
- 2:36Speaker 3: With a little bit of acting too. I think Ramsey sold.
- 2:39Speaker 6: It fast, Please sold it.
- 2:40Speaker 5: He knows when you're going up against a guy like DK,
- 2:42Speaker 5: you got to take every opportunity to try to get
- 2:44Speaker 5: an edge.
- 2:44Speaker 6: I think that's what he did.
- 2:46Speaker 5: And then one play later, Gina was under pressure, nearly
- 2:48Speaker 5: sacked for a safety.
- 2:49Speaker 6: He's trying to get it out. I get his thinking.
- 2:51Speaker 5: He goes, look if I get this sack, I excuse me,
- 2:53Speaker 5: this the safety. They get two points and they get
- 2:55Speaker 5: the ball, let's just get it out. Boom and Sharbonay.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Wasn't a perfect throat, No, it was a high he
- 3:00Speaker 5: tipped it Sharpona, I guarantee you he's looking at film
- 3:03Speaker 5: saying I need to make that play for my quarterback.
- 3:04Speaker 5: So I wasn't mad at that. And then the Dolphins
- 3:07Speaker 5: get the ball inside the fine.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Well the nice thing about that too, is this defense
- 3:11Speaker 4: man in other years, the last couple of years, you
- 3:13Speaker 4: might not be confident about the Seahawks getting a stop
- 3:15Speaker 4: in that situation.
- 3:16Speaker 5: I wasn't confident. Out at the five yard line. I'm like, yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 5: that's seven. Let's figure out what we're gonna do after this.
- 3:21Speaker 4: No, there's I mean, goodness, gracious, they've done this so
- 3:24Speaker 4: many times this year. They come up big holding the Dolphins,
- 3:26Speaker 4: so I believe just two yards. So they kick a
- 3:28Speaker 4: field goal that made the score ten to three, and
- 3:30Speaker 4: this is what I was talking about assuming possessions. Sehawk
- 3:32Speaker 4: get back one play, seventy one yard touchdown to DK
- 3:35Speaker 4: Metcalf that made the score seventeen to three. Loved seeing
- 3:38Speaker 4: what we saw from there, Dk Andngino. We'll talk about
- 3:40Speaker 4: that a little bit later and plays of the game.
- 3:42Speaker 4: But then things kind of slowed down a little bit.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Man, the next fourteens possessions was and the zero points.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Now it's like it's fireworks to start the game. My
- 3:52Speaker 5: boonus offense is going, and then it slows down. During
- 3:55Speaker 5: that time, the Seahawks they knocked out sky of Thompson.
- 3:58Speaker 5: I hope you're good. It sounds like it was a
- 3:59Speaker 5: rib or something like that, and the Dolphins turned the
- 4:01Speaker 5: ball over on downs. The Hawks will deliver the game
- 4:04Speaker 5: seling blow as an offense will put together their longest
- 4:06Speaker 5: drive of the season. They went eleven plays, ninety eight
- 4:10Speaker 5: yards and it was complete.
- 4:11Speaker 6: Man.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Our guy Zach Sharbonay had forty two of his ninety
- 4:14Speaker 5: one yards career high on the ground during that dry Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I no, that was a great way to see it.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Because every team talks about a bump what four minute
- 4:21Speaker 4: offense around there. Yep, we're not giving the ball back,
- 4:24Speaker 4: or if we do, it's gonna be the game is
- 4:25Speaker 4: gonna be out of reach.
- 4:26Speaker 3: That's exactly what the Seahawks did.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I heard you talk about it on your show a
- 4:29Speaker 4: little bit as well in the postgame show yesterday, that
- 4:32Speaker 4: Zach Sharboni is a type of runner that needs carries, right,
- 4:35Speaker 4: he needs to kind of get warmed up and continue
- 4:37Speaker 4: to wear defenses down. And you saw that take full
- 4:40Speaker 4: effect on that final drive and the Seahawks went twenty
- 4:43Speaker 4: four to three. But like we said from the beginning,
- 4:44Speaker 4: it wasn't always clean. The Seahawks definitely have things they
- 4:47Speaker 4: need to clean up. But it was a dominant performance
- 4:49Speaker 4: by the Seahawks defense, holding defense to just two hundred
- 4:52Speaker 4: and five yards of total offense.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Man sixty five yards on the ground three point seven
- 4:57Speaker 5: per play. Hill and Wattle they didn't do anything. Was
- 5:00Speaker 5: sixty six yards on seven receptions. I thought they were
- 5:02Speaker 5: going to target them like crazy, We're going They had
- 5:04Speaker 5: like five targets.
- 5:05Speaker 6: It was crazy. Tyree, he's Tyree, we got He's Tyreek.
- 5:08Speaker 5: H On the offense that the Seahawks struggled in this
- 5:11Speaker 5: in second and third quarters, but came up late to
- 5:14Speaker 5: is the game. They are three and o for the
- 5:16Speaker 5: eighth time in franchise history. This franchise has been around
- 5:19Speaker 5: by forty nine forty a year or something like that.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Forty nine.
- 5:22Speaker 5: That's big Man forty nine years, the eighth time. Coach
- 5:25Speaker 5: McDonald already doing some things that ain't been done here.
- 5:27Speaker 4: No love to see it. And I got this note
- 5:29Speaker 4: from Dave Wymans shot him out on this. Once you
- 5:32Speaker 4: take away the top ten plays by the Dolphins yesterday,
- 5:35Speaker 4: that means they only had thirty six yards on.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Forty six places.
- 5:40Speaker 6: That's crazy.
- 5:41Speaker 4: So that kind of shows you the type of the
- 5:43Speaker 4: defensive Seahawks are playing right now.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And yes, was there a backup quarterback? Sure?
- 5:47Speaker 4: Okay, then did they get to the third CeON quarterback
- 5:48Speaker 4: in Tim Boyle, who actually made a couple of nice
- 5:50Speaker 4: throws across the military.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I see you do. I see you do.
- 5:54Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, you still got
- 5:56Speaker 3: to do it.
- 5:56Speaker 4: You still got to show up, and you still gotta
- 5:58Speaker 4: take care of business matter who you're playing. This is
- 6:00Speaker 4: the National Football League. Everyone gets paid to play. So
- 6:03Speaker 4: still super impressive to see what the Seahawks were able
- 6:05Speaker 4: to do against the Dolphins on Sunday, and there was
- 6:08Speaker 4: plenty of people making plays.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Let's hear the playmakers.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Touch playmakers told him what time? Totally?
- 6:21Speaker 5: All right, Let's get to the playmakers, starting with the
- 6:23Speaker 5: guy under center, the general Geno Smith twenty six or
- 6:28Speaker 5: thirty four for two hundred and eighty five yards, one touchdown,
- 6:30Speaker 5: two interceptions. Okay, look here the two interceptions. All right,
- 6:33Speaker 5: I've been called a Geno apologist on my own show,
- 6:36Speaker 5: and I might. Look, I'm just keeping it one hunting right.
- 6:38Speaker 5: One interception. He was just trying to make a play
- 6:41Speaker 5: and it could have win either way. The other interception,
- 6:44Speaker 5: klays Campbell. I believe it was Stimpson football. He just
- 6:47Speaker 5: makes a good play. So look, two interceptions, but I'm
- 6:49Speaker 5: not putting it on him.
- 6:50Speaker 6: It is what it is.
- 6:51Speaker 5: He completed seventy five percent of his passes for the
- 6:53Speaker 5: second consecutive week, and Gino's two hundred yards in the
- 6:56Speaker 5: first half was the second highest of his career. And
- 7:00Speaker 5: like I said, two interceptions, unlucky man. I can deal
- 7:03Speaker 5: with that. He's still second in the league when it
- 7:05Speaker 5: comes to completion percentage. He's taking care of the ball,
- 7:07Speaker 5: drive him down the field. Seventy one yard touchdown to
- 7:10Speaker 5: to DK. I'm all good with the way Gino's playing,
- 7:13Speaker 5: no question about it.
- 7:14Speaker 4: He might be the most unlucky guy in the play
- 7:16Speaker 4: it when it comes to interceptions. When they happen, it
- 7:18Speaker 4: usually doesn't happen in a great situation obviously, but super
- 7:21Speaker 4: unlucky player. I love how Gino Smith is playing right now,
- 7:23Speaker 4: definitely taking the team on his back. And then postgame
- 7:25Speaker 4: he was really upset about it.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Was high.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm like, I feel pretty good. If you're upset
- 7:29Speaker 4: with that performance, what you want to be all of
- 7:32Speaker 4: these smokes. We're just getting started here right now. Then,
- 7:35Speaker 4: is receiving mad Dk metcalf man ten receptions, one hundred
- 7:38Speaker 4: and twenty nine yards, one touchdown, back to back one
- 7:41Speaker 4: hundred yard games, first time he's done that since weeks
- 7:43Speaker 4: three and four in the twenty twenty season. This was
- 7:46Speaker 4: also his fourteenth career one hundred yard game, and that
- 7:49Speaker 4: seventy one yard touchdown we talked about that catch was
- 7:51Speaker 4: the third longest of his career. He now has seven
- 7:54Speaker 4: career touchdowns to fifty yards or more. So I love
- 7:57Speaker 4: what we're seeing from Dk metcalf If he's gonna put
- 7:58Speaker 4: up these kind of numbers every single week. It's gonna
- 8:00Speaker 4: be incredibly hard to cover this. This receiving corse we've
- 8:04Speaker 4: talked about so great big ups DK there.
- 8:06Speaker 5: Man when he scored the seventy one I got, I
- 8:08Speaker 5: got to be the longest, right, and then he has
- 8:09Speaker 5: with a seventy three yarder in there. He's explosive man.
- 8:13Speaker 5: The last, the longest. The last longest one I remember
- 8:15Speaker 5: was against Detroit. A slant was it was the Cowboys.
- 8:19Speaker 5: I was okay, Cowboys. He took a slant in the house.
- 8:22Speaker 5: DK Man one of the more explosive receivers in the game.
- 8:26Speaker 5: I just talk about Zach Sharbon. They eighteen carres for
- 8:28Speaker 5: ninety one yards and two touchdowns, career high in rushing yards.
- 8:31Speaker 5: His previous high was sixty against Dallas. Had forty two
- 8:34Speaker 5: yards on that last drive we talked about the one
- 8:36Speaker 5: that sealed the game. It was a ninety eight yard drive.
- 8:39Speaker 5: He did his thing. He now has four touchdowns on
- 8:41Speaker 5: the season. As a team. The Hawks ran for one
- 8:44Speaker 5: hundred yards. That's always nice to see when you don't
- 8:46Speaker 5: have K nine. That was the thing last week and
- 8:49Speaker 5: you listen to Zach Scharboney talking is you know the conference.
- 8:52Speaker 5: It won't even press conference. It was with Jim Muller,
- 8:53Speaker 5: I think by the locker room or something. And he goes,
- 8:55Speaker 5: he was so disappointed in the way that he played,
- 8:57Speaker 5: and I go, look, man, you're you're just getting your fear.
- 9:00Speaker 5: You got some reps last year. He had over four
- 9:02Speaker 5: hund yards last year on the round. But he's never
- 9:04Speaker 5: been the guy that was guaranteed almost twenty carries a game.
- 9:08Speaker 5: So work yourself into it, don't beat yourself up. He
- 9:11Speaker 5: comes back the next week does this thing.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Oh, Zach sharbonnay full faith in this running back room
- 9:16Speaker 4: for sure. We haven't talked about Kenny mcinnowh who finally
- 9:18Speaker 4: got his feet, which I love to see for Kenny.
- 9:20Speaker 4: But no, all three of those guys who make plays.
- 9:22Speaker 4: It'll be great to see hopefully Canin' back this week.
- 9:25Speaker 4: But yeah, I love see what we got from Zach Sharboney.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Now defensively this young man. Yeah, buddy, Derek Hall, pride
- 9:33Speaker 4: of Auburn University. The best thing that Auburn has gone
- 9:35Speaker 4: right now is Derek Hall. Derek Hall had five tackles,
- 9:40Speaker 4: two sacks, one TfL four quarterback kits I love what
- 9:43Speaker 4: we're seeing from him because we knew how much potential
- 9:46Speaker 4: he had. There's a reason John Schnyder in company drafted
- 9:48Speaker 4: this man. It's because of his physicality, his speed, the
- 9:51Speaker 4: way he plays the game with his hair on fire,
- 9:53Speaker 4: the way he can rush the passer. And we got
- 9:55Speaker 4: to see all of that against the Dolphins on Sunday.
- 9:58Speaker 4: And let me tell you the one play before the
- 10:00Speaker 4: end of the half and Skylar Thompson is sitting there
- 10:03Speaker 4: and everyone, I think probably I don't know sixty nine
- 10:05Speaker 4: thousand people as well as everyone in the press box
- 10:07Speaker 4: was like, oh my, oh yeah, yeah, I mean, goodness, grato,
- 10:11Speaker 4: Derek Hall doing your thing.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Love to see what we're getting there. That man, he
- 10:13Speaker 5: had to marinate for a year. I said, look, I'm
- 10:15Speaker 5: gonna learn a little bit. I'm gonna have my highs,
- 10:17Speaker 5: my lows, but I'm coming out swinging. And at Chennan
- 10:20Speaker 5: the Wolfson wasn't there. You wanted chin of there. But
- 10:22Speaker 5: the silver lining is a guy like Derek Hall gets
- 10:25Speaker 5: more reps and he gets more confidence and he starts
- 10:27Speaker 5: making plays.
- 10:28Speaker 6: I'm happy for that young man.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Also this one too, man Rashaan Jenkins, I didn't know
- 10:32Speaker 5: what to expect when he joined the squad. He played
- 10:34Speaker 5: for the Jags, didn't know much about him. Watch the film.
- 10:36Speaker 5: I go, Okay, he looks good. He's been a force
- 10:38Speaker 5: to be reckoned win and he's bigger than what people think.
- 10:41Speaker 5: I saw him what in the press room yes last week,
- 10:44Speaker 5: and I sized him up a little bit.
- 10:45Speaker 6: I go, yeah, you're big dog.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I see.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Yeah, Jenkins had ten tackles eight solo.
- 10:50Speaker 2: He is.
- 10:51Speaker 5: He plays with an energy and a spark on that
- 10:54Speaker 5: back end that I don't think that we got consistently
- 10:56Speaker 5: towards the end of last season.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 4: What I love about Rashaan two is that every time
- 11:01Speaker 4: I keep hearing coach McDonald talk about him, or when
- 11:04Speaker 4: he spoke about playing in this defense, Yeah, when you
- 11:06Speaker 4: look at the flip card, if you look at your
- 11:08Speaker 4: box score, okay, safety, but he's really playing three positions. Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 4: that's the part that really stands out to me. And
- 11:14Speaker 4: how complicated as everyone makes this defense that Mike McDonald
- 11:17Speaker 4: has brought here, how difficult it is to understand the
- 11:20Speaker 4: fact that you're playing three positions and how versatile everyone
- 11:22Speaker 4: has to be. Makes rache On that much more, you know, intriguing,
- 11:26Speaker 4: and you know. I'm just impressed about what he's doing
- 11:28Speaker 4: because he's doing big things. Then t Dot t dot
- 11:32Speaker 4: Tyreil dots in five tackles, one sack, huge sackers. We'll
- 11:35Speaker 4: talk about a little bit later once TfL one quarterback hit.
- 11:39Speaker 4: If you keep Dotson clean in terms of the defensive
- 11:42Speaker 4: line in front, he will make a million plays. When
- 11:45Speaker 4: you watch him fly around the football field, it's really
- 11:47Speaker 4: fun to watch all There'll be tons of plays where
- 11:49Speaker 4: I just pick and choose. I'm gonna watch one player
- 11:51Speaker 4: on defense, and everyone's making plays, whether there's Julian, whether
- 11:54Speaker 4: there's Jenkins or t dot So love to see number
- 11:56Speaker 4: zero flying around.
- 11:57Speaker 5: I locked in on a little my binoculars in the
- 11:59Speaker 5: press box for a couple of plays.
- 12:01Speaker 6: And the instincts that he has.
- 12:02Speaker 5: You mentioned keeping them clean, and if you keep them
- 12:04Speaker 5: clean and he can look in the backfield and see
- 12:06Speaker 5: what's going on, he'll take his run reads.
- 12:08Speaker 6: If it's not their boom, he's dropping in the coverage.
- 12:10Speaker 5: My man is versatile, and him being the guy that
- 12:14Speaker 5: he is allows allow this young man to have himself
- 12:16Speaker 5: a good day. Tyree's Knight. This was his first start
- 12:19Speaker 5: in the NFL. He had six tackles in one TfL.
- 12:22Speaker 5: He learned a lot man. Last week he got a
- 12:24Speaker 5: bunch of snaps. This week he gets a bunch of snaps.
- 12:27Speaker 5: And it's just a learning process for this young man.
- 12:29Speaker 5: So while he's learning, he's gonna make some mistakes. Everyone
- 12:32Speaker 5: makes mistakes in a football game, but they're always highlighted
- 12:34Speaker 5: when they're rookie. He's gonna make his mistakes, but he
- 12:36Speaker 5: will flash and show you like, look, if I keep
- 12:39Speaker 5: getting these reps, y'all keep putting me out there, I'm
- 12:41Speaker 5: gonna blossom as a linebacker and do a thing.
- 12:44Speaker 6: So you're creating depth with this LB group.
- 12:46Speaker 5: You had Jerome, you have Dotson, Now you have Tyree
- 12:50Speaker 5: Knight who's been getting some time as well. We're not
- 12:52Speaker 5: gonna mention this young man, but Drake Thomas was out
- 12:54Speaker 5: there doing this thing too.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Man.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I love that you talk about death and
- 12:58Speaker 4: now you feel good. Where so you want Dotson and
- 13:00Speaker 4: Baker in the lineup every week, but now you start
- 13:02Speaker 4: having other guy's being able to play and be like, okay,
- 13:04Speaker 4: if someone goes down, we have guys accepted in play
- 13:07Speaker 4: and just just defense as a whole. I want highlight
- 13:08Speaker 4: six sacks, sevent TFLs, three passes offended, twelve quarterback hits.
- 13:13Speaker 3: They're playing with their hair on fire. You saw what happened.
- 13:16Speaker 4: They got put in a couple difficult positions against the
- 13:19Speaker 4: Dolphins on Sunday and they are just flying around and
- 13:22Speaker 4: they're gonna need to We're gonna break down the Lions
- 13:24Speaker 4: later this week. They're gonna need to keep playing at
- 13:26Speaker 4: that high level because they have been crushing it. It's
- 13:29Speaker 4: been really fun to see the Seahawks play this brand
- 13:31Speaker 4: of football style that no one wants to play. Scoach
- 13:34Speaker 4: McDonald's mentioned, so good to see that bump.
- 13:36Speaker 3: It's getting those receivers. Man, what happened? Round up all right?
- 13:38Speaker 2: Man?
- 13:39Speaker 5: DK Like you mentioned back to back weeks with one
- 13:41Speaker 5: hundred yards, he had four receptions on six targets for
- 13:44Speaker 5: one to four and long as seventy one. No thank you, sir.
- 13:47Speaker 5: Wad to bounce back last week, had a couple of drops.
- 13:50Speaker 5: People were doubting them. You stay focused, you do your thing.
- 13:53Speaker 5: He had six targets, six receptions sixty yards. Tyler Lockett
- 13:57Speaker 5: had a sneaky five for forty six, some clutch catches
- 14:00Speaker 5: late in the game in early in the game, Jackson,
- 14:02Speaker 5: Smith and Jigba have three targets, three catches for thirty
- 14:05Speaker 5: nine yards. Sharberney contributed three catches for sixteen. Aj Barner
- 14:09Speaker 5: did this thing. I was watching him on film run
- 14:11Speaker 5: his routes. He understands it. He understands the spacing, the leverage,
- 14:14Speaker 5: how to get open. It's on a matter of time
- 14:15Speaker 5: before he has a big game. And then Ferrol Brown
- 14:18Speaker 5: is like the muscle when it comes to that that
- 14:20Speaker 5: tighty hand group man. He had one for nine. It
- 14:22Speaker 5: was a big catch, but he was physical. And then
- 14:24Speaker 5: Leviskus Channault's had a football that he caught in the flat.
- 14:27Speaker 5: He caldn't really do much with it, but he caught
- 14:28Speaker 5: it and gained a couple of yards.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Hey, anytime you have that many people catching, you know,
- 14:33Speaker 4: passes from Gino Smith, it's a great thing for those
- 14:36Speaker 4: receivers and other position players. Now let's get into the
- 14:39Speaker 4: kind of the plays of the game. Some ones that
- 14:41Speaker 4: sit out to us. We've been talking about it all
- 14:43Speaker 4: game long. It's dk Metcalfs seventy one yard touchdown from
- 14:47Speaker 4: Gino Smith, Gino.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Out of a shotgun Macintosh in the game, and now
- 14:53Speaker 2: he swings out to the left side.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Gino steps up in the pocket, looks hold.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Prosy got DK open thirty.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Twenty fifty kN Dot runs away from my honey touchdown.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Shay hawks a seventy one yarder to DK. Gino waited, waited,
- 15:13Speaker 2: great rounds and then DK just popped into the secondary open.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Gino laid it up there and the secondary never had
- 15:23Speaker 2: a chance to catch DK.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Bum tell us about this play. So this is what
- 15:28Speaker 5: I think the defense is in. I think they're in
- 15:31Speaker 5: a cover two match. So what that means is that
- 15:34Speaker 5: you're running cover two, but once someone gets into your zone,
- 15:37Speaker 5: it essentially becomes man. If someone leaves your zone, then
- 15:41Speaker 5: you pass them off to the safety. I'm watching the
- 15:43Speaker 5: way the corner played DK, and I believe I think
- 15:46Speaker 5: that's a lock it in the slot right there. I'm
- 15:48Speaker 5: Lockett runs an out, so the corner gets death with DK.
- 15:52Speaker 5: He sees the out and he jumps on it and
- 15:54Speaker 5: leaves the slant, which he thinks it is a slam
- 15:58Speaker 5: to the safety.
- 15:58Speaker 6: The safety sees the slat and is flat footed.
- 16:01Speaker 5: He's expecting DK to get the ball in this big
- 16:04Speaker 5: hole that was created by that out route by number sixteen.
- 16:07Speaker 5: So when he hits it, and DK does a great
- 16:09Speaker 5: job of getting his eyes back to the quarterback, selling
- 16:12Speaker 5: the slam, his body language, his eyes make the safety
- 16:16Speaker 5: get flat footed. And then once he hits that third
- 16:18Speaker 5: step left foot, boom, snaps it vertical and it was over.
- 16:21Speaker 5: As soon as he put his foot in the row. Yeah,
- 16:23Speaker 5: soon as he put his foot in the ground, the
- 16:24Speaker 5: safety's flat footed. You stand no chance. Geno throws one
- 16:28Speaker 5: over the top. Dcat slowed out just a little bit,
- 16:30Speaker 5: so he kind of turned the burners on. These are
- 16:33Speaker 5: the shots that I'm talking about. Man, you gotta take
- 16:35Speaker 5: shots with DK. So now with the what this is
- 16:37Speaker 5: gonna do, it's on film. Teams are going to be
- 16:40Speaker 5: so hesitant to react to what he's doing because they're
- 16:43Speaker 5: afraid of the shot right here. Love this for DK
- 16:46Speaker 5: and this was a great response after that interception by Geno.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Well, no question, And from a secondary perspective, you know
- 16:52Speaker 4: what you call that when you read a play and
- 16:54Speaker 4: you're like, Okay, that's a slant I'm gonna get here.
- 16:56Speaker 4: That's an oh read right there, because you know so
- 17:00Speaker 4: once you once you take a step forward, or you
- 17:02Speaker 4: can get flat footed when you have a track star
- 17:05Speaker 4: type speed from DK Metcalf. You are in trouble and
- 17:08Speaker 4: you are not recovering from that. That is the worst
- 17:11Speaker 4: place on earth to be as a defensive back with
- 17:13Speaker 4: DK Metcalf running full speed towards you. So that was
- 17:16Speaker 4: a huge play there. Now we talked about it also earlier.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Tyrol Dotson made a lot of plays. This was his
- 17:22Speaker 4: big time sack on Skyler Thompson.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Third down and two, Well, get ahin going down.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It's Tompson and he is really slow to get up
- 17:33Speaker 2: this time, as it was Dotson Te dot who came
- 17:37Speaker 2: right up the gun and Skyler Thompson is walking off
- 17:42Speaker 2: a field.
- 17:42Speaker 1: But he is not.
- 17:44Speaker 6: Well, yeah, this right here. Third and two.
- 17:48Speaker 5: They've packed the formation in so it's a There's a
- 17:51Speaker 5: lot of guys on the line of scrimmage, but t
- 17:53Speaker 5: Do does a good job of not showing that he
- 17:55Speaker 5: is going to blitz. He's blitzing from depth, and that's
- 17:57Speaker 5: always how you can confuse this off. It's alignment. You
- 18:00Speaker 5: blitz from death because they got to focus on what's
- 18:03Speaker 5: in front of him. Right now, there's a bunch of
- 18:04Speaker 5: guys in the line of scrimmage. Everybody is covered. It
- 18:07Speaker 5: is a great call by Mike McDonald and dirty right there.
- 18:11Speaker 6: This is just acceleration. Accelerate, get to the.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Quarterback, hit him hard, wrap him up, don't put your
- 18:16Speaker 5: weight on him because they will throw a flag on
- 18:18Speaker 5: you in a big third and two sack right there,
- 18:22Speaker 5: number zero, get her done.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Obviously, it wasn't trying to hurt anybody. That just shows
- 18:26Speaker 4: you the physicality from this defense. And honestly, Skyler was
- 18:29Speaker 4: a champ. He tried to stay in the game. Like
- 18:31Speaker 4: you could tell, he stayed down for a while there,
- 18:33Speaker 4: came back in the game, took another little shot from
- 18:36Speaker 4: Draymond Jones, and then was like, Okay, I gotta say handle,
- 18:38Speaker 4: that's enough because this defense is flying around hitting everybody.
- 18:41Speaker 4: And I love to see that because again, consistently all
- 18:44Speaker 4: the coach talks about it. Twelve is one a style
- 18:46Speaker 4: that no one wants to play. They're consistently doing that
- 18:49Speaker 4: and I love to see and wrap it up here
- 18:51Speaker 4: with plays of the game. This is Zach Sharboney capped
- 18:53Speaker 4: off that long ninety one yard drive with this ten
- 18:57Speaker 4: yard touchdown run, shuck it down and.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Seven and he stays in the game to charmoney and
- 19:02Speaker 2: he gets the handoff and he looks for running room
- 19:05Speaker 2: and he pops it outside. Your time down to the
- 19:07Speaker 2: one pen touchdown. Say Hawks set Charmona scores from thirteen out,
- 19:17Speaker 2: make it ten out and a couple of players had
- 19:22Speaker 2: to be pulled apart down on the field. But the
- 19:25Speaker 2: big play made by charbone hits it up inside, bounces
- 19:29Speaker 2: it outside to the right, and out runs under the
- 19:32Speaker 2: end zone his second touchdown of the game, makes it
- 19:35Speaker 2: twenty three to three.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Yeah, just a zone. Look right here. What they do
- 19:40Speaker 5: is a Hawks do a great job. They overload the
- 19:42Speaker 5: left side. You got two receivers tight to the line
- 19:44Speaker 5: of scrimmage. You got a tight end in a two
- 19:46Speaker 5: point stands one by one right there. The defense has
- 19:48Speaker 5: to adjust. You gotta put more players to that side
- 19:50Speaker 5: because the more players to that side, so there is
- 19:53Speaker 5: designed to hit towards the left side. Typically when you
- 19:56Speaker 5: run a zone, you leave the backside on blocks. So
- 19:58Speaker 5: we used to call this Italy in my offense. Italy,
- 20:01Speaker 5: we're gonna take care of the backside, so we're good
- 20:03Speaker 5: to go. You just gotta beat a linebacker. What makes
- 20:05Speaker 5: this thing go is one Zach Charbonay is in his
- 20:08Speaker 5: groove he's already had a few carries. He's getting downhill.
- 20:11Speaker 5: But big up to this offensive line. They've been a
- 20:13Speaker 5: big topic so far this first three games. But on
- 20:15Speaker 5: this play they block it to perfection. You combo to
- 20:18Speaker 5: the linebackers. If he gets to the backside, which is
- 20:21Speaker 5: the weak side, all you have to do is make
- 20:22Speaker 5: a safety miss.
- 20:23Speaker 6: That's exactly what happens.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Drags another receiver, excuse me, another defensive player into the
- 20:28Speaker 5: end zone. Big boy, run celebrate. I started him on
- 20:32Speaker 5: my fantasy football team.
- 20:33Speaker 6: I appreciate you. Zach Scharboney, hey Man.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Sharbonnay Sharbonne.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 20:38Speaker 3: No, It's really fun to see that.
- 20:39Speaker 4: And like you said, at the end of the game,
- 20:40Speaker 4: you're at the point defensively there's getting worn down, worn down,
- 20:44Speaker 4: worn down. You're talking about breaking the team's will right there.
- 20:47Speaker 4: That's what Jack Sharbonay did on that final play and
- 20:50Speaker 4: set up the greatest formation in football, especially when it's
- 20:53Speaker 4: on your team victory formation.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Here comes the Seahawk offense onto the field and the
- 20:59Speaker 2: Vikings defense crunching out there knowing that one meal down
- 21:05Speaker 2: and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and
- 21:08Speaker 2: win this one.
- 21:08Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Wasn't always pretty, but the Seahawks again pick up another
- 21:15Speaker 4: hard fought victory to improve to three to zero on
- 21:17Speaker 4: the season. Head coach Mike McDonald became the fifth head
- 21:20Speaker 4: coach under the age of forty since two thousand to
- 21:23Speaker 4: win each of his first three career games, joining Mike McDaniel,
- 21:26Speaker 4: Matt Lafleur, and Josh McDaniels and Mike Tomlin. So love
- 21:30Speaker 4: to see that from coach doing things that haven't been
- 21:33Speaker 4: done for a while at least, you know, nice company,
- 21:36Speaker 4: I should say. And the Seahawks only starting three to
- 21:38Speaker 4: zero for the eighth time in franchise history.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Man minus Mike Tomlin. That group that's like the young
- 21:44Speaker 5: way of group. Mike McDaniel of the floor. You got
- 21:46Speaker 5: Josh McDaniels. I mean, Josh, you know he's had his
- 21:48Speaker 5: up and downs, but that's a good group right there.
- 21:51Speaker 5: The Hawks led from start to finish, out geting the
- 21:53Speaker 5: Dolphins three seventy to two oh five. They won the
- 21:55Speaker 5: time of possession thirty one minutes of twenty eight, had
- 21:58Speaker 5: eight more first downs, and all over the backup quarterback
- 22:02Speaker 5: Skyler Thompson.
- 22:03Speaker 6: It was rough for him.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Man, he will sack six times seven TFLs. This defense
- 22:07Speaker 5: had three passes defended. Twelve quarterbacks come on, violence and
- 22:12Speaker 5: speed all over the field. That's a tough combination to
- 22:16Speaker 5: play against in offense. Zach Sharbonnain career day, we talked
- 22:19Speaker 5: about a dk Metcalf goes over one hundred yards for
- 22:21Speaker 5: the second consecutive week, and again some people might say
- 22:26Speaker 5: that this win doesn't matter as much because there's a
- 22:29Speaker 5: backup quarterback. I'll say this until I'm blue in the face.
- 22:32Speaker 5: I'll say it loud for the people in the back.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Never apologize for wins.
- 22:37Speaker 4: And in national football now, quite frankly, at any level,
- 22:40Speaker 4: but especially in the NFL, there's professionals on both sides.
- 22:43Speaker 4: There's all pros. On the other side, there's head coaches
- 22:46Speaker 4: that get paid. Mikey Daniels a hell of a coach
- 22:48Speaker 4: as well. So don't apologize for wins. The Seahawks are
- 22:51Speaker 4: three to zero. No one can take anything away from that.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Don't take anything for granted. Bump, Nah, you can't. Man,
- 22:55Speaker 4: You take your wins.
- 22:56Speaker 5: I don't care if they started a receiver at quarterback
- 22:58Speaker 5: against US on You take those wins, baby, Hawks in
- 23:02Speaker 5: first place, and yet now you gotta go to Detroit
- 23:04Speaker 5: for Monday night football.
- 23:05Speaker 6: It's gonna be a good one.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Seahawks have won the last couple of games in Detroit.
- 23:09Speaker 4: They have been shootouts. This is gonna be a hell
- 23:12Speaker 4: of a matchup. I cannot wait to talk about that game.
- 23:14Speaker 4: Me and Bump will be back with you on Thursday
- 23:16Speaker 4: to break down the Lions and Seahawks matchup. Seahawks win
- 23:20Speaker 4: against the Miami Dolphins improved the three to zero on
- 23:23Speaker 4: the season. He's Michael Bumbas on nasachobe until next time.
- 23:26Speaker 4: This has been hot talk.
