To make you smile today, we're going to hit the top three things you need to know. The morning mindbender, Mindy's Minute with Days of Thunder, part two. The sequel is coming. Feel good story of the day, which we're going to give a shout-out to Brevard Public Schools High School's national rankings list just came out. What's trending for Labor Day weekend and upcoming free local events where you could take the family because we know we're all on a budget, at least I am. And funny stories about my family. And we're gonna venture into my relationship with my husband. Because when you're moving or remodeling, in this case, remodeling, if you can get through it, you got a solid relationship. The NASA administrator announced a potential launch date for the Artemis III mission. We're looking at June of next year. The Artemis III mission plan involves docking. The Orion spacecraft with landers from both SpaceX and Blue Origin in low Earth orbit. So that means a lot of people are gonna be here in June, spending a lot of money on the Space Coast. Good news for us. Health First Viera Hospital has earned another spot on the new Forbes list of top hospitals by state, earning a five-star overall hospital quality rating. Viera is one of only 10 hospitals. out of more than 370 in the state of Florida and the only hospital here in Brevard County to receive the five star rating. Congratulations. And if you're traveling this Labor Day weekend, get ready to pay more. No big surprise. And of course heavy traffic, Triple A says a round trip airfare ticket's gonna cost you about $750. Nope, ain't gonna do it. I'll just stay here on Merritt Island in my backyard. Or maybe hit the beach, which that survey is coming up. Hotel bookings are also going up. This year's top domestic destinations include Seattle, Orlando, no big surprise, Boston, Denver, and New York. And if you are heading to Orlando, maybe hitting the theme parks. Best part of that living here in Brevard, an hour 528. You know, you're gonna be heading west. Go have some fun at theme parks and then come home and sleep in your own bed. Not much cost there. The top three things you need to know. Coming up. If your relationship can survive moving or remodeling, you're golden. Let me tell you about this story. So I got a little my husband is like the best, right? So he's my producer, my interior decorator, my designer here in the office. And he's done so much to get this going. He designed this whole office. I I didn't. I was like, you know, we'll get to it. And he's like, no, no, we're gonna put it all out there. I don't know where he found some of these things. Like, I was, where'd you find this? in the box here, in the box there, and hanging here. I mean, he's worked on it so much. And like every every week we're progressing. So as you can see, he put up the space things that I've had. Now I've covered, I should say how much since the shuttles, 26 years, and I've covered all almost all the shuttle launches and a few of the rocket launches. And then I've also hosted the gateway to space for the American Cancer Society. So on the top part here. You can see all the metals from emceeing all the runs, the 5k and the 10K. And then a couple of pictures. And I know these frames are empty, but he's gonna put my badges up there. So when we do a shuttle launch, they always give you either a patch or a sticker for that launch. So we're trying to hunt them all down. And so that's why they're empty. We're not trying to be art deco and be like, empty frames. What does that mean? It it just means they're empty. That's all it means. And he's he's trying to find it. So little by little he's keeps remodeling the the podcast room or my podcast studio, which he's done such a great job. So if you can get through remodeling and moving with your significant other, you're golden. Moving is probably the worst thing to do with a relationship because you really test everything from you know packing, moving, unpacking, wear and tear, friends coming, family coming, everyone giving you their opinions on where to put this, where to put that. Those are like the two things that tested our relationship, the moving part. I hate moving. And then remodeling. As you can tell, I talk a lot. Good or bad. That's just me. And sometimes I have to keep my inner self inside and my outer self back inside. And just let him touch it. Because I'll walk in here. I have OCD. So I walk in here. I'm like, look at this. Look at this. look at that. Don't touch it. Don't touch it. I have it perfect. Okay, babe. Don't touch it. Don't touch this. Don't touch it. I got you. I got you. You're the best. The best babe. I love you. So if you can survive moving and remodeling, they're a keeper. I think I'll keep them for the next 30 years. That's my story. You always want to hear family stories. That was the one this week. Coming up next, the morning mind bender, a question you could take to work. Or, you know, if you're going to a barbecue Labor Day weekend, this is a good question for you. Plus, we'll give you the answer to last week's morning mind bender. Let's do the morning mind bender and last week's question. Let's wrap that up first. Here was the question. At work, one in three people have admitted that they have experienced this. Can you guess what it is? Having their lunch stolen. That was the answer from last week. I I still don't understand that. If your name's on your lunch or you know you have your lunch box and everybody knows what it is, you got the nerve to go through somebody's lunch. I know sometimes you're hungry. I get that, you know, and you want to have a snack or two. I'm sure. There are snacks out there that you can find in your work kitchen. You better check the expiration date, but taking someone else's food, I don't think so. So, question for this week. What drink should you avoid if you want to keep mosquitoes away? Living on Merritt Island, if you're barbecuing this weekend, you know, mosquitoes are everywhere. Just everywhere. I could say anywhere in Brevard, but to avoid, okay, what drink should you avoid if you want to keep mosquitoes away? And this is My sister's favorite drink. She's gonna yell at me. I always get phone calls off of this, but this is a podcast, so you get a week to call me and yell at me. so this is her favorite drink. It's nice and sudsy. She likes it cold and it shh opens up and then go go go go go. Yeah, okay. So those those are my sound effects. Sometimes you have it at a barbecue, sometimes you have it after work, sometimes you have it with friends, football games, college football games, all that. Yes. You know, whatever sports, baseball. You know, it may cost you a pretty penny if you're going to one of the stadiums. I'm giving you lots of clues for this one. I will admit, I love the first one. Even with Tom Cruise's hair being curly. Let's kick off Mindy's Minute. Anne Hathaway, this is a big surprise, is set to star with Tom Cruise in the Days of Thunder sequel. Cruz made the announcement alongside Hathaway at our very own Coke Zero Sugar 400 at the Daytona International Speedway this past Saturday. If I knew he was gonna be there, I might have gotten tickets. Well, maybe not. Well, anyway, Cole Trickle is back, which I'm really excited about. And Hathaway will play a race car team owner and engineer. Now, Robert Duvall in the movie Days of Thunder was funny. I loved him in that. Unfortunately, he passed away. In February, plus all the movies he's done. So I'm not sure if they're gonna do like a tribute to him or something. They must. They have to. The original film was released back in 1990 and made over a hundred and fifty million bucks. The Days of Thunder sequel will hit theaters on June 2nd in 2028. So that means filming is going on maybe next year. Maybe he was there this past weekend to film something. You never know. And what's interesting is that I lived in Daytona. At the time when the movie was released and everybody was, you know, going gaga over it. It was really exciting. And you know the race scene where he goes through the Daytona Hilton, right? They're racing, you know, down the streets of A1A. But the Daytona Hilton, that's where I got married. So my husband and I always watch it, that's where I got married. Hey, they're passing out our old house. Hey, they're passing the old neighborhood. It's you know, you love it when they do movies like in your hometown so that you can point out things. So that was really cool. Yes, I'm geeking out. I'm a fan. I'm a fan of Days of Thunder, fan of Garth Brooks too. Garth Brooks is announcing back-to-back performances in Orlando as part of his Blame It All on My Roots arena tour. The two shows will be at the Kia Center on September 25th and September 26th. So excited about this. I mean, come on, it's Garth Brooks. When the thunder rolls. Yeah, that's not. Yeah, I won't sing. You know I can't. But Garth Brooks, my husband's look alike. And it's true because when we're in the airport, people keep following him, thinking he's Garth Brooks Garth Brooks. Someone actually followed him from the airplane all the way up to the parking garage at OIA. And my husband goes, I'm not Garth Brooks. And he got in his pickup truck. And it wasn't a fancy pickup truck. You know, Garth Brooks would probably have a limo, you know, a big SUV, bodyguards. No. So they literally they followed my husband in the parking lot. It's like, I'm not Garth Brooks. I I kept trying to tell him you need to go in contest so that we can win some money. As a Garth Brooks lookalike. If you're a Disney fan, you're gonna love this. The new X-Men movie will hit theaters in May of 2028. Kristen Bell and Josh Gad are back in Frozen 3 in the fall of next year. And Zootopia 3, Coco 2, Lilo and Stitch 2, and a new Star Wars movie are all coming. But here's the one I'm waiting for. My husband and I love the Incredibles. Big fans. Incredibles 1, Incredibles 2, and now Incredibles 3. Is coming back. I'm excited about this. Hopefully they got everyone back from the original two because it's really good. It's one of my favorites. And that's it for Mindy's Minute. Next, the topic of the day, since it's Labor Day weekend, your go-to grilling dish here on the Space Coast. What is your favorite food that you like to grill? Because this weekend we're grilling. Unless it's 110 degrees and the mosquitoes are out. There's always an excuse to grill indoors. Let's get to that topic. Hot dogs, burgers, or steaks on the grill. All three are like my favorite. So what is your grilling dish? So think about that now. And as you're thinking about that, I want to give a shout out to last week's topic. Last week's topic was what's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? And we got great responses. So Yasmin, she was sent overseas in the Air Force and she ate a sea urchin. Yasmin girl, I don't even. Know what to tell you about that. Not at all. I know it's a delicacy in certain places, but mm-mm. Bridget says scrapple, which is a Philly food that they like to eat there. Mark says tripe. All right, don't look up tripe. If you have a weak stomach, don't look it up. But in the Latin community, we do lots of sopas, big soup bowls with everything in it. Like everything. We throw the kitchen sink in that. And tripe happens to be one of them, so I grew up with that. So, Mark, I got you. Tom, you and I are gonna have to talk. Call you Tommy. You and I are gonna have to talk. He put down tuna fish and peanut butter. He never told me this before. I don't know if it's a firefighter food. Have to ask him about that. Saw him in the hallways the other day, and I will catch up to him again and ask him, what's with the tuna fish and the peanut butter? Serious? Together? No. I don't know if that's like a protein or just no thanks. That's all you, Tom. Karen says frog legs because they taste like chicken. So I've heard frog legs taste like chicken and gator tail taste like chicken. I've had gator tail before. It was a little gamey. Had that like fishy taste. So it wasn't my thing. but if it tastes like chicken, why not just eat chicken? It's like you're wasting the food. I know people love it, it's a delicacy. I ate snails once. That's why it was once. Yeah, that was a little grainy. Had that back taste. You can see my face. If you don't, you can watch the video. Not my thing. Like I said, if it tastes like chicken, you might as well just eat chicken. So big shout-outs. Thank you guys for responding to that. So back to our topic. What is your go-to grilling dish? My sister can make the best chicken on the grill. And she chars it and it's juicy. I don't even know what she marinates. She said she doesn't. I think she's lying. I think she marinates it like overnight because it's perfect. steaks are awesome. My mom's always like, I like steaks. I want my steaks. So I think we'll stay make steaks for her this weekend. Burgers are good. My husband loves burgers, like thick, nice, juicy burgers with grilled onions on top. I like those, what is it called? Black and blue burgers. Is that the one with the blue cheese crumbles? And then you put like the barbecue sauce and you bite into it. Mmm. Those burgers are like the best. hot dogs all the way. I'm a hot dog eating girl. I like it on the grill. A little chard. So that way, you know, you get that crunch, you know, like Nathan's is really good. Boarshead hot dogs are amazing. I just can't afford them. They're just too expensive. But they have that snap when you bite into it. it's making me hungry. Maybe that's what we'll have for dinner tonight. Probably not. Trying to eat healthy, but gotta love hot dogs. So we want to know from you. post it on this video below. We want to know exactly what you're eating this weekend. And this is facts from Finance Buzz. The first Labor Day parade involved 10,000 striking workers in New York City. More on the survey. More than half of Americans surveyed said that they planned to travel over this Labor Day weekend. Most popular, heading to the beach. So if you're heading to the beach here in Brevard County, welcome. You know. Spend all the money that you want here because we've got great restaurants, great people, great, great places to shop. everything's wonderful. Like plus, we have 72 miles of beach. So it's not like you have to go to one place. You can spread it out. I grew up in Melbourne Beach. I my favorite spot. And that was before the Publix was there. That's how long ago I was in Melbourne Beach. But I loved Melbourne Beach. Even though nothing was out there, it was just it's it's back going back to like not untouched beaches. So you got Melbourne Beach. we got Fifth Avenue, you can go to Satellite Beach, Cocoa Beach, anything in between Indian Harbor Beach, Cape Canaveral. now that I live over here on Merritt Islands, I love going over 528 and heading to Cherie Down Park. Shh, don't tell anybody, but I think I did. It's a little hidden treasure there. And then you go in the morning and you could see the jetty, jetty park over there, you know, everyone fishing, the boats going in and out. It's just a perfect, it's a great walk too to the The Jetty Park and back. That's a really good one. And it's beautiful, it really is. So welcome to our beaches. Make sure you wear sunscreen and stay hydrated because you never know how it's going to be this weekend. And if you are traveling to our beaches here, the worst times to travel. And this is for anything if you're heading out of town. today being Thursday, September 3rd. It's my birthday too. I forgot to say that earlier, didn't I? So if you're traveling today, 2 to 7 p.m., this is the worst time to travel. Friday, tomorrow, September 4th, from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 5th. From 1 to 5. And if you're coming back from Labor Day weekend, Monday, September 7th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., worst times to travel. And if you are eating hot dogs, you're not the only one. This is a really cool thing on the survey. Americans eat 818 hot dogs per second between the Memorial Day and Labor Day holiday weekends. And did you know Los Angeles eats more hot dogs than any other city? Never knew that. Little known facts you could take to your barbecue. And most of us will hit a barbecue or cookout for this holiday weekend, grilling burgers, hot dogs, pulled chicken. That's on the list. And they also added this to the top of the list. Loaded nachos. Never thought about that for Labor Weekend. steaks and pasta salad. So if you're looking for something to make, there's your list right there. Coming up next, local events for this weekend. If you're on a budget like most of us and want to do something around town with the kids because it's free, because I tell this to the nieces and nephews. If it's free, it's for me. You can take that quote All right, let's talk about our local events this weekend. Tomorrow, September 4th, you can head over to Wickham Park for the first Friday. That's from five to nine o'clock, rain or shine. They're gonna have live music, food trucks, a free movie in the park. The movie is The Day the Earth Blew Up. Nothing says Labor Day weekend in that movie. It must be a good one because they're going to be playing it. But here's what's weird. That same movie is going to be played over here at Kiwanis Park on Merritt Island. And that's also going to be tomorrow, September 4th, from 7:30 to 9:30. It's a free movie in the park. And you can bring your snacks, your lawn chairs, your blankets, your kids, your family. It'll be a fun time. And then on Saturday, September 5th, if you want to go. shopping down to Cocoa Village. This is the perfect time to do it. They have Saturday art market. So, you know, arts and crafts. The shops will be open. It'll be a great weekend and shopping on Saturday. And that starts at 10 a.m. free admission. And then Monday, Labor Day, September 7th, Port St. John Library is going to be having a family movie night from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. They're going to playing a variety of movies for the kids. Number 12 in Florida. Number 94 in the nation. Satellite high school. Go Scorps. Number 95 in Florida. Viera High School. Let's see. number 122 in Florida. And Cocoa Beach Junior Senior High School, number 123 in Florida. That's amazing. That's great. I mean, that it's national rankings here in Florida and around the nation. Congratulations to all Brevard Public School, high schools that made the list. And the ones that didn't. Something to work forward to. Wonderful. All right.
