- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop my friends.
- 0:31So today we have a quote from Marcus Aurelius.
- 0:35Very little is needed to make a happy life.
- 0:38It all lies within yourself in your way of thinking.
- 0:41Which isn't that amazing that something from so long ago is
- 0:46still so prevalent today. Why is it prevalent today?
- 0:50Because we consistently search outside of ourselves for things,
- 0:54happiness, connection. Whatever it might be, it's
- 0:59searching outside of yourself. And quite frankly, happiness
- 1:03comes from within as much as connection comes from within.
- 1:08I am more and more attuned, is the best word to say in this
- 1:14case to the fact that I am always connected to something
- 1:18else. And if I'm not connected to
- 1:19something else, then that's where I falter.
- 1:23I had a discussion with my. Chiropractor the other day about
- 1:27the fact that he said how how do you not get burnt out doing the
- 1:32number of sessions that you do. Because I know I can only do so
- 1:35many sessions and then I'm spent.
- 1:39And I said, well, the truth is, and I do believe this 1000% that
- 1:46you get what you focus on and I know I'm not doing it by myself
- 1:51because I truly believe that if. God in the universe gave me a
- 1:54skill set, gave me something that they wanted me to be able
- 1:57to do. They wouldn't give it to me.
- 1:59And then set me up for failure. And he started laughing and he
- 2:02said, wow, that's an interesting belief.
- 2:04And I said no, I mean, why would they do that?
- 2:06That doesn't make any sense, just silliness.
- 2:09So I believe that I have everything that I need and I can
- 2:12always. You know, tap into it.
- 2:15I can always pull from it. I can always add to it.
- 2:17I can always do those things without question.
- 2:19I don't have to worry about that.
- 2:21It's it's a done deal. I just have to remember that
- 2:25it's part of me. It's not separate from me, it's
- 2:27part of me. So that comes from within.
- 2:30That doesn't come from without. I don't plug in.
- 2:32It's not like when I charge my iPhone at night, like last night
- 2:34I'm watching my iPad. Sadly, the tat last episode of
- 2:37Ted Lasso Boohoo. But I'm watching it and it says
- 2:4110% remaining. So I'm like, OK, I gotta go plug
- 2:45that in. It's interesting because as a
- 2:47human, I'm never unplugged. I'm always plugged in.
- 2:50I just have to remember that that piece of it, that's how the
- 2:53charger works. So when you think about what
- 2:58Marcus Aurelius was so brilliant to point out so long ago.
- 3:05Which I believe though that they had so much more time to
- 3:07contemplate and they were so much more attuned to that part
- 3:11of life and humanity because they had so much more time to
- 3:14think about it and they didn't have the distractions that we
- 3:17have. But he's so attunedly put that,
- 3:22you know, it is within your way of thinking.
- 3:27I mean, there's no other question.
- 3:28It is what you think about that helps you or hurts you.
- 3:31It is what you focus on that helps you or hurts you.
- 3:34It is what your preponderance of thoughts are in the you know,
- 3:39101,440 minutes that you have in a day to do what?
- 3:44What are you giving those minutes to?
- 3:46What are you putting that into? Are you putting it into what you
- 3:49want, or are you putting it into?
- 3:52You know that part of yourself that you want to develop to be
- 3:55happy and happiness is a skill that you choose.
- 4:01So I've often said I I can have moments.
- 4:05I can have lots of moments where I have something that's thrown
- 4:07me off, whether I'm upset, angry, sad, whatever it might
- 4:10be. But at the core, underneath it
- 4:12all, I'm happy. So I think of myself as I as a I
- 4:16might be sitting on the bottom of the ocean and there's a
- 4:18hurricane on the top of the ocean, but underneath I'm happy.
- 4:21I'm just sitting there and I'm hanging out and I'm happy.
- 4:24And all those other things are just up there.
- 4:26But I'm still connected. I'm still happy.
- 4:29And when we start to focus our attention, dive in and tune into
- 4:35that belief and that piece, everything changes.
- 4:39And it can't not change. See, that's the funny part.
- 4:41It can't not change. It has to change because you're
- 4:44changing your energy and therefore everything around you
- 4:46is changing. So when you don't change your
- 4:48energy, nothing changes, but when you change your energy,
- 4:51everything changes. So it's a.
- 4:54It's a measure. Of being able to shift that
- 4:57part. It's a measure of being able to
- 4:59say, hey, I did I do better today than I did yesterday?
- 5:04Am I, am I tuning in better? Am I getting rid of those?
- 5:07The crackle in the in the wavelengths, Am I actually
- 5:11diving in? Am I during that dial, just
- 5:14little clicks at a time to make sure that I can get into it.
- 5:17And the answer is the more you do that, the better off you are.
- 5:21So. I'm going to challenge you to
- 5:24listen. Listen to the quote again.
- 5:25Very little. That's where it starts.
- 5:27Very little is needed to make a happy life.
- 5:30It all lies within yourself, in your way of thinking.
- 5:33Work on the way of thinking. Every day, every day, my
- 5:36friends, and something magic happens.
- 5:39All right. I hope you have a blessed day
- 5:41and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
