A climber’s final ascent ended in tragedy as Mallory Geis, 39, and her team of ten were caught in a deadly avalanche on Pakistan’s Broad Peak—the twelfth-highest mountain on Earth. Though experienced on other peaks, this was Geis’s first attempt at Broad Peak. Her remains were recovered Friday by local volunteers, making her the last member of the expedition to be found.
