• Did you update your audio hijack and or quick time recording to the latest version? Yes, I have quick time running and it's very reliable. It's counting seconds down or seconds up whatever and I updated audio hijack and it's spinning with zero seconds. But as I found out, I'm just gonna leave it there frozen and then maybe see an audio file at the end. So whatever. So crazy. Man. That's very reassuring. It is good, isn't it? Yeah. I'm glad it's happening to you and not me. It keeps things real on my end. You know, I like predictability, a bit of routine, but you know, I've learnt to live with the fact that the audio hijack app is beautiful as it is. It's not for you. You know, just has to make me wait. It might not be working. But it's good. It's good for it's character building. Well there's at least you can you can rest easy knowing that those files, wherever they may be on your computer, are being backed up somewhere by a little thing I like to call Time Machine. Have you heard of it? Have you guys heard of Time Machine? You know about that i know well i know andrew knows something he he's got three quarters of a drive sticking out of a toaster on his desk still right here it's it's a a time machine backup may occur during this recording. I'll let you know. I was gonna ask, you just leave that running while you're recording just so we can hear all that like gur girl. Yep. Yep. Yeah. Okay. All right. I should turn mine back on then I guess because I I had turned it off for the for the sake of the recording, but maybe I should do that, but nah. Although mine's in a case, so it's probably about a quarter of the loudness of your just bare drive. I'm gonna eject it. I'm just so hang on. Let me just eject. Careful, careful. Cause when you right click drives now, erase is right below eject. Isn't it? I've noticed that. And that is infuriating to me because I've That's not good. Also two words that start with E. Yeah. Wa c one of 'em, totally fine. One of 'em, potential catastrophe. Same number of letters too, right? So they even the width. I don't like it. Yeah. That's just I don't who don't do that. Stop that. But anyway, that was a tangent on my tangent on my tangent. So catastrophic failure. Have you guys ever experienced it? Because I did recently and I just wanted to tell you what happened, what not to do. Okay. Okay. Most importantly, there has to be a lesson. All catastrophes must have a lesson at the end. Like G.I. Joe. I'll start with the lesson. The lesson is don't use computers when you're tired. You thought I was gonna just stop at computers, which that may actually be the best thing to do is just stop using them entirely. But if you have to use them, don't do it when you're tired. Because what happens is you tend to make mistakes. We're human. We may not hallucinate as much as some other things, but we do make mistakes. And I was at my computer, it was the morning. I had co I even had coffee. So really there's no excuse here whatsoever. But I'll take the blame on this one. Um, I was waiting for the car person to come out and do a tire rotation on the car. So I was sitting here doing some stuff on my computer, cleaning up files, because you know, what else you are gonna do on a computer? You gotta clean up files. Especially that library folder. Get rid of that. Just just get rid of those files. There's so many files. Everything's files all the way down. It's just there's files and then turtles and then there's more files. So I was cleaning up files and I thought, hey, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna set up a cool little uh backup thing to mirror my most important folder on my entire computer, which is called my cloud. That's like my everything. Everything lives in this one folder. Think of it as like a like a my briefcase, you know, to for for Andrew to recall what's going on here. Business translation. Yeah. Yeah. So it's my briefcase and it's got everything. It's about a hundred and eighty gigs of just like my files, right? Documents, images, just things that I created. Not photos, but everything else. Well, I started duplicating it and I did the thing. Everybody does it. You go to do a carbon copy cloner, right? And you miss you you're you're one level too shallow to do the copy. So now they're all flooding into the root folder. You're like, oh God, what's going on? Stop. So I stop it and I start deleting all of the things that were copied in the wrong finder window. Oh my god. I deleted quote unquote my cloud 180 gigs gone. Oh, it's okay.' Its in the trash bin. No, it's not. Because I'm an obsessive freak. And the second something goes in the trash bin, my fingers hit the keyboard command to empty the trash almost immediately. It's like there shouldn't even be one. Because they might as well just throw them right in a black hole. So I do that. It's one of the worst stories I've ever heard so far. I do that, and I'm and I move on. And then I look in my dock and my folder that's normally my downloads folder is now one of those little hollow folders with a question mark in the middle. Yep. I think, well that's that's odd. How could that have happened? And I click on it and I say refind it or whatever. Yeah, it's gone. 180 gigs gone. But I say, you know what, I've got time machine. It's okay. So I go to Time Machine and Timechine Ma says, hey, I've got your backups from today. I was like, today? That thing's been running all year. Where are they? The drive won't mount. The time machine drive won't mount. So now I've catastrophically deleted all my files. Time machine won't mount. And I think at that point I was probably crying and thinking, now I'm done with computers. I'm officially never gonna use a computer again. I can't recover from this. Because every every backup plan I had had failed me one way or another. So long long story short, I do some some some wiggling of the drive and I get it back up. I get the time machine drive back up. I quickly copy over 180 gigs from like the day before, so I lost like a day's worth of stuff. Whatever. It's fine. Better than everything in your life. And I get it all back and immediately make like 42 more copies of it across everywhere I can think of. I don't care. I don't care where it's gonna be. It's on floppy disks, it's on DVDs, it's on Blu-rays. Just get it out there. It's on Yoto, I hear it's on Yo I've got Yoto mini cards. It took a hundred and eighty-six thousand Yoto mini cards, but we got it done. Big shipment there. So I'm back. I may have lost a few things. It's okay. But wow, Time Machine quite literally saved my ass so hard. So I immediately upgraded my time machine to a 10TB drive that is running constantly. And I have a real carbon copy cloner of all that stuff backing up off site now. So it was there was probably twenty minutes there where I don't think I've ever felt so helpless when it comes to computers. I thought I just didn't know what to do. I was like, my literally my life uh in digital form is just gone. That's insane. I think it's an easy mistake to make, particularly if you have the two finder windows open, because you reminded me, this is nothing like what you just told us but I've been doing video editing for work and sometimes I have to duplicate a final cut pro project to do like a vertical version or maybe something with burnt in captions and you just want to keep it compartmentalized from the first and because maybe the highlighted state or the active state isn't obvious or you move away for a second, suddenly you start applying changes to the wrong thing. That's happened to me so many times. But that's just a few command Z actions, right? You what you're describing is gut-wrenching. Oh, it was it really I felt really, really bad. And also just really, really stupid. Because I'm supposed to be I'm like supposed to be the one knowing what I'm doing and I just deleted my entire life. Like what? What are you doing? Clearly your system is not working. So that's been revamped, and now now we could have computers catch on fire and I won't be worried. Wow. So yeah, that's it. Don't use computers when you're tired. Or just don't use computers. And um go and and you know do that thing you're supposed to do that we never actually do where you make the backup and then you you check it and see if it's actually there. Turns out that's important. I'm so excited for my toaster. It is actually good to check that these things work, right? That the process actually operates. Yeah. Yeah. So there you go. Time machine. Love it. It's great. I got a new drive going now and we are never leaving it behind. The only thing they have to do to improve it is to bring the stars back. Yes. Remember the galaxies. That was cool. I miss that. I yeah, I would have to say that the interface now of going back in time is like the whimsy is really important because chances are when you're using Time Machine, you're in crisis. Like you're not just in there kicking around files for fun. Like, oh, let's go look at what this was three weeks. No, this is like things are bad, and I really need something. Give me a little galaxy, give me a little little fun. Yeah. You know, that was a good one. And the whimsy was actually practical. Yeah. It was useful because that motion, that signifying of going back into time, totally. Gave you the impression that you were going back through finder windows. Now it's just like a stack of I mean, yeah, we get what it means, but that motion showed that you were going to go back and restore something. So I think the style of I feel like it came up really cool too, didn't it like when it went into that mode. It wasn't just some uh pop up overlay thing. Yeah. Anywho. It's all right. John John'll fix it. He'll get it back in there. I think that's like top priority for him, probably. Oh, he's good. He's fixing everything. That guy. Yeah, it's all I think it's already fixed. That's what I heard. Yep. Yeah, well. Yeah. Sweet. Yeah. Well, not yet. He's fixed the radius of the windows. Day one, everything fixed. Day two, profit. Now we have a new One Prime Plus member, I see. We do. One PrimePlus.com. Pow. I must say.net.net. It's it. Does that mean you have to buy the domain now? I am not buying any more domains. I can't. There's just too many. I think my account is full. Daniel, your your one prime plus money is just funding another domain name we don't need. Thank you. Daniel N is the new one prime plus member from Southern Hemisphere. So there you go. You get another one on the board for for Big South. Wow that and as is tradition, Andrew. Do you have anything that you'd like to say to insult Daniel? Yes, so Daniel Daniel N. It's a good name. But I think given that you've supported the Southern Hemisphere, I think your name's actually wrong. I think it should not be Daniel N for North. It should be Daniel S for South. Okay. So look, we thank you, but we're actually going to change your name. Daniel S, thank you for your contribution to One Prime Plus. When you said that he was actually in the Southern Hemisphere, I thought you were going to turn his name upside down so that his name became N Lennad. And let that wow. Yeah, I see what you're saying. We could make that work. Yeah, it's pretty insightful, isn't it? Yeah, it's good. It's great. It's pro it's profound, actually. And also I will say, I hope people enjoyed the show that just came out into your one prime plus feed recently where, you know, things get a bit things get a bit nerdier sometimes on the One Prime Plus member specials when we put them out occasionally. And recently I went traveling for work and had to deal with the ramifications of how I've chosen to compute in my workplace. So I essentially had to come up with what Andrew beautifully described as a deconstructed laptop. So I hope members enjoyed that. If you haven't signed up to One Prime Plus, sign up if you want to hear some more ridiculousness that uh didn't make into this regular show. Yeah, and seeing as now we apparently have an explicit tag on Apple Podcasts, I'm gonna say your deconstructed laptop batshit crazy. Yeah. Yeah, it is a bit weird. Anyway, thanks to all our supporters for keeping this show humming along and hope you enjoyed it. Thank you. You know on food shows when they say, Oh, I've made a deconstructed whatever, that never means that it's the right way to go. Oh, I kind of feel like it is this time. Hail Mary. Anyway, we're getting into the topic. Well, thank you, Daniel. And welcome email is on the way. If it should be there already, I hope. I don't know. We'll see if the pigeons are flying that way currently, or if they're flying the other way, depends. Migration is weird. And then also he is in the forum, which is a chat.hemisphericviews.com. For anybody that doesn't know about it already, get in there and join today or tomorrow. The flar the flareum forum. Flarum forum. Ray's like, what did they just say? What was that? Yeah, I was I had to think about it for a moment. Then I worked it out. I have an announcement if I could. Can I announce? Of course. Do I have the floor? You have the floor. I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to someone we like to fondly refer to as Dr. Martin. Dr. Martin is now complete with his uh with his school project we'll call it school he's been collaging paper machine I'm cringing that you've given me that title when I haven't officially gained it yet. It's got this construction paper. It's all done. It's hanging on the fridge soon. It's not on the fridge yet, but it will be hanging on the fridge soon. Um but seriously, congratulations to Martin. He's been doing this thing for I think like twenty four years now. It's been his whole life. He started he started in Uterory. He started working on they're like, you know what? We think he's going places. Let's get him kicked into a PhD program right now. Let's just start it now. And uh 24 years later he has completed it. So congratulations Martin um who can now officially only wear Doc Martin shoes. That's it. It's the only kind of shoes you can wear going forward. During the podcast, especially, yeah. Especially, yeah. So congratulations, Martin. It'll hurt for the first few months, and then after that, you won't want to take them off. But look, thank you very much, Jason. Thank you, Andrew. And if people are listening going, what on earth are they talking about? Uh seven years ago I started a part-time PhD research project. Yeah. Seven multiplied by something twenty-four, older than I am, because you think I'm like 12 something something in utero. Anyway I started a started a PhD research project on podcasting and RSS and basically what it means as you could say a challenge to, resistance to, an antidote to, big closed platform capitalists or platform technology. Think streaming, not just podcasting with things like Spotify and YouTube, but the Netflixes of the world or anything that closes something down. So it was about looking at the Apple centric fan community and what it does as creative practice to fuel this thing. And when I started, I had no idea that it would flourish into this I don't know having two great friends who we've done the podcast together for like what six years now? Which six years podcast. What are you talking about? Oh okay, cool. And then also doing like a practical research one that fueled the project, which was really specific stories, being able to do it through work. It's just been this great way of making friends, building skills at work, meeting all these listeners, and it's been awesome and I'm really thankful. And I'm not Doc Martin yet. There's still a whole review process for months and who knows they might actually say, look, Martin, this is great. You did a lot of podcasting, but this paper's actually a bit we've reviewed it. We we've reviewed it. We're happy. I'm good I already I've I assigned it off already. It's good. Okay, perfect. Thank you. Well any anyway, people don't have to listen to it now. I think a lot of listeners here have already engaged with it. But uh it was at www.rsspod.net. I would love to do more episodes in future, but it was just uh impossible to juggle with all other elements of life and actually writing the paper. So it exists in a kind of archival oral interview hibernation, pointing to the thesis that I've written and then back, but it would be great to continue it in future, but thanks for the recognition guys. I was just gonna say if people wanted to hear what it your program was actually about, like not from you, because you don't really understand what it is, where could they maybe hear from people that are really in the know about what it is you've been working on? Well, I'm glad you brought this up because my darling wife, Natasha, came up with her own podcast, completely surprised me, which she called really special stories, and got Mac our son to draw his own impression of the artwork with orange. And she's walking in now actually. She did this great job cold calling family members, friends, and you guys, and did these two episodes to discuss what they really think or ultimately as you said what they really know the project to be about. So if you go to uh it's hosted on RSS.com, it's Really Special Stories by Natasha Kendillisfeld. It was this wonderful surprise and she went to a lot of effort. And if you don't mind, she's actually gonna take the floor now. Because I think she has her own stuff that she wants to discuss flowing from this. Perfect. I mean when it comes to PhDs, the people that know the most about it are the friends and family who have to endure hearing about it for years and years, right? Oh, yeah. Indeed. Indeed. Very nerve wracking. Okay. There are the notes. Hello. That's after that. Okay. Alright, have fun. Bye. Hello. Do I we don't do I have to I you have I don't know what I'm doing. Just talking. Well, can I lower this 'cause my feet aren't touching the floor. I feel like a kid. This is gold already. You do it, I can't reach it. There we go. I can't even see myself this is not bought on the computer. Why does he do this? This is like I'm about to rip these earphones out of my ears. Anyway. Hello. Hi. It's uh it's you're now the expert podcaster because you have uh released one into the wild. So well done. Yeah. Look, independent podcast, creator, producer, you know, all of it. Yeah. I've said to Martin, I've he did it for what, like the PhD for seven years, and I was like, one afternoon, tick the box done, move on. Thirty minutes, it's all I needed. That's the power of a woman versus a man right there. That's That is the Martin way though, right? It's like a thirty minute task and he's gonna do it for seven years. Yeah, figures. Look, when he does something, he does it well. I I do have to give him credit where credit's due. But this podcast kind of came to me when I was I had dropped the kids off to my mother-in-law, to Martin's mum's house, to Tanya's place and I was driving to do some groceries and I was like wouldn't it be funny if I made a podcast so that was at about mid and so we were out of the house because Martin was frantically trying to finish this thing for submission. I started at midday, like on a Sunday midday, and I finished it just after midnight. Perfect. So in twelve hours I had called fourteen people. I don't think I've called fourteen people this entire year. So that is incredible. And they all answered the phone. Wow. I couldn't believe it. A lot of people were confused. They were like, is everything okay? And I was like, yeah, I'm just gonna record this phone call. Um I don't know if you've ever recorded a phone call. I don't know how to do that. No. On an iPhone, once you call someone in the top left hand corner, there's a record button, like the really top left hand corner. And then it counts down and it goes, This phone call is being recorded. It's recording. And it saves it in your notes app and transcribes it and everything. Okay. Top it's this is a tech show. You're the podcaster. We don't actually know things. Fair. So I had to work it out. I had to find a website to host this thing, all without asking Martin because I was like, then he'll know I'm I'm just Yeah. That would be very suspicious if all of a sudden you're like, so like what if a w how would somebody even make a podcast? Like, just what if they were going to? And he's like, hmm, that's weird. Well the funny thing is because he's been doing it with you guys for so long that I just hear all about it. So every time you change like a a host or like a hosting platform or w everything I was like, ah yes and, I know he edits on Ferrite, so I was on my Mac and I was like go because we're in family sharing, I was like going through all of his purchases so I could and I was like, oh this mustn't be a Mac.ab I was like, damn the iPad. Yep. Oh so I I do listen. So I I was able to do it without any of his help. That's incredible. Um I was quite impressed with myself. You should be. So what where did you edit it in then? Garage Bands. Perfect. Do not recommend. I'm still in so much pain from like just constantly trying to edit it on my laptop or my Mac or my MacBook. But I was trying to use h like earphones like these, like plug-in ones, but they've changed the audio jack now, so I don't think it's like normal normal in ear headphones won't plug into the audio jack. Oh doesn't have a three and a half inch plug. Yeah, it's too those uh like three and a half inch like normal ones are too wide. Oh weird. So it doesn't actually go in. And then Martin had given me some oh I don't know, like rip-off airpods. That'd be right. And I couldn't figure out how to connect them and he' stsill frantically it',s like midnight, and he's still frantically trying to cut down his PhD, and I couldn't figure out how to pair them to my laptop. So then I on like through like a level three of volume in my laptop, I'm like leaning over, like trying to like listen to the audio. It's amazing. So it's um it turned out quite well considering it was a very amateur production. It was great. Was it your piano or organ or whatever that instrument was? It is a um a kid's guitar that Martin Martin's sister is a musician. She is very talented and can play lots of instruments. But we ultimately decided to pick up Max toy guitar at her place. It's like an electric thing. Well we'll link to it because it's actually a very cool toy. There you go. Put it in the show notes. She's pretty look at this pro over here. Look neat. It'll be in the show notes. Wow. We tried a few different instruments. So we we originally tried an instrument called a hue drum, which is like this very kind of what you would want played to you if you're having a massage. Hmm. Oh. Okay. But it was very echoey and it just didn't right. So then we picked up the toy guitar and that had a nice little ring to it. And then for the cover art I got I showed Mac the picture of like the RSS yeah yeah logo and um that was his little sketch that he drew on my phone a markup of a like I took I took a photo of the desk essentially like so it was all black I had my phone on the table so I just took an all black photo and hit markup with an orange the orange pen and he just like screwed so much creativity and then I did the like nailed it. Yeah, I I was like in such a rush. I'm I'm looking at it right now and it's a it's it looks exactly the same. It's perfect. But yeah he I think he did a very cute job, but it's yeah, I was very happy with how it turned out. How the whole thing turned out. I love it. But do not recommend ever editing anything in Garage Band. I wouldn't even trust it for music. I I don't recommend editing anything ever. Yeah, well it's the worst job in the world. Yes it is. Yes it is. So I um but thank you both for for um submitting your audio to make episode two which was not supposed to happen. Thank you for including Spoiler alert. You're welcome. There actually will be an episode three. Oh. Because I have to have V Martinfeld on the podcast so he can so to round it out so he can actually explain Make sure you introduce him as friend of the show. I will. I'll I'll take all oh no mate, don't say it on this recording because he's gonna edit it and he'll hear it. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Just just send me an I message. So this is not even why you're here to talk to us, right? You've you've you're bringing something else to the table. I am bringing something else to the table and this is unfortunately an Australian only thing because I think the last time I brought something to the podcast was Arcadia. Oh yeah. Um and we never really did anything with that so what a bust. No, nothing ever happened. No one no one hates Eric. Yes. Um so I have been playing a game called Payphone Tag. Payphone Tag? Okay. Do you still have payphones in America? Very rarely, but sometimes. I feel like they're either just ripped out or they've been converted into like weird like Wi-Fi or something. I don't fully understand what they're for, but not not not a ton, no. Yeah, okay. So in Australia our payphones in twenty twenty one they're run by a telco called Telstra. Um and they made all of our payphones free. So you can make free phone calls around Australia. Which is very cool. Oh that's cool. Like can you go like it like from anywhere to anywhere in the whole country or is it like like local? Oh wow that's cool. And then each payphone has its own individual number so people if you can actually call a payphone. Oh, that's amazing. So you could just always use payphones. Oh, I love that. That's cool. We did as a side note, we used to have, and I'm sure you had something similar in the US, we had something called 1-800 Reverse. I remember that. What's that? So you would you would dial one eight hundred reverse and it was like a reverse charge phone call? Oh sure. Okay, yeah. So like that's I feel like what a lot of payphones were used for previously, so you d wouldn't have to pay 'cause anything that started with the one eight hundred was a free call. Yeah. But that was a cool way to get someone to to call you back. But no, you can actually call a payphone. They each have an in like an identifier and a phone number, which is very cool. I only want to record this from payphones now. It's very cool. So um a very clever Australian developer, in an independent developer named Alex has created a game called Payphone Tag, which utilizes Australia's network of thousands of payphones. When you sign up on the payphone tag website. It'll be in the notes. You ran get a random generated pin and a username and an emoji that is assigned to you so you can like regenerate one if you don't like what you've been given like you can kind of hit refresh but you do just randomly get given an emoji a username and a pin and essentially you then just rock up to any payphone in Australia, um, dial the number 07 load talk. The prerecorded message on the other end asks for your password or your PIN, so you type in your individual five-digit PIN and you capture the phone, essentially. This is the best thing ever. Thank you. Someone, one of the other co-hosts of this podcast, is not motivated to play or very interested. This is all that's why I had to come on because I knew you would love me. This is all I would do ever is this. I would drive around the whole damn country just getting payphones. It's very fun. We also have a very small population, so you could dominate it very easily. What is your call sign slash uh agent ID or what who are you? My agent ID is Vault Spear. Whoa. Damn, you got a cool name. It's like an undercover agent. Are you allowed to say it? Or is it your pin that you keep secret? Pin you keep secret. Ah, okay, okay, right. Why is this not loading for me? What's happening? So last night we were at the opera house uh for a show, so I claimed ten payphones because City is just loaded with payphones. I actually claimed one at the opera house, which was very cool. So cool. And then nine others around Circular Key. Um the other very cool thing is if you capture the three closest payphones to each other, it forms a triangle and you kind of like own that land in that triangle. This is the best. D I know There's a guy near me that seems to I say guy, it could be a girl who's stolen taken a bunch of payphones I'm coming for them you go for it Andrew Oh this is this is just terrible I can't do anything about this except for come to Australia. Should I let make my username hemispheric views? Oh my god. You can't choose your username. Oh. Randomly generated. Okay. This is so cool. And you can't choose your emoji. Like that it's just given to you. Okay. I can't I'm I don't know if it's just because this is maybe hosted there, but for some I keep trying to search for you and it's like failing me entirely. But uh why is it not work? Ah I just want to see your little thing anyway. This is so cool. I'm gonna play this. It is very cool. I have I claimed 10 last night and four have already been stolen. Oh jeez. So I still have six currently in Sydney. And how do you keep how do you get notified somehow if it's been stolen or do you have to just kind of look at it? Yeah, you do get you do get notifications, so I'm just looking on my phone now. This is incredible. Um I got alerted. So the I got quite a h because you rise in a like in a rank on the leaderboard. So I got as high as 881. I've never been that highly ranked before. But I've already dropped down to one thousand one hundred and seventy-seven because people have started stealing them back. Wow. How did you find out about this? How did I find out about it? I'm looking at Rolling Gong now. Not to dox you, but I think everyone knows where you are. Yeah. Only the best town in Australia. What's your what's your emoji? Maybe I can find you on the map with that. Oh, it's like a about. The rest of the show is canceled. This is it. All I care about is that's all right. This is it. We get the run sheet. It's oh it's are you like a little like a like a little uh like a lifesaver? I don't have I don't think I have any in Wollongong at the moment. Oh, okay. Well you better get on that. So you can kind of look for see there's some big triangles just covering right now. You got some work to do. I think that is my it kind of looks like an Apple Magic Mouse. Oh where's the camera? Oh yeah, that's totally Yeah, you are literally a magic mouse. Okay. Oh yeah, Natasha, you got some work to do. There is some people are just taken over. So it doesn't help that my husband is a party pooper. Rogue shark. Who's this rogue shark? I'm gonna call them. I don't know. I've got it. I don't know who any of these people are. We actually have one maybe like a hundred meters down the road from our house. Not even. So every time I walk past, but not only is Martin a party pooper, but Mac is so like, oh, you're playing again. What oh Rogue Shark's even got photos of some of some of the payphones. Yeah, Rogue Shark, we're coming for you, first of all. Oh. They got a little scientist emoji, which is cool. That's what I'm looking at right now. Yeah. But to get back to your question about how I found out about it, I think I s saw it. It was like an easy one. She's putting me back on track. Yeah. No, I'm just trying to think. I think it was an Instagram reel, like someone made a reel about it and maybe even tagged Telstra because Telstra has posted on their socials about it and they've got quite a good explanation on their website as well, but it's very cool. So they're endorsing it. That's good. That's good. Yeah, they're like, we don't own this. I would have been a little worried they'd be like, no, this is like against some terms of service or some crap. It's like, no, it's fun. Leave us alone and shut up. Yeah, well, they've fully embraced it because I think they really want people using this free service that they're providing, but also getting people used to using payphones, and they want people to start remembering phone numbers like when mobile networks have gone down in the past and you know natural disasters all those kinds of things like the payphones have been this you know like beacon of hope almost that you can still contact people so they like anything that promotes the the payphone, they're all for it. Cool. I was already excited that you were gonna tell us about a game and now the fact that it's a physical in person go actually do a thing game. Yes. Incredible. It's incredible. There was a game called, I think it was it called Ingress, I want to say, many, many years ago. But it was like a mobile-based thing. But you would kind of do the same thing where you'd have to go to places and like capture them. Yeah. And you'd sort of try to amass it. It's like that, like the phone thing, but this is way cooler because it's like infrastructure. So I'm yeah, payphone Pokemon Payphone is what this is. This is great. Yeah. And it's just for fun. Like it's not you don't have to sign up with an email address or a phone number. Like it does it's just purely for the fun of it. No, this is cool. I'm gonna reclaim a phone after this after this show. I'm out there. I'm there's a phone just around the corner. Out there. And it I feel like it makes you more aware of where your payphones are. Yeah. Like it w of of your surroundings. The guy who claims to think the Matrix is the best thing ever, that solely relies on a payphone to do things, doesn't think this is the coolest thing in the entire world. That was my initial thought to Don't Don't even get me started. To his defense. If he was playing as well if Martin was playing as well, we wouldn't he we would just be stealing phones from each other. That's still fun. I would still do that. I would steal all of Andrew's phones all the time. I know you would. You'd head out in the middle of the night. I'd wake up in the morning and be like I am out there. Stealing the phones go. Well maybe Martin is Rogue Falcon or Plot twist. Oh wait, it was a little scientist, which could be a doctor. Mmm. Huh? Could be a red string wall. It's coming together. There you go. The person who I'm currently in competition with is Frost Marlin. Marlin? Martin? I don't know. Sounds pretty similar. I don't know. They've claimed the two closest to our house, so where do you think he is right now? The second he walked out of the room, he was out there stealing phones. He's sitting on the floor. He just booked it out the door. I'll be right back. Making calls. But anyway, that's payphone tag. The other thing that I thought when I was coming on to talk about it, and I had to like remind myself a few of the details. The other cool thing about the payphones and Telstra is that around Christmas time you can dial the number hashtag 464646 which is ho ho ho and it's um like an automated thing where kids can call Santa. So it's like oh that's cute. Hello, this is the North Pole. What is your name? Ho ho ho and you like talk to Santa, which is really like an Australian Santa or no? I I think so. Does he say like ho ho ho mate or something like that? I really can't. But when it comes back in November, I'll let you know. Perfect. Call it from the payphone. Uh yes. Well no, you can only do it from the payphone. It doesn't work from a normal phone. See? It only works from the payphones. All right, everyone, this is an announcement. Get rid of your stupid cell phones. They're dumb. They're old. It's old news. Payphones. Everybody get a payphone and we'll all call each other. I'm gonna ride my bike around just claiming payphones now. Totally. It's like the eighties. Yeah. I mean I wasn't there, but I imagine that's what the eighties were like. Uh sadly I was. Yeah and you know what? You're not far from the truth. I can't say thank you enough for this gem. Um I thank you. I'm glad someone in this room appreciates it. The pe and the person that appreciates it the most can't even do it. That's the worst part, you know? But I guess I have something to look forward to now. You do. When you come to Australia you can claim all the Sydney is like all the capital cities are chock a block with payphones. So cool. Like there's one on every block. Just task list is getting so long. He's gotta come to Australia. He's gotta he's gotta do the payphones. He's gotta set up my Ethernet network. Oh no, everything else is cancelled. If it doesn't involve a payphone, not interested anymore. Sorry. Like I said, there one's just down the road from us, so you're welcome to use that. On your on your way to fix Martin's woes. Perfect. Holy crap. Well thank you, Natasha. Much appreciated. This is incredible and beyond my wildest dreams. I think yeah, this is the show. We don't you don't know. I feel like we When's the last time he brought f phone pay tag uh pay phone tag to the party. Never. He has brought nothing fun to the party for a long time. He's slowly he's slowly backing out of the room with his piccolo. Say yeah, thanks for having me. Enjoy your new car host No, I don't want to edit it. I definitely don't have shoulder I still have shoulder pain from the last thing. Garage pain. I know I'm I'm like looking forward to recording that third and final episode, but I'm dreading the garage band editing. No, so what you do is you say, hey, I edited these other ones in garage band, but you guys are always talking about that, is it Pharaoh or f something with an F? Maybe could you just toss this in there and kind of show me how you would do it with that one? He'll do the whole thing. Export it. Done. It'll sound too polished. Oh, yeah. He's kind of a yeah, he would make it. I'm trying to go for that like you know, rough round the edge. Okay, that's fair. Like fun vibe. I mean, not this is fun and Martin does a great job editing, but you know. I like a bit of slapping together on garage band. That's fair. Okay. Did you I have a gripe with GarageBand actually? Oh. We can fix that. Did you know you can't open two projects at once? Don't think so. I think it's I think it's a single It's one at a time. I think so. It's so rude. I know. It's like Yeah. Yeah. Numbers you can open two spreadsheets. I wouldn't know. The the core critical example he goes to numbers. You can open multiple spreadsheets and have pivot tables. I don't know why GarageBand isn't it. But Garrett, like you can't have two projects open because I'd clipped the theme song in Garage Bin but hadn't saved it as the clipped file, so I just wanted to copy and paste it over. But I had to copy it and then it would close that instance of Garage Bend and open my new project. Perfect. Like I couldn't just flick between them. Yeah, that's annoying. So frustrating. But anyway. That that's my grip with Garage Bend if any of you uh wanna take that higher. Tim, I had I had like my list of things to complain to Tim Cook about were scheduled messages. Oh yeah, new list for the new guy. Tim did the scheduled messages for me and, I think I've only used it once in my life. Like Martin heard me complain about it for years, and I've only used it once. Yeah. I still don't get the point of it, but I'm glad that it exists. It works for that. Yeah. I normally think to message people at one o'clock in the morning so it's good for those instances. No, you just send it. The the contract you signed up for when you uh when you put a cell phone in your life is that it's up to you to determine when things come in or not. That's true. And most people do have do not disturb on. That is very true. And if they don't, you've just taught them a lesson of how to turn on do not disturb. There you go. Get them. Anyway, thanks for having me on. I'll hand you back to All right. I will call you on a payphone soon. Regular boring Martin. Thank you. I look forward to it. Hi Natasha. Thank you. See you later. Here you go. This guy has to listen to all this edit it. Back to regular boring programming. Thanks for having me on the shop today. All right, we can get back to talking about lame stuff now. We're done. There's nothing more we need to add. Are we actually are we actually done? Yeah, we're done. Yeah. Is that it? Yeah, I'm taking we gotta um Oh, okay if you wanna end now we can end now that really sends the biggest message you don't need me anymore I think it's great I don't know what else we got once you peek what's the point I'd actually want to go out and capture a pay fan perfectly honest god it's so cool. She would destroy me. Like I'd be like, Oh, this is a fun game. And it'd just be like, I will destroy you, Martinfeld, and I will have my phone empire. So I'm actually not doing it out of my own like self-defense. Okay. She's very competitive. It's so cool. I'm happy with my emoji. I'm happy with my new username. What's your what is it? Share it. Shall I share it? Yeah. So my emoji is a is a yawning guy? Okay, that checks out for this morning. Yes, sure does. And my uh username is hyper probe. Wow. Hyper probe? Hyper probe. That's uh I like it. You know where you're sticking that thing, Andrew? Oh, we don't ask the too many questions. And he's yawning.
