  here. In our last episode, we heard the amazing

  story of how young Samuel learned to listen when

  God called his name in the night. Samuel answered,

  Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. What

  a beautiful way to show us how to listen to God's
• 0:30
  voice. Today, we'll continue Samuel's story and

  see how he grew into a prophet and leader, someone
• 0:38
  God used to guide his people. Are you ready?

  Let's jump in. Samuel didn't stay a little boy
• 0:57
  forever. As he grew, he kept listening to God
• 1:02
  and serving faithfully. The Bible says that all
• 1:06
  of Israel from the north to the south knew that
• 1:09
  Samuel was truly chosen as a prophet of the Lord.

  A prophet is someone who hears God's words and
• 1:17
  then shares them with others. Samuel became a
• 1:20
  messenger of God helping the people know what
• 1:24
  was right and leading them back when they strayed.

  There were hard times in Israel. The people often
• 1:31
  forgot God, and enemies like the Philistines
• 1:35
  would attack. But whenever they called out to
• 1:38
  God, Samuel prayed for them and reminded them
• 1:41
  to put away false gods and trust the Lord alone.

  One time, the Philistines gathered for a big
• 1:49
  battle. The Israelites were afraid. But Samuel
• 1:54
  prayed and offered a sacrifice to God. And God
• 1:58
  showed his mighty power. A great thunder rolled
• 2:04
  from the sky and confused the Philistines, so
• 2:07
  the Israelites won. Afterward, Samuel set up
• 2:11
  a special stone and named it Ebenezer, which
• 2:15
  means stone of help. He said, So far the Lord
• 2:21
  has helped us. It was a way to remind the people
• 2:25
  God was their helper and would never leave them.
• 2:29
  For many years, Samuel served as a judge and
• 2:33
  prophet. He traveled around, teaching the people,
• 2:37
  helping them solve problems, and guiding them
• 2:41
  to follow God. But Samuel wasn't perfect. No
• 2:46
  leader is. Later in his life, the people began
• 2:50
  to demand something new, a king, like the nations
• 2:54
  around them. Samuel warned them that a king would
• 2:58
  take their sons, their daughters, their land,
• 3:02
  and their freedom. But the people didn't want
• 3:05
  to listen. Even then, Samuel stayed faithful.
• 3:10
  He prayed to God and continued to guide the people
• 3:14
  as best as he could. Isn't that amazing? Samuel
• 3:23
  didn't trust in his own strength, he trusted
• 3:26
  in God. And God gave him wisdom and courage to
• 3:30
  lead. Think about this. Do you have someone in
• 3:34
  your life who reminds you about God, like Samuel
• 3:38
  reminded Israel? Maybe a parent, a teacher, or
• 3:42
  pastor? God gives us leaders to help us walk
• 3:46
  in His ways. but he also invites us to listen
• 3:50
  to him ourselves, just like Samuel did. Samuel's
• 3:54
  life reminds us that following God takes courage
• 3:58
  and patience. Sometimes people won't listen.

  Sometimes things won't go the way we hope. But
• 4:06
  God asks us to stay faithful and keep trusting
• 4:09
  him. Let's think about a few things together.

  about what's right? What helps you keep trusting

  God when things around you are hard? Can you

  think of something God has helped you with like

  Samuel's stone of help? Samuel grew from a boy

  who listened to God into a strong leader for

  his people. He helped them remember that God
