- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so glad you're
- 0:08here. In our last episode, we heard the amazing
- 0:13story of how young Samuel learned to listen when
- 0:16God called his name in the night. Samuel answered,
- 0:21Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. What
- 0:27a beautiful way to show us how to listen to God's
- 0:30voice. Today, we'll continue Samuel's story and
- 0:34see how he grew into a prophet and leader, someone
- 0:38God used to guide his people. Are you ready?
- 0:42Let's jump in. Samuel didn't stay a little boy
- 0:57forever. As he grew, he kept listening to God
- 1:02and serving faithfully. The Bible says that all
- 1:06of Israel from the north to the south knew that
- 1:09Samuel was truly chosen as a prophet of the Lord.
- 1:13A prophet is someone who hears God's words and
- 1:17then shares them with others. Samuel became a
- 1:20messenger of God helping the people know what
- 1:24was right and leading them back when they strayed.
- 1:27There were hard times in Israel. The people often
- 1:31forgot God, and enemies like the Philistines
- 1:35would attack. But whenever they called out to
- 1:38God, Samuel prayed for them and reminded them
- 1:41to put away false gods and trust the Lord alone.
- 1:46One time, the Philistines gathered for a big
- 1:49battle. The Israelites were afraid. But Samuel
- 1:54prayed and offered a sacrifice to God. And God
- 1:58showed his mighty power. A great thunder rolled
- 2:04from the sky and confused the Philistines, so
- 2:07the Israelites won. Afterward, Samuel set up
- 2:11a special stone and named it Ebenezer, which
- 2:15means stone of help. He said, So far the Lord
- 2:21has helped us. It was a way to remind the people
- 2:25God was their helper and would never leave them.
- 2:29For many years, Samuel served as a judge and
- 2:33prophet. He traveled around, teaching the people,
- 2:37helping them solve problems, and guiding them
- 2:41to follow God. But Samuel wasn't perfect. No
- 2:46leader is. Later in his life, the people began
- 2:50to demand something new, a king, like the nations
- 2:54around them. Samuel warned them that a king would
- 2:58take their sons, their daughters, their land,
- 3:02and their freedom. But the people didn't want
- 3:05to listen. Even then, Samuel stayed faithful.
- 3:10He prayed to God and continued to guide the people
- 3:14as best as he could. Isn't that amazing? Samuel
- 3:23didn't trust in his own strength, he trusted
- 3:26in God. And God gave him wisdom and courage to
- 3:30lead. Think about this. Do you have someone in
- 3:34your life who reminds you about God, like Samuel
- 3:38reminded Israel? Maybe a parent, a teacher, or
- 3:42pastor? God gives us leaders to help us walk
- 3:46in His ways. but he also invites us to listen
- 3:50to him ourselves, just like Samuel did. Samuel's
- 3:54life reminds us that following God takes courage
- 3:58and patience. Sometimes people won't listen.
- 4:02Sometimes things won't go the way we hope. But
- 4:06God asks us to stay faithful and keep trusting
- 4:09him. Let's think about a few things together.
- 4:15Have you ever had to remind a friend or sibling
- 4:18about what's right? What helps you keep trusting
- 4:23God when things around you are hard? Can you
- 4:29think of something God has helped you with like
- 4:32Samuel's stone of help? Samuel grew from a boy
- 4:37who listened to God into a strong leader for
- 4:40his people. He helped them remember that God
- 4:43was their true king. Thanks for joining me today.
- 4:49Next time on Wonderfully Made, we'll hear about
- 4:52what happened when the people begged for a king
- 4:55and how God gave them one. Who was Israel's first
- 5:00king? And would he follow God's ways? Until then,
- 5:05remember, you are wonderfully made. And God hears
- 5:09you when you call to him. Bye for now.
