- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up everybody? DJ? Bucky here, move the sticks? Buck.
- 0:10Speaker 2: How are you doing, man?
- 0:12Speaker 3: I'm good. How are you doing? How are you covering
- 0:13Speaker 3: after that late night you had to work and drive
- 0:15Speaker 3: back to the house.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit, a little bit of a long
- 0:18Speaker 2: night there. But fun, man, all fun. I'll tell you
- 0:22Speaker 2: we can. We can just skip the happy chat and
- 0:24Speaker 2: jump right into it. Here it's time for the lead
- 0:26Speaker 2: block presented by Team Mobile for business. Football needs a
- 0:28Speaker 2: network willing to go to the extra yards. So do
- 0:30Speaker 2: you go further with T Mobile four business. It was
- 0:33Speaker 2: fun atmosphere for those that have, you know, kind of
- 0:36Speaker 2: followed the Chargers over the years since they moved to
- 0:39Speaker 2: Los Angeles, you know, and they moved initially into the
- 0:41Speaker 2: into the stub Hub, which was then Dignity Health. How
- 0:44Speaker 2: they've changed the names was of the soccer stadium twenty
- 0:46Speaker 2: thousand seats. That would be eighty percent opposing fans in
- 0:51Speaker 2: those in the in those venues, just because it's a
- 0:54Speaker 2: that they're new to LA. You also have the combination
- 0:57Speaker 2: of it's a you know, there's a high price ticket,
- 1:00Speaker 2: the highest priced ticket in the league at that time,
- 1:01Speaker 2: because it's just it's a supplied demand. There wasn't many tickets.
- 1:05Speaker 2: So if you're a passionate Eagles fan and the Eagles
- 1:07Speaker 2: come to town, you're going to pay the extra money,
- 1:09Speaker 2: you know, and so on and so forth. But the
- 1:11Speaker 2: last two weeks the Bengals, who actually have a good
- 1:14Speaker 2: following and the Ravens, who have a very large following.
- 1:18Speaker 2: The Sofi Stadium was eighty percent Charger fans during those
- 1:21Speaker 2: two years, and it was it's kind of like you
- 1:24Speaker 2: could see and I think, look, Harbaugh deserves a lot
- 1:25Speaker 2: of credit for that. He's brought a lot of excitement
- 1:28Speaker 2: to the team and to that fan base. But it
- 1:31Speaker 2: was a it was a legitimate home game. There's a
- 1:33Speaker 2: lot of energy in there, had kind of a playoff
- 1:34Speaker 2: vibe to it. Close game at halftime, and then you
- 1:38Speaker 2: get into the second half. The Ravens they're just they
- 1:41Speaker 2: just war on them, man, they just warm them out.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It's like a price fighter.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it was. It was.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It was a really fun game to watch in terms
- 1:50Speaker 1: of two teams that want to impose their will as fighters,
- 1:54Speaker 1: that love to attack you with body blows, and so
- 1:57Speaker 1: the opening part of the game, you see the Chargers
- 1:59Speaker 1: kind of had having their way, not necessarily that the
- 2:02Speaker 1: running game was dominant, but they were using the running
- 2:04Speaker 1: game to set everything up. Justin Herbert was on a
- 2:06Speaker 1: heater very early in the game, and you kind of
- 2:09Speaker 1: saw them doing the thing. And then defensively they're doing
- 2:12Speaker 1: a really good job early of containing Derrick Henry. But
- 2:15Speaker 1: then as that diesel engine kind of got cranked up
- 2:18Speaker 1: with Derrick Henry running, what you could in what you
- 2:21Speaker 1: could see was the vision for what the Ravens offense
- 2:25Speaker 1: was going to be in the postseason. Part of the
- 2:28Speaker 1: reason in the appeal of getting Derrick Henry is to
- 2:31Speaker 1: make sure he could stabilize things when the offense wasn't going.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Early on, the offense wasn't clicking, they couldn't get the
- 2:37Speaker 1: passing game going. They started handing the ball to number
- 2:39Speaker 1: twenty two and number twenty two, so I found some
- 2:41Speaker 1: room and then that was enough to kind of set
- 2:44Speaker 1: the table for what they were able to get done
- 2:47Speaker 1: in the second half.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it really was. I mean, the Chargers had
- 2:50Speaker 2: some self inflicted wounds with drop passes, some costly penalties,
- 2:55Speaker 2: they gated some things, but you know, take nothing away
- 2:58Speaker 2: from the Baltimore Ravens. They're very physical bunch. They know
- 3:01Speaker 2: exactly who they are. Lamar's ability to extend and still
- 3:04Speaker 2: throw the ball, I mean they contained him as a runner,
- 3:07Speaker 2: didn't really have much of an impact as a runner.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But Derrick Henry goes out there does his thing, and
- 3:12Speaker 2: you know, I love the compliment in terms of the
- 3:14Speaker 2: roster build of the banger, the physical back and then
- 3:19Speaker 2: just the explosive little piece of little stick of dynamite
- 3:22Speaker 2: you can throw out there with Justice Hill and he
- 3:24Speaker 2: popped one.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It's almost like having a knuckleball pitcher pitch for a
- 3:28Speaker 1: few innes and then you come back with the guy
- 3:30Speaker 1: that's throwing the hundred mile hour eater and you're like, whoa, oh.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I gotta fix my eyes, I got to adjust or whatever.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And you know, the funny thing about the Ravens rushing attack,
- 3:40Speaker 1: so much of is about Derrick Henry. Then you get
- 3:43Speaker 1: a little Justice here, you get some Lamar Jackson, and
- 3:45Speaker 1: you look at you like, man, they have well over
- 3:47Speaker 1: two hundred rushing yards in a league where we talk
- 3:50Speaker 1: about that being a dominant performance. It felt like they
- 3:53Speaker 1: were having a weight but it didn't feel like it
- 3:55Speaker 1: was a dominant we're running over you and posing your will,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and that is the beauty of the complimentary pieces that
- 4:02Speaker 1: they have in the running game.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it was. It was impressive like that. I
- 4:05Speaker 2: came away from that game saying, Okay, I think the
- 4:08Speaker 2: Chargers are still ahead of schedule. They are they find themselves,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you know, right in the ball game, down by one,
- 4:14Speaker 2: it was fourteen, thirteen and a half. It was a
- 4:16Speaker 2: one score game all the way till late in the
- 4:17Speaker 2: fourth quarter they go up fourteen. The Chargers end up
- 4:20Speaker 2: getting the late one, so it ends a one score game.
- 4:22Speaker 2: But it was it was pretty competitive, back and forth,
- 4:24Speaker 2: close ballgame, one possession game. And I looked at it.
- 4:27Speaker 2: If I left that stadium and I'm Joe Ortiz, the
- 4:30Speaker 2: general manager of the Chargers, I'm like, I got my
- 4:32Speaker 2: to do list, And it's kind of what we've been
- 4:33Speaker 2: saying using that analogy is make the make the Detroit
- 4:37Speaker 2: Lions your north star, and what do they have that
- 4:40Speaker 2: we don't And it's like, okay, well, we've got the quarterback,
- 4:43Speaker 2: we've got the tackles, you know, we've got some edge rushers.
- 4:47Speaker 2: You know, We're okay there, We've got Derwin James gives
- 4:49Speaker 2: us a physical guy. I think you've got your Amara
- 4:51Speaker 2: Saint Brown, Alad McConkie, who's going to catch a over
- 4:54Speaker 2: hunter balls every year once we get once he gets
- 4:56Speaker 2: rolling in his career, he's going to be a volume player.
- 5:00Speaker 2: But now we need to find our Jameis and Williams.
- 5:02Speaker 2: We need to find our Sam Laporta, and we need
- 5:04Speaker 2: to find our Jamier Gibs like those are kind of
- 5:06Speaker 2: on the to do list.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say that's the difference would be the
- 5:10Speaker 1: speed factor, right, Like I think they had a very
- 5:13Speaker 1: good team, almost like a traditional Big ten team.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:16Speaker 1: They're big, they're physical, not that they're plotting, but they
- 5:20Speaker 1: don't have that extra juice that you see some of
- 5:22Speaker 1: the teams have.
- 5:24Speaker 3: They need those guys that can take it the distance.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Because the difference in that game literally was justice He'll
- 5:30Speaker 1: catch a swing passer taking the distance. Zay Flowers catching
- 5:35Speaker 1: one at the end of half and on a.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Dime he has segeared.
- 5:38Speaker 1: It allows him to go all the way to the
- 5:41Speaker 1: thing and then you look up they throw one over
- 5:43Speaker 1: the top four a touchdown at the end of the half.
- 5:45Speaker 1: That ended up being really critical. The speed factor in
- 5:48Speaker 1: the Markey positions. To me, that was the difference. I
- 5:51Speaker 1: think they're toe to toe and even when it comes
- 5:54Speaker 1: to playing in the trenches, the home run ability and
- 5:57Speaker 1: in the league where points are direct from your ability
- 6:01Speaker 1: to produce explosive plays, they need more guys that can
- 6:04Speaker 1: deliver those explosive plays to help them score more points.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I think that's that's clear. We get to
- 6:10Speaker 2: the Ravens side of it. Look, there are some holes
- 6:12Speaker 2: in the secondary Chargers capitalized on some of it, but
- 6:15Speaker 2: then drop passes did them in. But you start forecasting
- 6:18Speaker 2: into the playoffs, and I know they've seen these teams,
- 6:20Speaker 2: but you get into the postseason, I mean, it's gonna
- 6:24Speaker 2: be a challenge for them when you look at you
- 6:26Speaker 2: know some of the quarterbacks you're gonna have to navigate around.
- 6:29Speaker 2: They're gonna have to They're gonna have to win some
- 6:30Speaker 2: high scoring games. It seems weird to say that with
- 6:33Speaker 2: the Ravens historical defensive team, but look, no rokwand Smith
- 6:38Speaker 2: in there. But Malik Harrison played great. He had thirteen tackles.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I want to say in that game he was he
- 6:43Speaker 2: played really well. So but they're gonna find themselves in
- 6:47Speaker 2: some shootouts in the postseasons.
- 6:48Speaker 3: My prediction, Yeah, can they hold up?
- 6:50Speaker 1: You know you have Nate Wiggins that comes over, Marlin Humphrey,
- 6:53Speaker 1: steel can make a play on occasion. Cayle Hamilton is
- 6:56Speaker 1: having to do a lot because they've had injuries in
- 6:58Speaker 1: the back end, so he's not tradition, he's not in
- 7:01Speaker 1: the box doing what he normally would do.
- 7:03Speaker 3: They really have a good secondary.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I think zach Orr is beginning to find some concepts
- 7:08Speaker 1: that work with the personnel that he has. The problem
- 7:12Speaker 1: that you have is when you look at how this
- 7:14Speaker 1: team has to play to beat the rest of the
- 7:17Speaker 1: teams in the AFC.
- 7:18Speaker 3: You got to deal with.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Pat Mahomes regardless of what the weapons are on the outside.
- 7:21Speaker 1: You gotta have enough speed to deal with him. You
- 7:23Speaker 1: gotta have an answer for Josh Allen and those things. Now, look,
- 7:27Speaker 1: they beat the Bills up early, but this may be
- 7:29Speaker 1: a new version of the Bills that they have to
- 7:30Speaker 1: face the front.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You know, it could be, and they're going to be
- 7:34Speaker 2: unless they catch the Steelers, They're going to be on the.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Road, you know, And so can you get it done
- 7:40Speaker 1: in Deavorguard? But I will say the running game the
- 7:44Speaker 1: offense being able to control it on offense to protect
- 7:48Speaker 1: the defense.
- 7:49Speaker 3: That could be their saving grace.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And as we're looking at more of the teams that
- 7:52Speaker 1: we're beginning to project in terms of being in the
- 7:55Speaker 1: final four, like the Lions and the Eagles, the Ravens
- 7:59Speaker 1: can be in a Your ability to shift gears on
- 8:03Speaker 1: offense is really critical because if they take away one thing,
- 8:07Speaker 1: do you have a CounterPunch to what the defensive tactic is?
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah? No, that's a great point. You got to be multifaceted,
- 8:14Speaker 2: that's for sure. That's a rap for the lead block
- 8:17Speaker 2: presented by T Mobile for Business. Football needs a network
- 8:19Speaker 2: willing to go to the extra yard. So do you
- 8:21Speaker 2: go further with T Mobile for Business. I want to
- 8:24Speaker 2: forecast ahead a little bit here, Buck, if we look
- 8:27Speaker 2: at the playoff seedings right now, tell me if you
- 8:30Speaker 2: wouldn't take the road team in these wildcard matchups? You're ready, okay?
- 8:35Speaker 2: So it would be right now? The two seed, well,
- 8:37Speaker 2: this would be the interesting one. So the two seed,
- 8:39Speaker 2: it would be the two seven. So that would be Denver.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Denver would go on the road to play Buffalo. That's
- 8:43Speaker 2: going to be tough for Denver. But then you'd have
- 8:46Speaker 2: the Chargers would go back to Pittsburgh for a rematch
- 8:50Speaker 2: there and the Ravens would go to Houston. Those are
- 8:54Speaker 2: three dangerous wildcard teams. Man, they are.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And let's just say this because I want people to
- 8:59Speaker 1: unders saying like the Buffalo Bills would be favored, but
- 9:01Speaker 1: it wouldn't be an easy win for the Buffalo Bills
- 9:03Speaker 1: if they have to face the Broncos. Broncos defense top
- 9:06Speaker 1: five defense, they bring pressure from every angle and they
- 9:10Speaker 1: are one of the teams that can lock up and
- 9:11Speaker 1: if they need to, they can lock up play man
- 9:14Speaker 1: demand and challenge Josh Allen to make tight window throws
- 9:17Speaker 1: to wide receivers who we need to see if they
- 9:19Speaker 1: can elevate their games in the postseason, that would be tough.
- 9:22Speaker 3: If you talk about the Texans and the Ravens.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Even though the Texans aren't playing well, the Ravens are
- 9:28Speaker 1: a talented team. We've seen what they've been able to
- 9:30Speaker 1: do against the Texans.
- 9:32Speaker 2: The Ravens would favor.
- 9:35Speaker 1: So we've seen that. And then the Stillers in the Chargers. Look,
- 9:40Speaker 1: the Stellers are going to play Wisconsin basketball. It's gonna
- 9:42Speaker 1: be a half court game. No matter what, do they
- 9:45Speaker 1: have enough firepower? If the Charges get up, can they
- 9:48Speaker 1: work their way back into the game. That's the thing
- 9:50Speaker 1: that you worry about when it comes to the Pittsburgh Stillers.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Every game is a tight game and it doesn't matter
- 9:55Speaker 1: who you're playing.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Let's flip it over to the NFC. When you look
- 9:59Speaker 2: at the NFC state the matchups would be. We would
- 10:03Speaker 2: have the two seed would be the Philadelphia Eagles, so
- 10:05Speaker 2: the Philadelphia Eagles would host the Commanders in a division game.
- 10:10Speaker 2: You would have the six seed Green Bay Packers, they
- 10:13Speaker 2: would go play at Seattle. It feels like those teams
- 10:16Speaker 2: have a long history of seeing each other. And then
- 10:18Speaker 2: you'd have the Minnesota Vikings as the five go play
- 10:21Speaker 2: the Atlanta Falcons and the four and the Kirk Cousins Bowl.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Kirk Cousins Bowl would be intriguing to me.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That's the one that might be a little lopsided, just
- 10:31Speaker 1: because the defense of the Vikings, just how they can
- 10:34Speaker 1: come after it, and the intail Kevin O'Connell really knowing
- 10:37Speaker 1: the quarterback. That would be a tough one, I would
- 10:40Speaker 1: say for the Atlanta Falcons. When you think about the
- 10:42Speaker 1: Commanders and the Eagles. That is the one that would
- 10:44Speaker 1: be a toss up regardless of the Eagles, and how
- 10:48Speaker 1: will they fared division game? Very comfortable in terms of
- 10:52Speaker 1: knowing your rivals, Dan Quinn, knowing Killing Moore from their
- 10:55Speaker 1: time together on the Cowboys staff.
- 10:58Speaker 3: That's not the ideal opening.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Round game that you want if you to feel the Eagles,
- 11:02Speaker 1: even though you wouldn't fear the Commanders if they had
- 11:04Speaker 1: to come in your building.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, it's some intriguing matchups there. I would say, man,
- 11:10Speaker 2: that the Washington offensive line, as we've seen, kind of
- 11:12Speaker 2: come back to earth a little bit. But then Philadelphia
- 11:14Speaker 2: loses Brandon Graham, They've lost Huff so they've lost a
- 11:17Speaker 2: couple pieces of their front, So that would be interesting.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I know the Eagles look promising right now, but as
- 11:24Speaker 2: we look at the playoff picture, we also and will
- 11:26Speaker 2: have time to get to it next week. But man,
- 11:28Speaker 2: how about next week's matchup between the Ravens and the Eagles.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You talk about a heavyweight fight, you know it's heavyweight fight.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And if you're the ball to on Ravens, you're coming
- 11:36Speaker 1: off an emotional game against the Charges. The Eagles are
- 11:40Speaker 1: waiting for this. This is one for Syriana and this
- 11:43Speaker 1: Eagles group. I think it can legitimize them as a
- 11:46Speaker 1: title contender. We can talk about how talented they are
- 11:49Speaker 1: on offense and all the weapons and firepower, how they
- 11:51Speaker 1: can shift the way that they play and lean heavily
- 11:55Speaker 1: into Saquon Barkley while also getting the ball into the playmakers.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Very matchup for the Baltimore Ravens.
- 12:01Speaker 1: But Baltimore Ravens, man, they want to play physical football.
- 12:06Speaker 3: And we talked.
- 12:07Speaker 1: About the Philadelphia Eagles wearing opponents out. They can kind
- 12:10Speaker 1: of bludgeon you a little bit.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Man.
- 12:12Speaker 1: There's one thing to beat the bully. It's another thing
- 12:14Speaker 1: they have to take down to bully. And make no
- 12:15Speaker 1: question about it, Baltimore Ravens are a bully.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Yeah. No, that's that's gonna be fun, man, that'll be
- 12:21Speaker 2: a fun matchup. Let's say quick break, we come back,
- 12:24Speaker 2: We'll get a rookie draft. No reht and no Bill
- 12:25Speaker 2: is going to fill in for him. We'll pick up
- 12:28Speaker 2: where we left off with the rookies. Hts still in
- 12:30Speaker 2: the lead, but we're gonna hunt him down. We'll get
- 12:32Speaker 2: to that right after this. All right, Buck, We've got
- 12:39Speaker 2: the rookie draft here we made a little ground up
- 12:42Speaker 2: on Rhett. He's still leading by eight points, so bluck,
- 12:47Speaker 2: He's he's playing. Look, sometimes you play a little bit
- 12:50Speaker 2: above your level, you know. I feel like that Red
- 12:52Speaker 2: is done. You know, I think he's coming. He's gonna
- 12:54Speaker 2: come back. He's gonna come back to Earth.
- 12:56Speaker 3: He's punching above his way right now.
- 12:58Speaker 1: He and Kirk Signetty have been going right now, and
- 13:01Speaker 1: we're hoping that we can kind of find a way
- 13:03Speaker 1: to reeling back in at like Ohio State reeled in Indiana.
- 13:06Speaker 3: We need to make sure that we get Ritt bringing
- 13:08Speaker 3: back to the back a little bit.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yep, we're gonna do that. We're gonna hut him down
- 13:11Speaker 2: right now. All right, we are going to start off.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I've got the first pick, You've got the second pick.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Then Rhet goes back to back on the turn here.
- 13:19Speaker 2: So first pick, man, I don't I don't know that
- 13:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna change anything with what's been working. So I'm
- 13:24Speaker 2: gonna stick with Jayden Daniels here with the first pick.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Oh look at you, Jayde and Daniels. Now here's what
- 13:30Speaker 1: makes it tough. Bo Nis has played so well that
- 13:33Speaker 1: I compelled need to I need to take him just
- 13:36Speaker 1: so I can get the quarterback that I want.
- 13:37Speaker 3: So I'm gonna take Bowe Nicks right here.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Okay, that gives Rhett a little doubled up here. Mm hmm.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Orett's gonna go Brock Bowers. According to Nobile, that would
- 13:49Speaker 2: have been my pick. I always feel like I missed
- 13:52Speaker 2: out on Bowers. All right, Who's who's he got next
- 13:54Speaker 2: to the Bill? He's going Bowers. Oh we got Bucky
- 13:56Speaker 2: Irving first. I didn't see that, so he went Bucky
- 13:58Speaker 2: Irving and then Hours. So there you go. Your namesake
- 14:04Speaker 2: is off the board. Buck You're up next.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Wow, yes, sir, yes, telling uh you know DJ It
- 14:11Speaker 1: is a thing where sometimes, like normally, the squeaky will
- 14:15Speaker 1: will get a little bit of degrease. So I'm gonna
- 14:16Speaker 1: try and go with Melik Neighbors. He was a little
- 14:18Speaker 1: upset like he didn't get enough touches. So let's go
- 14:22Speaker 1: with Eleak Neighbors getting more touches this week.
- 14:25Speaker 2: All right, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go with Lad
- 14:28Speaker 2: McConkey with my first pick. Who, by the way, is
- 14:32Speaker 2: it going to surprise you at all? If you look
- 14:33Speaker 2: up and you know ten years into his career. We're
- 14:37Speaker 2: talking about somebody who's, you know, averaging one hundred and
- 14:40Speaker 2: six catches a year. You know, it's just the way
- 14:43Speaker 2: that he plays that would not surprise me at all.
- 14:45Speaker 2: He's just going to be such a high volume guy.
- 14:47Speaker 2: So I'll go with that for my first one. My
- 14:51Speaker 2: second pick can go in a couple of different directions.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I want to dunesay, who got me some points last week? Oh?
- 14:57Speaker 2: If I want to go back to that route again,
- 15:00Speaker 2: let me see who else would I go? Yeah, Marvin
- 15:03Speaker 2: Harrison's just kind of lingering out there. There's a good
- 15:06Speaker 2: game in there somewhere, you know what. Yeah, give me
- 15:14Speaker 2: Marvin Harrison. I'll go Marvin Harrison.

- 15:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna go I'm gonna have my own little inside
- 15:28Speaker 1: of trading. Maybe Brian Thomas Junior re emerges, particularly if

- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we're doing it. We're gonna reel him in. We're
- 16:36Speaker 2: going to close this thing down. And uh, and just
- 16:39Speaker 2: let that ego come down a little bit, just getting
- 16:41Speaker 2: a little carried away confidence. Why we've got to reel
- 16:43Speaker 2: that in.
