- 0:07This is Chuck's Cantina podcast, where anything and everything is up for discussion.
- 0:15And now here's your barman, Chuck O'Donnell. Oh oh oh, time to
- 0:22start the show. Oh oh car park place? Yeah, car park place,
- 0:32car park place. If you missed last week's episode, you'll miss that.
- 0:37Shack Zilla taught me a valuable lesson in not the same places. They
- 0:41don't sponsor the show, so fuck I'll sing their jingles though. I literally
- 0:47I think it one span sense I don't be listened last week and one span
- 0:50of sense I said like six actual businesses, and then it caught me out,
- 0:55like wait, why is it like like Drewdyven like I said the communications
- 0:58marketing, Like Drew's like seeing like he's like really random places. You know.
- 1:03He's like I think he called like one like you call it one place
- 1:06like sweater bike or something like that sweater bike. Yeah, I'm just like
- 1:14like, oh, I get it, Like you know, yeah, let's
- 1:15not say the name of the places, but you know, we'll say things
- 1:18and make it obvious, make it freak, and you cut out, you
- 1:23cut out. He's so excited, ladies and gentlemen, he cut out while
- 1:26he's getting his microphone back then while he's dingled, I dingled my freaking cables
- 1:34disconnected me. Oh you dingle that? Huh? You call yourself away and
- 1:40I'll show you something you can dingle. Tack on my goblet? Huh?
- 1:48I thought you said he said, took him my goblet, and sim's gonna
- 1:53put it your goblin. Have some old man freak out on that person?
- 1:57What the person? Have I entered the cantena. Are we rolling? Yes?
- 2:08Decompressed? Oh geez, hold on, I got gotta get through the
- 2:14intro ship. I'm saying, Welcome to Chuck's Cantina. I'm yourfer barment host.
- 2:19We really want to call me Chuck. Join us today? Is O
- 2:22G. Patron Patrick obviously, while he's getting set up also joining us.
- 2:27Well, he's not really here. He's sleeping. He's knocked out, is
- 2:30my dog, Tully. I know you're good. You wake him up,
- 2:35Wake him up. He's actually seeming like a baby. We think you know,
- 2:38it's really quick. It kind of hit me last night Kate and I
- 2:39were watching TV and she was laying like he was like laying like on her
- 2:46lap like full like like just fully sprawled out, and it like hit me
- 2:52there like my dog, like we've had him for four months now, which
- 2:55is crazy to say almost actually have four months tomorrow, literally four months and
- 3:00literally he was sprawled out. Yeah, no, it was crazy how because
- 3:04literally it was like not even like two months ago, like he was like
- 3:07laying from like her lap to like her knees, and like he was past
- 3:09her knees and like not even two months ago, like he was. No,
- 3:14I'm just like, what the fuck? Dog getting old? No,
- 3:17they really quick. The dog. The dog deaded me one story short.
- 3:21I won't say where for privacy purposes, but my wife and I we're going
- 3:24on a little trip next week, and last couple of days were trying figure
- 3:27out where he's gonna stay. And I got that I'll sort it out,
- 3:30and then right away I got out like dad worried, like asking these questions
- 3:31like all right, I got some I got some questions about your uh,
- 3:37your watchability of my animal. You know. The people are like, why
- 3:40i'm your mom, Yeah, well I know dogs, So this is I
- 3:51know you're used to bears, mom, don't let your bears eat my dog.
- 3:54Oh God, be kicking ass over there, probably know kick their ass.
- 4:00You should let me come on over here. I'll show you what this
- 4:04pay for kicking kick away. I don't know. I love I love that
- 4:09it is. Chris Tucker started off as like Hartman. I went to Chris
- 4:17Tucker. That was pretty good, really quick. I am drinking and I
- 4:24am gonna try let me see what's in the fridge. Here. We'll be
- 4:27on the fridge. He's reaching down underneath his desk. He's fishing around in
- 4:30the fridge. Gotta get the ring, got the flavor. I'm just knocking
- 4:36it over. I am drinking. This was given This was given to me
- 4:43by a co worker's husbands, one of no techic to my coworkers. We're
- 4:47from the same place. One of our husbands gave me this beer because long
- 4:54storry short. They went back to Germany because they're coming here for some v
- 4:58like you know, uh, interim assignments. And he had this like he's
- 5:02like, I wanted to I wanted to try Wisconsin. He's not. Why
- 5:05is he Russian? You want to try try thesconsin beers. You wanted to
- 5:09try, so he gave me a It's if you're from the Illino, Wisconsin,
- 5:13you know you've heard of nuclaries, you know my you know spot of
- 5:15Calasogos to go to the pretty good. They're pretty good. The preging there's
- 5:19like was it like naked? Something's the good one too, But he gave
- 5:23me I've never had this called dancing man wheat mm hmm. So that's gonna
- 5:28be crisp. Jesus, what the fuck are you doing? Sorry? I
- 5:30was doing the old knocking on the desk thing. Are you gonna try to
- 5:34open a bottle on your desk? Yeah? It didn't work out. This
- 5:38is why the kay of nice things. You have a bottle opener in your
- 5:41house? I know you do. I know there's probably like a magnet.
- 5:44He should get a one of those fancy magnet. Oh my god, there's
- 5:46literally a bottle up right here. What you doing so for there? Just
- 5:50banging on his desk. I've been working monitors. I've got monitors on the
- 5:56desk, got a custom PC. He's your quick live review shout around.
- 6:06I wish it was colder, but it's actually not bad. They're pretty good.
- 6:12That's what we should do. The long waited, the long waited.
- 6:15Uh here, this is what we'll do. Since this is far overdue.
- 6:19I will be right back. I will assemble the ranking system of beers that
- 6:26Chuck gave me. Wait, okay, can be your drink, so really
- 6:30quick. While he does that, let me get to the go ahead.
- 6:32Here's my drink. I'm drinking some tea. I'm drinking some tea because you
- 6:39already drink the beers, right, you're not gonnadrink the I'm not gonna drink
- 6:42them all now. The fucking cans have been lined up in order on my
- 6:46fridge for years, like years, it felt like he is I'll go grab
- 6:49him and take This is a smart way. I'm gonna take a pics that
- 6:57way. I don't have to move eight cans over here. God, that'd
- 7:00be loud as fun. I'm speaking in my headphones like that mic from that'd
- 7:02be loud. It'd be too loud. Don't do it. List enough,
- 7:09keep anyway, I haven't seen doing yet, So please let's put it the
- 7:14slip review comings to and I promise anyway. While he's doing that, as
- 7:16always, you to join us today. You can find us at Chuck's Cantina
- 7:21on your socials Chuckscantina at gmail dot com. I already said I'll say it
- 7:28again, I'm your favorite barman. Host it coming chuck apparently, Jesus Christ,
- 7:40great audio, the strongest man alive. Are you okay? Tell me
- 7:51assemblies in order anymore? Sounds like just it sounds like you just walked into
- 8:01Steve Boston's like shed Jesus Christ, M all right, so okay, coming
- 8:18in? Oh I really quit just before. No, I just want to
- 8:20make sure you can hear you. Put my head thones on. I just
- 8:24I just want to explain to the people, uh people. So oj Patron
- 8:30was at my house a couple of weeks ago, and he was just stopping
- 8:35by, and my wife and I were doing a lot of cleaning gear and
- 8:39a lot of stuff and stuff like that because it's that time of year.
- 8:41And I used to be this beer kind of club thing. Sorry, this
- 8:45isde You're fine, dude, It's actually good. It's funny though, It's
- 8:48all good. And I had bestowed upon him, he's my bro a gift
- 8:52of six. I sound like an alcoholic with all these cancel it like cold
- 9:01water. Let's go. No, it was eight eight. But here's the
- 9:13thing chocked to one of one of the cans that I lost one of the
- 9:16cans by accident. But it was that Cranberry, that Cranberry weak beer,
- 9:22and that came in dead last, and I'm not gonna lie came last,
- 9:26all right, because it was decent, but it was not bad and it
- 9:28was not good. But then the second and last it was the spark of
- 9:35a genius. That'd be cool if you could like put all these in the
- 9:39links to use in the bios of this episode the bios like a podcast episode
- 9:43has a biography, all right, I mean it does. Actually you know
- 9:46what I mean. You know what I mean in the description of the episode.
- 9:50But that's from Melvin Brewing and that's from uh Wyoming. Actually, that's
- 9:56fucking crazy. Yeah, that one came in second to last because it was
- 10:01a bitter ale with tea leaves. Now, I am all for trying new
- 10:07combinations of things, trying different flavors of things. I've had beers that had
- 10:13peanut butter that were like fucking whiskeys that had marshamallow, Like, who cares,
- 10:16if it's good, it's good. This one was close to good.
- 10:20It was tasty, but it was not It tasted like a good combo.
- 10:26I bet maybe different tea, I don't know. Not their fault. They
- 10:30wanted to try it. They called it Spark of Genius, which was lofty,
- 10:37but you know what, it was quality. It tasted good. But
- 10:41the next few beers are not just good, and they're a little bit better
- 10:46than good. The next one's he says, you say, we have something
- 10:52to say, You had something to say, No, I just I just
- 10:56wanted to just say, like, this is why I've always said a couple
- 10:58of times in the podcast, I always recommend if there is a brewery in
- 11:01your area or anything like that, to go try those because while I'm not
- 11:05part of that beer club anymore, where I got those beers I gave to
- 11:07you, and I still have some of those. Literally other night, Kaitlin
- 11:11and I were just having dinner and I'm like, you know what, I
- 11:13even had a beer and Mom, I'm gonna open one up. And I
- 11:13had this and it was an ip I couldn't tell you which one it was.
- 11:16You might have one for all I know, and it was just it
- 11:20was like one of those IPAs. I literally did double take. I'm like,
- 11:22shit, like this is really good, and I'm like we're like I
- 11:26started like writing it down, okay, like like here's what it is.
- 11:28I can like try to find it online or something like that. But just
- 11:31but yeah, carry I apologize, Oh you're fine, and no need to
- 11:35apology. We got a whole episode ahead of this, and besides, we're
- 11:39leading. This is all leading up to why I Am, Why I am
- 11:43drinking this week, so to speak, So lady, how I always like
- 11:50to say, sometimes I drop pipe bombs. My friend will be dropping a
- 11:52pipe on tonight, you know what. And theoretically, thereatically, of course
- 11:56they're theoretically yes, we'll drop the pipe now anyway, No, because that
- 12:05I just wanted to take a second and talk about why this podcast is so
- 12:11so great, so worthwhile, so worth your time. It's that it's a
- 12:13slice of life. There are no there are no what's the word structures for
- 12:18this episode. We gave up on that idea a long time ago, earlier
- 12:22that we did that because it is off the cuff, it is ad lib.
- 12:28It is just who these peeps are. That truck just happens to have
- 12:35in that canteena from time to time. Um, but yeah, shall I
- 12:41continue or please please continue? All right, So this might break your heart,
- 12:45but it's it's for a good reason. Wait that came out wrong,
- 12:50But this is al Segundo's Broken Skull. I p A. This isn't fifth
- 12:56place. I think it just speaks to the quality of the competition. And
- 13:01let's be honest. Steve Austin had a bit of a He had a bit
- 13:07of a unfair advantage in this poll because he had two beers while other companies
- 13:11only had the one beer companies Anyway, Yeah, did you know? Did
- 13:16you know he has two more beers out of that company? Really, I'd
- 13:20love to try him. He I, okay really quick and I'll get you
- 13:22sorry, he has a double I PA, which I don't know what the
- 13:26fool? Yeah? Well, and then he just and then they just released
- 13:31like uh they called it a three sixteen beer, and like I tried to
- 13:35like what exactly is this? And like one person was just like just try
- 13:39it, you know, fine, Like okay, like sure, I'll just
- 13:43try it. I guess six is coming up? That was Yeah, those
- 13:48are this recording it's in two days. Who knows it isn't two days?
- 13:52Wow? Yeah, happy three sixteen brother? Ye amen to that. I'll
- 13:56drink of that brother. Also a Happy Pie Day also be Pie Day to
- 14:00Day and recorded Happy Saint Patrick's Day to Irish folk including morning. Fuck.
- 14:05I can do that because I'm Irish and I'm Scottish. I can I can
- 14:07talk like these whatever you fucking you mess with us? This beer is actually
- 14:20not what's so goddamn it promoting things and I was promoting the show. I
- 14:24wait, this whole this whole fucking episode is me promoting these different beers.
- 14:28It's fine, I got the purpose this was. That was the original concept
- 14:31of the show was we talk and ship, we sometimes get drunk, but
- 14:33whilst we tried different things on like every other episode, just to like,
- 14:37you know, be like, hey, this is pretty good, this is
- 14:37pretty good too. Continue are you fine? Al? Steve Austin broke A
- 14:46s call I p A one of the best uh I p A I p
- 14:52as that I've ever had. It was the best version of the base I
- 14:54p A that you could wish for. It was crisp, ahead bite.
- 15:00It was great. That's hype praise number four. It's a live East Coast
- 15:03style India I p A from the Melvin Company as well. So again,
- 15:07Melvin a little uneven in the playing field here. That one was excellent.
- 15:13That one was, like I said, East Coast IPA has a pretty decent
- 15:22alc by volume. But yeah, man, it is really fucking it laps,
- 15:28dude, It's it woke you up and caught you by surprise, caught
- 15:31you by the booboo and was like, you know again, I'm remembering the
- 15:33reviews of these beers that I had like months ago. Anyway. Number three
- 15:37els again Steve Austin, Broken Skull American Lagger. That was fucking tasty.
- 15:43That is the best lagger I've had in a long time. Very good,
- 15:48very crisp, still light, still a little like lighter, you know what
- 15:52I mean than some of his I pas in this list, But really tasty,
- 15:56really good. I know some people that they really like that lager or
- 16:00they're not fans of it at all. Oh my god. Yeah, it's
- 16:03the best locker I've had. I do a lot of time, well until
- 16:06earlier in this list, if I could remember. The next is the East
- 16:10Brother Beer Company, the Monster Itself. This is a brown ale, and
- 16:15man, let me tell you, when you look for a brown ale,
- 16:18sometimes you get something that's a little too leaning into like a dark style area.
- 16:23Sometimes you get a brown ale that's really just like a red ale or
- 16:27just really fucking light. This was perfect. This was fucking perfect. Yeah,
- 16:33perfect brown ale and number two spot, number one spot, let's talk
- 16:37about it. Bonita Bonita Mountain Style pale ale. Wow. Man, I
- 16:42could drink this all day. I shouldn't and I won't, but it was
- 16:47that fucking good. Like it was like it didn't feel like drinking a beer.
- 16:52I felt like drinking a glass of lemonade. It was so perfect,
- 16:53it was so refreshing. Yeah, it really took me a surprise. Brewd
- 17:00this ship. It was the same people. Lammy, yeah, it's Melvin
- 17:04again, Melvin again. Yeah. I think the Beer Club, like the
- 17:07Beer Cub like most of their beers were from the Melvin Browmin Company. They
- 17:11didn't which is where they didn't like promote it, which was weird because I
- 17:15remember that because it's like the third time I got a case for them.
- 17:18I'm like, all right, like this is like the third time I just
- 17:21is all from Melvin. There was one and I can't remember it was,
- 17:22and that I was one of the worst ones I had from them. And
- 17:26because you know from where, not gonna say who if you live in the
- 17:30Lake County, Cook County area, it's pretty obvious, but uh, there
- 17:36was one that was from like Illinois, and I was like, oh sweet,
- 17:37like like local, kind of like I know exactly where this one.
- 17:40I know where this place is. I can try it. It was one
- 17:41of the worst ones ever read. But it was a beer. It was
- 17:45a It was one of those like tea infused ones, which I'm not really
- 17:52a teen infused guy. So that's why I don't think I liked it that
- 17:55much when I say it was like one of the worst ones, not like
- 17:56the worst beers I ever had, but it was like like of all the
- 17:59one there was like one of the worst ones I ran. But with that
- 18:02digression, I'm glad. I'm glad you enjoyed the bruise. That's what's thank
- 18:06you. Thank you as a gift for my friend. It was very nice.
- 18:10You know, I do what else do you want? Hey, hey,
- 18:15you're a gay guy. You fucking this guy's out of him he's crazy.
- 18:23All right, Well, I just wanna we'll get to like some we'll
- 18:26get to your little thing here or not little thing, your thing here in
- 18:27a minute. I just want to give a little quick, just like update
- 18:34on how things are going with you. There's a few things I want to
- 18:37talk about. There's a few there's I know you want to talk about before
- 18:40we get to the the things on the list, the tea. The tea,
- 18:47because I got a little t not as crazy not well, let me
- 18:48take it back, not as big as your tea, but mine might be
- 18:52bigger in terms of the realm of who it effects. But I can talk
- 18:59about the uh huh, I'm gonna talk about the yeah, cause of bombardment
- 19:10and talking about the continue Okay, how are you well? No, man,
- 19:18the reason I'm heated is you can probably tell from listening. I just
- 19:21sound so riled up right now. The reason, oh so I'm so upset
- 19:29triggered. M No, but I am. I'm fucking uh tilted. You
- 19:37could say that, Okay, fucking tilted right now because tell me more.
- 19:42Well, the apartment uh they live in again, I'm not gonna say names.
- 19:48Already named all the names from earlier in the segment. If you forgot,
- 19:52they go ahead and rewind. Well wait, you're back. Cool here
- 19:57we are, thank you, welcome back, and well I'm tilted, as
- 20:03we once said, because the whatever company that owns my apartment building is deciding
- 20:12that my current abode for the year of you know, for the span of
- 20:22July to July of twenty twenty five, My apartment needs to be three hundred
- 20:27more dollars more expensive a month for no reason. Apparently because other people aren't
- 20:34paying their rent enough was their reason they gave, which was so bullshit.
- 20:41And then also because they these prices were what the apartment was worth the entire
- 20:47time, and it's merely being raised to current market value, which was also
- 20:52some bullshit because as we you know, undoubtedly started doing, we started looking
- 20:56at other apartments in the area, and there's nothing comparable to what we're living
- 21:02in that will go for that amount. So basically, landlords up the rent
- 21:10of the shape or the style. But you know what sucks more, Truck,
- 21:15is that, Chruck. I don't know why I called your truck right
- 21:19now, Chuck. You know what sucks even worse, Chuck, is that
- 21:22Indiana is one of those awesome states where the person who's property you are living
- 21:33on, person you pay monthly for the right to live there, they can
- 21:40not only raise your rent whenever they want, they can raise it however much
- 21:45they decide to, of course, because they have the right to do that,
- 21:53and they have the right to do that without providing any type of explanation
- 21:59or or you know, retionale or anything like that reasoning to do that and
- 22:04anyway, so shit kind of hit the fan a little bit. Jesus.
- 22:12You know, that was Tuesday, and so here we are Thursday afternoon,
- 22:21and you know, we've kind of found we've kind of found some options that
- 22:26are good, kind of found out some options that will afford us to you
- 22:30know, gain gain space in our living home living situation, our household and
- 22:37kind of keep the price the same and locked that price in for a good
- 22:41long time. Nice. So the borel of the story is, you know,
- 22:48when life handy lemons, you make lemonade, and when life decides to
- 22:52raise your rent, she say, fuck that shit, come out but that
- 23:00ship anyway, Yeah, I I'll never forget. Never I'll forget. Oh
- 23:10God, I'll just say I'll briefly say this. I'm not gonna say the
- 23:15whole scoop of it. For a reason. The scoop. I lived in
- 23:18an apartment I can say Milwaukee, because there was multiple apartments in Milwaukee,
- 23:22and one of the apartments I moved into I had to move out for I
- 23:29think it was literally just like, hey, I'm going home for the summer.
- 23:30I'm not gonna pay for this place for three months if I'm not here
- 23:33kind of thing. So anyway, so I told the landlord this all cool,
- 23:40man, hey brads, that have you. It was great, blah
- 23:42blah blah blah blah, all that jazz. So anyway, a couple months
- 23:47go by, and let's just say it was one of those summers where again
- 23:52we're growing you learn from your stakes. It was one of tho summers was
- 23:55like literally like end of like halfway or not halfway, like almost you know,
- 23:57end of July, beginning of all. I guess I'm like, oh
- 24:00shit, I need a place to live in Milwaukee. And so anyway,
- 24:07so I was looking for places and stuff like that. So I called I
- 24:11just happened like I called my own landlord. I'm like, hey, man,
- 24:15by any chance, I know you own a few places. Do you
- 24:17have anything available? And they guy literally goes, actually, Charles, no
- 24:21joke. Your apartment's opening up at the end of this month because the people
- 24:25that lived there only wanted a two to three monthlies. Like, well,
- 24:29that's great right away. I should have known something was up because this landlord
- 24:37did not allow two three monthlies. So unless unless they knew him or something
- 24:41like that. Whatever. So anyway, but the point is he only it
- 24:44was always six months to a year. That was his deal. And after
- 24:48six months you were able to essentially walk in the day before that last day
- 24:51of the month and go, hey, I'm out after this month or whatever,
- 24:52and he was cool with it as long as you wrote it down or
- 24:55sent him an email. Anyway, when I left the apartment the first time,
- 25:02there were some issues with the oven I had, and uh I had
- 25:07documented those, and then there was an issue with I believe one of the
- 25:11lights, and then one of the walls had a debt in the wall because
- 25:18my wife attacked me and I accidentally I put a hole in the wall with
- 25:22my knee, so and I patched it then not myself. Everything like that.
- 25:30So three months ago, by right, I'm moving to this apartment and
- 25:33the guy's like, hey, go ahead and be black blah blah blah,
- 25:36literally same rent, same everything, like cool, great, thanks, this
- 25:42is great for me. I trust you. I trust you, you're a
- 25:47good guy. Anything, no joke. And here's what I swear to God.
- 25:52Anytime anything ever happened with that apartment or someone was going out like like
- 25:55a light went out, or like there wasn't because remember like one of the
- 25:57lights, like the electric it was an older building, electrical in the in
- 26:00the kitchen always went in and out. Electrician there that day. Great,
- 26:06And it was always the same thing when I was always something different. So
- 26:07anyway, get to the point. Go into the apartment the second time.
- 26:11Here's your list. Hey, write anything that's not right. Cool. I
- 26:15go in and the part of the wall that I patched, I saw was
- 26:18a little indented. I'm like, okay, well that wasn't me. Wrote
- 26:22that down. Walk into the kitchen, same part of the even doesn't work,
- 26:26still doesn't work. Write that down. Write a couple of little more
- 26:30things I noticed about blah blah blah. Fast forward to a year later.
- 26:34This guy was so this guy literally came and helped me move out. He
- 26:38helped me because I'm like, hey, I'm moving in, I'm moving or
- 26:41I think I was like, hey, I'm moving to a camp a place
- 26:45closer on campus, or I was actually moving with Kaitlin, sorry, moving
- 26:48with my girlfriend and some friends of ours like baby heay go good man.
- 26:51Blah blah blah. The guy was something like he was actually potentially selling some
- 26:52place like, hey, good for you make it small talk good. I
- 26:56literally had a beer with this guy. So I handed the sheet the day
- 27:03I moved in, and he goes, hey, you know when you move
- 27:04out, document anything that blah blah blah, and I said the only thing
- 27:07that I documented was like, hey, I hunt a few pictures up,
- 27:11but I patchoes myself. You gotta pay a great cool. I don't know
- 27:15how this guy got her number, because this guy did not require a co
- 27:19signer nothing. This guy somehow got my mom's phone number. I don't know
- 27:25how your son knows me this. That da da da da. My Mom's
- 27:32like, who the fuck are you? First of all, like, first
- 27:36of all, who are you? I don't know what you're talking about.
- 27:37YadA yeah, yeada. So my momld he goes, hey, this guy
- 27:40and by the way, I'm I'm literally camping with or I'm not camping.
- 27:42I'm up north at this lake house with my now beautiful wife and my father.
- 27:48It's like the friends, no joke. This is the first time they're
- 27:49meeting, you know. It's like a big deal to me, like,
- 27:51oh my wife, you know, my girlfriend that I'm thinking about potentially marrying
- 27:55someday. Yeahda YadA YadA, you know she mean my dad for the first
- 27:57time, blah blahlah, huge deal and all that stuff. And I'm sitting
- 28:00I'm like, what the fuck, Like, what are you talking about?
- 28:03So I call the guy and he goes, Charles, you owe me this,
- 28:07you owe me that, And I'm like, what are you talking?
- 28:10Goes the oven doesn't work. This doesn't work. I go whoa, whoa,
- 28:14whoa wa hold the fucking phone. I go the oven. He goes
- 28:18yeah, and he literally says, the top left corner oven will not turn
- 28:22on. Do you know what that's about? And I'm like, yeah,
- 28:25how about this. Look at my first lease with you we talked about I
- 28:27wrote that on their asshole. So then the guy goes. Then the guy
- 28:33all of a sudden, he's like flabber He's like cussing me out something.
- 28:36I'm just being calm. I'm a sinner and my dad here is this.
- 28:38He's laughing his ass off. He's like clearly like because you know, you
- 28:41know, he's like, oh, yeah, I remember when I was in
- 28:42your age, landlord's or assholes blah blah blah. So anyway, the guy
- 28:45just simply goes you owe me this amount of money. Either you pay that
- 28:49artist keep your deposit. And I'm like, I'm like, you're just gonna
- 28:53so wait. Either I pay you like it was like double what the deposit
- 28:56was, almost like like, so way, either I pay you that,
- 29:00or you're just gonna keep my deposit. Goes yeah, you just want to
- 29:02keep my deposit. He goes, well, I mean would help with some
- 29:03of the damage you caused. And I go all right, here's what we're
- 29:06gonna do, okay, and here's the Thankfully I studied media law a little
- 29:08bit because of what I was in college. He goes, I'm in the
- 29:11state of Wisconsin and so are you. So by this way, I am
- 29:12able to record this call without having a the other party's consent. So therefore
- 29:17I multiple witnesses saying this blah blah blah blah, goat to it. Either
- 29:19you ford me my money by tomorrow, no check, no nothing, I
- 29:22want Vemo or in the pink, or I will be essentially did the legal
- 29:26jargon left My dad just laughing his ass off, and the guy's like,
- 29:33you got nothing on me, Charles, and hen Han's up the phone and
- 29:37I'm like my dad is like is it, Like my dad goes, okay,
- 29:41that was this like a he goes like okay, like I know you
- 29:44kind of stood in film a little bit. Was this like a like a
- 29:45movie script theme. I'm like, no, God, no, why do
- 29:52I picture Danny de Vito saying that, I'll tell you what this guy looked
- 29:56like in a second, because it's nothing like that. I'm not even joking.
- 29:59Then after nothing, I get a notification on my phone from the bank,
- 30:06like a big deal for this guy. Like no, And I think
- 30:08what it was was like the building we lived in. Actually, I could
- 30:15say it was a Milwaukee like there's schools and everything like that. We were
- 30:18just the elevator with the Yeah, this is the one with the weird the
- 30:21old school, A certain location. I won't say, uh, a certain
- 30:25location that's haunted anyway. I'm really making a narrow down here. And it
- 30:30was in order for me to move into this apartment, I had to get
- 30:33multiple background checks because we lived by a school, and then they did background
- 30:37checks just on their own whim like okay, like, hey, I can
- 30:38preach it because it means I live in a safe building quote unquote, yeah,
- 30:42sure, I'll tell some of the stories that happened in that building a
- 30:45different time, but there was there was some nights I'm like, like,
- 30:49he will be like, hey, like when I come over for dinner,
- 30:52I'm like, how about come to your house your apartments? Like I don't
- 30:56think so not to night, but anyway, Yeah, literally, that afternoon,
- 31:00I get a duification. I think we're like literally like on the dock
- 31:03fishes like that, like something like like, hey, this much has been
- 31:07foreign into your bank. I'm like, oh, ge how funny that works.
- 31:08And then I literally I know joke. I swear to God. When
- 31:14I went back to school, even I'm moving in with Kaitlin, I literally
- 31:18went online. I filled out an applica cause they were free for that the
- 31:21building. Not even ten minutes later, I got an email due to full
- 31:27bookings, we cannot accept your application this time as this building is now full,
- 31:33which by the way, it wasn't because literally they raised rent for that
- 31:37building by like one hundred and twenty dollars for every room. So yeah,
- 31:41so I totally I totally get that side of other landlords. I'm not gonna
- 31:45lie, like I said, like say, which that was a bullshit like
- 31:48again, and this guy looked like, oh, okay, the landlord I
- 31:52had I won't say a way for Robbie's reasons looked like Kee and Michael Keay
- 32:00with a jaafar looking mustache, and I swear to God other than that nice
- 32:08guy. But every time I talked to him, his eyes were so bunked
- 32:12out out of his head. I thought he wasn't reenacting to see from fucking
- 32:15total recall when they're on bars. So it was like there are times like
- 32:21we like I would just start laughing, like when he was like like me,
- 32:27so you can imagine, I'm like, okay, doing you got nothing
- 32:30on me? Charles like like like like I'm like like like when he first
- 32:34said it outaway, I thought like Magneto, like Charles, we have the
- 32:37future, so and I'll never forget that. And the thing that like confused
- 32:45my mom and I for a one time. I was like, wait,
- 32:46how did he have or not even how do you even remember? Why did
- 32:49he call you? Yeah? Like it made no It made zero sense because
- 32:53anytime, anytime, anytime I needed help, anytime I needed help with them,
- 32:58I called them like trying to extore money from somebody. Yeah, I
- 33:04don't tend to target your poor mother. Little did he know he would she
- 33:07would rip his head off, Like, I mean, she would rip his
- 33:08head off. She's like, what are you talking about? That's sure you
- 33:12were on trucks. I'm seriously kid. Oh god, I thought of I
- 33:21haven't literally talked about that story in a long time. Oh man, good
- 33:25times. Anyway, Yeah, so fucking bitches makes you want to hit your
- 33:30finish air on the guy. Oh god, you want to go from the
- 33:35top rope and hit a fucking elbow dropper. As you can tell, I've
- 33:42been playing the ship out of w W two K two twenty four game spot
- 33:46to the show Thank You. Game is really good. It's not perfect.
- 33:50I've just done some glitchy shit. Like literally, in the first match my
- 33:57partner and I were playing, we were she was kicking my ass as Randy
- 34:00Orton, I, I don't know what the fuck she was beat my ass.
- 34:05But we took it to the outside and let me tell you, we
- 34:07saw some gluccy ship, like some actually just type ship because you know how
- 34:12you can like throw the weapons yep. So I had picked up the steel
- 34:16steps and you know how they have that V shaped wedge. Yes, I
- 34:23don't know why is it correct, Yes, yes, correct. Indeed,
- 34:28of course, indubitably, indubitably, indubitably, indubitably what the fuck was that
- 34:35my phone fell? Jesus was attached to a charger too, so it's lost
- 34:39ship. Anyway, I threw the steps and the wedge landed perfectly on her
- 34:46character, and it just did some weird ship where their body started doing some
- 34:51rag doll physics but was stuttering off the inside of a stair wedge v ship
- 34:57shaped looking ship, and she just started like scat skittering across the outside area
- 35:02towards the other corner, like the camera put pan back and everything. It
- 35:07was fucking disturbing. And then of course every time I go for the book
- 35:10shot lariat and the opponent is standing right at the ropes, it does some
- 35:15weird ship where you land on them but you're still doing your animation so bends
- 35:21and does all weird, ragged all shit, and then you miss the clothesline.
- 35:27That's ninety of the ship because I'm playing the my rise story right now
- 35:30and hard, and that's ninety percent of the damage I'm doing is like whiff
- 35:37and shit and them countering, or just me whiff and dives. Well,
- 35:40I do love how you can just equip anything you want to your character.
- 35:45You don't have to spend points on locking shit or whatever. Well, no,
- 35:47and that's why, And that's kind. That's kind I talk about too.
- 35:52It's it's games like this two K game. We're talking about this wrestling
- 35:58game, where this is the direction games need to go. I'm not just
- 36:04saying this because you and I are obviously fans of wrestling. It's I've been
- 36:09on here and I've spoken a nausea about the problem with games today is is
- 36:13live service bullshit which has proven not to work. I mean, if you
- 36:17don't believe me, literally listen to the most recent and again I my father
- 36:22in law. He says, it's not even a quote. He says this,
- 36:25and it's one of those things that it holds because like how many people
- 36:29really know? It's like, here's the question, how many CEOs do people
- 36:31really know other than like maybe the one maybe the company work for, or
- 36:37like the guys that are out there, like honestly, like like like I
- 36:40mean, I could probably go ask a person like, hey, who do
- 36:43you know that works at Disney and some some might say Bob Bicker because like
- 36:45Bob Biker is like a guy who's up in the forefront doing all that stuff,
- 36:50you know what I mean. But like, but who's really at the
- 36:52table? Yeah? Yeah, but do you really because you don't know who's
- 36:57running these companies until like I mean literally until shit hits the fan in the
- 37:00negative way. But like the game, like Suicide Squad, they literally had
- 37:05their quarterly financial whatever it was, and they said Suicide Squad was not did
- 37:10not meet expectations upon release, and it's like, no shit, Sherlock.
- 37:16The game was delayed twice because first you were explaining the reason why. First
- 37:22second was because it was like a whole year because the trailer came out and
- 37:24everyone and you literally you didn't even hide the live service shit. You literally
- 37:30like, Hi, Hi, Patrick, would you like to play a video
- 37:35game where you have to use the dc IP? I mean cool? And
- 37:38you get to play as members of the Suicide Squad. Now, don't get
- 37:44me wrong, we know you've been asking for a Superman game or potentially another
- 37:46Batman game, which by I frollo, if I mentioned the company that literally
- 37:50essentially revolutionized video games in third person for the next fifty years called rock stead
- 37:54he's making this. Yeah, so we're gonna actually make a game where you
- 37:59don't play bad Man, but you play the Suicide Squad. So think there's
- 38:01a vast majority of different characters to pick from. So we're to give you
- 38:05Harley Quinn, obviously a fan favorite. She's a little bit psychotic, but
- 38:07she can do almost anything. We're going to give you a dead Shot,
- 38:10a guy who could literally shoot you. Know, he can literally shoot you
- 38:14and you're not even the same room, but he could somehow find a way
- 38:15to reject it off a or overpowered. Okay. Secondly, we're gonna give
- 38:21you Captain Boomerang, a guy who uses boomerangs to kill you. See I
- 38:27actually kind of like boomerangs. That kind of like, uh, you can
- 38:30throw him and they come back. That's pretty cool. Yeah. Yeah,
- 38:31and then we're gonna give you King Shark, this giant, big ass god
- 38:36of the way who eats people and has super strangth at speed. And yeah,
- 38:42so you know you can use dead Shot or Harley Quinn. But hey,
- 38:43you know what, I want to hold on, hold on, hold
- 38:45on, I want to tell you the best part. He's a giant shark.
- 38:47He said, He's a shirt giant walking sharks, A giant shirt.
- 38:52Yeah sounds amazing. I want to tell you something, So you describe how
- 38:58you want to talk about Captain Boomerang. You want how about King Chuck?
- 39:00Do you want to make those characters even better? Make them better? Yeah,
- 39:07make him better? How about we give him guns? Oh? Well,
- 39:13I mean because Captain Boomerang needs to use an AR fifteen and King shure
- 39:17Bo well, he well, he does, he does. But we really
- 39:23think you would enjoy him using a sniper rifle. Does it shoot boomerangs out
- 39:28of this sniper? No? No, no, no, no no,
- 39:30it just it just shoots bullets. Why wouldn't you use boomer Okay, okay,
- 39:34but if you want to, okay, but if you want, if
- 39:36you pay an extra twenty five ninety five, we'll let you have that Captain
- 39:38Boomerang gun. Have not a skin of like Captain Boomerang. I'll have a
- 39:42skin of the Joker, which, by the way, you can't play as
- 39:44a Joker, but you can have the Joker skin on your Captain Boomerang gun.
- 39:49But why would I'm sorry, maybe I missed something. Why would the
- 39:53skin be for somebody that's not in the don'torry about that. Let me put
- 39:57you off for the quick if you have in the pre order of the game
- 39:59before came out, or if you paintash to thirty five ninety five. I
- 40:01don't know about the actual prices allegedly, but the pay of thirty five ninety
- 40:04five allegedly, We'll let you dress your kne shark up at Superman. Do
- 40:10I do I get to you? No? No, no, no no
- 40:13no you just you just no, you just you just You're just dressed up
- 40:15as a giant circus recast who shoots a sniper rifle. I keep I actually
- 40:25quit that long with that ship. That's pretty good. But the point I'm
- 40:30trying to make is, and that's why I'm enjoying too, Kate, is
- 40:35I really expect to make money off of that? Well? The problem was
- 40:37they there's the problem with the big these big people in the studios and CEOs
- 40:43who think that people want to keep playing live service, which is bullshit.
- 40:46The reason that games like Fortnite are so successful is because, for one,
- 40:50it's free, which is the first kept suicide squad to get all the just
- 40:54the base game is like seventy dollars, which is fucking insane. Yeah,
- 40:59and then the other one is like one hundred dollars, which you don't get
- 41:01that much more. Again, that's what I've read and people complain about,
- 41:05but it's like, what do you pay for Fortnite? You don't pay for
- 41:07anything that gives you an advantage. All you pay for is, oh,
- 41:10hey, Patrick, there's a deal right now where it's like, hey,
- 41:14there's a movie. Come, there's a fucking uh wrestle Mania is coming out.
- 41:17So you know what, Patrick, you want to dress up as John
- 41:21Cena. You could dress up as John Cena and you can have your John
- 41:23Cena character who go team up with the Mandalorian Predator and fucking Rick from Rick
- 41:29and Morty and the Four. We can go shoot a bunch of dudes from
- 41:31teenagea Turtles, like yes, fuck, thank you. Oh I had to
- 41:36pay three dollars for that, or I had to play one hundred dollars to
- 41:38get enough coincidentent Okay, And that's why I'm excited for games like two K
- 41:43because they've had years where and if you've listened to the podcast, thank you.
- 41:46First off, you've heard me bitch about things like my factions and Ultimate
- 41:50Teams and my GM and all that. Not my GM, but like my
- 41:52whatever anything. Ultimate Team Base essentially it's long storry stories where you buy cards
- 41:59and you have to upat these cards in order to get them to be better.
- 42:01But you're playing against people around the world, or sometimes you're not,
- 42:05and it's like this is pointless. But where they tied to is like,
- 42:07oh, by the way, like for example, with Madden, oh hey,
- 42:10you want to have Terrell Owens or Walter Payne, Well you have to
- 42:14play Ultimate Team. Wait can I pull them out and play with online against
- 42:17my buddies like a franchise dinasymore. It's like we take years and years to
- 42:21like build our teams run super Bowl. No, you can only use the
- 42:22guy who have on your teams. I can't put this guy that I bought
- 42:28on my other team. No, you gotta put them on the team that
- 42:30you bought for the team that you're only allowed to play in that game mode,
- 42:32which is bullshit. But then two K, but then two K this
- 42:36year they heard that bullshit? Great, you know what? Fine, you
- 42:38want to have the guy that you won during our weekly bonus shit and our
- 42:44my faction you know mode? Great? Great, you have to earn enough
- 42:49coins in order to transfer them over or which they've done so far. The
- 42:52majority of those quote unquote unplayable characters, they just put them in the game
- 42:57anyway, just like there's like it's fucking creepy, like you know video games,
- 43:01like you know, there's the sports scans and all that ship with like
- 43:04where they get the guys looking like like it looks like they're actually like on
- 43:07the screen you're controying like that. They somehow with this game they literally screen
- 43:13grabbed or scan rather actual action figures. I mean you've seen this actual action
- 43:19figures and you can play as action figures, which is fucking weird. You
- 43:22see all the fucking like you see the actual space in between their arms and
- 43:24shoulders and the fucking night's it's it's terrifying, but it's like it works.
- 43:30Yeah, like put that in the fucking video game. Why why not?
- 43:34Right? What I mean interesting nobody, but it works. And that's the
- 43:39you know, and then I'd like to say this was my faction or whatever,
- 43:43like at least that's not the whole game, you know what I mean,
- 43:46No, which is what most games are due. Right at least there's
- 43:51like all this other content there, you know, that's fun. I like
- 43:55a good little RPG and when it's like tied to a dope resting simulator,
- 44:00which they like, you can do everything, like you can do just about
- 44:04anything you can want to do, Like I was lighting tables on fire,
- 44:07I was jumping off of you know, ladders onto the fucking shit, and
- 44:14it was. It was a good old time. And then of course the
- 44:15customization for the move sets and shit. You know, I do gotta say
- 44:22I like the combo system that they added, you know what I mean,
- 44:24where you can actually like string a combo together, and then there's a whole
- 44:30guessing game as to the defense of like which button are they gonna press?
- 44:34If you can match at blocke and shit like that. Right, it's pretty
- 44:37cool. I like it. I think it's a good, good tweak and
- 44:40there's a bunch of shit that you can do in there. It's just nice
- 44:45that like. And the reason they did is because enough people complaned, which
- 44:51and this is the thing people forget, like us consumers, which we'll get
- 44:54to the other thing I really want to talk about a little for a little
- 44:57bit today, us consumers we do have a voice, Like there's a reason
- 45:01why the suicide squaking, which I talked about a few weeks ago, and
- 45:05I'm starting to repeat myself, but like it has gotten so much negativity that
- 45:08like the fact that, like you, people are going online and broadcasting,
- 45:12the fact that the three other games that rock Steady produce one like what almost
- 45:20ten nine, ten years ago. I was, Yeah, I was a
- 45:22sophomore in college when Arkha Knight came out. Christ It's crazy to say that
- 45:25when Arkham Knight came out and that has more people playing that than a new
- 45:30game that just came out, Or you have games like two K which is
- 45:37doing very well. I don't know the numbers, but then you go online
- 45:39and you look at mind people playing Fight Forever and it's laughable. That's literally
- 45:45like for eight people. It's it's more it's I mean honestly, like I
- 45:50mean, like, I'm proud of the of the podcast so far. I
- 45:52want to obviously do what I have can to grow and I know a lot
- 45:54of that takes more work, which I need to do that on my own
- 45:57enit to make it where I wanted to go. But when there's certain weeks
- 46:01where the podcast is being the amount of people playing Fight Forever, it's just
- 46:07like like, hey, well, I mean it's a tiny cat. But
- 46:14I'll take I'll take the win, you know. But it's like, come
- 46:17on, guys, like what the fuck? But again, it's it's one
- 46:21of those things where it's like it's I'm not gonna say it's not that hard,
- 46:25but like, if you just take the time and just listen to your
- 46:29audience, the ship works. Again, there's a reason why we've talked about
- 46:32it here. The game like Hell Divers, simple concept, but what is
- 46:37it is, literally, other than maybe Power World, the biggest game in
- 46:39the world right now, and it's the most simplest. I mean, it's
- 46:45fallen way off, but it's still got hundreds of thousands of people playing it.
- 46:51And it's only by the way, Power is only a beta. It's
- 46:52only a beta. Someone actually comes out like it's just who knows where it
- 46:57can go? But yeah, it's it's it's it's ship like that were And
- 47:00unfortunately, what it all comes out to with your landlord or the company whatever,
- 47:05my you're okay, my old landlord. Do you see those of these
- 47:08game companies and shit like that, it's just greed and oftentimes what happens,
- 47:14thankfully, you know, not always, but thankfully in our cases. I
- 47:15mean, I can't say for you yet, and I hope it works out
- 47:19for you. It comes back to bite them in the ass, and I'm
- 47:22glad it does. Oh my god, I'm so glad you said that,
- 47:23because earlier I forgot to mention that, like, what's really gonna happen here
- 47:28in the situation is that like a bunch of people are gonna move out,
- 47:30because we're talking about college students that are on you know, produced budgets,
- 47:36budgets right, or like you know, young professionals like me. I mean,
- 47:38there's a bunch of young people. There's some old people, Like there's
- 47:42some old folks not gonna lie, but who knows if they're like gonna put
- 47:45up with it because it's like a twenty percent increase And that's the thing.
- 47:49It's like they lurk people in a lot of people that are living here,
- 47:52like had moved in when it first was here and there was a reasonable rent
- 47:57situation, which even back then not very reasonable, but like after the first
- 48:01year it was a much lower increase to the rent, and then this year
- 48:07it's like up, like are you kidding me? Yeah? Everything, but
- 48:14why because oh well, cost of cost of everything's going up? Well,
- 48:19yeah, I understand that, but it's not just for you because like this
- 48:22is like what it's like like, oh, hey, like the cost of
- 48:24this has gone up, so we gotta do this. It's like okay,
- 48:25so then don't be upset when people literally leave and then don't side in to
- 48:30join your thing. But right, God, it's just it just amazes me,
- 48:38like how dumb some people can be. But yeah, it's just it
- 48:44has never ceased to amaze. Nope, there's I mean, there's plenty of
- 48:47dumb. There's plenty of dumb out there. There's plenty of bullshit, there's
- 48:52plenty of you know, ship to get fucking pissed off about. But you
- 49:00know what you gotta do. You gotta with the punches. You just gotta
- 49:02keep you just gotta keep swimming, man, you just gotta keep swimming.
- 49:07Just like in that movie, what was it? Fucking can't somebody do with
- 49:13a fish? I can't find I can't seem to find the answer. Do
- 49:23you do you see what? Do you see what I ride back? Do
- 49:27you see what I did there? I saw it. I know what you
- 49:30did. I know what you did last summer? How do you know?
- 49:37Is it possible I killed anyone who knew anyway? Is that what is it
- 49:45that my diner is there? Like? Is there like a power converter behind
- 49:47you going power it up? That's my laptop I have, that's your That's
- 49:52that's not my laptop, that's my place Bo's floaded three ship. I'm sorry
- 49:58it's so loud. You're fine. I can I didn't impost baby anyway.
- 50:04So really quick. It really sounds like it's like about to explode. Uh
- 50:09hold on, well we can actually get out of here because I was actually
- 50:17gonna sign up here in a minute. Because I know it's it's pretty late
- 50:21for you. I know you had a long day as well. I appreciate
- 50:22you coming on so quick. Update about next week's episode. I'm not sure
- 50:27what's gonna come out. I will be away next week, but I'm probably
- 50:31just gonna come home next Sunday, and then once I forgot how I'm gonna
- 50:34get my dog back home, they'll probably do a podcast and I'll probably do
- 50:36like a recap of our trip or what's coming up and stuff like that.
- 50:38So thinking for that, I do, and I do promise June too.
- 50:42Saper View is coming soon. I just have not had time to see it
- 50:45myself. I really want to see it. I'm thankfully I've avoided spoilers.
- 50:49Then listen to Gleb. That's the only thing I've seen, so I have
- 50:55no cool what that means, but I'm looking forward to it because I mean
- 50:59again, when people were telling me this is the best thing since Empire strikes
- 51:00back, It's like it's phenomenon. That's what I'm saying, Like, all
- 51:04right, man, that's high as Nicholas Cage would say, that's high praise.
- 51:07So before you know, uh, his apartment comes the sequel to Oppenheimer,
- 51:12Do you have Anthony want to say, my good friend, that was
- 51:15too good? Thank you. If I don't make it at anyway, that
