- Chris Laker: You notice when watching the video that it looks like I'm reading. My eyes are moving around like I'm reading. And I'm don't know how to stop that. I'm not reading. I'm reading the headlines, those I'm reading, but I am not reading a a script. This isn't scripted. I hope you can tell that. If this was a script, it'd be a bad script. Although I don't have a lot of time to write a script, it would be impressive that there was even a script. even if it was this script, which is not great. But I'm not reading even if it looks like that. I'm not reading a teleprompter like Ed Sheeran reading a apology that not much of an apology. ⁓ enough people talking about that. I've talked about that. Not trying to backdoor into Ed Sheeran. I wasn't thinking about Ed Sheeran until I said teleprompter. Just in case anybody was thinking that, I'm not reading my eyes just move around a lot and it's weird and I didn't know that before. Now I know. I'm not camera trained. Most of my acting experience is on the stage. I'm a theater actor. I've been in a few movies, yes. I'm in the Marvel universe. I've covered that. But my roots, they're on that stage. I guess I don't do it if I'm on camera talking to a person the eyes darting around thing. It might be happening right now. I'm trying not to look at myself. I hate looking at myself. Not that I'm like the worst looking guy in the world. A lot of things can go wrong with the face. I avoided most of them. Still I have issues and staring at myself is not fun. They're trimming the palm trees outside. They've got to cut down the dead palms. They gotta go up on a lift so they don't fall on people when they're walking by. A lot of maintenance with the palm trees. I love the palm trees. They're not native to California. People from California love to tell you that. Or just people that have been here and know that fact think they're the only one who know that fact. I know they're not native to here. Doesn't matter. I enjoy seeing palm trees because I am from a place of no palm trees. So it means I've made it to palm trees. That's why I'm gonna go to the beach later. Well I am from a place with a beach. Staten Island has a beach. Not as nice as the beach of Los Angeles. I know even these beaches, people like, ⁓ these are trash, you gotta go to this place or that place. It looked nice to me. And I'm not like laying on I'm gonna be running on the beach. On the path on the beach. Not in the sand. Not rocky training. But I do love that beach. I love California. Been here like eight years now. That's like going to college twice. Well, not for me. Took me longer to get through college than four years. ⁓ yeah, for a bachelor's degree. It's not like I went for a long time and I became a doctor. I just went for a long time and ended up with an accounting degree. And there was a there's a bit of a break in there. Don't need to get into my educational background. My degree is worthless now. I don't believe anybody would hire me with that resume gap. It's hard to justify a fifteen year resume gap. I was just taking a little time. W to work on myself. And now I'm ready. I'm back. I'm sure some things have changed. I've forgotten everything I've ever known. But come on, give me a job. Okay, I'm gonna get to the news. That's my job now. I'm not looking for a job. I'm not going back to accounting. They can't make me they won't accept me. I also won't accept them. I am a journalist. Here is the news. Mississippi police make second arrest in death of black woman found hanging from tree. When this woman was first found, the police said they thought it might be a suicide, which sounded insane. Sounded like you don't feel like looking for anybody or you don't want this to be a homicide. It is a homicide. They've arrested two people. They don't know what the motive is, why you would kill somebody by hanging them. That is pretty fucked up. Hopefully they're arresting the right people and they'll find a third suspect and figure out why the fuck somebody would hang a person from a tree. At first people thought this was a racially motivated killing. The two people they've arrested are black. Whoever the murderers are, it's a sick thing to do to hang somebody from a tree. And usually you murder somebody, you'd like to get rid of the body. So that's the opposite of getting rid of the body. It doesn't even make sense, logistically, for a murder. Harvey Weinstein is sentenced to fifteen years after he was convicted of sex crime against former Project Runway production assistant. I didn't realize he was assaulting PAs. PAs, that's the lowest job on a set. I've done this job on movies and TV shows. You get paid shit, you get treated like shit. Producers talk to you like you're dirt. And then you also have to have Harvey Weinstein pawing at you. I think they at least get health insurance now. When I was a PA, you did not get health insurance unless you worked on Law and Order. I almost got a job on Law Law and Order S V U and I didn't take it. 'Cause I got offered another job that I thought was better and it wasn't. I was a PA on a Harvey Weinstein movie. I never saw him, he never came to set. But I always heard he was an awful person. ⁓ hopefully he'll die in prison. Simone Biles says three masked men stole luxury sports car from Chicago area home. Okay. I I like Simone Biles, fine, as much as I like any Olympian gymnast. Sounds like it was not stolen from like from her. The masked men probably got caught on a security camera and they stole the car. You have a luxury sports car, people want to steal it. There's a movie called Gone in Sixty Seconds all about it. So I say, get yourself a nice camera. Not that people don't steal cameras, but there's so many of them. Why are they going to go all the way out to your house for it? You know, they could just walk down the street and get a Camry. They are a nice car. I don't have one myself right now, but I I do have a Toyota. I would accept Toyota's sponsorship of this show. I'd like a car out of it though. And money. And ⁓ I was trying to think of something else and get out of Toyota. I don't think there really is. I they make robots. Yeah, throw in a robot. I'll take a Camry, fully loaded, hybrid, a robot and The cash we're gonna have to negotiate. I'm sorry, Simone Miles, that your car got stolen. I'm sure it was insured. Go get yourself a new car. I don't understand why that's ⁓ a news headline on Reddit News sorted by hot. That's where I get all the news. Reddit News sorted by hot. Ice officer who shot man in Austin was issued a body cam but wasn't wearing it. What's the difference? Why even wear it? Because I said they won't release body cam footage unless it benefits them. He could wear it, not wear it. It it's useless. No one cares at ICE. It's not like he was walking out and someone said, Hey, where's your body camera? You know, it's really important that we are accountable to the people when we're doing our work. This is an important job that we take seriously. It's more likely somebody stopped to say, hey. You forgot your wraparound sunglasses. You don't want to be out in those streets without your wraparound sunglasses. DoorDash to pay a hundred and thirty one million dollars for underpaying delivery workers in New York City. This is the problem with the tips going through a system. If it was all cash tips, I know it's inconvenient to have cash. I think all these delivery people should be getting tipped in cash though. Just have some cash. The problem is now you have no choice because the delivery person, if they're not getting tipped up front, they're like, fuck this guy, even if you plan on tipping in cash. So there's no cash tipping now. You can never trust DoorDash or Uber Eats or whatever company comes next to pay the workers fairly. So it's gotta be put back in the hands of the people. Cash tips. I guess it is better than being a serial killer, but it is somehow more disturbing. But it is better. You're not as bad as a serial killer of people. But I would read about the serial killer. This I don't want to read about. Man missing after repetition. Reportedly jumping off cruise ship bound for California. And there's video footage. He wasn't pushed. He jumped. And I think he was there with his family, like his wife and his kid. That's a weird way to kill yourself on vacation with your family. Unless it was a real spur of the moment decision. Or he got really drunk and thought, hey, I'll go swimming in the ocean. That'll be fun. I say never go on a cruise ship, but if you do, stay away from that edge. Shiny hackers say they breached FBI, stole data on Bureau employees. Did Cash Patel leave his password on a post-it on his desk? Or did Elon Musk cut back on cybersecurity when he was in there with his teenage groipers? Everybody's been hacked at this point. All our driver's licenses are in Russia, so hey FBI, you're also now hacked. ⁓ sorry. Now the FBI has to find these hackers and they're still trying to find Savannah Guthrie's mother.
