- 0:00Speaker 1: Attack on Titan has got to be one of the
- 0:01Speaker 1: best anime of this generation. The first time I watched it,
- 0:05Speaker 1: I was skeptical. I hadn't been keeping up with it,
- 0:07Speaker 1: but had definitely seen about it. Then a friend of
- 0:10Speaker 1: mine turned me onto it, asking if i'd ever seen
- 0:13Speaker 1: it before. Considering we were planning to do a sort
- 0:15Speaker 1: of tabletop campaign that centered around the series, I decided
- 0:19Speaker 1: to binge it to get an understanding of what it
- 0:21Speaker 1: was about. What started as a chore for a friend
- 0:24Speaker 1: became a personal discovery of one of my favorite anime
- 0:28Speaker 1: of all time. The idea of a giant meat mech
- 0:32Speaker 1: blew my mind. From that point on, I eagerly awaited
- 0:35Speaker 1: the next episode until the very last special aired and
- 0:38Speaker 1: the ending of the story was shown. But one thing
- 0:41Speaker 1: about the ending of Attack on Titan that excited me
- 0:43Speaker 1: was that it was left open. As of now, there's
- 0:46Speaker 1: no plans for a sequel series, but that ending leaves
- 0:49Speaker 1: so much open for us that I can't help but
- 0:51Speaker 1: want to try and continue the story. So indulge me
- 0:54Speaker 1: today if you would, as I bring you back to
- 0:57Speaker 1: a world long thought to have ended. Welcome to the Amaggi.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Only twenty five percent of our viewers are subscribed, So
- 1:03Speaker 1: if you're a fan of the video, please like in
- 1:05Speaker 1: double check if you are subscribed. And with that out
- 1:07Speaker 1: of the way, let's get into the video. My name
- 1:10Speaker 1: is Terence Creed, but my company calls me Tell. The
- 1:13Speaker 1: world has ended twice already, and it's looking like it'll
- 1:16Speaker 1: end the third time. The skies were a dusty brown,
- 1:19Speaker 1: with only the barest hint of blue. A cloudless sky,
- 1:22Speaker 1: the sun beating down upon the desert below. The wind
- 1:25Speaker 1: stirred up a dust cloud as a helicopter hovered above it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: A man in a bulletproof vest and desert fatigue sat
- 1:32Speaker 1: his head back, catching some z's that his profession made
- 1:35Speaker 1: a rarity. And even then, when he wasn't fighting, he
- 1:38Speaker 1: was fighting, his eyes darting behind his lids as dreams
- 1:42Speaker 1: and memories collided to give birth to trauma anew with
- 1:45Speaker 1: some imaginary explosion. His head shot forward. Looking down, he
- 1:49Speaker 1: found his hand resting on the grip of his carbine.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Slowly he moved it away and let out a sigh. Oh, looky,
- 1:55Speaker 1: lookye baby's finally awake. Good morning. The words of another
- 1:59Speaker 1: soldier came Tell flipped him off. Are we back to base, yet,
- 2:02Speaker 1: he asked. The soldier raised his arms as if to
- 2:05Speaker 1: guide tells eyes to the surrounding interior of the helicopter,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I should think, not seeing that his bud was getting
- 2:11Speaker 1: fed up with the playful, antagonistic behavior, the soldiers sat
- 2:15Speaker 1: down with a sigh. Nah, we should be back in
- 2:18Speaker 1: about thirty he said. It had been a standard training
- 2:20Speaker 1: routine that they were required to undergo to maintain a
- 2:23Speaker 1: state of readiness. As the helicopter passed through the skies,
- 2:26Speaker 1: its tail bore the flag of Marley. A quick history,
- 2:29Speaker 1: lesson the world you knew. The world of Titans has
- 2:33Speaker 1: faded from memory. Some don't even believe that the Titans
- 2:36Speaker 1: ever existed. The consensus is that they were just a
- 2:39Speaker 1: metaphor used by our ancestors to describe the uncontrolled and
- 2:43Speaker 1: unbeatable concept of war that erased eighty percent of the
- 2:47Speaker 1: population one thousand years earlier. After the end of the world,
- 2:51Speaker 1: repopulation became the number one priority. The fear of extinction
- 2:55Speaker 1: that mankind might cease to exist might leave little to
- 2:58Speaker 1: no trace of itself on the planet led to panic
- 3:01Speaker 1: not just among the general populaces, but upon nations who
- 3:04Speaker 1: feared their way of life might become extinct too, and
- 3:07Speaker 1: with the ground trampled and burned by Titan foot, entire
- 3:10Speaker 1: forests had been uprooted, farmlands scorched, and only flat barren
- 3:15Speaker 1: wastes left behind. Food was scarce, but people like cockroaches
- 3:19Speaker 1: survived as things slowly became easier, as new forests grew
- 3:24Speaker 1: and new farmlands were planted, As new generations were born,
- 3:27Speaker 1: the nations slowly rebuilt, and their fear of extinction gave
- 3:31Speaker 1: way to ambitions of expansion. Countries reformed, some under new names,
- 3:36Speaker 1: others under old. The shape of the borders, the meaning
- 3:39Speaker 1: of constitution all changed. National security became the big word,
- 3:43Speaker 1: using paranoia to farm up loyalty and patriotism. This mixed
- 3:48Speaker 1: with the threats that still existed in the North due
- 3:50Speaker 1: to the Yegorists, perhaps the most hateful group on the
- 3:53Speaker 1: face of the earth, saw the birth of new wars.
- 3:56Speaker 1: The advent of the nuclear weapon had changed the political landscape.
- 4:00Speaker 1: No longer was it about whose army was bigger, but
- 4:03Speaker 1: whose weapons had the farthest reach, and Eldia got their
- 4:06Speaker 1: hands on one. Hatred mixed with the means to end
- 4:09Speaker 1: any life you deemed unnecessary, saw the concept of nuclear
- 4:12Speaker 1: war as an excuse to euthanize every soul that their
- 4:16Speaker 1: master Erin had failed to do. Zelots to the end.
- 4:19Speaker 1: They wasted no time finishing what he started. That happened
- 4:22Speaker 1: about two hundred years ago. The flames of war cooled off.
- 4:26Speaker 1: In the ashes and the dust left behind by nuclear fallout,
- 4:30Speaker 1: a new world rose, one that had been cast into
- 4:33Speaker 1: an endless nuclear winter, a thimble winter, as the people
- 4:36Speaker 1: called it, that would slowly return to sunlight and warmth.
- 4:40Speaker 1: When the light returned and everyone could see friend and
- 4:43Speaker 1: foe alike, the true cost of that seventy two hours
- 4:46Speaker 1: of war was felt once again. The world was nearly
- 4:49Speaker 1: wiped out. At least half of the population eradicated, and
- 4:53Speaker 1: the island kingdom of Paradise was no more. The name
- 4:56Speaker 1: of Eldia would never rise again, and people celebrated. The
- 4:59Speaker 1: devil of the island had been exercised. But life, as
- 5:03Speaker 1: well as people liked to live, in cycles, and once
- 5:06Speaker 1: again what was the fear of extinction, gave way to
- 5:09Speaker 1: an era of expansion. The world was hardly the same
- 5:12Speaker 1: as it had been. History was practically oral now, as institutions,
- 5:16Speaker 1: museums and anything else telling us how long we had
- 5:19Speaker 1: lived and the things we had experienced had seemingly burned
- 5:22Speaker 1: away with the former world. This was a new world,
- 5:25Speaker 1: a new people, and despite the newness of it, it
- 5:28Speaker 1: was terrifyingly similar to the last two. Marley once again
- 5:31Speaker 1: rose to independence, its people rediscovering old technologies that had
- 5:35Speaker 1: pushed their world forward. And again national security was the
- 5:39Speaker 1: call to arms for patriots. Tell was one who answered,
- 5:43Speaker 1: and since then he'd been risen through the ranks until
- 5:45Speaker 1: now staff sergeant. Countries were now formulating policies, talks with
- 5:50Speaker 1: each other, and attempting to mitigate further bloodshed for fear
- 5:53Speaker 1: that their world might end a third time. I do
- 5:56Speaker 1: declare that the world has already ended twice, came the
- 5:59Speaker 1: voice of Marley's Prime Minister to his people on March ninth,
- 6:03Speaker 1: the day dedicated International Peace Day. We cannot allow it
- 6:06Speaker 1: to end thrice, for if it ends a third time,
- 6:09Speaker 1: I am sure that we shall not have a fourth chance.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So now I'm sure you're wondering, if the world is
- 6:15Speaker 1: so craving peace, then why is Marley's military flying over
- 6:19Speaker 1: the midd East deserts. Therein lies the secret. Not every
- 6:22Speaker 1: nation could rebuild after d D two, or as you
- 6:26Speaker 1: might call it, the second Doomsday. Among those nations were
- 6:29Speaker 1: a few fairly poor nations in the Mideast, which left
- 6:32Speaker 1: the land a sprawling wasteland of lawlessness where the worst
- 6:36Speaker 1: of the worst went to find anarchy and attempt to
- 6:39Speaker 1: form their own nations. While wars among nations had ceased,
- 6:43Speaker 1: a new era downned a war on terror zealots and
- 6:47Speaker 1: those who somehow survived the destruction of Paradise. Dangerous ideals
- 6:51Speaker 1: began to spread, and fears that the devils of Paradise
- 6:54Speaker 1: had survived. Nobody really took it seriously. That was until
- 6:58Speaker 1: rumors began to sp Aaron Jaeger lives, posters, rallies, calls
- 7:04Speaker 1: to action. The Mid East was stirring up trouble, and
- 7:07Speaker 1: those who had nothing in their lives traveled to the
- 7:09Speaker 1: sands to find meaning under this newly returned revolutionary This
- 7:13Speaker 1: drew the attention of Marley and many of its allies,
- 7:16Speaker 1: who began to send troops in to investigate the rumors
- 7:19Speaker 1: and put down any threats to world peace. So far,
- 7:22Speaker 1: all they had experienced were a few hit and run
- 7:24Speaker 1: style attacks by these jegorists but nothing more than that.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Marley was convinced that there was no erin Yeager. They
- 7:31Speaker 1: were content to sweep up the mess and return home,
- 7:34Speaker 1: which is what they were in the middle of doing now.
- 7:37Speaker 1: The helicopter landed in forts Lava, a joint air base
- 7:40Speaker 1: between Marley and its allies. The last sweep is about
- 7:43Speaker 1: to conclude, tells subordinate told him as they exited the helicopter.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Reflecting on these things, after this ends, Marley and a
- 7:50Speaker 1: select few other nations are planning on working on a
- 7:52Speaker 1: rebuilding strategy to help the Mid East Alliance get back
- 7:55Speaker 1: on its feet. Currently it's the wild West out there,
- 7:58Speaker 1: but if we can reinstitute some of order with support,
- 8:01Speaker 1: they should be able to deal with any stragglers on
- 8:03Speaker 1: their own. These words were sweet to Tell's ears. He
- 8:07Speaker 1: was ready to get out of this god forsaken desert.
- 8:10Speaker 1: As night came, everyone began to wind down. The night
- 8:13Speaker 1: shift had taken over and was keeping watch. Tell attempted
- 8:16Speaker 1: to sleep, but there was still a bit of excitement
- 8:18Speaker 1: keeping him awake. Looking at a picture, he saw himself
- 8:21Speaker 1: standing next to a woman holding a little boy, Alicia Nicholas. Dad.
- 8:26Speaker 1: He's coming home. Over the stillness of night, a cold
- 8:29Speaker 1: air blew, but in the span of a few seconds
- 8:32Speaker 1: there was the warmth and heat and the rising of
- 8:34Speaker 1: the sun. Dawn. Thel sat up in his bed and
- 8:37Speaker 1: looked out toward the light that rose sunrise. Have I
- 8:40Speaker 1: been staring at this picture all night? He questioned? Looking
- 8:43Speaker 1: at his watch, he saw that it said one twenty
- 8:45Speaker 1: one a m. Getting out of his cot, he left
- 8:48Speaker 1: the barracks along with the others who were confused at
- 8:50Speaker 1: this sudden rising of the sun. The light began to
- 8:53Speaker 1: die down as a distant rumble of thunder rolled, and
- 8:55Speaker 1: then a warm heat blew over them. What the hell's
- 8:58Speaker 1: going on? Tell a question? That wasn't the rising sun?
- 9:02Speaker 1: That seemed like a distant explosion. The light disappeared. After that,
- 9:06Speaker 1: some of the men stood around nuclear testing. One of
- 9:09Speaker 1: them asked, it can't be. They wouldn't do it this
- 9:11Speaker 1: close to a military bass, especially with the wind pushing
- 9:14Speaker 1: fallout in our direction. Maybe it's some sort of accident,
- 9:18Speaker 1: could be tell, stood silently, though deep in his gut
- 9:21Speaker 1: he felt something bubbling up. He felt as though what
- 9:24Speaker 1: they had just seen was more dangerous than anyone let on,
- 9:27Speaker 1: and that it wasn't the last they had seen of it.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Some confusion persisted for a while longer, but for the
- 9:33Speaker 1: most part they ignored it and prepared to return to bed.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Tell ended up back in his bunk, putting the frame
- 9:38Speaker 1: beside his bed. He stared at it silently until he
- 9:40Speaker 1: drifted off, but no more than a doze hit him
- 9:43Speaker 1: before he was awakened once more by the sound of
- 9:45Speaker 1: the bass alert sirens. Getting out of bed, he looked
- 9:49Speaker 1: around to see his men scrambling to get their pants
- 9:51Speaker 1: on and grab a bulletproof vest. He got out of
- 9:53Speaker 1: bed too, and grabbed his own vest and his carbine
- 9:56Speaker 1: before stepping out onto the base. What's happening, he asked
- 9:59Speaker 1: one of the soldiers rushing past him. The young man,
- 10:02Speaker 1: an analyst on the intelligence team, looked at him with
- 10:04Speaker 1: a terrified stare, eyes full of tears. Big, he said,
- 10:09Speaker 1: Big people, he said. As he ran past, the sound
- 10:12Speaker 1: of distant gunfire could be heard. Along with most of
- 10:15Speaker 1: his squad, he ran into the thick of battle. They
- 10:17Speaker 1: had been caught off guard. They didn't have time to
- 10:20Speaker 1: set up artillery. They were already surrounded. The Titans were
- 10:23Speaker 1: among them within their base. All they could do was
- 10:26Speaker 1: fire their guns. Tearing holes into the beasts as they
- 10:29Speaker 1: lumbered through. No matter what they did, though they could
- 10:31Speaker 1: not bring them down. Their bodies seemed to heal faster
- 10:34Speaker 1: than damage could be done. Even with their modern weaponry,
- 10:37Speaker 1: they could hardly do anything. Grenade launchers seemed the best
- 10:40Speaker 1: they could do. If it had only been one Titan,
- 10:43Speaker 1: it probably would have been easy to bring down. But
- 10:45Speaker 1: it wasn't just one. It was scores of Titans, each
- 10:49Speaker 1: one about fifteen meters tall. Tell joined into the fight
- 10:52Speaker 1: and attempted to fire at them, trying to bring them down,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but it was nothing. He could do nothing, and it
- 10:59Speaker 1: was only when he reeled other humans were busting through
- 11:01Speaker 1: along with these monsters that it got truly bad. These
- 11:05Speaker 1: Titans were just punching a hole. The spear followed the head,
- 11:08Speaker 1: and that long shaft that thrust the weapon forward was
- 11:11Speaker 1: made of humans, just like Tell, each one with a
- 11:14Speaker 1: sort of machine rifle in their hands. There was nothing
- 11:16Speaker 1: they could do, no cover to hide behind, because if
- 11:19Speaker 1: ever a spot got used to successfully defend, a Titan
- 11:23Speaker 1: would just rush over and crush it. There was no
- 11:26Speaker 1: hiding Tell and his squad ended up in full retreat.
- 11:29Speaker 1: That was until they found that the base was surrounded
- 11:31Speaker 1: on all sides. The Titans were now focusing on planes
- 11:34Speaker 1: and anti aircraft machinery. It was a slaughterhouse. What was this?
- 11:39Speaker 1: What were the Yegarists now capable of? Were these truly
- 11:42Speaker 1: the Titans of old? They were real? As the planes
- 11:46Speaker 1: and guns were destroyed, they heard a sound overhead like
- 11:49Speaker 1: a thousand angry bees. Looking up, they saw small aircraft
- 11:53Speaker 1: flying in formation. Are those crop dusters? One of Tell's
- 11:57Speaker 1: men asked. As they flew over, they began to release
- 12:00Speaker 1: a gas on them. Most of the men Tell included
- 12:03Speaker 1: fell to the ground, gasping, grabbing at their throats, felt
- 12:06Speaker 1: like they were suffocating. Their entire body began to burn.
- 12:09Speaker 1: The pain grew so intense that the soldiers began to
- 12:12Speaker 1: pass out one by one. As Tells struggled to maintain
- 12:15Speaker 1: his consciousness, he saw the massive feet of a titan
- 12:18Speaker 1: headed his way. His last thoughts before going out were,
- 12:21Speaker 1: this is it. We're gonna die. I'm never going to
- 12:24Speaker 1: see my wife and kid again. And after that he
- 12:27Speaker 1: passed out. As he lay there floating in the void,
- 12:29Speaker 1: his eyes opened when he saw a light awakening in
- 12:33Speaker 1: what seemed to be a cathedral he sat up the
- 12:35Speaker 1: stained glass windows and pews, sat before an altar and
- 12:38Speaker 1: a pulpit, where sitting on the steps leading up was
- 12:40Speaker 1: a single young man. Besides himself and this man, Tell
- 12:44Speaker 1: noticed that they were alone. Instinctively, Tell's hand went to
- 12:47Speaker 1: pull his pistol, but before he could draw it, the
- 12:50Speaker 1: man spoke, there's no point in even trying that, he said.
- 12:53Speaker 1: The man licked his finger and turned the page. Tell
- 12:56Speaker 1: then noticed that the pistol that had been on his
- 12:58Speaker 1: hip was now gone. Confused at how the man had
- 13:00Speaker 1: done this, he drew forward cautiously, taking the young man
- 13:04Speaker 1: in fully, he questioned, are you this Aaron Yeager we've
- 13:08Speaker 1: been hearing about. The young man looked up, Uh, yes
- 13:11Speaker 1: and no. Functionally I am, but technically the answer is no.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You see, Aaron Jaeger died over a thousand years ago.
- 13:19Speaker 1: If you were here now, he'd be a sack of
- 13:21Speaker 1: bones at best, a jar of dust and worst. Who
- 13:24Speaker 1: are you? Then, Tell asked, I'm the one you might
- 13:27Speaker 1: call founder, but uh, you can just call me Jeff. Jeff.
- 13:32Speaker 1: The name was underwhelming for a man supposed to be
- 13:34Speaker 1: the next incarnation of Aaron Yeager. I guess that's why
- 13:37Speaker 1: you let people call you erin, then, Tell asked. He nodded,
- 13:41Speaker 1: It's not an impressive name, I know. But then again,
- 13:44Speaker 1: what's a name but the word people used to define you?
- 13:47Speaker 1: What's in a name that I cannot change? Already? Tell
- 13:50Speaker 1: could understand that this young man considered himself an intellectual
- 13:54Speaker 1: and he hated that. Here's a word for you. Terrorist.
- 13:58Speaker 1: The man looked up from his book with an expression
- 14:00Speaker 1: that asked, are you serious? Terrorist? Huh? If that's the
- 14:04Speaker 1: word you want to call the man who will save
- 14:06Speaker 1: the world, tell scoffed, save the world, You're going to
- 14:09Speaker 1: throw it into chaos. Not really, I'm merely going to
- 14:13Speaker 1: use this power for what it was meant to do.
- 14:15Speaker 1: It was meant for destruction, Tel said, recalling some of
- 14:18Speaker 1: the old stories he'd heard about Titans. Assuming the Titans
- 14:21Speaker 1: were real, the stories behind them must have also been
- 14:24Speaker 1: true too. The devils of the islands, the one who
- 14:27Speaker 1: took the fruit of Satan and sold their soul for power.
- 14:30Speaker 1: How uneducated the man said to think such a power
- 14:34Speaker 1: as this could be called the seed of the devil.
- 14:37Speaker 1: How about the providence of God? I think that fits better.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Where am i? Tell asked, looking around he saw no guards.
- 14:44Speaker 1: You are exactly where I want you to be, the
- 14:46Speaker 1: man said. A moment later, Tell rushed forward, intent to
- 14:49Speaker 1: choke the life from him. There was nobody to stop him.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So if this guy were the so called reincarnation of
- 14:55Speaker 1: Aaron Jaeger, how hard would it be just to end him? Now?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Put down this toxic ideology. But as soon as he
- 15:01Speaker 1: got within arm's reach of Jeff, he stopped dead in
- 15:04Speaker 1: his tracks. He was unable to draw closer. The man
- 15:07Speaker 1: took a sip of hot cocoa and sat it back
- 15:10Speaker 1: down as he continued reading. Tell pulled back and tried again,
- 15:13Speaker 1: only to be hit by the same invisible wall. He
- 15:16Speaker 1: stepped back and tried to kick this wall, only for
- 15:19Speaker 1: his foot to pass through open air. Tell gently began
- 15:22Speaker 1: to put his hand through. There was no wall here.
- 15:24Speaker 1: He reached out and could touch the man's face. Please
- 15:28Speaker 1: stop doing that, he said, Now that he knew there
- 15:30Speaker 1: was no wall. He attempted to grab the man by
- 15:33Speaker 1: the throat, only for his hand to suddenly be severed
- 15:36Speaker 1: from his body. Tell reared back and screamed out in
- 15:39Speaker 1: pain as he fell to his knees, gripping the stump
- 15:41Speaker 1: the man looked at Tell with a scoff and a
- 15:43Speaker 1: shake of his head before closing the book. Quit whining.
- 15:46Speaker 1: It's not that bad, he said. Tell kept looking at
- 15:49Speaker 1: the severed limb and seemed like he might be ready
- 15:51Speaker 1: to go into shock. Letting out a sigh, Jeff raised
- 15:54Speaker 1: a finger and spun it through the air. Suddenly, new
- 15:57Speaker 1: bone and flesh formed over the stump, stopped the bleeding
- 16:00Speaker 1: and perfectly replacing the arm with a directly identical one.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Tell was confused, How did you I merely commanded your
- 16:08Speaker 1: body to do what I wanted it to. You know
- 16:10Speaker 1: I can do that right. Tell looked at the man
- 16:12Speaker 1: with a mix of confusion and terror. Seriously, who the
- 16:16Speaker 1: hell are you? Jeff stood from his seat and dusted
- 16:18Speaker 1: the creases of his pants, pulling his shirt top so
- 16:21Speaker 1: as to remain proper as I said, I'm Jeffrey Wallace,
- 16:25Speaker 1: and I am the Founding Titan. Tell sat there, confused, Still,
- 16:30Speaker 1: surely you know of the Founding Titan? Correct. In a moment,
- 16:34Speaker 1: a crash course of memories flung themselves through Tell's mind,
- 16:37Speaker 1: giving him a rundown on the history of the Founding
- 16:39Speaker 1: Titan enough to make him grip his skull and give
- 16:42Speaker 1: him a headache. Yeah, I'm the new one. Jeff took
- 16:45Speaker 1: up his mug and moved to one of the windows,
- 16:47Speaker 1: where he opened it, staring out at the big tree
- 16:50Speaker 1: of light at the center of the desert where the
- 16:52Speaker 1: cathedral sat. He looked back to Tell to measure his expression.
- 16:55Speaker 1: A part of Jeff loved to see people's reaction to this.
- 16:58Speaker 1: He wasn't the only the one having this exact same interaction.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Some took it easily, and others, like Tell now couldn't
- 17:06Speaker 1: believe what they were looking at. Where are we, he asked?
- 17:09Speaker 1: These are the paths, Jeff said, Where is this place? Mideast?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Have never seen that tree before. We're not in the
- 17:16Speaker 1: Mid East, We're not even on Earth anymore. This is
- 17:19Speaker 1: a different plane of existence, entirely, one set apart from
- 17:23Speaker 1: space and time as you know it, yet all the
- 17:25Speaker 1: same connected. Tell stood and walked to it. What is
- 17:29Speaker 1: that tree that's the coordinate, Jeff said, the place where
- 17:33Speaker 1: all paths connect, Yigdrasil, the world's tree. Every titan I've
- 17:37Speaker 1: ever made is connected to that place, and now, thanks
- 17:40Speaker 1: to your transformation, you are too my transformation. Tell asked, yes,
- 17:46Speaker 1: you have become one of my Titans. I'm not Eldian, though,
- 17:50Speaker 1: Tell said. Jeff laughed, and who said you needed to be?
- 17:54Speaker 1: The old stories Listen. Something the old stories leave out
- 17:58Speaker 1: is that nobody has ever seen the founding Titan unrestrained.
- 18:02Speaker 1: The first Titan wasn't an Eldian but a Marlean slave girl.
- 18:06Speaker 1: There's no requirement for anyone to be an Eldian. The
- 18:09Speaker 1: restrictions placed on the founder and all titan kind were
- 18:13Speaker 1: only there because the previous kings of Eldia, who enslaved Yamir,
- 18:17Speaker 1: as well as the previous founders all put them on.
- 18:20Speaker 1: In fact, the only reason that Aaron Yeager could be
- 18:23Speaker 1: stopped at all was because he limited his powers to
- 18:25Speaker 1: give his friends a chance to actually kill him. I
- 18:28Speaker 1: have no such restrictions upon myself. I'm free to manipulate
- 18:32Speaker 1: my body and the bodies of those under me as
- 18:35Speaker 1: I please. If that's true, then kill me now, Tell
- 18:38Speaker 1: said Jeff's face twisted in a mixture of surprised yet
- 18:41Speaker 1: confused amusement. Kill you why because I'll never join you?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Tell said, what makes you so sure? Because you're a
- 18:49Speaker 1: cruel monster, Tell said, would a cruel monster offer to
- 18:53Speaker 1: let you go free in peace. Tell stood silently, trying
- 18:56Speaker 1: to understand this. Listen, I'm not here to force you
- 18:59Speaker 1: to join me, but to offer you a special place.
- 19:03Speaker 1: All I ask is that you hear me out in
- 19:05Speaker 1: my entirety. We have all the time in the world
- 19:08Speaker 1: here to talk and contemplate. You're not missing anything. In
- 19:12Speaker 1: the short moment we've been here. That titan walking toward
- 19:15Speaker 1: you hasn't gotten more than half a millimeter closer. I'm
- 19:18Speaker 1: not here to kill or press gang you, but to
- 19:20Speaker 1: try and open your eyes to what I'm trying to do,
- 19:22Speaker 1: and try to offer you a chance to partake, a
- 19:25Speaker 1: chance to partake, partake in what Tell asked history. Jeff
- 19:29Speaker 1: looked out over the tree at all the branches. Each
- 19:32Speaker 1: moment more branches were forming as more people heard his
- 19:35Speaker 1: words and joined his cause. Imagine, if you will, Jeff said.
- 19:40Speaker 1: A disenfranchised orphan ends up touring the world with nothing
- 19:43Speaker 1: but his dog as companion. Believing he has no place
- 19:47Speaker 1: in this world, he diligently seeks meaning and purpose for
- 19:50Speaker 1: his life, eventually heading to Paradise Island hoping to understand,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and there he finds a massive tree, the likes of
- 19:56Speaker 1: which he'd never seen before, standing tall and within he
- 20:00Speaker 1: finds it his purpose. Jeff looked back in that tree,
- 20:04Speaker 1: I found something amazing, miraculous, a nexus of life itself.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It was alone, and so was I. And you know
- 20:11Speaker 1: what happens when two lonely creatures come together? What Tell asked?
- 20:15Speaker 1: They're not lonely anymore. One is the loneliest number in
- 20:19Speaker 1: the world. It's the only number considered lonely, because all
- 20:23Speaker 1: other numbers are made up of the number one connected.
- 20:26Speaker 1: And where there's more than one, where there's two, there's happiness.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Where there's two, there's strife, Tel said. Jeff looked back,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I see you've read Erwin Smith one of the few
- 20:36Speaker 1: ideologies to survive these thousand years. Humans will continue to
- 20:39Speaker 1: fight each other until the day there is only one
- 20:42Speaker 1: human or less. Jeff quoted. Kind of sad, right, that
- 20:46Speaker 1: hate exists in the same category where love does. Without
- 20:49Speaker 1: two people, there is no love. But conversely, without two people,
- 20:53Speaker 1: there's also no hate. The greatest conundrum in the world.
- 20:57Speaker 1: My predecessor believed that the only answer to attain peace
- 21:00Speaker 1: was for the number of humans to be reduced to zero.
- 21:03Speaker 1: And you Tell asked, what's your opinion on it. I
- 21:06Speaker 1: think the answer is forth there to be only one,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and so you plan to destroy the world just like
- 21:12Speaker 1: he did. Then Tell asked, jeff offered a laugh. No,
- 21:15Speaker 1: that would defeat the point. Then what are you doing?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Come on, Terence, you're a smart man. Can you not
- 21:21Speaker 1: figure it out? Tell was silent for a moment. Jeff
- 21:24Speaker 1: turned to face him. Fully, love requires more than one person,
- 21:28Speaker 1: but hate can only be mitigated if there's only one.
- 21:32Speaker 1: So how do you balance this out? How do you
- 21:34Speaker 1: get only love and no hate? How do you have
- 21:37Speaker 1: only one yet innumerable amounts of people at the same time?
- 21:41Speaker 1: Tell shook his head, giving up on the question. Simple,
- 21:45Speaker 1: you just make every person into one person. What do
- 21:48Speaker 1: you think the term unity means? For many parts to
- 21:51Speaker 1: make up a single whole, to become whole, all become one.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It's been the answer we've been searching for for thousands
- 21:59Speaker 1: of years, and yet it was always right there in
- 22:01Speaker 1: front of us. We just never had the means to
- 22:04Speaker 1: attain it. Not until now you have the means to
- 22:08Speaker 1: unify the world. Jeffrey nodded. He pointed out the window.
- 22:11Speaker 1: See that that's the answer. The coordinates where the many
- 22:15Speaker 1: paths become one, tel said, finishing the sentence. For so
- 22:20Speaker 1: long the power of the Titans was said to have
- 22:23Speaker 1: been given to mankind by the devil. But they only
- 22:26Speaker 1: said so because it fell into the hands of unworthy men,
- 22:29Speaker 1: men who used it to divide instead of unify. The
- 22:32Speaker 1: gift was corrupted. But this is not the power of
- 22:35Speaker 1: the devil. This is a gift from God. This is
- 22:37Speaker 1: his answer to our wars. Away for the many branches
- 22:41Speaker 1: to become a single tree. When all men are part
- 22:44Speaker 1: of this tree, their brotherhood will keep them together. They
- 22:47Speaker 1: will see themselves in each other. That which they love
- 22:50Speaker 1: will be reflected in the eyes of one another. Men
- 22:54Speaker 1: and women will find their soulmates by knowing exactly who
- 22:57Speaker 1: to look for. Children will be born to the proper parents,
- 23:00Speaker 1: who will love them accordingly. All things that bother you
- 23:03Speaker 1: about yourself can be wished away. The island we curse
- 23:07Speaker 1: as paradise, the island of devils, is itself a corruption
- 23:10Speaker 1: of what was always meant to be. The whole world
- 23:13Speaker 1: could be a paradise, a utopia, a world where there
- 23:17Speaker 1: is no suffering, where there is no pain, where growing
- 23:20Speaker 1: older is done with grace, no disease, death, only coming
- 23:23Speaker 1: when you're ready. Sounds too good to be true, Tel said,
- 23:27Speaker 1: And yet it is true. That's the power of the Titans, Terence,
- 23:31Speaker 1: the power to become perfect. Tell pulled closer to the
- 23:34Speaker 1: window and looked out of it. These Titans, though they're
- 23:37Speaker 1: a weapon of war. How can you bring peace when
- 23:40Speaker 1: you make war? Men of peace make war? Did you
- 23:43Speaker 1: think war was fought by only those who seek to
- 23:45Speaker 1: cause chaos? Why was it that you went to war, Terence?
- 23:49Speaker 1: Was it just to kill? I went to protect my family,
- 23:52Speaker 1: my nation. That's why I go to war. II. We're
- 23:55Speaker 1: more alike than it seems at first glance, Terence, Jeffrey said,
- 23:59Speaker 1: because your people make war and will fight to stop
- 24:02Speaker 1: the world I have planned from coming to pass, I
- 24:05Speaker 1: have to fight as well. I don't want to, but
- 24:08Speaker 1: I sadly must. And thus the power of the Titans
- 24:11Speaker 1: takes the form of weapons. But one day, when we're
- 24:14Speaker 1: all unified, when we're all children of a mirror, there
- 24:18Speaker 1: will be no need for war, for fighting, for killing,
- 24:21Speaker 1: and never again will man turn into a monster. Our
- 24:24Speaker 1: human forms will be perfect. I share this power freely.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Every single one of the Titans you have faced so
- 24:31Speaker 1: far are unlike the pure titans of history. Each is
- 24:34Speaker 1: fully conscious, fully aware, and fully able to return to
- 24:38Speaker 1: human form when they so desire. I do not force
- 24:41Speaker 1: their forms, nor torment them into a shape they dislike.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Their forms become as they please, and their shape only
- 24:47Speaker 1: regulated by the power I feel they need in that
- 24:50Speaker 1: moment to ensure they do not go overboard. You too, now,
- 24:54Speaker 1: thanks to the gas as you inhaled, possess this power.
- 24:57Speaker 1: But you, you, Terrans, are something special, truly unique. I've
- 25:02Speaker 1: seen your life from the past to the present since
- 25:05Speaker 1: you became one with the Coordinate. You take your role
- 25:08Speaker 1: as leader very seriously, and my men, despite my guidance,
- 25:12Speaker 1: could use some discipline. I am no warrior, merely a
- 25:15Speaker 1: scholar who stumbled into something and now use it in
- 25:18Speaker 1: a way I feel as wise. But wisdom alone does
- 25:21Speaker 1: not conquer the world. It takes strength to push an
- 25:24Speaker 1: army forward. It takes a powerful leader to know when
- 25:27Speaker 1: and how to weaken a fighting force with as few
- 25:30Speaker 1: casualties as possible. I need you to do that. If
- 25:33Speaker 1: you will have it, I will gladly make you a
- 25:35Speaker 1: member of the hand of God. The hand of God,
- 25:38Speaker 1: Terrence asked. It is a group of eight Titans, powerful
- 25:42Speaker 1: beings unique like my founding Titan. They're the strongest in
- 25:46Speaker 1: my arsenal, and due to a direct connection to my
- 25:48Speaker 1: Titan through birth, they possess similar powers. With these powers,
- 25:52Speaker 1: you yourself could spread the same gases that the crup
- 25:55Speaker 1: thusters spread. You could join people to the coordinate, just
- 25:58Speaker 1: as you were, and you won't be the only one
- 26:00Speaker 1: to do so. I am in the process of searching
- 26:03Speaker 1: for seven others besides you, who can handle this responsibility
- 26:07Speaker 1: to be the one to bring about this new world,
- 26:10Speaker 1: a world that will never end again, Jeff said. Terrence
- 26:13Speaker 1: thought about it. I don't know what you say sounds good,
- 26:16Speaker 1: but part of me isn't certain. Jeff offered an understanding smile.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I understand this is a big decision. You feel like
- 26:24Speaker 1: you'd be betraying your country by joining me, but I
- 26:26Speaker 1: guarantee that what you're doing will ultimately save your country
- 26:30Speaker 1: and many others too. I ask you simply cast off
- 26:34Speaker 1: your single flag and wave the banner of the world.
- 26:37Speaker 1: What work you'll do will be done for all peoples,
- 26:40Speaker 1: including your homeland. They will resist, of course, because humanity
- 26:44Speaker 1: does not like change. They're afraid, but change is good
- 26:47Speaker 1: and all you have to do is show them that
- 26:50Speaker 1: fear is a necessary emotion, but so often it holds
- 26:53Speaker 1: us back from doing the things we need to do.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Do not let fear hold you back, Terrence, Let go
- 26:59Speaker 1: will save this world together. He offered his hand to Terence.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Will you join me? Friend, Tell look down at the
- 27:06Speaker 1: hand of the man before him, and spoke, I will.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Taking Jeffrey's hand, he shook it, and in that moment
- 27:12Speaker 1: he was filled with a light. As he laid on
- 27:15Speaker 1: the dust of that air base, Terence let out a
- 27:17Speaker 1: cry as light poured from his eyes, nose, mouth, and fingertips.
- 27:22Speaker 1: His entire body was glowing with magnificent energy. From the
- 27:26Speaker 1: dark skies above him, a bolt of brilliant gold struck,
- 27:30Speaker 1: and that energy surrounding him began to condense, going from
- 27:33Speaker 1: energy to matter, from particle to atoms, all of which
- 27:37Speaker 1: condensing together into the base elements that would form the
- 27:40Speaker 1: monster he was becoming. Rising to his feet, the massive
- 27:44Speaker 1: titan roared, its long hair flowing in the wind, its
- 27:47Speaker 1: green pupils glowing in the light. It looked hardly different
- 27:50Speaker 1: from the other titans, but each of the titans nearby
- 27:53Speaker 1: felt its presence. This wasn't any pure Titan. This was
- 27:57Speaker 1: a Titan lord, one of the nine. As Terrence stood
- 28:01Speaker 1: there letting out a war cry from the throat of
- 28:03Speaker 1: his Titan, all others around began to bow in response.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Kneeling to the ground. Looking around the attack Titans saw
- 28:11Speaker 1: the other Titans and the many people with guns kneeling
- 28:14Speaker 1: in his presence. He had been chosen by the Founder
- 28:17Speaker 1: himself to perform a special mission, and this mission Terence
- 28:21Speaker 1: was determined to complete. And I think that's a good
- 28:25Speaker 1: place to call it for the time being. I really
- 28:27Speaker 1: wanted to let loose with this story, and I hope
- 28:29Speaker 1: you're all enjoying it so far. Attack on Titan is
- 28:32Speaker 1: one of those stories that mixes incredible fight scenes with
- 28:35Speaker 1: a deep contemplation of worldviews and societal issues. I hope
- 28:39Speaker 1: I'm representing that well. I wanted to have a different
- 28:42Speaker 1: approach to the Founder than Aaron and Demir, and instead
- 28:45Speaker 1: wanted to have the Founder be a bit more like
- 28:46Speaker 1: the Race Family's version of it, something considered more holy
- 28:50Speaker 1: than demonic. But what did you think? Tell me in
