- 0:00Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. I got a new smart
- 0:07watch. And I got one for my wife. And I like
- 0:18it during worship because every time I hit the
- 0:24keyboard or clap my hands, it counts as another
- 0:28step. So Cammie and I can challenge each other
- 0:36on how many steps we take. And all I got to do
- 0:40is play a couple songs on the keyboard and I
- 0:43win. Praise God. Everything's a competition.
- 0:50You know that, don't you? But I want to, I just
- 0:56have this in my heart this morning. There are
- 0:59no shortcuts. That's a shortcut, isn't it? There
- 1:04are no shortcuts in the kingdom of God. There
- 1:09are no shortcuts to growing in Christ. There
- 1:14are no shortcuts to getting closer to God. And
- 1:18if you expect it to be different for you than
- 1:21it is for everybody else, it isn't going to work
- 1:24that way. We've got to give ourselves to the
- 1:27things of God, right? We've got to do what God's
- 1:30called us to do. We're not saved because of those
- 1:33things, but we grow because of those things.
- 1:37We give ourselves to God, and he helps us to
- 1:41move forward in Christ. How many of you want
- 1:43to move forward in Christ? Amen. Now, I'm believing
- 1:46this morning that... the altars are going to
- 1:51be filled when I'm done preaching, that the altars
- 1:55are going to be filled with people that are rededicating
- 1:58their lives to Christ. Are you ready to rededicate
- 2:03your life to Christ this morning? Amen. Praise
- 2:07God. Turn with me to Nehemiah chapter 13. Nehemiah
- 2:12chapter 13. And we're going to spend some time.
- 2:17in Nehemiah chapter 13. Today's an incredibly
- 2:20special day. Today is a day that America has
- 2:24chosen to rededicate this nation back to God.
- 2:29Hallelujah. Hallelujah. This is a, I believe,
- 2:35across our country, a solemn day. We are rededicating
- 2:41our life not to a God, not to just a God, whichever
- 2:46God you choose. No, today we are rededicating
- 2:51America back to the God of the Bible. We are
- 2:55rededicating America back to Jesus. Hallelujah.
- 2:59And across this nation, at courthouses and counties
- 3:03all over, people are gathering for prayer. I
- 3:08know that the time three o 'clock has been mentioned.
- 3:12If you want to make your way to the courthouse
- 3:14at three o 'clock, I will be traveling at that
- 3:17time. But I would love for as many of you as
- 3:19possible on the courthouse grounds to gather
- 3:22and say, Lord, we dedicate this nation back to
- 3:25you. Amen. Praise God. And so, Lord, as this
- 3:29nation dedicates itself back to you, I pray that
- 3:33you would hear the cry of your people, that you
- 3:36would hear the heartbeat of the United States
- 3:39of America, that, Lord, of all of our shortcomings
- 3:43and failures, we turn back to you. In its 250th
- 3:48birthday, Lord, we turn back to you. And we acknowledge
- 3:52you as the sovereign over the United States of
- 3:56America. And all God's people said, Amen. Amen.
- 4:00Now throughout the history of Israel, there have
- 4:05been great reformers in the Old Testament. Thinking
- 4:11of Moses. Thinking of David. Thinking later of
- 4:17King Josiah, King Hezekiah. All the judges that
- 4:21God raised up to bring the nation back to God.
- 4:26Aren't you thankful for the voices that turn
- 4:30the nation back to God? And Nehemiah is one such
- 4:36person that God used to rebuild the walls around
- 4:43Jerusalem and bring the nation back to God. Before
- 4:49we read this passage, let me give you just a
- 4:53little history on Nehemiah. He was not a king.
- 4:55He was not a priest. Nehemiah was a cupbearer
- 4:59to a secular king, King Artaxerxes. He was a
- 5:05cupbearer. He was the one that tasted the food
- 5:11and drank the wine before the king to test it.
- 5:18To make sure it wasn't poisoned. Because the
- 5:23king has enemies. And not anybody, not just anybody
- 5:28can work in the cook of the president in the
- 5:31kitchen. Not anybody can do that. And the cup
- 5:37bearer was the one that protected the king. Would
- 5:42take that cup in his hand and before the king
- 5:45drank it, would drink it himself. So that if
- 5:49there was any poison in it, the king would know.
- 5:54Can I tell you? It's very much like the cross.
- 5:58It's very much like the cross of Calvary. Jesus
- 6:02drank the cup on our behalf so that the wrath
- 6:07of God would not touch you and I. So that the
- 6:11poison of sin would be removed. so that you and
- 6:16I would be protected. Nehemiah was a cupbearer.
- 6:20But his position in Israel was to bring the people
- 6:26back to God. So as you read the book of Nehemiah,
- 6:29he rebuilds the wall of Jerusalem, and it's an
- 6:31incredible story. But he comes back at the end,
- 6:35and in chapter 13, Nehemiah brings reformation
- 6:41to the people on another level. And we'll see
- 6:46how much of this we get to in the next 20 minutes
- 6:49or so. On that day they read from the book of
- 6:52Moses in the hearing of the people, and it was
- 6:55found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should
- 6:58ever come into the assembly of God, because they
- 7:02had not met the children of Israel with bread
- 7:04and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse
- 7:08them. However, our God turned the curse into
- 7:11a blessing. So it was when they heard the law
- 7:14that they separated all the mixed multitude of
- 7:18Israel. Now this chapter is going to sound harsh.
- 7:21It's Old Testament. It's not the testament of
- 7:24grace, but it is a testament that God called
- 7:28his people to obey. And so, verse 4. Now before
- 7:36this, Eliashib the priest, having authority over
- 7:41the storerooms of the house of our God, was allied
- 7:45with Tobiah. And he had prepared for him a large
- 7:50room. where previously they had stored the grain
- 7:55offerings, the frankincense, the articles, the
- 7:59tithes of grain, the new wine and oil, which
- 8:02were commanded to be given to the Levites and
- 8:05singers and gatekeepers and the offerings for
- 8:07the priests. But during all this, I was not in
- 8:11Jerusalem, for in the thirty -second year of
- 8:14Artaxerxes, king of Babylon, I had returned to
- 8:17the king, and after certain days I obtained leave
- 8:20from the king, and I came to Jerusalem and discovered
- 8:24the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah in
- 8:29preparing a room for him in the courts of the
- 8:32house of our God, and it grieved me bitterly.
- 8:36Therefore, I threw all the household goods of
- 8:39Tobiah out of the room. I commanded them to cleanse
- 8:43the rooms and I brought back into them the articles
- 8:46of the house of God with the grain offering and
- 8:50the frankincense. This Nehemiah, he's got some
- 8:55fortitude, doesn't he? He's got some grit. I'm
- 9:00believing God in 2026 for some people with some
- 9:04spiritual grit inside of them that will walk
- 9:08with God. Now you need to understand something
- 9:11about Eliashib. He was the high priest. He was
- 9:14the one that was supposed to be leading the way
- 9:17in the things of the law, in the things that
- 9:20God had commanded them to do. But here he had...
- 9:23cleaned out a room that was designated by God
- 9:27for the offerings of God's people. And he had
- 9:32cleared out this room and said, hey, Tobiah,
- 9:34you can live here. Whenever you're in town, here's
- 9:40a room for you. Now you need to understand some
- 9:45things about Tobiah. Because Tobiah was not just
- 9:50any other person. If you flip back in your Bible
- 9:53or you scroll back on your phone to Nehemiah
- 9:572 and verse 10, you are introduced to the character
- 10:02of Tobiah. And it says in verse 10, when Sanballat
- 10:09the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official,
- 10:14when they heard of what... they were doing rebuilding
- 10:18the wall, they were deeply disturbed that a man
- 10:21had come to seek the well -being of the children
- 10:25of Israel. This Tobiah was not only an Ammonite,
- 10:31he was a leader of the Ammonites. He was joined
- 10:35together with Sanballat, who spent the next two
- 10:39or three chapters taunting the Israelites, telling
- 10:43them they should not rebuild the wall. This Tobiah
- 10:48the Ammonite was a leader among his people and
- 10:52Eliashib thought it was more important to maintain
- 10:57a back -channel relationship with Tobiah than
- 11:03it was to obey the word of God. And so the high
- 11:07priest of Israel had invited Tobiah the Ammonite
- 11:13to dwell. in the temple of God. This is an evil,
- 11:20evil, evil thing that is taking place. But I
- 11:24ask the question today, as we rededicate our
- 11:30lives to the Lord, you know, it doesn't make
- 11:34sense for America to rededicate herself to the
- 11:37Lord if the believers in America do not rededicate
- 11:42themselves to the Lord. It's got to come down
- 11:46to the church. It's got to come down to individuals
- 11:49in the house of God saying, I'm going to rededicate
- 11:53my life to the Lord. But how many of us have
- 11:57back channel relationships with things that God
- 12:03has once delivered us from? We have back channel
- 12:08relationships, friendships with the world. And
- 12:13it's time for us to say, we're going to clear
- 12:17out our storehouses and make room for God and
- 12:21what he wants to do. Jesus said, put your hand
- 12:26to the plow and do not look back. Amen? Do not
- 12:33look back. In 2 Peter chapter 2. Peter says something
- 12:38very sobering. He says, for if they, after they
- 12:41have escaped the pollutions of the world, through
- 12:45the knowledge of the Lord, our Lord and Savior
- 12:48Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in the
- 12:52things of the world and are overcome by them,
- 12:55the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.
- 12:59It would have been better for them not to have
- 13:01known the way of righteousness than having known
- 13:05it to turn from the holy commandment delivered
- 13:08to them. But it has happened to them according
- 13:12to the true proverb, a dog returns to his vomit
- 13:15and a sow having washed to her wallowing in the
- 13:20mire. Friends, I want to call you to... Keep
- 13:24yourself in the deliverance that God has made
- 13:29for you. Amen? Galatians chapter 5. That was
- 13:33Peter in 2 Peter. Here's Paul. He said, Stand
- 13:37fast, therefore, in the liberty by which Christ
- 13:42has made us free. And do not be entangled again
- 13:48with the yoke of bondage. Hallelujah. Now, you
- 13:54might say, well, I've been a Christian for a
- 13:55while, Pastor. I don't need to hear that. But
- 13:58can I remind you how quickly, after Moses went
- 14:02up the mountain and he was gone, they had been
- 14:04delivered from the hand of Pharaoh. They had
- 14:06walked across on dry ground. They had seen the
- 14:10miraculous hand of God work. They had watched
- 14:14the pillar of fire by night and the cloud by
- 14:18day. They had it with them. But as soon as Moses
- 14:21went up the mountain, what did they do? Hey,
- 14:23let's make a golden calf. Let's bow down to it.
- 14:27And all the nation committed idolatry. We're
- 14:32fickle people, aren't we? We're very temperamental
- 14:37people. And we need God to constantly remind
- 14:41us, don't go back to the things I once delivered
- 14:46you from. And if you're here this morning and
- 14:49you're saying, you know what? I've gone back
- 14:51to some of those things. I've opened the door
- 14:54back to some of those things. I recognize this
- 14:57morning that I need to shut that door. When you
- 15:01rededicate your life to the Lord this morning,
- 15:03you're saying, I am shutting the door on the
- 15:07things that entangle me and that keep me from
- 15:10living for God. I'm kicking Tobiah out of my
- 15:14house. In Jesus' name. We need to be like Nehemiah
- 15:20and rededicate ourselves to Christ. Amen? Is
- 15:24that good stuff this morning? Praise God. Okay,
- 15:29I'm going to move quicker through the rest of
- 15:31these. The second thing Nehemiah did, the next
- 15:34verse, verse 10. I also realized that the portions
- 15:38for the Levites had not been given to them for
- 15:41each of the Levites and the singers. Everybody
- 15:45say, and the singers. Who did the work had gone
- 15:49back to his field. They had gone back to his
- 15:54field. In rededicating Israel to the Lord, Nehemiah,
- 16:01restored worship. He restored worship. The musicians
- 16:10and singers, they were Levites. They relied on
- 16:14the offerings that the rest of the nation brought.
- 16:18And when the rest of the nation under the leadership
- 16:23of Eliashib, they quit giving. They quit. They
- 16:30quit bringing offerings. And so the musicians
- 16:33and the singers and the worshipers, do you know
- 16:38what they did? They said, well, how are we going
- 16:43to eat? And they had to choose eating over fulfilling
- 16:52their calling. And they went back to the fields.
- 16:58And the worship that was supposed to be offered
- 17:02by the people to the Lord, the singers that were
- 17:06supposed to stand in the place of worship, they
- 17:10were gone. They were no more. Friends, if we're
- 17:14going to rededicate our lives back to God, we
- 17:18have got to come back to the place of worship.
- 17:22We've got to protect the place of worship. We've
- 17:27got to... come out of the field and we've got
- 17:30to say these these singers you know they they
- 17:33wanted to eat And so some might say, well, it's
- 17:36not their fault, but they had a mandate from
- 17:39God and they abandoned their mandate. You know,
- 17:43can I tell you something? If they would have
- 17:45stayed and they would have said, you know what?
- 17:46It doesn't matter what Eliashib says. Eliashib
- 17:49is not my provider. I'm going to fulfill the
- 17:53call that God has on my life. Can I tell you
- 17:56something? God would have come through for every
- 17:58single one of them. Can I encourage you? Do not
- 18:04abandon your call for the sake of money, for
- 18:08the sake of provision. Trust in the name of the
- 18:13Lord our God. Trust in Him in Jesus' name. Hallelujah.
- 18:18Some of the people that we have met with and
- 18:24talked with about marriage, one of the difficulties
- 18:29in our society, is that if you stay unmarried,
- 18:33you get more money from the government than if
- 18:37you marry. This is a very real thing. The question
- 18:46is this. Are we going to trust in the government?
- 18:51Or are we going to trust in the name of the Lord
- 18:54our God? And I want to declare over every one
- 18:59of us today to don't be afraid. Do not be afraid
- 19:05to take the steps that you need to take to trust
- 19:10in the Lord our God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
- 19:15And Nehemiah said, this isn't going to happen
- 19:17on my watch. On my watch, we're going to have
- 19:20worship in the house. On my watch, we're going
- 19:23to have musicians on the house. On my watch,
- 19:26we're going to have singers in the house. Hallelujah.
- 19:28You know, pastors come to me and they say, Darren,
- 19:31you know, if you cut your service time down to
- 19:3455 minutes, your church will grow. You know what?
- 19:44Based upon all the evidence of all the other
- 19:46churches, it's true. The church will grow. But
- 19:59what will we sacrifice? Because our number one
- 20:05priority, I mean, how many of you like it when
- 20:10the house is full? I like it. I believe we're
- 20:16going to have this house jam -packed. I believe
- 20:20the day is coming where if you don't come early,
- 20:22it's going to be hard to find a seat. But I refuse
- 20:27to make that my number one priority. My number
- 20:33one priority is not to pack the house with people.
- 20:37My number one priority is not even to win the
- 20:41lost. It's high on my list of priorities. But
- 20:48there's something that is higher still. And that
- 20:52is this. We are gathered in this place to worship
- 20:57God. We are gathered in this place to lift Him
- 21:02high. We are gathered in this place to give Him
- 21:06what is due His name. Hallelujah. And I love
- 21:11it. I love it, church, that we lingered in worship.
- 21:15For an hour and ten minutes this morning. I love
- 21:18it that we did that. I'm kind of racing through
- 21:20my message because of that. But we gave Jesus
- 21:24the worship that he is worthy of. Hallelujah.
- 21:28He is worthy of the worship. Glory to God. Glory
- 21:33to God. He's worthy of the worship. And before
- 21:38everything else. He's worthy. Do you know the
- 21:41number one reason we do missions? We do missions
- 21:44because we care about people. Jesus cares about
- 21:48people. The Father's not willing that any should
- 21:51perish, but that all should come to repentance.
- 21:54His heart is for the nations. His heart is for
- 21:57the lost. His heart is toward the people. But
- 22:00you know the number one reason why we want to
- 22:02reach people? Because our God is worthy of...
- 22:09Their worship. Our God is worthy. Of another
- 22:16one. Coming to give him praise. Our God is worthy.
- 22:22Of more. Than what we have right now. He's worthy
- 22:28of it all. We do missions. Because our God is
- 22:34worthy. We want the nations. To sing and lift
- 22:40him up. And see. He's worthy. That's why we witness.
- 22:50That's why we reach the lost. We reach the lost
- 22:54for their sake as well. Because we love people
- 22:58like God does. But friends, the restoration of
- 23:04worship is... is the priority of rededication.
- 23:11I'm believing that America will once again be
- 23:14a center of worship for God. I'm believing that
- 23:18our nation will be known again because of its
- 23:21worship. We are here to worship the King of Kings
- 23:26and the Lord of Lords. I believe that worship
- 23:28is going to grow in this house. I believe that
- 23:31we're going to add opportunities for worship
- 23:33in the coming 12 months. We're going to see God
- 23:37expand worship in central Illinois, across this
- 23:42land. I believe it with my whole heart. Are you
- 23:45hungry? Are you hungry to see God lifted high?
- 23:49Hallelujah. Praise the name of the Lord. And
- 23:55so Paul, he said that one of the signs that you
- 24:00are filled with the Holy Spirit went beyond tongues,
- 24:05went beyond the gifts of the Spirit that are
- 24:08powerful and good. He said, do not be drunk with
- 24:14wine, which is dissipation, but be filled with
- 24:18the Spirit of God. And if you're filled with
- 24:21the Spirit of God, you're going to speak to one
- 24:23another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.
- 24:26If you're filled with the Spirit of God, you're
- 24:28going to sing and you're going to make melody
- 24:31in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always
- 24:34for all things to God the Father in the name
- 24:37of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah. Worship.
- 24:42Worship. Make worship bigger in your home. Make
- 24:46worship bigger in your car. Make worship bigger
- 24:49when you're by yourself. Make worship bigger
- 24:52when you're here in this place. Don't just tolerate
- 24:56worship in this house to get to the good part,
- 25:01the preaching. We want the preaching to get better
- 25:06and better, but friends, do not skip. The worship.
- 25:12Give yourself to worship. Give yourself to worship.
- 25:17When we rededicate our lives to the Lord this
- 25:20morning. If you come down to this altar. You're
- 25:23saying God I want to be a vessel of worship.
- 25:26I may not sing great. I may not any of those
- 25:29things. But I want to be a vessel of worship.
- 25:38The restoration of. The temple, the restoration
- 25:43of worship, and the restoration of giving. The
- 25:51commands under Moses was for the nation to bring
- 25:54the tithe to the temple so that the work of the
- 25:58ministry could happen. The whole nation was neglecting
- 26:04their responsibility, but this rededication involved
- 26:09a revival. Of giving. I personally believe. That
- 26:16the tithe. One tenth of your income. Belongs
- 26:21to the Lord. It's the beginning place. Of giving.
- 26:29To position yourself. For spiritual. Blessing.
- 26:37Some of you wonder why. Ends never. meet. It
- 26:43could be because you are neglecting giving. When
- 26:49you as an individual or a family begin to tithe
- 26:52God will begin to prove himself to you in ways
- 26:58that you never thought possible. And the question
- 27:02that I want to ask is will you trust God with
- 27:06your finances? Bring all the tithes into the
- 27:12storehouse that there may be food in my house.
- 27:16Try me now in this, says the Lord, if I will
- 27:19not open for you the windows of heaven and pour
- 27:23out for you such blessing that there will not
- 27:26be room enough to receive it. This is the one
- 27:31promise where God says it's okay to test him
- 27:35in. All throughout the Scriptures, the Word says,
- 27:42do not test the Lord your God. But here, God
- 27:46invites you to test Him. Financial miracles released
- 27:54into the church and into the families of the
- 27:58church happen when we rededicate our lives to
- 28:02the Lord. These Israelites under Nehemiah, they
- 28:06had gotten used to not giving. They had gotten
- 28:10used to not bringing the sacrifice of worship
- 28:15through financial means. And we are rededicating
- 28:22our lives to God, trusting Him with everything.
- 28:28This is a revival of giving. be deceived. God
- 28:35is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that shall
- 28:40he reap. 1 Corinthians 16. On the first day of
- 28:46the week, let each one of you lay something aside,
- 28:50storing up as he may prosper to the church. This
- 28:57is Paul. I bear witness, he said in 2 Corinthians
- 29:028, that according to their ability, yes, and
- 29:06beyond their ability, they were freely willing,
- 29:10imploring us with much urgency that we would
- 29:14receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering
- 29:18to the saints. Hallelujah. And so this morning,
- 29:25We are rededicating our lives to God, saying,
- 29:28Lord, we trust you with everything. Hallelujah.
- 29:35Hallelujah. I feel the anointing of the Lord
- 29:40in this house right now. Rededicating our lives
- 29:45to God. Number four, the restoration. of the
- 29:54Sabbath. Nehemiah 13, 15. I saw people in Judah
- 30:03treading wine presses on the Sabbath. bringing
- 30:06in sheaves, loading donkeys with wine, grapes,
- 30:10figs, all kinds of burdens which they brought
- 30:12into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I warned
- 30:16them about the day on which they were selling
- 30:18provisions. Men of Tyre dwelt there also who
- 30:22brought in fish and all kinds of goods and sold
- 30:26them on the Sabbath to the children of Judah
- 30:28and in Jerusalem. And I contended with the nobles
- 30:32of Judah and said to them, What evil thing is
- 30:35this that you do by profaning the Sabbath day?
- 30:38Did not your fathers do thus? And did not our
- 30:42God bring all this disaster on us and all this
- 30:45city? Yet you bring added wrath on Israel by
- 30:48profaning the Sabbath. So it was at the gates
- 30:52of Jerusalem as it began to be dark before the
- 30:54Sabbath. I commanded the gates to be shut. I
- 30:57charged that they must not be open till after
- 31:00the Sabbath. I posted some of my servants at
- 31:02the gates so no burdens would be brought in on
- 31:05the Sabbath day. And the merchants and sellers
- 31:08of all kinds of wares lodged. outside Jerusalem
- 31:11once or twice and I warned them and I said to
- 31:15them, why do you spend the night outside the
- 31:17wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on
- 31:20you. Oh, I love Nehemiah. That was not in a good
- 31:25way. He was laying hands on people. From that
- 31:29time on, they came no more on the Sabbath and
- 31:32I commanded that the Levites, that they should
- 31:35cleanse themselves and they should go and guard
- 31:37the gates to sanctify. The Sabbath day. The Sabbath
- 31:45was a commandment, the fourth of the ten commandments
- 31:48in Exodus chapter 20 and Deuteronomy chapter
- 31:515. God himself set in order the Sabbath by resting
- 31:57on the seventh day. Nehemiah saw that they weren't
- 32:02even making an attempt to follow it and he said
- 32:06it right. Then in the years that were to come,
- 32:10the leaders of Israel turned the Sabbath into
- 32:14legalism. Adding rule after rule that made it
- 32:22more of a burden than a blessing. Jesus brought
- 32:30the Sabbath back to its intention. In Mark 2
- 32:35.23, he said this, listen. Man was not made for
- 32:41the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for man. Did
- 32:48you know that God's intention for the Sabbath,
- 32:51God's intention is to give you rest? Did you
- 32:57know that in the New Testament, there is not
- 32:59a legalistic single day that you have to keep
- 33:02by law? is the Sabbath day. And he said in Matthew
- 33:1111, come to me all you are weary and I will give
- 33:17you rest. His intention is that you pay attention
- 33:22to the rest that you have in Jesus Christ. I'm
- 33:28cutting this short a little bit. But some of
- 33:31you are neglecting to come to Jesus Christ for
- 33:35restoration. And you have to come back to him.
- 33:40Now I believe that you ought to take a day off
- 33:43once a week. I'm going to say that again. Because
- 33:56it felt good. I believe that you ought to take
- 34:00a day off once a week. I believe that you ought
- 34:05to rest. Do you know it's similar to the tithe?
- 34:12When you tithe, you're saying, God, I'm trusting
- 34:14you. I'm not trusting myself. Because in myself,
- 34:17it makes more sense that 100 % would pay more
- 34:20bills than 90%. But I'm giving you the 10 % because
- 34:25I trust in you. And guess what? God's blessing
- 34:29on the 90 % will go way farther than your ability
- 34:34to manipulate 100%. I guarantee you that. Because
- 34:39you're expressing trust in God. And the same
- 34:42is true when you rest. I'm trusting in God that
- 34:48in six days, He can help me get more done with
- 34:54his blessing than I can get done in seven days
- 34:59on my own. Jesus is our Sabbath rest, Hebrews
- 35:06teaches us. Some of you need to learn the Sabbath
- 35:11rest in Christ. If you're frazzled and weary
- 35:16all the time, you are missing something. Now
- 35:21this doesn't mean you don't work hard. Six days
- 35:24thou shalt work. But it means that we trust in
- 35:32the Lord. I take Fridays off. I rarely answer
- 35:40my phone. Now sometimes things happen. Sometimes
- 35:43we have ministry on Fridays. I get that. It's
- 35:46not a legalism thing. But I take Fridays off.
- 35:50I do not prepare sermons on Friday. I will answer
- 35:57a text if it's an emergency. If I don't answer
- 36:00the phone when you call and it's an emergency,
- 36:03text me. I will reply to you. I want to. But
- 36:10I take a day off. Why? Because I trust in God.
- 36:18Because He loves me. Because he pours rest into
- 36:23me. Some of you in rededicating your lives to
- 36:29God when you do this, you're going to shed weariness.
- 36:32You're going to say, God, I trust you with the
- 36:37rest. And finally, the restoration of separation.
- 36:46Now you need to hear this last part. Verse 23.
- 36:52I love Nehemiah. I love him more and more the
- 36:55more I read this chapter. In those days I also
- 36:58saw Jews who had married women of Ashdod, Ammon,
- 37:01and Moab. And half of their children spoke the
- 37:04language of Ashdod and could not even speak the
- 37:07language of Judah. But spoke according to the
- 37:11language of Judah. Of one or the other people.
- 37:14So I contended with them. And cursed them. And
- 37:19struck some of them. And pulled out their hair.
- 37:27And made them swear by God. Saying you shall
- 37:31not give your daughters as wives to their sons.
- 37:34Nor take their daughters for your sons for yourselves.
- 37:39And here's why. Did not Solomon, king of Israel,
- 37:43sin by these things? Yet among many nations there
- 37:46was no king like them who was beloved of his
- 37:48God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless,
- 37:53pagan women caused even him to sin. Should we
- 37:58then hear of your doing all this great evil,
- 38:01transgressing against our God by marrying pagan
- 38:05women? One of the sons of Joiada. The son of
- 38:19Eliashib the high priest. We already said that
- 38:24Eliashib had Tobiah in the temple. Now Eliashib,
- 38:29we find out, was his son, was a son -in -law
- 38:35of Sanballat the Horonite. gave his children
- 38:43to Sanballat. The problem in the Old Testament
- 38:51with marrying other races was not that it was
- 38:56in itself a sin to cross into another culture,
- 39:03but that what would happen is that they would
- 39:09bring their gods into the relationship. And they
- 39:13would cause Israel to stumble just like Solomon.
- 39:19And so the command today in the New Testament,
- 39:23us Gentile church, is not that you can't marry
- 39:27outside of your race or that's a sin. That is
- 39:30not the truth. The lesson is not that you cannot...
- 39:37Mary because of social status or because of this
- 39:41or that. None of that is true. But the New Testament
- 39:45principle is this, that we have got to separate
- 39:49ourselves from the world. In 2 Corinthians 6,
- 39:55Paul said, do not be unequally yoked together
- 39:58with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness
- 40:02with lawlessness? What communion has light with
- 40:06darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial?
- 40:10Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
- 40:14And what agreement has the temple of God with
- 40:17idols? For you are the temple of the living God.
- 40:22As God has said, I will dwell in them. I will
- 40:25walk among them. I will be their God and they
- 40:29shall be my people. Look, pat yourself on your
- 40:34chest right now. Come on. This right here. is
- 40:39the temple of the Holy Spirit. Jesus, the Son
- 40:42of God, lives inside of me. Hallelujah. I am
- 40:47separated. I am separated unto God. And I shall
- 40:52not take what is holy and washed in the blood
- 40:55of Jesus and bought with... with the Son of God
- 40:59on the cross. I will not take that and unify
- 41:05it with an idol. I will not unify it with something
- 41:08that is not of God. I will not be unequally yoked.
- 41:14I will not be unequally yoked. Come out from
- 41:21among them and be separate, says the Lord. If
- 41:27the only difference between you and the world
- 41:29is that you spend two hours in church on Sunday,
- 41:32you need to separate yourself unto the Lord.
- 41:43I'm rededicating my life to God. I'm rededicating
- 41:49my life to God. Do you not know that friendship
- 41:57with the world is enmity with God? Whoever loves
- 42:10the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
- 42:17Wow. Dedicating themselves back to God. In holiness.
- 42:29And saying here I am God. I belong to you. I
- 42:36belong to you. I've preached long enough. I'm
- 42:42going to ask the worship team to come. And I'm
- 42:46believing that for one of these reasons or another.
- 42:50That these altars are going to be full. We're
- 42:53going to just sing that song, Here I am to worship.
- 42:59Here I am to bow down. That you will say, God,
- 43:06I'm joining with America. I'm joining with Faith
- 43:11Church. And I am rededicating my life. I had
- 43:27a dream last night. I was in a house. It wasn't
- 43:32a house I've ever been in before, but it was
- 43:33mine. And there was a bunch of people there,
- 43:37and we were having a party. And it was a very
- 43:42real dream, and I looked out the window, and
- 43:44planes were flying overhead, and then I saw bombs
- 43:48dropping. And about a mile away, one exploded.
- 43:56And I was trying to get the people to look out
- 43:59the window and to pay attention. We needed to
- 44:01do something. But nobody would listen. They just
- 44:08kept eating their hot dogs. And I was trying
- 44:17to get the people to see that bombs were dropping.
- 44:26And I woke up. I forgot. I woke up and just started
- 44:33getting ready. I didn't even remember that I
- 44:34dreamed that. And when we got here, when I got
- 44:37here this morning, I paused a minute and I remembered
- 44:42having that dream. These are not the days, church.
- 44:55To be asleep. There is war in the heavenlies.
- 45:03Over our nation. You know that. Over your family.
- 45:11Over your sons and daughters. Over your own soul.
- 45:20Nehemiah realized it in his generation. He shook
- 45:24the people. I'm not going to come out of the
- 45:29aisle and pull your hair out today. But how many
- 45:35of you will say, God, I want to rededicate my
- 45:39life to you this morning. I want to say, here
- 45:44I am. Here I am. Here I am. I give myself to
- 45:55you. It's why we live, Lord. I don't want this
- 46:09to be emotion -driven, although I feel emotion
- 46:15right now. I don't want it to be just because
- 46:20everybody else is doing it. What I want to know
- 46:26is if you in your own heart of hearts want to
- 46:29say, God, here I am. I rededicate my life to
- 46:32you. Here I am. Here I am. And if that's you
- 46:38this morning, while we sing this song, here I
- 46:43am to worship you, God. I want you to just get
- 46:47up out of your seat and I want you to present
- 46:49yourself before the Lord. And say, Lord, here
- 46:53I am. I know I'm not perfect, God. But Lord,
- 47:01I rededicate my life to you. Along with this
- 47:05nation. Here I am, Lord. I worship you.
