- 0:00get laced up let's go it's time for banter with
- 0:04the boys welcome back to baner with the boys
- 0:18gridiron updates uh week 10 Already in the NFL.
- 0:24That's crazy. I'm joined here. I'm smelty, by
- 0:27the way. I literally forget every week. And I'm
- 0:30like, oh, yeah, by the way. And it's not scripted.
- 0:33I seriously forget every week. I'm like a dog.
- 0:35Short term memory. Rob. What's up, buddy? Go
- 0:39host. Live and love him, baby. Live and love
- 0:41him. Good week. It's always a nice week after
- 0:42a W. Of course. Always. Skol. Skol, baby. Ironically,
- 0:46our Lions fan couldn't be here this week. I hope
- 0:49you're listening. We'll see you next week. We'll
- 0:52see you next week. You can't avoid us. You can't
- 0:54avoid us. Dan is back again this week for another
- 0:58episode. Dude, this is awesome. I can't. I'm
- 1:01excited to be back. This is awesome. Yes, sir.
- 1:04Yes, sir. And, of course, Kevin behind the camera
- 1:07getting everything done for us as always. What
- 1:10up, Kev? Let's not waste any time, gentlemen,
- 1:13and get right into our Week 9 Game Recaps. Welcome
- 1:25back here. This started off. Let's just get into
- 1:29it, Rob. Vikes, Lions, fellas. Wow. Squeaker.
- 1:35We squeaked it out. Yes. And we did. Got a couple
- 1:37calls. Got a couple calls. Okay, so first off,
- 1:40right away, right away, that roughing the passer
- 1:43call. How do you feel about that? Like, I think
- 1:47it was kind of weak, the one that we got, the
- 1:50one I'm talking about. Yes. I think that was
- 1:52weak. But by definition, landing your weight
- 1:55on there and by the view from the ref, I could
- 1:59see why it was thrown. I don't know. That seemed
- 2:03weak to me. I mean, at some point, you've got
- 2:04to be able to play. And I feel like we talk about
- 2:07this every year. No, it's that fine line of being
- 2:09like, was he actually malicious in his intent
- 2:13in laying his body weight on him? Or did he just
- 2:16plain and simply hit him hard because he was
- 2:18running full speed? And in that case, that's
- 2:21what happened. And I don't think there was any
- 2:23malicious intent, and I thought it was weak.
- 2:26And I'm not going to complain about it. Right
- 2:29on. Vikings fans should probably call it out
- 2:33if it was a little weak. Oh, and I did. What's
- 2:35another call? You said there was a couple calls.
- 2:36What was that? Didn't Hutchinson get a weird
- 2:39tripping or something call on that? No, that
- 2:42one I agree with because that was malicious in
- 2:44time. You can't do that. I'm trying to remember
- 2:47this call. I just didn't think he was intending
- 2:49to. He locked up with CD. Okay. Blitzing off
- 2:51the edge. Or not blitzing, excuse me. Rushing.
- 2:54Attacking. And he got into this hold with him,
- 2:58and then he got off to, like, an angle and tried
- 3:01tripping him with his foot. Yeah, and then ended
- 3:05up hitting him in the kneecap, so you can see
- 3:06it. So, yeah, that's definitely, like, you can't
- 3:10do that, you know? Like, whether it did little
- 3:14or not, you know, that's something that... you
- 3:17shouldn't do. That's kind of dirty. Can't do
- 3:19that. That's what Dan says. Right on. But they
- 3:22got us back on that push -off on Williamson's
- 3:25last touchdown, a little Drew Pearson push -off
- 3:27against Rodgers on that last touchdown. So it
- 3:30equaled out a little bit. But you're coming off
- 3:33a two -game losing streak. We'll take all the
- 3:35breaks we can. So thank you, Zebras. JJ, not
- 3:40the most amazing game. But made some plays when
- 3:43we needed them. There were a couple plays that
- 3:46were solid. I mean, that throw to Jettis for
- 3:48the touchdown. Very nice. Came in hot. And that's
- 3:51only where Jettis is going to catch it. You know
- 3:53what I mean? Yes, obviously he made a crazy one
- 3:55-handed catch, you know, whatever. Outside of
- 3:57that, it was placed in a perfect spot. Like,
- 4:00I just couldn't believe how perfect of a throw
- 4:02that was for that particular play. Big drop by
- 4:07TJ, so there's other things, too, that factored
- 4:10into that. But first game back, I can't complain.
- 4:14We'll see. No. He took full advantage. I mean,
- 4:17when he's on KOC's script, he does really well.
- 4:20When he's off script, it's kind of iffy, but
- 4:23he has full control of this team. You can see
- 4:27it. I like it, yeah. He is fully confident, and
- 4:30the team will ride with him. And what I mean
- 4:32ride is as long as he stays healthy. could be
- 4:35that wild card team by the end of the season
- 4:37because, you know, KOC's coaching, I think I'm
- 4:40going to give him credit. It's that good, you
- 4:42know. There's so much to clean up. So I just
- 4:47listened to Paul Allen's drive -bys, and he goes
- 4:49up to Jalen Naylor. He's like, Jalen Naylor with
- 4:51only one catch for 16 yards. And I'm thinking
- 4:54to myself, should have been two because if you
- 4:56remember that one on his hip. Yeah. Throws like
- 4:59that, JJ has to clean up indefinitely. That one
- 5:04on his hip, that's a tough one for me because,
- 5:06like, when is he down? by contact at that point.
- 5:11If we're talking about catches, not to bring
- 5:13up the most famous one, because this catch has
- 5:16no weight. This Naylor weight has no weight to
- 5:19it. You're talking about the interception by
- 5:21Tyree pinning the ball against his helmet and
- 5:23falling to the ground. It almost seemed like
- 5:25he had it pinned against his leg as he was hitting
- 5:28the ground and down by contact at that point.
- 5:31That was the only thing I was looking at. Now,
- 5:33as far as coming out of the scrum and after that
- 5:36point, oh yeah, the Lions had the ball. No question
- 5:39there. But I'm like, was he down though? That
- 5:41was my only thing on that book. One way to get
- 5:43your first interception, Terry on Arnold. I mean,
- 5:46no doubt. He was right there. Right place, right
- 5:48time type of thing. No doubt. Because of bad
- 5:50throw. Yeah, I was a little behind him, but he's
- 5:53an NFL receiver. I mean, he initially had the
- 5:55opportunity to kind of catch that. He did, but
- 5:59that's hard running a crossing route. I'm not
- 6:00saying it's not a hard catch, but he also needs
- 6:02to flatten that route a little easier to make
- 6:05a better throw because he can see in the replay
- 6:07that he fades that. He needs to help out his
- 6:08rookie quarterback. I agree with you. So on that
- 6:10aspect, it's first win in forward field since
- 6:132017, so that's a nice, you know. So we'll take
- 6:16it as Vikings fans real quick. We didn't even
- 6:17talk about the Detroit Lions, so we need our
- 6:20Lions. Lions fan here next week. We got to move
- 6:22on. But real quick with the Lions. I mean, obviously,
- 6:25the Vikings defense actually showed up this week.
- 6:27Where has they been? The free agent signings
- 6:29really showed up this week. That run defense.
- 6:31The run defense played well. Able to limit Gibbs.
- 6:34Jameer Gibbs. Yeah, under 100 for Gibbs, too.
- 6:37I mean, that's an amazing number. No, no. I mean.
- 6:41Under 100 all -around yards, too. All the defensive
- 6:44linemen took it personally. I'm going to give
- 6:46Levi Drake Rodriguez his flowers. This dude,
- 6:49I mean, he runs at like a three technique, mostly
- 6:52on run stuffing packages, and he answers the
- 6:55bell every time. This guy is... He's got a gift.
- 6:58I mean, he's from D2 Texas A &M Commerce. Flores
- 7:01loves him. He made that momentum -changing block
- 7:05kick at the end. Yeah, buddy. And that is huge.
- 7:08I mean, seventh -round pick, I mean, what more
- 7:10can you ask for? I mean, these are diamonds in
- 7:12the rough. Absolutely. Real quick, before we
- 7:15move on, Lions at Commanders next week. We don't
- 7:19talk about them in our preview show. Just real
- 7:21quick. Wow. Don't go too deep into it. Jaden
- 7:23Daniels not playing. I'm going to say Lions because
- 7:27if I'm looking at. The commanders, I'm looking
- 7:32at the film. I'm saying commanders Frankie Louvu
- 7:35and Bobby Wagner, blitz the A -gaps, get pressure
- 7:39on Jared Goff. But Frankie Louvu's not playing.
- 7:41He's suspended. So, yeah, give me the Lions.
- 7:43Give me the Lions. 1 ,000%. Yeah, the Lions for
- 7:45sure, especially with how Daniel's in. 100%.
- 7:47That's where I'm going. They're pretty banged
- 7:49up. Their whole defensive line is banged up.
- 7:51They can't stop anybody. But I wanted to throw
- 7:54a quick point. Really a momentum changer for
- 7:56the Vikings game after the Lions went down. scored
- 7:59on that initial drive was the kick return. Getting
- 8:01it back into already field goal position. That
- 8:05really changed the momentum. I think it gave
- 8:10a real positive vibe for the Vikings often. It's
- 8:12like, hey, we don't need to do much. We still
- 8:14can put points on the board here to kind of flip
- 8:16that initial because if we go three and out,
- 8:19they go down and score. We're back in that Chargers
- 8:21game down 14 -0 quick. For sure. All right, let's
- 8:24move on. Nobody wants to talk about the Vikings
- 8:26anymore but us, obviously, and we can talk all
- 8:28day. Panthers at Green Bay. Stunner. Upset are
- 8:32the words being thrown around today. The Carolina
- 8:35Panthers are 5 -4 after getting a win against
- 8:38the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. No love,
- 8:42no. Is love not getting any love this week? No
- 8:47love, no. Gotta love it. Oh, wait. No, actually,
- 8:50I didn't even try to do that. No, never mind.
- 8:53Jordan Love and the Packers as a whole. are similar
- 8:57to the Vikings. They're so freaking wildly inconsistent.
- 9:00It's just like you don't really know. You know,
- 9:03the Packers have dominated games this year, similar
- 9:06to the Vikings dominating, who was it? Why am
- 9:09I blanking? The Bengals. The Bengals absolutely
- 9:10dominating them, you know what I mean? But then
- 9:12there's other games where it's just like it doesn't
- 9:14make any sense, like against the Falcons for
- 9:15the Vikings. Couldn't stop Bijan, you know what
- 9:17I mean? Packers could not take care of Rico.
- 9:20Dowdle. Yeah. That dude is playing outstanding
- 9:23right now. He stayed hot. He stayed hot in this
- 9:26game. 130 rushing yards. Two tods. Yeah. Yeah,
- 9:29it's just been consistent. Yeah, the Panthers,
- 9:31you know, just one of those games. They hung
- 9:33around, hung around. Green Bay, I mean, losing
- 9:36your boy Kraft is going to be a really tough
- 9:39one for. Is it ACL for the year? Yeah, he's done.
- 9:44That's so sad. And also the Packers still really
- 9:47haven't established a number one receiver as,
- 9:50you know, their go -to guy for love. And, I mean,
- 9:53Kraft was kind of that guy for him now, so it'll
- 9:55be really interesting. Golden really still hasn't
- 9:58really developed. No, not what I was thinking
- 10:01as a high draft pick like that. Christian Watson
- 10:04coming up with a big play. Yes, yes. And he's
- 10:07turned it around for them, which is a good thing
- 10:09for the Packers. Good thing for Christian Watson.
- 10:11Yeah, so. But, Rob, you were right. This was
- 10:14the trap game. If you guys were listening last
- 10:16week, I mean, not only do you lose a winnable
- 10:19game at home, now you have to take on the Eagles,
- 10:22who are looking to pull away in the NFC East.
- 10:24Yes, coming off a bye, too. So, for me, the biggest.
- 10:28The biggest issue I have with this Packer game.
- 10:33Now, hold on. Before I say this, did the Panthers
- 10:35miss a field goal early, too? Did they end up
- 10:37missing a field goal as well? I can't remember.
- 10:39Let me look here. Let me look here. No. No, it
- 10:42was McManus' field goal I'm thinking about. Yeah.
- 10:44So, I mean, that's a factor, right? Now it's
- 10:4616 -16, right? Hypothetically, if you were to
- 10:49make that. But also, what was the beginning thought
- 10:52I was going with here on the Packers? Son of
- 10:54a B. Five of their first six possessions were
- 10:57inside the Panthers' 35 -yard line, and they
- 11:00just got two field goals out of it. So only three
- 11:03turnovers on the entire season, and they had
- 11:05two this game, which is huge. Should have had
- 11:06three on that fourth down play when that Love
- 11:08threw that one up, too. Oh, yeah, right in the
- 11:11end zone. And that brings the Panthers to five
- 11:13and four. They're above 500. Yeah, they have
- 11:15a belief in their coach. I mean, their coach
- 11:17is good. You just mentioned Love throwing it
- 11:19up there on that fourth down play. That's the
- 11:21play I was talking about, but it was in the third
- 11:23quarter. The one I'm talking about is the third
- 11:25quarter one on first and ten. He did the exact
- 11:28same thing. Threw it up into actually triple
- 11:30coverage back there. Like, what are we doing
- 11:32on first down? I like taking a shot. Don't get
- 11:35me wrong. But with three Panthers back there?
- 11:38Are we kidding? Let's find a one -on -one somewhere.
- 11:40That one bugged the heck out of me. Third and
- 11:42ten, and you throw deep, and it's a pick, and
- 11:45he's downed right away. That's a punt. You know
- 11:47what I mean? So it's not the end of the world.
- 11:49It doesn't look good on the stat line, but it's
- 11:50not the end of the world. But that other one.
- 11:52Yeah, it'd be really. It's interesting to see
- 11:54what Packer fans, their true belief of what they
- 11:56feel like Love is right now. You know, the ups
- 11:58and downs with him. He has the ability to play
- 12:00the game, but it's his consistency, you know,
- 12:03to be a dominant quarterback in the NFL. Right
- 12:05now, he's just kind of lingering around that
- 12:07middle of the pack kind of quarterback. Now I
- 12:09feel like I don't know what I'm talking about.
- 12:11He's only got one pick on the stat line, Jordan
- 12:13Love. I thought he had two this game. You should
- 12:15get a podcast. What am I thinking about? I know
- 12:17I should. I know I should. Wasn't Vinny throw
- 12:20it in? Oh, man. Now I'm going to have to. The
- 12:22Packers. Packers are probably hurting. They probably
- 12:24could use a couple guys like Preston Smith and
- 12:26Kenny Clark right now, but they shipped them
- 12:28away. The middle of that Packers defense doesn't
- 12:32look as good as it. Mike Parsons is doing the
- 12:35best he can, but when it's not a known passing
- 12:39down, he's been a little less effective. He's
- 12:42still a stud player and playing well. No, he
- 12:45did have one in the third quarter, that deep
- 12:47one. And this is also an injury -riddled Panthers
- 12:50offensive line. And Dave Canales' run game tactics
- 12:54are brilliant. They're getting it done. They're
- 12:56awesome. The flips, the handoffs, that's all
- 12:59coordinated. That's all tactical. This guy's
- 13:02good. This guy's good. Dan says this guy's good.
- 13:04Panthers came to win, and they did it. Panthers
- 13:06came to win, got it done. Moving on here, gentlemen.
- 13:09We've got to keep going. Game of the week. Chiefs
- 13:12at Bills. No, no. It should have been a Sunday
- 13:13night game. Why did they do a 3 o 'clock game
- 13:15on this one? It's all good. It's all good. No,
- 13:18it's not. It's always a chess match when these
- 13:21teams play, honestly. And it's these two quarterbacks.
- 13:23I know these two quarterbacks kind of overlook.
- 13:27The great players on both teams that are also
- 13:30on the teams. But these two quarterbacks, man,
- 13:33can just make magic happen all the time. They're
- 13:35so hard to sack. They're slippery. Both of them
- 13:38are hard to bring down in the backfield. It's
- 13:40just unbelievable. Play's never over with those
- 13:42two. No, it's really not. Great game. For me,
- 13:46the turning point of this game was the big miss
- 13:48in the first half for the Chiefs. They got the
- 13:50field goal at the end of the half, but not getting
- 13:52that touchdown instead after that big Hollywood
- 13:54Brown catch. Yeah, because they had first and
- 13:56goal. with all the time left. They had like 37
- 13:59seconds. Time wasn't a factor. Not converting
- 14:03that touchdown definitely hurts, I feel like,
- 14:06a little bit. Just with momentum even coming
- 14:07back out in the second half. It's that interest.
- 14:10This is the fifth straight regular season game
- 14:12that the Bills have beat the Chiefs, but they're
- 14:14still winless in the playoffs against them. Just
- 14:17going to bring that up. That is just so weird.
- 14:19How do you come up undefeated 5 -0 in the regular
- 14:24season and then just come up shit? short every
- 14:26single time in the postseason. It's so weird.
- 14:28And Josh Allen is a magician. I mean, that little
- 14:31shovel pass, that 12 -yard shovel pass to Jackson
- 14:34Hawes, I don't think people understand in the
- 14:37speed of that game how impressive that is. He's
- 14:41just doing that because he can. Keeps his head
- 14:44on a swivel with the best of them. Out of the
- 14:46pocket. And, like, Bills sacked Mahomes three
- 14:49times, knocked him down 15. Mahomes threw for
- 14:53a season -low 44 % completion percentage. Never
- 14:56happened in his nine -year career. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:57He was under, like, 100. And what did he have,
- 14:59like, $1 .40 -something total passing or something
- 15:01like that? Or is that the... I saw some other
- 15:05Saturday. I remember it was like the first time
- 15:06in his career that he hasn't done either. But,
- 15:08yeah. Oh, it was under 50%. That's what you're
- 15:11talking about. Got after. Yeah. Completion percentage.
- 15:13This is a signature win. I mean, you're questioning
- 15:15their legitimateness after the Atlanta -New England
- 15:19loss. I mean, this is definitely a signature
- 15:21win. This is nice. I mean, the Buffalo defense
- 15:22really stepped up for me. You know what I mean?
- 15:25Because Kansas City's offense has kind of been
- 15:27coming alive the last few weeks. Really electric.
- 15:30Even without Taylor Rapp in that secondary. they're
- 15:33stepping it up for sure. No. And just, yeah,
- 15:35just able to shut them down. Maybe we'll shut
- 15:37them down. James cook on the other side of things.
- 15:39Look, continuing to look like a stud. Yeah. He
- 15:41carried it for 27 yards, but there's a couple
- 15:44bigger plays. You know, yeah, it's only the 4
- 15:47.2 average, which still, you know, I take that
- 15:50all day. But it's those bigger chunk plays that
- 15:53he's just a, you know, breakaway ability. He's
- 15:55got speed. He's game changer. James was cooking.
- 15:59James was cooking. Dalton Kincaid still continues
- 16:03to develop kind of as that safety blanket for
- 16:05Josh Allen. And also still has that big playability.
- 16:10Diggs with a second touchdown two weeks in a
- 16:13row. Maybe he'll get some bonuses for those four
- 16:17kids he's got on the way. Wait, Diggs for the
- 16:21Pats? Oh, the Pats, yeah. I was like, wait a
- 16:24minute. I was looking at the bills at the time,
- 16:26but then I got it stuck in my head. I'm like,
- 16:28what game are we talking about? Throwing curveballs
- 16:31over here. No, no, let me see here. What about
- 16:33Rasheed Rice? I mean, he's like their Swiss Army
- 16:36knife. Chiefs offense, lining up at Wildcat,
- 16:40getting jet motion, lining up in the backfield.
- 16:43I mean, he's everywhere for them. That dude's
- 16:46nice. He's probably what Xavier Worthy would
- 16:49want to be in that offense eventually. So as
- 16:51we wrap up here, we're not talking about either
- 16:53team in our preview show. So real quick for week
- 16:5610, real quick, Chiefs at Broncos next week.
- 16:59Wow. Oh, my gosh. Wait, are we talking about
- 17:01them? I think. Probably not. I mean, I think
- 17:04Chiefs get it done. Okay. I'm on Chiefs, too.
- 17:07Yeah. I mean, I don't think they can lose two
- 17:09in a row. I just don't think so. Okay. Fair enough.
- 17:12I think the Broncos get that done in their house.
- 17:15Wow, yeah. Tough place to play. They definitely
- 17:17could. You know, all altitude and all. But Bills,
- 17:21here we go. Oh, yeah. Okay. I mean, Bills at
- 17:24Miami. I mean, Bills, right? Yeah. It's not looking
- 17:28good. Miami could make it interesting. No, damn.
- 17:31I mean, I think Bills still win. You know, phones
- 17:34are ringing at the trade deadline today for Jalen
- 17:36Waddell and Chubb. Oh, yeah. And they said no
- 17:39to everything and wanted high dollar, I guess.
- 17:41Why wouldn't you? They must think they're bouncing
- 17:43back immediately next year. Do we have any Dolphins
- 17:45fans out there? I really want to know. Yeah.
- 17:47I'm really sorry about it. We're looking for
- 17:50Dolphins fans, Jets fans. We need to hear from
- 17:54you guys. What do you think they need to do at
- 17:57this point? Give it up in the comments, baby.
- 17:58Absolutely. All right, let's move on. Let's see.
- 18:00Game four. Let me scroll back up here. Where
- 18:04is it? 49ers at the Giants. Niners getting the
- 18:07win, 34 -24. And really, it's just, you know,
- 18:11for me, unless somebody else wants to start.
- 18:14Well, I'm just going to say the score looks closer
- 18:16than it really was. 49ers pretty much came out.
- 18:19Christian McCaffrey piling 173 yards scrimmage.
- 18:22Just looking good. He's still, I think, in that
- 18:24top five of that MVP talk. He keeps continuing
- 18:28like this. I mean, he's averaging over 100 scrimmage
- 18:33yards a week. And Mac Jones keeps getting it
- 18:38done. I still got to give up to Robert Salas,
- 18:41still getting that young defense flying all over
- 18:43the field, too. So 49ers still are competitive,
- 18:46even though their strength of schedule has been
- 18:49an easier one so far at the beginning of the
- 18:51season. And then the rest of the season is they
- 18:54got a few division games, but they kind of got
- 18:57an easier schedule. So I think, what, do they
- 18:59got six wins right now? Yeah, they're 6 -3. So
- 19:02getting that 9 -10 mark is not going to be too
- 19:05difficult, even though they're going to have
- 19:07to start playing those division games. pretty
- 19:09heavy in there so uh let's see I mean, the NFC
- 19:13West in general is tough. And when I saw that
- 19:17they got Brian Robinson Jr. in the offseason,
- 19:19I could only imagine what they could be. That
- 19:21one -two punch. First touchdown as a Niner. First
- 19:25touchdown as a Niner. Five rushes for 56 yards.
- 19:28I mean, you're averaging 10 yards a rush at that
- 19:31point. A Shanahan offense. Exactly. So that one
- 19:35-two punch. Talk about a spell back. Look out.
- 19:37If they're healthy, look out. On the other side
- 19:40of the ball, the New York Giants. We're going
- 19:43to talk about the Niners more in our preview
- 19:45show, so don't worry. You've got to find that
- 19:46Week 10 preview here on Gridiron Updates coming
- 19:49up. We'll have the Niners Rams in that show.
- 19:53But the Giants fall to 2 -7. Jackson Dart still
- 19:57showing us some good things. The only thing I
- 19:59would say is at times he seems to hold on the
- 20:02ball a little bit too long still, especially
- 20:05on those late developing plays and waiting when
- 20:08nothing's there. He seems a little bit slower.
- 20:11to make that decision. Either I've got to get
- 20:13out of here or he really tries to hang in there
- 20:15as long as possible. He's athletic. For me, if
- 20:19it's boom, boom, boom, not there, get out of
- 20:22there. Just go. You can go make a play, grab
- 20:24a five -yard slide. I'm cool with that. That's
- 20:26a rookie. He's still got 56 yards. He's still
- 20:30really good with his feet. Get out and go. Go
- 20:35a little bit sooner rather than he hangs around.
- 20:38That's kind of how he only took two sacks, but
- 20:41that's how we got them. But as a Giants fan,
- 20:43you've got to feel pretty good. You know, you
- 20:44have a chip and a chair moving on to next year.
- 20:48Well, and speaking of feeling good for Giants
- 20:50fans, it was cool seeing Brian Burns in the backfield
- 20:53creating chaos, you know, created that tip pick
- 20:56for Abdul Carter. So, again, just having those
- 21:00names thrown out there has just got to get you
- 21:02a little bit excited that these guys are finally
- 21:05starting to get something going for you other
- 21:07than half the defense. being able to tackle this
- 21:10week. And half of their offense on the IR. Yeah.
- 21:14The whole line, I think, right? Well, yeah. And
- 21:17then you have neighbors and the... Right, right.
- 21:19Shout out my boy, John Michael Schultz from University
- 21:23of Minnesota. Yeah. Roll the boat. Roll the boat.
- 21:27I don't even know if he's healthy or not. Shout
- 21:30out. Doesn't matter. Shout out. He's in the NFL.
- 21:32My dude. All right, let's go to our final game.
- 21:36The Broncos at the Texans. Another low -scoring
- 21:40affair, similar to the Panthers and Packers.
- 21:42Broncos getting the win, though. Ugly. With the
- 21:45last second field goal, 18 -15 over the Texans.
- 21:51Yes, yes, ugly. But they move 7 -2. Broncos moved
- 21:55to 7 -2. Did anybody see that coming at the beginning
- 21:57of the year, 7 -2? I mean, with the way they
- 21:58ended last season, a lot of people were very
- 22:01high on the Broncos. But 7 -2? Yeah, I had them.
- 22:05I mean, I kind of had them there. This game was
- 22:09really ugly. I was kind of looking through the
- 22:11stats of it. Do you know how many teams, both
- 22:14teams punted? How many times? Eight times apiece.
- 22:17There was a point in the game in the second half,
- 22:19seven consecutive punts in a row. So that's where
- 22:22it is. C .J. Stroud going down in the second
- 22:24quarter with a concussion just absolutely stopped
- 22:27the Texans from moving the ball the rest of the
- 22:29game. Broncos, you know, 4 -0 and trailing in
- 22:33the fourth quarter now. Knicks, I mean, make
- 22:37some plays here and there. Not a great passing
- 22:42percentage. But I was also looking at their strength
- 22:44of schedule. They have not played anybody at
- 22:47all, really. Other than the Chiefs at the beginning
- 22:51of the year, yeah, I agree with you. Yeah, they
- 22:53beat the Chiefs, and then the Texans here with
- 22:55a half team with C .J. Stroud. I'm really seeing
- 22:59an interest in the second half of the season.
- 23:01The Broncos beat the Chiefs? Yeah, week three,
- 23:03I believe. like 38 or 33, 27, something like
- 23:08that. So it'll be really interesting to see the
- 23:10Broncos on their second half. No, I haven't played
- 23:13the Chiefs yet this year. They haven't? You guys
- 23:14are both tripping. They beat the Bengals 28 -3.
- 23:17Maybe I'm thinking of the Chargers. They lost
- 23:19to the Chargers 23 -20. They had two L's in a
- 23:23row. Colts and Chargers. They took two L's in
- 23:25a row and then went on a tear. But who have they
- 23:27beat since then? The Eagles. They beat the Eagles
- 23:30by four. They beat the crap out of the Bengals.
- 23:32Joe Burrell, those Bengals. Beat the Giants by
- 23:36one. Beat the Jets by two. beat the Brakes off
- 23:40the Cowboys, and now only beat the Texans by
- 23:42three. So, yeah, that was close games. But we
- 23:45kind of saw the Chiefs, you know, we saw the
- 23:47Chiefs do that. Was it last year or the year
- 23:48before? I think it was last year. Kind of just
- 23:51hanging in there in every game, kind of giving
- 23:53these teams chances, but made the playoffs and
- 23:56made it run. Yeah. Denver's defense. Like, shout
- 23:59out, like, Bo Nix and, like, his maturity, like,
- 24:02over the season, I think. Yeah, you want to say,
- 24:05eh, only 18 points. I get it. Like, I'm there
- 24:07with you, Rob. But that very last drive. He was
- 24:12looking for the deep ball. I remember a very
- 24:14specific play, and he just took it to the other
- 24:17side of the field and scrambled for 25, 30 yards.
- 24:20Oh, to finish that play, yeah. Yeah, 25 -yard
- 24:22run at the end of the game. And, like, that right
- 24:24there is, like, not forcing anything, like, finding,
- 24:27like, being the young quarterback that he is,
- 24:29using his legs and finding open field and just
- 24:32taking advantage. And got him in the field goal,
- 24:33right? Exactly. To win the game. Put him in the
- 24:35position to win. That's all you have to do. That's
- 24:37what we're asking the J .J. McCarthy, right?
- 24:39Yes. The Vikings fans. Exactly that. Just get
- 24:41us. Get us to win. Yeah, the stat line isn't
- 24:43pretty, but did you win? And that's why the Broncos
- 24:46are 7 -2, because I think Bo Nix has taken that
- 24:49next step. But we'll see come postseason. See,
- 24:53that's the thing. So I got an interesting little
- 24:54thing. I was looking at the 24 QB draft class.
- 24:57You got Nix, Daniels, Williams, May, Penix, McCaffrey.
- 25:01So Nix has started 27 games. How many games do
- 25:05you think he's beaten a winning team? Oh, wow.
- 25:08Three. Wow. Out of 27 games. And one was in week
- 25:1218 against, I think it was against KC without
- 25:14the starting quarterback. Daniels, how many games?
- 25:17He started 26 games. How many games against a
- 25:20winning team has he beat? Five. Wow. Okay. That's
- 25:26where we're looking. And then you've got Williams
- 25:27with 24 starts. He's got two wins against above
- 25:31500 teams. McCaffrey's tied with him at two.
- 25:34McCarthy. McCarthy. May two only out of his 21
- 25:38starts. And Pinnock. Good stuff. Yeah. He has
- 25:4210 starts and only one win against a 500 above
- 25:45team. So when you start looking at it that way,
- 25:49you kind of look at that class a little different.
- 25:51I mean, yeah, you're looking at maybe their future.
- 25:53and then progressing and seeing the possibilities.
- 25:57But the stats against winning teams are kind
- 25:59of balancing them out because they're kind of
- 26:01the bottom teams, drafting low, playing that
- 26:04last -place schedule a bunch. Sure, which attracts.
- 26:06Yeah, attracts. No, that's interesting. Thanks
- 26:08for bringing that up. I like that. With that,
- 26:11gentlemen, that kind of wraps our Game 9 recap.
- 26:15It does. Just like that. Very interesting week.
- 26:18I mean, I got a lot of pictures. I mean, playoff
- 26:20pictures are starting to shape up a little bit.
- 26:22It's getting tighter. Division races are starting
- 26:25to heat up. Some are pulling away already. Summer's
- 26:29gone. Summer's gone, Dan. NFC East. It's going
- 26:31to snow this weekend in Minnesota. Why are the
- 26:34Cowboys the two seed with a 3 -5 -1 record? That's
- 26:39funny. But they made some moves like they're
- 26:40in it. Yeah. They did. They did make moves. Check
- 26:43in our tent talk for some of those. But, Dan,
- 26:46thanks for being here, man. Man, absolutely.
- 26:48This is awesome. Love talking NFL. Skull Vikes.
- 26:52Skull Vikes. Brilliant win this week. Brilliant.
