- 0:06[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, everybody.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome into the Cleveland Guardians on SI report.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Pat McWare alongside Cleveland Guardians on SI and Cider K. Crack is back here recapping a Miami Marlins sweep the Cleveland Guardians swept the Miami Marlins this weekend in South Beach, you know, a couple years back.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: I heard somebody call it South Beach.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully, they're making their men this weekend.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: But the Guardians got the business done against the Marlins Brian Rokio.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely on a tear, basically not far from his family down in Venezuela, too, Kade, we're going to have to dive into that.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: But a three game sweep, we're hoping for two out of three against that pitching staff against Miami, but Boyle boy did the bats come alive and they really came through when they needed it most.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think you look at the way that that Cleveland played this series.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was awesome.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: In the sense, a lot of the youngsters stepped up, Ryan Rokio continued his hot tear.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: We saw Travis Pazana do what he was doing, chased a lot or had some big moments as always.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then the
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: Electric star from him here today nine strikeout season now up to I think 105 strikeouts on the season Throw 101 innings pitch, so he continues to deal and I've just been super impressed the way the guys have answered the call here Without Jose Ramirez without on-home Martinez guys have answered the question of can this team stay afloat with them on the injured list and they've done just that So Pat I think everything's pointing to this team being a good spot moving forward the only thing now is can they keep us going outside of the all-star break?
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: They needed it in the worst way obviously coming off of that Chicago White Sox series that was a little bit of a let down You know, you won the first two in dramatic fashion that Thursday and Friday game and then they dropped the last two of that series tag with the white sox as we head into the All-Star Break here.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: We're recording this obviously at the beginning of the All-Star Break here But that series against the Miami Marlins you had to have them because even two out of three you were still a game behind the white sox there You wouldn't have necessarily felt great with basically a hundred games played at this point, but
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: guys like trees, the lotter guys like Brian Rokio coming through from the left hand side of the play too was a big thing obviously as well.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: Rokio when he can turn on a fastball, he's just showing everybody why he got snubbed for the all-star game because yeah, I mean, you know what, he doesn't necessarily have the name recognition, that sort of thing, but he is kind of the heart and soul of this team.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: I know the guys like Austin hedges, they're more of like the
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, older guard, I guess you could say on this team, Resuscans critical as in that veteran role, but Brian Rokio, he's got the opportunity to take it over and make it this team right now, because if you can get a playoff run with this team, especially against the white socks in the late going here, Brian Rokio in the clutch, he's critical for you.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've been impressed what we've seen from Roku, especially to just his ability to stay composed.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the big thing.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's answered the call numerous clutch moments.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: He shifted from the nine spot to the two spots to the three, four, five, six, whatever you've asked of him, he's been able to do it this season.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's been the exciting part about his
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: kind of just emergence as one of the leaders on this team.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to see what he can do to the back after the campaign.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: We saw last year in that final series of the year that I don't game with the year of regular season action against the Texas Rangers where we walked things off the foul pole that it had a couple weeks ago again as well but back at home and so I think that
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think Rocchio is really set himself up to be that passing of the torch.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: I know people were saying it was on a hill in Martinez a couple of series back a couple months ago, but I really think it's Brian Rocchio's squad and he has a chance really to take a whole of this team by the reins and make it what it is.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's funny too, because the, the rookies get so much of the headlines, though, K to obviously with with good reason, you know, chased a lot of Travis Bazana, those sort of guys, Bazana headed to the all-star game, of course, but guys who are sort of the old guard as I kind of mentioned, they can really take over this team at a certain point.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: The shortstop has always felt like it's the position that really makes the Guardians go.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, first base, we haven't really relied on that since the 90s, since the 2017 sort of, but catcher as well, but shortstop always seems like it is the most critical position.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Gabriel Areas, he's going to maybe have to try to find a different spot when Jose Ramirez comes back.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: But that left side of the infield, you got to feel pretty good about that for the next three years moving forward.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the big thing with that, too, is that there was a lot of questions raised when Areas went down just because of Rokio's inability to flash that arm at times.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: And time and time again, week after week, series after series, month by month, since Areas went down and then it has returned since, that's been right, Brian Rokio's spot.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's his spot.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's the short stop of the future for this program.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: And we've seen him not only be excellent on the field, but be excellent in the locker room and command the group and be a guy who's going to stand up for his teammates.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to stand up for what he believes in.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: And that's been the most exciting thing, Pat.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: And like talking to him in the locker room, I don't think that there's anyone I've enjoyed talking to more than Brian Rovegyo.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: And here he can speak.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like he just, he has this presence to him.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's so calm.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's so confident, but it's so humble at the same time.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited to see what his role kind of grows into be over the next couple of years.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, too.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: There's not really many other people besides Jose Ramirez with that type of aura in the Guardian's locker room as well, too.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: Can't be said that's not nothing, you know, I mean, he's got kind of a leadership aura about him, Brian Rokiel.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: When things are going well, obviously it's great to have the aura as well.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: Things are going pretty well for our Guardians Pictures as well too, Kate.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you didn't really have to rely on the bullpen.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't really give you a chance to kind of blow it necessarily.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: I would say, wasn't maybe their best showings in the later half of the the first half year, but Hunter Gadis making jumping diving throws as well.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: The first base plays like that where, you know, you've got the bullpen cooking a little bit.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: The pitching I was pretty impressed with, you know, you've wrote about Clevver Guardians on SI, you had Steven Vogue quoted talking about Joey Cantillo.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: He was very impressive as well, too, because one of the things about a kid is Joey.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's a little bit hit or miss here at certain points.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you've got your, you've got your guys that are critical for you.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: Joy can tell you able to get the job done for you in that win against the Marlins.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: Really good to finish the first half on a good note.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: The pitching has been pretty impressive as of late.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I go back to that question and asked Stephen vote earlier in the season.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was about maybe two months ago now at this point in time.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe mid May.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: I want to say, and I specifically asked vote.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: I said, you know, you look at Kentill, obviously he's playing great.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: And at that point in time, I'm pretty sure like a sub to ERA.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like he was torching on the mountain.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I know he had a couple slip ups in the month of June and kind of fell back a little bit on the back burner.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: But I asked him, I said, you know, what's been the biggest jump from, from 2025 Joey Kentill, which saw him get option at one point.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: to 2026 Joey Cancelo.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just said that mindset in that maturity.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: And if you watch Joey Cancelo Pat, that is the biggest thing.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like he doesn't get rid of anymore.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't go out there on the mound and start to self-destruct when things get a ride in the first second, third, fourth inning.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: He's going out there and he's giving you some time, six, seven, andnings of Joey Cancelo.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: I know his average is sitting at that five inning mark and that's a bad thing.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: But Joey Kentill just looks like a guy who's set to be in this this rotation moving forward.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know he was a question marketing of the year.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was, who's going to take the five spot?
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Is it going to be Joey Kentill, a Logan Allen Parker Messick?
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Who's going to take the four spot?
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: One of those three, will Joey Kentill start the year in AAA?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Will Parker Messick?
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: Will Logan Allen?
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: We saw Logan Allen do that.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that was the question mark.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Can Kentill be that go too lefty with Parker Messick?
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: And those two together have just really transformed this rotation into a very dynamic one.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: You've got your three stellar writings now in by the Williams and Sacconey.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: And now with Cantillo averaging out to be this really solid mid three ERA picture, it's working well, man.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I've been super excited to see that emergence in man.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: If Joey can't tell you to keep this up through the back half of the season, things should be looking good.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, you use the exact right word to emergence, too, because Joey can't tell that we've seen flashes of it, but the consistency is always the thing that we're talking about with these Cleveland Guardians seems like it comes and goes at the day, but as long as Joey can continue with that change, it seems like he's gotten away from it a little bit.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: We'll have to dive into those numbers as well a little bit.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: you know sometimes when people are sitting on that change up even if it's a plus pitch like you can get hit around a little bit but his game against you know Miami this weekend it was unbelievable he was able to basically shut down that line up too like there very I heard the broadcast talk about it too like they're kind of a passive approach team the Miami Marlins which I thought was a little bit interesting because it's actually great to put it
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a weird way to put it.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't really think about it that way like that they were a passive it seemed to me like the guardians pitchers really were attacking this weekend more so than that was a passive approach from the marlins maybe that's just our homer read on the things cade but it is good for me a good for the guardians I should say as we head into the break right now because they can really line up their pitching rotation you've only got baby basically like 65 games left to go in the season so you can line up your pitching rotation in a pretty solid way the rest of the way honestly I feel pretty good about the the AL central moon fort
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm curious now that you say that because, you know, we've seen due to some of the weather conditions, some of the injuries, not injuries, I guess, but guys get extra rest.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: We saw this rotation move from what was it that started the year was, by the Williams can't tell, so County, mess it correct.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's all over the world, which is good.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious to see, Pat, if when we come out of this all start break, if it returns a normal or if something changes, maybe you kind of move things around a little bit, because getting into that second half of the year, like, rooms at 100 games now.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: So this is where you really have to solidify what you're going to try to out come the postseason because you don't want to go into a situation where you get to the final few weeks of the year and all the sudden you're going oh we have to switch things around now so by the year somebody your Williams or Messick some guy who you know is going to be out there isn't going to be pitching on two days of rest or something like that heading into the postseason.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Now, when you get there and you get through that first series and then you go to the second, you're going to have to do that.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: But if you can get them settled, suddenly to something different in a little bit extra us maybe heading in that postseason, that might be what they're focusing on.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm curious to see, I don't know if they will change it.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: But if they do, now's the perfect time to do it, not somewhere in spot where you're in middle August and you're going, hey, let's slide this guy over here and move this guy up a day.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: It could happen.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we talked about it.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when they moved Gavin Williams one of his starts, you know, Carl Willas talked about it where, you know, he was like not his himself because he had an extra day and then another rest day.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: So he was basically seven days a full week in between making his starts don't really want that to be the case.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think Gavin Williams to be honest with you.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's got to be the one starter the rest of the way whether Tanner Bobby contract or not, you know, Gavin Williams he had 11 keys and back to back starts.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: that's the guy that you want out of the mound taking ball for game one right and uh... tander bibi i could see him taking the ball for a playoff game but currently i would rather have joe we are rather have parker mesic taking the ball for game two elimination game tander bibi he can get himself a little bit keyed up something along those lines i don't really uh... i don't hate the way that that looks
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not how I thought it was going to be at three games in a season.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: We were really hoping Tanner Bible was going to take that leap this season.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't really seem like he's been able to do it consistently.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: There's that word again, consistency, right?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: But Tanner Bible, he's got the ability.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: We don't doubt that whatsoever, but I think another thing that can't be discredited here, Kate, is that last year that 15 and a half game come back.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: That was amazing.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: History making all of the important things.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: It taxed your bullpen.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: It really taxed your starting rotation as well.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to be a very different down the stretch for the Cleveland Guardians, especially if they can get a couple of games here over the White Sox as well.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: You come out of the break against the Pittsburgh Pirates back at home.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: You've got a nice long home stand.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully you can get a couple of games up here on the White Sox.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: But the big thing to me is resting that starting rotation and resting that button.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm curious to see if we, I mean, we talked about it with Carlos, I think it was last week, two weeks ago maybe about how the starting rotation hasn't gone down at all this year, which we've had the same starting five all campaign and that's the only team immediately baseball who have done that that's the only major league team and baseball that is not an injuries to their starting rotation and that to me is is awesome and obviously not going to wood with that, but um,
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about a scene that might need a little bit of that at times, like they might need a little bit of a change, maybe a bullpen game, maybe a time where you get a little bit extra rest in that sort of circumstance.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm curious to see if they at least try out here in the near future.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: If they don't, I think there's a world where maybe we see a six-man rotation for the last couple of weeks.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't feel
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: realistic with with the same five to the entire season, at least from the health perspective.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Like I feel like you almost need to have some sort of, you know, Sunday game where you throw out your bullpen or you've already won a series and you're going, hey, here's Daniel Espino for the first two innings, here's Matt Festa for three and four, and then you go at the rest of the bullpen from there, Pat, but I don't know.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's just something to throw out, but I just feel like it doesn't make much sense.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: at least from the baseball world perspective for the guardians to get through the whole year with the same starting five, no bullpen games, no changes, no nothing.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean it could happen, but it seems very unlikely.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: not come wood like you said to I mean you can see guys they do that in the minor leagues all the time where they call it piggybacking right where you've got a starter and then the next guy comes in and he's in there for three to four innings as well that's kind of the plan that we saw that with Daniel Espino quite a bit he was the opener I don't mind doing something like that for you know rest purposes that sort of thing I think we're gonna see Daniel Espino get some more run here later in the season obviously you're gonna be taking care of that arm quite a bit but I wouldn't be shocked to see more openers like you're mentioning because yeah it's great if you've got five
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: You've been lively.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: I saw somebody talking to him as well on social media where it's like, well, I mean, in theory you could get an update on him at some point in time, uh, not holding our breath, not like we need him necessarily, but another arm wouldn't be, you wouldn't hurt you, especially to take like Logan Allen or somebody along those lines where you're, you're not going to a six-man rotation, but their spot starts here and there.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: It would pretty much help your bullpen a good amount as well, especially if you've got double headers.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: the Guardians have been pretty lucky.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: They haven't had too many double headers this season, especially with the Reigns with all the Reigns that we've gotten.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't had too many of those, which is pretty good.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: But ultimately, you do want to rest your bullpen and your starter's moving forward, Cade, because this is the stretch run, man.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like you've got 65 plus games headed into the end of the season.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: You're tied at the first place with the Skyo White Sox, right?
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, anywhere we are right now at the All-Star Break, tied with the Chicago White Sox, not where I thought I'd be.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: What would your letter grade be for the first half of the Guardians?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a great question.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's one that, you know, I feel like speaking talked about heavily right now.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give a solid B. I think it's that solid B because we haven't seen some consistency.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: We always say it here on the show.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: That consistency is going to be a big thing for the guardians down the back half the year.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be the maker break thing that either sends them to that next level where they will legitimately can go fight for an ALCS and make their way all the way towards the world series.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: Or it's going to be the thing that ends up bouncing that first round of narrowly missing that the the the
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm curious to see how that kind of goes to the back half of the season.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's a group of youngsters.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: I know we're not going to always see consistency from guys like Delauder and Bisona in Watson and even Mexican continual thrown into that bunch guys who still haven't been seasoned to the game just yet.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: But those are the guys that make or break what happens.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like we saw Delauder at the beginning of the season, forced this team to win games against the Mariners and then move into that opening series at home against Chicago.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: Dolana was the difference maker, you know, he's been electric now to 11 home runs of the season.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's the team high.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's, he's one of those guys that can change the game in the swing of a bat.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I come back to those guys being the difference major between a B season, a C season or an A season.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like we're in this B spot because of that reliability and consistency being such a question mark from the bats, from the bullpen, from the starting rotation.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: If everyone can just even out and we can have guys consistently go out there and toss
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: a 35 ERA and Bouts go out there consistently hit 250.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be sitting in a nice spot come you know October where I can go out there and say this is probably an A minus you know but right now I'm sitting with that B
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a B minus for me because, you know, the injuries.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, it's nothing you can control.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: You've had chased a lot of those guys missed time.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: Jose Ramirez as well.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: But at a certain point, there's been quite a bit of mismanagement.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: If you do ask me, I was smiling over there when you were talking about chased a lot or because, yeah, this is what got that you can lead your team in.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think back to Gab Gaudi's tweets, what was that in basically like,
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: October of last year.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, we've only been calling for this guy to be at the Major League level since 2023.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: He could have been up here, you know, you won't give him his MLB debut in the playoffs.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of unbelievable to think about.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: We've just sort of swept that under the rug where he's in all time, not all-time talent, but he was an all-time guy that we needed up here.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: You don't see guys who make history and making their MLB debut in the playoffs like that.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: Chased a lotter is a talent that we've been needing for a long time.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of on the front office that they didn't call him up earlier, but we'll dive into that another day.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: I've got some more gripes, obviously with Chris Antonetti in the front office, but we'll save those for another day, because Chase's a lotter, he's coming back to life a little bit for a while there.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: He only had seven homerons and four or five more in the first week, as you mentioned, but seems like he's really starting to see the ball again really well, because
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he can pull those hands in, Cade.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: They are lasers out to right field.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: He had a 425 foot bomb here at home.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: He had another one here in the ninth inning against the Marlins right before the break as well.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: That guy from the left hand side of the plate, people continue to draw those greedy size more comparisons.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: He's looking more like Travis Haffner to me.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, that's the thing with with with Galar when he gets a hold of a ball.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: Here's no data is just spectacular.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like you can you can see it come off the barrel and you're going, all right.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're as well, does, does off the hands to run and get the ball back in a hand for the picture because that one's out of here in, in, you see it.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: And again, too, we talk about confident to such a big thing because unfortunately, as as the Guardians have seen the past couple of weeks, Pat, we've seen how confidence makes a player.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: And we've seen how a lack of it breaks a player.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the perfect example of the lotter in one hand and angle in the other.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, this presents such unique option where if you're the organization, you kind of get to look at your rookies now at a different light.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like you can see how a guy like Chase, a lotter, can have such an excellent spell where he's hitting the ball incredibly well.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's playing well.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know, in the field when he gets opportunities there, he's primarily de-aching.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that comparison to what we saw from Engel is the unfortunate side of how some rookies can play.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: And we're seeing then the middle ground of that where Khalil Watson has had some really good marks, but also some really bad marks along the way as well, but he's kept himself afloat with that general confidence understanding of himself.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got three direct looks at rookies in the sense of the lot of playing really well.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: Watson kind of in this middle stage and Engel and Fortune being option after 21 at bats.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, you know, this makes me take a step back.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think bless is the wrong word, but how cool of a year it's been to see this guardians roster.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm really actually I'm really used to word bless because in this setting like you've seen so many rookies.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're like 13 or 14 this year.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: And to be able to witness this young of a crew come through, I mean we're seeing the makings of this future within like our
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: And some of the rookies in the youngsters we can be seeing right now could be the making of a team that's leading us to World Series.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's unbelievable to think about it so exciting here in Cleveland as well, too, because even as the team continues to play at such a young with such youth, I guess you could say, you said 13 or 14 rookies, like it's a 26-man roster, dude.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like that is 50% of your team, basically at any given point.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: I know that's not on a rolling situation, but out of the 26-men, that you have on your roster, people rotate in and out, but 13 rookies at any given time over the course of a season is kind of unbelievable to think about.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_02]: Just the way that they're managing a Steven vote.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: I know people myself included are not necessarily loving some of the moves that he's made But you do have to commend the way that he's been able to get these young guys rolling and pitching continually well as well It helps when the pitching gets going as well the second half of this season, man I think it's gonna be really critical because people forget how late the all-star break is at a lot of points because we're basically a hundred games in as I've said over and over by easy
- 19:24[SPEAKER_02]: There's only 65 games basically left in this season before you're headed to the postseason.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's where guys really start to make their mark, hopefully chase the lotter with another playoff experience, experiencing it at home to if you can get another A.L.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: Central Crown.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would be absolutely critical, Kate, any final thoughts before we head into the Emily Ulster Break.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've got to ask you here before we go because we're starting to slowly but surely get towards that point September call ups adding to extra guys to the roster.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious to see who it could be and in funny enough, I actually was starting to write about it here before we have done about who potential September call ups could be.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think obviously Daniel Espino fits into that bunch.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: He'd be a great one to bring up to the big league squad.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think Andrew Walther says a guy you could consider he's healthy by the time the end of the season approaches.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: I said, I think I sent out on a tweet that I was been lively at.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: He would have been a great guy to call up at this point in the year.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: We've been plannings in the middle stages.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm going to go with though.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: The two guys you look at for September call, staying in the hospital for one.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that for the side at the plate, I think you're probably considering Cooper Engle again.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's a guy to get in there, gets in time, maybe behind home plate, flexing the DH of you can continue that power, codey, help is a guy who comes to mind.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, for CJ K, just sitting here for yourself for today.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: If Cooper angle does come back up, would you in the hypothetical situation where you need an emergency third catcher?
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: Do you go to David Fryer?
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: Do you go to Cooper angle there?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's a great question.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think it depends on if you're in the right position in the postseason.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: In the postseason, you have to go for David Fryer because of the at least the general experience.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: I know he's not the best catcher in the world, but neither is Cooper angle at this point in time.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's a good hint.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's a great question.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're kind of
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're sitting in a situation where you've had such great play from Patrick Bailey in Austin, head to just both at the plate and behind it the past month or so.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: So you're not too concerned there.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: I really do think that you might actually look to Cody Huff, because Cody Huff is a guy who's one third base in the first base and that gives you a little bit more flexibility at both of those positions when you need a Kyle Manzardo in the lineup for Reece Hoskins.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I think that, you know, this is TimberColopsis, you're going to be really, really critical for the guardians.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: And it's going to have a major red dot on who it's going to be.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: I know the sun's coming in now is the sun.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: It comes up this morning here on Monday, but I'm curious to see, you know, what happens here comes at TimberColopsis.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know what, I mean, a lot of people are clamoring for Ralphie Velasquez up in the major league level too.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, our minor league analysts, I guess you call Justin and Jeff, they they want a little bit more seasoning for him, but I wouldn't be too shocked to see him up towards the later end of the year.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's much leash left for Kalman's art.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oh,
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: You know we're coming off the heels of the futures game where Ralphie Flask has made a sparkling diving play a doubled up at the first base Great play in the futures game, so Ralphie getting a little bit of run on the national stage We could see him in Cleveland here.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: We could see him later in the season potentially in the playoffs a lot of good options for our Guardians before they inevitably
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully make the playoffs and before that, you know, the lockout, the impending lockout, I think that affects there's the ball, too, because you do want to get a little bit of a look at those prospects as well.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: Ralphie Laskas, I don't think he's too far away.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: I just think my comments are those time might be up here and Cleveland pretty soon, but we're going to have to dive into that later.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: K, because we've got more to dive into later this week.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: about the Guardians trade deadline approaching their second half preview as well.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's only one place to get all that news though that is Cleveland Guardians on S.I.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: K.D.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: and an unbelievable job over there.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: Just all of the articles that you've got written for the second half coming up the first half recap as well.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you yourself get yourself on over there too because this Marlin series, that recap as well.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: Brian Rokio taking over.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you see that recap over there.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a great time over on Cleveland Guardians on S.I.B.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: You can't miss out on everything there.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you go back to it.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's a combination of
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: Prospect outlook.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: We're looking at the MLB draft as well right now and then obviously to speak time series went over the the the marlins and I I do want to stress again.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: We've got so many great writers over there.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: We've got a ton of coverage I mean we'll look at three four five articles a day.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Cleveland Gardens on SI and you can also head over to Cleveland Browns on SI Cleveland Cavaliers on SI the Troy Pistons on SI Baltimore Orals on SI Baltimore Ravens on SI Ohio State buck guys on SI.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: We got everything man.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: The big place sports network covers everything and we've got all the coverage over there on SI again
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: But the number one spot should be Cleveland Guardians.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: Of course not.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: Don't miss a thing when we talk about our Cleveland Guardians.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you're tuned in here on the Big Play Cleveland YouTube channel as well.

- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: K, do in a great job over there and K, that cannot wait to see this home run Derby, this MLB all-star break.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: The whole thing we got planned up going on the second half of the season should be incredible one.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to dive into it.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_02]: We'll get to that as we come up here, Kate, it's going to be a really exciting time so you're in Cleveland, LeBron, watch, obviously the Cleveland Browns.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like you mentioned, first and foremost though, for the two of us, our Cleveland Guardians, we'll talk to you next time on the Cleveland Guardians on a site report.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: On the biggest stage in the world, Fandle is changing the game because sometimes your player gets subbed off and your back goes with them.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: Not anymore, with Fandle's super sub, if your player is subbed out, your bet stays in.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's right, if your player loses a match, your bet continues on with the substitute.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: So you're still in until the final whistle.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: Because in matches like these, anything can happen and now, your back can go the distance.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: Let there be goals that summer on Fandle.
