- 0:03Speaker 1: Ready.
- 0:06Speaker 2: There's a famous quote that says, in order to get
- 0:08Speaker 2: something that you've never had, you got to do something
- 0:10Speaker 2: that you've never done.
- 0:18Speaker 3: You will to prove you have to don't freak about.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I've been in situations where I freeze when it's paying time.
- 0:26Speaker 3: I'm toured out.
- 0:26Speaker 4: I hope that this course will allow me to be
- 0:28Speaker 4: the old carry.
- 0:32Speaker 3: You have to be hungry, you have to be tough,
- 0:34Speaker 3: and you must never give up.
- 0:36Speaker 4: The devil on my shoulder is going, you can't do this.
- 0:39Speaker 3: You're not meant to be here to go home.
- 0:41Speaker 4: I'm just trying to believe in the angel that's telling
- 0:44Speaker 4: me you can do it.
- 0:46Speaker 3: This is the almost famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Almost famous the Ogs Bob and Trista with breaking news.
- 0:56Speaker 1: This is crazy, absolutely crazy. I just watched My Lions
- 1:02Speaker 1: whoop up and go to nine to one nine on one.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'm getting ready for bed, and all of a sudden,
- 1:07Speaker 1: all of a sudden, my phone's blowing up about late
- 1:09Speaker 1: breaking news starring yours truly, Trista Sutter Nay Wren Trista.
- 1:16Speaker 1: This is insanity, honestly, Okay, So let's set the stage here. Trista,
- 1:22Speaker 1: obviously former professional Dancer, the fairy Godmother the Bachelor franchise.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Trista comes along shocking me all the time, constantly surprising me.
- 1:32Speaker 1: This one, I would say, is probably the biggest of
- 1:34Speaker 1: the surprises. May I just come out and say it?
- 1:39Speaker 1: You were Special Forces Fox? I mean, I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Is that is that the official name?
- 1:48Speaker 3: What is it? What is the official name?
- 1:50Speaker 4: Special Forces? World's Toughest Test is what it's called. And
- 1:53Speaker 4: it's season three. I am following in the footsteps of
- 1:56Speaker 4: Hannah Brown, who was on the first season. This is
- 1:59Speaker 4: Bachelor Nation people obviously who won, and.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Then she.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Won the first season with another woman she's a soccer player.
- 2:09Speaker 4: And then Tyler and uh yeah, duh. I was like,
- 2:17Speaker 4: come to me, brain. Tyler and Nick were on the
- 2:20Speaker 4: second season from Bachelor they won. So I have very
- 2:25Speaker 4: big shoes to fill. But I am on the next
- 2:29Speaker 4: season of Special Forces, and I'm joined by fellow Bachelor
- 2:32Speaker 4: Nation alumni Ali Fedotowski or Ali Mono wo Ali Mano.
- 2:38Speaker 4: So yeah, I it was. We can get into it.
- 2:42Speaker 4: But I'm here in l A to do you press
- 2:45Speaker 4: for the show. With most of the contestants, I think
- 2:51Speaker 4: everybody but one person could be here at least from
- 2:53Speaker 4: what I understand. So I'm really excited to see everybody tomorrow.
- 2:59Speaker 4: It's a big day. But of course wanted to give
- 3:02Speaker 4: you the scoop first because you know it's our podcast.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So well, man, I'll tell you what. The AFOG podcast
- 3:10Speaker 1: just keeps on hitting.
- 3:11Speaker 3: We keep on bringing the hard hitting news. I love this.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I gotta be honest with you.
- 3:16Speaker 1: When I saw the concept of this show, I was
- 3:17Speaker 1: always like, Wow, that is that is for some crazy people.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I don't think I would ever do.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And it was more along the lines of the fact
- 3:24Speaker 1: that it was just like, you know, having a dude
- 3:27Speaker 1: from a boot camp and my face barking up my tree,
- 3:30Speaker 1: carrying boats through swamps and all sorts of craziness. I'm
- 3:35Speaker 1: sure there's some things you can't tell me, like where
- 3:37Speaker 1: was it filmed and when and all that kind of stuff.
- 3:39Speaker 3: But you know, I'm so excited to talk about that.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Oh yeah, good, let's talk about it, because I'm.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Sure I can say that, yeah, we do this all
- 3:48Speaker 4: the way to the beginning and tell you yes, how
- 3:51Speaker 4: I go, Yeah, absolutely.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Okay.
- 3:53Speaker 4: So so it's really funny. I actually posted this on
- 3:56Speaker 4: my store the other day and and it makes me
- 4:00Speaker 4: sad that I'm not talking to her right now, just
- 4:02Speaker 4: because she's part of this story. But Ashley, we were
- 4:06Speaker 4: at the Golden Wedding and I don't know if you
- 4:09Speaker 4: saw my story, but we were at the Golden Wedding
- 4:11Speaker 4: and Ryan and I and the kids were standing next
- 4:14Speaker 4: to Ashley and Jared and we were just chatting waiting
- 4:17Speaker 4: to go inside, and she said, have you been asked
- 4:23Speaker 4: to do Special Forces yet? And I said no, I mean,
- 4:28Speaker 4: what are you kidding? And I mean, I don't know
- 4:34Speaker 4: exactly what I said, but it was something on that
- 4:36Speaker 4: to that effect. And she was like, I think you're
- 4:40Speaker 4: going to be the next person from Bachelor Nation to
- 4:43Speaker 4: be asked.
- 4:44Speaker 5: And I was like, you're crazy. There's no way.
- 4:47Speaker 4: First of all, they're gonna want me, and second of
- 4:49Speaker 4: all that.
- 4:49Speaker 5: I would do that. That was a crazy Town show.
- 4:54Speaker 4: And just it's just it's so up Ryan's alley, right, yea,
- 5:02Speaker 4: oh my gosh, so up Bryan Sally, so not up
- 5:05Speaker 4: my alley at least, you know, I thought until I
- 5:08Speaker 4: got there, No, I'm just kidding. So I I just
- 5:14Speaker 4: kind of, you know, blew it off. I was like,
- 5:15Speaker 4: that's that's so silly. And then This was months before
- 5:19Speaker 4: I even got approached to be on the show. So
- 5:24Speaker 4: I work with Paul DeSisto, and they contacted him and
- 5:30Speaker 4: said they were interested in having me on the show.
- 5:33Speaker 4: And I was He goes, would you do Special Forces?
- 5:38Speaker 4: I probably have the text would you do Special Forces?
- 5:40Speaker 5: And I said, guess what?
- 5:43Speaker 4: I said?
- 5:45Speaker 3: No? But Ryan would?
- 5:48Speaker 6: It wasn't just that, it was hell, no, God. I
- 5:55Speaker 6: was like, don't you don't you want my husband?
- 6:00Speaker 3: The wrong ar.
- 6:04Speaker 4: My next Trista.
- 6:05Speaker 5: I'm a woman, I'm fifty to fifty one years old.
- 6:07Speaker 5: And anyway, so I told Ryan.
- 6:13Speaker 4: About it and and Max and my family, and Ryan
- 6:19Speaker 4: was like, why wouldn't you like this would be an
- 6:23Speaker 4: incredible experience for you? And and I'm thinking to myself, oh.
- 6:30Speaker 6: Oh god, really you think this would.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Be a good thing?
- 6:37Speaker 4: And then he did like flip my mind, like he
- 6:42Speaker 4: he just made me really think about it. And so
- 6:44Speaker 4: I wrote Paul back and I said, hold up, let
- 6:48Speaker 4: me think about this. Let me actually like watch a
- 6:52Speaker 4: couple shows really know what I'm getting into. Because I
- 6:55Speaker 4: had seen I think maybe one or two, but I
- 6:58Speaker 4: hadn't really thought.
- 7:00Speaker 5: About me being on it. You know.
- 7:02Speaker 4: From that perspective, I was just watching as like a viewer, right,
- 7:07Speaker 4: and do.
- 7:07Speaker 1: They tell you at this point when they call you,
- 7:09Speaker 1: do they say, and we're also talking to Ali Mano,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and we think the two of you would be a
- 7:12Speaker 1: great team or is there none of that yet?
- 7:15Speaker 5: Okay, No, that they don't.
- 7:16Speaker 4: They don't share with you any other cast members until
- 7:21Speaker 4: you get there. Okay, you you're you're not supposed to
- 7:25Speaker 4: know about anybody else. Yeah, so no, I had no
- 7:30Speaker 4: idea who would be doing it and.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Let's see.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Uh so Ryan and I talked, talked more watch the shows,
- 7:40Speaker 4: and He's like, I really do think that you should
- 7:41Speaker 4: do this. I think that you you you know. At
- 7:46Speaker 4: this point in time, I was really struggling with what
- 7:51Speaker 4: I'm who I'm going to be when my kids go
- 7:54Speaker 4: off to college, like when we are.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Empty nesters conversation.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it's crazy, Like I'm a stay at home mom,
- 8:02Speaker 4: stay at home and work mom, I say, but I
- 8:05Speaker 4: pour myself into our kids and that's my that's my
- 8:10Speaker 4: primary job is household manager, stay at home mom, you
- 8:14Speaker 4: know all of that stuff. And I'm like, who am
- 8:17Speaker 4: I going to be?
- 8:18Speaker 5: Truly? Who am I going to be?
- 8:20Speaker 4: Who do I want to be when my kids are gone,
- 8:24Speaker 4: and I really was like, you know what, I feel
- 8:28Speaker 4: like this will give me such good perspective on what
- 8:31Speaker 4: I want out of life. Who get back to the
- 8:34Speaker 4: real me, Like, not not that I'm not the real
- 8:37Speaker 4: me with my kids, but get back to who I
- 8:41Speaker 4: am at my core. You know, who trist is, not
- 8:45Speaker 4: just trist as the mom, trist as the wife, Trista
- 8:47Speaker 4: as the friend, whatever.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Just well, I think there's something to this, like remember,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and obviously I know it's a different stage in life,
- 8:53Speaker 1: but when we talk with Joan from the Golden Bachelorette
- 8:55Speaker 1: and she was like, I feel invisible and I got
- 8:58Speaker 1: to see who I am again, and you know, I
- 9:00Speaker 1: realized this is a much different stage in life than,
- 9:02Speaker 1: of course where Joan is. But I think women, you know,
- 9:05Speaker 1: certainly go through those passages in life because, like you said,
- 9:09Speaker 1: you've been pouring yourself into your kids for the last
- 9:12Speaker 1: eighteen years, and you know, now all of a sudden,
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's going to be one of those things where you know,
- 9:18Speaker 1: who am I?
- 9:18Speaker 3: Do I have the gumption I used to have? Do
- 9:20Speaker 3: I have the you know? I mean, wow, what a
- 9:22Speaker 3: great way to find out. I'm so excited.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Well and It's also like a once in a lifetime opportunity.
- 9:31Speaker 4: You know, people, I actually wanted also to go on
- 9:34Speaker 4: the show because Ryan would have loved to be there.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I actually I'm going to talk to the Fox people
- 9:40Speaker 4: tomorrow and put his name in the ring, and I'm
- 9:43Speaker 4: gonna put his name over and over because he would
- 9:46Speaker 4: thrive in this environment. He wanted to be in the
- 9:49Speaker 4: military and just keep COLORLND like that's crazy, you know,
- 9:53Speaker 4: he just it never happened.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Hey, you already got me secured for an invitation for
- 10:08Speaker 1: the Golden Bachelorette wedding, So just let him know. If
- 10:11Speaker 1: Ryan's in, I'll do it with him and we'll be
- 10:12Speaker 1: roommates again, just like just like when we were both
- 10:15Speaker 1: buying for your love and attention back in the day.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, I would love it. So I just
- 10:21Speaker 4: feel like, you know, I kind of wanted to do
- 10:24Speaker 4: it for him. I wanted to make him and my
- 10:28Speaker 4: kids proud of me. I want to show my kids
- 10:31Speaker 4: that you can do anything that you put your mind to,
- 10:34Speaker 4: that you can do hard things and things that aren't
- 10:39Speaker 4: necessarily in the path of who you think you're going
- 10:42Speaker 4: to be, but be open to all opportunities in your
- 10:46Speaker 4: life and don't just say hell no, hell yeah.
- 10:52Speaker 3: There is there. I mean, obviously it is a reality show.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of eyes on it, so
- 10:56Speaker 1: I would imagine it's also I mean, I'm not that
- 10:59Speaker 1: I can tell already that's not the motivator behind you
- 11:01Speaker 1: doing it, but I'm sure there was a decent payday
- 11:03Speaker 1: involved as well. So it's like there's got to be
- 11:05Speaker 1: some of that, you know, circulating like Okay, I could
- 11:08Speaker 1: do this.
- 11:08Speaker 3: The kids are getting ready to go to college.
- 11:10Speaker 1: You know, you never know if you're ready for all
- 11:13Speaker 1: that either, And you know, I mean, was that a
- 11:14Speaker 1: motivator at all?
- 11:16Speaker 4: No, I feel like I just I really wanted to
- 11:19Speaker 4: be part of this opportunity. And you know what, like
- 11:23Speaker 4: I have a very very strong respect for our military. Yeah,
- 11:29Speaker 4: my dad was in the Army, he was in Vietnam.
- 11:32Speaker 4: My grandfather fought in World War Two, he was a pilot.
- 11:37Speaker 4: My father in law was in the Navy. Like I
- 11:39Speaker 4: have people in my life that I have Navy seals
- 11:44Speaker 4: as friends. You know, I know a lot of people
- 11:47Speaker 4: who are in the military and respect them. And all
- 11:50Speaker 4: the people that I don't know who have been in
- 11:52Speaker 4: the military, and I really wanted to learn, just get
- 11:57Speaker 4: a little teeny tiny piece of information, knowledge, wisdom of
- 12:03Speaker 4: what they go through, you know, like I being part
- 12:08Speaker 4: of the show is like, you know, squeezed, like basic
- 12:13Speaker 4: training I think is months and months and months.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Right, this was ten days, So.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you can ask you this.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Though, was it the ten physically and mentally hardest days
- 12:25Speaker 1: of your last couple of decades of your life? I mean,
- 12:28Speaker 1: because it looks like, oh, it tests you to your core.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Like when I watch that show, I'm just like I
- 12:33Speaker 1: am a nervous ball of energy watching it because I
- 12:36Speaker 1: feel like I'm going to throw up. I feel like
- 12:37Speaker 1: I'm so stressed out where you feeling that way? Like
- 12:39Speaker 1: I would think it's even getting outfitted for the close
- 12:42Speaker 1: before the whole thing, it would have me ready to
- 12:44Speaker 1: break down in tears.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I'd be a mess, you know what, Like.
- 12:48Speaker 5: I before, Yes, I was a mess.
- 12:51Speaker 4: I listened to podcasts, I read books like I. I
- 12:56Speaker 4: tried to get myself mentally prepared. I talked to my
- 13:01Speaker 4: friend who is a Navy seal. He is like a
- 13:05Speaker 4: not a he's like in charge. I don't know, I
- 13:07Speaker 4: don't know how what his title is or whatever. But
- 13:11Speaker 4: he's he's very well respected in the Navy Navy Seal community,
- 13:14Speaker 4: and I just wanted to say, like, what, what advice
- 13:18Speaker 4: would you give? I did also talk to gosh, you
- 13:24Speaker 4: do like you go through all of these medical like testing,
- 13:30Speaker 4: psychological testing, whatever. And before we started, I talked to
- 13:36Speaker 4: the doctor on staff.
- 13:37Speaker 5: And he said, he gave me this quote.
- 13:40Speaker 4: That you want to be Oh gosh, what was it?
- 13:47Speaker 4: Uh naive enough to start and stubborn enough to finish.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Oh wow, that's awesome, right, And I was.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Like, I am really stubborn, so I'm really hopeful, but no,
- 14:05Speaker 4: I you know. I I ended up telling Paul obviously
- 14:08Speaker 4: that I wanted to do it, and I did have
- 14:11Speaker 4: to get through some medical some medical drama because I
- 14:17Speaker 4: have had I've had back surgery, I had a fusion,
- 14:21Speaker 4: a lumbar fusion, and at first they weren't going to
- 14:25Speaker 4: clear me after hearing about that because of some of
- 14:30Speaker 4: the activities that you saw in the promo that I
- 14:32Speaker 4: got pushed off of a boat, yeah, into like open water,
- 14:37Speaker 4: and they were I think they were worried that that
- 14:39Speaker 4: would cause issues with my back. But like I talked
- 14:44Speaker 4: to doctors who were you know who had worked with
- 14:49Speaker 4: worked with me on my pain management after my surgery.
- 14:53Speaker 4: I've been great after my fusion. I've been awesome.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Like I feel.
- 14:59Speaker 4: I've always said, like I wish I would have done
- 15:00Speaker 4: my surgery sooner, so it been like ten years ago
- 15:04Speaker 4: or whenever, you know, before my surgery, then yeah, I
- 15:07Speaker 4: would have been like, there's no way I can do
- 15:08Speaker 4: this show. But I was like, please just give me
- 15:12Speaker 4: the chance to, like, you know, try it, and if
- 15:14Speaker 4: I feel at any point that the risk is not
- 15:18Speaker 4: worth it, then I will VW, which is voluntarily withdrawal.
- 15:23Speaker 4: And that's the beauty of this show. It's not a
- 15:26Speaker 4: competition show where you are competing against other people. I
- 15:30Speaker 4: mean kind of you are in a way just because
- 15:35Speaker 4: I wanted to be like, you know, as good as
- 15:37Speaker 4: other people and I didn't want to be a burden
- 15:40Speaker 4: and that kind of thing. But it really is truly
- 15:43Speaker 4: an individually challenging show. You're just it's you against you.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it, how you come from day one to
- 15:51Speaker 1: day ten. Right, It's like I would imagine that's a
- 15:54Speaker 1: big part of it.
- 15:55Speaker 5: Yeah, that's it.
- 15:56Speaker 4: So I really wanted to challenge myself and to get
- 16:00Speaker 4: out of kind of the rut and not that I'm
- 16:02Speaker 4: in a rut, like I'm really happy, we have a
- 16:04Speaker 4: happy life, the kids are great, Ryan's great, like, we're great,
- 16:08Speaker 4: all of that. It wasn't like a rut in terms
- 16:11Speaker 4: of my relationships. It was more of a rut of
- 16:14Speaker 4: like who am I and who am I going to
- 16:16Speaker 4: be when my kids leave? And what do I want
- 16:19Speaker 4: to teach them at this point in my life and
- 16:21Speaker 4: through this opportunity, hopefully go for it about straight.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Well, let's let's talk a little about that too, Like, so,
- 16:27Speaker 1: you know, you we had some drama earlier in the
- 16:31Speaker 1: year that was kind of stirred up, you know, social
- 16:34Speaker 1: media style, and it was it was really you know,
- 16:38Speaker 1: and I'm starting to connect the dots in my head
- 16:40Speaker 1: right now timeline wise, right, So it was really right
- 16:43Speaker 1: around that time that I'm sure you were either already
- 16:47Speaker 1: out the door or whatever you might have been doing.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Let us know, Like, I mean, I obviously know you
- 16:52Speaker 1: you and and Ryan are fine, but I remember some
- 16:53Speaker 1: people were like speculating like, oh my god, it's the
- 16:56Speaker 1: end of you know, it's the end of Tristan Ryan.
- 16:58Speaker 1: This must be what's going on. And it was based
- 16:59Speaker 1: off of a very heartfelt, very emotionally you know, charged.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Post from Ryan.
- 17:09Speaker 1: He was like, I love you so much and I
- 17:11Speaker 1: just I don't know what to do without you here
- 17:13Speaker 1: right now. It's like, you know, and so people were like,
- 17:15Speaker 1: what the hell's going on?
- 17:16Speaker 3: You know? Yeah, so tell us a little bit about that.
- 17:19Speaker 4: So he posted I went back to it on May seventeenth,
- 17:23Speaker 4: and I was filming. I was filming then, so I
- 17:26Speaker 4: can't see this post when it came through. I was like,
- 17:30Speaker 4: they take your phones away. You know, you're you're invested
- 17:33Speaker 4: in the show. You know you're you're there to filmah
- 17:36Speaker 4: and to you know, do what they need you to do.
- 17:38Speaker 5: You're not on your phone, so.
- 17:41Speaker 4: You know, part of it was he started with I
- 17:43Speaker 4: really wish I could talk to you, ask you how
- 17:45Speaker 4: you're doing, how was your day.
- 17:47Speaker 5: I'd really like to hear your voice just for a minute.
- 17:50Speaker 4: So many times I've called without much to say, not
- 17:52Speaker 4: realizing how lucky I was or how much I'd missed
- 17:54Speaker 4: the opportunity if you were gone. I want you to
- 17:56Speaker 4: I want to know how you're doing. I want to
- 17:58Speaker 4: support and encourage and cheer you want, and I want
- 18:00Speaker 4: to be there for you. But I can't, and that's
- 18:02Speaker 4: okay because I know you need this time time to
- 18:04Speaker 4: discover yourself again. So I'll be here for you instead.
- 18:07Speaker 4: I'll be here for you when you get back. I'll
- 18:09Speaker 4: be here to listen to you, to smile with you,
- 18:10Speaker 4: maybe cry with you. I'll be here to love you.
- 18:13Speaker 4: I'll be here forever.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Even the dude's Instagram poster, it's just like when we're
- 18:16Speaker 1: on the show together. It's like Edgar Allan Poe wrote that, like,
- 18:19Speaker 1: I mean, what the hell is It's like poetry, you
- 18:22Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 18:23Speaker 3: This guy, I mean, he blows my mind all the time.
- 18:26Speaker 3: But yeah, that is a gorgeous test and I you know.
- 18:31Speaker 4: He's a great writer, but you know that gives so
- 18:44Speaker 4: much perspective, right, Like you know now that you know
- 18:48Speaker 4: why he was writing it, it makes total sense. And
- 18:52Speaker 4: he wasn't trying to be dramatic. He was literally just
- 18:55Speaker 4: like I've always said this, screaming it from the rooftops.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Like we have this.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Opportunity to like share with people while we're sharing it
- 19:05Speaker 4: with the world, you know, share with each other, while
- 19:07Speaker 4: we're sharing it with the world, what we're feeling with
- 19:10Speaker 4: social media, and that's all he was doing, and it
- 19:14Speaker 4: caused this humongous uproar. I just posted again and said.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Holy crap.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Like everyone thought I was either having a nervous breakdown
- 19:24Speaker 4: that we were getting a divorce or trial separation.
- 19:26Speaker 5: I was dead. What were the other things? I don't know,
- 19:30Speaker 5: but everyone was lost.
- 19:31Speaker 3: It was a lot. I remember going, oh my god.
- 19:33Speaker 1: And then I remember you and I talking when you
- 19:35Speaker 1: first got back, kind of touching on it, and we
- 19:37Speaker 1: even talked about it on the podcast, and I remember,
- 19:41Speaker 1: you know, I don't know what it was, but I
- 19:44Speaker 1: even felt like.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I needed to.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Say something, so I think I said something like, well,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I knew you were going to be you know, I'm
- 19:50Speaker 1: meant unavailable for a podcast for one week or something.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I forget what I said, and even then I was like, oh,
- 19:55Speaker 1: oh no, I just get her in trouble by saying
- 19:57Speaker 1: that I knew that she was going to be gone.
- 19:58Speaker 1: You know, I remember feeling like there was I knew
- 20:00Speaker 1: there was something going on, you know, just from what.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Else I couldn't do anything. Yeah, yeah, So and I
- 20:10Speaker 4: think I know we talked about it on a podcast,
- 20:12Speaker 4: so I don't know if you guys can pull it up,
- 20:14Speaker 4: but or like see what we said. But essentially I
- 20:17Speaker 4: remember saying, yeah, we're good, everything's good.
- 20:20Speaker 5: I just I just was out of pocket, you know.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you were really good. See I'm really bad at that.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'd be like I was out of pocket for a
- 20:29Speaker 1: special thing that was forcefully my decisions.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Of course, the worst.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I can't keep anything to myself and I you know,
- 20:42Speaker 1: let's just say, I feel like Chuck Norris.
- 20:45Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't even know what I would have said,
- 20:48Speaker 1: but I'm sure I'm sure the whole world would have
- 20:50Speaker 1: figured it out about thirty seconds.
- 20:51Speaker 3: If I would have done the damn thing. I'm so
- 20:54Speaker 3: proud of you. What a what a huge undertaking.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And I mean, and to a certain degree, I guess
- 21:01Speaker 1: what a what a daring and and very you know,
- 21:06Speaker 1: knowing how much you respect the military as do. I mean,
- 21:08Speaker 1: my father was a marine and I and I would
- 21:10Speaker 1: I would love.
- 21:11Speaker 3: To go through something like that.
- 21:12Speaker 1: But part of me is like almost afraid now because
- 21:15Speaker 1: of the fact that all the Bachelor Nation folks keep
- 21:16Speaker 1: winning it. I'd probably be the one that would show
- 21:18Speaker 1: up and yeah, just like when they asked me to
- 21:20Speaker 1: be the Bachelor, make I probably shouldn't because it shows
- 21:22Speaker 1: going to get canceled.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Well you know that, I know.
- 21:25Speaker 4: But yeah, pressure, the pressure, a lot of pressure. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 4: there was a lot there was, although there wasn't really pressure,
- 21:34Speaker 4: you know what. I feel like it's similar to when
- 21:36Speaker 4: people talk about the pressure of staying together if you're
- 21:40Speaker 4: from the Bachelor.
- 21:41Speaker 5: And you've been successful.
- 21:42Speaker 4: I'm like, really, no, there's no pressure, Like, yeah, these
- 21:45Speaker 4: people were on the show prior to me and Ali
- 21:49Speaker 4: doing it, but it was my it was my pass
- 21:53Speaker 4: my you know, it was me against me.
- 21:57Speaker 1: So so with you being partnered up, and sure we'll
- 22:00Speaker 1: we'll talk with her eventually as well about her experience,
- 22:03Speaker 1: but with them, with the two you partnering up, did
- 22:05Speaker 1: you find that you had more in common?
- 22:08Speaker 3: Cause, I mean we've we've kind of you know. I
- 22:12Speaker 3: remember when we did our shoot many.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Years ago together and it was like, you know, the
- 22:16Speaker 1: Bachelor and Bestrette Favorites or whatever it was Andrew Firestone,
- 22:19Speaker 1: myself and you and Ali and I can't remember Emily,
- 22:24Speaker 1: And it was awesome. Yeah and Andrew Firestone of course,
- 22:27Speaker 1: and and we had such a great day that day.
- 22:29Speaker 1: But I but I don't really see Ali ever, you know,
- 22:32Speaker 1: And so I was I was curious did you did
- 22:34Speaker 1: you guys have like this opportunity to reconnect and like,
- 22:37Speaker 1: is it?
- 22:38Speaker 2: You know it?
- 22:39Speaker 1: Was it one of those experiences where you found out
- 22:41Speaker 1: you have way more in common than just having on
- 22:42Speaker 1: a TV show together.
- 22:43Speaker 3: You have the same grit and the same paint life.
- 22:46Speaker 3: I mean, I'm just so curious right now.
- 22:48Speaker 4: I mean honestly, like, you think that you're gonna be
- 22:53Speaker 4: with these people like all the time, right you are,
- 22:58Speaker 4: But you're really like when you're in doing a like
- 23:03Speaker 4: a challenge or a task or you know, a drill,
- 23:06Speaker 4: whatever you want to call it, you're not really like bonding.
- 23:11Speaker 5: You're not like.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Chatting about like life, right you're talking about you're looking
- 23:18Speaker 4: up at this bridge and saying, holy shit, right, like
- 23:28Speaker 4: you're like what like and all you're talking about is
- 23:32Speaker 4: how to survive that you know, or what are the
- 23:35Speaker 4: tips from the people who have gone before you or whatever.
- 23:38Speaker 5: So you're not really.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Talking like in depth unless so you do ride. So
- 23:47Speaker 4: you ride from like task to task, like the first
- 23:49Speaker 4: day we were on that boat where I got pitched
- 23:53Speaker 4: off of the boat and everyone you know was on
- 23:57Speaker 4: the boat, and you do the task that you do
- 24:02Speaker 4: once you get off the boat, you swim and you,
- 24:04Speaker 4: you know whatever. Once you're done with that, you run
- 24:09Speaker 4: to the like jeeps or.
- 24:11Speaker 5: The transportation vehicles.
- 24:13Speaker 4: And four of you were in a car, okay, so
- 24:15Speaker 4: or a jeep or whatever, and it's just all random, really,
- 24:20Speaker 4: So who gets to the jeep first, second, third, whatever,
- 24:23Speaker 4: you get in one whatever, It's completely random.
- 24:26Speaker 5: And those were the moments where.
- 24:29Speaker 4: You would bond with people because there would be like
- 24:32Speaker 4: you'd be in the car for an hour two hours
- 24:36Speaker 4: with someone and you're in a little tiny, you know,
- 24:39Speaker 4: the back of a jeep and it is like you're
- 24:41Speaker 4: facing each other, you know.
- 24:44Speaker 5: But those were the moments that you really bonded. And
- 24:46Speaker 5: Ali and I were never in a car together, in
- 24:48Speaker 5: a jeep together, okay, so.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Yeah, the people that I ended up being in the
- 24:57Speaker 4: jeeps with, I there were there are some of my
- 25:01Speaker 4: favorite moments that I'll never forget. Like, I mean, I
- 25:05Speaker 4: was like talking to Golden Tate about like gold and
- 25:12Speaker 4: Jim Newton about pickleball, Like it was.
- 25:15Speaker 1: The fact that they are both on this show and
- 25:17Speaker 1: they are guys that I actually know personally as well.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I am so oh yeah, I know, Golden, Golden and
- 25:22Speaker 1: I played golf together a bunch.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Cam Newton and I have known each other for a
- 25:25Speaker 3: very long time. Yeah, it's crazy, you love it.
- 25:29Speaker 4: I can't wait to tell them. Well, well, for sure
- 25:31Speaker 4: have them on on the podcast to chat. But I
- 25:34Speaker 4: love that you that you know them.
- 25:36Speaker 5: They are.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I talked to Cam in a long time, but Golden
- 25:40Speaker 1: I just played with him two years ago, a year
- 25:43Speaker 1: and a half ago in a tournament.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I love.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Them, they are.
- 25:49Speaker 4: They were two of my surprises coming out of this. Yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 4: that two people that I truly just admire look up to,
- 26:01Speaker 4: I mean literally and figuratively.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no doubt. And they're both tall drinks of water.
- 26:07Speaker 3: I think, you know, it's like.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Jim for sure, but but no, I absolutely adore both
- 26:17Speaker 4: of them. So that was a fun surprise, is like
- 26:20Speaker 4: I really was looking forward to. You know, when you
- 26:23Speaker 4: do these shows, you get introduced to people that you
- 26:26Speaker 4: probably will never meet in other ways in your life,
- 26:28Speaker 4: right right, And I don't know that I ever would
- 26:32Speaker 4: have met half all of these people, you know.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Trista, this is this was supposed to be like
- 26:40Speaker 1: a fifteen minute conversation about the whole thing.
- 26:43Speaker 3: I need more, Okay, I need more from you.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I know you're you're trying to get some beauty sleep
- 26:47Speaker 1: before the big press day, but can we can we
- 26:50Speaker 1: keep going on this because I'd like to. I'd like
- 26:52Speaker 1: to have a whole other conversation about how you got
- 26:54Speaker 1: ready for this thing.
- 26:56Speaker 3: You know what you were doing to prepare? Do you
- 26:58Speaker 3: got time for me?
- 27:00Speaker 4: All right?
- 27:00Speaker 3: All right, we're gonna have for you.
- 27:04Speaker 5: I love it.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Well, We're gonna take up a little break and when
- 27:06Speaker 1: we return, we're gonna have a whole lot more With
- 27:08Speaker 1: Trista Sutter, Navy Sealed Training Cadet, Special Forces superstar athlete.
- 27:15Speaker 3: We'll be back with more almost famous the Ogs,
