- 0:00My name is Blood Pets and I'm playing a band called Bad Manners and we
- 0:06are coming to tour your lovely country and to eat all your pies. Beautiful
- 0:13mate, how are you doing today? I'm doing really good. Yet it's
- 0:18one of those days. Who's met yet? They seem to become more frequent
- 0:22as the years go by, too, don't They don't know? And this
- 0:27one is becoming very regular at the moment, and the trummed shining and I'm
- 0:31very happy. Well that's the main thing. Row as you say, man
- 0:35like, Bad Manners will hit Australia for your Greatest Hits tour starting October sick
- 0:39in Sydney, before going through Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne and finishing in Perth
- 0:43on October forty eighth. Mate, Like, I know it's a little way
- 0:45off yet, but if you started practice in preparation yet, thank you soon.
- 0:50Yeah you can't talk to me about practicing. Don't swear at me.
- 0:55Man, I was born in bad Manner, yes, uh, yeah,
- 1:00of course I'm ready. I'm ready for the tour now. So aside from
- 1:08your standard like jocks and socks and clothing, like, what is one thing
- 1:12that you're always pack when you're going away on your maid. Humor? What's
- 1:17that? Of course you don't know what that is. I'll explain it.
- 1:25It makes you laugh. Humor, Oh humor. I thought you said,
- 1:29schuma hum Yes he may, yes so ill. Of course you have to
- 1:44have your t shirts that you wear, and you have to add your shoots
- 1:48that you wear, and whatever shoes you're wearing, money and passports, all
- 1:56the essentially need nothing else. It's actually interesting. Do you raise humor?
- 2:00Mate? Like? Do you guys have been around for a while and over
- 2:02the years, like I suppose people's perception of humor and what you can and
- 2:07can't say is change the hell of a light? Like do you find yourself
- 2:10sort of second guess in yourself sometimes? Or do you still just let it,
- 2:14let it blurt out and people take it well or they don't. Well,
- 2:17I'd let it blurt out usually. Yeah, I don't really care if
- 2:22I offended anybody, but I'm not living an offensive person. It can be
- 2:28if it's pointed in my direction. And I'm guessing the Greatest Hits set list
- 2:35is largely made up of fan favorites, but if you've got to personally pick
- 2:38a Greatest Hits set list made, How different would it be your personal greatest
- 2:42hits to what the fans like? What s Yeah, like I said,
- 2:46you've got to play at the set list at the fans one here, I
- 2:49guess in the greatest hits, but the fans greatest hits necessarily yours. Well,
- 2:54not quite but yes, I mean not far from it. I mean
- 2:58that all the real you live are usually my favorite, and it's become I'm
- 3:07the holder of band, but I'm a lad to choose, so I mean
- 3:15songs that made people dance, boys work with me, So that's my yep,
- 3:22that's fair. Also, and it's been a couple of years since you've
- 3:24been a mate. So what can fans expect from the show? Well,
- 3:29the only thing that kept me away was COVID well and and ask bloody promoters,
- 3:38But what can people expect? You're going to expect bad manners, being
- 3:45the same old, bloody crazy party that they always have been. We will
- 3:51certainly have a guest that are from your country, and maybe some guests from
- 4:00New Zealand. Uh that that's that's generally how it goes over there. We're
- 4:05sorry, but most places we nowadays we usually have an Australian or New Zealand
- 4:15members of the band because it made sense going across boulders and of course we
- 4:21haven't got a travel all the way from here, so they'll be about four
- 4:28English manners, and we made up of what the combination of Australian and New
- 4:35Zealand and and Zax, Yeah and Zach. It's a big an Zax.
- 4:46Very care. So you guys celebrate your fiftieth anniversary in just three years time,
- 4:50mate, So they all are appropriate to sort of go back in history
- 4:54of it, mate. So if we can go back to the beginning of
- 4:56Bad Manners, like if Ford while you're still in high school back in ninety
- 4:59seve any six mates, So what was the musical climate like back then they
- 5:02gave birth to the band and where did you fit in initially? Well,
- 5:06now we always wondered, but seven six time we started. And if you
- 5:13think of seventy six the start of punk really, so it was the time
- 5:18when the punk bands were having their first hit. We took another three years
- 5:26before we got a first hit. But you know, it doesn't really matter
- 5:30in the strange things that go on in the world, but we certainly enjoyed
- 5:35ourse in that end days we're playing with a punchers but with a scar field.
- 5:45So it was always very good for us early days. So what was
- 5:50your early vision for the band back then made and then how has it changed
- 5:53over the years? The vision what's never continue as long as we did and
- 6:04we our main ga game at the time was just to gather supporters and get
- 6:13and get the going is what we thought we had to do. And that
- 6:17was our attitude for the good ten years of just starting the party wherever it
- 6:24was and we played clousers. Most observers say that the band peaked in the
- 6:31late nineteen seventies and early eighties. Was you a great Do you think that
- 6:34was the strongest period of band manners? No, I wouldn't three, because
- 6:41throughout there's always been a great live feel to us. Sometimes when we was
- 6:46at our height, as you say, I believed that we had better love
- 6:54bands. Later we learned to play so tatrically and it got better, and
- 7:06you know, no, it did, and it got better than we mastered.
- 7:11The art of playing live one of the one of the biggest draw cards
- 7:15to a bad managed sohow wasn't always has been your good self made there and
- 7:19you're on stage and it so how much of that is rehearsed or thought out
- 7:23and how much is actually just had lived and made up on the spot.
- 7:27I think a lot is made up on the spot. I do a basic
- 7:31thing every gig, but you know, slightly changed here and there. But
- 7:39I'm slowing down. I'm getting holder. I know it's not what I no,
- 7:45it's not what you're supposed to say, but it's true cleaning my age
- 7:48these days on stage and that's still performed and enjoy it. And the cloud.
- 7:58I'm sorry. People around me seemed to say that it's not changed at
- 8:03all, don't but I know it has. I know it blowed down a
- 8:07little. Not the bass elves, they hadn't continued to do it. But
- 8:13I just feel that I'm not moving as much as I used to. Well,
- 8:18she's understandable, broth. You bet you've done your fair shar of moving
- 8:20about over the years. I had indeed done my fair said so nobody really
- 8:26can complain to me. But but I just sort of feel like I'm letting
- 8:31the side down. But I know I'm not. But it is a bit
- 8:35of a a strangeful it would be. But I love, I love what
- 8:41I'm still doing and I wouldn't want to take it away from myself. It
- 8:46just it's just it's just a bit more hard work. And it's ever since
- 8:52COVID and I thought you know that sort of but clear up a bit m
- 9:01so looking back then, mate, Like, what would you say as some
- 9:03of your personal highlights of your career so far? Well, the fact that
- 9:09we tour all over the world and still do that is a real highlight for
- 9:13me. I mean, I do still love playing live and which is quite
- 9:20incredible. Really. There's not many places that we hadn't been, certainly not
- 9:26majors places. And of course two times have we enjoyed looking about in various
- 9:39countries when we're off stage in outside to Rome and the Colosseum's closed. Typical
- 9:50bad manners. Well we believe we can't curse against us on vehicles, any
- 10:00vehicle we ever used seems to mock up. Yeah, it's around the bad
- 10:09manners girls, yea. And in your time in music, mate, like
- 10:16the music scenes changed a lot, to say the least, Like have you
- 10:20ever sort of tried to change with it at all? Or have you sort
- 10:22of more done your own thing the whole way through we have always done our
- 10:26whole thing. Maybe it's a bit selfish, but yeah, we couldn't be
- 10:31bothered to follow fashion or or do with how the bands do. I'm certainly
- 10:39that nobody's going to tell us what to do, so we've done it ourselves.
- 10:45Yeah, thanks all. And looking through a discography, mate, like
- 10:48your last album stupidly came out in two thousand and one, Like you're still
- 10:52giving thoughts that maybe listen anything new in the future or have you done with
- 10:54albums now? You're destroying We have done with albums now. I'm feeling like
- 11:03next year is going to be a new album. Nice, we really deserved,
- 11:09well, the people really deserve a new album. It must be getting
- 11:13a bit bored of the old song. So we've got to do a new
- 11:20album. But I mean, you know, on the inverge of writing stuff.
- 11:26So I've said, so next year we're all sits going to take some
- 11:31time out and write an album. It's because we never had time now.
- 11:37Yeah, it makes it difficult to just keep playing. I should just keep
- 11:45playing. You should never had time to write songs, and songs are really
- 11:50what keep us going. M Now. I don't ask this question to many
- 11:56people maybe you're one of the few people out there who's actually in a position
- 11:58to having aion. So what would you say your top three commandments of punk
- 12:03would be top three coundents of commandments of punk punking scar scar Yeah, yeah,
- 12:13the what my three commandments? What you must do? Yeah, well
- 12:20you need to add a dance of dance is the most important part of scar
- 12:26A great. Learn an instrument and it's fantastic. Then I can bully you,
- 12:33Yeah, I do with all the other bad manners. That's two third
- 12:43one eat healthy Yeah, very cool, very cool. Now, so before
- 12:50we let you go, mate, have you started up doing three different Spotify
- 12:54playlists made up of songs from people that we interview, So you in your
- 13:00own songs? Can you give me one song that to get the party started,
- 13:05a right, one song to one song to save your marriage, and
- 13:09one song that could be so so start again? Okay, So one song

- 13:20your marriage, and one song that could potentially end your marriage. Okay,
