Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Today's variety Big ninety eight point seven.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Oh gosh, it has been a ride. And honestly, after
- 0:10Speaker 2: hearing that song, the person that came to my mind
- 0:13Speaker 2: was tomorrow bringing my kids to school for the first time,
- 0:17Speaker 2: and my daughter jammined me with that that's kind of
- 0:20Speaker 2: our jam right now. And I have been trying to
- 0:24Speaker 2: find the right words for this moment, and if I'm
- 0:26Speaker 2: being honest, I really truly don't know if they exist.
- 0:31Speaker 2: But here it goes. This is my final time on air,
- 0:34Speaker 2: and it is not easy. This microphone has been a home,
- 0:39Speaker 2: this station has been a family. You and every single
- 0:44Speaker 2: person who's ever tuned in you've been my reason. You've
- 0:48Speaker 2: let me into your lives. You've trusted me with your time,
- 0:52Speaker 2: your story, and your hearts, and that has meant more
- 0:57Speaker 2: than I can ever express. There have been days when
- 1:00Speaker 2: I showed up with a smile, and there have been
- 1:02Speaker 2: days that I showed up. You need this music just
- 1:04Speaker 2: as much as you did, and somehow through it all
- 1:07Speaker 2: we connected. That's the magic of this space. That's the
- 1:13Speaker 2: part that I'm gonna miss most. So thank you for
- 1:17Speaker 2: letting me be a small part of your life. This
- 1:20Speaker 2: isn't just a sign off. It's a heartfelt goodbye. I'm
- 1:24Speaker 2: stepping away into a new chapter with so much gratitude
- 1:27Speaker 2: for this one. Take care of yourselves, take care of
- 1:31Speaker 2: each other, and never stop listening to the music, to
- 1:34Speaker 2: the people you love, and to your own heart.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Today's variety Big ninety eight point seven.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Today is my last day on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And if you're just tuning in, exciting things are happening. Gabe.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Of course you've had a chance to get to know
- 1:52Speaker 2: Angie is going to be starting, and I am just
- 1:55Speaker 2: so excited. It has been a wild morning because I've
- 2:01Speaker 2: been surprised by a lot of amazing people and miss
- 2:04Speaker 2: Corey Jensen is here, and U gosh, I don't even
- 2:09Speaker 2: know what to say.
- 2:09Speaker 4: You can't already start crying? How am I ever supposed
- 2:12Speaker 4: to hold this together?
- 2:13Speaker 3: Thirty seconds in?
- 2:14Speaker 5: Man?
- 2:15Speaker 2: I just love her and it has always been fun
- 2:18Speaker 2: for me for people to go and we hear it
- 2:21Speaker 2: all the time, But you guys are like really friends.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Uh true? Yeah, we're more than just really friends. And
- 2:29Speaker 2: it has been the greatest honor to be able to
- 2:32Speaker 2: work with you for this long.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Oh well, I had to write something down to share
- 2:36Speaker 4: with you otherwise, I'm not going to keep it together.
- 2:40Speaker 4: And if you're going to keep if you're together, if
- 2:42Speaker 4: you're a bet taking person, go ahead.
- 2:44Speaker 6: I'm not going to keep it together.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:46Speaker 4: So what's interesting is that you and I were part
- 2:51Speaker 4: of the original roster when Big ninety eight point seven
- 2:55Speaker 4: was born in twenty thirteen, and even by that time
- 2:58Speaker 4: we were already close friends and colleagues working for the
- 3:01Speaker 4: same company for a number of years. But in our
- 3:03Speaker 4: Big ninety eight tenure, we finally got to work with
- 3:07Speaker 4: each other to help build this amazing and fun radio station.
- 3:11Speaker 4: We worked very closely to help people with big Christmas
- 3:15Speaker 4: wish and to do that with you meant so much,
- 3:18Speaker 4: and we even got to know the joy of being
- 3:20Speaker 4: office mates.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Thank you, Cod for breaking us up.
- 3:25Speaker 3: You shared an office so yeah, which is wild.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Danger zone, really danger zone. And we truly solidified our
- 3:32Speaker 4: friendship into something deeper and more in that time though
- 3:36Speaker 4: a sisterhood, a relationship forged on work camaraderie, but solidified
- 3:42Speaker 4: by a foundation built by faith in real life.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Side by side through life's truest.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Ups and downs. Oh boy, a lot of them seeing.
- 3:52Speaker 6: You through your stroke scare, Oh my gosh, I forgot
- 3:56Speaker 6: about that.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Your first marriage.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Probably Yeah, we'll add that, your mom's cancer diagnosis. Knowing
- 4:07Speaker 4: your mom so well, getting to be able to tell
- 4:09Speaker 4: your kids about your mom and sharing personal jokes with
- 4:13Speaker 4: your mom, and that's one of my greatest honors to
- 4:16Speaker 4: be able to pass that on.
- 4:18Speaker 2: We still talk.
- 4:19Speaker 4: About it, especially if you're having a bad hairedache.
- 4:22Speaker 2: God, your mom would have hated that. Literally told Cory
- 4:26Speaker 2: one day at a remote oh my gosh, her hair
- 4:29Speaker 2: is so flat.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Turned to me like a mean girl. It was good stuff,
- 4:35Speaker 4: big Mama. One of a kind, One of a kind.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Also the highest of highs, like getting to see you
- 4:41Speaker 4: quite literally meet the love of your life, marry the
- 4:44Speaker 4: love of your life, being there in step through all
- 4:47Speaker 4: of it, and then having us both besties, be pregnant together.
- 4:51Speaker 4: And of course you were by my side when I
- 4:54Speaker 4: lost my baby. But God has had us through it
- 4:58Speaker 4: all and has always proved and to be good even
- 5:01Speaker 4: through the bad. But blessed again to be by your
- 5:04Speaker 4: side to witness the birth of both of your precious children.
- 5:08Speaker 4: And I mean literally by your side in the delivery room,
- 5:10Speaker 4: because by the way, before you go, you're venmowing me
- 5:12Speaker 4: for the new pair of shoes you still owe me
- 5:14Speaker 4: from Briggs's delivery, and you know why.
- 5:18Speaker 2: That does not come out of a shoe. That's not
- 5:22Speaker 2: good true story.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Throughout most of our careers in Fargo, we've been technically
- 5:29Speaker 4: direct competitors. In a career field where you are judged
- 5:34Speaker 4: on popularity, it can breed harsh comparison comparisonship, especially in females,
- 5:41Speaker 4: but remarkably we have always maintained it as a supportive context,
- 5:45Speaker 4: and we've made it into our superpower of sorts, as
- 5:49Speaker 4: a way to push each other to improve and achieve
- 5:51Speaker 4: goals and to be a cheerleader for the other. In fact,
- 5:54Speaker 4: if there were ever an antidote that we could offer
- 5:57Speaker 4: our listeners and followers from Corey and Amanda, it's that
- 6:00Speaker 4: friendship and competition does not have to be a zero
- 6:03Speaker 4: sum game. You can do both and thrive, and you
- 6:07Speaker 4: can leave your mark without taking anything away from anybody else.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Amanda Lie, you are my dearest bestie, and you have
- 6:14Speaker 4: left an undeniable mark on Fargo Radio. But beyond that,
- 6:17Speaker 4: you've stayed genuine and beautifully true to yourself, and that
- 6:21Speaker 4: kind of impression lasts longer than a career, but cheers
- 6:24Speaker 4: to yours because it was an excellent one.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I love you. I love you so much.
- 6:31Speaker 6: There is not a dry eye, there is true.
- 6:35Speaker 7: Now you've got tears going, don't lie, Gabe.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Today's variety Big ninety eight point seven.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Well it's a wrap. Today is going to be my
- 6:46Speaker 2: last day on Big ninety eight point seven. And a
- 6:49Speaker 2: little surprised today Megan popping over before her shift. Of
- 6:54Speaker 2: course every midday here on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 6:56Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 6:57Speaker 7: Girl?
- 6:57Speaker 2: I can't believe it? No, no, how is this that's
- 7:00Speaker 2: the last day?
- 7:00Speaker 6: How is this possible?
- 7:02Speaker 2: I know? And it's one of those. Of course, we've
- 7:04Speaker 2: been friends for so long. You know everything about me,
- 7:07Speaker 2: I know everything about you.
- 7:09Speaker 8: And how many times have we been mistaken for each
- 7:12Speaker 8: other through the years too?
- 7:14Speaker 2: It is hilarious, So Megan Z. I remember when we
- 7:19Speaker 2: first had a chance to work together, and we had
- 7:22Speaker 2: heard so much about each other. I think on so
- 7:25Speaker 2: many different levels. But both of us being small town
- 7:28Speaker 2: Minnesota girls, both of us happened to be in pageants,
- 7:32Speaker 2: we both have brown hair. I have had so many instances,
- 7:36Speaker 2: one in particular, I will never forget this guy coming
- 7:39Speaker 2: up to me and we were at a birthday party
- 7:42Speaker 2: for somebody and he is staring at me and kind
- 7:45Speaker 2: of making me uncomfortable, and Nick goes like, dude, do
- 7:48Speaker 2: you know this guy? I'm like, I don't like, I
- 7:50Speaker 2: don't know it. And he comes up to me he's like,
- 7:53Speaker 2: remember me, No, No, I don't know. I don't And
- 7:58Speaker 2: then in my mind, trust me. I've had plenty of
- 8:01Speaker 2: Amanda moments. We don't need to go there, right And
- 8:07Speaker 2: I'm sitting here and he's like, no, remember what was
- 8:10Speaker 2: it before? Uh? Was it Big D's, Big D's. Oh yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 2: they had like ten for ones. Oh and I remember
- 8:19Speaker 2: you used to broadcaster all the time. And he's like, no,
- 8:21Speaker 2: remember you were broadcasting and telling me all the stuff.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I go, this is not me.
- 8:26Speaker 6: I had you taken me again.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I had to pull up my phone put up a
- 8:31Speaker 2: picture of you, Megan, and he's like, oh my god.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And he was mortified. He was absolutely mortified because no,
- 8:38Speaker 2: I am not the girl.
- 8:39Speaker 8: It's funny he never told me that story.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 8:44Speaker 1: The fact that both of you were pageants explains everything
- 8:48Speaker 1: I've ever needed to know.
- 8:49Speaker 3: And you were you in pageants?
- 8:51Speaker 2: No.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I love.
- 8:55Speaker 2: The Sassin personality. Girl, you got that. I'm in your dorm.
- 9:00Speaker 6: H we're in the sass, but I bloomed.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. But I am so glad you popped
- 9:04Speaker 2: over today and just have time I could just reminisce
- 9:09Speaker 2: on life.
- 9:10Speaker 8: I could not not come in here and reminisce because
- 9:13Speaker 8: this doesn't end here.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Of course, our friendship will always continue on no matter what,
- 9:17Speaker 2: like that's a given.
- 9:18Speaker 8: But we've had many, many good times, and I think
- 9:21Speaker 8: the part that will be hard for me is just
- 9:23Speaker 8: not seeing you around and be able to pop into
- 9:25Speaker 8: your office and just you know, shoot the breeze and
- 9:28Speaker 8: just kind.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Of talk about things.
- 9:29Speaker 8: And yeah, that'll be the that'll be the hardest part.
- 9:33Speaker 2: But we can go on dog walks if we can
- 9:35Speaker 2: hang out still. And I think it's important that you
- 9:38Speaker 2: brought that up because yes, it's my time off air,
- 9:41Speaker 2: but my connections with all of you in this room
- 9:44Speaker 2: and listening will last a lifetime. I mean, this community
- 9:47Speaker 2: is so small, and I think you can attest to this.
- 9:50Speaker 2: They are going to wrap their arms around Angie as
- 9:52Speaker 2: she is coming in making the move with her family
- 9:55Speaker 2: to Fargo. It truly is and gave you can attest
- 9:58Speaker 2: to it because you were just recently.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Know.
- 10:01Speaker 2: It's an amazing, amazing community.
- 10:04Speaker 3: One percent.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I've never got invited on a dog walk, but.
- 10:08Speaker 2: We'll work on that.
- 10:10Speaker 6: Needing a dog party.
- 10:12Speaker 3: It's been awesome.
- 10:13Speaker 1: My intro here was nothing short of incredible, and I'm
- 10:17Speaker 1: pretty excited for you to experience that as well.
- 10:19Speaker 3: It's been awesome.
- 10:20Speaker 7: If the vibe in the building is any indicator of
- 10:23Speaker 7: what the rest of the community is like, then I
- 10:25Speaker 7: know I'm in good hand.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Girl. We're gonna have some fun. Let me tell you
- 10:28Speaker 2: right now.
- 10:28Speaker 6: Oh I'm excited.
- 10:30Speaker 2: So, Amanda.
- 10:31Speaker 8: It has been an honor and a pleasure to get
- 10:33Speaker 8: to know you over these twelve years and work together.
- 10:36Speaker 8: And I know I've bounced in and out as well,
- 10:38Speaker 8: so I know the feelings you are going through and
- 10:40Speaker 8: what this is like, and I'm just it is just honestly,
- 10:43Speaker 8: it has been so much fun these years, and I
- 10:46Speaker 8: look forward to more memories. But I just wish you
- 10:48Speaker 8: nothing but the best, and we will definitely miss you.
- 10:50Speaker 8: I love you, Love me more.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Today's Variety Big ninety eight point seven.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Well, today is my last day here on Big ninety
- 10:59Speaker 2: eight point seven. It is all the emotions closing a chapter.
- 11:03Speaker 2: That is really all I've known for the past fifteen
- 11:06Speaker 2: years here in the Fargo Moorhead area. But I am
- 11:09Speaker 2: beyond excited for what is to come, and that is
- 11:13Speaker 2: Gabe and Angie, and I am loving all of the
- 11:17Speaker 2: surprise calls. Jimbo Jambo as I called him. You guys
- 11:21Speaker 2: know him James who does afternoons and has for quite
- 11:24Speaker 2: some time here on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Good morning, Good morning, Amanda.
- 11:29Speaker 2: How are you.
- 11:30Speaker 5: It's funny to think that we've only actually known each
- 11:33Speaker 5: other for like two years, but we've known of each
- 11:36Speaker 5: other for like a decade and a half. Isn't that crazy? Yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 5: I've been I was thinking about that yesterday and today,
- 11:43Speaker 5: and I'm just going I've known your name for quite
- 11:46Speaker 5: some time. We won't get into the history of all
- 11:48Speaker 5: of it, but then we got an opportunity to work together,
- 11:51Speaker 5: and I definitely got to say that you're an inspiration
- 11:54Speaker 5: to a lot of people, including me, and working with
- 11:58Speaker 5: you has been an absolute prep pleasure. So thank you
- 12:00Speaker 5: for Thank you for being awesome and and helping me
- 12:04Speaker 5: grow too.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Thank you for everything. I mean, We've had some really
- 12:09Speaker 2: good times and it has been a wild ride. And
- 12:14Speaker 2: it is funny because this community is so big yet
- 12:18Speaker 2: so small, and I do appreciate that you brought up
- 12:21Speaker 2: what you've known each other for so long or known
- 12:23Speaker 2: of each other for so long, and it's so important
- 12:25Speaker 2: for people to know that once you are a part
- 12:28Speaker 2: of this community, you're just kind of always you know,
- 12:31Speaker 2: the connections.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Just don't go away.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, it's really amazing in the community that we're
- 12:36Speaker 5: in and how they embrace us too, and then we
- 12:38Speaker 5: get to we get to do that here at work
- 12:40Speaker 5: and reflect that back to the community. So it's been
- 12:44Speaker 5: been really amazing. I think the first thing I think
- 12:46Speaker 5: of when I think of events is not the amount
- 12:49Speaker 5: of you know, quote unquote hanging out happy hours and
- 12:52Speaker 5: such that we did, but I think about when we
- 12:56Speaker 5: got the community together to do the blue light bulb donation.
- 13:00Speaker 5: That was really powerful and that was definitely on you
- 13:03Speaker 5: guys pushing that forward to help bring the community together
- 13:06Speaker 5: when we have such a tough time. And that's just
- 13:08Speaker 5: one of a million memories that that I'll never forget.
- 13:12Speaker 5: So and that's that just goes to show how much
- 13:14Speaker 5: you care about the people here, and it's a really
- 13:16Speaker 5: beautiful thing that you're you're going on to your next
- 13:19Speaker 5: chapter and you're too, you know, going because of your family.
- 13:22Speaker 5: It's yeah, it's awesome.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Thank you so much, James, And I know you are
- 13:27Speaker 2: just excited as I am for this next chapter of
- 13:31Speaker 2: Big ninety eight point seven. Of course you're still going
- 13:33Speaker 2: to be here, and you've had a lot of time
- 13:35Speaker 2: to get to know Gab and Angie and it's fun.
- 13:39Speaker 2: This energy that they're bringing, I'm just I truly am.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I'm bummed for him.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Yeah, looking forward to Gab and Angie is kind of
- 13:46Speaker 5: being unleashed onto Fargo because we are going to have
- 13:49Speaker 5: a lot of fun and what these guys are capable
- 13:52Speaker 5: of and what they're going to do. I think I
- 13:55Speaker 5: think that Fargo is not ready Well.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Well, well, don't aim too high, all right, I do
- 14:03Speaker 1: like I don't know if we have a name, but
- 14:05Speaker 1: Gab and Anlee Angie unleashed.
- 14:08Speaker 6: You're just gonna say the verbiage you used there. I
- 14:11Speaker 6: was like, okay, then unleashed, Okay, I can do that.
- 14:15Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 5: I think that sounds like it sounds like how we're
- 14:17Speaker 5: going to open it tomorrow.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Fargo.
- 14:24Speaker 2: James, you're the best. Thank you so much.
- 14:27Speaker 5: You're the best. It's been an absolute pleasure, Amanda, and
- 14:29Speaker 5: I speak for everybody at Fargo, and I'm sure everybody
- 14:31Speaker 5: else has said it already, but we are going to
- 14:33Speaker 5: miss you immensely.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Today's Roariety Big ninety eight point seven. This is Amanda's
- 14:40Speaker 1: last day today, and we have a little bit of
- 14:43Speaker 1: a surprise for you here.
- 14:45Speaker 3: So when you know, and Love is on the phone
- 14:49Speaker 3: for you. Pike. How you doing man?
- 14:53Speaker 9: WELLO? I'm doing well? How are you guys?
- 14:55Speaker 3: Oh?
- 14:56Speaker 2: You know what, Pike, I'm doing fantastic. You're my second
- 14:59Speaker 2: husban Bend and I love that you called this morning.
- 15:03Speaker 9: You used to say no, no, I was like your
- 15:06Speaker 9: little brother. I guess when did I get moved up
- 15:10Speaker 9: to husband.
- 15:12Speaker 3: I feel like I've heard this mess up before.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I think I meant to say my emotions are going wild.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I was speaking for my heart today. I meant to
- 15:21Speaker 2: say my work husband. That got weird real fast.
- 15:24Speaker 9: I like my secret lover.
- 15:27Speaker 5: So good to talk to you.
- 15:28Speaker 9: Oh gush, Oh an emotional day. I understand why you're
- 15:33Speaker 9: a little out of it.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Can you believe that I'm taking this leap?
- 15:40Speaker 9: Yeah, it's shocking for me and for for everybody listening,
- 15:43Speaker 9: I'm sure, but obviously we've had some discussions and it's uh,
- 15:47Speaker 9: it's it's admirable to see what you're doing, Amanda. I
- 15:50Speaker 9: know it's an incredibly hard decision, but as your second husband,
- 15:55Speaker 9: I can appreciate making a hard decision like that because
- 16:00Speaker 9: a lot of times, you know, in life, I've really
- 16:02Speaker 9: over these last six months become just a just a
- 16:05Speaker 9: wise little old man, and you'll always have been. It's
- 16:09Speaker 9: always happened, and it's these hard decisions that really a
- 16:14Speaker 9: lot of times lead to the best outcomes. So I
- 16:18Speaker 9: think that'll be the case for you. Very excited for
- 16:20Speaker 9: your kids to be able to see in the mornings
- 16:23Speaker 9: and et cetera. And you just do whatever you're going
- 16:26Speaker 9: to do. It'll be great.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Thank you so much. It means the world to me
- 16:30Speaker 2: because if anybody knows me, it's you and the journey
- 16:35Speaker 2: that we've been through through these fifteen years. Pike was
- 16:39Speaker 2: here before I even was. He was one of the
- 16:41Speaker 2: first people I met in radio in this market, and it's, uh,
- 16:45Speaker 2: it's been fun. And what I love the most is
- 16:47Speaker 2: we're still forever friends and always will be.
- 16:51Speaker 9: Yeah, I agree, We've always been close close enough in age,
- 16:55Speaker 9: close enough that you were too cool to attend my
- 16:59Speaker 9: twenty four birthday party, and also so cool that you
- 17:03Speaker 9: convinced everybody I'd invited to my party to actually go
- 17:06Speaker 9: to your house instead.
- 17:08Speaker 2: What it's it was a house party. It was he
- 17:11Speaker 2: wanted to go out, and it was like, no, we're
- 17:14Speaker 2: at my house tonight.
- 17:16Speaker 9: You are annoying. How annoying? I wanted to go to
- 17:19Speaker 9: a bar on my twenty first birthday?
- 17:21Speaker 3: Yeah, oh my god.
- 17:22Speaker 2: He did end up at my house afterwards, and I
- 17:25Speaker 2: remember him being tuned up, and I remember feeding in blueberries.
- 17:29Speaker 2: That's all I remember about his twenty first d I.
- 17:31Speaker 7: Swear becoming your second husband began.
- 17:36Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, well Blueberry.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Deer Bike and I have been together this all time,
- 17:41Speaker 2: you guys.
- 17:45Speaker 9: Uh, well, yeah, it's been a long run. We've been
- 17:48Speaker 9: through a lot, of course, you know it's from the beginning.
- 17:51Speaker 9: We met so much in common. Obviously, both radio people
- 17:55Speaker 9: were from small towns in Minnesota. I wrote this other
- 17:59Speaker 9: one down here on this is a joke. I prepared
- 18:02Speaker 9: one thing.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I miss you.
- 18:06Speaker 6: It's better that you had to tell us you prepared
- 18:09Speaker 6: the joke.
- 18:10Speaker 2: This morning spot On.
- 18:12Speaker 9: I sat down this morning opened the notes up in
- 18:14Speaker 9: my iPhone and thought I'm going to really prepare something
- 18:16Speaker 9: here and obviously got distracted because this is all I got. Okay, So, yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 9: we both grew up in a small town in Minnesota.
- 18:22Speaker 9: We're both silly, we both can grow pretty good mustaches,
- 18:26Speaker 9: and now we're both retired from radio.
- 18:30Speaker 6: That is excellent.
- 18:32Speaker 2: What's wrong with you? Oh my gosh, it's good.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Pike spends in all eighteen seconds on what he wanted
- 18:41Speaker 3: to say.
- 18:43Speaker 9: If anybody listened to the last eight months of the
- 18:45Speaker 9: radio show with us too, that's about what I was
- 18:47Speaker 9: doing for that.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, you are missed. But everybody, just like
- 18:57Speaker 2: when you had left the second time. I'm just kidding.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I think that everybody is understanding and they know, and
- 19:05Speaker 2: I think you can attest to how amazing our community
- 19:09Speaker 2: is and how they're going to wrap their arms around
- 19:11Speaker 2: this morning show and this next era of Big ninety
- 19:14Speaker 2: eight point seven coming up. Actually, we are going to
- 19:19Speaker 2: talk to you about Angie, who is going to be
- 19:22Speaker 2: replacing me and her connection with Pike.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Things are getting wild, you.
- 19:26Speaker 6: Guys, he's my third husband.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Today's Rriiety, Big ninety eight point seven.
- 19:36Speaker 2: It's the end of an era here on Big ninety
- 19:38Speaker 2: eight point seven. As you know, today is my last day,
- 19:42Speaker 2: but it is also the beginning of something so exciting,
- 19:46Speaker 2: Gabe and Angie. Angie is going to be new to
- 19:49Speaker 2: Big ninety eight point seven, new to our community, but
- 19:52Speaker 2: she is not so new to a few of us,
- 19:54Speaker 2: which is so funny. I didn't even really know this Pike,
- 19:57Speaker 2: of course, joining the program this morning here little bit
- 20:00Speaker 2: and Pike and Angie, you guys kind of go.
- 20:02Speaker 9: Way back, we do. It's crazy to me that Angie
- 20:07Speaker 9: is sitting there in the studio at twenty seven to
- 20:10Speaker 9: twenty seventh Avenue South and Fargo. You know, it's because
- 20:13Speaker 9: we've known each other since the year twenty nineteen. Angie,
- 20:16Speaker 9: you'll remember you your friend John and me got together
- 20:21Speaker 9: in Vegas and that's where we had met, and since
- 20:25Speaker 9: then we've just been in contact. You know, radio is
- 20:27Speaker 9: a really small circle throughout the country, and so you've
- 20:33Speaker 9: been a close friend of mine in that industry, and
- 20:35Speaker 9: so the fact that you're now in Fargo is honestly
- 20:37Speaker 9: very exciting for me. And I'm so excited for you because,
- 20:40Speaker 9: as I told you, Angie for the record called me
- 20:43Speaker 9: beforehand and said, hey, like, you know, how how is
- 20:46Speaker 9: it that people are able to survive in Fargo, North
- 20:49Speaker 9: Dakota and Mauritia, So.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Like, it's fair.
- 20:54Speaker 6: I'm a desert baby.
- 20:55Speaker 7: I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, so
- 20:59Speaker 7: I had some concerns, but thankfully Pike assuaged all my fears.
- 21:03Speaker 7: I did want to mention that my favorite part about
- 21:06Speaker 7: how we met Pike is that we were meeting at
- 21:09Speaker 7: a restaurant in Vegas but our buddy John hadn't arrived
- 21:12Speaker 7: yet and you were sitting at the table. I looked
- 21:16Speaker 7: over and just kind of assumed it was you, and
- 21:18Speaker 7: I walked over to you and I like put my
- 21:21Speaker 7: hand on your back or something, and I was like, Hi, like.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Just super uncomfortable, so aggressive, And then I thought, what
- 21:27Speaker 2: if it wasn't even him?
- 21:29Speaker 7: But you took it very well, and that's how I
- 21:31Speaker 7: knew like we would vibe.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Pike is one of the most awkward humans and
- 21:35Speaker 2: that's why we love him so much.
- 21:37Speaker 9: Oh, thank you. No, yes, it was it was like
- 21:39Speaker 9: a blind date, like wait, is that you? And then
- 21:41Speaker 9: you're kind of relieved because I don't know you're a
- 21:45Speaker 9: normal person. Yeah, but yeah, it was it was fun,
- 21:48Speaker 9: and I will say you, guys, Angie is one of
- 21:51Speaker 9: the funniest people I've ever met.
- 21:53Speaker 5: A man.
- 21:53Speaker 9: I would say the same about you, of course, which
- 21:55Speaker 9: is why this is such an exciting transition. Angie is
- 21:59Speaker 9: just so silly in all the best ways, and I
- 22:02Speaker 9: think such a great personality. So Fargo is very lucky
- 22:06Speaker 9: to have her filling these enormous shoes. But I think
- 22:12Speaker 9: it's going to be so great, and I'm excited to
- 22:14Speaker 9: be able to see. Now I'm just trying to collect
- 22:16Speaker 9: all of my friends into the Fargo region so we
- 22:19Speaker 9: can all hang out.
- 22:19Speaker 7: You nailed it, Pikels tell you later that is actually
- 22:22Speaker 7: the truth here.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I will tell you going back to probably people listening going,
- 22:26Speaker 2: oh my gosh, she's a desert baby. How she going
- 22:28Speaker 2: to survive Fargo. When she first interviewed here, it was
- 22:32Speaker 2: sixty below zero, and immediately thought, oh, this girl's gonna
- 22:36Speaker 2: walk or like walk in the door and walk right out.
- 22:39Speaker 2: And you loved it. It was kind of I mean,
- 22:41Speaker 2: you actually loved the cold.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I was like, paula vortex, Okay.
- 22:46Speaker 9: Oh yeah, you go off for it.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Never heard that before. But now you're going to be
- 22:54Speaker 2: living in it, and it truly is going to be fantastic.
- 22:57Speaker 2: And when we talk about you getting all your friends together, Gabe, Angie, Pike, Amanda,
- 23:02Speaker 2: the four of us are actually really close. You'll probably
- 23:05Speaker 2: see us hanging out through the summer because it's actually real. Yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 2: this isn't just oh okay, we're all here doing whatever. No,
- 23:12Speaker 2: this is a real frontshop.
- 23:13Speaker 6: We've got a date on the golf course already.
- 23:16Speaker 9: Yes, absolutely, I would love that. Gabe and I since
- 23:19Speaker 9: he started and we were able to get to know
- 23:22Speaker 9: each other talking about golfing and definitely we'll be doing
- 23:25Speaker 9: that plenty and would love to have you guys with
- 23:28Speaker 9: I don't know Amanda if you will actually play, you know,
- 23:32Speaker 9: we don't want to slow down too much, but would
- 23:34Speaker 9: love to have you on the cart at least.
- 23:36Speaker 7: And it should be all well, Amanda and I will
- 23:38Speaker 7: be cute in the cart with drinks in hand.
- 23:41Speaker 6: That's the purpose of us. On the golf course.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Pike and I will be playing like we're trying to
- 23:45Speaker 3: win the Masters.
- 23:46Speaker 9: That's right, that's right. Well, it's going to be awesome.
- 23:52Speaker 9: Gabe and Angie, you guys will both be great. And Amanda,
- 23:56Speaker 9: you're gonna be awesome. This is guy, it's going to
- 23:58Speaker 9: get sad here for a second. Everyone, you know, tune
- 24:01Speaker 9: down if you don't want to want to hear that.
- 24:04Speaker 9: You know, it's just it's hard to it's hard to
- 24:06Speaker 9: see that, you know, this chapter is coming to an end.
- 24:08Speaker 9: Like for me and for you know, the people who
- 24:09Speaker 9: have been on Big ninety eight point seven since the beginning.
- 24:13Speaker 9: This is sort of the you know, the final door closing,
- 24:15Speaker 9: if you will. And I think I'm probably like many
- 24:18Speaker 9: people who just kind of assumed you'd be there forever
- 24:21Speaker 9: and we'd always be able to tune in and hear
- 24:23Speaker 9: your voice. But I've never you know, I've never been
- 24:26Speaker 9: really good at sharing actual emotions with people and like
- 24:30Speaker 9: genuine thoughts on things, So you know, this is difficult,
- 24:34Speaker 9: but I just, you know, and I never like to
- 24:37Speaker 9: fluffy up too much, you know, because it won't want
- 24:40Speaker 9: your head to get too big. But you're just such
- 24:42Speaker 9: a talent. I've never met somebody who's so funny and
- 24:46Speaker 9: easy to get along with and genuine when it comes
- 24:49Speaker 9: to your role in the community and seeing all the
- 24:52Speaker 9: things you do that I just see your posts on
- 24:55Speaker 9: social media and think, well, that's a lot of work.
- 24:58Speaker 9: What is she doing? But but you do it anyway
- 25:02Speaker 9: and for oftentimes no money, and so it's just you're
- 25:06Speaker 9: a great person, you really are. And I've never uh yeah,
- 25:10Speaker 9: never been able to be myself so much around somebody,
- 25:13Speaker 9: which is why our silly radio show was able to
- 25:16Speaker 9: work for so long. So I think, no matter what
- 25:20Speaker 9: you do, and you know, what I have found since
- 25:23Speaker 9: my retirement from the industry is that what you are
- 25:27Speaker 9: as a talent and as a person is not only
- 25:32Speaker 9: valuable in radio, but no matter what you do, all
- 25:35Speaker 9: of those skills are going to be relevant and you
- 25:38Speaker 9: will succeed at whatever that is because of who you are.
- 25:43Speaker 9: So I think it'll be great.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I love you, Pike, thank you so much, and I'm
- 25:49Speaker 2: glad you joined the show this morning because I think
- 25:52Speaker 2: it's important for people to know once again that this
- 25:55Speaker 2: next chapter truly is going to be wonderful for everybody.
- 25:58Speaker 9: So Amanda, just congratulate relations on an incredible run. You know,
- 26:02Speaker 9: we're lucky to have you for as long as we did,
- 26:05Speaker 9: but all good things come to an end, and you know,
- 26:10Speaker 9: it's just a it's an incredible run you've had in
- 26:12Speaker 9: the Fargo Moorhead area. Much alike the run that my
- 26:16Speaker 9: band Low Standards is as, which is not coming to
- 26:20Speaker 9: an end. In fact, we'll be playing to show this
- 26:23Speaker 9: Friday at the Sanctuary in downtown Fargo, part of the
- 26:27Speaker 9: nineties and two thousands Tribute Night, so you'll be seeing
- 26:30Speaker 9: your boys me included up on States doing a scent
- 26:33Speaker 9: to tribute Oasis, one of our favorite nineties British bands.
- 26:37Speaker 9: So come on out at twelve.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Get me right now?
- 26:42Speaker 9: What you said, I can say whatever I want.
- 26:44Speaker 2: No, I I know. So is this like a going
- 26:47Speaker 2: away party issue for me?
- 26:50Speaker 9: Well, I figured you would do what you've done traditionally
- 26:53Speaker 9: for the last, you know, twelve years, is tell me
- 26:55Speaker 9: that you're probably going to go. You're working on getting
- 26:57Speaker 9: a babysitter. Oh yeah, we'll see you there and then
- 27:00Speaker 9: and I don't see you.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I have a girl's weekend plan. So it wasn't
- 27:03Speaker 2: going to work.
- 27:03Speaker 6: But keep your show going, keep your show going.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Oh my god, bye
- 27:07Speaker 9: Love you, bye, see you Friday
