- 0:00Speaker 1: So how is it. Has it been?
- 0:02Speaker 2: It's been really really good. Yeah.
- 0:03Speaker 3: We're back at the rehearsal studios now as we're getting
- 0:06Speaker 3: ready for our first.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Show this weekend.
- 0:08Speaker 1: So exciting.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Yeah, so just mind the noise, sorry, Ali, We've just
- 0:12Speaker 3: had a few bands performing in here, so.
- 0:14Speaker 4: You look like you're in the back rehearsal room. Pretty much,
- 0:18Speaker 4: very cool background, that's right. You can just see the
- 0:21Speaker 4: heavy sign behind me by much.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a very cool background as well. Literally just
- 0:26Speaker 3: fine one to match up to yours.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Ali, That's why I was around the room.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So very cool.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It's very nice, thank you.
- 0:33Speaker 1: So, yes, you're about to start some shows yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yeah, so we have the SB this weekend and then
- 0:40Speaker 3: we're also doing on the thirty first the Young Tabinet Frankston.
- 0:43Speaker 3: So just a short tour for this single, but yeah,
- 0:45Speaker 3: really looking forward to this one and what a way
- 0:48Speaker 3: to kind of end the end the year off.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. So everyone's got a full roster at
- 0:53Speaker 1: the moment. There's yeah everywhere, I'm busy hours between.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So it's that time of the year, Alie, isn't it.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Most people kind of look forward to holidays and Christmas
- 1:03Speaker 3: and for us it's like, no, we've still got another single,
- 1:05Speaker 3: launch of music, videos and shows, and you know, it's
- 1:08Speaker 3: not the most wonderful time of year.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's the most stressful time of year. I find sometimes.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Absolutely it is. It is.
- 1:14Speaker 4: But you know when you say you're busy, it's it's good.
- 1:16Speaker 4: It's like absolutely, it's a good way to spend the summer,
- 1:20Speaker 4: that's for sure.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Sorry, yeah, your new track which has just come out,
- 1:25Speaker 4: and say yourself, it's catching, thank you, very catchy.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I did, like I was happy to have a listen
- 1:33Speaker 1: to that.
- 1:34Speaker 2: No, thanks, Sally.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 4: And so you're lead singer, lead vocals is that yes? Yes, yes,
- 1:40Speaker 4: excellent and yeah wow power voice.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you so much.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And so who else is in the band? Tell me
- 1:47Speaker 1: a bit about h L give me sit down.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:50Speaker 3: So we have so I'm the lead vocalist, and we
- 1:53Speaker 3: have Shannon, who is our lead guitarist.
- 1:55Speaker 2: We also have Sam who is our drummer.
- 1:57Speaker 3: We have Pio who is our bass player, and we
- 1:59Speaker 3: all have another female guitar player who is a rhythm
- 2:02Speaker 3: guitar is called Hannah.
- 2:04Speaker 2: So we're kind of like.
- 2:04Speaker 3: A front sort of centered female band. And then we've
- 2:07Speaker 3: got the three guys in the background to complete and
- 2:10Speaker 3: it's great, perfect, that's a nice blace. Yeah, it's good
- 2:14Speaker 3: even just having the addition of the rhythm guitar though
- 2:17Speaker 3: it's really sort of amplified and added more onto more
- 2:20Speaker 3: to the band.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So it's good absolutely. Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I'm a female vocalist bass player myself, so it's nice
- 2:26Speaker 4: to have a.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you look like you've got a bit of a
- 2:30Speaker 3: musician kind of look there and sounds like you'd be
- 2:32Speaker 3: a singer too.
- 2:33Speaker 4: So yeah, I I belt them out, so I don't
- 2:37Speaker 4: sing like an angel.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I sing like courtey long. Yeah. Nice.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Why not those big powerhouse ballad singers, that's what it's
- 2:42Speaker 3: all about.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, they have their stuff and I'll just do this yeah. Yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: but it does it.
- 2:50Speaker 4: It takes a strategy vocals, like when you're singing and
- 2:52Speaker 4: especially you're doing like a upset like yeah, it can
- 2:55Speaker 4: get yeah, yeah, hectics, so you've got to take care
- 2:58Speaker 4: of them. And hell you do that, whether that's through
- 3:01Speaker 4: cigarettes and alcohol.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Do you know what I actually find, Ellie, to be
- 3:06Speaker 3: honest with you, I always help well. I always say,
- 3:08Speaker 3: somebody can upset me before a performance, and I feel
- 3:10Speaker 3: like that's enough to kind of get me angry and
- 3:12Speaker 3: want to do more growls and bolts. So I'm actually
- 3:15Speaker 3: looking for reasons now to get upset. I'm like, because
- 3:17Speaker 3: I'm more angry or hurt I am, the better my
- 3:20Speaker 3: vocals are.
- 3:21Speaker 1: That's so funny that that's true.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Actually, I had someone say to me on Sunday again, gig, I,
- 3:25Speaker 4: did you know.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Like what a great voice? Because I didn't. It's quite loud.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I did on a cover of out Killing in the
- 3:32Speaker 1: Name of Ageist Machine.
- 3:33Speaker 4: And I love it because it's and I'm like, all
- 3:36Speaker 4: these years yelling at my children is paid off.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Like that's probably where all the like graffe comes from.
- 3:45Speaker 2: It's like all the vocal and.
- 3:49Speaker 1: You're like fish white yelling at them.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Yeah, no, it's it's so it's so exciting to like,
- 3:54Speaker 4: you know, see females out there doing it, because you know,
- 3:56Speaker 4: we're feel far between these days, aren't we.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I just I think a lot more females
- 4:01Speaker 3: sort of probably gravitate more towards other styles and genres.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I think rock and roll is kind of it's not
- 4:07Speaker 3: really something that they're that they do, but we're seeming
- 4:09Speaker 3: to get a lot of females back into it now,
- 4:11Speaker 3: which is why a lot of original rock artists and
- 4:14Speaker 3: it's really really good.
- 4:15Speaker 2: We're kind of seeing the whole turn around now. So
- 4:17Speaker 2: I'm excited for.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Sure, because rock and roll is just the best thing ever.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah, we have such a strong representation of females and
- 4:24Speaker 3: rock two as well that are so empowering. So I'm
- 4:26Speaker 3: really looking forward to even seeing a lot of the
- 4:29Speaker 3: underground like Melbourne bands too. We've got so many females
- 4:32Speaker 3: in the scene too that are amazing, So yeah, looking
- 4:35Speaker 3: forward absolutely.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I know there's a lot of incredible talent out there,
- 4:39Speaker 4: that's for sure.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So with Bet, how long are you guys? Have you
- 4:42Speaker 1: been with the Patent four?
- 4:44Speaker 3: So I've been with the band for about a year,
- 4:46Speaker 3: but the band had actually been together for a lot
- 4:49Speaker 3: longer than that. Yeah, they had gone through a few
- 4:52Speaker 3: other singers. But yeah, so now now that I've joined,
- 4:55Speaker 3: I've been with them for a year. And then we
- 4:57Speaker 3: also had Hannah join our band. I think she's been
- 4:59Speaker 3: a part of it for about six months now.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So yeah, kind of a whole new new chapter for hate.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Said that, we've been stepping into for this for this year,
- 5:07Speaker 3: so you need to kind of grow and build and
- 5:11Speaker 3: it's really just the start of us.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and are you all based in Melbourne or yes
- 5:15Speaker 1: we are?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yes?
- 5:16Speaker 1: Nice? Nice, that's good. It makes it easy for rehearsals
- 5:19Speaker 1: and shows and stuff.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Absolutely, And because we rehearse once a week every week
- 5:23Speaker 3: to as well, so it's yeah, it's good that.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah, we're very consistent.
- 5:27Speaker 3: It's good that everybody's local and nearby and everyone's dedicated
- 5:30Speaker 3: to so yeah, they're all need to do a rehearsal now.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Which is great.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Nice And now that's the key to isn't it.
- 5:36Speaker 4: The consistency is like when you're in a bandit like
- 5:38Speaker 4: it's being a bad marriage with like four other different people.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Sometimes.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Absolutely, And I think because even though we come into
- 5:46Speaker 3: rehearsal and a lot of the times of like, oh
- 5:48Speaker 3: we've done this set so many times, it kind of
- 5:50Speaker 3: gets a bit boring for us. But it's really important
- 5:52Speaker 3: to remember that it's all consistent.
- 5:54Speaker 2: We are because it is. That's why we're very tight
- 5:56Speaker 2: and on board.
- 5:57Speaker 3: And if we make a mistake, we're so quick to
- 5:59Speaker 3: catch a was back because we're just so in tune
- 6:01Speaker 3: with each other because we rehearse every week.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's so professional.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Yeah, no, that's awesome, and it shows when the band's tight,
- 6:09Speaker 4: you know that they sound good and they're not messy.
- 6:12Speaker 4: And even though like playing live it's raw and it's
- 6:14Speaker 4: whatnot and you can make mistakes, you've got that sort
- 6:16Speaker 4: of buffer. Yeah, but it's not fine, it's yeah, you
- 6:19Speaker 4: can it shows, it comes through it.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 4: It's good to good to see consistency and just getting
- 6:26Speaker 4: on to show up every week.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So vans like one day we come on guys.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, And so what are the plans for the
- 6:34Speaker 4: coming year, like twenty twenty six look like the age there.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Yeah, So we're just we're finishing up with these shows
- 6:39Speaker 3: and then we're obviously going to look at continuing doing
- 6:41Speaker 3: a few more shows. We're also back into the studio
- 6:45Speaker 3: doing some more songwriting for the more single releases that
- 6:48Speaker 3: will have coming out. So it's pretty much just yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 3: back into the studio, doing some more writing and pretty
- 6:53Speaker 3: much planning for what we have next year.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Yeah, and so looking to do like a full album
- 6:59Speaker 4: released next year or sometimes.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Soon near the pipeline is it?
- 7:03Speaker 2: I would love to, but not yet, Ali, not yet.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Baby Steps.
- 7:08Speaker 2: It's good because we've.
- 7:09Speaker 3: We've had a lot of time in preparing a lot
- 7:11Speaker 3: of a lot of material, but we're just yeah, at
- 7:14Speaker 3: the moment, we're just going to be doing some single
- 7:16Speaker 3: releases and building up from there. But who knows, never
- 7:18Speaker 3: say never in the future, we've got a lot of
- 7:20Speaker 3: you know, great things to look forward to, so.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 7:24Speaker 4: And so with your shows that you're doing, are you
- 7:25Speaker 4: playing some of the band's old stuff or you're doing some.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Like you've obviously got any singles that are out or.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yeah, no, absolutely, So the band already had a lot
- 7:32Speaker 3: of original material when I joined, which we've still continued
- 7:34Speaker 3: carrying on, particularly for a lot of the hat said
- 7:37Speaker 3: fans that knew them beforehand. But we've also got a
- 7:41Speaker 3: lot of new material as well. So yeah, we've definitely
- 7:43Speaker 3: got a lot of new stuff. And yeah, absolutely so
- 7:47Speaker 3: we've got we've got a good selection of both for
- 7:49Speaker 3: everybody who via all the Fans page said so.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll watch this space. That sounds like there might
- 7:54Speaker 1: be some exciting stuff coming out for you guys next year,
- 7:57Speaker 1: thank you.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, the new track, it is definitely it's catchy,
- 7:59Speaker 4: it's it's got that you know that nice cooking.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good, it stays in your head.
- 8:04Speaker 2: No, thanks, Salie, I appreciate it.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Appreciate that feedback, and from another musician too as well,
- 8:09Speaker 3: from a female means a lot, So thank you.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Oh, I think that's okay. And yeah, it's good. And lyrics,
- 8:14Speaker 4: you know, as well as the music. It really makes
- 8:16Speaker 4: a big difference when they combined. It's not sometimes you
- 8:20Speaker 4: hear some things in the music and the lyrics are
- 8:22Speaker 4: well depart better.
- 8:24Speaker 3: No, absolutely, yeahred percent of the music, in the story
- 8:26Speaker 3: behind it and how they come together. It's very, very
- 8:28Speaker 3: important because one thing can always let something down, so
- 8:31Speaker 3: they've got to match up one hundred percent.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I do agree, yeah, absolutely, and so do yourself.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Do you involved in the songwriting in terms of music
- 8:39Speaker 4: or the lyrics?
- 8:41Speaker 2: No. Absolutely.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I've actually got a really funny story with this particular
- 8:44Speaker 3: single release because the boys had pretty much just given
- 8:47Speaker 3: me the music. There was no words, no melody over
- 8:49Speaker 3: the top, and Shannon said to me, this is going
- 8:51Speaker 3: to be our next single release and I said, what
- 8:53Speaker 3: do you mean. There's no words, there's no melodies. We
- 8:56Speaker 3: haven't had time to prepare anything, and he goes, don't worry,
- 8:59Speaker 3: just go into the studio, we'll get something down. So
- 9:01Speaker 3: we've gone into the studio and within the first day
- 9:03Speaker 3: we pretty much had that that whole song down. So
- 9:07Speaker 3: it was like once we'd just gone and everything just
- 9:09Speaker 3: came together and just it pieced together so perfectly, So
- 9:12Speaker 3: I think, yeah, it was just kind of it was
- 9:14Speaker 3: quick and easy, but that pretty That song, to be honest,
- 9:17Speaker 3: was kind of written in the studio on the spot
- 9:19Speaker 3: as we were going along and we were kind of
- 9:21Speaker 3: constructing it that way. But yeah, we had it done
- 9:24Speaker 3: within a day, so it was good or worth it
- 9:26Speaker 3: in the end.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I think some of the best songs.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I was like, why are we releasing this?
- 9:32Speaker 3: But it all made sense and it was so worth
- 9:34Speaker 3: the challenge too, So it was yeah, and I think
- 9:36Speaker 3: some of the best songs ever written you are done
- 9:38Speaker 3: like that.
- 9:39Speaker 2: You know, when you're not thinking as well, they just
- 9:44Speaker 2: naturally flow. And do you know what.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It always helps when you're in the studio with a
- 9:47Speaker 3: good amount of creative people too, and you're just all
- 9:49Speaker 3: bouncing off of each other. That's going to bring the
- 9:52Speaker 3: best out of your creativity.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Definitely, So yeah, you got a good team behind me
- 9:57Speaker 2: for sure.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Oh excellent, excellent.
- 9:59Speaker 4: So when you play to come Northways visited in that's
- 10:02Speaker 4: sunny Sunny Gold Coast, Queensland.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 10:05Speaker 3: We've definitely been discussing doing some shows and traveling a
- 10:09Speaker 3: little bit more in Australia for sure. Next year we
- 10:12Speaker 3: definitely will. So keep a look out for sure, will definitely.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Yeah, And if you want some hot chips on some
- 10:17Speaker 4: good venues, I'll send you send you a.
- 10:19Speaker 1: List of the good ones.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah, there's any definitely, Yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yeah, No, there's plenty around, that's for sure. And it's
- 10:25Speaker 1: and it's great to see, like music isn't dad.
- 10:27Speaker 4: You know, there's a lot of venues out there supporting
- 10:29Speaker 4: original you know, Austrian music, and yeah, it's great. It's
- 10:34Speaker 4: it's so good life blood back into it. So it's encouraging.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It is you know, rock music. I think it's going
- 10:40Speaker 2: to make it comeback.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So we just got to keep keep supporting all the
- 10:43Speaker 3: independent artists who want to make it happen.
- 10:45Speaker 2: And yeah, we just got to stick together.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Yeah. And I had this conversation with another artist who
- 10:50Speaker 4: you know, were back in the day, they were what
- 10:52Speaker 4: it was done differently, we were quite well known, and.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's just it's not Music's not dead.
- 10:57Speaker 4: It's just different, you know than in how you succeed
- 11:00Speaker 4: get ahead these days is you know, everyone's doing it
- 11:02Speaker 4: differently as well.
- 11:02Speaker 1: But yeah, it's just you know, the different strategy. It's
- 11:05Speaker 1: not about But.
- 11:06Speaker 2: That's the thing too though. Ali music's always evolved and
- 11:08Speaker 2: so is the industry. And that's the thing. You know.
- 11:10Speaker 3: You you learn one thing, it changes the next year
- 11:12Speaker 3: or the next day, so you just you have to
- 11:14Speaker 3: constantly keep up with and keep challenging yourself and keep
- 11:17Speaker 3: thinking differently and outside of the box because that's part
- 11:20Speaker 3: of being.
- 11:20Speaker 2: A musician as well. Unfortunately, So got to roll with
- 11:23Speaker 2: the punches.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't resist the machine, Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 11:28Speaker 4: There's plenty of a great new musician and artists that
- 11:30Speaker 4: are still stuck in their bedroom or their home studo
- 11:32Speaker 4: that will never get out there because they take that
- 11:34Speaker 4: punt on themselves.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And that's yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you guys definitely have which is good. And
- 11:40Speaker 4: you're doing it fairly independently as well, I believe, is
- 11:43Speaker 4: that right?
- 11:43Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely we are, Yeah, for sure.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we've formally signed to a label or just been
- 11:47Speaker 1: doing the Indian No, we've.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Just been keeping everything sort of independent at the moment,
- 11:51Speaker 3: and I think just in terms of because we write
- 11:53Speaker 3: all of our own songs and materials, and yeah, I
- 11:56Speaker 3: think we want to ensure that we have a lot
- 11:58Speaker 3: of control over our career activity and the things that
- 12:01Speaker 3: we write and keep that protected to us. So yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 3: no point, I think it's there's no point of being
- 12:07Speaker 3: a musician if you're not going to have that sort
- 12:10Speaker 3: of being creative or you know, have that part to protect.
- 12:13Speaker 4: So yeah, unless you aren't lucky enough to stumble across
- 12:16Speaker 4: a fairly non binding record label, Yeah, that's which they
- 12:20Speaker 4: are right there.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yeah, very hard to find, but you know, one does
- 12:25Speaker 2: want to come around.
- 12:25Speaker 4: We might look when you're in the know your car's right, Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 4: but no, that's so that's encouraging and it's good time.
- 12:33Speaker 4: I good to see you guys doing it. And the
- 12:35Speaker 4: band name itself as well? Am I correct in saying
- 12:39Speaker 4: that it's from H Holdens?
- 12:42Speaker 1: Is that where? I like that? I'm like, where's that
- 12:47Speaker 1: come from?
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:48Speaker 1: So impressive.
- 12:49Speaker 4: So does any of the band or yourselves driver holding
- 12:51Speaker 4: a H so more specifically, no, I don't.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Yeah, so Shannon in our band, he used to, so
- 13:00Speaker 3: I think that's how he's probably gotten the idea. He
- 13:03Speaker 3: actually he's done a whole video on our YouTube page
- 13:05Speaker 3: about how he's come up with the whole idea, so
- 13:07Speaker 3: he's got a whole story behind it.
- 13:09Speaker 2: But yeah, it's pretty much how he came
- 13:11Speaker 4: Up with it from the car, so that's good and
- 13:13Speaker 4: having a story behind it always helps you know, that
- 13:15Speaker 4: makes for good memories when you look back exactly
