- 1:15Speaker 4: Welcome in. Thanks for being with us.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It is all Willie Wednesday. This portion of the program
- 1:21Speaker 1: is brought to you by Radiant Dentistry. Coming up, we're
- 1:24Speaker 1: going to hear from Lane Kiffin, LSU coach. Scott Clendenin
- 1:30Speaker 1: is here, and Mallory is here with our entertainment segment.
- 1:38Speaker 1: The Rangers and the Astros are dead even with five
- 1:44Speaker 1: games left in the regular season. The Astros won last night,
- 1:52Speaker 1: 7-0 over the Mariners. The Astros lost last night to
- 2:00Speaker 1: the Mets, 6-3. Four of those six runs they handed
- 2:07Speaker 1: to them. I said about six weeks ago that that
- 2:11Speaker 1: five-error game was the low light of the season. The
- 2:16Speaker 1: worst game they had played, which it was until last night,
- 2:21Speaker 1: given everything that was on the line. They were brutal.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Cody Bradford on the mound tonight. Nolan McClain for the Mets.
- 2:31Speaker 1: That game will start at 7.05 at the ballpark. We
- 2:36Speaker 1: will have Astros Mariners on for you. Again, five games left.
- 2:46Speaker 1: The Rangers have two left with the Mets before ending
- 2:52Speaker 1: at Minnesota. The Astros have one left tonight with the
- 2:58Speaker 1: Mariners before going, well, they don't go to Oakland. They
- 3:01Speaker 1: go to Sacramento to play Oakland the last four of
- 3:06Speaker 1: the year. It was ugly last night. Did I mention that?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Before the game, Jock Peterson Done. 10-day injured list. Fractured
- 3:19Speaker 1: left wrist. We already knew that Cal Quantrill was done.
- 3:24Speaker 1: They put him on the 60-day injured list. They activated
- 3:30Speaker 1: Michael Hellman from the injured list. Peyton Gray from the
- 3:34Speaker 1: 15-day injured list. Adam Macko optioned to rookie level. Peterson
- 3:41Speaker 1: was hit by a pitch September 12th, has missed the
- 3:45Speaker 1: last seven, just couldn't make it work. Nathan Evaldi was
- 3:52Speaker 1: terrible last night. Big game Nate coming off the I-L. Four,
- 3:59Speaker 1: what you would call misplays or miscommunication. The offense, one
- 4:06Speaker 1: for eight with runners in scoring position. Corey Seager, who
- 4:10Speaker 1: had to step up, failed twice with runners on base,
- 4:17Speaker 1: three strikeouts, and all the Rangers struck out 15 times.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Texas A & M releasing a statement today that the
- 4:31Speaker 1: league has made them aware there have been social media accounts,
- 4:36Speaker 1: mostly on X, replicating inaccurate injury reports that look exactly
- 4:42Speaker 1: like official ones. They say they're encouraging them to let
- 4:48Speaker 1: media know to avoid inaccurate reporting, only reference the SEC's
- 4:54Speaker 1: official injury availability reports. Uh, Earlier today, Senate leaders sent
- 5:03Speaker 1: to Republicans a request for unanimous consent to expedite a
- 5:07Speaker 1: final vote on the Protect College Sports Act and bypass
- 5:14Speaker 1: procedural steps because of time restraints.
- 5:18Speaker 4: That failed.
- 5:20Speaker 1: There have been more than 35 amendments.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Filed on that act.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And Your Congress at work, including Cory Booker, who filed
- 5:37Speaker 1: an amendment to protect the College Sports Act to cap
- 5:41Speaker 1: coaching salaries at $ 5 million a year. Cory Booker's okay
- 5:48Speaker 1: taking $ 5 million worth of PAC money, but he doesn't
- 5:51Speaker 1: want coaches making whatever the market would bear. That would
- 5:55Speaker 1: be a free enterprise system. He doesn't want that. Donald
- 6:00Speaker 1: Trump is going to the Texas-Tennessee game in Knoxville Saturday
- 6:06Speaker 1: night at Neyland Stadium. It would mark Trump's, let's see,
- 6:14Speaker 1: the last time he was at a college game was
- 6:16Speaker 1: Indiana-Miami at the national championship game. He attended game three
- 6:22Speaker 1: of the NBA finals between the Knicks and the Spurs.
- 6:26Speaker 1: He attended a FIFA World Cup match. in July, presenting
- 6:32Speaker 1: Spain with the championship trophy. I'm sure the fans are
- 6:37Speaker 1: thrilled with all of the, everything that will be in
- 6:42Speaker 1: place to try to protect the president at that game.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Georgia head coach Kirby Smart reveals a unique NIL incentive
- 6:53Speaker 1: for wide receiver London Humphreys. Says Smart, he's got a
- 6:58Speaker 1: deal in his NIL incentive. The more special teams he plays,
- 7:04Speaker 1: the more money he gets. He wants to be on
- 7:07Speaker 1: special teams. He wants to play every snap on special teams.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I keep trying to take him off to save.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Money, and it's not working.
- 7:18Speaker 1: He's worth it.
- 7:19Speaker 4: I love that.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Play for pay. That's what we're doing. We already knew it.
- 7:25Speaker 1: ESPN announced that almost 11 million viewers average Ole Miss,
- 7:31Speaker 1: Tennessee on Saturday night with a peak of 13.7 million.
- 7:36Speaker 1: 7 million viewers on Alabama, Florida State. 5.4 million viewers
- 7:42Speaker 1: on A & M, Kentucky. A & M fans would
- 7:53Speaker 1: probably rather there be about 100,000 viewers for that game.
- 7:57Speaker 6: $ 4.
- 7:57Speaker 1: 2 million for Georgia and Arkansas. And $ 3. 5 million for
- 8:06Speaker 1: Clemson and North Carolina. Remember the deal CBS made to
- 8:12Speaker 1: get rid of the SEC?
- 8:18Speaker 4: They had Rutgers and USC on.
- 8:21Speaker 1: $ 1.
- 8:21Speaker 4: 7 million. Who made that deal?
- 8:31Speaker 1: The NHL ain't moving to Texas yet. At the Board
- 8:37Speaker 1: of Governors meeting yesterday, Gary Bettman, the commissioner, said the
- 8:44Speaker 1: NHL is still mulling expansion to a second market in Texas,
- 8:50Speaker 1: meaning either Houston or Austin. From billionaire Dan Friedkin, who
- 8:57Speaker 1: has the exclusive rights, we would expect we'll know by
- 9:03Speaker 1: the end of the year which market they prefer without
- 9:06Speaker 1: offering that there was a frontrunner. They still have a
- 9:11Speaker 1: lot of work to do, said Gary Bettman. And there's this.
- 9:19Speaker 1: If you follow the NHL, this is sad. The Colorado
- 9:26Speaker 1: Avalanche are using a driverless Zamboni to resurface the ice.
- 9:36Speaker 1: The Avalanche says the machine, called a Mammoth, has already
- 9:41Speaker 1: made a huge difference on the practice ice. They say
- 9:45Speaker 1: players prefer the sheet run by the mammoth and the
- 9:49Speaker 1: automated system can control the thickness of the ice better
- 9:52Speaker 1: than any human ever could.
- 9:55Speaker 4: It's just wrong, people.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It's another excuse. another example of automation taking over our lives.
- 10:06Speaker 1: It is wrong to have a driverless Zamboni. Chris Patola
- 10:13Speaker 1: has died, ESPN basketball analyst, And son-in-law of former Duke
- 10:18Speaker 1: coach Mike Krzyzewski. He leaves behind a wife and three kids.
- 10:25Speaker 1: He was just 47. And the President's Cup kicks off
- 10:32Speaker 1: tomorrow morning at Medina. This is golf we're talking about.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Team USA, heavy favorite against the international team. They've won
- 10:42Speaker 1: 10 in a row. This ain't the Ryder Cup, by
- 10:48Speaker 1: the way. The Americans have lost the last two Ryder Cups,
- 10:51Speaker 1: including on home soil a year ago. The Walker Cup team,
- 10:56Speaker 1: a roster with a number of the best male amateurs
- 10:59Speaker 1: in the world, lost to Team Great Britain in Ireland
- 11:02Speaker 1: a few weeks ago. The Sondheim Cup fell to Europe.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Pressure is on the Americans beginning tomorrow at Medina, which
- 11:13Speaker 1: has been redone, by.
- 11:14Speaker 4: The way, but it's... It's a monster. Okay. We got
- 11:19Speaker 4: a little rain here. I wish it moved to my yard,
- 11:23Speaker 4: but we ain't got a drop. I promise you, my
- 11:25Speaker 4: yard has not gotten a drop. Pouring here. Just a
- 11:30Speaker 4: little shower. This is all I'm asking for.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Just a little shower. I mean, just a little.
- 11:37Speaker 4: One would be great.
- 11:42Speaker 1: All right, Scott Clendenin is coming up tomorrow. We've got
- 11:45Speaker 1: our Clark Eisenhower outdoor edition. We have got a high
- 11:49Speaker 1: school report tomorrow. We're going to hear from some Aggie
- 11:51Speaker 1: football players tomorrow. May preview another SEC game tomorrow. We've
- 11:59Speaker 1: got some big ones this week. And we're going to
- 12:03Speaker 1: hear from LSU football coach Lane Kiffin after this for
- 12:09Speaker 1: Chad Jones Law.
- 12:11Speaker 7: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 12:14Speaker 7: do injuries from car wrecks. But you didn't sign up
- 12:17Speaker 7: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 12:18Speaker 7: paying attention. It was their fault, and now you're left
- 12:21Speaker 7: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a doctor,
- 12:24Speaker 7: and you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've
- 12:26Speaker 7: been helping our neighbors for more than two decades. Stop
- 12:29Speaker 7: getting frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember, don't

- 12:35Speaker 7: or go online to chadjoneslaw.com.
- 12:41Speaker 8: Make the zone a part of your tailgate, back porch gate,
- 12:44Speaker 8: home gate. Make the zone a part of your Aggie
- 12:46Speaker 8: Football Saturday. Game day on the zone brought to you
- 12:50Speaker 8: in part by Original Chop Shop, Ford of Madisonville, Kelly
- 12:54Speaker 8: Burt Dozer, and TexAx.com. It all starts with the game
- 12:58Speaker 8: day show. Of course, you hear every Aggie football game
- 13:02Speaker 8: home road. It doesn't matter here on the zone. And
- 13:04Speaker 8: then the call-in show after every A & M home game.
- 13:07Speaker 8: Spend your Aggie Football Saturdays here on the zone.
- 13:15Speaker 4: In twilight glow I.
- 13:18Speaker 9: See Blue eyes cry in.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Rain When we kissed goodbye and.
- 13:34Speaker 10: Parted I knew we'd never meet again.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Well, we've mentioned many times this is the song that
- 14:00Speaker 1: took Willie to a whole nother stratosphere on that redheaded
- 14:04Speaker 1: Stranger album back in the mid 70s. It is all
- 14:08Speaker 1: Willie Wednesday. We thank you for being with us. The
- 14:12Speaker 1: Aggies go to Death Valley on Saturday night to take
- 14:19Speaker 1: on the Tigers. We've already mentioned Joe Tessitore, Jesse Palmer,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and Chris Budden. The official announcing team of Aggie Athletics
- 14:35Speaker 1: will be on the call on ABC on Saturday night.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreet, Holly Rowe will be at Texas
- 14:48Speaker 1: and Tennessee at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning. And they
- 14:56Speaker 1: will have game day in Knoxville. Speaking of LSU and
- 15:04Speaker 1: Baton Rouge and Saturday night, we're going to hear from
- 15:09Speaker 1: LSU football coach Lane Kiffin.
- 15:20Speaker 11: Rivers would probably say that we actually lost for the
- 15:23Speaker 11: first time here because she hasn't been my teacher in
- 15:26Speaker 11: over two weeks for the first time ever. Just saying,
- 15:30Speaker 11: that might be it.
- 15:33Speaker 10: Some of the coaches brought that up. They miss you.
- 15:36Speaker 10: We might need to.
- 15:40Speaker 12: I don't think we've had a chance to ask you
- 15:41Speaker 12: this yet, but Landon apparently won a backup job.
- 15:46Speaker 10: When did you all make that decision? And would Landon?
- 15:49Speaker 11: You know, everything's always open here, you know, to evaluation
- 15:54Speaker 11: and practice, scrimmages, everything.
- 15:56Speaker 10: And even, you know, in the mock game. Landon was the.
- 16:00Speaker 11: Other quarterback in it as our third and played really well.
- 16:04Speaker 11: And so kind of earned his spot back in that.
- 16:09Speaker 11: But we're very pleased with both those guys. They've done
- 16:11Speaker 11: a really good job when they've gone in games. They
- 16:12Speaker 11: do a great job in practice. They, at different times,
- 16:16Speaker 11: have played the service quarterback for us to give looks,
- 16:18Speaker 11: especially last.
- 16:19Speaker 10: Week, to simulate that. So I'm really pleased with both
- 16:22Speaker 10: those guys.
- 16:26Speaker 13: Hey, Coach. Julian Munoz with LSU Tiger TV. Just wondering
- 16:29Speaker 13: how you're planning on utilizing the star position now that
- 16:31Speaker 13: Deshaun's out for the year?
- 16:36Speaker 11: Well, I mean, that's kind of competitive advantage that we're
- 16:40Speaker 11: going to really talk about exactly who we're going to
- 16:42Speaker 11: play and where and all that. But like anything with injuries,
- 16:45Speaker 11: you've got to have people step up. I've always said,
- 16:49Speaker 11: you know, it's the factor in football more than any
- 16:51Speaker 11: other sport by far out of your control is you're
- 16:54Speaker 11: going to have some years. that you have really good luck.
- 16:56Speaker 11: Last year we had great luck. I think we lost
- 17:00Speaker 11: one starter for a couple weeks the whole year. Now
- 17:01Speaker 11: this year it's going the other way. I think he's
- 17:04Speaker 11: the fifth or sixth guy lost for the year since
- 17:08Speaker 11: we've been here.
- 17:08Speaker 10: That's a crazy number. It's unfortunate. He's a really unique player.
- 17:15Speaker 10: I've said it when asked before.
- 17:19Speaker 11: Really long, can play in man, can blitz, and a
- 17:24Speaker 11: really special player. So that's going to be a really
- 17:27Speaker 11: tough loss for us.
- 17:31Speaker 14: Yeah, Coach, just what are you looking for from your
- 17:34Speaker 14: players after a loss? How do you want to see
- 17:37Speaker 14: them respond early in the week and kind of shifting
- 17:40Speaker 14: focus to Texas A & M and.
- 17:42Speaker 10: Then this week?
- 17:43Speaker 11: Yeah, so today, Tell the Truth Monday, we start with
- 17:46Speaker 11: the game. We go through that film and everything with them, position, coordinator,
- 17:50Speaker 11: team meeting, and then we move.
- 17:52Speaker 10: To the next one.
- 17:52Speaker 11: So I think they really struggled with this one after
- 17:57Speaker 11: seeing it. You know, after breaking down the film, talking
- 18:00Speaker 11: to someone, I feel like, you know, they really feel
- 18:02Speaker 11: like after seeing it that they lost the game in
- 18:06Speaker 11: so many situations and areas, you know, defensively, playing a
- 18:11Speaker 11: really good second half. They score one time. As you watch,
- 18:16Speaker 11: it's not even a run that the quarterback pulls the
- 18:18Speaker 11: ball on. We do a really good job beating.
- 18:21Speaker 10: The tight end on it. That just pulls the ball.
- 18:25Speaker 10: It's not even a zone read. He goes and scores.
- 18:28Speaker 11: Then we have two guys open in the end zone
- 18:30Speaker 11: at the end of the game. Those are really hard
- 18:33Speaker 11: ones to struggle with when you really go back and
- 18:35Speaker 11: look and see how many ways that we came all
- 18:37Speaker 11: the way back and should have won the game.
- 18:38Speaker 10: It was tough on them.
- 18:43Speaker 11: There's some games you just get outplayed, outcoached, and you go, okay,
- 18:48Speaker 11: back to the drawing board. But that one they really
- 18:52Speaker 11: struggled with this morning scene.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Coach, you're at home and it's at night. That's what
- 18:58Speaker 1: LSU fans have always wanted, but there seems to be
- 19:00Speaker 1: more discussion than ever about advantages for teams who play
- 19:03Speaker 1: at night at home as opposed to daytime.
- 19:05Speaker 10: What have you seen in that regard?
- 19:08Speaker 11: I think that's a really big case in the SEC.
- 19:11Speaker 10: I've said that for years.
- 19:14Speaker 11: You know, that when you play at home at night,
- 19:17Speaker 11: you know, um, you play better and it's offensive. I mean,
- 19:21Speaker 11: the stats show it struggle to score on the road and, um,
- 19:25Speaker 11: in the sec.
- 19:25Speaker 10: I think, I think it's.
- 19:28Speaker 11: 31 to 23 score home to away average in the sec.
- 19:33Speaker 10: That's a big difference.
- 19:34Speaker 11: You know, the home team scores 31 to 23, like 0.1
- 19:37Speaker 11: or something like that. Um, So I think that's a
- 19:41Speaker 11: number of factors. I think in general, always home matters.
- 19:45Speaker 11: But I think in the SEC, you have such loud environments.
- 19:50Speaker 11: Kirby used to have a theory when we used to
- 19:52Speaker 11: talk about it. So many of these places, they're smaller
- 19:55Speaker 11: towns so you've got to stay somewhere else and bus
- 19:57Speaker 11: in different than you would in the NFL or conferences
- 20:01Speaker 11: with bigger cities. But I say that's not the case
- 20:06Speaker 11: in LSU because We have a city that has more
- 20:08Speaker 11: than one hotel, so the team stays here.
- 20:11Speaker 10: And LSU's doing great at night.
- 20:13Speaker 11: So I think it's just playing at night, sitting around
- 20:15Speaker 11: all day, and going into hostile environments in offenses.
- 20:19Speaker 10: A lot of times struggling, especially early in the game.
- 20:25Speaker 12: Around the facility, playing your next opponents, watching the film
- 20:30Speaker 12: of your next opponents from their last game, what's sort
- 20:34Speaker 12: of the purpose behind doing that? What benefit does that
- 20:36Speaker 12: give for you guys?
- 20:38Speaker 11: Just to make sure their mind's always going to the
- 20:40Speaker 11: next game and not on the last one.
- 20:41Speaker 10: Whether you win or lose, we do the same thing.
- 20:44Speaker 11: Just so as they're walking by, they're seeing the team
- 20:47Speaker 11: playing from this season, usually from the week before.
- 20:52Speaker 9: Coach, I know it was before you were here, but
- 20:53Speaker 9: the last couple years, LSU hasn't had good luck with
- 20:55Speaker 9: Marcel Reed at quarterback, but it seems like the run
- 20:58Speaker 9: defense has gotten a lot better.
- 20:59Speaker 10: Under Blake Baker.
- 20:59Speaker 15: What are you looking for for your defense this week?
- 21:03Speaker 10: This is a big test. Like you said, we've Struggled
- 21:06Speaker 10: here with him before.
- 21:09Speaker 11: I think we lead the country in rush defense, but
- 21:12Speaker 11: that hasn't been worth against a ton of quarterback-schemed runs.
- 21:17Speaker 10: Last week was just him making stuff on.
- 21:19Speaker 11: His own and the long run when he pulled the ball.
- 21:23Speaker 10: That's a different set of challenges.
- 21:25Speaker 11: It really takes a lot of discipline and a lot
- 21:28Speaker 11: of guys doing really well on defense to avoid that.
- 21:33Speaker 9: Coach, over here, in the last couple of games, I
- 21:35Speaker 9: believe eight tip passes for the last couple of games.
- 21:39Speaker 9: Have you seen some of the problems there and how
- 21:40Speaker 9: you think you limit those numbers just moving forward?
- 21:43Speaker 10: Tip passes? Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 11: I think we've got to do a better job in
- 21:48Speaker 11: our passing game of being consistent with more completions. We
- 21:53Speaker 11: have a lot of incompletions, a lot of dead plays
- 21:55Speaker 11: where you're not getting anything. You're not making the defense
- 21:57Speaker 11: run sideline to sideline. You're not completing the ball and and.
- 22:01Speaker 10: That's been part of it.
- 22:02Speaker 11: So I'm just dealing with that and getting guys hands
- 22:05Speaker 11: down and, and getting the ball in the throne lanes.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Lane, what are some of the emotions that you've seen
- 22:11Speaker 1: out of your team since Saturday night?
- 22:12Speaker 13: And how do you, as a staff, get them to
- 22:14Speaker 13: turn the page so you don't compound that one into
- 22:17Speaker 13: an additional loss in September?
- 22:20Speaker 10: Yeah, I think, I think it was a lot.
- 22:21Speaker 11: Obviously I talked to about mine, um, right after the
- 22:25Speaker 11: game when I was asked, but I think that they went,
- 22:27Speaker 11: they went through a lot and some players that have
- 22:29Speaker 11: played there, all that.
- 22:30Speaker 10: Stuff, you know?
- 22:30Speaker 11: And so I think initially it was like one feeling,
- 22:34Speaker 11: you know, about.
- 22:35Speaker 10: You know, that happening and losing the game.
- 22:37Speaker 11: And then, like I said, I think this morning, I
- 22:40Speaker 11: went through it yesterday, watching the film. They went through
- 22:42Speaker 11: it this morning, watching the film of going, wait, like
- 22:45Speaker 11: the game was right there to be won. You know,
- 22:47Speaker 11: we go down there, have a chance to take the
- 22:49Speaker 11: lead and settle for the field goal on the three
- 22:52Speaker 11: yard line when we're just running a normal goal line
- 22:54Speaker 11: run to get it closer to go for it on
- 22:56Speaker 11: fourth down. The last two times we go inside the five,
- 23:00Speaker 11: the next time there's two guys open in the end
- 23:02Speaker 11: zone for touchdowns and we get three combined points.
- 23:06Speaker 10: I think their.
- 23:07Speaker 11: Emotions had probably gotten a little better and then this
- 23:11Speaker 11: morning when they saw it, I think it went down.
- 23:15Speaker 11: I made sure when we transitioned at 10 to the
- 23:18Speaker 11: next opponent.
- 23:18Speaker 10: You know, I told him, like, hey, we got to
- 23:20Speaker 10: go out of here and regroup.
- 23:22Speaker 11: We got to move on, you know, because we can't
- 23:23Speaker 11: let that missed opportunity, you know, have to do with
- 23:29Speaker 11: us losing another game.
- 23:30Speaker 12: I know you've never chanced to coach Tyree Adams and
- 23:33Speaker 12: Cohen Echols, but whenever you came in, did you have
- 23:37Speaker 12: a chance to talk to those guys before they transferred in?
- 23:39Speaker 10: I don't know if you've noticed them on film, just
- 23:41Speaker 10: what your observations have been.
- 23:44Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, a little bit, you know, right away.
- 23:49Speaker 11: I don't have much on that. I've said it before,
- 23:54Speaker 11: college football has become a business in that sense for
- 24:00Speaker 11: players and it's understandable.
- 24:04Speaker 10: It is what it is. It's just the world we
- 24:06Speaker 10: live in.
- 24:06Speaker 11: Everybody plays every week against somebody that they played against
- 24:09Speaker 11: last week, it seems like, on every team. He's doing
- 24:12Speaker 11: well this year. They've got new players up there up front.
- 24:16Speaker 11: I this is really about us playing well and playing
- 24:22Speaker 11: better than last week and starting better than we did
- 24:25Speaker 11: last week.
- 24:25Speaker 10: Hey, Coach.
- 24:26Speaker 13: I know you were not here last year during the
- 24:28Speaker 13: A & M game, but how do you feel about
- 24:29Speaker 13: the Aggie fan base sort of taking over Death Valley,
- 24:31Speaker 13: and how can you prevent that this Saturday?
- 24:34Speaker 11: By winning and getting up. I mean, that's what happens
- 24:38Speaker 11: in this sport. I mean, I'm watching the cut-ups of
- 24:40Speaker 11: four minutes, or actually when you walk by the TV
- 24:42Speaker 11: and there's four minutes left in the game last week,
- 24:44Speaker 11: and their stadium's empty. So that's what happens. Get up
- 24:48Speaker 11: by two scores and The home team people usually leave.
- 24:52Speaker 11: And so it happened here. It happened to them last week.
- 24:55Speaker 11: So play really well.
- 24:57Speaker 10: That's how you can.
- 25:00Speaker 9: Lane, I'm going to ask this question thinking that Sam,
- 25:05Speaker 9: maybe you agree or not. trusted his arm more as
- 25:07Speaker 9: the game went on. It seemed like he hung in
- 25:09Speaker 9: the pocket more as the game went on. How do
- 25:11Speaker 9: you continue that progression? Do you feel that he did that?
- 25:13Speaker 9: And if so, how do you continue that progression? You
- 25:16Speaker 9: don't want him to stop running. I'm not saying that,
- 25:18Speaker 9: but just staying in the pocket more and letting passes develop.
- 25:21Speaker 10: Yeah, I think that's a really accurate observation by you.
- 25:24Speaker 11: And I broke that down to the team so they understand,
- 25:27Speaker 11: because I think often players, you know, see social media
- 25:31Speaker 11: or whatever, and I don't, I know what it says,
- 25:34Speaker 11: but I bet it says this week, okay, man, they
- 25:36Speaker 11: showed the open receivers. And Sam not hitting open receivers
- 25:40Speaker 11: in the game, probably three different touchdowns.
- 25:43Speaker 10: But then I break it down to.
- 25:44Speaker 11: Them so they see, okay, hey, wait, that seems easy
- 25:47Speaker 11: to throw the ball to the open guy for a touchdown.
- 25:49Speaker 11: But when you get impacted early in the game by rush,
- 25:52Speaker 11: that they did a really good job, same thing obviously
- 25:55Speaker 11: everybody tries to do against a quarterback, and you can't
- 25:58Speaker 11: step up, and you're getting beat inside, and a guy's open,
- 26:02Speaker 11: and you can't step up and throw in rhythm, it
- 26:05Speaker 11: affects you.
- 26:07Speaker 10: Confidence is fragile.
- 26:08Speaker 11: At every position, but especially at quarterback, because it's the
- 26:11Speaker 11: one position you've got to do your job with potentially
- 26:14Speaker 11: getting hit from all over. And when you have success,
- 26:19Speaker 11: a lot of the plays he was having success was
- 26:21Speaker 11: taking off on his own and doing things, so it's
- 26:24Speaker 11: hard to stay in there when that's how the game
- 26:26Speaker 11: was going. but he knows he's got to do a
- 26:29Speaker 11: better job of that even in those situations and deliver
- 26:33Speaker 11: the ball on time and not try too much.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Salane Kiffin and that will be without at least two
- 26:42Speaker 1: big players that we know of. One offense, one defense.
- 26:46Speaker 1: We saw last week you can't really trust the injury
- 26:49Speaker 1: report when Sam Levitt was listed as questionable I think
- 26:54Speaker 1: a couple of days before the game and then The
- 26:57Speaker 1: last injury report was, oh, yeah, he's playing. Deshaun Spears,
- 27:03Speaker 1: their star position, rover, strong safety, however you want to,
- 27:11Speaker 1: depending on the defense, linebacker, he's out. Kiffin said he's
- 27:16Speaker 1: kind of irreplaceable. And for my money, the best athlete
- 27:23Speaker 1: on the team is Tredez Green, the tight end. He
- 27:25Speaker 1: is a monster. And he is out and will be
- 27:31Speaker 1: after the game, they said, for a few games. What
- 27:34Speaker 1: that means, I'm not quite sure yet. But they got
- 27:40Speaker 1: beat up pretty good by Ole Miss on Saturday night.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Ole Miss had some injuries as well. Obviously, A &
- 27:50Speaker 1: M lost Bussey. Don't know yet. about a couple of
- 27:59Speaker 1: players and Elko had said Monday, we'll, we'll just see
- 28:06Speaker 1: how the week goes. Uh, Jamari and Morrow was out
- 28:12Speaker 1: for that game. Um, we expect, um, well, I just,
- 28:23Speaker 1: I don't know yet. We'll, we'll see. Um, But those
- 28:28Speaker 1: are two, like I said, those are two big-time losses
- 28:32Speaker 1: for LSU heading into the game on Saturday. Eight and
- 28:35Speaker 1: a half? Still at eight and a half? I think
- 28:40Speaker 1: I saw that today.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Still eight and a half, yes.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Still eight and a half. Okay. All right, we're going
- 28:45Speaker 1: to take a break. Scott Clendenin is here. Got a
- 28:48Speaker 1: few things to talk about today. We will do that.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Mallory will be with us in the back half of
- 28:55Speaker 1: the second hour. Yesterday, you know how that little tire
- 29:01Speaker 1: light flashes on that your tire pressure's low? I kept
- 29:07Speaker 1: having that flash on. Then it would go off because
- 29:09Speaker 1: it gets hot, you know, when you drive it and,
- 29:12Speaker 1: you know, that kind of stuff. But I rolled into
- 29:15Speaker 1: Sebchek's yesterday, and I hadn't talked to Pat for a while.
- 29:19Speaker 1: And Kay was there. And While I was talking to Pat,
- 29:25Speaker 1: they put the error back in my tires because all
- 29:27Speaker 1: of them were low, as it turns out. I hadn't
- 29:29Speaker 1: had that done in a while. And that's a good reminder.
- 29:32Speaker 1: If you're going on the road, you're following your junior
- 29:37Speaker 1: high team, your high school team, your college team. your
- 29:40Speaker 1: pro team, go by and let Pat and his staff
- 29:45Speaker 1: out front the triage, I like to call it. Another
- 29:47Speaker 1: guy had some tire issues when I was there and
- 29:50Speaker 1: was following me, and let them put the right amount
- 29:54Speaker 1: of air in your tires. When gas is over $ 4
- 29:57Speaker 1: a gallon, you want to get every bit of mileage
- 30:04Speaker 1: you can get. And one of the places that starts
- 30:08Speaker 1: is with your tires and being properly inflated.
- 30:12Speaker 4: And I did that.
- 30:13Speaker 1: It took about five minutes. I'm on my way. You
- 30:17Speaker 1: can do that every single day. They're open 7 until
- 30:20Speaker 1: 6 through Friday, 7 to 4 on Saturdays. They've been
- 30:27Speaker 1: doing this for well over a half hour. A century.
- 30:30Speaker 1: So you owe it to yourself and your family. Sevchak

- 32:26Speaker 1: on the, on the schedule. You have between now and
- 32:30Speaker 1: five o'clock Friday afternoon to go in and make your picks.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Our tiebreaker game is LSU. A and M consolidated college station.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Uh, Elgin at Rudder. Texas at Tennessee.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Ole Miss at Florida. Utah at Iowa State. Nebraska at
- 32:55Speaker 1: Michigan State. Clemson at Cal. The Texans at the Colts.
- 33:03Speaker 1: The Ravens at the Cowboys.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Not at.
- 33:08Speaker 1: The Cowboys are at the Ravens?
- 33:10Speaker 4: No, they're in Brazil.
- 33:12Speaker 1: You play in Rio. Oh, that's right. Well, I don't
- 33:14Speaker 1: really care.
- 33:14Speaker 4: That changes the whole thing. No, it doesn't.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I don't care where they're playing. The Ravens, but they
- 33:19Speaker 1: are playing, right? Okay, good.
- 33:22Speaker 4: In Rio.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Like I care.
- 33:24Speaker 4: All right, go ahead and make your picks. There's 10 games.
- 33:27Speaker 1: You have until 5 o'clock Friday to make those picks.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Make them count.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I'm going to give away... weekly prize, and somebody's getting
- 33:37Speaker 1: their name engraved on the cup when it's all said
- 33:40Speaker 1: and done. Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest, America's Most Loved
- 33:45Speaker 1: Football Pick'em Contest, a division of Sports Talk, presented by
- 33:49Speaker 1: Zornem and Flooring at Chad Jones Law.
- 33:56Speaker 4: So you say I wasn't listening closely. You were not
- 33:58Speaker 4: listening close enough.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Sounded like my wife. Um, Okay, I got to make
- 34:05Speaker 1: some repicks. Yes. I got to go in and make
- 34:08Speaker 1: some repicks. One, two. I'm just making two repicks, actually.
- 34:14Speaker 4: How many did you make last week? I think I
- 34:17Speaker 4: made two.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Repicks last week.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Okay.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I was seven and three.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Yeah, so was I. You're in trouble.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. If you're up there with me, I'm
- 34:27Speaker 1: in trouble. But I'm still only about two or three
- 34:29Speaker 1: games off the lead. About two games out, so I'm
- 34:33Speaker 1: okay right now.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Considering I was last, I am working my way back
- 34:38Speaker 4: into serious contention for the middle of the pack. It's
- 34:43Speaker 4: a long season, so we'll see what happens. I'm going
- 34:47Speaker 4: to get eight this week. I thought I was getting
- 34:49Speaker 4: eight last week, but I didn't.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I don't even remember last week now.
- 34:55Speaker 4: Well, I went from four to six, and I said
- 34:57Speaker 4: I was going to get eight, but I told you
- 34:59Speaker 4: I was giving one away.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Which one did you give away?
- 35:02Speaker 4: Oh, I can't say.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 35:07Speaker 4: But I'm not giving any away this week. There's no
- 35:09Speaker 4: way you picked UTSA to beat Texas. No way.
- 35:14Speaker 1: You did, didn't you?
- 35:16Speaker 4: UTSA to beat Texas?
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you did pick that, didn't you?
- 35:19Speaker 4: UTSA? On what contest?
- 35:21Speaker 1: You picked that.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Oh, that wasn't on mine.
- 35:24Speaker 12: No.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Was that on Cessna's?
- 35:26Speaker 12: Yes.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Oh, no, I didn't even put that on mine.
- 35:28Speaker 4: No, I missed College Station Weiss. I missed North Texas
- 35:33Speaker 4: and Texas State.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I got Weiss.
- 35:35Speaker 4: And I missed the Bengals beating the Texans.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I got Texas State. I've missed the Oilers and the Cowboys.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I've just killed me so far.
- 35:48Speaker 4: You've been the other way each time.
- 35:50Speaker 1: They've killed me, yeah. I did pick the Cowboys to
- 35:54Speaker 1: beat the Redskins last week. Didn't know their quarterback was
- 35:57Speaker 1: going to get hurt.
- 35:58Speaker 4: But you also probably picked the Texans to beat the Bengals.
- 36:02Speaker 10: I did.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I missed that one, too.
- 36:03Speaker 1: They killed me. Killed me. So, oh.
- 36:08Speaker 4: You picked Brian High over Rutter.
- 36:10Speaker 1: No, I didn't. I picked Rutter.
- 36:11Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 12: Really?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Yes, sir. I got that one. I did okay with
- 36:16Speaker 1: that one. Oh, SMU Louisville.
- 36:19Speaker 4: I missed SMU Louisville. You told me you were giving
- 36:20Speaker 4: me that one.
- 36:22Speaker 10: I did.
- 36:22Speaker 6: I did.
- 36:24Speaker 4: I gave you that one. That's right. I said I'm
- 36:27Speaker 4: giving you that pick. You did.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I know.
- 36:31Speaker 4: And I told you which one I was giving you.
- 36:34Speaker 1: No, I forgot now.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Good, because I'm not going to say it publicly.
- 36:37Speaker 1: You're not?
- 36:38Speaker 6: No.
- 36:38Speaker 1: You're embarrassed?
- 36:39Speaker 10: No.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Not embarrassed. I don't remember all of them now. Okay.
- 36:48Speaker 1: You picked Arkansas to beat Georgia. No, that wasn't on there.
- 36:51Speaker 4: Okay. I told you which ones I picked. I picked
- 36:55Speaker 4: Ole Miss to beat LSU. You picked LSU.
- 36:58Speaker 1: No, I didn't. I picked Ole Miss.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I picked Ole Miss.
- 37:03Speaker 4: What did I lose?
- 37:04Speaker 1: I picked a lot of good games last week. I
- 37:07Speaker 1: lost one of the pro games.
- 37:10Speaker 4: I know that.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I know I got the high school right. I got
- 37:16Speaker 1: Weiss and Rutter.
- 37:17Speaker 10: Okay.
- 37:18Speaker 4: I picked those two games.
- 37:20Speaker 12: I lost.
- 37:21Speaker 4: SMU.
- 37:22Speaker 1: SMU, Louisville.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Did we do Florida, Auburn? I know I picked Florida.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I got it up right now. Okay.
- 37:31Speaker 4: So you lost SMU.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 4: You lost Virginia. Ah, Virginia. Was it Virginia and West Virginia?
- 37:38Speaker 1: Virginia and West Virginia. There you go.
- 37:39Speaker 4: And then it was the Texans versus the Bengals. You know,
- 37:42Speaker 4: only one person on the panel for game day picked
- 37:45Speaker 4: West Virginia. Wow.
- 37:48Speaker 6: Wow.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Well, so I don't feel too bad.
- 37:51Speaker 4: There are two people from one played at West Virginia
- 37:54Speaker 4: and one is born in West Virginia. And one got
- 37:56Speaker 4: it right and one got it wrong.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Pat McAfee played football at West Virginia.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Okay. So I know he picked West Virginia.
- 38:04Speaker 9: And.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Who else did you say?
- 38:06Speaker 4: Well, Saban is from... Oh, Saban.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:08Speaker 4: And he picked the Hoos. Really?
- 38:11Speaker 15: Yes.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:12Speaker 4: And there was a lot of consternation right there on
- 38:14Speaker 4: the set. Yeah.
- 38:17Speaker 1: West Virginia. What was I thinking putting that game in there?
- 38:20Speaker 1: There's a little bit of a rivalry there.
- 38:22Speaker 4: Not like Pittsburgh.
- 38:23Speaker 6: Right.
- 38:24Speaker 4: No, there is.
- 38:25Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Yeah. West Virginia is hosting Iowa State, I believe, this weekend.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Because Cease made me pick that game.
- 38:37Speaker 10: Yeah? Yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 4: I'm sure you picked the right team. I don't know.
- 38:43Speaker 4: I don't know. I... There was a lot of angst.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Now that I'm near the lead, I know I'm taking
- 38:51Speaker 1: way too much time and way too much thought on
- 38:54Speaker 1: these games.
- 38:55Speaker 4: And not taking any chances now.
- 38:57Speaker 1: And right, not taking any chances. Like, the first two weeks,
- 39:01Speaker 1: I just went zip, zip, zip, zip, zip.
- 39:02Speaker 4: I picked it about two minutes. You've got to keep
- 39:04Speaker 4: doing it.
- 39:04Speaker 10: I know.
- 39:05Speaker 2: I know.
- 39:05Speaker 4: Go with the first impression. Go with the first impression.
- 39:09Speaker 4: You changed, too, last week.
- 39:10Speaker 6: I did.
- 39:10Speaker 4: You got the same as me.
- 39:12Speaker 10: I know.
- 39:12Speaker 4: That's the problem. Well, I didn't change Virginia and West Virginia.
- 39:15Speaker 4: I don't believe. I know I didn't do that. I
- 39:18Speaker 4: was on that one. Well, then you changed two losers
- 39:23Speaker 4: to two winners, so maybe I should just be quiet.
- 39:25Speaker 4: You would have got a five if you hadn't changed two.
- 39:27Speaker 4: You're right. I did change two. I know I did.
- 39:30Speaker 10: Two.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I don't remember which two, but I did change. So
- 39:34Speaker 1: I'm going back and changing this week, too. I'm looking
- 39:37Speaker 1: at my picks. I'm going to change a couple. I
- 39:45Speaker 1: don't know if I'm doing right or not. It's Utah
- 39:47Speaker 1: and Iowa State, by the way. This week.
- 39:51Speaker 4: No, it's not. Yeah, I put that on there.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Utah at Iowa State. The Utes and the Clones. Okay,
- 40:00Speaker 1: we're going to take a break.
- 40:02Speaker 4: We've got a lot to talk about. We'll come back.

- 41:19Speaker 5: The Houston Astros are back in first place of the
- 41:21Speaker 5: AL West as they defeated the Mariners last night 7-0,
- 41:24Speaker 5: and the Texas Rangers fell to the Mets 6-3. The
- 41:28Speaker 5: Astros started off on the right foot, playing a run
- 41:30Speaker 5: in the first, followed by a three-run third thanks to
- 41:32Speaker 5: a Christian Walker three-run blast.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Christian drives one, high.
- 41:36Speaker 4: And deep to left field, a three-pointer!
- 41:40Speaker 8: Christian Walker loves the three-run home run!
- 41:45Speaker 1: And the Astros take a 4-0 lead.
- 41:47Speaker 18: Walker with RBIs 81, 82, and 83 on the year.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Houston now controls their destiny to win the division as
- 41:54Speaker 5: their magic number is five, with just five games to go.
- 41:58Speaker 5: They play the Mariners one more time tonight before facing
- 42:00Speaker 5: the Athletics for the final four games of the season.
- 42:03Speaker 5: First pitch tonight is scheduled for nine. With your Houston
- 42:07Speaker 5: Astros report, I'm Dylan Moore.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Okay, so let me tell you about MSC Opus season 54.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Last week, Aiden Ross was here. I hope you were
- 42:19Speaker 1: able to get out there and go, but Here's what's
- 42:23Speaker 1: coming to the main stage.
- 42:25Speaker 4: A beautiful noise.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Neil Diamond. Clue. Mystic Pizza. Among others. Singular sensations with
- 42:32Speaker 1: the Phil Collins story. The Intimate Gathering series, which was
- 42:36Speaker 1: so good last year with Churchill. This year's Churchill and Roosevelt.
- 42:42Speaker 1: And stuff for kids. Fraggle Rock and Cat in the Hat.
- 42:48Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind going to see Cat in the Hat,
- 42:50Speaker 1: by the way. So, anyway. Call the box office at 845-1234. 845-1234.
- 42:58Speaker 1: You can drop by there at Rudder. Or the best

- 43:55Speaker 1: Amen.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Well, hello there. It's been a long, long time.
- 45:14Speaker 1: I have no idea what's going on right now. They
- 45:18Speaker 1: just played the prelude to Healing Hands of Time.
- 45:23Speaker 4: Is he going to start doing Texas history, talking about
- 45:25Speaker 4: the Alamo on this one?
- 45:27Speaker 1: No, that's not this one.
- 45:28Speaker 4: Are you sure? Yeah.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I don't even know what this is. I've never heard
- 45:36Speaker 1: this with the orchestra. I have no idea what this is.
- 45:39Speaker 4: Making my ears cry. Where's Trigger? That's exactly what I
- 45:46Speaker 4: was thinking. That's exactly what.
- 45:48Speaker 15: I was thinking. Good gosh.
- 45:49Speaker 4: I've never heard this before.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Never. Would you find this out if you can, if
- 45:54Speaker 1: there's any way to find out where.
- 45:55Speaker 4: This is coming from? Keep playing it. Hang on just
- 45:58Speaker 4: a second.
- 45:59Speaker 10: No, no.
- 45:59Speaker 1: I've never heard of this before. Wait, just say it.
- 46:01Speaker 4: I'm going to Shazam it. So the album is Healing
- 46:03Speaker 4: Heads of Time, and it's called Funny How Time Slips Away.
- 46:06Speaker 1: I know what the song is.
- 46:07Speaker 10: Hold on.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Turn it up.
- 46:10Speaker 4: But you'd love him till the end of time.
- 46:18Speaker 5: Now that's the same thing that you told me.
- 46:23Speaker 4: So Sam says no. Hang on.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never... You have done something that people can't
- 46:31Speaker 1: do to me. You have played a song I... I mean,
- 46:34Speaker 1: I know the song, but a version... Two versions I've
- 46:38Speaker 1: never heard of before with an orchestra. I don't know
- 46:40Speaker 1: where this comes from.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Well, backstage at a Johnny Cash show.
- 46:44Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I don't know what that is.
- 46:46Speaker 4: I'm freaking out. Okay.
- 46:50Speaker 1: I think we've been saying this for about three months now,
- 46:53Speaker 1: that the Rangers and Astros were going to finish at 81-81.
- 46:56Speaker 4: You want to change that right now? I have a
- 47:02Speaker 4: question for you. Okay.
- 47:04Speaker 6: Okay.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Why in... How many games do you have the Rangers have?
- 47:08Speaker 4: They have five left, right?
- 47:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Same as the Astros.
- 47:11Speaker 4: Why do the Rangers have TBA and three of their
- 47:16Speaker 4: five starting pitchers?
- 47:17Speaker 1: Because they don't have any. They don't have any left.
- 47:20Speaker 4: I was shocked last night. Last night, I went and
- 47:24Speaker 4: looked to see the starters and stuff like that. Right, right.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Everything's TBA.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Oakland has more announced starters than the Rangers do the
- 47:32Speaker 4: rest of the year.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Yeah, they're... Quantrill's out to Grom.
- 47:37Speaker 4: I don't know if the Rangers can get to 500.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Well, I don't know that they can either. I mean,
- 47:42Speaker 1: they're shot. Then they put Jock Peterson there. Quantrill's been
- 47:46Speaker 1: their best pitcher in the last two months. He's done. Yeah.
- 47:50Speaker 1: You get the Mets' best guy tonight? Yeah, they've collapsed.
- 47:55Speaker 1: And that doesn't mean they can't. They got a good
- 48:01Speaker 1: starting pitching position. Start last night. Okay? They got five
- 48:07Speaker 1: solid innings. He would have left with the lead.
- 48:10Speaker 10: But?
- 48:11Speaker 1: They gave two runs away.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Only two? I thought you said this was the worst play.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Before. When he left.
- 48:18Speaker 6: Oh. Okay?
- 48:19Speaker 10: Okay.
- 48:20Speaker 1: In five innings, they gave two runs away.
- 48:22Speaker 4: So what was the score then? Four to two? Three
- 48:24Speaker 4: to two? Because you only scored three runs on three hits.
- 48:27Speaker 1: They were leading three to two.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Did they have all three hits at that point in time?
- 48:31Speaker 1: Ooh, they may have.
- 48:32Speaker 4: Because Rangers only had three hits.
- 48:34Speaker 15: I know.
- 48:34Speaker 4: Believe me. Not that I was scoreboard watching. No, they
- 48:41Speaker 4: brought in Nate Evaldi, and I'm going.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Hey, okay.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Wait, wait.
- 48:45Speaker 4: Nate Evaldi is a starting pitcher, Chip.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Not since he came back. They're still trying to work
- 48:50Speaker 1: him in because he came off the IL, right, with
- 48:53Speaker 1: arm issues.
- 48:54Speaker 4: It's too late to work somebody back in. I understand that.
- 48:57Speaker 1: And the announcers were surprised he came in last night.
- 49:00Speaker 1: They thought he might have been the Friday starter.
- 49:02Speaker 4: That might have been a good idea. Not the way
- 49:04Speaker 4: he pitched last night. Yeah, but Chip, he's starting.
- 49:07Speaker 1: They've got... They've got nobody, okay? So I know the
- 49:11Speaker 1: Astros have had a couple of bullpen games, including last night.
- 49:15Speaker 4: Well, no, no. It was not... Today was supposed to
- 49:20Speaker 4: be a bullpen day.
- 49:21Speaker 10: But?
- 49:22Speaker 4: But last night when Christian Javier came out in the
- 49:24Speaker 4: second inning with an injury. Oh, I didn't know he
- 49:27Speaker 4: came out with an injury. Yes.
- 49:28Speaker 1: I was so excited that he was starting last night.
- 49:31Speaker 10: Why?
- 49:31Speaker 1: Because he's been terrible.
- 49:34Speaker 10: Terrible.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Not for the Astros.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Was he 2-6? Something like that?
- 49:40Speaker 4: I'm saying for the Astros, Chip.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Sorry, I'm just looking.
- 49:48Speaker 4: But so the Astros have scheduled. Tonight they're going to
- 49:53Speaker 4: throw Ethan Petko, who was supposed to be their second
- 49:56Speaker 4: pitcher out, who's been due in five or six innings
- 50:00Speaker 4: after an opener. So he's been pretty decent. And then
- 50:05Speaker 4: Peter Lambert and then Wisniewski. And then after Wisniewski, they're
- 50:15Speaker 4: going to get Hunter Brown. Okay.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I hope it's the Hunter Brown we saw during his
- 50:23Speaker 1: last start.
- 50:24Speaker 4: The three best pitchers that the Astros can put out
- 50:29Speaker 4: are the ones that are going to pitch in three
- 50:32Speaker 4: of the next four games.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Well, I mean.
- 50:38Speaker 4: You mean his last start?
- 50:40Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 50:40Speaker 4: With five innings, three hits, two walks, and ten strikeouts? No,
- 50:43Speaker 4: maybe it was before that. He had one bad outing,
- 50:46Speaker 4: I know. I'm just asking.
- 50:48Speaker 1: I thought that was his last start was a bad one,
- 50:50Speaker 1: but obviously it wasn't.
- 50:52Speaker 4: Now, in his last four starts, he's gone 21 innings,
- 50:55Speaker 4: 34 strikeouts, seven walks, seven runs. So maybe it wasn't
- 51:00Speaker 4: Hunter Brown. No, it was Lambert is who it was.
- 51:03Speaker 6: Okay.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Anyway, it doesn't matter. But, yeah, the Rangers are out
- 51:07Speaker 1: of pitching. That doesn't mean they shouldn't catch the baseball
- 51:10Speaker 1: when it's hit to them.
- 51:11Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's hit to them so hard they can't
- 51:14Speaker 4: catch it.
- 51:14Speaker 5: No.
- 51:15Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no. And one of the runs
- 51:19Speaker 1: came when the very athletic first baseman, Jake Berger, backed
- 51:26Speaker 1: up on a pop foul out behind first base, turned
- 51:30Speaker 1: his back to first base. Forgot there was a runner
- 51:34Speaker 1: on third base, double clutched, and this guy who I
- 51:38Speaker 1: don't think could beat me from third to home scored.
- 51:42Speaker 1: That was just one of the runs they gave up.
- 51:44Speaker 4: I thought it was a double play hit to third base.
- 51:47Speaker 4: That was another one.
- 51:48Speaker 1: That was Josh Young, who double clutched and threw the
- 51:50Speaker 1: ball away. But they didn't advance that hitter. Should have
- 51:56Speaker 1: been a double play, so he doesn't get charged with
- 51:59Speaker 1: an error. What did the next guy do? They got
- 52:02Speaker 1: that run in.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Doubled home two.
- 52:04Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Yeah. And one was already on base because of fly
- 52:09Speaker 1: ball between right field and center field, which they've done
- 52:12Speaker 1: all year long. Alphonse and Gaston did and didn't give
- 52:16Speaker 1: them an error. And it was right in Brandon Nimmo's glove,
- 52:20Speaker 1: except that he was overrun and high load. It was
- 52:25Speaker 1: fortunate that there wasn't a collision, but they've already had
- 52:28Speaker 1: a couple this year. So it's just, I told another
- 52:33Speaker 1: Ranger fan today that this is, I've seen a lot
- 52:38Speaker 1: of bad baseball since 1972. I've seen teams that lost
- 52:43Speaker 1: a hundred plus games. Okay. This may be my least
- 52:47Speaker 1: favorite Rangers team in 54 years of watching this team play.
- 52:52Speaker 1: They have been difficult, impossible to watch all year long. Now,
- 53:00Speaker 1: They don't have a championship roster because they made the
- 53:03Speaker 1: decision beforehand they were going to dump the roster and
- 53:07Speaker 1: save money. It showed from the beginning.
- 53:10Speaker 4: And dump your manager.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Well, don't even get me started on that.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Why not? It matters. Of course it matters. Because he
- 53:17Speaker 4: would have won some games and they did not want
- 53:19Speaker 4: to win games. There's no doubt.
- 53:22Speaker 1: And right now, when they have so.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Many pitching issues. You'd be West champions this year with
- 53:30Speaker 4: him as manager.
- 53:31Speaker 1: I would love to have this guy in the dugout
- 53:33Speaker 1: right now trying to piece together a pitching staff.
- 53:36Speaker 4: You'd have been West champions, Chip.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Because nobody was better. So, yeah, there's lots of issues.
- 53:43Speaker 1: And it's been very difficult to watch. So, anyway, Rusty
- 53:50Speaker 1: got on me last night for being a Debbie Downer.
- 53:54Speaker 1: But then I got a text from him like an
- 53:56Speaker 1: inning later saying, never mind.
- 54:02Speaker 4: Anyway, I.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Will be happy if they can beat the Astros and
- 54:09Speaker 1: win the West.
- 54:11Speaker 10: Why?
- 54:12Speaker 1: Because they're beating the Astros. I don't expect them to
- 54:16Speaker 1: do anything or go anywhere.
- 54:17Speaker 4: Do you know what happened in my game last night? No,
- 54:19Speaker 4: I have no idea. I know they scored a lot
- 54:22Speaker 4: of runs early. Hang on a second here. They scored
- 54:25Speaker 4: a run in the first.
- 54:27Speaker 1: And three in the third.
- 54:28Speaker 4: Pena stole second after an infield hit. So instead of
- 54:32Speaker 4: walking Alvarez, he drove him home. Okay?
- 54:37Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 54:37Speaker 4: So it's one to nothing Astros.
- 54:39Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 4: They load the bases on the next two batters and
- 54:43Speaker 4: don't get any more. And then in the second inning,
- 54:47Speaker 4: they had runners.
- 54:48Speaker 1: If you're going to go into details about how your
- 54:51Speaker 1: team left men on base, I don't want to hear it.
- 54:53Speaker 5: Why?
- 54:54Speaker 1: You didn't even have men.
- 54:56Speaker 10: Oh, no.
- 54:56Speaker 1: They had base runners.
- 54:57Speaker 4: No, they didn't. You had three hits.
- 54:59Speaker 1: They had base runners because of walks.
- 55:02Speaker 10: Walks?
- 55:03Speaker 4: And hit two batters. The Mets?
- 55:06Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 55:07Speaker 1: They had base runners all night long.
- 55:08Speaker 4: This is the Mets you're talking about.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Corey Seager was within... Was almost a golden sombrero.
- 55:15Speaker 4: He had people on his strikeout? Yes, he did. Four
- 55:19Speaker 4: of them in two of the three strikeouts.
- 55:23Speaker 5: So.
- 55:25Speaker 4: Since.
- 55:26Speaker 1: I'm just. We got to take a break. No, no.
- 55:28Speaker 4: We're going to come back and talk football. I can't
- 55:31Speaker 4: do it anymore.
- 55:31Speaker 15: Yes, you can.
- 55:32Speaker 1: No, I cannot. I just can't stand it anymore. David
- 55:36Speaker 1: Gardner is having the Wheels, Watches, and Whiskey event. This
- 55:41Speaker 1: may be the second or third or fourth year. Time flies.
- 55:45Speaker 1: But special raffle presented by David Gardner. He's giving a
- 55:51Speaker 1: watch away at this event. You go online. All the
- 55:57Speaker 1: proceeds go to OnRamp. It's at the Stella Hotel on
- 56:01Speaker 1: Friday night. And they are honoring 100. Is that the
- 56:06Speaker 1: watch he's giving away?
- 56:07Speaker 4: Well, look at all these watches. Good gosh.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Look at all those watches. That's amazing. It's a pretty
- 56:12Speaker 1: cool event, honestly. And all the proceeds go to OnRamp.
- 56:16Speaker 1: And he and Julia are celebrating the 150th anniversary of
- 56:20Speaker 1: a nearby university. with a limited collection of rings, pendants, necklaces,
- 56:30Speaker 1: including this legacy dog tag with the A & M,
- 56:35Speaker 1: a lot like the loved pendant that has been so
- 56:38Speaker 1: wildly popular for David. If you haven't been in to
- 56:42Speaker 1: see the new place yet, go in and do that
- 56:45Speaker 1: as well. There's only one. It's David Gardner's Jewelers 911 University.
