- 0:00Hey everyone, have you ever thought about creating something and then thought,
- 0:04gosh, I don't know where to start or I don't know if anybody will want it?
- 0:08If so, today's episode is for you.
- 0:11I'm Kimberly Boyd, Founder of Live Life Fully,
- 0:14and I have with me today the amazing Shuntá Montgomery,
- 0:18Certified Live Life Fully Coach Good morning!
- 0:21Yay, good morning, good morning,
- 0:23how are you?
- 0:25Doing great. Glad to be here with you today.
- 0:28I'm so curious, first of all, before we even get started here,
- 0:31what are you most excited about in life right now?
- 0:34What am I most excited about? ~
- 0:37Yeah.
- 0:38so many things to finally
- 0:40Be at a place of internal joy,
- 0:44not necessarily focusing on outward joy,
- 0:47just enjoying myself and the space that I've created for me.
- 0:52I love that. Internal joy. I'm writing that down.
- 0:55Speaking of joy, have you ever seen the movie Joyful Noise?
- 0:58I have, I believe. It reminds me
- 1:01With Sally.
- 1:01of Sister A. Okay, probably not then.
- 1:04I'm thinking of Sister A.
- 1:06Okay. Yeah. It came out I don't know however many years ago,
- 1:09but of course my hero, Dolly Parton ~
- 1:11think so. She
- 1:12she's in a church, right? Singing?
- 1:14Yes, it's so good. Yeah. I think I went three
- 1:17I think I've seen it.
- 1:18in a row. I couldn't get enough.
- 1:19You want to go
- 1:20see it three three times in a row?
- 1:22Yes.
- 1:22Yeah, ~ yeah. we have ~ lost the gems
- 1:26Yes, we have. We have for sure.
- 1:29So but go see Joyful Noise or pull it up and watch it somehow.
- 1:33I don't even know where to watch it now.
- 1:34I love the fact that you
- 1:35We'll figure it out.
- 1:36brought up internal joy. I've I think that well,
- 1:40part of finding internal joy and thinking about wanting to start something,
- 1:45not sure if it's the right thing,
- 1:47not sure if anybody's gonna want it.
- 1:49And so
- 1:50I think those two things go together,
- 1:51really. And I wanted to talk with you and for you to share with us,
- 1:55because I know you created this digital planner,
- 1:58which is phenomenal. And if you want to,
- 2:01if you will, walk us through like how did you come up with that idea?
- 2:04What struck you, like what made it important to you to have a digital planner,
- 2:08to create the digital planner,
- 2:10and then to have it out there.
- 2:12Tell us about it.
- 2:13Well, for me digital because I always lose my paper.
- 2:19Or if not lose it, it's not where I need it when I need it.
- 2:23And so I do still carry both the digital and paper.
- 2:27However, whenever I can't find my paper or ~ it's not available,
- 2:32I always have my digital as a backup.
- 2:34~
- 2:35So I love it.
- 2:36Okay, so tell us about the digital planner.
- 2:38Like what are some key features at this digital planner that you've created?
- 2:42Because I mean it's for sale. People can buy it.
- 2:45So what are some key features about
- 2:46Yeah.
- 2:47it that make it unique?
- 2:49Well, another thing that I like about the digital planner is it's a all-in-one.
- 2:54And that was important to me because a lot of times you'll get a planner,
- 2:58you'll get a budget planner, then you'll have meal planner,
- 3:02you maybe have like your thoughts and goals,
- 3:05then they have a book planner,
- 3:07and this digital planner has all of that.
- 3:10And it has hyperlinks so you don't have to like do a lot of scrolling.
- 3:15You can go back to the home screen,
- 3:17click on a hyperlink, and it'll take you directly to your meal planning,
- 3:20or it'll take you directly to your budget planner.
- 3:23And ~ yeah, so I love that. And you can add as many pages as you need.
- 3:28So it's something that is customizable according to you,
- 3:32where you can add pages if you need more for budget,
- 3:35or you can ~
- 3:37use the ones that's there. You could take away or just ignore a page
- 3:40if you don't need it. You're not a budget planner.
- 3:42You use QuickBooks or something.
- 3:44So I love that about it.
- 3:46Okay, so customizable to the person.
- 3:49So if I decided to buy this planner,
- 3:51I would have all these options that you've created to include in my planner.
- 3:56So if I said, well, what's important to me in an all-in-one is a daily prompt
- 4:00for journaling, my schedule, meal prepping or planning for the week,
- 4:04and a grocery list. Then I would be able to like pull those pages
- 4:09and put them together and have my planner,
- 4:10and then there it is.
- 4:12Yes, and then you would duplicate that for each month.
- 4:14my gosh. Yeah, that's incredible.
- 4:16So how has it helped you? Like have you always been a planner
- 4:16It is. It's amazing. I'm sorry,
- 4:20what was that?
- 4:21have you always been a planner kind of girl or a calendar kind of girl?
- 4:25Yes and no. I've always
- 4:26Yeah.
- 4:28tried to have a planner because it's a great idea to know things.
- 4:33and the no part is I lose it, I don't stick to it,
- 4:37~ I can't find it, or it's not like when I'm doing my planning,
- 4:41it's not available. So yeah, I think the digital part made it more reliable for me.
- 4:48So like
- 4:49If I don't have my paper, I still love my paper just because I like
- 4:52to write things down and I can always see it.
- 4:55But my digital is my backup when I'm not with my paper copy.
- 4:59Yeah, I love that. So,
- 5:01I also ~ keep both and 'cause you're right,
- 5:06it's so helpful and I don't always want to carry around my big planner.
- 5:10So I did run into a problem one time and I'm wondering if you ever well,
- 5:13I'd have been one more than one time,
- 5:15actually. I had not updated my digital planner to match my paper planner.
- 5:20And of course I double booked myself.
- 5:23So has that ever happened to you?
- 5:25Yes.
- 5:26good.
- 5:26I was like, just make you feel better.
- 5:28okay, good. Because so what I've changed after that happened,
- 5:33maybe more than once, I was like,
- 5:34what in the world am I gonna do?
- 5:36And so and I'd love to hear what you do,
- 5:39how you've remedied that. For me,
- 5:41I plan and prepare on Sundays.
- 5:43And so I'll make sure everything matches on Sundays so that I am in sync
- 5:49and won't double book.
- 5:50What have you done to remedy that?
- 5:52Have so I have a work planner schedule thing of my jig.
- 5:56And that work planner gets everything.
- 5:59It's synced
- 5:59Mm-hmm.
- 6:00to all emails. And so any event that comes up,
- 6:04it's synced to that. And so that's my go-to that I check,
- 6:08and that's what I check for my digital planner and my paper planner
- 6:12to ensure that everything is equal and
- 6:15Mm-hmm.
- 6:15both.
- 6:16In the same place.
- 6:17Awesome. Okay, so do you pick a day of the week that you do that or
- 6:20it just happens automatically for you?
- 6:22I'm loving the automatic. ~ not sure how long that would take me to figure out.
- 6:25yes.
- 6:26Okay, so it's automatic. That's great.
- 6:28yes, you sync your calendars to now not to my planner,
- 6:32it's not there yet. I'm working on that where you'll be able to actually sync your
- 6:36calendar and it'll just pull from your calendar.
- 6:38but the digital planner that I have created is not there and
- 6:42the digital planner I've created is not there yet.
- 6:44However, ~ that's why I like the work scheduler because I've synced my personal,
- 6:50my work and my ~
- 6:52my coaching planner, they all go to that schedule and they
- 6:57Beautiful.
- 6:58all post things that I'm doing.
- 7:00And they
- 7:00Okay.
- 7:01they literally would not allow you to double book.
- 7:04You you literally have to click on ignore and double book.
- 7:07So I love that.
- 7:10Okay.
- 7:11So the planner that you've created,
- 7:13it really is about keeping your life in check,
- 7:15keeping your life in sync, deciding what is important to you to track
- 7:20or to journal about or to schedule.
- 7:23And then
- 7:24you could also
- 7:24~ yes.
- 7:25take your work calendar, although your work calendar doesn't sync with this planner
- 7:29you've created yet, I'm assuming you could plug it in on your own manually.
- 7:35Yes.
- 7:35Absolutely.
- 7:35Beautiful.
- 7:36Absolutely. And it's easier 'cause it's electronic and so it just
- 7:40can seamlessly move over. You can customize it
- 7:43Good. So
- 7:45where you can add your own pictures and ~ things like that.
- 7:49So it's really a fun calendar.
- 7:51You don't have to buy the stickers.
- 7:53You don't have to buy They come with it.
- 7:54Yeah. Well you you gotta go get You gotta go to like
- 7:57Pinterest and things and go get But yeah,
- 7:59you can add stickers and customize it.
- 8:01So cool. Okay, and I know that it is available on the website,
- 8:05like in the shop for LLFully.com which I'm super excited about.
- 8:09And thinking about planners. So I want to shift a little bit
- 8:12and thinking about planners and what you find to be important in terms of planners.
- 8:18And I guess specifically what I'm wondering is we talk about work schedules,
- 8:22and of course, we put all of the stuff for work on our schedule and we have
- 8:26it and we know and
- 8:27So we don't forget, and what about fun?
- 8:30Like fun activities or relationships.
- 8:33Yeah. so I definitely put my fun activities on my calendar.
- 8:38I put fun activities with friends,
- 8:41with family, so much so to where I have set a repeating schedule
- 8:46for my so the f the most famous one because it's the first one that I
- 8:51did was Tay Day. And Tay Day is my day that I have with my daughter.
- 8:55~ and every four so I use her birth date which is the fourteenth
- 9:00and so every fourteenth of the month I have said that's Tay Day and so
- 9:05we may not get that exact date every month because it may fall on
- 9:10a Wednesday and we're busy or something,
- 9:12but either before or after we're gonna connect and we're gonna do something.
- 9:16Well I've taken it a step further and so I have a Tay Day,
- 9:21I have a twins day
- 9:23I have a D Day, which is Devon.
- 9:25So that's the fourth of the month.
- 9:27And then my husband has a day.
- 9:29So aside from our date nights or aside from my time that we have together,
- 9:33because those may or may not happen,
- 9:36but I wanted to be intentional and make sure that at least once a month
- 9:39I was intentional with spending time with these people.
- 9:42Now more time could be spent with them,
- 9:45but I wanted to ensure that these
- 9:47~ this specific once a month was my intention that I said.
- 9:51And so I I believe it was Brendon Burchard that said if it's not
- 9:55on your calendar then it must don't matter to you.
- 9:58And so I started putting people on my calendar that I think that I want
- 10:02to be intentional with spending time with.
- 10:04So yes.
- 10:06And I love that
- 10:07that you've planned it. Like you know the fourteenth of every month is gonna
- 10:11be a dedicated day or at least a block of time for of that day with Tay,
- 10:15like with your daughter. And then the fourth,
- 10:17like I love that you know that in advance because wow,
- 10:20you can schedule around that, like you're deciding in advance what's important
- 10:25to you.
- 10:26Yes, absolutely. I have my ~ my my hair appointments,
- 10:31my nail appointments, my massage appointments,
- 10:33I have spending time with friends appointments.
- 10:36so yeah, today is a big deal. I mean,
- 10:38planning these important dates are a big deal,
- 10:41whether it be with family or with myself,
- 10:44because I believe that planning time to spend one myself is just as important.
- 10:48And so I put myself in my calendar.
- 10:50Okay, tell us more about that,
- 10:51like planning time with yourself,
- 10:53that it's important. Tell us more about that.
- 10:55I'd love to hear more.
- 10:57~ so I'm intentional with my time when I plan for myself.
- 11:00So whether it be getting my hair done,
- 11:03most of the time when I'm getting my hair done,
- 11:05I if I know that I'm gonna be under the dryer,
- 11:08I'll take a book because I wanna read,
- 11:10getting my nails on. Not too much you can do with getting your nails done.
- 11:13However, I'm
- 11:14Yeah.
- 11:15I'm I'm intentional with those times and like those are like you know,
- 11:19I set those up and I want to have those times for myself.
- 11:23I haven't got
- 11:24I haven't gotten to the point where I just been I ~ added quiet time
- 11:29on the calendar. Actually I have.
- 11:31I have I haven't done it which I need to get better at doing,
- 11:34but I have a five o'clock alarm that goes off and that's for me to spend time with
- 11:39myself and to journal. And ~ I wanna get into
- 11:43a stretching routine because you know you're getting older so you need
- 11:48to take care of your body and then
- 11:50spending time with God. Like I w I wanna be purposeful in that and
- 11:53so that's gonna be part of my journal time and my morning routine time.
- 11:58Okay, I love that you have this five is I'm assuming five PM or five AM?
- 12:03Five PM?
- 12:04That was actually five AM. ~ I probably need to bring
- 12:06Just kidding.
- 12:07it down to like five thirty. Like na naturally I'll roll lower at five,
- 12:12but I can get out of the bed naturally at five thirty.
- 12:15Okay. So I love that you have the alarm like this quiet time,
- 12:19time with yourself, time with the Lord,
- 12:21and at five thirty. So yes, you have it on the alarm and then going back
- 12:25to the whole digital planner or the work,
- 12:28because it could be considered like part of your work.
- 12:30It's gonna prepare you for the day.
- 12:32~
- 12:32Mm-hmm.
- 12:33is it on that? Like do you have it written down?
- 12:36You know, I don't have it on that and I don't have it written down.
- 12:39That that's what it is. It's just it's on my calendar on my phone and
- 12:45it goes off and it pops up that it's a journal time.
- 12:48Yes. So I don't know, and that's part of what I love about coaching
- 12:51is working with somebody and hearing something that they want to do
- 12:54and coming up with something that maybe they've thought about and haven't done
- 12:57it or have never thought about it before.
- 12:59I say that because when working with my coach,
- 13:02I'll have a lot of alarms on my phone.
- 13:04Like alarms to remind me. The important ones are the ones that I have
- 13:08on my actual calendar. Cause the alarms
- 13:10Yeah.
- 13:11are great. Help me remember.
- 13:13But I and I do better when I have it on my calendar.
- 13:16So I don't know, maybe that'll
- 13:17Yeah.
- 13:18work.
- 13:18Yeah, so I d ~ definitely ~ will write it on my calendar so that it could
- 13:24be much more of a ~ a remi a a reminder and a task that I do accomplish.
- 13:29~ I know I had like a seven thirty alarm to do duolingual,
- 13:35but I've and I've steered away from that because I wasn't learning from that.
- 13:39~
- 13:39Wow.
- 13:39I
- 13:39think I know more than duolingo.
- 13:41So I'm like, I'm over that. I gotta find another Spanish ~ program.
- 13:46So if there's one out there, please let me know.
- 13:49~ however, I've been challenged
- 13:50Okay. Yeah. Put it in the chat.
- 13:54yes. I've been challenged by my business coach to post a fortune cookie every
- 14:00morning. And I have been doing it,
- 14:02I've been I've posted
- 14:04Consistently every day since I was challenged,
- 14:07I would like to post it more in the morning versus ~ it's eight o'clock
- 14:14at night and I'm remembering to post it or it's noon,
- 14:17I got some free time, let me post it.
- 14:19and actually I am going to work on where I can actually put it on my schedule to do
- 14:25a week to two weeks out and then schedule that and then I don't have
- 14:29to post every morning. But what I can do every morning for that time is come
- 14:34up with some more and put those on the schedule so I have a recurring schedule.
- 14:38I love that idea. Like front loading yourself and having a bank to pull from.
- 14:42Yes. Yes.
- 14:44I love that.
- 14:45Yes.
- 14:46Yeah, that's great. You're gonna become a scheduling queen.
- 14:50Yes. I love it. Like it it just seems like s it runs smoother when
- 14:57you know what you're doing and where you're going.
- 14:59I didn't always used to be like this.
- 15:01I used to, let's go here, let's go there and that was me and I would go
- 15:06and then my work wouldn't get done or you know,
- 15:09I was living my life according to other people's schedule and
- 15:13They didn't plan, so I didn't plan and it was like,
- 15:16Ugh, we just, you know, flying by the seat of our pants,
- 15:20essentially. And now I like it like,
- 15:23~ I was talking to my husband the other day and I we were going over
- 15:27the schedule actually 'cause he wants to be in sync with my schedule.
- 15:31And so he wants to know when to take off,
- 15:33when not to take off. And so,
- 15:35I was I was giving him the I was like October third is our retreat and this
- 15:39and that and I was telling him,
- 15:41you know, all the dates in October,
- 15:43all the dates in November, all the dates in December.
- 15:44Okay.
- 15:45And then I was like, I have 2027 retreat scheduled,
- 15:49if you want that as well. He was like,
- 15:51You got twenty twenty seven? I was like,
- 15:54Yeah, he's like, I'm good. We live we we're up to December,
- 15:57we're good.
- 15:57Yes. I was thinking when you started talking about October,
- 16:00I was like, Yeah, you better say Damien,
- 16:02buckle up, buddy. It's gonna be a quick wrap.
- 16:05We have a lot of events up.
- 16:06~ exactly.
- 16:08I was like, we are busy and I I was able to tell my daughter that,
- 16:13you know? And so she was like,
- 16:14Every weekend, Mom and she was like,
- 16:16Halloween I was like, Nope, we don't have Halloween.
- 16:19And so she was like, Okay, so can I get on your schedule for Halloween?
- 16:23my gosh, so the message is if you want to have a weekend with Shuntá,
- 16:27you better call today.
- 16:29Yes,
- 16:29No.
- 16:30and I love that.
- 16:31me too. I think it is so important.
- 16:33I have a a friend. she used to always say,
- 16:35Kimberly, you work so hard. And I'm like,
- 16:38Yeah. And she's like, and you play hard too.
- 16:41And I'm like, Yeah. I think it's so important
- 16:43Exactly.
- 16:44to work and play hard. I do.
- 16:47~
- 16:48And to schedule
- 16:49that play.
- 16:50Yes. Yeah, and a heads up, tell Damian Yes,
- 16:53twenty twenty seven is planned for the big events and we're about
- 16:58to start planning twenty twenty eight.
- 17:00Yes.
- 17:01Mm.
- 17:01And more events in twenty twenty seven.
- 17:04Yeah, more are gonna be posted,
- 17:05yes. Which is so exciting. ~
- 17:08Yes.
- 17:08have you found okay, so thinking about scheduling and living by a calendar
- 17:13or living by the clock, you know,
- 17:15I've been I've coached people who have given me pushback on that.
- 17:18They're like, you know, I don't wanna live by a calendar.
- 17:21I don't wanna live by a schedule and be so regimented and so routine.
- 17:25And I'm like, yeah, I hear you.
- 17:27I and
- 17:28but what I do love is how when they put these little pieces on their calendar,
- 17:34such as journaling. They want to journal,
- 17:36they talk about that. Like I want to journal,
- 17:38eventually I want to write a book one day.
- 17:40Okay, fantastic. What time is gonna work best for you?
- 17:43Like you know your schedule, so that you gotta think about like what time
- 17:47is the best time of day for me to sit down and journal,
- 17:50or for me to sit down and write a book,
- 17:52or
- 17:52So color a picture, whatever it is.
- 17:54Think about what it is. So putting those little pieces and then fast forward several
- 18:00weeks and they're like, okay, so here's what I've got to do,
- 18:03and I've got to go to the grocery store.
- 18:04So I'm gonna go to the grocery and they start planning.
- 18:06It's like this natural thing that has started happening through the coaching.
- 18:09And I'm like, Yes. And for me,
- 18:11I don't think it's living by that calendar and being so regimented
- 18:16and not being able to enjoy.
- 18:17I don't know about you, Shuntá,
- 18:18but for me, I'm like, it brings so much more freedom to my life to know these
- 18:25are the commitments I've made to myself,
- 18:27these are the commitments I've made to others,
- 18:30and here's all this space that I can do or be or whatever.
- 18:35What about you?
- 18:36Yeah.
- 18:37Yes. Excuse me. I love that. I I too was not a fan of scheduling
- 18:41and planning and all that jazz.
- 18:43however I love it because I tend to hold myself to be more accountable
- 18:50to being where I say I'm going to be when I say
- 18:52Hmm.
- 18:53I'm gonna be it. And I think that that has helped me with friendships and
- 18:58you know, relationships and businesses because I'm able to say I can do this,
- 19:03I can't do that. And so, you know,
- 19:05having a volunteer hat, having friends,
- 19:08having family, trying to, you know,
- 19:11start a business and do all these things,
