- 0:03Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hey, I do part two. It's Bachelor Nation alum Joan
- 0:25Speaker 2: Bassos and Kathy Swartz. We are back to bring you
- 0:28Speaker 2: the latest headlines in chapter two. We've got a little
- 0:31Speaker 2: bit of everything today from honoring a past partner to
- 0:35Speaker 2: true crime and some celebrity dating news, of course. So, Kathy,
- 0:39Speaker 2: I am excited about this episode. There's some really interesting
- 0:42Speaker 2: stuff in here. Let's get right to it. What do
- 0:44Speaker 2: you think?
- 0:44Speaker 1: I think we should. We got all kinds of divorce
- 0:47Speaker 1: stories and then some. So get to it. Let's go.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Okay. Well, I love doing this story because I was
- 0:52Speaker 2: actually with Whitney Rose recently. So Whitney Rose is officially
- 0:57Speaker 2: ending her marriage to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake
- 0:59Speaker 2: City star filed for divorce from her husband, Justin Rose
- 1:03Speaker 2: in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, October 6th. Just happened
- 1:07Speaker 2: after nearly 17 years of marriage. People confirms. They tied
- 1:11Speaker 2: the knot in 2009. Whitney, 40, also filed a parenting
- 1:15Speaker 2: plan for her two kids, son Brooks, 13, and daughter Bobby, 16.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Page Six was the first to report the news. A
- 1:22Speaker 2: rep for Whitney did not immediately respond to people's requests
- 1:25Speaker 2: for comment. So I'm thinking, gosh, I remember when the
- 1:28Speaker 2: story started and their kids were little, little, little. So
- 1:31Speaker 2: they're growing up. The divorce filing comes three months after
- 1:35Speaker 2: a source close to the couple told people that the
- 1:37Speaker 2: pair were living separately. They have been living separate lives
- 1:40Speaker 2: for a while now and rarely see each other, the
- 1:43Speaker 2: source said in July. There wasn't one dramatic moment. It
- 1:45Speaker 2: was a gradual breakdown after years of trying to make
- 1:48Speaker 2: things work, said the source. One contributing factor was financial strain.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And like, I feel like I need to talk about this,
- 1:55Speaker 2: the insider said, which took a major toll on them.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Their financial struggles were documented in recent seasons of Real
- 2:01Speaker 2: Housewives of Salt Lake City, and their recent relationship troubles
- 2:05Speaker 2: are currently playing out on season seven of the Bravo
- 2:09Speaker 2: reality show. The source also said that at the time
- 2:12Speaker 2: that the couple's priority was their kids. They're trying to
- 2:14Speaker 2: handle this with as much respect as possible. Their children
- 2:17Speaker 2: remain their biggest priority, and they're committed to keeping things
- 2:20Speaker 2: as peaceful as they can. Along with Brooks and Bobby,
- 2:23Speaker 2: Whitney was stepmom to Justin's three sons from a previous marriage, Austin, Trey,
- 2:28Speaker 2: and Christopher. You know, it's funny that... They're talking about
- 2:31Speaker 2: those three kids because Whitney and I talked a lot
- 2:34Speaker 2: about her being a stepmom to kids who are in
- 2:37Speaker 2: their 30s and she's only 40. Right. Like what a
- 2:41Speaker 2: weird dynamic kind of in that household with those kids,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you know?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. I think one of the stranger
- 2:49Speaker 1: things is that they're saying they want to keep things
- 2:53Speaker 1: great for the kids, their priorities, the kids. And yet
- 2:56Speaker 1: they say they haven't seen each other in a very
- 2:58Speaker 1: long time. So how is that normal for kids when
- 3:03Speaker 1: you don't see each other? Even what, on the changeover,
- 3:05Speaker 1: they throw the kids to the curb? I mean, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I feel like that's really weird. And the kids are
- 3:10Speaker 2: certainly going to notice. I mean, they're teenagers. Their parents
- 3:12Speaker 2: aren't together. So as normal as that can be, I
- 3:15Speaker 2: don't think it's that normal. But, you know, I do
- 3:18Speaker 2: remember even in college. Earlier episodes of Real Housewives of
- 3:22Speaker 2: Salt Lake City, maybe from a couple years back, there
- 3:25Speaker 2: was a whole chunk of episodes that.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Talked about.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Her starting a business called Wild Rose.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And he was funding it. I remember that he had
- 3:40Speaker 2: the idea to make this an MLM. And she... was
- 3:46Speaker 2: not really great about that, but she followed him into this.
- 3:49Speaker 2: And that is eventually, I think, what took the business down.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Well, first of all, should people go into business together?
- 3:55Speaker 1: That's the first issue because now we have a situation
- 3:58Speaker 1: where the business has failed, the marriage has failed. My
- 4:02Speaker 1: husband and I had an LLC, Limited Liability Corporation. But
- 4:07Speaker 1: the difference was we each had our own businesses under
- 4:10Speaker 1: the umbrella of that. I cannot imagine... what it would
- 4:14Speaker 1: be like to have a business, in this case, it failed.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But can you imagine sharing a business and then you
- 4:21Speaker 1: get divorced and you're trying to put the kids first?
- 4:23Speaker 1: I mean, it sounds like a nightmare to me.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I also think it's a hard business to be in.
- 4:27Speaker 2: There are so many makeup brands out there now. I mean,
- 4:30Speaker 2: you probably get as many packages in the mail on
- 4:33Speaker 2: your doorstep. I mean, weekly with a different face cream
- 4:37Speaker 2: and a different mascara. And I think it's a hard
- 4:39Speaker 2: business to be in. And she was also like, the
- 4:42Speaker 2: kids were little when she was starting this. I remember
- 4:44Speaker 2: when this show first started, her kids were little, teeny, like,
- 4:46Speaker 2: you know, like in little ballet tutus and just little ones. So.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I think, I do think that, I mean, they say
- 4:53Speaker 1: financial strain is one of the biggest things that breaks
- 4:55Speaker 1: up marriages. I've read that many times. So You know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: that's that's unfortunate, but still wishing them best and all
- 5:01Speaker 1: the kids. You know, I hope it comes out OK
- 5:04Speaker 1: for the kids because they didn't ask for this. OK,
- 5:07Speaker 1: let's move on. Our next story is Kyle Cook gives
- 5:12Speaker 1: his latest divorce update and it might shock some Summer
- 5:15Speaker 1: House fans. Nine months after the Summer House star and
- 5:19Speaker 1: his wife of four years, Amanda Batula, announced their breakup.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Kyle addressed the real reason he and his ex still
- 5:26Speaker 1: haven't officially filed for divorce. He said, it's been a
- 5:30Speaker 1: little slow going. She was busy and I was busy,
- 5:32Speaker 1: the DJ told E! News in an exclusive interview during
- 5:37Speaker 1: Page Six's Virtual Reality Tea Awards 2026 at New York
- 5:41Speaker 1: City's Edison Ballroom on September 6th. Quote, we're still working
- 5:46Speaker 1: on the details of that. And even though Amanda, 35,
- 5:50Speaker 1: moved on some time ago with their former co-star, Wes Wilson,
- 5:54Speaker 1: Kyle isn't rushing to become legally single again. And he says,
- 5:59Speaker 1: it's never fun to have those formal talks. And maybe
- 6:01Speaker 1: there's the side of us that put it off a
- 6:04Speaker 1: little bit, the 44-year-old confessed. But yeah, we will eventually
- 6:07Speaker 1: make it formal and sign on the dotted line. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: don't know about you, Joan, but I find that a
- 6:13Speaker 1: little strange. Are you in or are you out? And
- 6:17Speaker 1: if you're out, why aren't you out?
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I just find that a little strange. What do you think?
- 6:24Speaker 2: I totally agree with you, especially since they're, you know,
- 6:26Speaker 2: they're living in a very public way. I mean, they're
- 6:28Speaker 2: on summer house.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:29Speaker 2: So yeah, everybody knows it's happening and that they just like,
- 6:32Speaker 2: it just sounds like he's saying, Oh, we got a
- 6:34Speaker 2: little lazy. We don't really, we just never got around
- 6:37Speaker 2: to it. I mean, that's kind of like, come on, being,
- 6:38Speaker 2: being adult.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Or Joe, it's giving prenup vibes and there's going to
- 6:42Speaker 1: be a big argument about money and let's, you know, let's.
- 6:44Speaker 2: There was pre like, so a lack of prenup, maybe, um,
- 6:48Speaker 2: I agree with you that they don't, he said like,
- 6:50Speaker 2: that's a hard conversation to have. So I totally agree
- 6:52Speaker 2: with that, but come on, let's, Let's be adults.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Okay, so he went on to say, the logistics aside,
- 6:58Speaker 1: Kyle entered this year's Hamptons share house feeling totally single
- 7:03Speaker 1: and ready to mingle while filming season 11. He said,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I carried a lot of stress these last many years.
- 7:09Speaker 1: The bra-velebrity reflected to E. It truly felt like a
- 7:13Speaker 1: weight had been lifted and I could let my hair down. Well,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I don't have a mullet anymore, but I could just
- 7:19Speaker 1: be myself again. and not have to apologize for everything.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I had a lot of fun, the lover boy founder added.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I feel like we returned to the roots of the
- 7:28Speaker 1: show to some extent. Everybody entered single, which is a first.
- 7:32Speaker 1: So it's no shocker that Kyle fully embraced his hot
- 7:35Speaker 1: boy summer these past few months. Everybody keeps telling me
- 7:39Speaker 1: this is exactly what I should be doing, he said.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I feel so fortunate to be traveling and filming and
- 7:45Speaker 1: everything in between. As for his co-stars, Lindsay Hubbard echoed
- 7:48Speaker 1: Kyle's sentiments about the upcoming fun-filled season. She said it
- 7:52Speaker 1: makes for a great TV show when there's lots of
- 7:55Speaker 1: singles in the house every weekend. Lindsay did tell me
- 7:58Speaker 1: before cheekily adding of her longtime BFF. Kyle is a
- 8:02Speaker 1: great wingman. I mean, OK.
- 8:05Speaker 2: So I was at that award ceremony and he got
- 8:09Speaker 2: the award for there was like like new hottest guy.
- 8:13Speaker 2: And they showed a lot of pictures of him shirtless.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I think he's like in his Playboy era and he's
- 8:18Speaker 2: embracing it. And like he I think he thinks everybody
- 8:21Speaker 2: knows he's single. And so like actually filing for the
- 8:23Speaker 2: divorce is not like a big deal because it's kind
- 8:25Speaker 2: of well known.
- 8:26Speaker 1: OK, well, I I'm going to argue that it is
- 8:30Speaker 1: a big deal. for the next woman he finds. But
- 8:34Speaker 1: either way, if you're single, you're single. And if you're not,
- 8:37Speaker 1: you're not. And you can be in your hot boy
- 8:40Speaker 1: summer era, but at some point you got to sign
- 8:43Speaker 1: on the dotted line. And I guess, you know, you
- 8:45Speaker 1: don't hear her saying anything either, by the way, that
- 8:48Speaker 1: she's desperate. So I'm going to say it all boils
- 8:51Speaker 1: down to money and why, why, Push into it until
- 8:55Speaker 1: somebody has a reason to want to get out.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I think that you and I know people that have
- 9:01Speaker 2: not filed for divorce because it just wasn't convenient or
- 9:05Speaker 2: there was a money issue and they just didn't want
- 9:07Speaker 2: to address it. And they didn't really need to do
- 9:11Speaker 2: it until something major happened.
- 9:12Speaker 1: In their life. Yeah, that's what I just said. So
- 9:14Speaker 1: something major is going to happen. And, you know, unfortunately,
- 9:17Speaker 1: it's all going to play out in the news. So
- 9:19Speaker 1: we're going to keep tabs on it. And we'll see
- 9:21Speaker 1: when they actually do file for divorce.
- 9:23Speaker 2: When this happens. Yeah, maybe they're saving it to, like,
- 9:26Speaker 2: maybe some good filming.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Or maybe they're hiding money in the Bahamas. Who knows?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Well, I think maybe they're saving it for TV. That's
- 9:33Speaker 2: my new thought on this.
- 9:34Speaker 1: All right.
- 9:35Speaker 2: That makes good TV. Okay, let's move on because this
- 9:47Speaker 2: is a really sweet thing. And I really love reading this.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Terry Irwin is paying tribute to her late husband, Steve Irwin,
- 9:55Speaker 2: 35 years after they met. In an Instagram post on Tuesday,
- 10:00Speaker 2: October 6th, Terry, 62, shared a throwback photo of the
- 10:04Speaker 2: two looking at a snake. It was 35 years ago
- 10:07Speaker 2: today that I met the most incredible man at a
- 10:09Speaker 2: tiny roadside wildlife park in Queensland, Australia. She began in
- 10:14Speaker 2: the caption, this chance meeting would change my life forever.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I always felt that Steve and I were more than soulmates,
- 10:19Speaker 2: she continued. Our life's purpose was even bigger. I am
- 10:23Speaker 2: truly blessed to live a life so full of love, family,
- 10:27Speaker 2: and adventure. Steve and Terry met when she visited the
- 10:30Speaker 2: wildlife park his parents founded, then known as Queensland Reptile
- 10:35Speaker 2: and Fauna Park, according to the Australia Zoo. Steve took
- 10:39Speaker 2: over managing the park on October 4th, 1991, and he
- 10:42Speaker 2: met Terry two days later on October 6th. Sounds like
- 10:45Speaker 2: fate to me, right?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:48Speaker 2: He and Terry married in 1992 and welcomed daughter Bindi Irwin,
- 10:51Speaker 2: who we all know from Dancing with the Stars and
- 10:53Speaker 2: also on TV. in 1998 and son Robert Irwin in 2003.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Steve died on September 4th, 2006. I think we all
- 11:02Speaker 2: remember this day at the age of 44 when he
- 11:04Speaker 2: was stung by a stingray in an unprovoked attack while
- 11:07Speaker 2: filming a documentary off the coast of Australia. I have
- 11:10Speaker 2: to ask you, Kathy, because I don't remember the day
- 11:14Speaker 2: I met my late husband and I feel really bad
- 11:16Speaker 2: about that. I've actually met him a couple times throughout
- 11:18Speaker 2: our history of dating. Do you remember the.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Day that you're- I remember- Exactly. It was the first
- 11:26Speaker 1: week of September. I was a freshman in college. He
- 11:30Speaker 1: was a senior. We were at a fraternity party, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: he was the president of the fraternity, and I was
- 11:37Speaker 1: just in awe of all these good-looking guys. I remember
- 11:42Speaker 1: I was a freshman in college, and I looked at
- 11:44Speaker 1: him across the room, and I said to my roommate
- 11:47Speaker 1: who came to the party with me, I said, you
- 11:49Speaker 1: see that guy over there? She said, yeah. I said,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I'm going to marry him. And I did, 18 months later.
- 11:54Speaker 2: That's crazy. I know that you guys got married really quickly.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I remember you telling me that story. I love that,
- 11:58Speaker 2: like the kind of the family. First of all, I
- 12:00Speaker 2: do want to say I'm wondering why after 35 years,
- 12:05Speaker 2: years they decided to do this. It seems like, did
- 12:08Speaker 2: they do this throughout the history? Did she do it
- 12:11Speaker 2: at 10 years? And did you do it at 20 years?
- 12:13Speaker 1: I'll tell you, it's tough, Joan.
- 12:14Speaker 2: At 35 years, it seems a little weird or a
- 12:16Speaker 2: little unusual. I don't know. I should never say it's
- 12:18Speaker 2: weird because whatever hit her, hit her. Have you commemorated
- 12:23Speaker 2: things like wedding anniversary or birthdays or passing days or
- 12:29Speaker 2: Like of, you know, your late husband or have you
- 12:32Speaker 2: like stuck to a schedule? I mean, or does it
- 12:35Speaker 2: just hit you sometimes when you talk about it online?
- 12:38Speaker 2: How have you handled this?
- 12:39Speaker 1: Well, my kids are three grown children. They don't really like.
- 12:45Speaker 1: celebrating the day he died, as you and everyone else
- 12:49Speaker 1: at this point, my husband died by suicide. So no
- 12:51Speaker 1: one wants to celebrate that day. We try to do
- 12:54Speaker 1: something for his birthday. I'll be honest, though, it's his birthday.
- 12:59Speaker 1: The kids don't even remember when our anniversary is. That's
- 13:01Speaker 1: sort of my day to remember. Birthdays, Christmas, holidays, they're tough.
- 13:06Speaker 1: We remember him. We talk about him. I try to
- 13:09Speaker 1: do something special. even if it's just me doing something special,
- 13:13Speaker 1: playing a song that we like. But I usually always,
- 13:17Speaker 1: always send a text, not usually, I do, send a
- 13:20Speaker 1: text to my kids on his birthday and say, it's
- 13:24Speaker 1: been this many years that he's been gone. And I
- 13:28Speaker 1: know you joined with me and wish he were back
- 13:30Speaker 1: with us. So I think for some people, Joan, it's
- 13:32Speaker 1: harder to face those holidays and Um, but I do honor,
- 13:38Speaker 1: I do. Do you, do you honor? Yeah, I do.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I do. Um, I always go and visit him at
- 13:44Speaker 2: the cemetery on our anniversary. I still talk to him.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I know it sounds weird, but I'll be at the cemetery.
- 13:49Speaker 2: If no one's around, I'll have a little conversation with him.
- 13:51Speaker 2: If there are other people around, I won't. Um, we, we,
- 13:54Speaker 2: we go on his birthday, um, his birthday and Thanksgiving
- 13:58Speaker 2: are all right, right around the same time. So, um,
- 14:00Speaker 2: we'll go kind of visit him. We'll bring him flowers.
- 14:02Speaker 2: We'll sing happy birthday. My kids and I will go.
- 14:05Speaker 2: So we do honor things. I've done a couple. I mean,
- 14:08Speaker 2: this was, you know, very public the way she's honoring him.
- 14:10Speaker 2: She did it on Instagram. I have done that a
- 14:13Speaker 2: little bit in the past. I struggle a little bit
- 14:16Speaker 2: talking about John because I still feel very sad about it.
- 14:19Speaker 2: And like you do. So I remember the one time
- 14:23Speaker 2: I did something that made me really happy. And I said,
- 14:26Speaker 2: you know, so many people share stories with me when
- 14:28Speaker 2: I see them out about John. And I love hearing
- 14:32Speaker 2: those stories because The thing that I don't want ever
- 14:35Speaker 2: to happen is to people forget about him, like for
- 14:37Speaker 2: him to just fade from this life. And so I
- 14:40Speaker 2: love it when people tell me stories. And so I said, hey,
- 14:42Speaker 2: if you have any stories, just share them here on Instagram.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I got so many stories and it was a lot
- 14:47Speaker 2: of my kids' friends who remember Mr. Vassos when he
- 14:51Speaker 2: took us to the pool and, you know, such and
- 14:53Speaker 2: such happened or when he drove us to school that
- 14:55Speaker 2: day and he didn't have shoes on and you forgot,
- 14:57Speaker 2: like someone forgot their lunchbox. They had to walk in
- 14:59Speaker 2: the school without shoes on and like just funny stories
- 15:01Speaker 2: about him that I loved. So I see why maybe
- 15:04Speaker 2: she's doing this. And I think maybe this spurred on
- 15:06Speaker 2: a little bit of And maybe that's what she wanted
- 15:09Speaker 2: because Bindi then commemorated the anniversary by sharing a picture
- 15:14Speaker 2: of her parents on her Instagram, writing, 35 years ago today,
- 15:17Speaker 2: my parents met. They began the most beautiful love story together,
- 15:20Speaker 2: which continues to transcend life and loss. Terry commented on
- 15:25Speaker 2: the post, so blessed to have a chance meeting, begin
- 15:28Speaker 2: a lifetime of love every day. I'm thankful for the
- 15:31Speaker 2: family we grew together, you and Robert light up my world.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And certainly we've seen them interact because both Bindi and
- 15:38Speaker 2: Robert have been on Dancing with the Stars together and
- 15:40Speaker 2: the mom always comes. And so you can see their
- 15:44Speaker 2: strong bond. But I find this really interesting that in
- 15:47Speaker 2: January 2018 interview with People, Terry shared that she hadn't
- 15:50Speaker 2: been on a date since Steve's death and that was okay.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I think it's wonderful when people who have lost someone
- 15:57Speaker 2: find love again, but I'm not personally looking and I
- 16:00Speaker 2: haven't been on a date in 27 years, she said then.
- 16:03Speaker 2: In fact, it's been so long, I've had a couple
- 16:06Speaker 2: of lovely women ask me out because they figured that's
- 16:09Speaker 2: the case. Continue, Terry. But I'm content. I have two
- 16:12Speaker 2: beautiful kids, a really full plate. I've already had my
- 16:16Speaker 2: happily ever after. What do you think, Kathy, about her
- 16:19Speaker 2: never dating again?
- 16:20Speaker 1: You know, I think... Everyone does what works for them.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I often say, my husband's been gone seven years, and
- 16:30Speaker 1: I do date, but I never will replace. Just as
- 16:34Speaker 1: you said the same thing, Joan, we're never going to
- 16:36Speaker 1: replace our husbands, and we're not trying to replace them.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I would like to find companionship, but I think everyone
- 16:43Speaker 1: does what works for them. I have three great kids.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I have five grandchildren, so I'm extremely busy too. At
- 16:49Speaker 1: the same time, I like the idea of having someone
- 16:52Speaker 1: to go to dinner with, maybe travel with, have adult
- 16:55Speaker 1: conversation with that's not my children. I just wanted to
- 16:59Speaker 1: add one other thing. My kids, interestingly, always acknowledge their
- 17:06Speaker 1: dad's birthday on Christmas. Instagram or Facebook. I never do.
- 17:11Speaker 1: And that's so funny because I'm out in the public
- 17:14Speaker 1: and I have a podcast and all that, but I
- 17:16Speaker 1: don't know. I can't do that. Yet my kids always
- 17:19Speaker 1: put a picture up of them with their dad. Isn't
- 17:22Speaker 1: that interesting that they always acknowledge it, but I can't
- 17:25Speaker 1: do it.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I have a hard time doing it too. Like
- 17:28Speaker 2: I told you, I did it that one time, but I,
- 17:30Speaker 2: I've done it a few times, but not often, but
- 17:32Speaker 2: that one did bring me a lot of joy. So
- 17:34Speaker 2: I'm so happy I did that one.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Okay, well, we're going to move along to Ben Affleck.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And he says that Jennifer Garner was very wise to
- 17:46Speaker 1: turn down playing his wife. in a new movie. Ben Affleck,
- 17:51Speaker 1: he gets why his ex-wife Jennifer Garner wasn't keen on
- 17:54Speaker 1: playing this role in his new thriller, Animals. During a
- 17:59Speaker 1: recent visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 54-year-old actor and
- 18:03Speaker 1: director explained that his longtime pal, Matt Damon, was originally
- 18:07Speaker 1: supposed to play the lead role in the film and
- 18:10Speaker 1: that Garner would play his wife, However, when Damon bowed
- 18:14Speaker 1: out to star in The Odyssey, Affleck took over the role.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And well, that's where Garner drew the line. She said
- 18:21Speaker 1: at that point, obviously, Jen was like, yeah, great. But no,
- 18:24Speaker 1: I'm not going to play your wife in a movie. No, thanks. Exactly.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And of course, Jimmy Kimmel left. He said, probably the
- 18:30Speaker 1: best that lesson's been learned. She's very wise in many ways.
- 18:34Speaker 1: And I thought that was interesting because I don't know
- 18:36Speaker 1: if you're aware of this, but Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck,
- 18:41Speaker 1: who are also married, they did a movie together called
- 18:46Speaker 1: Kiss of the Spider Woman. And Jennifer Lopez says she
- 18:51Speaker 1: could barely manage to pull it off. And that it
- 18:54Speaker 1: was his company. And so she was really trying to
- 18:57Speaker 1: get through it. But so I think that's probably what
- 19:00Speaker 1: what Jimmy Kimmel was alluding to. Like, yeah, not a
- 19:03Speaker 1: good thing. So so so after that, you know, obviously
- 19:08Speaker 1: I needed a new lead and Kerry Washington. took over
- 19:11Speaker 1: the role in her stead, with Affleck describing the Scandal
- 19:15Speaker 1: star as someone he's always wanted to work with. After
- 19:18Speaker 1: taking over the role, Affleck explained that he spoke with
- 19:21Speaker 1: Garner about the situation, and she was like, we don't
- 19:24Speaker 1: want to do that. You just get baggage. That being said,
- 19:28Speaker 1: the Oscar winner noted that he really would love to
- 19:30Speaker 1: share the screen again with his ex one day. I
- 19:33Speaker 1: don't know. I found that very strange.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I think it's hilarious that he said, I get it
- 19:37Speaker 2: why she didn't want to do it. He knows that
- 19:39Speaker 2: he would have problems working with her and she knows
- 19:42Speaker 2: that she would have problems working with him. It's really obvious.
- 19:44Speaker 2: He acknowledged that she made the right decision. Like there
- 19:47Speaker 2: was no conversation.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It sounds right so I and again like I said
- 19:50Speaker 1: he did work with Jennifer Lopez and that didn't work
- 19:53Speaker 1: so well either so I think that's just him trying
- 19:56Speaker 1: to get out of it gracefully at least I hope
- 19:58Speaker 1: that's what it.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Is yeah do they have kids together Yes.
- 20:01Speaker 1: They do. I think they have two or three kids
- 20:03Speaker 1: together and they're a little bit older now.
- 20:05Speaker 2: So I think it's really smart, honestly, that if you
- 20:08Speaker 2: think it's going to cause any turmoil that will then
- 20:10Speaker 2: maybe eventually like affect the kids, you should just not
- 20:13Speaker 2: do it. So they don't need the money. Neither one
- 20:16Speaker 2: of them need the money. Neither one of them need
- 20:17Speaker 2: to work with each other. They're not desperate. Right.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I do like though how he ended it. He said,
- 20:23Speaker 1: she's fabulous and we're really good friends and I'm profoundly
- 20:27Speaker 1: grateful to her and we have a great thing. I
- 20:30Speaker 1: still would want to work with them in the future,
- 20:32Speaker 1: but what you don't want to do is take the
- 20:34Speaker 1: audience's baggage and have it work against you, you know?
- 20:37Speaker 1: I have no clue what that really means, the audience's baggage,
- 20:41Speaker 1: unless it means... the audience reaction to working with the ex, commenting,
- 20:45Speaker 1: and then again, that could reflect negatively on them and
- 20:50Speaker 1: then maybe upset their kids. But I think Jennifer made
- 20:54Speaker 1: the right decision, and I think that it all worked
- 20:57Speaker 1: out at the best.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I think that, you know, everybody's so free
- 21:00Speaker 2: now with being able to share their opinions about everything
- 21:03Speaker 2: on so many different platforms that, you know... like thinking
- 21:07Speaker 2: about what the audience might say about the two of
- 21:09Speaker 2: them working together. If it goes poorly, they're going to say, oh,
- 21:12Speaker 2: they had a bad relationship. They're divorced. Why were they
- 21:14Speaker 2: working together? If it goes great, then the rumors may be, oh.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Oh, they're getting back together. Oh, yeah, you can't win.
- 21:21Speaker 2: They should not do it. And they didn't. And that
- 21:23Speaker 2: was smart. I think it was a really good idea. Okay,
- 21:35Speaker 2: I want to shift to something really interesting. Okay. I
- 21:38Speaker 2: don't know. This is like probably us. I do part two,
- 21:42Speaker 2: merging with true crime. And I'm really excited about this
- 21:45Speaker 2: story because I remember watching it as it played out.
- 21:47Speaker 2: So I'm going to go and give you kind of
- 21:49Speaker 2: the headlines about it right now. So Gypsy Rose Blanchard,
- 21:52Speaker 2: I hope you remember her, shares proof of bullying and harassment.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Ken Urker... Okay, so Gypsy Rose Ransford is sharing examples
- 22:03Speaker 2: of what she says isn't even a fraction of the
- 22:06Speaker 2: online harassment her late husband, Ken Urker, endured prior to his,
- 22:11Speaker 2: I'm sorry, not late husband, late partner, Ken Urker, endured
- 22:15Speaker 2: prior to his death. Urquhart was found dead at his
- 22:17Speaker 2: Louisiana home on his 31st birthday on October 1st. It's
- 22:22Speaker 2: on his birthday. That's incredibly sad. The 35-year-old mother who
- 22:26Speaker 2: shares daughter Aurora with Urquhart posted a list of alleged
- 22:29Speaker 2: cases of bullying, the majority of which came from the
- 22:33Speaker 2: same Reddit forum. The incidents Blanchard shared claimed that Reddit
- 22:37Speaker 2: posts mocked Urquhart's appearance, sexuality, and questioned the status of
- 22:42Speaker 2: his relationship with Blanchard numerous times. These screenshots show only
- 22:46Speaker 2: a small portion of the evidence log documenting the cyberbullying, ridicule, allegations,
- 22:52Speaker 2: and targeted harassment Ken faced across social media over the years.
- 22:57Speaker 2: There is substantially more that has yet to be documented.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Blanchard captioned the post, people need to understand that what
- 23:04Speaker 2: sustained online harassment can look like when hundreds or thousands
- 23:09Speaker 2: of individuals post comments, videos, and discussions accumulated against one
- 23:14Speaker 2: human being. Blanchard urged the public to remember that on
- 23:17Speaker 2: the other side of the screen was a real person,
- 23:20Speaker 2: a father and a partner. She then shared an image
- 23:24Speaker 2: of herself with Urker, writing, he was our world, before
- 23:27Speaker 2: posting another image of their daughter and writing, she was his.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Continuing her call for a new law in Urker's honor,
- 23:36Speaker 2: Blanchard wrote, Kenan's law is about turning awareness into change.
- 23:41Speaker 2: It is about recognizing the cumulative impact of cyberbullying and
- 23:45Speaker 2: pushing for stronger protections and accountability online, and asked her
- 23:49Speaker 2: followers to sign the petition for the proposed law. Blanchard
- 23:53Speaker 2: told People, the reasoning behind her post is because there
- 23:56Speaker 2: are people who participated in harassment who would rather sweep
- 23:59Speaker 2: what happened online under the rug than acknowledge the real
- 24:02Speaker 2: harm their words caused. an action can cause. I'm not
- 24:05Speaker 2: going to let that happen. So I love this, that
- 24:08Speaker 2: she is turning this horrible tragedy into potentially something good.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I do wonder how successful this could be, because I
- 24:16Speaker 2: do feel like we have laws and it's part of
- 24:19Speaker 2: our constitution that we are allowed to talk. You know,
- 24:22Speaker 2: we have freedom of speech.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I wonder if Oh, but cyberbullying, Joan, has become a
- 24:28Speaker 1: huge thing. And you can prosecute for that. So I
- 24:31Speaker 1: give her great credit for, you know, she can't change.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I don't know what happened to him. Is it a
- 24:38Speaker 1: little odd that he died so young on his birthday
- 24:41Speaker 1: at home?
- 24:42Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you. Of course, there was a
- 24:45Speaker 2: police investigation. And it says in a statement to people,
- 24:48Speaker 2: Blanchard claimed that Urker wasn't in a good state of
- 24:51Speaker 2: mind lately. He had been drinking a lot to cope.
- 24:54Speaker 2: A spokesperson for the La Feroce, Paris Sheriff's Office told
- 24:58Speaker 2: people that they had found no evidence of foul play
- 25:02Speaker 2: so far in their investigation. As long as the investigation
- 25:05Speaker 2: is ongoing, of course, we cannot rule it out. So obviously,
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, it's still an investigation, but they did find paraphernalia,
- 25:12Speaker 2: specifically syringes and a spoon in the bathroom next to
- 25:16Speaker 2: a brown powdery substance, according to the sheriff's report. So
- 25:19Speaker 2: They did find some things. And he even had a
- 25:21Speaker 2: handgun in his bed, his nightstand next to the bed.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Sounds like maybe, I don't know, maybe he had that
- 25:28Speaker 2: for safety or maybe he had that because he was
- 25:30Speaker 2: contemplating something. So it's scary. And I know that hits
- 25:32Speaker 2: home for you, Kathy. I'm sorry.
- 25:33Speaker 1: That's okay. No, no, that's okay. I guess my question
- 25:37Speaker 1: though is, and it's only conjecture, right? Is what was
- 25:42Speaker 1: going on? Did he have a drug issue? Did he
- 25:45Speaker 1: have marital issues? was cyberbullying getting to him. It seems
- 25:50Speaker 1: like Gypsy Rose Blanchard is trying to draw a very
- 25:55Speaker 1: strong connection between cyberbullying and his death. And I'm not
- 26:02Speaker 1: a police officer and I'm not an investigator, but I
- 26:05Speaker 1: do think there might be more in this story than
- 26:10Speaker 1: just cyberbullying.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 26:13Speaker 1: As a cause of death.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you. I'm also trying to figure
- 26:17Speaker 2: out what the bullying was based on. So obviously he's
- 26:19Speaker 2: kind of a public figure just because he married her
- 26:22Speaker 2: and they have a child together.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Were people criticizing him? for being with her. You know,
- 26:28Speaker 2: she's had such a crazy past and, you know, she,
- 26:32Speaker 2: you know, went to jail.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 26:34Speaker 2: So she, I don't know if you remember the story.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I remember following it really closely that she was born
- 26:39Speaker 2: and her to this woman named Dee Dee Blanchard.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 26:42Speaker 2: And Gypsy Rose from a very young age had been
- 26:46Speaker 2: suffering abuse from her mother at, by, and the abuse
- 26:50Speaker 2: was called Munchausen's by proxy. So if you know what
- 26:53Speaker 2: Munchausen's is, it's about So it's about people thinking or
- 26:56Speaker 2: pretending that they have an illness. Well, D.G. Blanchard forced
- 26:59Speaker 2: her daughter to pretend that she had leukemia, muscular dystrophy,
- 27:04Speaker 2: and severe asthma. Gypsy was subjected to unneeded surgeries, feeding tubes,
- 27:11Speaker 2: and wheelchair confinement. DG lied about Gypsy's age and made
- 27:16Speaker 2: her appear sick to get charity, free chips, and public sympathy.
- 27:20Speaker 2: So later on when Gypsy figured out that all these things,
- 27:25Speaker 2: that she was not that sick, I mean, she even
- 27:27Speaker 2: shaved her head to pretend that she had cancer so
- 27:29Speaker 2: she'd get sympathy. They lost her house after a hurricane
- 27:33Speaker 2: and people paid for her to have a new house
- 27:37Speaker 2: built with a ramp. I mean, they really got a lot.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Her mother was really very devious and used her child
- 27:44Speaker 2: But later in life, as Gypsy got a little older,
- 27:47Speaker 2: she met an online boyfriend named Nicholas Gojon and convinced
- 27:51Speaker 2: him to travel to her home in Springfield, Missouri, which
- 27:54Speaker 2: they planned a scheme to kill Dee Dee, the mother,
- 28:01Speaker 2: which they did. And they planned it together, but he
- 28:05Speaker 2: was the one that actually murdered the mother. I think
- 28:07Speaker 2: he stabbed her like 17 times. It was pretty brutal
- 28:10Speaker 2: and awful.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 2: And she pled guilty to second-degree murder and went to
- 28:15Speaker 2: jail and spent time in jail. He is in jail
- 28:18Speaker 2: currently for that murder. So, you know, she's been— I' m not
- 28:21Speaker 2: sure if you call her a villain. I mean, she
- 28:24Speaker 2: hired or she asked somebody, she convinced somebody to kill
- 28:27Speaker 2: her mother. But, boy, she had been through an awful lot.
- 28:30Speaker 2: It reminds me a little bit of the Menendez brothers
- 28:32Speaker 2: who had, like, enjoyed it for many, many years. What
- 28:35Speaker 2: do you think about that?
- 28:37Speaker 1: Well, I think that, again, I think there's more to
- 28:40Speaker 1: the story because— Blanchard and Urker were originally engaged, I
- 28:44Speaker 1: don't know if you know this, in 2018 while she
- 28:47Speaker 1: was in prison for the murder of her mother, as
- 28:49Speaker 1: you said, Dee Dee Blanchard. But then she called things
- 28:52Speaker 1: off with Urker and then they reconciled. She called things
- 28:56Speaker 1: off before they reconciled again in 2019. They split again.
- 29:00Speaker 1: They reconciled again after her divorce from Ryan Anderson. So
- 29:05Speaker 1: I just think there is more than cyberbullying. Yes, Jip
- 29:11Speaker 1: Thoreau's Blanchard story, I remember it well. They had a
- 29:14Speaker 1: child together. But I think the investigation is going to
- 29:17Speaker 1: show that There's more going on here than cyberbullying or
- 29:22Speaker 1: more was going on. And I think it's very sad.
- 29:25Speaker 1: And I do think it's very curious that he died
- 29:28Speaker 1: on his birthday.
- 29:28Speaker 2: But even, yeah, it sounds like, you know, birthdays are
- 29:31Speaker 2: milestones for people. 34, I'm not sure if that would
- 29:33Speaker 2: have been a huge milestone for me, but 35 maybe. But,
- 29:36Speaker 2: you know, they are milestones and it makes you maybe
- 29:38Speaker 2: think about your life a little bit. And if you,
- 29:40Speaker 2: I mean, she said it wasn't just hundreds, it was
- 29:42Speaker 2: thousands of messages from people. And I know you and I, we,
- 29:45Speaker 2: you know, we're kind of out in the public a
- 29:47Speaker 2: little bit and, you know, we recognize that you open
- 29:49Speaker 2: yourself up to that by living a public life. I'm
- 29:52Speaker 2: not sure, like he... sought out a woman who was
- 29:57Speaker 2: living a public life. And I don't think you ever
- 30:00Speaker 2: plan on people hating you or, you know, the vitriol
- 30:05Speaker 2: you get from, you know, from anything you do, even
- 30:09Speaker 2: the way you look. It talked about the way you
- 30:10Speaker 2: looked and like they, you know, like talked about his sexuality.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I mean, like people can attack you for anything. So
- 30:16Speaker 2: it's really brutal out there.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I mean, both you and I, Joan, have experienced cyberbullying.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Yeah, all the time. And we're not looking to end
- 30:24Speaker 1: our lives. So I think some, I know it has happened.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I'll be interested to see where it all turns out.
- 30:32Speaker 1: The only other thing I want to say about this story,
- 30:34Speaker 1: do you realize how much has changed? God only knows
- 30:37Speaker 1: what medications and stuff that mother was giving her daughter. Now,
- 30:41Speaker 1: like I remember back in the day, if you had
- 30:45Speaker 1: a drug addiction, you could get drugs. You just go
- 30:48Speaker 1: to a different doctor, right? He'd write a script. And
- 30:50Speaker 1: that's how people got so addicted. Now they have these
- 30:52Speaker 1: national forums where you're signed. They can look and see
- 30:56Speaker 1: where you've been. So, you know, probably this wouldn't have
- 31:00Speaker 1: happened now. Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 2: I remember being so shocked how the system failed her
- 31:04Speaker 2: so drastically that there were so many places that she went.
- 31:07Speaker 2: They moved and like they just went from hospital to
- 31:10Speaker 2: hospital and to doctor to doctor. Like how in the
- 31:12Speaker 2: world do you convince a doctor that your daughter has leukemia?
- 31:15Speaker 2: I don't know. And or whatever. But I don't think
- 31:18Speaker 2: she convinced a doctor, but she shaved her head. She
- 31:20Speaker 2: pretended to take her to the hospital. She stuck her
- 31:22Speaker 2: in wheelchairs. It just was. It is.
- 31:25Speaker 1: It's truly a Ripley's, believe it or not. But this
- 31:28Speaker 1: is a, you know, a story that's ongoing, and we
- 31:31Speaker 1: are going to have to keep following it to see
- 31:33Speaker 1: where it all ends up. Yeah.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I feel like Gypsy Rose, even though she's had a very, like,
- 31:37Speaker 2: odd life, she's endured a lot. I mean, you've got
- 31:41Speaker 2: to imagine. I mean, she's had, like, a bunch of
- 31:43Speaker 2: shows they did, like, Life After Lockup for her and
- 31:46Speaker 2: a couple other, like, reality shows, like, documenting her life.
- 31:50Speaker 2: But she's, boy.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 2: She's been through a lot.
- 31:52Speaker 1: All right. Well, we're going to keep on top of it.
- 31:54Speaker 1: And now a little bit happier story. We're going to
- 31:58Speaker 1: move on. Jessica Simpson was spotted in New Mexico with
- 32:01Speaker 1: boyfriend Thomas Eisenhood following her split with Eric Johnson. They
- 32:07Speaker 1: were having some quality time together. The musician couple was
- 32:11Speaker 1: seen spending time at Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta Park on Sunday,
- 32:15Speaker 1: October 4th. The photos were provided by TMZ. In the images, Simpson, 46,
- 32:21Speaker 1: could be seen sporting a suede fringe jacket, which she
- 32:25Speaker 1: accessorized with a pair of oval sunnies and several oversized rings. Eisenhut,
- 32:32Speaker 1: who's 33, appeared in a red hoodie. According to the outlet,
- 32:35Speaker 1: the pair were seen walking through the park and taking
- 32:38Speaker 1: selfies with the hot air balloons in the background. Okay,
- 32:42Speaker 1: before we move on to anything else, she's 46, he's 33.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I just want to point that out.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I don't think she's having a hard time finding a
- 32:49Speaker 2: boyfriend or a date, right?
- 32:51Speaker 1: I mean, listen, if you can get a guy 13
- 32:53Speaker 1: years younger and walk around in your suede fringe jacket,
- 32:57Speaker 1: I'm all with you.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Kind of a sexy musician, too.
- 32:59Speaker 1: That's right.
- 33:01Speaker 2: What I got to say, the other thing I want
- 33:02Speaker 2: to say about that paragraph is I really need a
- 33:05Speaker 2: suede fringe jacket now. I have this urge to go
- 33:07Speaker 2: buy because I mean, like.
- 33:09Speaker 1: That's what I just said. If you can get a
- 33:11Speaker 1: red fringe suede jacket and find a guy that's 13
- 33:15Speaker 1: years younger, I'm off to Macy's myself.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Maybe you and I need to go get suede fringe jackets.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Let's do it, Joan. Okay, so bystanders told TMZ that
- 33:23Speaker 1: another couple ended up taking photos of Simpson and Eisenhood,
- 33:27Speaker 1: where the latter wrapped his arm around her and the
- 33:30Speaker 1: former rested her head on his shoulder. According to the outlet,
- 33:36Speaker 1: Simpson and the Nashville-based artist were seen laughing throughout the
- 33:39Speaker 1: park and tried to avoid attention. In April, an exclusive
- 33:43Speaker 1: source told people that Simpson was dating Eisenhood, a member
- 33:47Speaker 1: of the Stoop Kids band, which broke up in 2023
- 33:50Speaker 1: per its Instagram bio. The source exclusively told people that
- 33:55Speaker 1: the fashion mogul was happy. She's in a great place
- 33:59Speaker 1: and excited for her future, the source added. The relationship
- 34:02Speaker 1: began more than a year after Simpson and Eric Johnson,
- 34:05Speaker 1: I don't know if you remember him, but he was
- 34:07Speaker 1: an NFL player, and he's 47, announced their separation in
- 34:12Speaker 1: January of 2025. The former couple were married for 10 years,
- 34:17Speaker 1: and they shared three children, daughters Maxwell Drew, who's 14,
- 34:21Speaker 1: Birdie Mae, who's 7, and son Ace Newt, who's 13.
- 34:25Speaker 2: I wonder, you know, she has a documentary coming out
- 34:28Speaker 2: about her next year. And I wonder if he's going
- 34:32Speaker 2: to be a big part of that. Sounds like they're
- 34:35Speaker 2: kind of ingrained. They're kind of exclusive.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I mean, if it hasn't been filmed yet, I'm going
- 34:40Speaker 1: to go with yes. Because who wouldn't want to be
- 34:44Speaker 1: waltzing around with her 33-year-old boyfriend? I mean, she sounds happy.
- 34:48Speaker 1: I say, go girl.
- 34:51Speaker 2: I look at the ages of our kids, and I
- 34:55Speaker 2: got to imagine that a 33-year-old, I mean, I know
- 34:57Speaker 2: that they have a father, so he's not going to
- 34:59Speaker 2: be a father figure to them. But I got to
- 35:01Speaker 2: imagine him coming into a relationship with somebody who has
- 35:05Speaker 2: two teenagers, a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old and a 7-year-old.
- 35:08Speaker 2: That's got to be hard.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Joan. He could, I mean, physically, he
- 35:13Speaker 1: could be the dad. He could be. He could be.
- 35:16Speaker 2: But I think coming in, I mean, this sounds like
- 35:18Speaker 2: this has been going on for about a year, coming
- 35:20Speaker 2: into a relationship where the kids are already teenagers sounds hard.
- 35:25Speaker 2: And he doesn't sound like he's, he's 33. He hasn't
- 35:27Speaker 2: had a lot of life experiences, doesn't have his own kids. He, like,
- 35:31Speaker 2: he's dealing with teenagers. Like, I can see that being
- 35:33Speaker 2: a really trying thing and maybe something really interesting to
- 35:36Speaker 2: watch in a documentary.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, the documentary, I hope, includes how you
- 35:42Speaker 1: manage this public life with, you know, your good looking
- 35:46Speaker 1: sweetheart and how you manage a new relationship with teenage kids.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Hot ex-husband.
- 35:52Speaker 1: And yeah. Hey, listen, maybe we should go after the
- 35:55Speaker 1: 46 year old. He's probably already in another relationship too.
- 35:58Speaker 1: They always are. Oh, Joan, this has been so much fun.
