- 0:04Speaker 2: But hailing from the city of Sands. Put your hands
- 0:06Speaker 2: together for Jamison Welch.
- 0:08Speaker 1: And in this corner standing at five foot ten, weighing
- 0:11Speaker 1: in at pound and coming to us from his super
- 0:15Speaker 1: secret bunker with no ac in Tucson, Arizona.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Put your hands together for Luis Montemao.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Thank you. Welcome back to the episode of Misgivny podcast.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Of course I'm one half of the show. I'm Jameson
- 0:30Speaker 1: as always, I'm joined by Louise. Louise, what's going on man?
- 0:35Speaker 4: Well, Jamison, we are in the dog days of summer,
- 0:37Speaker 4: as they say, middle of July here, and there's been
- 0:40Speaker 4: a lot going on in the boxing world. The biggest
- 0:43Speaker 4: thing that we should talk about was a few days ago.
- 0:45Speaker 4: It has been officially announced. It's been kind of that.
- 0:48Speaker 4: It was a long time coming. We were wondering if
- 0:50Speaker 4: this is true or not, but sa Cour Stevenson has
- 0:52Speaker 4: officially sided with ZUFA Boxing under Dana White. Side with
- 0:58Speaker 4: ZUFA is the thing I'm gonna have trouble say during
- 1:00Speaker 4: the show. But you know, we haven't been fans of
- 1:04Speaker 4: data White or Zoofa we've not been impressed. We've been
- 1:06Speaker 4: on the record. One thing a start. I'll start with this.
- 1:11Speaker 4: It seems that there's a lot of announcements about, you know,
- 1:14Speaker 4: a lot of promises, big fights, big names, this and
- 1:17Speaker 4: that they signed Shakhor, but no actual fight was it
- 1:21Speaker 4: elsd So I don't see this as changing my mind
- 1:24Speaker 4: on anything Zoof is doing. It's just like you got
- 1:27Speaker 4: to get people in the ring. You gotta put people
- 1:29Speaker 4: together and get me excited. Because Chakhur's the name. I'm
- 1:32Speaker 4: a fan, but what's next? Like, what is he doing next?
- 1:35Speaker 4: What are your thoughts on that stage?
- 1:36Speaker 1: So he's the domino that starts everything, right, he's the name.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So you got to get the name first, and they
- 1:40Speaker 1: got that. Once you get that, then you make your
- 1:43Speaker 1: other names that come over, or you make other fights.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I think you have to get the name first and
- 1:48Speaker 1: then you establish who's next or what fights next. I
- 1:51Speaker 1: think we get an announcement of a fight coming soon.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I would say within the next four six weeks. Bye,
- 1:57Speaker 1: it's mid January. Now, by Labor Day weekend, we should
- 2:01Speaker 1: have an announcement of some sort of fight between Shakur
- 2:04Speaker 1: and Haini, Shakour and whoever, like there should be a
- 2:09Speaker 1: deal out there. You know, that's something where we should
- 2:16Speaker 1: get something out there. So that being said, it's not
- 2:22Speaker 1: bad announcement. It's one of those things where I'm kind
- 2:24Speaker 1: of a waiting and to see approach with things, but
- 2:27Speaker 1: you know, kind of I'm cautiously optimistic.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So if you're.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Saying in your mind, maybe a Labor Day announcement, and
- 2:36Speaker 4: in terms of what we talked about, how long it
- 2:38Speaker 4: takes to.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Promote a fight, so like November.
- 2:41Speaker 4: If that's the case and that's what happens, the timeline
- 2:45Speaker 4: would be the ce Cha Quebec in November.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Correct, it could be or it could be like, hey,
- 2:49Speaker 1: like he's not fighting until early next year, nothing but supplies.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I would hope it's November, though I hope it's before
- 2:55Speaker 1: the end of the year. But you never know with
- 2:57Speaker 1: these things. I think he feel like he's ready to fight.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Talks every day on social media, so you would think
- 3:02Speaker 1: he's ready to fight. Now, we just never know how
- 3:03Speaker 1: these things work out. With all that being said, the
- 3:07Speaker 1: one thing I will give Zoos a credit for is
- 3:09Speaker 1: it feels like we're gonna get a lot of fights.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's all we ever asked for? Right is the fights?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Now?
- 3:14Speaker 2: How boxes get taken care of the salary? All that
- 3:17Speaker 2: that is hit or miss. We know that has its
- 3:19Speaker 2: own course of action.
- 3:21Speaker 1: But in terms of the fights itself, it feels like
- 3:25Speaker 1: with this group, you're gonna have a lot of fights.
- 3:27Speaker 1: In general, you're gonna have a lot of fights, a
- 3:28Speaker 1: lot of matches being made. That's all we are asked for.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So with that being said, it's one of those things
- 3:34Speaker 1: to where I'm not too opposed to what we're gonna
- 3:39Speaker 1: have take place and what's gonna what's gonna go on?
- 3:43Speaker 4: Sure, and as down as I've been on them and
- 3:45Speaker 4: data with all of this, and that might uh, of
- 3:47Speaker 4: course I want to see more fights.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I want to.
- 3:49Speaker 4: I love boxing and I want more of it. My
- 3:51Speaker 4: only thing is that it seems like a lot of hype,
- 3:53Speaker 4: a lot of promises, and not a lot of action
- 3:55Speaker 4: so far. And I just kind of you say, one thing,
- 4:00Speaker 4: you can't wait too too long to, you know, put
- 4:03Speaker 4: these people in the ring together, because there's always somebody
- 4:06Speaker 4: nu down the corner.
- 4:07Speaker 3: There's always another fight taking up the.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Air, the oxygen in the room, and I just really
- 4:12Speaker 4: want to announce me because there's one thing. It's one
- 4:15Speaker 4: thing to have shakor saying I want to fight this
- 4:17Speaker 4: person talking shit on social media or you know he
- 4:20Speaker 4: got into it with Connor Ben it's last fight afterwards.
- 4:23Speaker 4: It's one thing through that, and it's another thing for
- 4:26Speaker 4: promotional companies saying, oh, we're going to be the best,
- 4:29Speaker 4: We're going to put the best mets together, like.
- 4:31Speaker 3: You're the guys.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Are you the people that can help make it more
- 4:34Speaker 4: so than the fighter? I think, so show me something
- 4:36Speaker 4: is how I see it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: That part, but also too, it's one of those things
- 4:39Speaker 1: to where things have to make sense, right. I mean,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I think the powers that be that are organizing all
- 4:44Speaker 1: this they have a plan as well. They probably have
- 4:46Speaker 1: a free fight plan that they want to see executed.
- 4:48Speaker 1: They probably want to see certain matchups. They want to
- 4:50Speaker 1: also put together as many programming nights as possible, especially
- 4:55Speaker 1: with football coming back.
- 4:56Speaker 2: You know, there's been I feel like there's been a fight.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Every weekend during the last few weeks, which has been great,
- 5:01Speaker 1: but you all seed to put together really strong weekends
- 5:04Speaker 1: going forward as well. So it's an interesting to see
- 5:07Speaker 1: how they set everything forward and how everything is going.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I'm very curious to see how that goes with that
- 5:12Speaker 1: being said, Shakur is a big name and he's gonna
- 5:16Speaker 1: have to fight you know people, And I can see
- 5:18Speaker 1: him fighting a tune up the next go around, then
- 5:21Speaker 1: fighting a big name early first quarter, I can see that.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I think that's even been rumored.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Actually, I've seen Devin Handy's dad in the media and
- 5:28Speaker 1: out there almost every day. It feels like talking about
- 5:31Speaker 1: talking to Jay Prince, talk to this person, talk to
- 5:33Speaker 1: that person, is looking like early first quarter of twenty seven.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Which is you know, whatever whatever, But who knows.
- 5:39Speaker 1: There's a lot of everyone's pointing the finger at the
- 5:41Speaker 1: other party, one person saying one thing, one person saying another.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Who all knows, But we do know chakors with ZUFA,
- 5:47Speaker 1: so we know ZUFA has a lot of leverage at
- 5:50Speaker 1: the moment. They may be trying to get other people.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Who knows, But as of right now, it's kind of
- 5:54Speaker 1: wait and see what everything going on. Yeah, absolutely, and yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 1: I know there's rumors of a tune up fight. Shakur
- 6:00Speaker 1: himself has said no, he wants a big fight. He
- 6:03Speaker 1: wants his next fight to be a big name.
- 6:05Speaker 4: And the names that are you know, being thrown around
- 6:07Speaker 4: are Ray Garcia, Tank Davis, Devin Haney, and Connor ben
- 6:14Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, which one of those excites
- 6:16Speaker 4: you the most or if if they're a possibility, because
- 6:19Speaker 4: they are, they're all pitcher big fights.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Hanny Hanny's the best one out of those guys. Okay, currently,
- 6:24Speaker 1: he's the best one. That's the one that that's the
- 6:26Speaker 1: one that probably get the best fight from. I think
- 6:29Speaker 1: Shakur will be favored, but that's probably the best fight
- 6:32Speaker 1: you get. With all that being said, man, the key
- 6:36Speaker 1: is we get guys fighting guys like even Rollie find
- 6:40Speaker 1: to your female, that's a good fight, that's a it's
- 6:43Speaker 1: a solid fight, and so basically somebody gotta go match.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But at the same time, that's a good man. You
- 6:47Speaker 1: need as many fights as possible.
- 6:49Speaker 2: So that's cool.
- 6:50Speaker 1: But cor being the guy like they're trying to make
- 6:53Speaker 1: him the face of basically boxing in a sense, especially
- 6:57Speaker 1: his division, his region right between like one thirty five
- 7:01Speaker 1: and seven. He's basically the face of that region in
- 7:05Speaker 1: a sense. So with that being said, yeah, gotta fight
- 7:09Speaker 1: early and often. I'm curiously how it's gonna go.
- 7:13Speaker 4: I agree that Devin Haney is the best matchup. But
- 7:15Speaker 4: I worry that you know, they're gonna push Ryan because
- 7:18Speaker 4: he's still the bigger draw.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I think. I don't know if you agree with that,
- 7:21Speaker 3: but uh, I'd be less excited to see that than
- 7:23Speaker 3: him and Haney. But I don't know. I mean, it
- 7:26Speaker 3: seems like just easy money, easy viewers, easy hype.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I can see him fighting. Well, Ryan's fighting soon. That's
- 7:33Speaker 2: the only issue, right, Ryan's fighting de la Hoya. Uh
- 7:38Speaker 2: announced something I think last week but not mistaken right.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Actually, so before we got on the mic, I did see.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I didn't see anything about an official match.
- 7:47Speaker 3: For Ryan yet.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Uh he had, Yeah, he had said that he was
- 7:52Speaker 4: gonna fight Connor Ben Delaya said no, that we need
- 7:55Speaker 4: to talk about it. And then when they during the
- 8:00Speaker 4: announcement when Chakor joined ZUFA, both Ryan Garcia and Connor
- 8:03Speaker 4: Bean were there, or at least Ryan was, but yeah, nothing,
- 8:07Speaker 4: nothing came out of it.
- 8:07Speaker 3: And nobody said anything.
- 8:08Speaker 4: They kept saying an announcement would be coming up soon sooner,
- 8:10Speaker 4: But as of today, I don't see.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I didn't see anything.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Official, but I'm you know, I could always be wrong,
- 8:17Speaker 4: could have always missed something.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he's working on as of last week he's working
- 8:22Speaker 1: on a Connor Bin fight, So I don't know, we'll
- 8:26Speaker 1: see yeah as yeah, as well as we I mean,
- 8:29Speaker 1: we've been hearing that for like a month now, so
- 8:31Speaker 1: it probably does happen unless if out here's the thing
- 8:35Speaker 1: that I don't know if it's gonna work with ZUFA,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know if that's gonna be
- 8:38Speaker 1: a cold war or not. So there's a lot of
- 8:40Speaker 1: things kind of be to be determined. With that being said,
- 8:44Speaker 1: Ryan got to win this next fight. Whoever he fights,
- 8:46Speaker 1: he gotta win. You can't necessarily throw Ryan in if
- 8:48Speaker 1: he's losing and not looking at the fights versus the
- 8:51Speaker 1: guys trying to be the face of your network.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So that's gonna be another thing too. So a lot
- 8:55Speaker 2: of things the factor in.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But I do think stylistically, Shakora hand he's the best
- 9:00Speaker 1: fight you get, and it feels like ZUFA is trying
- 9:03Speaker 1: to put together really good fights, especially breaking the guy
- 9:07Speaker 1: into you know, this the face of the type of
- 9:10Speaker 1: deal they're trying to do. That's what they're trying to
- 9:13Speaker 1: be about. And I do respect him because I will say,
- 9:16Speaker 1: you know, they got some guys in there they're coming.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I don't necessarily like or I'm fond of. They do
- 9:21Speaker 1: fight rather often, which is a good sign. So we'll
- 9:24Speaker 1: see how it plays out.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Sure, and just you know, for the record, who knows
- 9:29Speaker 3: what this actually turns into.
- 9:31Speaker 4: But Oscar Deloya did say that he is willing to
- 9:34Speaker 4: work with any promoter, including Dana White.
- 9:37Speaker 3: If he has to. Is the way that he put it.
- 9:40Speaker 4: So he didn't say this never happening, But he also
- 9:43Speaker 4: wasn't you know, he wasn't super excited.
- 9:46Speaker 3: About the idea, So who knows. Maybe you know, give
- 9:49Speaker 3: him the cold shoulder, maybe he'll actually grit a steeth
- 9:51Speaker 3: and do it. It's hard to say.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I mean, the thing is that the more time that passes,
- 9:58Speaker 4: the more Dana White's involvement is just becoming deniable, inevitable in.
- 10:01Speaker 3: The boxing world.
- 10:02Speaker 4: And we just got to see, uh, we got to
- 10:06Speaker 4: see what happens next in terms of putting together more
- 10:09Speaker 4: fights and how often. But for me, like I said,
- 10:11Speaker 4: I'm still kind of waiting for them to show me
- 10:13Speaker 4: something I'm really really in too excited about, and Shaquor
- 10:17Speaker 4: announcing an opponent is one of those things that I
- 10:19Speaker 4: need fairly soonish. But yeah, uh, but yeah, more lots
- 10:25Speaker 4: more to come about, uh ZUFA Boxing and Data White
- 10:27Speaker 4: and and what's going to happen. So you know, the
- 10:28Speaker 4: Mixed Company podcast is going to be with it, through,
- 10:32Speaker 4: with you all, through it all. So I feel like
- 10:34Speaker 4: a newscaster or whenever there's like a like a big
- 10:36Speaker 4: storm or a tragedy or something, it's.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Like breaking news. It's like anything develops, We're here for you,
- 10:40Speaker 3: tune in. You know, well, we're well, we'll keep you posting.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Another another company there that's talking about, oh, we're gonna
- 10:48Speaker 4: be able to put on the biggest fights and you know, yep,
- 10:50Speaker 4: yep yeah. Uh PBC Premiere Boxing Champions. They announced they're
- 10:54Speaker 4: officially now on the Zone exclusively and streaming platform.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Uh.
- 10:59Speaker 4: You know few for those of you that remember back
- 11:02Speaker 4: in the day when PBC started, their whole thing was
- 11:04Speaker 4: trying to get more fights onto broadcast TV.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And they want to bring them to network TV, so CBS, Fox, ABC,
- 11:13Speaker 1: like the channels that you don't need, you didn't need
- 11:14Speaker 1: cable for that was original goal. However, it took a
- 11:18Speaker 1: lot of money to do that, and they were they're
- 11:21Speaker 1: overpaying so many boxers and doing that and they didn't
- 11:25Speaker 1: have to do. So that was their biggest mistake, paying
- 11:28Speaker 1: guys that were champs, that were like top ten fighters cool.
- 11:31Speaker 1: They were over paying the middle guys and that was
- 11:33Speaker 1: the issue.
- 11:34Speaker 2: You're paying the Robert Carson Guerrero types, that was the problem.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Like those mid tier guys. Paying those guys seven figures
- 11:42Speaker 1: was awful because what happened is you inflated the market
- 11:45Speaker 1: so bad that you end up running out of money
- 11:47Speaker 1: because only so much money the networks have, no matter
- 11:49Speaker 1: what we all think, they all have budgets, and you
- 11:52Speaker 1: guys stay within said budget. Once you start paying the
- 11:55Speaker 1: middle it's never gonna work out. Plus, guys started chilling, like,
- 12:00Speaker 1: guys did not box as often as they could have
- 12:03Speaker 1: or should have because of that. It was like it
- 12:05Speaker 1: was basically free money. The networks allowed it. Allotted so
- 12:09Speaker 1: much money and then god, like, well shit, I made
- 12:12Speaker 1: five million in this fight. I'm not I'm not a
- 12:13Speaker 1: five million dollar fighter, but I made five million this fight,
- 12:16Speaker 1: plus a little bit of the gate.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I don't have to fight three months. I ain't got
- 12:21Speaker 1: to fight in six months. I can fight once, I
- 12:22Speaker 1: mean nine in the twelve months, and I'm good and
- 12:25Speaker 1: that's what that's the mental of a lot of fighters
- 12:28Speaker 1: these days.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that's absolutely true. And you know I didn't look
- 12:34Speaker 4: this up before in the show, but I just checked out.
- 12:36Speaker 4: So they PBC when they started head signed deals with
- 12:38Speaker 4: NBC Sports, CBS Sports, uh, Spike TV. So yeah, I mean,
- 12:43Speaker 4: now you know they've been putting on less and less events.
- 12:46Speaker 4: You know, there's actually a timeline of you know, the
- 12:48Speaker 4: fewer fights a year and everything, and now it's the
- 12:51Speaker 4: complete opposite of how they started, you know.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Only streaming.
- 12:54Speaker 4: It seems to be the only promoter holding it down
- 12:57Speaker 4: for broadcast TV is top Rank because now they've got
- 12:59Speaker 4: a monthly fight on TNT, which we talked about last episode.
- 13:04Speaker 3: But yeah, it's just is this crazy? I mean, I
- 13:06Speaker 3: think it's it should be a little bit of both.
- 13:08Speaker 4: It should be a little bit more outreach to you know,
- 13:10Speaker 4: regular TV, even basic cable if not you know, a
- 13:15Speaker 4: TV network then you know, like a TNT, like you
- 13:19Speaker 4: know those guys USA Network, all those guys that during
- 13:21Speaker 4: the Kail package. ESPN is still working with Jake Paul
- 13:26Speaker 4: and women's boxing, which I think is cool. I think
- 13:30Speaker 4: it's Yes, there is a thing that's the wave of
- 13:33Speaker 4: the future and everybody's going that way, but there is
- 13:35Speaker 4: still something to be said where people kind of go
- 13:37Speaker 4: back to the how the old ways work. Totally unrelated
- 13:40Speaker 4: example to boxing, but you know, in the last couple
- 13:42Speaker 4: of months, kids have been going back to the movie
- 13:44Speaker 4: theaters in droves.
- 13:46Speaker 3: You know, it's a couple of new horror.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Movies, obsession and back rooms making lots of money, and
- 13:50Speaker 4: it's all you know, gen zs. So let's say, I
- 13:54Speaker 4: think personally we shouldn't just completely throw out the old
- 13:56Speaker 4: ways out the window and just ignore broadcast TV, you know,
- 14:00Speaker 4: basic cable.
- 14:01Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean it is, it's very clearly a
- 14:04Speaker 3: sign of the times. But I can't say I'm thrilled
- 14:07Speaker 3: about it.
- 14:08Speaker 4: I don't know how you feel about, you know, just
- 14:10Speaker 4: about boxing making defense when there's less and less availability
- 14:14Speaker 4: that's not on streaming.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Well, here's the thing. I whenever you can get boxing
- 14:19Speaker 1: on network television, it's a good thing. Like the Abdulah
- 14:22Speaker 1: Mason fight being on TNT was a very good thing.
- 14:25Speaker 1: That's a very very like that. That's important for a
- 14:28Speaker 1: lot of reasons. One, a lot of people watch fights
- 14:31Speaker 1: at bars and restaurants. Every bar and restaurant got TNT
- 14:34Speaker 1: one way or another. Everybody got streaming. That's just how
- 14:37Speaker 1: it goes. You would think that now and you're twenty
- 14:40Speaker 1: twenty six years I got smart TVs. Not necessarily the case.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So I am in favor of having options. I am
- 14:48Speaker 1: in favor of most sporting events are on both streaming
- 14:52Speaker 1: and regular television. So if one's on T and T
- 14:57Speaker 1: and it's still on his own app, everybody wins. And
- 15:01Speaker 1: I think the more outlets you have the better.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Uh.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Also, here's the thing too, that people don't realize these
- 15:06Speaker 1: channels need live content. So all these networks, all these apps,
- 15:10Speaker 1: all these TV companies, they all need live content. So
- 15:14Speaker 1: that's why I'm so difficult on boxing, because y'all have
- 15:17Speaker 1: enough fights to make you guys can solve a lot
- 15:19Speaker 1: of issues. Got to make set fights and make sure
- 15:21Speaker 1: they're good. But do you guys have enough boxes to
- 15:24Speaker 1: fight basic every weekend if we wanted to. My thing
- 15:26Speaker 1: is this, I don't want to get to the point
- 15:28Speaker 1: where we got to act, Oh what channel is the
- 15:32Speaker 1: fight on. I want to get to the point where
- 15:34Speaker 1: we know every fight it's either on T N, T, TBS,
- 15:39Speaker 1: or it's on whatever channel like, I don't want to
- 15:42Speaker 1: get to the point where oh we got do we
- 15:44Speaker 1: got that channel?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Or do you got download? What do you how many?
- 15:46Speaker 1: Nah?
- 15:46Speaker 2: That ain't it.
- 15:47Speaker 1: So hopefully going forward it becomes one solution, not like oh,
- 15:53Speaker 1: it's on ESPN Plus this day and it's on Amazon
- 15:57Speaker 1: and next like that.
- 15:58Speaker 2: It's tougher.
- 15:59Speaker 1: You're taking your clientele ran it because remember where you
- 16:01Speaker 1: road to the young, there's a lot of old people
- 16:03Speaker 1: who don't fuck with apps. They don't focus streaming, they
- 16:05Speaker 1: don't do all that download and shit, they're not doing that.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So if you can have it on network TV, it
- 16:10Speaker 1: makes things better for everyone involved. Plus, the marketing is
- 16:14Speaker 1: better on network television than is on the streaming apps.
- 16:18Speaker 1: The marketing itself of events, both current and upcoming, is
- 16:23Speaker 1: way better than things they're thrown on on apps.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Yeah, and let's not forget PBC for a while was
- 16:29Speaker 4: doing Amazon Prime fights, And you know, I hate to
- 16:33Speaker 4: be disrespectful to the Zone because they've they've been a
- 16:35Speaker 4: big name in boxing. They put together you know, big fights,
- 16:38Speaker 4: it's been to go to places. But for just a
- 16:40Speaker 4: regular person, there's a difference between saying the Zone and
- 16:44Speaker 4: saying Amazon Primer, Netflix you know, when it comes to
- 16:46Speaker 4: where you can watch a fight. I don't think the
- 16:49Speaker 4: zone is a household name. We know it because we're
- 16:51Speaker 4: boxing fans. You're talking about how a lot of bars
- 16:54Speaker 4: and restaurants, not a lot of them have streaming, but
- 16:57Speaker 4: they're more likely to have Amazon Prime and Netflix on
- 17:00Speaker 4: you know, at least the app available on the TV. Hell,
- 17:03Speaker 4: so many TVs now come with your remote has Netflix
- 17:06Speaker 4: buttons on it that I accidentally push.
- 17:08Speaker 2: You gotta understand a lot of people don't update ATVs
- 17:10Speaker 2: like that.
- 17:11Speaker 1: That's true, you know a lot of and also a
- 17:13Speaker 1: lot of people got table deals through direct TV or
- 17:16Speaker 1: cocks to where they pay a higher rate.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Because they're a business, so they don't necessarily have the
- 17:22Speaker 2: whole streaming.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Thing like that. You would hope though, that people who
- 17:26Speaker 1: have updated TVs, but most places, man, you'd be surprised
- 17:29Speaker 1: they're not. They're not. They're not.
- 17:30Speaker 2: They're not thinking like that.
- 17:31Speaker 1: They're thinking, Hey, as long as ESPN works, we'll figure
- 17:34Speaker 1: everything else out. They're not really tripping on having the
- 17:35Speaker 1: most updated electronics.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's a bummer because you know, I'm sure
- 17:41Speaker 4: not every fight is a big giant pay per view
- 17:43Speaker 4: fight with with you know, a lot of anticipation. But
- 17:46Speaker 4: as a boxing fan, I want to be able to
- 17:48Speaker 4: go out on a Saturday night, sit at a bar
- 17:49Speaker 4: and just catch whatever whoever is fighting on ESPN, TNT
- 17:53Speaker 4: that night.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Uh.
- 17:55Speaker 3: And I don't want to ask the poor.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Bartenders overworld, bartenders at my neighborhood dive bars to download
- 18:00Speaker 4: the zone. If they let me downloaded and log in,
- 18:05Speaker 4: that's cool, But it's just it's it's just a lot,
- 18:08Speaker 4: you know, It's yeah, it's a lot.
- 18:10Speaker 3: So another thing you have to mention here too.
- 18:13Speaker 4: You know, you go to the the what do they
- 18:15Speaker 4: call the press release and of course, like I said,
- 18:17Speaker 4: PBC sing where all the major promoters are on his own,
- 18:21Speaker 4: we'll be able to bring you the biggest fights, the
- 18:22Speaker 4: biggest names, et cetera. Sean Porter actually from the show.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Sean Porter he mentioned a while back that being on
- 18:30Speaker 4: the same platform is not the same thing as being
- 18:32Speaker 4: under the same umbrella. All of these promoters are on
- 18:35Speaker 4: that platform, uh, and he said, you know, it's not
- 18:38Speaker 4: necessarily going to make it that much easier to you know,
- 18:42Speaker 4: cross promote fights and and you know, make more events.
- 18:45Speaker 3: I don't know how any of that works.
- 18:47Speaker 4: But I will say they're kind of making it seem
- 18:49Speaker 4: like everybody's here and everybody who's on the zone.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Can fight anybody. And I don't think that's what that's true.
- 18:56Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Here's the thing.
- 19:00Speaker 1: At the end of the day, we gotta we gotta
- 19:02Speaker 1: constant slow things down a little bit. It's good that
- 19:05Speaker 1: we are having a concentration of things being on TV
- 19:10Speaker 1: one way or another, because six months ago we had
- 19:11Speaker 1: different conversation. We didn't think boxing was gonna be on
- 19:14Speaker 1: TV going forward that much. We thought it was gonna
- 19:16Speaker 1: be apps and streaming only.
- 19:17Speaker 2: So first things first, kind of slow down a little bit.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Secondly, we have to realize that in this day and age,
- 19:24Speaker 1: all these networks, all these companies need live content, so
- 19:28Speaker 1: boxing is always going to find a way to be
- 19:30Speaker 1: on TV one way or another. However, the one thing
- 19:33Speaker 1: that I think would benefit boxing more than anything is
- 19:37Speaker 1: having really good fights on a channel that everybody got.
- 19:41Speaker 1: But if you got three back to back weekends of
- 19:44Speaker 1: great boxing on TNT, the average person, not you and I,
- 19:48Speaker 1: but the average Joe blow that tunes into sports whenever
- 19:52Speaker 1: they have time, Like damn, the last three boxing matches
- 19:55Speaker 1: I watched We're Really Good on TNT on Saturday. That's
- 19:59Speaker 1: what boxing needs. It's not about the you and I
- 20:02Speaker 1: s of the world. We're gonna watch or fall along with.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Regardless of course, boxing needs to get the casual fan back.
- 20:08Speaker 1: That's the issue that they're having is getting the casual
- 20:11Speaker 1: fan back and then where to watch the fights at That,
- 20:14Speaker 1: to me is the most important thing that boxing is
- 20:17Speaker 1: a constraint on.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:19Speaker 4: And another thing too, just we got to make sure
- 20:22Speaker 4: that we are very clear about our biases and where
- 20:25Speaker 4: we live were you and I were both in the
- 20:26Speaker 4: United States. Like I said, the Zone is not a
- 20:28Speaker 4: household name. It's a British brand. I don't know if
- 20:31Speaker 4: maybe out in you know, British Land, that everybody knows.
- 20:35Speaker 3: What the hell this is. It's possible, I don't know,
- 20:37Speaker 3: but just yeah, the average sports fan, even somebody. There's
- 20:42Speaker 3: a lot of people that I've.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Spoken to, you know, throughout the course of doing the
- 20:45Speaker 4: show who have watched boxing, but they say, oh, yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 4: I haven't kept.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Up within like ten years, fifteen years.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:52Speaker 4: If I tell somebody, man, you got to watch this
- 20:55Speaker 4: fight this weekend. It's on ESPN, It's on Netflix, et cetera.
- 20:58Speaker 4: That's going to be a little easier to you know,
- 20:59Speaker 4: hook them back. But you say, download his own started
- 21:02Speaker 4: to count that.
- 21:03Speaker 2: And also here's the thing too.
- 21:05Speaker 1: But one thing I will say about the UFC is this,
- 21:08Speaker 1: I'm not a huge fan of it, but they do
- 21:11Speaker 1: have a lot of fights damn every weekend, and you
- 21:14Speaker 1: know where to kind of find it that Paramount plus
- 21:16Speaker 1: has the has a contract. So if you have Paramount Plus,
- 21:20Speaker 1: you can watch all the fights all the time. If
- 21:22Speaker 1: you're a casual person, you know when are you here,
- 21:25Speaker 1: Hey there's a UFC card, you know where to go,
- 21:28Speaker 1: you know what's going to be on. That's that it's
- 21:31Speaker 1: hard to it's hard to compete against that because you
- 21:34Speaker 1: got to remember the casual fan. It's not boxing versus UFC.
- 21:38Speaker 1: You're as you're competing for that window of time that
- 21:42Speaker 1: casual fan has. So it's not just hey, if you
- 21:46Speaker 1: don't wall at UFC your boxing, it's hey, I got
- 21:48Speaker 1: an hour to watch sports, and wich sport is the
- 21:52Speaker 1: best option at this time.
- 21:54Speaker 2: That's why I think boxing has to understand is.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Like you got to make your product and make your
- 21:59Speaker 1: you gotta make your for very very enticing to the
- 22:03Speaker 1: regular person.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I think we've got it.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Used to be that way because we had HBO, we
- 22:07Speaker 1: had ESPN, we had all these channels and all these fights.
- 22:10Speaker 2: But we've gotten so much away from that. I don't
- 22:13Speaker 2: know if we can get it back.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But we have a lot of good young fighters that
- 22:16Speaker 1: are currently fighting a lot of different visions. I think
- 22:19Speaker 1: that is a promising thing.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree absolutely that in terms of, you know,
- 22:24Speaker 4: the fighting for people's time. But fellas everybody, what better
- 22:30Speaker 4: sports than the one that doesn't have overtime? You know,
- 22:32Speaker 4: that doesn't have timeouts, they don't have time added at
- 22:35Speaker 4: the end of the match like soccer does at.
- 22:37Speaker 3: The World Cup. So it's just like, this is the
- 22:39Speaker 3: perfect sport for that.
- 22:40Speaker 4: You know exactly how much, how long it's gonna last,
- 22:43Speaker 4: you can set your watch by it. But yeah, I
- 22:46Speaker 4: mean another thing too, that's a difference between UFC being
- 22:48Speaker 4: on Paramount and I promise again I'm not doing this
- 22:51Speaker 4: this shit on his own. I'm just you know, being
- 22:53Speaker 4: realistic about the differences here is that Paramount has other
- 22:56Speaker 4: TV shows. They got believe that's where all the Star
- 22:58Speaker 4: Trek shows are on. You know, they've got Comedy Central.
- 23:00Speaker 4: If I remember all that stuff there, So if you're
- 23:03Speaker 4: a fan, you're getting other things. I don't know what
- 23:06Speaker 4: else I would watch on the Zone if I you know,
- 23:09Speaker 4: if I was going to try to sell it to
- 23:10Speaker 4: somebody other than a boxing fan, you know, original content,
- 23:14Speaker 4: any of that.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I know they have f one.
- 23:17Speaker 4: But in terms of yeah, Paramout, I would one hundred
- 23:20Speaker 4: I would be one hundred times more likely to sign
- 23:22Speaker 4: up for Paramount Plus than the Zone if I wanted
- 23:25Speaker 4: like a full range of options to watch.
- 23:27Speaker 3: But right, but yeah, I mean same thing.
- 23:30Speaker 4: We'll just kind of keep an eye on what matches
- 23:32Speaker 4: are gonna happen. It's we're all coming back to the
- 23:34Speaker 4: same thing as far as I'm concerned, is Okay, you
- 23:36Speaker 4: know your contracts with this network, with this fight er,
- 23:38Speaker 4: this and that, show me some show me some names
- 23:41Speaker 4: blank versus blank, and you know, give me some dates,
- 23:44Speaker 4: who's coming up, who's got who's got a big, a
- 23:47Speaker 4: big event coming And that's when I'll that's what I'll
- 23:50Speaker 4: decide if I really mess with you or not. Whether
- 23:53Speaker 4: it's you know, an app, a promoter, it all comes
- 23:56Speaker 4: down to that. So but yeah, the thing we already
- 24:00Speaker 4: mentioned this, But since we're harping on boxing being on
- 24:04Speaker 4: network TV for anybody. August first is the next event
- 24:08Speaker 4: on TNT for Lamont Roach versus William Sepeta. So I
- 24:13Speaker 4: think we should really start hitting that and getting more
- 24:16Speaker 4: people to watch, because right now T and T fights
- 24:18Speaker 4: are once a month. But if this is success, maybe
- 24:20Speaker 4: two maybe more times a month.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, especially especially before football season, because once football comes,
- 24:27Speaker 1: it is what it is like. You know, this country,
- 24:29Speaker 1: football is king, so you can get multiple fights and
- 24:32Speaker 1: that's good. But no, that's a that's a good fight.
- 24:35Speaker 1: You're you mentioned, that's a very good colle It's a
- 24:37Speaker 1: very good fight. Both guys are kind of in the
- 24:38Speaker 1: same position career wise, so that's a really good situation.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and forgive my ignorance on this, but when does
- 24:44Speaker 3: the NFL season start again?
- 24:47Speaker 1: College football starts around Labor Day. NFL starts to at
- 24:51Speaker 1: the week the the Thursday after Labor Day. Okay, got
- 24:56Speaker 1: right on the same time. So again we got like
- 24:58Speaker 1: two months BEFOREFL starts roughly, but TANT has college football,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and college football starts basically the first week is September.
- 25:07Speaker 2: So they got time.
- 25:08Speaker 1: But it's one of those things the where right now
- 25:10Speaker 1: they have a lot of time to market items and
- 25:13Speaker 1: market events. That's the key.
- 25:14Speaker 2: You're only as good as your marketing. You're only as
- 25:17Speaker 2: good as your market will come to sports.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Sure, and the good thing we had talked about tail
- 25:20Speaker 4: Female versus early before and since then it has actually
- 25:23Speaker 4: been calendar for August twenty second, which is great.
- 25:25Speaker 3: You know they're sliding in before that.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Canelo Versus and Billie was in September. But for those
- 25:31Speaker 4: of you who don't know, he got pushed to October.
- 25:33Speaker 3: I didn't see a reason why.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Hopefully it's not Canello's injury, you know, still getting them
- 25:38Speaker 4: in trouble because I don't want to see my man
- 25:40Speaker 4: absolutely destroyed in the ring.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:43Speaker 4: It's one thing to lose to butt and you know,
- 25:45Speaker 4: put into these performance, but I don't want to see
- 25:47Speaker 4: him injured and get just pubbled demolished to barriess, you.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Know, right.
- 25:51Speaker 3: But well we'll be give me an eye on that
- 25:53Speaker 3: as well.
- 25:55Speaker 4: We know the story that came up over the weekend,
- 25:58Speaker 4: said pop Up on TikTok. His old friend of boxing
- 26:01Speaker 4: Adier and Browner is staging a comeback. He has he's
- 26:06Speaker 4: a streamer now, which I actually didn't know. I don't
- 26:08Speaker 4: really follow, you know, fighter his personal life outside of
- 26:12Speaker 4: the ring that much. But yeah, he's been doing on
- 26:15Speaker 4: the network Kick Streamer Kick, and he's doing a forty
- 26:19Speaker 4: five day workout of thon, you know, streaming himself going
- 26:22Speaker 4: hard at the gym every single day for a potential fight.
- 26:25Speaker 3: And I think he said in the next three months
- 26:27Speaker 3: or so.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Which is a little crazy, But I don't know, let's
- 26:33Speaker 4: start with this specifically in terms of him coming back
- 26:36Speaker 4: to the ring, because he's been very out of shape. He's,
- 26:39Speaker 4: you know, did a lot of drinking. He said, he's
- 26:42Speaker 4: sober now and he's focusing hard. How realistic is it
- 26:45Speaker 4: for a fighter that has been that bad of shape
- 26:47Speaker 4: to come back to the ring in three months, Jamison,
- 26:48Speaker 4: In your opinion.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I don't think it's that far off, to be honest
- 26:52Speaker 2: with you.
- 26:53Speaker 1: He's still an athlete, and those athletes, the guys are
- 26:57Speaker 1: that caliber, they tend to be able to lose a
- 26:59Speaker 1: lot of weight and they're very disciplined. So if he
- 27:02Speaker 1: needs to shed forty pounds and he needs to get
- 27:04Speaker 1: back in fighting shape, he knows how to do that.
- 27:07Speaker 2: It's not like it's a mystery. Like his regular person, his.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Body is different now, he's in a lot of damage
- 27:12Speaker 1: to his body, you know, the alcohol, drugs, et cetera.
- 27:16Speaker 1: It's gonna take a toll, no doubt, but him taking
- 27:20Speaker 1: this seriously is a whole different thing. So we'll see
- 27:22Speaker 1: what happens. Him getting in shape is good in general,
- 27:26Speaker 1: but also he understands the audience he has. If he's
- 27:30Speaker 1: training for a fight in streaming every day, he will
- 27:33Speaker 1: have one of the most most watched boxing matches in
- 27:37Speaker 1: a long time. Not necessarily all his fans will be
- 27:40Speaker 1: boxing fans, but there are fans of him and his
- 27:42Speaker 1: personality and what he brings to the table. So it'll
- 27:44Speaker 1: be interesting to see what happens, if it happens. But
- 27:47Speaker 1: it is a very unique situation opportunity that really haven't
- 27:50Speaker 1: seen before, because like Jake Paul, yes he's a streamer,
- 27:53Speaker 1: but that's not his main thing. Andre and Browner right
- 27:56Speaker 1: now is more known as a streamer than a boxer
- 27:58Speaker 1: to young people. So if young people tune in and
- 28:01Speaker 1: watch or want to watch him fight and he does
- 28:04Speaker 1: well on set fight, he's gonna be fighting again and
- 28:07Speaker 1: again and again. So I'm very curiously what happens. I'm
- 28:10Speaker 1: very curious even to be disciplined. He wasn't disciplined in
- 28:12Speaker 1: his first go around in his career. But we'll see
- 28:16Speaker 1: people change, people mature. And also I do think that
- 28:20Speaker 1: having something taken away from you and being able to
- 28:24Speaker 1: reflect on what happened and how it happened, it can
- 28:27Speaker 1: change the person. Not saying it will, I'm not making
- 28:29Speaker 1: any promises. I don't want to speak for another row man.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I think that when you look back at damn I
- 28:34Speaker 1: used to do this, or damn I used to do that,
- 28:37Speaker 1: it changed something inside you. It burns a fire inside
- 28:41Speaker 1: you that you.
- 28:41Speaker 2: May or may not have had.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Well.
- 28:44Speaker 4: And what you mentioned about how Adrian Browner is right
- 28:47Speaker 4: now more of a streamer than a boxer, but he
- 28:49Speaker 4: also was a legitimate boxer.
- 28:50Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Yeah, Jake Bowl had a lot of fans from streaming
- 28:53Speaker 4: that weren't boxing fans, but he was never a real boxer.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 28:56Speaker 3: So I think that's a little bit more likely to not.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Just bring a lot of fans, but keep a lot
- 29:01Speaker 4: of fans, Like I said, if he's going to be
- 29:03Speaker 4: fighting more often. Another thing, too, is that I have
- 29:10Speaker 4: personal experience with knowing. Let's see how I'm gonna say
- 29:13Speaker 4: this knowing athletes that are no longer into shape but
- 29:15Speaker 4: still have the mental guy, they're able to be guides
- 29:21Speaker 4: because of what they used to know. Shout out to
- 29:23Speaker 4: my buddy Adam. Back when I was taking boxing classes,
- 29:26Speaker 4: my buddy used to he did.
- 29:27Speaker 3: What is an Ironman triathlon?
- 29:29Speaker 1: Is that what? Yeah?
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 29:31Speaker 3: And so you know he's he's an older fella.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Now he's in his mid to late forties, and you
- 29:35Speaker 4: know he wasn't in the best shape, but he actually
- 29:37Speaker 4: did a lot of help training me in between, you know,
- 29:39Speaker 4: outside of the gym, with you know, how to run
- 29:42Speaker 4: and technique and this and that. And I admit at
- 29:45Speaker 4: the time I was like, bro, you're a fat guy,
- 29:47Speaker 4: Like how do you know all this? But that training,
- 29:50Speaker 4: that intensity and the knowledge too of just you run
- 29:53Speaker 4: in this position, ship like this, you know your core
- 29:56Speaker 4: this is that that stuff doesn't go away.
- 29:58Speaker 1: So also staying with an alcohol, the alcohol is the
- 30:02Speaker 1: issue with Adrian Broner. He drink. He used to drink
- 30:04Speaker 1: a lot, like a whole lot. Seeing in his face,
- 30:07Speaker 1: you can see in his pores, you can see it.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Like the alcohol is the issue. If he could stay
- 30:12Speaker 1: out the alcohol for three months, we'll see I'm not
- 30:16Speaker 1: saying he can. I cannot, but I'm caustiously optimistic. But
- 30:21Speaker 1: staying away from the alcohol is the only way you
- 30:22Speaker 1: get in shape. When you had those issues he has,
- 30:25Speaker 1: and you have the alcohol gut that he has. He
- 30:29Speaker 1: asked basically detox his body and we'll see if that works.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and actually probably should have started here for folks
- 30:35Speaker 4: who may not know, but Adrian Browner was a very
- 30:38Speaker 4: talented and hype of fighter early two thousands.
- 30:40Speaker 3: His big period was like twenty tens twenty eleven. Is
- 30:44Speaker 3: really came on the scene.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it really came on the scene. And just what
- 30:48Speaker 4: looked amazing you look back his highlights in the ring,
- 30:50Speaker 4: he looked absolutely amazing. Completely career, completely off the rails,
- 30:55Speaker 4: not just yet from not taking it seriously partying legal issues,
- 30:58Speaker 4: got a.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Arrested a bunch of time.
- 31:00Speaker 4: There's a whole it's one of those wikipedias with legal
- 31:02Speaker 4: issues has its own section.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yeah that's wild.
- 31:05Speaker 1: So he turned down five years, forty million dollars or
- 31:09Speaker 1: forty five million dollars for rock Nation, and nothing ever
- 31:12Speaker 1: went this, Nothing ever went right after that. Everything got
- 31:16Speaker 1: worse after that, And I mean, who knows what the
- 31:18Speaker 1: deal entailed, but whatever it was, it was better than
- 31:22Speaker 1: when it ended up happening. And that's unfortunate because you
- 31:24Speaker 1: don't get that money back. Once you turn down that money,
- 31:28Speaker 1: that money doesn't come back, especially with his situation. So
- 31:31Speaker 1: it's all that being said, it is what it is.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I do hope and wish the best for him. He
- 31:36Speaker 1: feels like it's a genuine opportunity to come back in
- 31:38Speaker 1: the sport and feel like he does love boxing, so
- 31:41Speaker 1: I'm always in favor of that.
- 31:42Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 31:43Speaker 1: But man, the drinking is going to be the biggest
- 31:48Speaker 1: issue because once you're basically an attic of that, that's
- 31:53Speaker 1: the thing that puts on the most pounds. So if
- 31:55Speaker 1: he stays away from it, then yeah, he'll get in
- 31:56Speaker 1: shaped very quickly. But that it's hard.
- 31:59Speaker 2: The little is hard.
- 32:00Speaker 1: I'm not driving funny and not trying to be advocate
- 32:02Speaker 1: like that. It's hardshed with a bottle. It's very difficult.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Oh absolutely.
- 32:06Speaker 4: I mean even when I was working out, you know,
- 32:08Speaker 4: even up to six days a week, I never stopped drinking.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Sure I tempered it a little bit because I like
- 32:14Speaker 4: to have a nice drink, but yeah, yeah, no, that's different.
- 32:18Speaker 4: That's different, but I definitely saw. I'll put it to
- 32:21Speaker 4: you this way. I knew as hard as I was working,
- 32:24Speaker 4: like shortly after the Rona, because I got really really
- 32:27Speaker 4: fat during the Rona, and then after that I got
- 32:28Speaker 4: in very good shape.
- 32:29Speaker 3: But I knew you could feel it.
- 32:31Speaker 4: It's like if I used to stopped drinking entirely, I
- 32:34Speaker 4: would have looked like Daniel Craig coming out of the water.
- 32:36Speaker 3: But I was happy. I wasn't like, you know, miserable.
- 32:39Speaker 3: I wasn't.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Also, you know, I was eating healthy. I wasn't starving
- 32:42Speaker 4: myself or anything like that. I just upped how hard
- 32:45Speaker 4: I was working at the gym, like I don't know,
- 32:47Speaker 4: one hundred times compared to what it was before that. Yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 4: but yeah, no, definitely you could you And also you
- 32:54Speaker 4: can feel in your body you know what you eat
- 32:57Speaker 4: and what you drink. Even if we were working out
- 32:59Speaker 4: really hard, I feel like you get in tuned with that.
- 33:02Speaker 3: You're like that.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Probably yeah, that off set that weekend offset like one
- 33:07Speaker 4: day of working out for the whole week, you know
- 33:09Speaker 4: what I mean. But anyway, No, it's getting back to
- 33:14Speaker 4: tadrim Burger specifically. So, yeah, it's been over over ten
- 33:17Speaker 4: years like fifteen years or so since he was at
- 33:20Speaker 4: his prime. Sa cour Stevenson mentioned him and saying, oh,
- 33:23Speaker 4: it'd be great to be coming back, you know, definitely
- 33:25Speaker 4: would be good for boxing in your opinion. We talked
- 33:28Speaker 4: about how he's gonna have young fans from the stream,
- 33:30Speaker 4: but how much is the boxing.
- 33:31Speaker 3: World gonna care?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Like?
- 33:32Speaker 3: How old does he still remember today? At fifteen years
- 33:35Speaker 3: old time.
- 33:36Speaker 2: He's definitely remembered. That's that's not a man. He's not
- 33:39Speaker 2: remembered for a great things, but he's definitely remembered.
- 33:42Speaker 1: He's one of those things to where I don't think
- 33:45Speaker 1: when a title belt first fight, I don't think he's
- 33:48Speaker 1: at that point. But he definitely gets somebody. He's in shape,
- 33:52Speaker 1: he can give somebody a decent fight. The thing what
- 33:54Speaker 1: Adrian Browner is his power never came up with him
- 33:57Speaker 1: to one seven his best power that one thirty one
- 34:00Speaker 1: thirty five. His power never moved up. And that was
- 34:03Speaker 1: the biggest issue. Because you don't throw a lot and
- 34:05Speaker 1: you're not powerful, you're not a good fighter. So he
- 34:09Speaker 1: wasn't throwing a lot in fights, and the fight, the
- 34:11Speaker 1: shots who was landing wasn't really hurting people.
- 34:14Speaker 2: It's not gonna really work.
- 34:15Speaker 1: So for me and my eyes, in my opinion, him
- 34:20Speaker 1: being in shape as the number one thing, and then
- 34:22Speaker 1: two putting together good fights. He's being competitive in fights
- 34:27Speaker 1: would be a plus. Expecting him to win a belt,
- 34:30Speaker 1: that's not fair. That's that's that's out, that's not right.
- 34:33Speaker 1: But he comes back in shape box as well, and
- 34:36Speaker 1: who knows two fights from then, he's still relatively young.
- 34:39Speaker 2: I think he's still in his thirties.
- 34:41Speaker 1: So it's not that it's not that bad, but it's
- 34:45Speaker 1: hard about against the guy that has shown you nothing
- 34:47Speaker 1: but destruction over the last ten to fifteen years.
- 34:49Speaker 2: It's very difficult.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Yeah, he's thirty six right now, and yeah, I looked up.
- 34:55Speaker 4: So it was the welterweight fight against the Madonna that
- 34:59Speaker 4: was his first loss, and that's one that you know,
- 35:03Speaker 4: everybody says after that, nothing was the same.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Uh, Well, remember that fight, he came in like ten
- 35:08Speaker 1: people and left with two. Remember that's when where he
- 35:11Speaker 1: needed help back to the ring. So before the fight,
- 35:14Speaker 1: everything's good, party music's loud, blah blah blah, and that
- 35:19Speaker 1: fight didn't end well and he ended up getting carried
- 35:21Speaker 1: back to the locker room with two people. So It
- 35:24Speaker 1: just gives you a you know, it signifies how this
- 35:28Speaker 1: thing goes. And that's kind of like life. You're on
- 35:31Speaker 1: top of the world, everybody's there, everybody loves you. You
- 35:34Speaker 1: ain't you ain't. So he got one more shot. It'll
- 35:38Speaker 1: be interesting to see what happens. It'll be covered a lot,
- 35:39Speaker 1: it'll be marketed well, so we'll see. I wouldn't bet
- 35:43Speaker 1: on him doing anything great, but I hope he does.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and he's of course he's talking about, oh he
- 35:49Speaker 4: wants to be a CHAMPI again, he wants to, you know,
- 35:51Speaker 4: get his world title, this and that. But I don't
- 35:53Speaker 4: know should temporary expectations? Also, did you I saw this
- 35:56Speaker 4: because I was looking up some stats and I saw
- 35:59Speaker 4: that he actually fought in twenty twenty four?
- 36:00Speaker 3: Did you know that? I did not know that? No, yeah,
- 36:02Speaker 3: I suppose he had. He had a fight in twenty
- 36:04Speaker 3: twenty four. I don't know. I remember against whom or
- 36:08Speaker 3: like what the result The result was that he lost,
- 36:10Speaker 3: but where what?
- 36:13Speaker 4: Like, I know, part part of a reason is wondering,
- 36:16Speaker 4: like how much boxing is gonna care if he comes back?
- 36:18Speaker 3: Is this technically he never really left for that log.
- 36:21Speaker 1: He's in name so people always remember him as a name,
- 36:24Speaker 1: whether he was good or not, or over it or not,
- 36:27Speaker 1: it's a whole different question. But he's in names. People
- 36:29Speaker 1: remember names and remembered, and his name is in the
- 36:33Speaker 1: news lot more than it used to be, so he'll
- 36:35Speaker 1: definitely remember.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought Blair Cobbs in June of twenty twenty
- 36:41Speaker 4: four in Hollywood, Florida, So you know that's probably about
- 36:46Speaker 4: where where he would have been at that point.
- 36:48Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 36:49Speaker 4: I mean, I also, I'm forty, I'm an old man.
- 36:52Speaker 4: I know of kick streaming, but I don't know, like
- 36:55Speaker 4: how popular it is if it's all I see, if
- 36:57Speaker 4: I was very popular, That's what I was wondering.
- 37:00Speaker 3: So you know, is he does? He have a big
- 37:01Speaker 3: fan base there.
- 37:02Speaker 2: He's making more money off stream than he did in boxing.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, yeah, I know it's I feel like the
- 37:09Speaker 4: Grand BV like reading us like twitch alternative called kick.
- 37:15Speaker 3: But I know that it's a thing, so I'm not
- 37:18Speaker 3: trying to be here like I'm clueless, but I just
- 37:19Speaker 3: don't know. Yeah, what what's the following? And you know
- 37:22Speaker 3: how big of a deal it is? But but yeah,
- 37:26Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know. We'll see his goal is
- 37:28Speaker 3: he's okay.
- 37:29Speaker 4: So he stated that his goal is a fight in
- 37:32Speaker 4: a brown three months from now, So would put us
- 37:35Speaker 4: in October. How let's say that he does get in
- 37:39Speaker 4: shape and he is able to get back in the ring.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Is that even realistic in terms of the.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Logistics and all of that, Like, might we see him back?
- 37:46Speaker 1: It can be the biggest issue that was still the fighting,
- 37:49Speaker 1: Like last time we saw him fight wasn't good. And again,
- 37:52Speaker 1: if you're not a busy fighter, you're not a powerful fighter,
- 37:56Speaker 1: then what the fuck are you? Like?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Fascin thing? You can either be one of the other.
- 38:00Speaker 2: You can be both.
- 38:01Speaker 1: You can't be sitting around waiting for a big shot,
- 38:03Speaker 1: and you also can't be not active. Doesn't quite work
- 38:07Speaker 1: that way.
- 38:08Speaker 2: It doesn't. And if his power doesn't translate, his power
- 38:10Speaker 2: is not.
- 38:11Speaker 1: If his power doesn't put anyone down or buckle anybody,
- 38:16Speaker 1: he's just another guy. So I think there is a
- 38:19Speaker 1: redemption story here, but also reality based off what we've
- 38:22Speaker 1: already seen, and I think that it would be we'd
- 38:24Speaker 1: be fools be like, oh he can do this automatically. No, no, no, no,
- 38:28Speaker 1: because last time he saw him fight it wasn't like that.
- 38:31Speaker 1: So we'll see what happens again Bruney for him, I
- 38:33Speaker 1: always want to see success stories of boxing.
- 38:35Speaker 2: I just think this one's gonna be what's gonna be.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 4: Well, and another thing too, And I say I talk,
- 38:41Speaker 4: I talk big for somebody that's never actually done anything
- 38:44Speaker 4: professional or but people got to remember with age, you
- 38:48Speaker 4: have to be smart about what you're focusing on. And
- 38:51Speaker 4: you know, let's take Prime Canelo, who is always really fast,
- 38:54Speaker 4: good defense. As he got older, he got bigger, beef,
- 38:57Speaker 4: hear and he got stronger, always a big power puncher,
- 39:00Speaker 4: but focused on that more than defense. And you just
- 39:02Speaker 4: got to know where your your body is gonna has
- 39:05Speaker 4: to be, where your niche is going to be. And
- 39:07Speaker 4: if people maybe kind of try, they try too hard
- 39:10Speaker 4: to get back to where they were ten years ago,
- 39:12Speaker 4: fifteen years ago, it's not good that that does not
- 39:15Speaker 4: turn out well, uh for a lot of people. So
- 39:19Speaker 4: hopefully he's got smart you know, uh smart trainer is
- 39:22Speaker 4: a smart corner.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Of this and that.
- 39:24Speaker 3: But it'll be I'll be interesting to see. I think
- 39:26Speaker 3: I'm most.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Curious to see, like I said, how big of a
- 39:29Speaker 4: deal it's going to be, how much hype it's going
- 39:31Speaker 4: to have if he does have a fight anounce.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Yeah, him getting into shape and being able to fight
- 39:36Speaker 3: is cool. But I don't know, it's just it's I
- 39:39Speaker 3: I haven't how about that.
- 39:40Speaker 4: I haven't thought about Adrian Brunner at all until we
- 39:43Speaker 4: started making this show.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That that to me was there was nothing to talk about.
- 39:49Speaker 1: I mean, there was nothing to talk about for the
- 39:50Speaker 1: longest time. But if he's gonna get in shape and
- 39:53Speaker 1: he's gonna try to fight, it is what it is.
- 39:54Speaker 1: It's one of those things where we'll see it out.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I don't think. I mean, I have my reason of
- 39:59Speaker 1: what will happen. Is that deprend who the punter is.
- 40:01Speaker 1: But yeah, man, I mean it is what it is. It's,
- 40:04Speaker 1: you know, not crazy. This is what it is. Yeah.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Well cool.
- 40:09Speaker 4: We'll leave it here for now, and we'll, you know,
- 40:10Speaker 4: just keep coming back to these topics as more news
- 40:13Speaker 4: comes up.
